I was really excited when people told me there was romance, action, and adventure
because they re my favorite genres. But, I was disappointed when I read the first
page. It s 3rd person limited. I thought it would be a little harder to connect with the
characters. However, as I kept rereading some lines and questioning the characters, it
became easier for me to understand them. For example, Katsa, the main character of
Graceling, written by Kristin Cashmore, musters up her courage to defy Randa
because she could no longer tolerate him even though she was afraid to imagine what
would happen next. Randa wanted others to fear him and to do that, he had Katsa
torture peoplewho didn t listen to his orders. According to Susan Fisk, empathy for
another s happiness and suffering depends fundamentally on recognizing that the
other has a mind that is, the same capacities for thought, emotion, desire, intention,
and self awareness as ourselves. I empathize with Bitterblue as she is strong facing

Bitterblue s father is a villain who enjoys torturing others, but her courage still

I was raised up believing in the importance of service and community as I saw my
family members and neighbors selflessly help and be in community with people in
need. It is therefore no surprise that I discovered my passion for service and
volunteerism while still young. In my hometown Nairobi, Kenya, I did community
service through various ways, including my involvement in the charity walk for
Street Children and Orphans in Kenya in 2003 and the 2007 Brookside Freedom
from Hunger Campaign. I participated in the charity walk for these causes and
helped raise money to support street children, orphans, ending hunger, and was

McDonagh s work is quite straightforward to identify these pivotal moments. Firstly
we see the rising action or beginning occur as we observe Katurian, a writer of
twisted stories involving children, learn of several murders that mimic ideas
presented in his stories. He is being questioned by police who are keen to put the
blame on himself or else his brother Michal. After reciting one of his stories,
Katurian is lead to his brother s cell. Despite having protested their innocence,
Katurian is shocked and appalled to learn that Michal was actually the person who

One can say that the exposition of the play begins with Clov, Hamm, Nagg and Nell

because he refused to save any strength for the swim back; he is willing to risk
