Essay On Morality
Crafting an essay on the topic of morality is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor. Morality is a
complex and multifaceted concept that has been debated by philosophers, scholars, and thinkers
for centuries. The difficulty lies not only in defining morality but also in navigating the diverse
perspectives and ethical frameworks that exist. As an essayist, you must grapple with questions
of right and wrong, good and evil, and the underlying principles that guide human behavior.
Moreover, the challenge extends to the task of presenting a balanced and comprehensive view.
Morality is subjective, and individuals and cultures may differ in their moral beliefs. Your essay
needs to consider various viewpoints, addressing the cultural, historical, and philosophical
dimensions of morality. Analyzing the impact of religion, societal norms, and personal
convictions on moral reasoning adds another layer of complexity.
Furthermore, the fluid nature of morality requires a nuanced approach. What may be considered
morally acceptable in one context could be deemed immoral in another. This fluidity demands
careful consideration and an exploration of the contextual factors that influence moral judgments.
To write an effective essay on morality, you must also engage with contemporary ethical
dilemmas and their implications. This involves staying abreast of current events, ethical debates,
and evolving societal norms to provide relevance and insight.
In conclusion, composing an essay on morality requires navigating through a labyrinth of
philosophical inquiries, cultural variations, and ethical nuances. It demands a deep understanding
of diverse perspectives and a commitment to presenting a well-reasoned and thought-provoking
analysis. Despite the challenges, tackling such a profound and significant topic can be
intellectually rewarding for those willing to delve into the intricate landscape of human morality.

Response to question 1:
Ibn Tufayl writes of Hayy ibn Yaqzan s experiences starting with his birth. Tufayl
presents two different accounts about the origin of his hero, Hayy. The first account
was that Hayy was born on an uninhabited island, not from parents but, rather, from
clay fermentation. The author emphasizes the importance of the island s perfect
geographic location and climate in order to support the possibility of spontaneous
human generation without the need for a mother and father. According to the second
account, Hayy was the illegitimate son of a princess who was the daughter of a ruler
of a large inhabited island next to the uninhabited island. In order to save the baby
(Hayy) from certain death, his mother puts him ... Show more content on

He discovers that they do not seek God. He then examines the spiritual bodies which
possess an intelligent substance, like his, and that they see the Necessary Being.
Among all the animals, he thinks of himself as the only one who could know the
Necessary Being. Up to this point, he has not met other human beings.
I believe that the author gave two different explanations about how Hayy came to life
in order to immediately attract the reader and to start the thought process at the very
beginning of his tale. The tale was written in a way that reflected Tufayl s own
philosophical ideas. I understood the background of the explanations to be the same,
i.e., they both present Hayy in solitude on an uninhabited island to show how reason
guides the human intellect naturally. I believe that was Tufayl s intention. Both
explanations were related to science and religion and, because Tufayl was a
philosopher, I believe that they were based on his readings and learnings. I do not
think that the author favored either account because, other than giving the two
accounts, he did not set out to prove or disprove one or the other. In my opinion,
Tufayl s intent, throughout his essay, was to convey the fact that self discipline is
important in the search for the understanding of life in all forms and that solitude is
necessary to the learning
My Experience At The Usa
My experience of moving to the USA included a couple of steps such as preparing,
arriving, and adopting. Moving to America was one of the most thrilling and
exciting experiences I have ever had in my life. It all started after I graduated from
high school. I had always dreamed of going to abroad to study in a better school to
be successful in life. My dad was leaving me hints here and there that he was going
to send me America for school, but I was sure that it wasn t going to happen because
getting a student visawas tough back then. However, that summer when I saw that
letter in my mail from the immigration department of USA for an interview, I was
speechless. In order to come to America for school, I either had to have a student
visa or a permanent residency, for which someone had to sponsor me. I was
actually starting to give up on coming to the USA for School. But one day I saw a
mail from the USA embassy, and in the mail it said that my aunt sponsored me to
come to the USA, and they asked me along with my family for an interview. It was
so unexpected that I didn t know how to react. I took the letter to my dad, and he
told me all about how he was processing the whole time while I was busy taking my
finals. That was exciting because I was actually going to get a chance to study
abroad which was all depending on the interview. I had to prepare for the interview
with my best effort because that could take my life up to a whole new level. The
interview was in the capital

Concurrent training: Proposed mechanism for the interference effect
Introduction
Many athletes, predominantly field based, necessitate superior levels of strength and
aerobic capacity simultaneously to be competitive within their sport. Therefore,
concurrently incorporating strength and endurance training within a training regime
is common practice amongst athletes. Research shows concurrent training (CT) has
substantial benefits for endurance performance by improving economy of movement
and power output, with little influence on VO2max (Blagrove, 2013). Conversely,
strength gains are repeatedly reported to be attenuated with the addition of endurance
training, a phenomenon often termed the inference effect. However, the underlying
mechanism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, this led many to propose overtraining as a possible mechanism, which
occurs when training volume and intensity is too high and/ or there is insufficient
recovery, leading to a decline or lack of improvement. (Nader, 2006). However, a
protocol used by Dudley and Djamil (1985) employing 5 x 5 minute endurance
sessions and 2 x 30second strength sessions on alternating days still reported
attenuation of strength gains in the CT group despite training volume being relatively
low. In addition, Blagrove (2013) adds that as endurance qualities seem to be
unaffected by such protocols, it is doubtful that Overtraining is an underpinning
mechanism to explain the interference
The Physical Portrayals Of Hispanic Women In The Media
The physical portrayal of Hispanic women in the media has a large influence on the
Hispanic women and girls that view these portrayals. The media s physical portrayal
of Hispanic women is that they are voluptuous, dark haired, tanned skin, and petite.
There are many films, TV shows, and any other media outlets that portray Hispanic
women as such. Examples of these portrayals are Modern Family, Maid in
Manhattan, and Girl in Progress. In each of these movies or shows, the main
character appears as the stereotypical Hispanic woman. This is what many Hispanic
women and girls believe that the world sees them as. They also believe that this is
how they should look. This especially affects adolescent girls that identify as
Hispanic. media use may play a role in the body image development of Latina
adolescents (Schooler, 2008, p. 134). Most of the time when watching television,
Latinas see a white woman and their beauty standards. The difference between
white women in the media as opposed to Latin women is that there is a greater
variety of how white women in the U.S. look. When a Latina finally sees someone
who is Latina, they expect to see themselves, instead, they see Eva Mendes, long
wavy hair, curvy, and petite. When young Latin women see this, they expect
themselves to be the same way. If they don t look like that, it can result in a spoiled
body image of themselves. Latina women in this sample tended to hold the lowest
perceptions of their bodies, the highest awareness of Consumerism as a factor in
the body/beauty standard, and scored high in racial identification (Poran, 2002, p.
79) Latin women understand who they are and when someone is of the same
background. Many are also self conscious about their bodies, and that is likely due
to the fact that not only are actresses on TV shows thin and curvy, but many
commercials are about the newest way to lose weight rapidly, or what to buy to get
curves. All women of any race have issues with body Image, but as a Latina, the
media plays a big role in how Latinas form their body image.
According to the media s portrayal of Latin women, there are two ways Latin
women act. The first way is passive, pure, and dependent on men; the second way is

The s Secret Model By Cameron Russell
Victoria s Secret Model, Cameron Russell, delivered one of the most profound TED
Talks delivered on the Mid Atlantic stage, according to TED writer Cameron Gallo.
The model explains that though the modeling industry considered her a perfect, she
does not believe her appearance defines her. Thus she came up with the title for her
speech, Looks Aren t Everything... Believe Me, I m a Model. . She specifically
addresses that children need to understand that modelingdoes not constitute a
glamorous career. The industry drowns out personal values, views, and
appearances to warp these characteristics into a general image accepted by the
masses, according to Russell. She describes her view on modeling, and how it
essentially made her feel like a hard shell of a person with no inner value. She ended
by encouraging people to find a balance between outward appearance and inner
beauty.
Looks Aren t Everything.... Believe Me, I m a Model is categorized as TED talk.
These talks are powered by nonprofit organizations dedicated to spreading ideas, in
the form of speeches, demonstrations, and videos. Richard Saul Wormac, describes
the talks as observations and recognition of a powerful convergence among three
fields: technology, entertainment and design (Gallo 3). World class speakers perform
18 20 minute presentations, within the three fields. Cameron Russell addresses each
individual field in her speech, not limiting herself to one specific category. Modeling

The Causes Of Honey Bees
Honey bees, feared by the misinformed and admired by the intelligent, are dying.
The interest in bees from many environmentalists is not for a sudden cause, as this
issue is not new to the world. Honey bees as a population have been in decline for
years but have yet to reach the endangered species list anywhere in the United
States except for Hawaii. Many people kill bees that buzz around joyfully, simply
because they are afraid of being stung by them; however, a vast majority of bees do
not sting and the others do not care. This unfortunate commonality is not even one
of the top causes of the worldwide epidemic of honey bees. Although bees are
jokingly idolized on the internet in pictures and videos as a result of a popular
children s movie, their population decline is in fact quite serious. Honey bees and
other pollinators like birds and insects ensure the pollination of flowering plants and
crops all around the globe. Not only do honey bees pollinate plants that produce the
foods that humans eat, but they also pollinate trees that produce clean oxygen for
Earth. Without honey bees, the world as we know it could soon end, due to carbon
dioxide pollution and lack of farmable foods. The population of honeybees and other
important pollinator beespecies is dwindling due to a dilemma known to scientists as
colony collapse disorder(CCD) because of the use of bee killing pesticides, known as
neonicotinoids, the decrease of flowermeadows in the world, and the general increase
Sherman Alexie Analysis
Racism has always been an issue in America not just only towards Mexicans or
African Americans, but to Native Americans as well. Throughout history, Native
Americans were treated as if they were inanimate objects that they are beneath us,
and even till this day many of them are still being treated that way. The Native
Americans have always been misunderstood what some Americans see is redskins
and not a genuine person no matter the raceor where they came from. No one else
knows more about being a Native American in a world of racism rather than
Sherman Alexie himself who has dealt with these issue s before. He argues not
only his struggles, but also the struggles of other Native Americans a taste of what
its like to be in their shoes what they go through almost every day of their life s.
Sherman Alexie is a well known Native American poet, novelist, performer, and

The resources that are significant for Netflix are divided into two categories that are
tangible and intangible. The tangible resources of the company include financial
assistance, organisational and physical requirements. Financial assistance is
considered as the basic resource because all the operations and functions of the
business are dependent on this resource. For instance, the focus of the company is
that revenue keeps on growing, however, in order to achieve this target, investment
is needed which can be fulfilled by financial resource. Another division of tangible
resource is organisation in which the company need organisational resource for
conducting their functions. It is noticed that Netflix hired about 7 chief managers in
order to ensure that business keeps on running smoothly. Moreover, they also hired
75 employees in their Beverly Hills. These are the organisation resource, which are
also required for performing the basic activities of the business. In terms of physical
resource, the company needs number of DVDs to provide service. It is also one of
the important resources for Netflix because their function takes place on this
particular resource. While on the other hand, intangible resources include human
resource in which the company focused on hiring competent and skilled employees

Italian Immigrants in America Essay
Italian Immigrants in America
Ever since the United States was founded, immigrants have been arriving on its soil.
The first white inhabitants of the U.S. were immigrants from Europe. They came for
many reasons, such as religion and opportunity. As the country grew and became
more prosperous, it became more enticing to foreigners looking for opportunity. This
continued into the 20th century and finally during the 1920 s, the United States
began to restrict immigrants from coming to their country, mostly for cultural and
economic reasons. Even the immigrants that were allowed in during the 20 s faced
many hardships such as religious persecution, racism, and xenia phobia. One of the
major groups of immigrants during that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The old stock Americans weren t used to the immigrants and for this reason they
thought less of them and oppressed them. The Italians and other immigrants were
blamed for many of the nations problems. For example, the government led raids on
immigrants houses because they feared the immigrants were communists. This was
evidenced in the Sacco and Vanzetti trial, when two Italian immigrants were
convicted for murder and the prosecution had no real substantial evidence. They
were convicted mainly because of their beliefs, not their actions. Religious beliefs
also brought the immigrants problems. The KKK was openly anti Catholic and
most of the Italians were catholic. The immigrants and Italians also helped to bring
on prohibition. The Americans didn t approve of their drinking habits; therefore the
prohibition amendment was made for this and other reasons. Job competition was
also a major reason for the racist feelings of the Americans. Native white workers
saw the immigrants as competitors for the jobs that they felt they should have. A
good example of this competition was birds of passage. These were Italian workers
who came to work in the U.S. but later returned to Italy with the money they earned
in the U.S. From 1899 1924 3.8 million Italians came to the United States, but 2.1
million left to return to Italy during the same
Coke Test Lab Report
Introduction The purpose of this experiment is to show how an acid (Coke) can
react together with potassium to create a charger for an iPhone. Potassium and
acid formed together makes bubbles. With both potassium and acid working
together, they will give off energy to the iPhone. Why Coke? Every liquid will be
either acidic or basic traits. An acid base reaction is a chemical reaction that
happens between an acid and a base. There are multiple definitions when
considering the reaction mechanism when solving problems. Regardless of what the
problem is, it s always a known fact that when using liquid or gaseous reactions,
they become less apparent. You want to use Coke because its pH is the acidity of the
substance. For an acidity to be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The banana was used as the main source in this experiment because the main
objective was to find out if a fruit could charge an iPhone without being plugged
into an actual outlet. In this lab, the Coke acts as an acid and the banana is
potassium. The RCA cables were used as connectors to stick one side into the
banana and the other side in the Coke itself. The Coke can is used to basically start
the chemical reaction by the RCA cables that are put inside it which in return is
still connected to the banana. Just like plugging the cables into a television, the
red cable is usually used for right analog audio (the red goes in at the top end of the
banana which is to the right) and the white cable is usually used for mono analog
audio (the white goes in at the end of the fruit which is to the left.) The team used
an iPhone because something electronic had to be used in this particular experiment
to get the results that we were looking for so an iPhone was the chosen item. The
iPhone charger is used to put into the Coke can while it is plugged into the actual
iPhone to see if we get results or not; this determined whether or not the iPhone can
be charged by a fruit. If the iPhone comes on, this indicates that it is charging through
the chemical reaction and if it doesn t, this could possibly mean the chemical reaction
wasn t strong enough, something went wrong during the procedure of the actual lab,
and/or an
The Outsiders Should Not Be Banned
The Outsiders English teachers in middle schools and high schools have been
through many debates over the years on whether or not a certain book should be
taught to students in United States public schooling systems. The Outsiders, is a
book that should not be on the list of banned books. Believe it or not the book has
been banned from schools and libraries. The Outsiders should not be banned because
it provides valuable life lessons involving loyalty. Books like this one, that involve
gangmembers, fighting, shooting, stabbing and other gory incidents, should be
portrayed to kids in middle schooland beyond. This generation that people are
growing up in nowadays is a weak, soft generation who need to realize that the
world is not always going to be kind to them. The neighborhoods that a lot of kids
live in are safe environments, which is not a bad thing, but they are unaware of the
horrible things that go on in the ghettos or other places in our nation. Books are a
great way to reach out to kids and show them valuable life lessons while also giving
them learning experiences through that English class they are enrolled in. The
author of this novel, The Outsiders, Susan Eloise Hinton, is a very popular author
of young adult fiction stories and she is especially popular in the Oklahoma area
because she makes the setting in a lot of her books from that area. She wrote the
books That Was Then, This Is Now, Rumble Fish, Tex, and Taming The Star Runner.

Essay about Ranking The Present Enterprise Purchasers

Economical Purchasers
This type of customer comes with perhaps the lengthiest record of criteria and
requirements. These customers want highest possible, make use of, but they also are
the right classification for the supplier who wants to keep handle his organization
after it is marketed. Most economical customers provide a reduced sticker cost than
other kinds, but they do often allow for what may be essential to the supplier other
than the money such as choice of key workers, place, and other problems.
For a business to be of interest to a economical customer, the earnings must be
adequate not only to support current control, but also to offer a come back to the
proprietor.
Individual Customer
When it comes a chance to offer, most entrepreneurs of the little to mid sized
company move toward this customer. Many of these customers are older (aged 40
to 60) and have been well seasoned in the business industry. Being in the company is
a desire, and won many of them can well manage. The key to nearing this type of
customer is to discover out what it is they are really looking for.
The customer who needs to substitute a job is can be an outstanding probability.
Although being in a company is more than a job, and the threats engaged can terrify
this type of customer, they do have the hunger and the need. A further benefits is that
this type of customer comes with less strings and problems than
Formal Education In Porirua Friday Night By Sam Hunt
In the poem, Porirua Friday Night by Sam Hunt, there is an important idea. An
important idea addressed in this poem is the importance of formal education. Porirua
Friday Night is about a young teenage girl from the perspective of the man in the
poem. Formal education is important to teenagers because it will help their wellbeing
and help them succeed later in life.
An important idea in the poem is formal education. Formal education is education
based inside a classroom, taught by trained teachers and is systematic. This idea of
formal education is apparent in this text as it says certain phrases such as A year
ago, she s now left school meaning that she dropped out of school a year prior to
when this poem took place and multiple quotes indicating that she is a teenager or
she is of young age such as; Acne blossoms scarlet on their cheeks , Fourteen when
I met her first and Pinned across this young girl s breast . Also, the idea of formal
education is apparent in the setting and in the title as it sets place in Porirua, a town
of low socioeconomic status meaning that the residents there have low income and
perhaps discontinuing can be a common occurrence with can explain the low
socioeconomic status with not many people having a high source of income. Being
a student partaking in formal education, I am able to relate to this idea as I like the
idea of formal education as it helps us to learn better and more clear with experienced
teachers and the environment the

These previous words by Ursula Burns display her resilience to prove her worth to
the business world, regardless of her gender and the color of her skin. The basic
idea of this case was to display the significance of Burns helm at CEO and what she
has done to attempt in making Xerox the leading company in its industry again. In
terms of breaking diversity barriers, Burns became the first African American woman
to lead a major U.S. corporation and the first CEO to take the reins from another
woman, which was Anne M. Mulcahy (Byrnes and Crockett, 2009). However, Burns
had been a staple at Xerox, working at various influential roles over the past few
decades. From starting as an summer intern at Xerox in 1980, to working in the
custom systems division in the 1980 s, to holding the general manager and vice
president worldwide manufacturing position in the late 1990 s, and finally being
groomed by Mulcahy to eventually become Xerox s CEO, Burns built up a resume
full of a variety of experiences and deliverables (Byrnes and Crockett, 2009). Once

The Is Not Our Type
On Monday, September 14, my partner and I set out to find someone that was Not
our Type . When I first heard about the assignment I was extremely nervous for
what would lie ahead. I m not a very talkative person and hardly ever just have
random conversations with people that I don t know. I knew that this assignment
would certainly get me out of my comfort zone, and cause me to really branch out. A
huge part of talking to others about Christ is to just start up a simple conversationto
work off of. It can become even more difficult when someone has a different
background or separate moral values. I was by no means looking forward to the
awkwardness that would possibly lie ahead, we decided that the best place to start
would be Walmart since people are there 24/7. We walked in at around 9 p.m. and
started our search. After about 20 minutes we finally decided to make our move on
someone. We walked up to a young man that looked to be in high school and began
our conversation. We started off by just introducing ourselves and telling him that we
were working on an assignment and just wanted to get to know him a little bitbetter.
The conversationactually flowed really well and we had a lot in common like our
love for sports and technology. His name is Dilan Patel and he s a junior at Siloam
High. You can probably tell by the last name that Dilan is Indian. I knew going into
the conversation that he would be very different from us morally, ethnically, and even
physically.
Red Eared Slider Research Paper
The Red Eared Slider is one of the most common Mid South East Coast. They can be

include: Eastern Box Turtle, Common Snapping Turtles, Eastern Painted Turtle, Red
Bellied, Bog Turtle, Spotted Turtle, Musk Turtle, Eastern Mud Turtle, Northern
Diamondback, and Wood Turtle. The Red Eared Slider is named for the distinctive

To warm up, they bask in the sun. In winter, all reptiles in our area must hibernate
to survive the cold. This explains the uncommon sighting of most turtles this time
of the season. But as soon as the weather warms up, the turtles start to come out to
bask for warmth. When we were on our class trip to Prospect Park in Brooklyn, we
encountered a dead turtle. The lifeless shell was flipped over and cracked. It
almost appeared as it was frozen. As discussed as a class, what we were observing
was in fact a turtle trying to bask in the sun on a warm spring day and the weather
turn for the worst the following day, leaving the turtle to suffer. Another example
of a turtle encounter was last summer in central park. On a warm sunny day, I went
on a boat ride in the central park pond. On the nearby rocks, there were numerous
turtles basking in the sun and cooled off by diving into the water. With my
fascination of turtles, I made the person rowing with me row closer to get an up

they are brought into an area as pets and then released by owners. This causes stress

Three Different Types Of Teachers
What is a teacher? A teacher is someone who provides education for students,
someone who delivers a message for the future generation and someone who is
willing to strive to help students expand their knowledge. However, not all teachers
are the same. The fact that each teacher has her own personality, style and interaction
with students makes the teachers come in three different types. The first type of
teachers, the strict teacher, is always undesirable with the students. The strict teacher
has an unpleasant face. She ll walk into the class without a smile on her face neither
a salute. Usually teachers would wait for students to come after class begins, she
doesn t. The strict teacher would let a studentgo back home and mark them... Show

The friendly teacher does always have a smile on her face. She ll come to class
greeting all the students. If you got late for the class about 10 minutes, she will
allow you to come to class. The friendly teacher always pushes her students to
participate during the lecture, she will try her best to make learning interesting as
well as creative. The friendly teacher would let you go to restrooms once during
the class. After having the break, she ll let you eat something if you didn t have
the time to. The friendly teacher would give you an assignment for each week, to
get enough time to do it. She is the right person to consult your problems with. For
instance, if you got a problem outside the class in any particular area of study she
will be very helpful. Moreover, she is considered to be a good listener, she will
find the right solution for any problem you have. The friendly teacher would let
you know about each quiz you re having before getting it, so you have the right
time to study for it. Even though the friendly teacher is a good teacher, you still
have to be active with her. She is a kind of a teacher who every student would want

Britain s Victory Of The Falklands War
Britain s victory in the Falklands War undoubtedly contributed to the Conservative
Party s election victory in 1983. However, it should not be considered essential to this
triumph. Historians such as Helmut Norpoth have suggested that the Falklands factor
significantly increased the popularity of the Thatcher administration and resulted in
her re election. Dennis Kavanagh noted the effect on the war on Margaret Thatcher s
image and emphasised the importance of this during the election campaign.
Nevertheless, the Conservative success in 1983 must be attributed primarily to the
pre war circumstances including the poor public perception of the Labour Party
following their tenure in office prior to 1979 and Thatcher s social and economic
policies. The Conservative victory was not down to a singular event, but a
combination of events that all affected her image and her perception by the British
electorate. Had Labour been a stronger opponent, the Conservatives may not have
won in 1983. The most valid conclusion drawn is that of Peter Riddell; the 1983
election was a result of opposition weaknesses and the dividing role of the Alliance
rather than the Falklands factor.
The Falklands conflict was, in the opinion of both Thatcher and many historians
believed to be a key reason for Thatcher s re election. The fact that the Conservatives
had a jump in support of 11 per cent between February and July 1982 showed that the
conflict was beneficial to the party, despite initial resistance
Functions And Objectives Of Food And Beverage
Management
All resources are in limited supply. No manager has all the materials, money, time,
and other resources that he or she would like to work with. Therefore, part of the
manager s job is to determine how best to use the limited resources available to attain
the organization s objectives.
Food and Beverage Objectives:
Objectives state what the management of the operation wishes to accomplish. They
indicate why the business exists and what it is trying to do. The objectives of a food
and beverage operation often center on such things as:
Profit levels
Maintaining or increasing financial strength during changing social and economic
conditions
Guest (marketing) concerns
Management and employee interests
Professional obligations
Societal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Good control procedures alone will not enable the food and beverage operation to
meet its objectives. It is important to recognize that although our discussion in this
course focuses on control, managers must address the other management functions as
well.
The Manager in the Management Process:
Responsibilities of managers: A manager is a staff member who:
1 Decides how to use organizational resources to attain objectives, and;
2 Participates in the management tasks of planning organizing, coordinating, staffing,
leading, controlling, and evaluating.
Since most managers supervise employees, they are also responsible for the
performance of those employees. To a large extent, managers are only as successful
as their employees. Being held accountable for their own work as well as the work of
others is unique to those in management positions.
Attributes of Good Managers:
A good manager not only knows the basic management principles but is able to put
them into practice. While knowledge alone cannot replace experience and common
sense, it is a vital ingredient in creative decision making. The remainder of this
chapter focuses on basic concepts of
Poehler Antique Mall In Empori Unpacking The Object
1.Unpacking the Object
What is this object? An antique wooden chair
What does the object look like? Antique, old, worn wood. There are curvy edges
on the backrest portion. The wood is very worn on the seat part, and there is a lot
of dust on the chair. The right side of the chair is broken in a jagged break.
Where did you obtain this object? I found this at the Poehler Antique Mall in
Emporia, KS. The antique mall is located on Commercial Street.
Where can you find similar objects? At this antique store, there were tons of old chairs
. You could find more there. I would assume that a lot of antique stores have old
pieces of furniture like this chair. There are probably a lot of these types of chairs in
older style homes. They could be found in table and chair sets, or they could be
possibly found in a church.
What is it made of? Wood and screws.
Who made it? Back in history the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I found this object because I like upcycling. Taking old antique items and turning
them into something more modern and useful. I think restoring an object and making
it personal to yourself.
Who or what does this object represent? I think this object represents middle class
people. Often the middle class is overlooked and are considered average. This chair
is overlooked too because it is a piece of furniture that almost everyone has, and we
don t often think about how the chair got there or how the chair was made. I think
this is similar with a lot of people in the world. Many people go unnoticed. I hope
that by adding color to this old chair, will be like the colorful personalities many
people have, which makes them stand out above others.
What does this object mean to you? I became invested in this chair, I spent a lot of
time and money on this project. I hope the chair will add a new style to my room. It
means something special to me because I took something old and gave it a new look,
but the object still does the same
Analysis Of Dm Slides
We used Sam S. to represent cool in our advertisement. He is wearing a tank top
and is the only one in the hallway wearing the DM Slides. He could be seen as the
trendsetter of the school. Sam K. notices this in the first scene of the ad. One
common fear of HPHS students is not fitting in . I believe that this is a shared fear
because people fear not having any friends and being outside of the in crowd. If
people think that what they re wearing is no longer in style and new fashion styles
are being brought in, they will likely follow these trends as a desperate attempt to
assure their social status and become once again a desirable member of society.

For example, the commons are a place where cool people eat lunch with a clean
glass window making it very easy to see who is sitting in there. So if cool people
wear our slides, the insecure students striving to be like the confident kids in the
commons have something to improve on, their shoes. As a marketing strategy it could
be very beneficial towards our brand to provide DM Slides to kids sitting in the
commons for a cheaper price, or even free to promote the quantity of cool kids
wearing them. This will result in a trickle down effect that is seen throughout all
clothing phases; the trendsetters set, and everyone else consumes. Throughout my
4 years at HPHS we have observed that popularity and the high school standard of
happiness revolves around a very unique cycle. This consists of the logic that if
higher up people like you, you get to sit in the commons, and as a result, boys and
especially girls (from a boy s perspective), will notice you. This brings up the
opposing philosophy that if you are not constantly noticed you lose value
/popularity. The cool kids, although may be very insecure personally, surround
themselves with other confident kids to hide their individuality. By branding our
slides to represent the newest trend of cool, students who feel they are on the cusp of
being cool can now finally get their big break. Our product s clever name evokes a
mixture of emotions from our audience. DM Slides is a play off of the term DM s
which is a pop culture abbreviation for Direct Messages, which is what you use to
contact your desired lover. Slide is a new common pop culture term used to represent
going forth and messaging the person. For example, Keith slid into Ashley s DM s

Bread Mold Experiment Essay
Bread Mold Experiment By: Stephanie Westover
PURPOSE
The purpose of this experiment will be to determine how temperature affects the
growth of mold on wheat bread. The researchers choose this topic because she
thinks it will be beneficial to find a way to keep food from molding. Determining
how long bread can be stored before molding can help save money, prevent illness
and preserve freshness. The question the researcher will attempt to answer is how
freezing affects the rate of mold growth in wheat bread.
The information gathered in this experiment may be relevant to those individuals
who contend with food borne molds at home, or professionally. Because the rate of
mold growth can vary depending ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Controlling for those 2 factors while maintaining proper and consistent measurement
procedures should provide a repeatable and reliable understanding of how temperature
variations affect mold growth.
Because the researcher will be measuring mold growth on food and because there is
rarely if ever an acceptable level of mold growth on food, absolute precision in
measurement is not necessary. This experiment is designed to measure the relative
growth of mold across temperatures, not the exact level of mold growth on an
individual piece. Therefore, measurement in units of 16th of an inch using a standard
fractional rule should suffice. A fractional ruler was used because it easier to utilize in
measuring the mold than any other measuring device.
Controlled variables:
Standard ruler: 6 stainless steel ruler with graduations to the 32nd of an inch.
Type of bread purchased: Western Family wheat bread.
Date the bread was purchased: All bread samples will be from the same loaf
purchased the day the experiment begins.
Size of the bread piece: Each sample is one slice.
Sterility: Each sample will placed in a sealed bag, preventing the introduction of
extraneous bacteria.
Moisture: Each sample will placed in a sealed bag, preventing the introduction of
moisture.
Light: Each bag will be exposed to the same amount of light for the same duration
each day.
Size of the Zip Lock baggies: Each bag will be the same size.

Radiation Is Natural Part Of The Earth
Radiation is natural part of the Earth. Radiation exists all around us, in the air, the
soil, and rock. Humans have lived, and thrived in a radioactive environment since
the beginning of time. Radon is one form of radiation, it s odorless, tasteless,
invisible, and it s in the air we breathe. Cosmic radiation is in space as heavily
charged particles and gamma rays. Terrestrial radiation is emitted naturally in the
form of heat from the Earth. Then we have manmade radiation. In 1895 Roentgen
discovered radiation in his laboratory, the medical benefits of this invisible source of
energy were experimented with in every direction from beauty, to health for many
years, and continues to this day. Radiation is a part of our environment both naturally
and unnaturally (Sources of Radiation Exposure. (2013, June 12). Retrieved from
http://epa.gov/radiation/sources/index.html). Just as the Earth has supplied us with
natural radiation, it has supplied us with ways in which to protect us through
nutrition. In the same way we can protect ourselves from natural radiation, we can
protect ourselves from unnatural radiation. Minerals, spices, herbs, seaweed, and
plants bind the radiation particles in our bodies and are removed naturally. Our
bodies are incredible healing machines, given the correct nutrition and avoiding foods
that impair the immune system, we are designed to heal and thrive in a world filled
with toxins and even radiation. Natural sources of radiation are everywhere.
Dogtown And Z-Boys Analysis
Skateboarding was created as an extension of surfing in 1950 s and 1960 s. This
style was viewed as a graceful sport, but lacked legitimate attention from the public,
leading to its inevitable decline in popularity. Former Zephyr team member, Stacy

experiences the Zephyr skateboarding team in his documentary, Dogtown and Z

modern skateboarding. The documentary and film conventions used in Peralta s

A Tale Of Two Cities Sacrifice Analysis
The Colombian hit singer Shakira says, You can t achieve anything without sacrifice.
This principle has been illustrated in the lives of thousands of people, not only in real
life, but spanning across the expanses of literature as well. Similarly, notwithstanding
their different story lines and centuries, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseiniand A
Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens are linked in the principle of sacrifice: they
are never easy; however, the necessity of sacrifice results in people who are willing
to make them, especially to achieve freedom, and protect those they love. Characters
in both The Kite Runner and A Tale of Two Cities are willing to sacrifice in order to
free themselves and others. Charles Darnay, the would be... Show more content on

evidenced by his reaction to Assef s beating. Amir s body was broken just how
badly I wouldn t find out until later but I felt healed. I laughed (Hosseini 289).
Moreover, Amir s sacrifice is also to help free Sohrab from Assef. Even when Amir
would like nothing more than to leave Afghanistan, he stays to help Sohrab. He
spends countless hours talking to lawyers and on phone calls to ensure that
Sohrab will never have to live in the captivity of an orphanage again. Amir s
sacrifice to free himself as well as Sohrab exemplifies the force of freedom as a
cause for sacrifice. Similarly, Sydney Carton sacrifices for the freedom of others.
He gives everything he has, including his life, to allow Lucie and her family to
escape France and live in freedom. Carton goes voluntarily to the guillotine in place
of Darnay, not because of an obligation, but because it was his own idea in the first

themselves willingly to achieve their goal of freedom for themselves or others.

The Trump s Political Rise During The Presidential...
The Trump Effect
Donald Trump s meteoric political rise during the Presidential Election of 2016 put
attention on the media and the way they covered the election and will forever change
both politics and media going forward. The media was shown to be a bias, ratting
chasing, and corrupt extension of the political parties. We will encompass the entire
campaign from the June 2015 announcement that he was running, covering the
primaries, then to the convention, along the path of the general campaign, and finally
in the post election coverage. We will look at the financials, the main stream medias
role, and changes that are necessary going forward.
Let us start with a recap. On Tuesday June 16, 2015 Donald J. Trump came down the
escalator at his Trump Towerproperty and announced the official launch of his
presidential campaign. Much like everything else he did in this campaign it was
mired in controversy as this was the venue of the infamous statement and I quote
when Mexico send their people they aren t sending their best their rapist, their
murders and drug dealers... Initial reaction to Trump s announcement was mixed.
Some thought it was a P.R stunt thinking he would quit after a few weeks, others
started calling foul on his bigoted and racist statements against Mexicans, and yet
some where excited having longed for a common sense business minded person to
run the country.
Trump started the Republican Primary Process against 18 opponents. The top ten

The Giver Community Is A Dystopia Essay
The giver community is a dystopia. I know this because when you compare the
giver community to our world it takes a minute but I guarantee it is a dystopia, you
can see this because on the out side looking in, you know all of the secrets that make
up the giver community. another reason it is a dystopia is because when people
imagine a perfect world it is not anything like the community of the giver, lastly is the
fact that the government plans out people s lives. I will go into detail and make
many other points in this essay about both sides of this question.
The giver community is a dystopia first of all because when you are on the outside

This is just one of the many examples in the book that show that the government can
control your life. Not to mention how they also control your significant other, your
job, your siblings, and your life decisions, and even your personality traits. Just think
about no being able to choose the person your supposed to love and get through life
together with.
You could argue that the community is a utopia because everyone is happy and
that the people not knowing what is going on is a good thing. Or that people not
saying mean things and expressing what they truly feel is a good thing because it
won t cause arguments and fights. Even the fact that people don t have a choice
with family and more importantly significant others could mean that there are no
divorces and no fights about who Marries who. Another example why it could be a
utopia is that people don t have to choose their jobs so they don t need too tire
themselves out working super hard just to get the job that you want. I agree that the
government choosing and planning your whole life out for you can be a good thing.
But their are so many other bad things about the community that it outweighs all of
the good.
In conclusion I think that the leader is dehumanizing the community and focusing
too much on the requirements to have a utopia and not how the actual citizens would
feel if they knew
Social Satire In Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey
Oh! It is only a novel! : Social Satire in Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey
Jane Austen is well known as a novelist for her satirical representation of female
characters in late Georgian society. During this period, novel writing and reading
was still a controversial topic, and as such was incorporated in her book Northanger
Abbey (1817), which has at its core a young female protagonist obsessed with
novels. We can clearly interpret Northanger Abbey as Austen s satirical response to
the social conventions decrying novel reading, as she uses an intrusive narrator and
more subtle supplementary techniques to comment on and satirize the debate
surrounding novels.
The first way to ascertain that Austen is commenting on the social debate around
novels is the fact that Austen explicitly mentions it through the use of the intrusive
narrator, defined in Baldick s The Oxford Dictionary of ... Show more content on

Symptoms And Treatment Of Crohn s Disease
Crohn s disease had a long way to travel before it was given its name. In 1913, Dr.
Dalzid was the first to recognize that there was a disease that was different from
intestinal tuberculosis (Dr. Crohn, 2009 2015). He noticed this difference, and had a
hypothesis that this different disease could be caused by a different bacteria. His
scientific guess was that this different disease was caused by mycobacterium (Dr.
Crohn, 2009 2015). Yet, all of the test done on the tissue that was taken from patients
came up negative for that bacteria (Dr. Crohn, 2009 2015). It wasn t until later when

The focus is on Irene Adler, her naked body with white question marks placed
beside her head, and then jump cut to Dr. Watson, who has specific labels placed
on his describing himself according to Sherlock ( ). In this scene, we begin to see
Sherlock s weakness, which is Irene, because he could not figure her out based on
physical appearance. The choice of no pieces of clothing placed a significant part
in this discovery. Without the secret, specific intimate details provided by the
clothing, Sherlock was unable to draw inspiration from Irene. Then at 26:24, we
see Sherlock hand over his black, signature coat for Irene to cover her naked body
with. She sits down and begins to engage in a conversation with Sherlock and
Holmes. From 26:20 till 26:56, the audience see firsthand that Irene is more than a
sexual object, but a woman of intellect and mystery. Revealing information about
the unreleased murder case, both men are surprised and amazed by her capabilities
of finding information. In this, she is quoted saying that, I know one of the

stories, and detectives. Brain is the new sexy. ( ). Irene, from reading this, is a
woman who knows what she wants, how to get it and is very persuasive when doing
so. Irene wearing the black coat, made famous by Sherlock, symbolizes that Irene, in
that moment, holding the brains in the room. She is commanding attention for brain,
through her wits and charms, but proves to the men that she is just as capable of

throughout the episode. This plays hand in hand with the genre of the episode which
is a detective show. Now, with her having a conversation with the two men, it also

inclusion. The newest residence hall building, Farrington Square Apartment, is
now available for all gender rooming, which means girls and boys can live together
in one room. Residence Life, Residential Service, and the Pride Center believe, This
is an active effort to align Lehigh s living options with the Principles of Our
Equitable Community . Even though to some extent, it is hard for people, who
traditionally lived in dormitories divided into male and female, to become
accustomed to the gender inclusive rooming, this decision is a huge progress Lehigh
made in giving students a sense of belonging and allowing them to experience more
diverse living styles. It stands to reason that gender neutral rooming is definitely
beneficial to give students a sense of inclusion, especially for transgenderand gender
non conforming students. Ashley Lemmons, the director of Residence Life, wrote in
an email that : Students at Lehigh should feel a sense of belonging to Lehigh and
should also find micro community within Lehigh where they feel at home. Providing
students with all gender housing options enables them to feel Lehigh cares about
their feelings and emotions indeed. It is a well established fact that if you feel
unsure about yourself to be a girl
Najma Quotes
(MIP 3) Though war has severe negative impacts upon the characters, those who
survive ultimately come out stronger because of it. (SIP A) Circumstances
resulting from war can lead to younger people becoming more mature. (STEWE 1)
Najmah, for instance, starts off as a child who, when Baba jan says Nur can carry
water better, thinks I want to tell him that I can carry as much water as Nur, who is
not much bigger, and as quickly, too (Staples 9). In addition to being angry about
being thought of as less capable than Nur, Najmah also is reluctant to wake up in
the morning (Staples 4) and is afraid of leopards, although she admits I have never
seen one in my life (Staples 6). All these traits reveal Najmah as the child that she is.
However, after the Taliban take... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nur clearly now knows where his responsibilities lie. He takes charge, stepping up
to convince Nusrat that this is what they must do. As with Najmah, he has grown up
because of the war. (SIP B) Najmah and Nusrat grow in other ways too because of
the war; they both learn how important it is to value the family they have left.
(STEWE 1) Soon after Nur is taken, Najmah says I have forgotten my childish
quarrels with Nur I am no longer angry with him for scaring me about the leopard,
and for saying I can t carry water as far as he can. It s as if these things never
happened, and all I want is to see the top of his head and Baba jan s as they trudge
up the hill, carrying water from the Baba Darya (Staples 37). She only now
realizes how much she appreciates Nur because he is no longer there, while her
newfound maturity has led to her being able to move past differences they had as
children. Furthermore, Najmah trusts him implicitly, admitting Nur lead me on so
many chases to childish fear and anger. But even then I knew he would have laid
down his life for me (Staples 245). She has always valued Nur, but it is only after
losing him that she realizes how
The Second Coming By W. B. Yeats
The Second Coming by W. B. Yeats, was written in 1919 following World War I and
was to present the idea that he thought that the apocalypse as presented in the Book
of Revelation from the Bible was about to begin. The poem does not mention the
second coming of Christ but rather focuses on the coming of the antichrist, meaning
Yeats could only see despair, hopelessness, and chaos in the world. These
sentiments of Yeats and others are due to war damages, collapsing economies, and
the coming of the Great Depression and the Irish civil war. The word choice, meter,
persona, subject, and lack of mention of Christ all collectively contribute to reflecting
Yeats sentiments in the poem. Several lines in the poem support this mentality of
despair and chaos. Turning and turning in the widening gyre refers to the worsening
state of society with the collapse of democratic governments and economies. (1) The
second line, The falcon cannot hear the falconer means that any sense of hierarchy
and authority has been lost. The best people don t have the conviction to combat the
growing evil and the worst, the sinners, are full of passionate intensity meaning the
world is filled with those who wish to do evil. (7 8) These lines emphasize the
corruption that the world is falling into. The selection of adjectives and nouns used in
the poem carry a negative connotation reflecting the negatives thoughts of the state of
the world. Yeats uses words such as blood dimmed, anarchy,

What Were The Salem Witch Trials
What Were the Salem Witch Trials and What Were its Aftermaths? START OF
WITCHCRAFT HYSTERIAA considerable lot of the American settlers carried
with them, from Europe, a faith in witches and the devil. Amid the seventeenth
century, individuals were often executed for being witches and worshiper of
Satan. The Puritan town of Salem was home to where many executions of witches
took place, more commonly known as the Salem witch trials. A scandalous scene
in American history, the Salem witch trials of 1692 brought about the execution by
hanging of fourteen ladies and five men blamed for being witches. The mass
hysteria of witchcraft came to be when nine year old Betty Parris and eleven year
old Abigail Williams began to display strange behavior. Betty first exhibited
symptoms in January of 1692, where she started to shout blasphemies, mimic
animal sounds, and cry out in pain. Soon after, Abigail began to display similar
symptoms. Determined to find the root of this problem, civilians questioned a lady
that Betty and Abigail mentioned. Tituba, an Indian slave, confessed immediately
after being questioned. She claimed witchcraft was practiced by many in her area.
It was impossible to tell if she was telling the truth or not, but that was not what
mattered, there had been a confession, and that was what mattered (Hill 27). News
spread of witchcraft in Salem and thus started the mass hysteria in Salem. SALEM

The Triangular Trade Or Golden Triangle
a)Slaves from Africa were always described as being fit, strong and accustomed to
the heat. In other words, they were accustomed to the tropical condition in the
Caribbean. The first to begin the Triangular Trade or Golden Triangle were the
Portuguese in 1471. Europe was amid their time of disclosure and since they gained
land in the Caribbeanthey wanted something to do with it. Their optimal point was
gold; they were just fortunate with having farming land and soon acknowledged they
required a work power to do the grimy employment particularly since sugar was
turning into the chief product in the European market. Europeans figured out how to
begin conveying Africans to the Caribbean in return for things like weapons, whisky,
black powder,

Contemporary Information Security Systems And

According to identitytheft.info, almost 15 million Americans have their identity used
fraudulently due to information leaks and information insecurities. With the growing
dependency on computer systems to store confidential information across the world,
it is only necessary that that the information be protected by strong securitysystems
which include both hardware and software so that both the businesses and the
consumers feel safe in the transportation of information over the inter webs.
Contemporary Information securitysystems use many different components involving
both hardware and software
Primarily, User Access Control or UAC systems are combinations of identification,
authentication, and authorization that helps restrict users to what information they
can access in a database system with certain read and write rights. Most of the
identification systems operate by using a simple serial ID followed by an identity
challenge such as a password (Blanding F. 2004). UAC is the most fundamental
access control technology as without it, there cannot be further information systems.
Within the UAC system, the system administrator designates users rights and
accesses which helps develop the login authentication aspect. The system
administrator is the primary local account that authorized personnel can use to create
system logins for users with certain privileges. It most cases, the administrator is only
responsible for creating the username , often designated as the
Injustice Reflection Paper
The story that I m going to be talking about that is an injustice that was unfair in my
eyes is something that happened to me in the 2nd grade. Even though this
happened such a long time ago I still think about it to this day and its like a ghost
almost haunting me when it pops into my head at random times. It may have not
been that bad in someone else s eyes but in mine being only 7 years old and never
getting in trouble before this especially not as bad as this it was very traumatic.
This is the story of what had happened with the injustice that happened to me. One
day during class I had decided to go to the restroom and the restrooms were in
portables. We had to walk a bit away to the bathroom. As I was walking to the
bathroom portables I saw a girl run past me who also came from the bathroom but I
didn t think anything of it. When I got to the restroom I noticed that the janitor
was at the restroom doing what he needed to do but wasn t there. His cart had just
been there so I assumed he was off somewhere else. I did my business then as I was
coming out the janitor came up to me and started yelling at me. I was confused
because I was just going to the bathroom. He was saying things about how I
thought it was real funny to lock the stalls from the inside while the janitor was
there. I simply said I didn t do it but the janitor of course didn t believe me because
who would believe a 7 year old s word. The girl who was running away had been
the one to lock the stalls from the inside so that the janitor would have a hard time
while he was doing his job. Since I was in the scene of the crime they assumed it
was me even though numerous times I tried to tell them that it wasn t me who had
did it. He took me to the principals off explaining to the principal what happened
and what I had done. Again, I tried to tell the principal that I didn t do it but again
they didn t believe me. I ended up getting a referral for something that I didn t do.
I was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. No one ever ended up believing
me on the situation expect for my mother. When I had to tell her about the referral
she was the only one who had believed my story.
Since I was just a child of course no one would have believed
14 Year Olds Research Paper
I believe it would be beneficial to let 14 year olds into the army. They are
courageous and are wanting to join either way. Many more would come rushing to
the camps to join. However, they could make small mistakes in a time of war. It
sounds like it would work well, though, because it means we would have a larger
army. The 14 year olds would be determined to succeed, and they want to be able to
fight. They want in so badly that they already cheat the system to enlist. We can use
that to our advantage, because it would mean that they would be so excited they
would just run straight into enemy lines in the name of the union. With that many
fighters begging to join, we may not even need to draft people anymore. Not only
would this plan

Introduction Termites are small insects. They are very social animals. They have
three basic groups in their society. Like any other animal communication is very
important to termites. Termites use chemicals known as pheromones for
communicating. The solvents in the ink of Papermate and Bic ballpoint pens have
been discovered to be similar to the pheromones termites use for communication.
The purpose for doing this lab is to have a better understanding of termites and

Executive Privilege In The United States Vs. Richard Nixon
In the Supreme Court case United States vs. Richard Nixon there was a lot of
controversy about Nixon s executive privilege. Well, what is an executive privilege?
It is known as the privilege, or special right, claimed by the president in the executive
branch of the US government, of withholding information in the public interest.
Although Presidents get special privileges, their rights are not absolute and must be
balanced against other political interests (United Statesvs. Nixon). Nixon abused his
right of Executive privilege when he helped his government officials break into the
Watergate complex. It was said that the Watergate affair relates to the re election of
Richard Nixon, which later worked out in his favor because he won the election.
Well how did this get to the courts? With more than 5 people involved in the
scandal, they broke into the Democratic National Committee in Washington D.C.
and wiretapped the phones in the building and also stole important documents. The
burglars discovered that the microphones weren t working so they broke in again to
try to get them and put new ones in, but got caught by a security guard who noticed
that the door locks were taped over. They didn t know for sure if President Nixon
was involved until they found copies of the White House s reelection... Show more

The judges stated that neither the doctrine of separation of powers, nor the
generalized need for confidentiality of high level communications, without more, can
sustain an absolute, unqualified, presidential privilege (United States v. Nixon/Oyez).
The courts agreed that there is limited executive privilege that a president can pursue
in either military or diplomatic instances. Nixon abused his executive privilege and
has the right to obey the court with providing the tapes and documents that the
burglars stole in the break in and must now face the consequences of his actions.
Nixon resigned not much longer after releasing the tapes to the
Analysis Of Canzon Septimi A 8
Many ensembles across the world dedicate time to learning and performing early
renaissance music. When practicing music not from this era, it is easy to perform it
incorrectly and not give the work the justice it deserves. Ensembles that do not take
careful time and consideration to study the style of early musicand the techniques they
must use when performing these pieces, ultimately fail when attempting to perform
early music. When performing early music, such as Canzon Septimi Toni a 8,
musicians must study the styles and techniques musicians in that time period
implemented, reciprocate the tone, timbre and articulations used in the renaissanceera
for this specific work, transpose the piece to their instrument, and know the
differences between early and modern instrumentation needed to perform the piece.
Giovanni Gabrieli, the man who composed Canzon Septimi Toni a 8, was a well
known Renaissance composer born in 1556. Not only that, but he was an organist
and teacher who learned everything he knew from his uncle, Andrea Gabrieli, whom
he has to thank for his musical upbringing. Gabrieli himself was highly regarded and
praised for his contributions to instrumental music for church use as well as choral
and instrumental motets. Gabrieli also made use of the San Marco church layout; the
two separate choirlofts in the church allowed him to create salient spatial effects,
which in turn heavily influenced his style of music. Unfortunately, his health began
to suffer and

Power Of Habit Chapter Summary
Is Change possible
Can people change? Most people say one can t change, everyone always stays the
same. In the book The power of Habit by Charles Duhigg, he talks about the powers
of a habit s and how one can change these habits. A habit is something someone
practices continually, that is hard to give up. My habit is smoking, every time I go
somewhere in my car I feel like smoking a cigarette. Duhigg hypothesizes that
change can happen through the manipulation of one s habit loop. The Habit loop is
divided into 3 parts, the cue, the routine and finally the reward. To be able to change
the particular habit one first has to identify what their loop is. I will be using Duhigg
s ideas of habit, to change my habit of smoking through the use of an ... Show more

This can be easier said than done because to be able to change the routine the
reward has to be the same. To change the routine Duhigg suggests that one may use
the Golden rule of habit change. This is the thing that will replace the routine in
my case smoking, exchanging it with something else. In the book, Duhigg uses an
example where someone is trying to change their habit of nail biting. He suggests
that this person should find a new stimulation, he said this would help them get rid
of the nail biting but keep the same reward. He suggested ... rubbing her arms or
rapping her knuckles on a desk anything that would produce a physical response.
(Duhigg, 76). This may only work if one has a Role of belief in habit change. What
he meant by that Is understanding the habit loop identifying the craving and
wanting to change the routine of the bad habit. To be able to change my routine I
had to identify the craving which was the nicotine from the cigarette. Then I had
to identify my golden rule of habit change which is either using an e cigarette or
drinking coffee. At last I had to find the Role belief in habit change. The best way
to do this is to find a community, People or a group of people that want to achieve
the same goal. Duhigg used alcoholics to portray the power and impact a
community can have on changing a habit. He believes that AA trains people in
how to believe in something until they believe in the program and themselves.
(Duhigg, 85). In my chase, I had a friend who also wanted to quit so we decided to
go for coffee once a day for a week. Instead of being in a social environment that
would provoke us to smoke we meet up in a small coffee and socialized while
drinking our coffee. This gave the same reward as smoking because coffee had
caffeine and It gave the same social
Lab Report On Biodiversity
Joanna Martinez BIO111L 17 07 December 2017 Lab Report 10 As global
population increases, the more resources are needed and become high in demand.
Some of the resources that are in high demand are fuel, water and food.
Biodiversity is very important for humans to understand because it helps us to
understand the variation of species and how life originated on planet earth.
Biodiversity is crucial to this planet because if the chain is disturbed then the planet
could be put to a halt. Humans are interdependent on biodiversity so without it both
of our systems would start declining. Think about it like this, imagine an early
morning, waking up to many different animals in your backyard. These animals
would consists of birds, squirrels and a butterfly. Then slowly you start seeing that
these animals are vanishing. Unfortunately, this is happening in forests. Earth is
going through a mass extinction that is becoming dangerous for mankind. Humans
are not taking much interest in this issue because they are not seeing the real
damage with their own eyes. Extinction would take millions of years for it to
finally take its course and those living today know they won t be around for those
millions of years. Every step taken in these years is affecting Earth slowly. Not
every human could go into a forest and see what is happening and see all the planets
and animals that are still around. But fortunately for Cal Poly Pomona students, the
campus has a bio trek center that consist of a

Essay On Morality. PDF Morality in Modern Science and Society

  • 1. Essay On Morality Crafting an essay on the topic of morality is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor. Morality is a complex and multifaceted concept that has been debated by philosophers, scholars, and thinkers for centuries. The difficulty lies not only in defining morality but also in navigating the diverse perspectives and ethical frameworks that exist. As an essayist, you must grapple with questions of right and wrong, good and evil, and the underlying principles that guide human behavior. Moreover, the challenge extends to the task of presenting a balanced and comprehensive view. Morality is subjective, and individuals and cultures may differ in their moral beliefs. Your essay needs to consider various viewpoints, addressing the cultural, historical, and philosophical dimensions of morality. Analyzing the impact of religion, societal norms, and personal convictions on moral reasoning adds another layer of complexity. Furthermore, the fluid nature of morality requires a nuanced approach. What may be considered morally acceptable in one context could be deemed immoral in another. This fluidity demands careful consideration and an exploration of the contextual factors that influence moral judgments. To write an effective essay on morality, you must also engage with contemporary ethical dilemmas and their implications. This involves staying abreast of current events, ethical debates, and evolving societal norms to provide relevance and insight. In conclusion, composing an essay on morality requires navigating through a labyrinth of philosophical inquiries, cultural variations, and ethical nuances. It demands a deep understanding of diverse perspectives and a commitment to presenting a well-reasoned and thought-provoking analysis. Despite the challenges, tackling such a profound and significant topic can be intellectually rewarding for those willing to delve into the intricate landscape of human morality. • 2. Second Take-Home Assignment Essays Response to question 1: Ibn Tufayl writes of Hayy ibn Yaqzan s experiences starting with his birth. Tufayl presents two different accounts about the origin of his hero, Hayy. The first account was that Hayy was born on an uninhabited island, not from parents but, rather, from clay fermentation. The author emphasizes the importance of the island s perfect geographic location and climate in order to support the possibility of spontaneous human generation without the need for a mother and father. According to the second account, Hayy was the illegitimate son of a princess who was the daughter of a ruler of a large inhabited island next to the uninhabited island. In order to save the baby (Hayy) from certain death, his mother puts him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He discovers that they do not seek God. He then examines the spiritual bodies which possess an intelligent substance, like his, and that they see the Necessary Being. Among all the animals, he thinks of himself as the only one who could know the Necessary Being. Up to this point, he has not met other human beings. I believe that the author gave two different explanations about how Hayy came to life in order to immediately attract the reader and to start the thought process at the very beginning of his tale. The tale was written in a way that reflected Tufayl s own philosophical ideas. I understood the background of the explanations to be the same, i.e., they both present Hayy in solitude on an uninhabited island to show how reason guides the human intellect naturally. I believe that was Tufayl s intention. Both explanations were related to science and religion and, because Tufayl was a philosopher, I believe that they were based on his readings and learnings. I do not think that the author favored either account because, other than giving the two accounts, he did not set out to prove or disprove one or the other. In my opinion, Tufayl s intent, throughout his essay, was to convey the fact that self discipline is important in the search for the understanding of life in all forms and that solitude is necessary to the learning
  • 3. My Experience At The Usa My experience of moving to the USA included a couple of steps such as preparing, arriving, and adopting. Moving to America was one of the most thrilling and exciting experiences I have ever had in my life. It all started after I graduated from high school. I had always dreamed of going to abroad to study in a better school to be successful in life. My dad was leaving me hints here and there that he was going to send me America for school, but I was sure that it wasn t going to happen because getting a student visawas tough back then. However, that summer when I saw that letter in my mail from the immigration department of USA for an interview, I was speechless. In order to come to America for school, I either had to have a student visa or a permanent residency, for which someone had to sponsor me. I was actually starting to give up on coming to the USA for School. But one day I saw a mail from the USA embassy, and in the mail it said that my aunt sponsored me to come to the USA, and they asked me along with my family for an interview. It was so unexpected that I didn t know how to react. I took the letter to my dad, and he told me all about how he was processing the whole time while I was busy taking my finals. That was exciting because I was actually going to get a chance to study abroad which was all depending on the interview. I had to prepare for the interview with my best effort because that could take my life up to a whole new level. The interview was in the capital
  • 4. Concurrent Training Concurrent training: Proposed mechanism for the interference effect Introduction Many athletes, predominantly field based, necessitate superior levels of strength and aerobic capacity simultaneously to be competitive within their sport. Therefore, concurrently incorporating strength and endurance training within a training regime is common practice amongst athletes. Research shows concurrent training (CT) has substantial benefits for endurance performance by improving economy of movement and power output, with little influence on VO2max (Blagrove, 2013). Conversely, strength gains are repeatedly reported to be attenuated with the addition of endurance training, a phenomenon often termed the inference effect. However, the underlying mechanism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Consequently, this led many to propose overtraining as a possible mechanism, which occurs when training volume and intensity is too high and/ or there is insufficient recovery, leading to a decline or lack of improvement. (Nader, 2006). However, a protocol used by Dudley and Djamil (1985) employing 5 x 5 minute endurance sessions and 2 x 30second strength sessions on alternating days still reported attenuation of strength gains in the CT group despite training volume being relatively low. In addition, Blagrove (2013) adds that as endurance qualities seem to be unaffected by such protocols, it is doubtful that Overtraining is an underpinning mechanism to explain the interference
  • 5. The Physical Portrayals Of Hispanic Women In The Media The physical portrayal of Hispanic women in the media has a large influence on the Hispanic women and girls that view these portrayals. The media s physical portrayal of Hispanic women is that they are voluptuous, dark haired, tanned skin, and petite. There are many films, TV shows, and any other media outlets that portray Hispanic women as such. Examples of these portrayals are Modern Family, Maid in Manhattan, and Girl in Progress. In each of these movies or shows, the main character appears as the stereotypical Hispanic woman. This is what many Hispanic women and girls believe that the world sees them as. They also believe that this is how they should look. This especially affects adolescent girls that identify as Hispanic. media use may play a role in the body image development of Latina adolescents (Schooler, 2008, p. 134). Most of the time when watching television, Latinas see a white woman and their beauty standards. The difference between white women in the media as opposed to Latin women is that there is a greater variety of how white women in the U.S. look. When a Latina finally sees someone who is Latina, they expect to see themselves, instead, they see Eva Mendes, long wavy hair, curvy, and petite. When young Latin women see this, they expect themselves to be the same way. If they don t look like that, it can result in a spoiled body image of themselves. Latina women in this sample tended to hold the lowest perceptions of their bodies, the highest awareness of Consumerism as a factor in the body/beauty standard, and scored high in racial identification (Poran, 2002, p. 79) Latin women understand who they are and when someone is of the same background. Many are also self conscious about their bodies, and that is likely due to the fact that not only are actresses on TV shows thin and curvy, but many commercials are about the newest way to lose weight rapidly, or what to buy to get curves. All women of any race have issues with body Image, but as a Latina, the media plays a big role in how Latinas form their body image. According to the media s portrayal of Latin women, there are two ways Latin women act. The first way is passive, pure, and dependent on men; the second way is wild,

The s Secret Model By Cameron Russell Victoria s Secret Model, Cameron Russell, delivered one of the most profound TED Talks delivered on the Mid Atlantic stage, according to TED writer Cameron Gallo. The model explains that though the modeling industry considered her a perfect, she does not believe her appearance defines her. Thus she came up with the title for her speech, Looks Aren t Everything... Believe Me, I m a Model. . She specifically addresses that children need to understand that modelingdoes not constitute a glamorous career. The industry drowns out personal values, views, and appearances to warp these characteristics into a general image accepted by the masses, according to Russell. She describes her view on modeling, and how it essentially made her feel like a hard shell of a person with no inner value. She ended by encouraging people to find a balance between outward appearance and inner beauty. Looks Aren t Everything.... Believe Me, I m a Model is categorized as TED talk. These talks are powered by nonprofit organizations dedicated to spreading ideas, in the form of speeches, demonstrations, and videos. Richard Saul Wormac, describes the talks as observations and recognition of a powerful convergence among three fields: technology, entertainment and design (Gallo 3). World class speakers perform 18 20 minute presentations, within the three fields. Cameron Russell addresses each individual field in her speech, not limiting herself to one specific category. • 8. The Causes Of Honey Bees Honey bees, feared by the misinformed and admired by the intelligent, are dying. The interest in bees from many environmentalists is not for a sudden cause, as this issue is not new to the world. Honey bees as a population have been in decline for years but have yet to reach the endangered species list anywhere in the United States except for Hawaii. Many people kill bees that buzz around joyfully, simply because they are afraid of being stung by them; however, a vast majority of bees do not sting and the others do not care. This unfortunate commonality is not even one of the top causes of the worldwide epidemic of honey bees. Although bees are jokingly idolized on the internet in pictures and videos as a result of a popular children s movie, their population decline is in fact quite serious. Honey bees and other pollinators like birds and insects ensure the pollination of flowering plants and crops all around the globe. Not only do honey bees pollinate plants that produce the foods that humans eat, but they also pollinate trees that produce clean oxygen for Earth. Without honey bees, the world as we know it could soon end, due to carbon dioxide pollution and lack of farmable foods. The population of honeybees and other important pollinator beespecies is dwindling due to a dilemma known to scientists as colony collapse disorder(CCD) because of the use of bee killing pesticides, known as neonicotinoids, the decrease of flowermeadows in the world, and the general increase

The first white inhabitants of the U.S. were immigrants from Europe. They came for many reasons, such as religion and opportunity. As the country grew and became more prosperous, it became more enticing to foreigners looking for opportunity. This continued into the 20th century and finally during the 1920 s, the United States began to restrict immigrants from coming to their country, mostly for cultural and economic reasons. The Italians and other immigrants were blamed for many of the nations problems. For example, the government led raids on immigrants houses because they feared the immigrants were communists. This was evidenced in the Sacco and Vanzetti trial, when two Italian immigrants were convicted for murder and the prosecution had no real substantial evidence. They were convicted mainly because of their beliefs, not their actions. Religious beliefs also brought the immigrants problems. The KKK was openly anti Catholic and most of the Italians were catholic. The immigrants and Italians also helped to bring on prohibition. The Americans didn t approve of their drinking habits; therefore the prohibition amendment was made for this and other reasons. Job competition was also a major reason for the racist feelings of the Americans. Native white workers saw the immigrants as competitors for the jobs that they felt they should have. A good example of this competition was birds of passage. These were Italian workers who came to work in the U.S. but later returned to Italy with the money they earned in the U.S. From 1899 1924 3.8 million Italians came to the United States, but 2.1 million left to return to Italy during the same

An acid base reaction is a chemical reaction that happens between an acid and a base. There are multiple definitions when considering the reaction mechanism when solving problems. The banana was used as the main source in this experiment because the main objective was to find out if a fruit could charge an iPhone without being plugged into an actual outlet. In this lab, the Coke acts as an acid and the banana is potassium. The RCA cables were used as connectors to stick one side into the banana and the other side in the Coke itself. The Coke can is used to basically start the chemical reaction by the RCA cables that are put inside it which in return is still connected to the banana. Just like plugging the cables into a television, the red cable is usually used for right analog audio (the red goes in at the top end of the banana which is to the right) and the white cable is usually used for mono analog audio (the white goes in at the end of the fruit which is to the left.) The team used an iPhone because something electronic had to be used in this particular experiment to get the results that we were looking for so an iPhone was the chosen item. The iPhone charger is used to put into the Coke can while it is plugged into the actual iPhone to see if we get results or not; this determined whether or not the iPhone can be charged by a fruit. If the iPhone comes on, this indicates that it is charging through the chemical reaction and if it doesn t, this could possibly mean the chemical reaction wasn t strong enough, something went wrong during the procedure of the actual lab, and/or an

The Outsiders Should Not Be Banned The Outsiders English teachers in middle schools and high schools have been through many debates over the years on whether or not a certain book should be taught to students in United States public schooling systems. The Outsiders, is a book that should not be on the list of banned books. Believe it or not the book has been banned from schools and libraries. The Outsiders should not be banned because it provides valuable life lessons involving loyalty. Books like this one, that involve gangmembers, fighting, shooting, stabbing and other gory incidents, should be portrayed to kids in middle schooland beyond. This generation that people are growing up in nowadays is a weak, soft generation who need to realize that the world is not always going to be kind to them. The neighborhoods that a lot of kids live in are safe environments, which is not a bad thing, but they are unaware of the horrible things that go on in the ghettos or other places in our nation. Books are a great way to reach out to kids and show them valuable life lessons while also giving them learning experiences through that English class they are enrolled in. The author of this novel, The Outsiders, Susan Eloise Hinton, is a very popular author of young adult fiction stories and she is especially popular in the Oklahoma area because she makes the setting in a lot of her books from that area. She wrote the books That Was Then, This Is Now, Rumble Fish, Tex, and Taming The Star Runner. The Outsiders was

  • 22. Britain s Victory Of The Falklands War Britain s victory in the Falklands War undoubtedly contributed to the Conservative Party s election victory in 1983. However, it should not be considered essential to this triumph. Historians such as Helmut Norpoth have suggested that the Falklands factor significantly increased the popularity of the Thatcher administration and resulted in her re election. Dennis Kavanagh noted the effect on the war on Margaret Thatcher s image and emphasised the importance of this during the election campaign. Nevertheless, the Conservative success in 1983 must be attributed primarily to the pre war circumstances including the poor public perception of the Labour Party following their tenure in office prior to 1979 and Thatcher s social and economic policies. The Conservative victory was not down to a singular event, but a combination of events that all affected her image and her perception by the British electorate. Had Labour been a stronger opponent, the Conservatives may not have won in 1983. The most valid conclusion drawn is that of Peter Riddell; the 1983 election was a result of opposition weaknesses and the dividing role of the Alliance rather than the Falklands factor. The Falklands conflict was, in the opinion of both Thatcher and many historians believed to be a key reason for Thatcher s re election. The fact that the Conservatives had a jump in support of 11 per cent between February and July 1982 showed that the conflict was beneficial to the party, despite initial resistance

  • 32. The Giver Community Is A Dystopia Essay The giver community is a dystopia. I know this because when you compare the giver community to our world it takes a minute but I guarantee it is a dystopia, you can see this because on the out side looking in, you know all of the secrets that make up the giver community. another reason it is a dystopia is because when people imagine a perfect world it is not anything like the community of the giver, lastly is the fact that the government plans out people s lives. I will go into detail and make many other points in this essay about both sides of this question. The giver community is a dystopia first of all because when you are on the outside looking in, you know that the whole community is made up of secrets. You know that people can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is just one of the many examples in the book that show that the government can control your life. Not to mention how they also control your significant other, your job, your siblings, and your life decisions, and even your personality traits. Just think about no being able to choose the person your supposed to love and get through life together with. You could argue that the community is a utopia because everyone is happy and that the people not knowing what is going on is a good thing. Or that people not saying mean things and expressing what they truly feel is a good thing because it won t cause arguments and fights. Even the fact that people don t have a choice with family and more importantly significant others could mean that there are no divorces and no fights about who Marries who. Another example why it could be a utopia is that people don t have to choose their jobs so they don t need too tire themselves out working super hard just to get the job that you want. I agree that the government choosing and planning your whole life out for you can be a good thing. But their are so many other bad things about the community that it outweighs all of the good. In conclusion I think that the leader is dehumanizing the community and focusing too much on the requirements to have a utopia and not how the actual citizens would feel if they knew
  • 33. Social Satire In Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey Oh! It is only a novel! : Social Satire in Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey Jane Austen is well known as a novelist for her satirical representation of female characters in late Georgian society. During this period, novel writing and reading was still a controversial topic, and as such was incorporated in her book Northanger Abbey (1817), which has at its core a young female protagonist obsessed with novels. We can clearly interpret Northanger Abbey as Austen s satirical response to the social conventions decrying novel reading, as she uses an intrusive narrator and more subtle supplementary techniques to comment on and satirize the debate surrounding novels. The first way to ascertain that Austen is commenting on the social debate around novels is the fact that Austen explicitly mentions it through the use of the intrusive narrator, defined in Baldick s The Oxford Dictionary of ... Furthermore, the plot is filled with experiences that are imagined by her as grand events typical of the Gothic genre, only to end in everyday, normal happenings. These intrusions guide the reader to laugh at Catherine s naivetГ© by mocking the way she is swept up by Gothic novels: And now I may dismiss my heroine to the sleepless couch, which is the true heroine s portion; to a pillow strewed with thorns and wet with tears (86). Yeats, was written in 1919 following World War I and was to present the idea that he thought that the apocalypse as presented in the Book of Revelation from the Bible was about to begin. The poem does not mention the second coming of Christ but rather focuses on the coming of the antichrist, meaning Yeats could only see despair, hopelessness, and chaos in the world. These sentiments of Yeats and others are due to war damages, collapsing economies, and the coming of the Great Depression and the Irish civil war. The word choice, meter, persona, subject, and lack of mention of Christ all collectively contribute to reflecting Yeats sentiments in the poem. Several lines in the poem support this mentality of despair and chaos. Turning and turning in the widening gyre refers to the worsening state of society with the collapse of democratic governments and economies. (1) The second line, The falcon cannot hear the falconer means that any sense of hierarchy and authority has been lost. START OF WITCHCRAFT HYSTERIAA considerable lot of the American settlers carried with them, from Europe, a faith in witches and the devil. Amid the seventeenth century, individuals were often executed for being witches and worshiper of Satan. The Puritan town of Salem was home to where many executions of witches took place, more commonly known as the Salem witch trials. A scandalous scene in American history, the Salem witch trials of 1692 brought about the execution by hanging of fourteen ladies and five men blamed for being witches. The mass hysteria of witchcraft came to be when nine year old Betty Parris and eleven year old Abigail Williams began to display strange behavior. Betty first exhibited symptoms in January of 1692, where she started to shout blasphemies, mimic animal sounds, and cry out in pain. Soon after, Abigail began to display similar symptoms. Determined to find the root of this problem, civilians questioned a lady that Betty and Abigail mentioned. Tituba, an Indian slave, confessed immediately after being questioned. She claimed witchcraft was practiced by many in her area. It was impossible to tell if she was telling the truth or not, but that was not what mattered, there had been a confession, and that was what mattered (Hill 27). News spread of witchcraft in Salem and thus started the mass hysteria in Salem. SALEM WITCH TRIALS From the Spring of 1692 to the fall of 1692, men and women

With the growing dependency on computer systems to store confidential information across the world, it is only necessary that that the information be protected by strong securitysystems which include both hardware and software so that both the businesses and the consumers feel safe in the transportation of information over the inter webs. Contemporary Information securitysystems use many different components involving both hardware and software Primarily, User Access Control or UAC systems are combinations of identification, authentication, and authorization that helps restrict users to what information they can access in a database system with certain read and write rights. Most of the identification systems operate by using a simple serial ID followed by an identity challenge such as a password (Blanding F. 2004). UAC is the most fundamental access control technology as without it, there cannot be further information systems. Within the UAC system, the system administrator designates users rights and accesses which helps develop the login authentication aspect. The system administrator is the primary local account that authorized personnel can use to create system logins for users with certain privileges. A habit is something someone practices continually, that is hard to give up. My habit is smoking, every time I go somewhere in my car I feel like smoking a cigarette. Duhigg hypothesizes that change can happen through the manipulation of one s habit loop. The Habit loop is divided into 3 parts, the cue, the routine and finally the reward. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be easier said than done because to be able to change the routine the reward has to be the same. To change the routine Duhigg suggests that one may use the Golden rule of habit change. This is the thing that will replace the routine in my case smoking, exchanging it with something else. In the book, Duhigg uses an example where someone is trying to change their habit of nail biting. He suggests that this person should find a new stimulation, he said this would help them get rid of the nail biting but keep the same reward. He suggested ... rubbing her arms or rapping her knuckles on a desk anything that would produce a physical response. (Duhigg, 76). This may only work if one has a Role of belief in habit change. What he meant by that Is understanding the habit loop identifying the craving and wanting to change the routine of the bad habit. To be able to change my routine I had to identify the craving which was the nicotine from the cigarette. Then I had to identify my golden rule of habit change which is either using an e cigarette or drinking coffee. At last I had to find the Role belief in habit change. Some of the resources that are in high demand are fuel, water and food. Biodiversity is very important for humans to understand because it helps us to understand the variation of species and how life originated on planet earth. Biodiversity is crucial to this planet because if the chain is disturbed then the planet could be put to a halt. Humans are interdependent on biodiversity so without it both of our systems would start declining.
