difficult time in history in terms of suffering, especially for the lower class that had
to work twice as hard as the upper class for minimum wage. A young poet by the
name of William Blake became livid and motivated in the late eighteenth century by
the coldhearted usage of young boys for chimney sweeping. As a result, he created a

Effects Of Green Spaces On The Environment
1.0 Introduction 1.1 Urban Expansion Currently around 75% of Europeans live in
urban areas and cities; this is expected to rise to 80% by 2020 (European Union,
2016). Cities all around the world are continuously expanding and developing in
order to accommodate the growing population and needs of the area. With
increased construction and new developments, cities are turning more into a
concrete jungle every year. Unfortunately, the consequences of this have a big
impact on the environment. The loss of green spaces and rise of glass and
concrete buildings is having a harmful effect on the air quality and takes away
natural wildlife habitats; which in turn has a negative effect on people in the area.
The reduction in permeable land surfaces is in essence waterproofing our cities and
therefore putting the existing drainage systems under more pressure. Ultimately,
urban expansion as it is, is not socially or environmentally sustainable and
researchers have identified that London s biggest short term risk is the risk of
surface water flooding. (Mayor of London, 2011) 1.2 A Practical Solution? As
London is already quite established it is unlikely, that with the population forecast,
buildings are going to be demolished to make way for permeable surfaces. A practical
solution would not only be to design new buildings with sustainable drainage, but
look at adapting and utilising existing buildings as well. Therefore this report will be

Introduction Gothic Art is the name given to define artworks made in Europe
between the 12th and 15th centuries. Contrasting the Gothic that is understood

Soda glass were commonly used during medieval period which explains the shade
