Essays 123
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Essays 123" can be a rather intricate task, laden with a
unique set of challenges. The ambiguity of the topic itself poses a hurdle, as it leaves room for
interpretation, demanding clarity and precision in defining the scope and boundaries. The
potential breadth of the subject may require a careful selection of themes or aspects to focus on,
adding an extra layer of complexity.
Moreover, the vastness of the field can be overwhelming, making it challenging to decide which
specific angle to approach. Essays centered around a numerical sequence like "123" could span
various disciplines and themes, from numerical symbolism to mathematical concepts, each
demanding its own depth of research and understanding.
Additionally, finding relevant and credible sources to support the arguments can be demanding,
as the topic may not have a well-established body of literature. This requires a thorough
exploration of academic databases, books, and articles to ensure the essay is well-grounded and
informative.
The need for originality in the essay further complicates matters. Crafting a piece that stands out
in a sea of generic content requires creativity and a unique perspective, which can be a
formidable task when the topic itself seems commonplace.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Essays 123" entails navigating through the challenges of
defining a focused scope, delving into diverse themes, finding credible sources, and infusing the
work with originality. It demands a meticulous approach to research, critical thinking, and
effective communication. For those seeking assistance with similar essays or any academic
writing challenges, various resources are available, such asHelpWriting.net, where you can find

To what extent is embracing technological change the most significant factor in the
future success of UK manufacturing businesses? Justify your answer with reference
to your own research and the item above. (40 marks)
Technology is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes,
especially in industry. It can be argued that skills and other factors are considerably
more important than technological change, for the future success of UK
manufacturing businesses. Yet I disagree, I view technological change to be the most
significant. In this essay, I am going to talk about several companies in which
technology is vital.
Firstly, within the Food sectors, technology is absolutely essential. This is due to the

This technique means that there is no wastage of stock, and reduces time wastage
too as the manager doesn t need to assess the remaining stock throughout the day.
Also, as robots are becoming cheaper and slowly more advanced, it has seen the
sales of them go up by 28% in 2013 in the food sector, once again showing how
technology plays a large part in UK manufacturing.
However, in contrast, technology isn t vital for Crockett Jones of Northampton. This
shoe company was founded in 1879. It began with 20 employees hand cutting and
tanning leather. As technology developed, the company did begin to use it, yet only
on the smallest of tasks, in order to not lose the significance of the hand quality goods
which they gained their reputation for. Despite not using a lot of technology, they
still have implemented some, which shows again how important technological
change is to UK manufacturing.
Yet in the automotive sector, technology is viewed to be vital, as it allows from
quality and precision to be improved greatly. This is shown in the case of Jaguar
Land Rover, where they produce premium cars that provide excellent quality, whilst
being assembled quickly. This has been successful due to the implementation of
robotics and automation, whilst also reducing the costs of production too. The costs
are reduced, because the business is seen to be more

The WILD Foundation http://www.wild.org/mali elephants/
explains that many locals support elephant conservation efforts because they
understand that the threats to the elephants are the same as the threats to their own
livelihoods, especially those who rely on natural resources. Saving the last desert
elephants can benefit locals in other ways: more security and community
reconciliation and less youth recruitment and radicalization. While local support is a
critical piece in saving Mali s desert elephants, the government s support will
ultimately determine the elephant s future: survival or extinction in three years.
How is the Malian government addressing this elephant crisis?
Susan Canney, director of Mali Elephant Project for the WILD Foundation, is very
critical of the government s efforts. Typical bureaucracy (e.g. not receiving
government approval and firearms) is preventing the foundation s 50 rangers from
assisting the desert elephants. Even though the government sent some army forces to
monitor the elephants, it could and should be doing more: Mali is standing by while
the elephants are being slaughtered ... If we continue at this rate, they will all be gone

The Destructive Nature of the American Dream in F. Scott...
The concept of the American dream has been related to everything from religious
freedom to a nice home in the suburbs. It has inspired both deep satisfaction and
disillusioned fury. The phrase elicits for most Americans a country where good things
can happen. However, for many Americans, the dream is simply unattainable. In F.
Scott Fitzgeralds Winter Dreams, Dexter Green, a hardworking young man born into
the middle class, becomes wrapped up in his pursuit to obtain wealth and status in his
life. These thoughts and ideas represent Dexter s fixation on his winter dreams, or,
the idea of what the American Dream means to him: gaining enough wealth to
eventually move up in social class and become somebody, someday. As Dexter
attempts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because Dexter s life is unintentionally controlled by these dreams, he does not
realize that he is being driven toward material success. He is unaware that these
dreams are leading him to fall in love with the woman who stands at the core of his
materialistic fantasies. His complete focus in life becomes geared toward gaining
the love of a beautiful woman who expresses the glamour and promise of the
exclusive world (Perkins). Dexter begins to strongly believe that Judy Jones is his
key to unlocking the world of the rich and wealthy. By illustrating the luxurious
lifestyle of Judy Jones, Fitzgerald reveals how she represents, to Dexter, what life is
like for the rich and prosperous. As well as representing the upper class lifestyle,
Judy, through her beauty and manner, represents Dexter s dream of obtaining a
higher status that he has wished for ever since he was young. After passionately
kissing Judy and realizing that the
color and the mobility of her mouth gave a continual impression of flux, of intense
life, of passionate vitality, he discovers that he had wanted Judy Jones ever since he
was a proud, desirous little boy (Fitzgerald 1013). This life and passion that she
presents shows that she offers more than just wealth, but beauty and love as well.

Gender Roles Of A Young Girl Saving China From The
Huns
Within Disney s Mulan, gender roles, linguistic differences, and racial concepts play
a substantial role in telling the story of a young girl saving China from the Huns. At
first glance, while the film may utilize an innocent plotline typically geared for young
children, stereotypes and racist themes abound, prompting the question of how much
of the movie is authentic, and how much of the film is the American perspective on
Chinese culture. After an anthropological analysis of the film, it is seen that the gender
stereotypes, use of accents, and racial differences not only assist the
characterization of what is Chinese , but also provide the audience identification
and relatability to the protagonist. Primarily, the protagonist Fa Mulan s struggle
against idealizations on females in Chinese society bring attention to the crucial
unit of gender roles in anthropology. The story of Mulan centers around her fighting
attempts to bring honor to her family a problem that is faced by both males and
females. For men, they have a chance to honor their family name by going to war
and fighting for the country. On the other hand, women are expected to prove their
worth through marriage. This is seen in the Fa family s importance on the
Matchmaker day in the beginning of the movie, and Mulan s tedious preparations for
pleasing the matchmaker in order to find a good spouse. However, women have to
fit certain standards in order to please society and their husband which are
Essay on Rent Control
There is a reason for everything, and if there is no reason to do something, most
people will not do it. For example, if there is no incentive to motivate landlords to
upkeep their property and make it the best it can be, they will left their properties at
the lowest manageable state they can get away. Rent ceiling laws are an example of
how lack of motivation and incentives can discourage people from making sure their
best work and resources go into their product or whatever they are doing. These laws
impose limitations on the amount landlords can charge their tenants for staying in
their properties. This causes the landlords to lose the amount of money they should
have made on their property, and the landlords will not be motivated to... Show more

The obstacles landlords have to overcome causes them to lose their motivation to
invest in rental properties and they instead flock towards other housing options to
include condominiums, office towers, and hotels.
In short, lack of motivation in exchange for more red tape causes investors and
landlords to move towards more profitable options. This movement of money and
resources tends to negatively impact people trying to find a place to live, most
notably the poor. The National Multi Housing Council (NMHC) states that
prospective customers must pay finder fees to find a rental property due to a
presumably growing scarcity of available housing. As if this were not bad enough, in
some communities rental properties are handed down to friends and family, so they
never quite leave the market. In order to obtain housing, new consumers are forced to
pay key money and other fees. These costs tend to impact young, single, and poor
families the most.
As if all of the more or less hidden fees were not bad enough, young, single, and
poor families able to find a rental property are often discriminated against. Landlords
tend to use factors such as income and credit history in determining who gets their
rental property Richer families end up doing better with rent control laws because of
this. Poorer people who make up a larger part of the population end up out of a
house to live in.
Some economists would argue the above mentioned examples of why rent control is
harmful to

reinforcement can increase the rate of sight word acquisition within students with a
learning disability in a resource room setting. The study was comprised of two
participants, a nine year old boy with directionality and perceptual difficulties and
an eleven year old boy with auditory figure ground discrimination. Both participants
were two years below grade level in word recognition, had a diagnosis of a learning
disabilityand average intellectual function level, and both were from southwestern
USA. After a baseline of each students sight words recognition, multiple lists of
different five unknown sight words were selected, to use during the intervention.
The teacher explained the guidelines of the token system; if the student could
remember a sight word 24 hours after the lesson, the teacher would get put a star
next to the word. Once the student earned 5 stars (one for each word) they would a

The children chose a prize of a pre determined list created by a survey they took.
The students could then trade in their stickers for a tangible prize from their prize
menu. The prize menu was derived from a survey the participants took during the
baseline. The goal sheets were sent home to receive the award of parental praise. The
study showed that both students increase their sight word vocabulary by 330 percent

Brief Description Of Manila, Philippines

I.Brief Description of Manila, Philippines.
Manila is the capital of the Philippines and it is located in Luzon; which is the
largest island in the archipelago. Due to its convenient location for a trade route, it is
known as the Pearl of the Orient.
Before Manila was rebuilt, the city suffered many episodes of destruction during
World War II (WWII) where the Japanese invasion occurred. Even though Manilais
believed to be one of Southeast Asia s best capital cities for its breathtaking views and
culture, it has its flaws. Manila is filled with crime, corruption, overpopulation, and
the daily inevitable and cumbersome traffic jams. Yet, this city is still the biggest,
most developed and prosperous when compared to the other cities in the Philippines.

Essay about The Ancient Relatives of Mammals
The mammalian line of descent reaches back to over 300 million years. The ancient
relatives of mammals were extremely different in terms of appearance from living
mammals, and are often mistaken for reptiles (for example dinosaurs). In reality
though, these relatives of mammals, called synapsids, are more like mammals than
reptiles. Synapsids are often described as mammallike reptiles because they show both
reptilian and mammalian traits. They lived right before the Mesozoic Era, during the
PermianPeriod (286 251 mya). Synapsids derive their name from the fact that they
had only one temporal opening on each side of the skull (called laterotemporal
fenestrae), just like all mammals. Many synapsids had features that were considered...

They are believed to have hunted larger herbivores in packs (similar to wolves).
Lystrosaurus was another hippo like aquatic creature. Cistecephalus lived
underground, where it most likely dug for insects and worms. Estemmenosuchus was
another Permian carnivore whose skull had many bony outgrowths. According to
Neo Darwinian theory, all the functional diversity (the various synapsid types) was
wiped out as the reptiles of the Mesozoic Era overtook the synapsids. It is usually
said that only the basic structural plan of modern day mammals was derived from
the synapsids. This view is technically flawed because in terms of fossilized remains
(the only basis by which the structure of an extinct animal can be remade), only a
small amount of traits consistently distinguished mammals from reptiles. In damaged
and fragmented fossils, these traits are practically undetectable. So how can one tell
what the basic structural plan that was derived from synapsids was?
Regardless of this, only one thing is known for sure Non mammalian synapsids did
not evolve from reptiles. We know for a fact that non mammalian synapsids have
something to do with the origin of mammals, but what happened to these fascinating
creatures during the Mesozoic Era and how they gave rise to real mammals is
unknown.
The information we have on these unique group of animals is in fact very hazy and
confusing, but perhaps with more researchers and new information, the
When Gangs Infiltrate our Armed Forces Essay
Throughout the world there are groups that are known for their deviant behavior.
These delinquent groups at times become a major threat due t their actions. In the
United States they are called gangs. As they are continuously putting the safety of
our communities in danger, what can be done when they infiltrate our Armed Force?
Stopping gang members and their affiliates from joining the military must become a
top priority. And even more importantly, they must be weeded out of the military.
Generally, gangs are seen to be in urban areas. Lately there has been an influx of
gang culture spreading into suburban areas. One reason that can be seen for this is
the media. Violent lifestyles are glamorized in TV and the music that is listened...

In order to join some criminal groups, initiates are sometimes expected to beat, rob

way to feel acceptance. In doing this there is a sense of belonging, and the belief
that one s well being will be cared about. And that if anything were to come up,
help would be there if ever needed. Others join as a way for protection. Violence is
becoming more of the American culture, and it is only becoming worse. High
schools are a prime example of this. Students act out in violent fits of rage for
questionable reasons. Rather than merely fight someone one on one, they have
their friends help them against their adversary. To many people this is considered
cowardice, yet to them it is more of a form of protection. Not only that, it is a way
to send a message that if one person is affected, everyone in the gang is affected.

Strategies for Coping with Stress Essay examples
Strategies for Coping with Stress
Stress has been defined as a pattern of negative physiological and psychological
processes occurring in situations where people perceive threats to their well being
which they may be unable to meet. These situations involve stimuli which can be
either real or imagines and are generally known as stressors.
Stressors come in many forms; for example, they can be cataclysmic such as life
disasters including floods and earthquakes and also things such as rape and abuse.
But they can also quite insignificant things such as being late for work or stuck in
traffic these are generally known as life s little hassles.
Although stressors are mainly seen as negative, ... Show more content on

There is also the problem of prolonged and severe stress as many people s lifestyles
can easily produce stressors and this increases their chances of a stress related illness.
Much of the research regarding stressors and their long term effects on the body
comes from Seyle s General Adaptation Syndrome (1956). A lot of Seyle s research
was based on using laboratory animals and his results showed that constant
exposure to severe stressors produces three physiological phases, the first phase is
alarm reaction, and this showed the bodies physiological response to a situation with
stressful stimuli. Phase two was known as the stage of resistance in which if the
stressful stimuli (stressor) persists or is not dealt with correctly the body seeks to
maintain arousal at a constant lower level. The final phase was the stage of
exhaustion where by eventually the continued high arousal levels exhaust the body s
resources producing both negative physiological and psychological effects.
The extent to which people can adapt to a stressor depends on the individual and
how they perceive the stressful stimuli because people s emotions seem to be able to
cope with short term events where as the physiological response our body s produce
coincides with our negative emotions and so

may drive their hardworking employees to another branch, or even separate from
the military entirely. Management understands that improvement on their employee
s happiness is critical in completing the mission. The military members have no
incentive to work harder besides fear of reprimand, or paperwork. The military has
great job security; a person needs make a serious mistake to be discharged.
Therefore, the AF understands they need to keep their people happy and take care of
them so the mission can be delivered. Upper management needs to assert certain
ways to collect data such as surveys, to see how they can help their troops.
Anonymous surveys are important because they may lead to more honest answers
discussing problems that they may not address otherwise (Cooper Schindler, 2006).
Another way to seek out possible issues is conduct focus groups. Conducting
qualitative and quantitative research using focus groups could be insightful,
gathering pertinent data from the people in each workplace (Cooper Schindler,
2006). This research will lead to a better perception for what needs to be focused on
the most. Action needs to be taken quickly by senior leadership so the workers see

Essay on Model for Perception
Model for Perception
Most people assume everyone sees the world the same way. This can be expected
because people are not able to compare what they see to what someone else sees
(using language to describe visuals is inherently biased). This widely accepted
assumption, however, is inaccurate. There is evidence that each person s perception
of the world is different if only in minor ways. For example, a perception
discrepancy can be found when comparing how people suffering from anorexia
nervosa see their bodies and how other people see the anorexics bodies. Even though
this distortion is an extreme perception difference that can actually be documented
(most perception differences can not even be verbalized), analyzing the distorted ...

The biological process of perception can help explain this definition; what exactly
does it mean that the brain interprets stimuli from the environment and makes it into
what we see and hear? According to biologists, the process begins with stimuli,
usually in the form of photons, vibrations or chemical reactions from the outside
world, being picked up by the sensory systems. The stimuli is detected by a sensory
neuron located on the surface of the body. This neuron converts the stimuli s light,
sound, heat, etc. into action potentials. The action potential changes the membrane
permeability of the neuron which allows it to transform into electric signs. The signs
are conducted to a primary processing area and elaborated on eventually being
converted into corresponding information regarding color, shape, shade, etc. Next,
this new information is brought to the thalamus (usually) where it is linked to older
data containing similar experiences to form a complete message. The message is
carried to its specific cortical center to become perception. Therefore, perception is
actually a message constructed using outside inputs, inner neuron processes and past,
relevant information stored in the brain.
Although it is not possible to know the conscience perception of victims of anorexia,
there is a wealth of data on these patients allowing experts to make conservative
assumptions on their perceptions. Based on this data, anorexics see a distorted image

Gift Movie Essay
When society determines that one is gifted, the pressure of surroundings can be
unbearable. With the intimidation from, friends, family, and self to succeed, the
weight of poor self esteem can be unbearable. Society continues progressing the need
to be special by ostracizing those that have talent and demanding that they must do
something valuable within their life, regardless of age. Throughout the movie
Gifted, the parent child conflict between father Frank Adler, a de facto guardian, and
Mary Adler, his seven year old niece, develops the plot and thematic purpose of the
story. For example, Frank attempts to give his niece a normal life compared to that of

her to study mathematics. Mary blames this pressure on Frank, as the family put
her cat up for adoption and are forcing her to change the morals she learned from
Frank. Mary represents a prodigy in society that is a mathematical genius, but the
mother is refusing to allow Mary the right to be a child. However, when Frank
confronts Evelyn in the middle of a tutoring session of her toxic relationship with
Diane, Mary returns to his custody as she realizes the negativity fostered by her
attitudes. Even though Mary lost trust in Frank during the fostering, she regains this
relationship, as he did not abandon her and returned for her in the end, developing the
theme that trust in each other surpasses all external forces. Hence, the tense
relationship that eases in the end between Frank and Mary concludes the story by
contributing a theme everyone needs a strong support system, regardless of
The Medical Equipment Rental Industry
The market size of the medical equipment rental industry has seen a large increase
over the past five years. Starting in 2009, the market has seen an increase due to both
a recession and the rising costs of medical equipment (Turk). Because of both of these
factors, medical facilities have been forced to cut back and find new ways to save
money. Through this industry, hospitals have begun to rent their medical equipment
rather that to buy it, saving the facilities money while not hurting patient care.
According to IBIS World, the medical equipment rental industry makes around a 1.3
billion dollar profit each year as well as employing around twenty thousand employees
(Turk). Furthermore, the market is growing at 4.7 percent annually and is expected to
grow even faster in future years (Turk). While the medical equipment rental industry
seems like it is targeted to one group of consumers the market actually segmented into
many different groups. The market is initially segmented based on the type of device
(Research). For instance, medical equipment industries would market surgical
equipment differently than home care medical equipment or digital equipment. In
addition to segmenting the market based on the type of equipment, the market is also
segmented by the end user (Research). When referring to end user the company will
segment their market based on who is going to use it. For example, the companies
would market products that someone would use for in home care different
Mt. Cameroon, East Of Nigeria
Mount Cameroon is located within the Republic of Cameroon, east of Nigeria. It is
considered to be one of Africa s most active and largest volcanoes, having recently
erupted in 2000 followed by a smaller eruption in 2012. Mt. Cameroon belongs to a
seamount chain of volcanoes that extends northeast from the Gulf of Guinea.
Cameroon does not lie on a plate boundary, making it an intraplate volcano. Despite
being one of the most active volcanoes in Africa, the risks it poses does not
necessarily include the massive, fiery, plinian eruptions one would associate with a
volcano considered very large and most active over an entire continent. However, Mt.
Cameroon does have other risks and hazards due to its nature, and requires

While Cameroon has shown moderate eruptions in the past, the volcano also
showcases a more effusive type of eruption. The low viscosity lava flow Cameroon
exhibits is not much of a surprise because the volcano is part of a chain of volcanoes,
indicating that it is currently sitting over a hot spot. The significance behind a chain
of volcanoes is that hot spots, mantle plumes, ... tend to be largely unaffected by plate
motions (howvolcanoeswork). This allows the mantle plume to create a volcano,
have the crust shift due to plate tectonics, create another volcano, and so on. The
fact that Mt. Cameroon is intraplate also reinforces a hot spot mechanism because
there is no subduction present to cause flux melting. The last major eruption of
Mt. Cameroon took place in 2000. It was reported that during the initial explosion,
... [Cameroon] produced only tephra and ballistic blocks (Smithsonian). An a a
lava flow was also noted, which flowed about 850 meters. Due to the volcanoes
remote location, information about the a a lava flow was collected using the
MODIS Thermal Alert System, or MODVOLC. The way this works is that NASA

One main symptoms is depression that happens at an early age, but mainly you

Consumption, bloody flux, head lice, scabies, and other contagious skin conditions
were also common. At the outset of a voyage provision would be taken on board

rancid, the bread moldy, fired peas weevil infested, cheese hard, and beer sour.
Because of that no vitamin C was provided, so signs of scurvy were often evident.
In 1497 Vasco da Gama sailed around the southern tip of Africa and 160 of his
members of his crew died from scurvy. For centuries scurvy was responsible for
more deaths at sea. Anyone who showed signs of scurvy were dosed with three
teaspoons of lemon juice every morning. The crew members on Jacques Cartier s
second expedition were badly affected by severe outbreak of scurvy causing many to
die. An infusion of needles of spuce tree resulted in miraculous results. The

Sacrificial Reinforcement In Behaviour
Efficacy of behaviour modification plans and differential reinforcement in behaviour
Behaviour modification (BM) plans rely on the individual s commitment to alter
their own behaviour through achievable milestones and reinforcement. It was
mainly used by therapists in the late 1970s early 1980s, with success in areas that
depended on the reinforcer. Recently, BM plans have been utilised to combat
widespread negative behaviours such as procrastination which is defined as any
aversive behaviour that can be caused by poor self regulation and underestimation of
tasks (Steel, 2007). Whilst a little is perfectly normal in life, those who seek
immediate satisfaction more regularly than others begin to display a pattern of self
harming behaviour that becomes detrimental in the long run. On the other hand,
study behaviour is defined as any behaviour that promotes learning without
distractions and avoiding tasks (Loftin et al. 2005). Recently, researchers looked at
Facebook use as a cause of procrastinate behaviour and found that people who use

cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is an effective way to reduce procrastination
(Rozental Carlbring, 2013), so this study hopes that BM plans are similarly effective
especially when reinforcers and punishers are contingent and valuable. It s important
that rewards are of some importance to the individual so that reinforcers can act as

Dow Chemical Company HW
Dow Chemical Accounting Homework
Dow Chemical Company is a manufacturer and supplier of products used primarily as
raw materials in the manufacture of customer products and services. Its product lines
include chemicals, advanced materials, agro sciences and plastics businesses.
Attached are the excerpts from Dow Chemical s Annual report for 2012. Based on the
information in the financial statements and footnotes, please, answer the questions
below. Assume a tax rate of 35%.
1. Which cost flow assumptions does Dow Chemical use to value its inventories?
Inventories are stated at the lower of cost or market. The method of determining cost
for each subsidiary varies among LIFO, FIFO, and average cost.
What is the value of inventories that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
LIFO liquidation may be due to company not purchasing any more inventory (the
prices are too high), and depleting its cheap inventory. When inventory costs are
increasing, this results in higher net income. Either involuntary (disruptions in
supply) or voluntary (earnings management).
5. Suppose that Dow Chemical has no inventory left at the end of NEXT year (i.e.,
fiscal year 2013). Would Retained earnings at the end of fiscal year 2013 under their
existing accounting policy for inventories be higher than, lower than, or the same as
what it would have been had they used FIFO as a cost flow assumption for all of
their inventories? If different, by how much? Explain.
Same as RE if they used FIFO. Since there will be nothing left in inventory after the
year, Dow Chemical would be using same inventory (and therefore the same
inventory price for COGS) in both scenarios.
Also b/c LIFO Reserve = Cum. pre tax income FIFO Cum. pre tax income LIFO = 0
= Cum. pre tax income FIFO = Cum. pre tax income LIFO
How would your answer to above change if purchase prices for Dow Chemical s
inventories are expected to increase by approximately 50% in fiscal year 2013?
Would not change. The answer to this question is driven by the LIFO reserve in
2013, and, by definition, that stays the same, at 0, regardless of how much inventory
is purchased in 2013.
6. International Financial Reporting Standards do not permit the use of LIFO as a
cost flow assumption for inventory
The Ideal City In Plato s The Republic
In book II of The Republic, Glaucon has yet to be convinced that being just is better
than being unjust. (Cooper, Plato: The Complete Works , 357) He wants Socrates to
further explain why justice should be valued both in itself and for the consequences
that come from it. (Cooper, Plato: The Complete Works , 358b) Socrates thinks that
best way to this would be to theorize how justicewould look in an ideal city. Socrates
main goal from this point until book IV is to build this city theoretically and
explain how justice acts upon this ideal city. For this paper, I am going to argue
why this city is not completely good by explaining why I would not choose to live in
it.
First, Socrates needs citizens that are specialized in a particular trade, ... Show more

Although I find myself agreeing with many of the positions that Socrates holds in
The Republic, this idea of this city is certainty not one of them. On the outside, the
idea of a city run by educated and philosophical intellectuals who are incapable of
being corrupt sounds outstanding. But once you begin to understand the details
of how this city will be founded and maintained, it becomes obvious that this is a
city which relies heavily on fascism and authoritarianism. I think these details start
to become apparent when Socrates begins speaking on the stories that will be told
to the guardians. The fact that the guardians are only permitted to hear certain
stories shows that they really don t have any freedom over their soul or mind.
They are like a product that is carefully manufactured to serve a very specific
purpose. They are designed to basically be cogs in the machine, instead of living
any kind of fulfilling life. In fact, it seems like everyone in the city is basically
meant to be a cog in the machine. My next huge problem is Socrates choice to lie to
all the citizens by making them believe the narrative about the metals. This is
fundamentally wrong. Each citizen of a just city should be given every opportunity
to seek out truth. Instead, Socrates chooses to deter these citizens from finding any
truth. That is completely unjust, even if it is for the good of the city. I also find it
quite disturbing
Compare Arabic Poetry And American Poetry
The topic I chose for my unit project is to compare Arabic poetry and American
poetry. I have picked a poem from each as a representative. While this may not be the
best representation of either society s poems, they are two incredible poems that are
famous in their respective cultures. The poem I have chosen to represent American
poetryis Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost. The poem I have
chosen to represent Arabic culture is On Pain by Khalil Gibran. This essay will
examine both poems main idea, form and themes.
On Pain has some very dark themes. It talks about life s suffering and pain; telling
us how much of it is brought upon by one s own self. The first line in the poem
says Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding. This is
telling the reader that the pain of life destroys the world we have built up in our
heads which we call reality. In the next two verses, the author explains to us that if
we could only keep your heart in wonder at the daily miracles of your life then we
could find balance in our lives between the pain and joy. If we could only revel in
the joy of life as must as we did the sorrows of life then the sorrows would be much
more bearable. That is the main message in the poem. It makes a lot of sense that
this poem is dark because of the history of the Middle East. The middle east has a
dark and violent history so it s no wonder that their literature is dark. This particular
poem also has a
Cover To Cover Movie Vs Book
Hello and welcome to Cover to Cover , the segment where I compare and review a
book and its movie counterpart. Today, we ll be looking at The power of one , by
Bryce Courtenay.
This is an American drama film, set in South Africa in times of apartheid in World
War 2. It s the story of a 6 year old boy named Peter Philip Kennith Keith , or better
known as Peekay , who struggles against the difficulties of racism, Apartheid and
displays how even the power of only one, can change a nation.
The plot within the film is quite easy to follow, staying relatively faithful to the book
at the beginning, but loses track towards the end. However, there are times where
major differences and variations occur between the two, which doesn t contribute to
the film being as believable as the novel. An example of this is what occurs during
Peekay s travel to his grandpa, via the train. The sequence of events during this travel
are left out in the film, which actually left me quite confused as to where in the film
this was supposed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Close up scenes seemed to be particularly well done, with use of cutting between
two subjects (particularly in the scenes where Peekay attends boxing training). This
shows the different emotions and expressions of various characters. However, there
are times where constant cutting can become irritating and rather unnecessary.
Special effects and props didn t feel as if they were believable enough to take
seriously. Use of lighting in various scenes can evoke different feelings and display
environments in a different perspective. A good example of this is where, during the
piano and singing performance by the prisoners, Piet walks along the back of a
building, making his way towards the performance, when a guard encounters him,
beats him up for not telling what the prisoners are singing, and then dies. This scene
darkens all surroundings and shines exclusively on the murder at

Taking a Look at Professional Procrastination
By definition, the act of procrastinating is to postpone an event until a later time. We
as humans have all delayed something in our lives, either related to school, work, or
social activities. Although anything in life has the potential to be postponed or put
off until the last minute, procrastination is more commonly seen in schools and
colleges among students. There are several reasons why students put off assignments,
but, the main reason is that they do not take pleasure in doing their homework. Even
though some students are unsuccessful in their dawdling, many students are often
successful and benefit from saving coursework until the last minute . Taking a look at
this process, we can see that procrastinating may actually save time and energy.
The first step in the procrastination process is to make a conscious decision to
postpone a project until a later date. Upon receiving a homework assignment,
students will often look over what they will be asked to do. If they are discontented
by what they are presented with, thoughts such as I do not want to do this or I will
do this later will spring up in their brain. After a student has either of the previous
thoughts, they then put the assignment in their folder or binder and do not touch it
until later. Frequently a student has no motivation to begin an essay, for example,
right after receiving the prompt because there is no pressure to complete it in a short
time. Since there is no drive to work on the essay, the
How Did Andrew Carnegie Change The Economy
As well as J.P. Morgan, Andrew Carnegie was certainly another individual who
assumed great leadership and transformed the ways of the U.S. economy during the
Gilded Age. He concentrated his works on the Steel industry. He helped the United
States switch from an agricultural and commercial nation to the greatest industrial
nation in the world. A document published by Gale: Cengage Learning even stated,
In years of recession and depression he kept running his plants, undercutting
competitors, and assuring employment for his workers. Obviously, he was a strong
competitor among the entrepreneurs of the time. He kept his prices low while also
expanding markets for steelproducts. In fact, he established the J. Edgar Thomson

In addition, Carnegie s company built the first steel plants in the United States that
used the Bessemer steel making process, a revolutionary industrial development
that also produced steel from iron cheaply and efficiently. (Hendrick 5). However,
like J.P. Morgan, Carnegie, too, eliminated competition by buying other companies.
He also used a method, known as vertical combination. This meant that he bought
firms that were interdependent for the supply of raw materials for processing, like
railroad companies and iron mines. By owning these businesses, Carnegie was
able to reduce his costs and produce steel cheaper. As Carnegie s methods made the
manufacturing of steel faster, easier and inexpensive, he was considered a steel
magnate. He created a steel empire by taking ownership or factories, raw materials
and transportation infrastructure involved in steel making in order to eliminate any
inefficiencies that would keep him from profiting as much as he could. However,
while he put so much effort into keeping his costs down, he did not keep his workers
best interest at heart. By supplying his products at a lower cost than his competitors,
he overworked and
Sistine Chapel Ceiling Research Paper
Throughout the centuries civilizations have produced men and women of extreme
talent. The extraordinary works they created can define a period such as the cave art
of ancient man or modern art representing cultures of today. The High Renaissance

and modernity of western civilization in master works of art, music and literature.

One such story is of Sistine Chapel ceiling painting. Located in the Vatican, Italyby

The problems arise when certain factors, such as muscle mass and fat deposition, are
not taken into consideration. Because muscle is much denser than fat and takes up
less space, two individuals of the same height and weight could have the same BMI,
even though one may have a significantly higher percentage of body fat than the other.
Researchers now know that if most of your fat is in the tummy area, your health risks
are greater than if it resides in, say, the hips, thighs or rear (sometimes referred to as
the apple versus pear theory.
Dr. Tobias Pischon, lead author of a recent study that focused on the correlation

What Are The Best Policies The United States Should
Implement
What are the best policies the United States should implement to solve the illegal
immigration problem? Immigration is an important implication throughout the
United States as a whole. This topic drafts many opinions, both positive and negative.
The media uses propaganda to put blame on the immigrants for taking American jobs,
or not being allowed to live in our country legally. Others give a more welcoming
view to them, that they re welcome to come to our country and they have a chance to
restart their life. An estimated 12 million plus undocumented (illegal) immigrants
currently reside in this country.
Those who desire hardline approach, want higher security and vetting off possible
immigrants. The lot of immigrants that are legally ... Show more content on

There are approximately 3.7 million unlawful immigrant households in the U.S.
These households impose a net fiscal burden of around $54.5 billion per year. The
final disagreement exclaimed by many Americans, is the free education that illegal
immigrants are getting for coming to the United States. Most schools will give
millions of dollars of loans to illegal immigrants. The Supreme Court case Plyler vs
Doe was held in June of 1982. This Court case was about public education for
immigrant students. The Supreme Court ruled 5 4 that the Board could not deny the
immigrants an education. Plylers Equal access to education for children regardless of
status.
Immigrants will take our jobs and lower our wages, and create less jobs for the
working Americans. Immigrants are usually brought closer to regions that have a
big supply and demand such as farms and factories in big agriculture countries. The
south has a lot of farms for immigrants to get jobs on and supply for their families.
These are jobs Americans in our society don t like to do. On top of this,
undocumented immigrants will accept a job for lower wages
than the Americans and can be paid under the table . They will do the dirty jobs for
less than minimum wage to support their families. Another argument is how
immigrants overuse welfare in this country. All unauthorized immigrants don t have
legal access to the welfare reforms. But immigrants make a large contribution to
Medicare and Social Security when
Reflection On Technology And Technology
Since I have been learning more about technology and taking online classes, my
neighbor has enlisted me in helping to improve her business. Ruth is my seventy
year old neighbor, who is hoping to update some of her technological devices as well
as use technology to organize financial data of the business. The thought of learning
about new technologyscares her and she trusts me to be able to point her in the right
direction. Currently, Ruth runs a greenhouse where she sells flowers and some
vegetables.
The first thing Ruth shows me is her computer. She is utilizing her computer as
permanent storage for pertinent banking documents that she has acquired over the
years. She uses her computer to research new popular plant species to cultivate for
the season and see what her competitors are offering. Right away, I can tell that her
computer is outdated. She even mentions that her computer is from the early 2000
s. By technology standards, her computer is ancient. She complains that her
computer is slow and will often freeze. With a faster computer and updated
software, she will be able to expedite her normal tasks executed on the computer.
She also mentions some issues with her keyboard and monitor that serve as
peripheral devices connected to her computer. Ruth says that the monitor screen will
turn black when she is in the middle of something and that she will have to hit the
monitor a couple of times to make the screen light up again. I noticed that her video
cable is old
My Contribution To Alpha Phi
The most significant contribution that I have made to Alpha Phi thus far was my
work on Phi Chapter s 2017 Red Dress Gala. Psi Chapter raised over $35,000 for
The Alpha Phi Foundation, and it is an incredible feeling knowing I had a part in this
fundraising. From April September 30th (the day of the event) I worked with the
Vice President of Marketing, the Red Dress Gala Chair, and each of my other sisters
on the Red Dress Gala team. We worked to secure donations, sponsors, created
decorations for the events, ensured sisters had their silent auction baskets done in
time, and worked the day of the event to make sure everything went smoothly. My
job was focused on the live auction and thanking donors and sponsors after the event.
I worked all

The Debate On Immigration Reform
Abstract: Until the bill passed, much of the debate surrounding the Development,
Relief, and Education for Alien Minors, or DREAM Act, brought about legal, ethical,
and logistical concerns. Illegal immigration and the population unauthorized alien in
the United States were key issues in the ongoing debate on immigrationreform.
However, the benefits of this bill outweighed its disadvantages. Immigration
policies in the United States concerning undocumented workers are strict and
direct. Employers are not allowed to employ illegal or undocumented immigrants.
The DREAM Act which was enacted by the Obama administration s announcement
of deferred action for deportation of undocumented youths provides alternates.
Under the provision of this law, a person is eligible for citizenship if they came to
the United states at age 15 or younger, are currently 35 or younger, have been
resent in the country for at least five years, completed high school, and completed
at least two years of higher education or honorably served in the armed forces for at
least two years (Guzman Jara, 2012). The advantages of Dream Act as well as its
disadvantages on the US economy would be analyzed. Future analysis and other
immigrant working situations would also be evaluated.
Introduction:
Employment policies regarding hiring immigrants have been fairly straight forward
since the early nineteenth century. The Unites States law provides employers with
several limited ways of employing foreign workers on a

  • 2. To What Extent Is Embracing Technological Change The Most... To what extent is embracing technological change the most significant factor in the future success of UK manufacturing businesses? Justify your answer with reference to your own research and the item above. (40 marks) Technology is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry. It can be argued that skills and other factors are considerably more important than technological change, for the future success of UK manufacturing businesses. Yet I disagree, I view technological change to be the most significant. In this essay, I am going to talk about several companies in which technology is vital. Firstly, within the Food sectors, technology is absolutely essential. This is due to the need to adapt, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This technique means that there is no wastage of stock, and reduces time wastage too as the manager doesn t need to assess the remaining stock throughout the day. Also, as robots are becoming cheaper and slowly more advanced, it has seen the sales of them go up by 28% in 2013 in the food sector, once again showing how technology plays a large part in UK manufacturing. However, in contrast, technology isn t vital for Crockett Jones of Northampton. This shoe company was founded in 1879. It began with 20 employees hand cutting and tanning leather. As technology developed, the company did begin to use it, yet only on the smallest of tasks, in order to not lose the significance of the hand quality goods which they gained their reputation for. Despite not using a lot of technology, they still have implemented some, which shows again how important technological change is to UK manufacturing. Yet in the automotive sector, technology is viewed to be vital, as it allows from quality and precision to be improved greatly. This is shown in the case of Jaguar Land Rover, where they produce premium cars that provide excellent quality, whilst being assembled quickly. This has been successful due to the implementation of robotics and automation, whilst also reducing the costs of production too. The costs are reduced, because the business is seen to be more

Gender Roles Of A Young Girl Saving China From The Huns Within Disney s Mulan, gender roles, linguistic differences, and racial concepts play a substantial role in telling the story of a young girl saving China from the Huns. At first glance, while the film may utilize an innocent plotline typically geared for young children, stereotypes and racist themes abound, prompting the question of how much of the movie is authentic, and how much of the film is the American perspective on Chinese culture. After an anthropological analysis of the film, it is seen that the gender stereotypes, use of accents, and racial differences not only assist the characterization of what is Chinese , but also provide the audience identification and relatability to the protagonist. Primarily, the protagonist Fa Mulan s struggle against idealizations on females in Chinese society bring attention to the crucial unit of gender roles in anthropology. The story of Mulan centers around her fighting attempts to bring honor to her family a problem that is faced by both males and females. For men, they have a chance to honor their family name by going to war and fighting for the country. On the other hand, women are expected to prove their worth through marriage. For example, if there is no incentive to motivate landlords to upkeep their property and make it the best it can be, they will left their properties at the lowest manageable state they can get away. Rent ceiling laws are an example of how lack of motivation and incentives can discourage people from making sure their best work and resources go into their product or whatever they are doing. The obstacles landlords have to overcome causes them to lose their motivation to invest in rental properties and they instead flock towards other housing options to include condominiums, office towers, and hotels. In short, lack of motivation in exchange for more red tape causes investors and landlords to move towards more profitable options. This movement of money and resources tends to negatively impact people trying to find a place to live, most notably the poor. The National Multi Housing Council (NMHC) states that prospective customers must pay finder fees to find a rental property due to a presumably growing scarcity of available housing. As if this were not bad enough, in some communities rental properties are handed down to friends and family, so they never quite leave the market. In order to obtain housing, new consumers are forced to pay key money and other fees. These costs tend to impact young, single, and poor families the most. As if all of the more or less hidden fees were not bad enough, young, single, and poor families able to find a rental property are often discriminated against. Landlords tend to use factors such as income and credit history in determining who gets their rental property Richer families end up doing better with rent control laws because of this. Poorer people who make up a larger part of the population end up out of a house to live in. Some economists would argue the above mentioned examples of why rent control is harmful to

The ancient relatives of mammals were extremely different in terms of appearance from living mammals, and are often mistaken for reptiles (for example dinosaurs). Synapsids are often described as mammallike reptiles because they show both reptilian and mammalian traits. They lived right before the Mesozoic Era, during the PermianPeriod (286 251 mya). According to Neo Darwinian theory, all the functional diversity (the various synapsid types) was wiped out as the reptiles of the Mesozoic Era overtook the synapsids. It is usually said that only the basic structural plan of modern day mammals was derived from the synapsids. This view is technically flawed because in terms of fossilized remains (the only basis by which the structure of an extinct animal can be remade), only a small amount of traits consistently distinguished mammals from reptiles. Stressors come in many forms; for example, they can be cataclysmic such as life disasters including floods and earthquakes and also things such as rape and abuse. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is also the problem of prolonged and severe stress as many people s lifestyles can easily produce stressors and this increases their chances of a stress related illness. Much of the research regarding stressors and their long term effects on the body comes from Seyle s General Adaptation Syndrome (1956). A lot of Seyle s research was based on using laboratory animals and his results showed that constant exposure to severe stressors produces three physiological phases, the first phase is alarm reaction, and this showed the bodies physiological response to a situation with stressful stimuli. Phase two was known as the stage of resistance in which if the stressful stimuli (stressor) persists or is not dealt with correctly the body seeks to maintain arousal at a constant lower level. The final phase was the stage of exhaustion where by eventually the continued high arousal levels exhaust the body s resources producing both negative physiological and psychological effects. The extent to which people can adapt to a stressor depends on the individual and how they perceive the stressful stimuli because people s emotions seem to be able to cope with short term events where as the physiological response our body s produce coincides with our negative emotions and so

Competition within the Air Force is similar to real world businesses. Making rank equals more money and respect. In the Marines and the Army, it is much easier to make rank. To properly compete, the AF needs to recognize possible issues that may drive their hardworking employees to another branch, or even separate from the military entirely. Management understands that improvement on their employee s happiness is critical in completing the mission. The military members have no incentive to work harder besides fear of reprimand, or paperwork. The military has great job security; a person needs make a serious mistake to be discharged. Therefore, the AF understands they need to keep their people happy and take care of them so the mission can be delivered. This can be expected because people are not able to compare what they see to what someone else sees (using language to describe visuals is inherently biased). This widely accepted assumption, however, is inaccurate. There is evidence that each person s perception of the world is different if only in minor ways. For example, a perception discrepancy can be found when comparing how people suffering from anorexia nervosa see their bodies and how other people see the anorexics bodies. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The biological process of perception can help explain this definition; what exactly does it mean that the brain interprets stimuli from the environment and makes it into what we see and hear? According to biologists, the process begins with stimuli, usually in the form of photons, vibrations or chemical reactions from the outside world, being picked up by the sensory systems. The stimuli is detected by a sensory neuron located on the surface of the body. This neuron converts the stimuli s light, sound, heat, etc. into action potentials. The action potential changes the membrane permeability of the neuron which allows it to transform into electric signs. The signs are conducted to a primary processing area and elaborated on eventually being converted into corresponding information regarding color, shape, shade, etc. Next, this new information is brought to the thalamus (usually) where it is linked to older data containing similar experiences to form a complete message. The message is carried to its specific cortical center to become perception. Therefore, perception is actually a message constructed using outside inputs, inner neuron processes and past, relevant information stored in the brain. Although it is not possible to know the conscience perception of victims of anorexia, there is a wealth of data on these patients allowing experts to make conservative assumptions on their perceptions. Based on this data, anorexics see a distorted image of

However, Mt. Cameroon does have other risks and hazards due to its nature, and requires preventative... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Cameroon has shown moderate eruptions in the past, the volcano also showcases a more effusive type of eruption. The low viscosity lava flow Cameroon exhibits is not much of a surprise because the volcano is part of a chain of volcanoes, indicating that it is currently sitting over a hot spot. The significance behind a chain of volcanoes is that hot spots, mantle plumes, ... tend to be largely unaffected by plate motions (howvolcanoeswork). This allows the mantle plume to create a volcano, have the crust shift due to plate tectonics, create another volcano, and so on. The fact that Mt. Sacrificial Reinforcement In Behaviour Efficacy of behaviour modification plans and differential reinforcement in behaviour Behaviour modification (BM) plans rely on the individual s commitment to alter their own behaviour through achievable milestones and reinforcement. It was mainly used by therapists in the late 1970s early 1980s, with success in areas that depended on the reinforcer. Recently, BM plans have been utilised to combat widespread negative behaviours such as procrastination which is defined as any aversive behaviour that can be caused by poor self regulation and underestimation of tasks (Steel, 2007). Whilst a little is perfectly normal in life, those who seek immediate satisfaction more regularly than others begin to display a pattern of self harming behaviour that becomes detrimental in the long run. Dow Chemical Company HW Dow Chemical Accounting Homework Dow Chemical Company is a manufacturer and supplier of products used primarily as raw materials in the manufacture of customer products and services. Its product lines include chemicals, advanced materials, agro sciences and plastics businesses. Attached are the excerpts from Dow Chemical s Annual report for 2012. Based on the information in the financial statements and footnotes, please, answer the questions below. Assume a tax rate of 35%. 1. LIFO liquidation may be due to company not purchasing any more inventory (the prices are too high), and depleting its cheap inventory. When inventory costs are increasing, this results in higher net income. Either involuntary (disruptions in supply) or voluntary (earnings management). 5. Suppose that Dow Chemical has no inventory left at the end of NEXT year (i.e., fiscal year 2013). Would Retained earnings at the end of fiscal year 2013 under their existing accounting policy for inventories be higher than, lower than, or the same as what it would have been had they used FIFO as a cost flow assumption for all of their inventories? If different, by how much? Explain. Same as RE if they used FIFO. Since there will be nothing left in inventory after the year, Dow Chemical would be using same inventory (and therefore the same inventory price for COGS) in both scenarios. Would not change. The answer to this question is driven by the LIFO reserve in 2013, and, by definition, that stays the same, at 0, regardless of how much inventory is purchased in 2013. 6. International Financial Reporting Standards do not permit the use of LIFO as a cost flow assumption for inventory

(Cooper, Plato: The Complete Works , 357) He wants Socrates to further explain why justice should be valued both in itself and for the consequences that come from it. (Cooper, Plato: The Complete Works , 358b) Socrates thinks that best way to this would be to theorize how justicewould look in an ideal city. Socrates main goal from this point until book IV is to build this city theoretically and explain how justice acts upon this ideal city. For this paper, I am going to argue why this city is not completely good by explaining why I would not choose to live in it. First, Socrates needs citizens that are specialized in a particular trade, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although I find myself agreeing with many of the positions that Socrates holds in The Republic, this idea of this city is certainty not one of them. On the outside, the idea of a city run by educated and philosophical intellectuals who are incapable of being corrupt sounds outstanding. But once you begin to understand the details of how this city will be founded and maintained, it becomes obvious that this is a city which relies heavily on fascism and authoritarianism. I think these details start to become apparent when Socrates begins speaking on the stories that will be told to the guardians. The fact that the guardians are only permitted to hear certain stories shows that they really don t have any freedom over their soul or mind. They are like a product that is carefully manufactured to serve a very specific purpose. They are designed to basically be cogs in the machine, instead of living any kind of fulfilling life. In fact, it seems like everyone in the city is basically meant to be a cog in the machine. My next huge problem is Socrates choice to lie to all the citizens by making them believe the narrative about the metals. This is fundamentally wrong. Each citizen of a just city should be given every opportunity to seek out truth. Instead, Socrates chooses to deter these citizens from finding any truth. That is completely unjust, even if it is for the good of the city. I also find it quite disturbing

While this may not be the best representation of either society s poems, they are two incredible poems that are famous in their respective cultures. The poem I have chosen to represent American poetryis Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost. The poem I have chosen to represent Arabic culture is On Pain by Khalil Gibran. This essay will examine both poems main idea, form and themes. On Pain has some very dark themes. It talks about life s suffering and pain; telling us how much of it is brought upon by one s own self. The first line in the poem says Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding. This is telling the reader that the pain of life destroys the world we have built up in our heads which we call reality. In the next two verses, the author explains to us that if we could only keep your heart in wonder at the daily miracles of your life then we could find balance in our lives between the pain and joy. If we could only revel in the joy of life as must as we did the sorrows of life then the sorrows would be much more bearable. That is the main message in the poem. It makes a lot of sense that this poem is dark because of the history of the Middle East. The middle east has a dark and violent history so it s no wonder that their literature is dark. This particular poem also has a

It s the story of a 6 year old boy named Peter Philip Kennith Keith , or better known as Peekay , who struggles against the difficulties of racism, Apartheid and displays how even the power of only one, can change a nation. The plot within the film is quite easy to follow, staying relatively faithful to the book at the beginning, but loses track towards the end. However, there are times where major differences and variations occur between the two, which doesn t contribute to the film being as believable as the novel. We as humans have all delayed something in our lives, either related to school, work, or social activities. Although anything in life has the potential to be postponed or put off until the last minute, procrastination is more commonly seen in schools and colleges among students. There are several reasons why students put off assignments, but, the main reason is that they do not take pleasure in doing their homework. Even though some students are unsuccessful in their dawdling, many students are often successful and benefit from saving coursework until the last minute . Taking a look at this process, we can see that procrastinating may actually save time and energy. The first step in the procrastination process is to make a conscious decision to postpone a project until a later date. Upon receiving a homework assignment, students will often look over what they will be asked to do. If they are discontented by what they are presented with, thoughts such as I do not want to do this or I will do this later will spring up in their brain. After a student has either of the previous thoughts, they then put the assignment in their folder or binder and do not touch it until later. Frequently a student has no motivation to begin an essay, for example, right after receiving the prompt because there is no pressure to complete it in a short time. Since there is no drive to work on the essay, the

This meant that he bought firms that were interdependent for the supply of raw materials for processing, like railroad companies and iron mines. By owning these businesses, Carnegie was able to reduce his costs and produce steel cheaper. As Carnegie s methods made the manufacturing of steel faster, easier and inexpensive, he was considered a steel magnate.
