Pursuing A Career In Cosmetology
Remember when you were about eight and you said you wanted to be a police
officer, teacher, nurse, or even a fire fighter? As a kid, we do not have many worries
when it
comes to a career, our financial situation, or college. All I can remember worrying
about is if I ll
ever finish the last level of Super Mario Bros on the Wii, but now I am in high school
trying to be
the best I can be by planning my future in the the best way possible.
The career I chose a while back in middle school was cosmetology. I remember when
I
was getting ready for school one morning, and doing my daily routine. I noticed how
much I
enjoyed trying new designs with my makeup. I had also been through a lot of different
hairstyles through the past few years, ranging from long dark curls cascading down
my back, to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only had I had much experience with these various
haircuts and makeup designs, but I enjoyed making myself feel beautiful and look
different. After a while, my interest in cosmetology started to grow. I began to collect
various
magazines, containing the latest fashion trends; for example, Teen Vogue. I also
noticed a
pattern that seemed to appear with every cosmetologist I discovered. It was for the
money not
the people. I want to change this because my idea of a cosmetologist is to enjoy
making
someone feel gorgeous and happy; unfortunately, that was not what I saw in the
Dorsolateral Prefrontal Cortex Case Study
Overview:
The Dorsolateral Prefrontal Cortex (DLPFC) is part of the frontal lobe, one of the
most complex parts of the brain and among the last areas to develop. According to
numerous neuroimaging studies, it may not be fully mature until a person s mid 20s.
The DLFPC has numerous connections with other parts of the brain and helps
integrate information from different systems.
The DLPFC is involved in higher order processing and executive functions like
working memory, planning, attention, and self regulation. These functions are crucial
for everyday tasks like learning, decision making, and socializing.
Location:
The Prefrontal Cortex lies in the frontal lobe anterior to the motor, premotor, and
limbic areas and makes up about в…“ of the total neocortical area of the brain. The
prefrontal cortex may be further subdivided into the dorsolateral, orbitofrontal, and
(sometimes) ventrolateral cortices, though there is some debate about these
divisions. There is not a clear anatomical line where the DLPFC begins and ends.
One way of defining it is by its connection to the parvocellular subdivision of the
mediodorsal nucleus of the thalamus. Some authors say it includes Brodmann Areas 9
and 46 only, others may include ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The whole group went through a normal daily treatment with deep transcranial
magnetic stimulation over the four weeks, then a subgroup continued with weekly
maintenance sessions. This study is based on previous findings that depression is
associated with hypoactivity in the left DLPFC and hyperactivity in the right
DLPFC. All subjects showed improvement after the initial treatment, but then
declined if they did not receive weekly maintenance
Sugar And Its Effect On Life
WA#8 Sugar
Sugar is a delicious but addictive ingredient that is used very often in today s diet.
Even though sugar makes food taste delicious, people do not realize what is actually
happening when it is consumed into their bodies and how it affects their lives. The
negatives of sugar are endless, this world basically uses sugar for anything. Sugar is
compared to drugs also. Although there are different types of sugar the worst of its
kind is refined sugar. All sugars, in general, are sources of sucrose, glucose, or
fructose or all of them together but hardly any vitamin, minerals, or antioxidants.
On April 11th, 2014, Sarah Wilson posted How 3 Years With No Sugar Changed
My Life , in this she describes how quitting sugar changed her physical and mental
health in a positive way, her skin cleared up, her wrinkles disappeared, she lost
weight, not too much but weight was still lost, she has more self control, and she
healed her thyroid. That sounds like a positive turn out. Sugar gives no essential
nutrients and is also bad for teeth. According to healthyteeth.org, Sugar plays a
harmful role in tooth decay. Plaque uses the sugar as energy, the bacteria turns it
into some sort of glue like substance and it sticks itself to the tooth s surface, and
that is what makes it harder for the bacteria to get washed away. In general, sugar is
just bad for you and can do harmful things to someone s body.
Sugar has been used for a great amount of time. According to Sugar Nutrition UK,
Labelling Theory Essay
Labelling theory is very useful in explaining criminal behavior. Labelling theory is
one of the theories which explain the causes of deviant and criminal behaviour in
society. It gives an insight on what could make an individual be attracted to criminal
behavior as opposed to morally desirable behavior. This theory explains the causes of
criminal and deviant behaviour in society. It emphasizes that criminal behavior
occurs as a result of the dominant social group labelling minority groups who are
viewed to be committing acts which are against social norms. The theory discusses
how the behavior and self identity of an individual can be influenced or determined
by different terms which the dominant population uses to describe them. According...

This group defines deviance and explains the levels which can be tolerated by
society. When this group labels someone as deviant, they may change their
treatment of the individual. This change usually depends on the extent of
deviance exhibited by the individual. The change in treatment of the individual
affects their self image. The higher the change, the higher their image is affected.
In some cases, especially when the self image is greatly affected, the individual
changes their nature to conform to the labels which are given to them. The effect
of labelling theory on juvenile behaviour is a bit more pronounced and clear.
Youths are especially vulnerable to labelling theory. Once they start to believe in
their negative labels, self rejection occurs which plays a major role in the social
rejection theory. This self rejection attitude leads them to deviate from the norms
and values of society (David J. Bordua). These youths then go on to reject those
that have labelled them and tend to set up their own criminal lifestyles consisting
of criminal behaviour. In schools, those that come from a working class family or
a lower class, the youth gangs are seen as trouble makers compared to the middle
class gangs who are labelled as pranksters instead. Research has shown that many of
the youth gangs who come from the lower class get arrested and are labelled further as
The Columbine Massacre
The Columbine Massacre Were They Pushed or Did They Jump What would drive
two seemingly normal high schoolers to try and slaughter everyone they went to
school with? Was it the bullying, angst or video games and movies? Or none of the
above. As we examine what led up to one of the worst domestic terrorist acts in
American history I think we ll that find Eric Harris and Dylan Kleboldweren t your
average teenagers. In my opinion they were cold blooded killers who had every
intention to take as many lives as they could. At approximately 11:10 on April 20th
1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold went to their high schooland carried out a
coordinated attack, killing twelve students and one teacher before eventually turning
the guns on themselves.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He makes statements like The pain multiplies infinitely. Never stops. Yet I m here,
STILL alone, still in pain. ... I d rather have nothing than be nothing. One of the
last pages in Dylan s journal was him and Eric s plan for the massacre and it goes
like this. Walk in, set bombs at 11:09, for 11:17. Leave. Drive to clemete Park.
Gearup. Get back by 11:15. Park cars. Set car bombs for 11:18. Get out, go to
outside hill, wait. When first bombs go off, attack. Have fun! Dylan s journals
start off very suicidal and progressively more hateful until him and Eric are on the
same level and were set on completing their final mission. During their senior year
Eric and Dylan starred in a short film for a class called Hitmen for Hire where they
foreshadowed themselves walking around Columbine in their trenchcoats and talked
about relocating other students. Even though in the film they talk about killing other
students that are bullying another student, who hires Eric and Dylan for twenty
dollars a day to protect him, Eric says you know we can t have weapons on school
grounds. There are too many similarities to think that this short film for a class was
simply just that, I believe at this time (December 1998) the duo had a plan and they
were intentionally foreshadowing it through this

To what extent was universal white manhood suffrage achieved?
Although there were limited property requirements, there was still belief that a
property requirement was a test of character that an initiative man should be able to

Requirements for property in order to vote were eliminated, and this success was
celebrated by the Jacksonians. The majority of laws and attitudes had altered by
1820, as the idea of universal white male suffrage was widely known and welcomed.

Case Study Bronfenbrenner s Model Of Child Development
Wellness paper
I chose Urie Bronfenbrenner s bioecological model of child development to reflect
on my stages of development. In the microsystem of Bronfenbrenner s model, my
early childhood family structure included my uncle, his wife and their five children. I
went to live with my uncle after my mother passed away. By middle childhood, my
uncle and his wife migrated to the United Sates and I went to live with one of his
daughters( Erica) and her two children. They became my construct of what a family
represent. Although I was welcomed in Erica s family, I felt as if I did not belong
in their family. The only place I felt accepted was at school. The classroom
represented a place where I expressed my feelings without being ignored or judged
by my peers. Also, I had very observant and understanding teachers who had the best
of my interest. I had one teacher , Mr. Francis, who believed that I was capable of
improving academically. At the end of his class, he noted in my report card that I had
potential to be academically competent, however, I needed to settle down and apply
myself to learning. His comments motivated me to do my best throughout elementary
school. During elementary school, I maintained healthy relationships with my peers.
There were never any reports of misconduct of any misunderstanding amongst my
peers. In fact, interactions with them thought me how to engage in fair play, wait my
turn, build trust and explore my environment. In exploring my environment, I

Examples Of Scapegoat In The Lottery
Scapegoat: A Necessary Convenience of Society
Shirley Jackson s The Lottery shows society s avoidance of change, need for a
scapegoat. Each year people are given a chance to start over. An opportunity to set
goals to live healthy, go back to school, save money, and advance in a current
career. With goals comes change, and change is a challenge not often welcomed in
many. Excuses, a personal scapegoat are made to avoid sticking to the change.
Mark Twain took a look at New Year s, as an annual example of promises to oneself,
only to find failure even before the first 30 days are complete. Twain stated, New

It has been present since the beginning of time. Misunderstanding and fear often
leads to conditions where scapegoats are used. People don t often seem to care
about the complexities of the world around them. Instead they want easy answers to
problems and a scapegoat is always a convenient out. In The Lottery we find that the
ritual had become so mundane that Tessie Hutchinson had forgotten the lottery itself.
She was late, felt the drawing was unfair because it was hurried and ultimately
became the town s scapegoat by virtue of the draw. As people move throughout life,
hopefully they will remember that convenience is easy. Avoiding change and finding
blame with anything is easy. It s also just as easy to become a

Jonathan Livingston Seagull, By Richard Bach And The...
The story of Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach and The Mystic of the
Cave from The Republic by Plato are two stories that are an allegory about morals.
An allegory is a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden
meaning about a moral, politics or religious meaning. Jonathan Seagull tries to get
the other seagulls to concentrate more on flying and the prisoner tries to get the
other prisoners to be open minded and get them out of the den. Will these two be
successful at what they are trying to do? These two stories show morals that are vital
because the characters both decide to go out on their own, they never give up on
themselves, and they show love and forgiveness. First, these two stories show morals
that are important because the characters does the opposite of what everyone in their
group does. In the book, Jonathan Livingston Seagull, Jonathan feels like it is more
important to learn the techniques to fly better rather than pick out left over food.
He also learns if he flies better, then he has a greater chance at finding better food.
What he had once hoped for the flock, he now gained for himself alone. (Bach pg.
26) Jonathan compares to the prisoner in The Myth of the Cave because the
prisoners are forced to look forward at the shadows on the wall. The prisoner turns
and looks at the fire light to see for himself if the images are real. He is reluctantly
dragged up a steep and rugged ascent, and held fast until he is
Later Adulthood Essay
Introduction
According to the Pew Research (2017), After rising steadily for nearly a century, the
share of older Americans who live alone has fallen since 1990, largely because
women ages 65 to 84 are increasingly likely to live with their spouse or their children.
The likelihood of living alone has grown since 1990 for older men and for women
ages 85 and up.
Between 1900 and 1990, the share of adults ages 65 and older living alone
increased nearly fivefold, from 6% to 29%. This growth was spurred by a host of
factors, including improved health and longevity among older Americans and the
economic security that came with social safety net programs such as Social Security
and Medicare (Stepler, 2016).

Descriptive Essay About A Happy Place In The Sea
I take a deep breath, my nostrils are filled with the pleasant aroma of the salty sea
air. This is my happy place, this is where I belong. As I sit with my freshly painted
pink toes in the sand, I am overwhelmed with all that is happening around me. To my
right, there is a family of four; a mother, father, and two little red headed girls that
look like twins, laughing and jumping around, taking in the big world around them.
The children are in their bright red and purple flowered bathing suits, running and
screaming, attempting to get their toes wet in the chilly water that churns back and
forth on the shore. After a few attempts they decide to run and jump full force into
the crystal clear abyss, unaware of what creatures they could find if they dive deep
enough.
To the left of me, I see an older couple, books in hand, enjoying the relaxing evening
under their bright, multicolor striped beach umbrella and green folding chairs that
have palm trees sewn on the back. The man leans over and soon enough the lady
begins to laugh at what he has said. Further down I can see a boy in blue and white
striped swim trunks and his dog playing fetch near the shore. The dog is brown
with a mix of white around his back. Each time the boy throws the bouncy blue
ball, the dog is more and more eager to retrieve it for his owner. After a few throws,
the next one goes farther than the others, causing the dog to dive into the water. He
seems to enjoy the way the cool water feels on his fur
Compartment Syndrome Research Paper
A shin splints is actually the soreness of the the muscles in the legs that occurs from
increasing your training regimen too quickly. For instance, if you have been training
for a five K for a month and then suddenly decide to run a marathon you would have
shin splints. Or if you start out, after a one month of not training, running3 miles per
day you would be sore just like your first day of working out.
But not all soreness in your shins is a shin splint. If you can feel a specific spot
where the pain is coming from or, if you run your hand down your shin and feel a
single spot that hurts then you most likely have a stress fracture. A stress fracture
is a small, slower developing break in the bone. It comes from the same types of
stress in running but is much more serious and can require weeks of time to heal.

Compartment syndrome is the pressure built up in the compartment underneath your
skin that comes from a muscle that is swelling. They have strange ways of
measuring the amount of pressure underneath the skin and to release they have to
use surgical decompression. It will at first just hurt and after a period of time, cause
the loss of muscle in the legs because of its affects of the pressure on the nerves. Shin
splints are caused by pretty much everything involved in running. If your shoes are
outdated and have lost the padding on the soles then your feet are basically
slamming into the ground with each step. This is why I would never advise
someone to wear the toe shoes for running because the soles are a thin piece of
rubber. Another cause could be running on a track in the same direction. If you are
running long distances on the track and turn right all day then the your outside leg is
going to be more worn out than the other. If you run on the same curved roads then it
could also cause
Paul Johnson
Paul Johnson held Charles Darwin in very high regard, calling him a gentleman
scientist many times throughout his analysis. Overall he saw Darwin as inquisitive
and conscientious of the world around him; often not publishing anything that
would cause an uproar in the public or the church. Johnson also praises Darwin s
ability to work in many different fields of science going as far at to call Darwin a
shavnt, or someone with an extreme ability and intelligence who often times
burdened with a severe mental handicap. It is unknown whether Darwin was, in fact,
a shavant or not Johnson however certainly believed that he was. Darwin s luck

Claiming that, It is a mass of generalizations usually unsupported by strict evidence.
Much of it was derived from Darwin s friends, (103). In the Descent of Man, Darwin
had several racial and sexist slurs that were highly unpopular to the point that his
readers wrote him several letters asking him to remove them. His generalizations
were so that he had almost no concrete evidence to support his work other than what
was in uncivilized and backward cultures and history. Another attributing factor to
the failure of Decent is that he had no clear argument or direction of thoughts in this
work as opposed to Origins which had a clear thesis and concentrated argument
throughout. But the most glaring failure was the title. The Descent of Man implies
that the book would be about humans; when in reality there were only two chapters
on the subject. The largest portion of the book was lower classes of the animal
kingdom, for which he had boundless knowledge. His lack of knowledge in
anthropology is very apparent in this. Even with a surgeon for a father he failed to
understand basic human anatomy and psychological makeup. This lack of
understanding ultimately weakened his book to the point that it would have failed if
Oregon had not been published
Fidelity Is Not A Sense Of Fidelity
Fidelity is faithfulness to a person, cause or belief demonstrated by continuing loyalty
and support. It seems that we as humans strive to obtain a sense of fidelity, yet they
cannot when it comes to their relationships with others. Individuals are incapable of
remaining committed in relationships. This has been proven through not only
psychological research, but in literature as well. In the scholarly articles from
Psychology Today, it states that Americans seem to value the idea of fidelity and
faithfulness, but have a hard time achieving it. The researchers believe that
individuals suffer from marital myths, that in turn can cause a partner to commit acts
of adultery. This happened directly with the character John from The Miller s... Show

They find a different outlet for their need. Humans cannot seem to find happiness
with only one person, they stray off showing that they cant be loyal or committed to
anything in life. Temptation was also a resounding reason throughout the article.
Individuals see someone else, who they may see as a challenge or simply someone
who draws their attention, and lack of better judgement kicks in. ...Many of us are
tempted by the delights of the new, especially those of the sexual variety. People
become unsatisfied and indulge in pleasure with a new partner. According to the
researchers, individuals seem to be incapable of following through to the promises
they made to their significant other. The vow of for better or for worse seems to be
forgotten because they cannot commit to the meaning behind those words. They
contradict themselves, they say they love their partner, but are unfaithful behind their
back. But sometimes infidelity can root in simply just not being happy with who you
are with anymore. They just don t make you feel the way you felt when you had first
gotten together. The relationship is no longer enjoyable and becomes a burden.
Essentially, individuals are susceptible to cheat, and sometimes the temptation and
curiosity becomes too overwhelming to fight. Many of these ideas are
Sustainability And Solutions Of Food
Sustainability on food Today, the contemporary world is riddled with several
developing, uncertainties with the food security. World population is growing faster,
by researching world population by 2050 it will reach 9 billion people on this Earth.
Food requirement is expected at over 70% of current levels. Sustainability is
important for the foodbecause, it is achieving the level against price rising prices of
food, included climate change because climate change is also a huge problem for
farmers. Sustainability is important for food and people should never waste food.
There are so many problems for the sustainability and solutions to sustain food for
the future generations. There are many problems like food crisis, wastage of food,
shortage of food and price rising, I will be writing about those problems and
solutions that can help solve the problems. The first, most important problem in
the sustaining food is a food crisis and world hunger, because prices are rising
every year and problems for farmers and everyone. There are many farmers who
operate in a globalized world. In their efforts, to contribute more to sustain the food,
they also go through several challenges to secure the future of their farms and
living. Farmers are having many problems due to global warming, flood disaster or
no rain at all. Because of those natural disasters farmers are having a grueling time
growing foods like, grains, maize, and other vegetables. In the result, this kind of

Welfare Programs And The Welfare System
Americans all across the nation have become blind to the fact that the welfare system
has created a sense of comfortable distress amongst them; Americans feel safe with
knowing that they have benefits to turn to when in need but are also distraught about
the actions and well beings of the welfare system in future times because they are so
comfortable with the system. With so many bad effects outweighing the good effects
that welfareprograms bring to the table, there is a need to say that these programs are
temporarily helpful but not valuable towards society. The current welfare programs
that are established are not beneficial towards the progression of society because the
programs deprive the independence of individuals, allow continuous povertyto still be
an economic issue, and intensify the fraudulent cases of criminal activity.
Current welfare programs deny the independence of individual recipients in various
ways. Americans on welfare tend to become very dependent on the government since
they constantly gain benefits without having to work as hard as the average
American. Because of handed out benefits, America s look on self reliance, personal
responsibility, and advancement has weakened (Will 10). Many welfare programs
encourage others to accept benefits from the government, resulting in people
becoming lazy and unable to search for work. This is somewhat hypocritical due to
the fact that America is known for its independence, responsibility, and

The Inexact Science of Climatology
Climatology is an inexact science to say the least. The only undisputed facts are:
there are gases that are transparent to ultraviolet light but absorb infrared radiation,
creating the greenhouse effect , and human activity has caused the accumulation
of greenhouse gasses to increase across the world (McKibben Wilcoxen, 2002).
The application of microeconomic principles can be used to address some of the
fallout of the climate change caused by the greenhouse effect. In this paper we will
take a look at three such measures and what their application can mean to the
industry. The same way that there are various uncertain factors when accounting
for climate change (clouds, ocean temperature, aerosols effect, etc.), there are
various microeconomic principles that can be applied to help reduce emissions,
with equally diverse results. One of the most limiting forms of creating clean
emissions standards is a renewable portfolio standard (RPS) limited to renewable
technology (Paul, Palmer Woerman, 2011). This is restrictive because of an unfair
distribution of credits dependent upon which technology the RPS is being applied
to. For example, an RPS that treats all renewables equally would highly encourage
the low cost renewables like bio mass and wind, while high cost renewables like
solar would not be promoted as fairly (Paul, Palmer Woerman). Some states help
address this disproportion allotment with carve outs or portions of the RPS that
addresses separate renewables
A Interview On My Father s My Dad, The Owner And
Founder...
I would like to preface this report by mentioning that this interview went nothing
like I expected. At 7:00pm on Tuesday, March 21st I walked into the office of Brad
Hults, the owner and founder of Jefferson Midstate Auto Auction (JMAA). Every
Tuesday used car dealers from all over the Midwest come to JMAA looking to buy
and sell used cars. My dad, an auto dealer himself, currently works there on sale
days (Tuesdays) and it just so happens that my father has connections with Brad. I
am lucky enough to have an inside scoop on the business I actually worked there on
sale days last summer. This gives me an understanding of the culture and what JMAA
really values as a company. Unfortunately, up until this interview, I had never actually

Because he (supposedly) has said energy, anyone who walks into his office, works
for him, enters his car auction, or just interacts with his business in any way also
gains part of that energy, and thus the universe starts to give them what they want as
well. He was convinced that [my] life has significantly improved since [I] started
working here a year and a half ago. [I ve] become more self aware and those
coincidences seem to happen more often. That is the universe bringing things to
[me]. While the concept was nice, I am not sure if the world actually works that
way. After the interview, I had more questions than answers, and I had not even
gotten the chance to ask him about his actual business. I also really was not sure if
he was a pure genius or if I needed to check him into a mental hospital. Probably both.
After some analysis, I realized his opportunity identification process focused less
on if it was feasible, but more on if he desired to do it. If he desired to something,
the universe would bring everything he needed to him. Basically, the universe
would take care of the feasibility part. I partly agree with Brad and definitely think
that following your desires is a worthy goal. Just like the author of Monk and the
Riddle said, the deferred life plan permits people to forget their passions and never
actually achieve them. A passionate person is less discouraged by the difficulties of

Similarities and differences between English bill of rights and the declaration rights

Mr. Roberts
The English bill of rights and the declaration rights of man and citizen are two of the
most influential documents ever written between 1600 1800; those documents
greatly affect the rights and freedom that everyone was born with today, it also
greatly affects the US constitution about how they govern their country how they
think about government. The two documents have many similarities and differences;
those two documents were both created because of a similar reason. The kings that

A Short Note On The Components Of Radar
4.1 COMPONENTS OF RADAR
Radars are extremely intricate electronic and electromagnetic frameworks and
complex mechanical frameworks as well. Radar frameworks are made out of a wide
range of subsystems, which themselves are made out of various segments. There is
an extraordinary assorted qualities in the configuration of radar frameworks taking
into account reason, yet the basic operation and fundamental arrangement of
subsystems is the same.

Recieving wire is an article which utilized as a move between wave spreading in free
space, and the fluctuating voltages in the circuit to which it is joined. A reception
apparatus either gets vitality from an electromagnetic field or transmits
electromagnetic waves created by a high recurrence generator It guarantees that the

similarly in all headings. This sort of radiation is known as isotropic radiation.
Radar recieving wire is profoundly directional so more vitality is proliferated in our
predefined course.
The vitality emanated from a reception apparatus shapes a field having an
unequivocal radiation design. A radiation example means plotting the transmitted
vitality from a reception apparatus and this vitality is measures at different points at
a steady separation from the recieving wire. The state of this example relies on
upon the sort of radio wire utilized. The radiation of a recieving wire is mix of

Canada s Parliamentary System Essay
On July 1st, 1867, Canada confederated into a nation and committed to uphold
democracy From Sea to Sea . As stated in the Constitution of our nation, Canada
would be governed through a Parliamentary system, with both an upper and lower
house of legislature. The lower house, the House of Commons, would include elected
members from across the country. Conversely, the upper house, the Senate, according
to Section 24 of the Constitution Act (1867), states: The Governor General shall...
summon qualified Persons to the Senate; and... every Person so summoned shall
become... a Member of the Senate. [1] This has amounted to almost 800 Canadians
being appointed to the Senate since Confederation. However, as Canadians have
grown to demand transparency... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In retrospect, in order for the Senate to achieve any sort of democratic status, the
federal chamber should be comprised of elected members. Most criticism towards the
Canadian Senate is directed at the ineffectiveness of the upper house.[13] The
Constitution states that the Senate shall act as a chamber of sober second thought
from the perceived more radical lower house.[14] However, the Senate has proven to
be useless in this process, and does not act as a voice of reason or representative
opinion. The argument that the Senate is more reflective of the national population
than the House of Commons definitely doesn t come cheap. Because Senators are not
elected they don t represent the public interest and therefore shear no accountability.
This lack of accountability allows for the chamber s activities to become autonomous
and secretive. Ultimately, the citizens of Canada are left in the dark in regards to the
performance and activities of the Senate. At the same time, when exploring the link
between the upper and lower houses, it is rational to say that the Senate serves no
purpose in the Canadian political system. As Senators come into power through
recommendation of the Prime Minister, it is uncommon for the chamber to disagree
with the government. Therefore, Senator appointment does

Low And Low Self Esteem
Self esteem has started to show a great impact on the life of people around us.
Although there are high and low levels of self esteem, which can lead us to
divergent conclusions. The people with high self esteem, appear to be narcissistic
and have the thought that the world revolves all around themselves. Accordingly, to
the people with low self esteem they go to the conclusions of suicide, and depression,
they ponder that people do not love them enough, so that they are not worthy enough
to be in this life. The effects of low self esteemand high self esteem leave an impact
on the career that people set their mind to. The cause of self esteem plays a huge
role in our life because it will affect our future careers and success in the future.
Success depends on the mindset. Moreover, the mindset is what one sets itself to
think or do. Ordinarily, the mindset that the people have reflects on their own
personality and the way that they view the world. Arguably, many people see the
world unevenly than the other people do. They see the world as chaotic and
stressful, as the other people view it regular, normal with the problems it has and
the peace it has also. The people with a fixed mindset have a contrastingly view of
the world than the people with low and high self esteem do. In an EdPuzzle video, the
speaker talks about how everything is set in the mindset. Guy Winch, the speaker in

Arizona State University For The Fall 2016 Semester
Dear Hannah, Congratulations! You have been admitted to Arizona State
University for the fall 2016 semester. This was the beginning of the letter that I
received in the mail this past fall; though it was simply a letter, it was the
beginning of a new chapter in my life! To be a sun devil means to strive for
excellence, to give your all, to put your heart into your work, to never give up, to
excel in all you set out to do. I am extremely pleased to now officially be a student
of Arizona State University! When I first got the letter that I mentioned above
informing me that I had been accepted to ASU, my heart filled with pride and
anticipation as I realized how it felt to be a Sun Devil!

In ASU, my chosen major is Business Management through the William P. Carey
School of Business. I chose this major because of my love for communication,
leadership, and studies involving money. I really enjoy working with my dad who
owns his own business and I take pleasure in understanding all the different
processes within the business. Also, ever since I was a little girl, I have enjoyed
learning about the economy and money in general. Another reason I chose
business management was that it requires leadership, which has always been one
of my strong points. I have experience leading and people have told me I am good
at it though I know there is always plenty of room for improvement. I do know how
to follow, but I am a leader at heart. I truly enjoy managing various projects and
seeing them come together successfully. Because I think it is important as a student
seeking a degree in Business Management to feel comfortable in leadership
positions not only in the workplace, but also in other areas of life, one of the things I
am most proud of is the fact that leadership is one of my strengths.
Not only am I a leader, but in many ways, I am also an extrovert. Being with people
is something I truly enjoy and look forward to. I believe that the people close to
me know the real me because I tend to be a very open person. I am the type of
person who loves to laugh and spend time with my friends and family, but I am not
afraid to work hard when the time comes.
Internship Reflection
The internship that I acquired this summer was at Palisades Medical hospital in the
physical rehabilitation center. I have volunteered in many other physical therapy
facilities, but this internship was the best I ever had. The previous facilities that I
volunteered at were private practices I wanted to change the environment so I
decided to volunteer in the hospital. During my internship, I was exposed to new
concepts within physical therapy, which lead me to a new understanding about the
musculoskeletal system. I had the pleasure of shadowing Doctor Kimberly DuPree
she exposed me to various treatment plans and programs to help restore a patient s
mobility. The essential courses that I have taken at Saint Peters University such as
Kinesiology and Exercise Physiology prepared me for this opportunity. I would
observe most of her evaluations for educational purposes and to translate for her
because most of the patients were Hispanic. Throughout her evaluations, I saw that
she would go beyond what was written on the prescription and treat other areas that
may have caused the primary symptom. During my time of volunteering, Doctor
Kimberly mostly dealt with patients with lower extremity complications specifically
patients suffering from lower back pain and with these patients she would conduct a
number of tests that helped determine the source of the problem. In all her
assessments concerning patients with lower back pain she would test for signs of a
pelvic tilt. The reason why
The Theory Of Okun s Theory
Okun s law has always been accepted as an empirical regularity but lacks strong
theoretical foundations. We will attempt to provide a sound theoretical framework to
this amazing empirical regularity by deriving it from it s first principles as in Okun s
seminal paper .The most common error previous literature has committed is that it
has mis specified the Okun s framework .While Okun specified his relationship as
mutatis mutandis , most current applications imply a ceteris paribus relationship.
Most macroeconomic textbooks and previous literature have committed the above
error.* The Okun s original prediction that a 1 percent decrease in unemployment
causes a 3 percent increase in output is a Parri Passu relationship . What this means is
that other factors like change in weekly hours, labor force participation rates all have
independent effect on the output gap apart from unemployment changes.* Okuns
original paper published in 1962 Potential GNP : its measurement and significance is
a remarkably modern and pivotal statement on the supply side of Keynesian models
that emphasized on the demand management stabilization policies to stimulate the
economy .Okun s main conclusion was that a one percentage point reduction in
unemployment causes a 3 percent increase in output . The main aim of him
publicizing this relationship and the output gain was to encourage aggregate demand
driven policy changes on the lines of Keynes .* Okun said in his original paper if

Issues Associated with the Endangerment of the Green Sea...
The current status of the Green sea turtle has been deemed endangered, due to the
reckless behavior of fishermen, poachers and the disturbance of their nesting homes.
According to the Sea Turtle Restoration Project5 Ancient ocean dwellers, sea turtles
have lived on the Earth for 150 million years, since before the time of the dinosaurs.
Even though Green sea turtles are endangered, they have lived on this planet longer
than humans have. Author Carl Sofia2 states that for hundreds of millions of years,
turtles swam in a world without people while currently their endangerment has
become a nationwide economic issue. This particular topic is important because
Green sea turtles are beneficial to the ocean and its inhabitants. NOAA1 discovered
that Adult green sea turtles are unique among sea turtles in that they only eat plants;
they are herbivorous feeding primarily on sea grasses and algae. This diet is
beneficial to the ocean because they keep sea grass along the ocean floor short.
Marine biologists of the Sea TurtleConservancy6 declared that, Sea turtles and
manatees act as grazing animals that cut the grass short and help maintain the health
of the sea grass beds. Over the past decades, there has been a decline in sea grass
beds. This decline may be linked to the low numbers of sea turtles. While scientist
and environmentalist declare overfishing as one of the most important issues, the
continuous endangerment of Green sea turtles are more important because they re
Abusive Domestic Relationship Defence
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics half of the female victims of
domestic violence experience more than one incident of abuse (Australian Bureau
of Statistics, 2013). In Queensland using spousal abuse as a defence to murder can
be problematic for female defendants who kill their abusers. Jurors in most cases
relating to spousal abuse tend to find the act of pre emptive killing in self defence
not justifiable. Queensland s Criminal Code should be amended to allow the
Abusive Domestic Relationship Defence to be used as a full defence. This can be
proven as victims of violencetend to lack the ability to make logical decisions;
individuals feel a case of entrapment and the victim signals violence and acts before

In R v. Runjanjic and Kontinnen (1991), Chief Justice King explained the effects
of Battered Woman Syndrome ; a theory which is used to invoke why women kill
their abusive partners their (women) reactions and responses differ from those
which might be expected by persons who lack the advantage of an acquaintance
(Lenore Walker, 2012). Walker argues that the syndrome would influence the
abused individual to make decisions which appear illogical to a typical person. A
common person would leave an abusive relationship rather than kill for self
preservation, whilst the syndrome would influence the victim to kill. In the case R
v. Runjanjic and Kontinnen (1991) the loss of this ability is clear as the defendant s
lawyer claimed , Though she doesn t consciously remember her decision making
process, Kontinnen grabbed a shotgun and shot Hill in the back of the head
(Bradfield, 2011). The fact that Kontinnen cannot remember what caused her to make
the decision to kill the deceased displays the effect violence has had on her mental
health. Defendants using the defence of Killing for preservation in an abusive
relationship should have the opportunity for a full acquittal, as their damaged mind
takes control of their decision
Essay on Role of Women in Edmund Spenser s The Faerie
Queene
Role of Women in Edmund Spenser s The Faerie Queene
Edmund Spenser in his epic romance, The Faerie Queene, invents and depicts a
wide array of female figures. Some of these women, such as Una and Caelia, are
generally shown as faithful, virtuous and overall lovely creatures. Other feminine
characters, such as Errour, Pride, and Duessa are false, lecherous and evil. This
might seem to be the end of Spenser s categorization of women; that they are either
good or bad. Yet upon closer examination one finds that Spenser seems to be
struggling to portray women more honestly, to depict the complex reality of woman
(Berger, 92). Spenser does not simply idealize women or the feminine viewpoint as

Upon seeing Redcrosse being strangled by Errour s vile tail, Una provides
directions saying Now now Sir knight, shew what ye bee, / Add faith unto your
force, and be not faint: / Strangle her, else she sure will strangle thee (1.19.164 66).
With Una s encouragement and guidance Redcrosse is able to free himself from
Errour s grasp and slay the snake creature. Again in the third canto, Spenser
describes Una as a brave and powerful creature, She of nought affrayd, / Through
woods and wastnesse wide travels alone (3.3.25 6). It seems that Una is perfectly in
control of her various situations, and that Spenser is depicting women as being
capable of being both beautiful and chaste as well as strong and confident.
Una is also portrayed with a religious power as she is a spiritual guide for
Redcrosse. Redcrosse s chief faults are a weak faith and a corresponding excessive
confidence in his own virtue (Broaddus, 9). Redcrosse in turn relies almost
completely on Una to guide him on the righteous path. As Una and Redcrosse begin
their journey together, Redcrosse lustily pricks across the plains, while Una takes the
more spiritually appropriate, and slower, transportation. Spenser writes of Una:
A lovely Ladie rode him faire beside,
Upon a lowly Asse more white then snow,
Yet she much whiter, but the same did hide
Under a vele, that wimpled was full

Maslow created self actualization theory that represents a concept derived from
Humanistic psychological. Self actualization definition is, to become what you were

Fitter, Happier, More Productive are the first words that spoken through a

perspective, forcing people to live their life in ways that may not produce happiness.
The words in Fitter Happier describe this clouded view and explain that we as

This demonstrates that for most Americans, societal pressures have become more
important to them than their own happiness. This directly relates to David Foster
Wallace s commencement speech as while he demonstrated how while he had a
prosperous job, the monotony and emptiness he felt in his life pushed him over the
edge. Pressure to only see jobs such as doctors, businessman, and engineer s as
successful hampers the happiness for numerous people because people often choose
their industry based on what their peers or family members would consider to be a
path to success. People often care more about the way they look to others than the
way that they feel about themselves, and choosing an industry to attain more wealth
is just an example of that. I struggle with this problem too, as my parents both want
me to be an Accountant, but I find that I struggle with Accounting and it isn t and
industry I enjoy. I would much rather explore other industries, and see what I enjoy
before setting myself on a ridged path, but because of family expectations and
societal standards, I am still an accounting major even though I would not be happy
with a job in Accounting. This is a bit hypocritical because in this way I am
conforming to normative values, but this shows the struggle that many people have
today between balancing
Senior Year
The summer before senior year is when many people attempt to reevaluate their
lives, and change anything about themselves that does not satisfy them. One of the
greatest motivators for change, is knowing that you should be better. Not just that
you wish to be different, but knowing you have fallen short of your own potential.
When I observed myself going into senior year, I knew that I had fallen short of my
potential I was not being my best self and I set out to change that. Running has never
been my thing. I was always the girl lagging behind when the class ran laps in gym;
always the one with the slowest mile time. I loathed running more than anything yet I
envied those who could run with ease. At the beginning of this summer,

Comparing Dorian Gray And Neil Jordan s Interview With
A
Oscar Wilde s The Picture of Dorian Gray and Neil Jordan s Interview with a
Vampire are gothic narrations that incorporate the themes of sensuality and
hedonism. Although the texts do not contain any explicit statements of
homoeroticism, the suggestive narration, allusions and imagery, camera angles
and music highlight the homoerotic feelings between men. While Wilde does not
mention any homosexual acts explicitly, the element of homoeroticism is
described within the competition for Dorian s attention. Dorian is described
through allusions to be likened to Adonis; a creature who looks as if he were
made of ivory and rose leaves. (Lord Henry Wotten) Adonis, a representation of
youthful idealism is a symbolic gesture of Dorian s youthful sensuality. Lord
Henry and Basil Hallward praise Dorian s youthful demeanour, Basil commenting
as long as I live, the personality of Dorian Gray will dominate me. (Basil Hallward)
Whilst Basil is rejected, Dorian wishes to emulate Lord Henry, which in turn, rouses
Lord Henry from his characteristic languor to a desire to influence Dorian, a process
that is itself a sublimated expression of homosexuality. The older gentlemen s

Armada Portrait Analysis
Elizabeth I, queen of England, was very strategic in the way she presented herself to
the public. In my short story, The Queen s Decision, Elizabeth s public and private
selves are evident and occasionally contrast with each other, especially during the
decision to execute Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots. Publicly, the Tudor queen had a
strong aversion to beheading MaryStuart, but her personal insights depict hostility to
the fellow queen.
Elizabeth sitting on a throne made of silk from Asia, in reference to England s
colonial power. The Armada portrait was a public display to spread a positive
image of the queen as propaganda and to showcase the Tudor queen s strength.
Similar to Elizabeth s Armada portrait in which she places her hand on the globe
(particularly North America), Elizabeth is placed directly on colonized land (Asian
silk), portraying England s power over other nations. In this instance, Elizabeth s
publicly demonstrates her power and her physical embodiment of England in a subtle,
meaningful way.
Furthermore, Elizabeth is dressed in a gold and white gown with pearls lining the
bodice, inspired by the Armada portrait again. Dubbed as the virgin queen, white and
pearls are both indicative of virginity and chastity, with gold being symbolic of
wealth. Also, pearls are linked with the moon, an entity that is difficult to reach and
having immense influence over others, similar to Elizabeth herself. Having pearls
line the bodice, where the heart and stomach designate the inward seat of passion,
emotion, secret thoughts, affections, or feelings, (OED) illustrates Elizabeth s ability
to restrain her biological urges. Elizabeth s natural body intersects with the body
politic, in that her natural body is utilized to present a political ideal of her being in
control.
William Cecil mentions Mary s plots against Elizabeth, notably the three major plots
she is suspected of committing during her imprisonment in England. The Ridofli Plot,
The Throgmorton Plot and the Babington Plot are the three times Mary attempted to
kill Elizabeth, with her involvement in the Babington Plot leading to her execution.
In Elizabeth s letter to William Cecil, April 11, 1572, she doesn t want to rush any

Diversity And Social Justice By Paulo Freire
Diversity and Social Justice
Education is that terrain where power and politics are given fundamental
expression, since it is where meaning, desire, language. and values engage and
respond to the deeper beliefs about every nature of what it means to be human, to
dream, and to name and struggle for a particular future and way of life (Freire, 1985).
Education gives people the opportunity to take part in a reflective process and find
solutions to existing societal problems. Over the course program, I have developed a
deeper understanding of adult education and literacy specifically among the
underserved population. My perceptions of adult literacy have changed from merely
engaging learners with the text to a deeper understanding of what it means to be a
literate adult. Why a focus on adult literacy and education?
According to Paulo Freire, no one elects to be illiterate. One is illiterate because of
objective conditions. In certain circumstances, the illiterate man is the man who does
not need to read. In other circumstances, he is the one to whom the right to read was
denied (Freire, 1985 p.13). According to Freire s argument, it is suffice to say that as
an individual or leaner perhaps, being literate is not an individual s choice. As an
adult educator aspiring to work with underserved populations among them the
Turkana community in northern Kenya, understanding the root causes of illiteracy
and overall low rates of enrolments in adult education programs is crucial
The Spaces Of Consumption And The Developments Of
Modern...
How Desire is constructed within the spaces of consumption and the developments
of modern consumerism. Desire has helped build and form what we know today
as the modern department store. The idea of wanting something you don t already
have has continually been a driving factor of modern consumerism. Many aspects
have influenced consumerism and desire; visual displays within the large
windows of department stores have constructed the way in which we desire and
consume goods. A window display works by drawing a consumer in towards a
store showing them items that they do not necessarily need but have a desire or a
want for, leaving a consumer with a want to go inside and purchase the items of
which they desire. The interior displays and layouts also influence consumerism and
desire. Within the spaces of consumption itself have major impact on the way in
which we shop; they are designed to lead us around a certain path, and place similar
items next to each other to tempt us into buying more. Although it has been
discussed that in the late eighteenth century Oxford Street had already been
described as a dazzling spectacle of splendidly lit shop fronts and alluring and
handsome displays. (Nova, M, 1996, Page 46) it s not really until the nineteenth
century that the link with consumerism and desire has been considered to have be
fully connected. This could be due to the historical and class divides of the years
leading up to the late eighteenth early nineteenth
Bath Bomb Research Paper
A bath bomb is a hard packed mixture of chemicals which effervesces when
wet. They are used to add scent and color to the water of your bathtub. The first
bath bomb was created in 1989 by Mo Constatine. Mo was trying to create bath
bombs because he was trying to create lush, but instead created a bath bomb. Mo
also wanted to make the people feel relaxed and happy. Mo Constantine made the
bath bomb in Australia. After the bath bomb started in Australia, it moved around
the world. Bath Bombs have a lot of science behind them. There is a huge chemical
reaction when the bath bomb is put into water. The two main ingredients that make a
bath bomb fizz, is baking soda and citric acid. These chemicals are inert when they

Roberta Victor career began when she was only 15 years old sitting in a cafe in
New York City when a friend insisted that she could make fast money. She coped
with this job by getting paid as she states, I m the same as I was 20 minutes ago,
except that now I have $50 in my pocket (41). She is implying that she didn t feel
anything and was the same person just that now she had money on her. She would
spend her time doing her nails, going to the beauty parlor, and shopping to be able
to blend in. However, Roberta went from being a call girl to a streetwalker as she
became a drug addict. After a while, the work became a means of supplying drugs
(44). Her use of drugs led to a large drug habit. She was no longer able to be a call
girl as the drugs had transformed her looks and she needed to look presentable.
However, her transitioning from being a call girl to a streetwalker didn t affect her
as much to hate her job. She shows how she copes with her job by stating, What I
did was no different from what 99% of American women are taught to do (48).
Roberta thought that her job was no different than what American women were
doing. She even continued to compare her job as a call girl to a women date. As in
the novel a visual is illustrated that compares a woman on a date with her job as she
would charge five dollars to hold hands whereas a woman wouldn t kiss a man on the
first date.

In case the lockerhirer has some genuine reasons as in the case of NRIs or persons
who are out of town due to a transferable job etc., banks may allow the locker hirer
to continue with the locker. In case the locker hirer does not respond nor operate
the locker, banks should consider opening the lockers after giving due notice to
him. In this context, banks should incorporate a clause in the locker agreement
that in case the locker remains unoperated for more than one year, the bank would
have the right to cancel the allotment of the locker and open the locker, even if the
rent is paid regularly. (iii) Banks should have clear procedure drawn up in

The Outsiders Reflection
In the novel The Outsiders, one of the many thematic statements is that people
become trapped on one side of an argument. They only see from one perspective and
fail to see the other side. The paragraphs below illustrate when and how Ponyboy
changes his perspective, understands the other side, and gradually breaks the barrier
between the Socs and greasers.
Ponyboy started to learn that not all Socs were arrogant and violent when Dally
took the gang of greasers to the movie. Coincidentally, this was the day after
Johnny got jumped by a group of Socs. They saw 2 girls named Marcia and Cherry
who were Socs. Dally asked Cherry and Marcia if they wanted cokes. Marcia took
the Coca Cola, although Cherry didn t. Afterwards, Cherry asked if Ponyboy
wanted to go get some popcorn and they started talking and chatting. While the were
chatting Ponyboy told Cherry what had happened to Johnny. Through that
conversation Cherry was able to convince Ponyboy that not all Socs were violent
and arrogant. From my perspective I think that Greasers and Socs weren t really all
that different. Moreover, Ponyboy never actually knew what the Greasers had done
to the Socs. For example all Socs aren t like that, she said.
You have to believe me, Ponyboy. Not all of us are like that.
Sure, I said.
That s like saying all you greasers are like Dallas Winston. I ll bet he s jumped a few
people.
I digested that. It was true. (S. E. Hinton, 1967, P.34) This evidence supports my
theme because it

All I can remember worrying about is if I ll ever finish the last level of Super Mario Bros on the Wii, but now I am in high school trying to be the best I can be by planning my future in the the best way possible. Dorsolateral Prefrontal Cortex Case Study Overview: The Dorsolateral Prefrontal Cortex (DLPFC) is part of the frontal lobe, one of the most complex parts of the brain and among the last areas to develop. According to numerous neuroimaging studies, it may not be fully mature until a person s mid 20s. The DLFPC has numerous connections with other parts of the brain and helps integrate information from different systems. The DLPFC is involved in higher order processing and executive functions like working memory, planning, attention, and self regulation. These functions are crucial for everyday tasks like learning, decision making, and socializing. The prefrontal cortex may be further subdivided into the dorsolateral, orbitofrontal, and (sometimes) ventrolateral cortices, though there is some debate about these divisions. There is not a clear anatomical line where the DLPFC begins and ends. One way of defining it is by its connection to the parvocellular subdivision of the mediodorsal nucleus of the thalamus. • 4. Sugar And Its Effect On Life WA#8 Sugar Sugar is a delicious but addictive ingredient that is used very often in today s diet. Even though sugar makes food taste delicious, people do not realize what is actually happening when it is consumed into their bodies and how it affects their lives. The negatives of sugar are endless, this world basically uses sugar for anything. Sugar is compared to drugs also. Although there are different types of sugar the worst of its kind is refined sugar. All sugars, in general, are sources of sucrose, glucose, or fructose or all of them together but hardly any vitamin, minerals, or antioxidants. On April 11th, 2014, Sarah Wilson posted How 3 Years With No Sugar Changed My Life , in this she describes how quitting sugar changed her physical and mental health in a positive way, her skin cleared up, her wrinkles disappeared, she lost weight, not too much but weight was still lost, she has more self control, and she healed her thyroid. That sounds like a positive turn out. Sugar gives no essential nutrients and is also bad for teeth. According to healthyteeth.org, Sugar plays a harmful role in tooth decay. Plaque uses the sugar as energy, the bacteria turns it into some sort of glue like substance and it sticks itself to the tooth s surface, and that is what makes it harder for the bacteria to get washed away. Labelling theory is one of the theories which explain the causes of deviant and criminal behaviour in society. It gives an insight on what could make an individual be attracted to criminal behavior as opposed to morally desirable behavior. This theory explains the causes of criminal and deviant behaviour in society. It emphasizes that criminal behavior occurs as a result of the dominant social group labelling minority groups who are viewed to be committing acts which are against social norms. The theory discusses how the behavior and self identity of an individual can be influenced or determined by different terms which the dominant population uses to describe them. According... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This group defines deviance and explains the levels which can be tolerated by society. When this group labels someone as deviant, they may change their treatment of the individual. This change usually depends on the extent of deviance exhibited by the individual. The change in treatment of the individual affects their self image. The higher the change, the higher their image is affected. In some cases, especially when the self image is greatly affected, the individual changes their nature to conform to the labels which are given to them. The effect of labelling theory on juvenile behaviour is a bit more pronounced and clear. Youths are especially vulnerable to labelling theory. Once they start to believe in their negative labels, self rejection occurs which plays a major role in the social rejection theory. This self rejection attitude leads them to deviate from the norms and values of society (David J. Bordua). These youths then go on to reject those that have labelled them and tend to set up their own criminal lifestyles consisting of criminal behaviour. In schools, those that come from a working class family or a lower class, the youth gangs are seen as trouble makers compared to the middle class gangs who are labelled as pranksters instead. Research has shown that many of the youth gangs who come from the lower class get arrested and are labelled further as

The story of Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach and The Mystic of the Cave from The Republic by Plato are two stories that are an allegory about morals. An allegory is a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning about a moral, politics or religious meaning. Jonathan Seagull tries to get the other seagulls to concentrate more on flying and the prisoner tries to get the other prisoners to be open minded and get them out of the den. Will these two be successful at what they are trying to do? These two stories show morals that are vital because the characters both decide to go out on their own, they never give up on themselves, and they show love and forgiveness. First, these two stories show morals that are important because the characters does the opposite of what everyone in their group does. In the book, Jonathan Livingston Seagull, Jonathan feels like it is more important to learn the techniques to fly better rather than pick out left over food. He also learns if he flies better, then he has a greater chance at finding better food. What he had once hoped for the flock, he now gained for himself alone. (Bach pg. 26) Jonathan compares to the prisoner in The Myth of the Cave because the prisoners are forced to look forward at the shadows on the wall. The only undisputed facts are: there are gases that are transparent to ultraviolet light but absorb infrared radiation, creating the greenhouse effect , and human activity has caused the accumulation of greenhouse gasses to increase across the world (McKibben Wilcoxen, 2002). The application of microeconomic principles can be used to address some of the fallout of the climate change caused by the greenhouse effect. In this paper we will take a look at three such measures and what their application can mean to the industry. The same way that there are various uncertain factors when accounting for climate change (clouds, ocean temperature, aerosols effect, etc.), there are various microeconomic principles that can be applied to help reduce emissions, with equally diverse results. One of the most limiting forms of creating clean emissions standards is a renewable portfolio standard (RPS) limited to renewable technology (Paul, Palmer Woerman, 2011). This is restrictive because of an unfair distribution of credits dependent upon which technology the RPS is being applied to. For example, an RPS that treats all renewables equally would highly encourage the low cost renewables like bio mass and wind, while high cost renewables like solar would not be promoted as fairly (Paul, Palmer Woerman). Some states help address this disproportion allotment with carve outs or portions of the RPS that addresses separate renewables

Most criticism towards the Canadian Senate is directed at the ineffectiveness of the upper house.[13] The Constitution states that the Senate shall act as a chamber of sober second thought from the perceived more radical lower house.[14] However, the Senate has proven to be useless in this process, and does not act as a voice of reason or representative opinion. The argument that the Senate is more reflective of the national population than the House of Commons definitely doesn t come cheap. Because Senators are not elected they don t represent the public interest and therefore shear no accountability. This lack of accountability allows for the chamber s activities to become autonomous and secretive. Ultimately, the citizens of Canada are left in the dark in regards to the performance and activities of the Senate. At the same time, when exploring the link between the upper and lower houses, it is rational to say that the Senate serves no purpose in the Canadian political system. As Senators come into power through recommendation of the Prime Minister, it is uncommon for the chamber to disagree with the government. Therefore, Senator appointment does

Tupac s application of the eternal theme of the struggle between good and evil to the cycle of prey vs. predator that is showcased in Hail Mary is unique and incorporates heart, mind, body and soul. Tupac explores the catch 22 of falling prey to evil if choosing to become a predator in order to survive, and shares the conflicting emotions of many young African American men who have been born into this. • 28. Low And Low Self Esteem Self esteem has started to show a great impact on the life of people around us. Although there are high and low levels of self esteem, which can lead us to divergent conclusions. The people with high self esteem, appear to be narcissistic and have the thought that the world revolves all around themselves. Accordingly, to the people with low self esteem they go to the conclusions of suicide, and depression, they ponder that people do not love them enough, so that they are not worthy enough to be in this life. The effects of low self esteemand high self esteem leave an impact on the career that people set their mind to. The cause of self esteem plays a huge role in our life because it will affect our future careers and success in the future. Success depends on the mindset. Moreover, the mindset is what one sets itself to think or do. Ordinarily, the mindset that the people have reflects on their own personality and the way that they view the world. Arguably, many people see the world unevenly than the other people do. They see the world as chaotic and stressful, as the other people view it regular, normal with the problems it has and the peace it has also. The people with a fixed mindset have a contrastingly view of the world than the people with low and high self esteem do. This was the beginning of the letter that I received in the mail this past fall; though it was simply a letter, it was the beginning of a new chapter in my life! To be a sun devil means to strive for excellence, to give your all, to put your heart into your work, to never give up, to excel in all you set out to do. I am extremely pleased to now officially be a student of Arizona State University! When I first got the letter that I mentioned above informing me that I had been accepted to ASU, my heart filled with pride and anticipation as I realized how it felt to be a Sun Devil! Seeking a higher education, striving to better ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In ASU, my chosen major is Business Management through the William P. Carey School of Business. I chose this major because of my love for communication, leadership, and studies involving money. I really enjoy working with my dad who owns his own business and I take pleasure in understanding all the different processes within the business. Also, ever since I was a little girl, I have enjoyed learning about the economy and money in general. Another reason I chose business management was that it requires leadership, which has always been one of my strong points. I have experience leading and people have told me I am good at it though I know there is always plenty of room for improvement. I do know how to follow, but I am a leader at heart. I truly enjoy managing various projects and seeing them come together successfully. Because I think it is important as a student seeking a degree in Business Management to feel comfortable in leadership positions not only in the workplace, but also in other areas of life, one of the things I am most proud of is the fact that leadership is one of my strengths. Not only am I a leader, but in many ways, I am also an extrovert. Being with people is something I truly enjoy and look forward to. I believe that the people close to me know the real me because I tend to be a very open person. I am the type of person who loves to laugh and spend time with my friends and family, but I am not afraid to work hard when the time comes.

I have volunteered in many other physical therapy facilities, but this internship was the best I ever had. The previous facilities that I volunteered at were private practices I wanted to change the environment so I decided to volunteer in the hospital. During my internship, I was exposed to new concepts within physical therapy, which lead me to a new understanding about the musculoskeletal system. I had the pleasure of shadowing Doctor Kimberly DuPree she exposed me to various treatment plans and programs to help restore a patient s mobility. The essential courses that I have taken at Saint Peters University such as Kinesiology and Exercise Physiology prepared me for this opportunity. I would observe most of her evaluations for educational purposes and to translate for her because most of the patients were Hispanic. Throughout her evaluations, I saw that she would go beyond what was written on the prescription and treat other areas that may have caused the primary symptom. During my time of volunteering, Doctor Kimberly mostly dealt with patients with lower extremity complications specifically patients suffering from lower back pain and with these patients she would conduct a number of tests that helped determine the source of the problem. In all her assessments concerning patients with lower back pain she would test for signs of a pelvic tilt. The reason why

We will attempt to provide a sound theoretical framework to this amazing empirical regularity by deriving it from it s first principles as in Okun s seminal paper .The most common error previous literature has committed is that it has mis specified the Okun s framework .While Okun specified his relationship as mutatis mutandis , most current applications imply a ceteris paribus relationship. Most macroeconomic textbooks and previous literature have committed the above error.* The Okun s original prediction that a 1 percent decrease in unemployment causes a 3 percent increase in output is a Parri Passu relationship . What this means is that other factors like change in weekly hours, labor force participation rates all have independent effect on the output gap apart from unemployment changes.* Okuns original paper published in 1962 Potential GNP : its measurement and significance is a remarkably modern and pivotal statement on the supply side of Keynesian models that emphasized on the demand management stabilization policies to stimulate the economy .Okun s main conclusion was that a one percentage point reduction in unemployment causes a 3 percent increase in output . The main aim of him publicizing this relationship and the output gain was to encourage aggregate demand driven policy changes on the lines of Keynes .* Okun said in his original paper if programs to

The current status of the Green sea turtle has been deemed endangered, due to the reckless behavior of fishermen, poachers and the disturbance of their nesting homes. According to the Sea Turtle Restoration Project5 Ancient ocean dwellers, sea turtles have lived on the Earth for 150 million years, since before the time of the dinosaurs. Even though Green sea turtles are endangered, they have lived on this planet longer than humans have. Author Carl Sofia2 states that for hundreds of millions of years, turtles swam in a world without people while currently their endangerment has become a nationwide economic issue. This particular topic is important because Green sea turtles are beneficial to the ocean and its inhabitants. NOAA1 discovered that Adult green sea turtles are unique among sea turtles in that they only eat plants; they are herbivorous feeding primarily on sea grasses and algae. This diet is beneficial to the ocean because they keep sea grass along the ocean floor short. Marine biologists of the Sea TurtleConservancy6 declared that, Sea turtles and manatees act as grazing animals that cut the grass short and help maintain the health of the sea grass beds. Over the past decades, there has been a decline in sea grass beds. This decline may be linked to the low numbers of sea turtles. In Queensland using spousal abuse as a defence to murder can be problematic for female defendants who kill their abusers. Jurors in most cases relating to spousal abuse tend to find the act of pre emptive killing in self defence not justifiable. Queensland s Criminal Code should be amended to allow the Abusive Domestic Relationship Defence to be used as a full defence. Walker argues that the syndrome would influence the abused individual to make decisions which appear illogical to a typical person. A common person would leave an abusive relationship rather than kill for self preservation, whilst the syndrome would influence the victim to kill. In the case R v. Essay on Role of Women in Edmund Spenser s The Faerie Queene Role of Women in Edmund Spenser s The Faerie Queene Edmund Spenser in his epic romance, The Faerie Queene, invents and depicts a wide array of female figures. Some of these women, such as Una and Caelia, are generally shown as faithful, virtuous and overall lovely creatures. Other feminine characters, such as Errour, Pride, and Duessa are false, lecherous and evil. This might seem to be the end of Spenser s categorization of women; that they are either good or bad. Yet upon closer examination one finds that Spenser seems to be struggling to portray women more honestly, to depict the complex reality of woman (Berger, 92). Spenser does not simply idealize women or the feminine viewpoint as he could easily do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Upon seeing Redcrosse being strangled by Errour s vile tail, Una provides directions saying Now now Sir knight, shew what ye bee, / Add faith unto your force, and be not faint: / Strangle her, else she sure will strangle thee (1.19.164 66). With Una s encouragement and guidance Redcrosse is able to free himself from Errour s grasp and slay the snake creature. Again in the third canto, Spenser describes Una as a brave and powerful creature, She of nought affrayd, / Through woods and wastnesse wide travels alone (3.3.25 6). It seems that Una is perfectly in control of her various situations, and that Spenser is depicting women as being capable of being both beautiful and chaste as well as strong and confident. Una is also portrayed with a religious power as she is a spiritual guide for Redcrosse. Redcrosse s chief faults are a weak faith and a corresponding excessive confidence in his own virtue (Broaddus, 9). Redcrosse in turn relies almost completely on Una to guide him on the righteous path. As Una and Redcrosse begin their journey together, Redcrosse lustily pricks across the plains, while Una takes the more spiritually appropriate, and slower, transportation. Spenser writes of Una: A lovely Ladie rode him faire beside, Upon a lowly Asse more white then snow, Yet she much whiter, but the same did hide Under a vele, that wimpled was full

This directly relates to David Foster Wallace s commencement speech as while he demonstrated how while he had a prosperous job, the monotony and emptiness he felt in his life pushed him over the edge. Pressure to only see jobs such as doctors, businessman, and engineer s as successful hampers the happiness for numerous people because people often choose their industry based on what their peers or family members would consider to be a path to success. People often care more about the way they look to others than the way that they feel about themselves, and choosing an industry to attain more wealth is just an example of that. In my short story, The Queen s Decision, Elizabeth s public and private selves are evident and occasionally contrast with each other, especially during the decision to execute Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots. Publicly, the Tudor queen had a strong aversion to beheading MaryStuart, but her personal insights depict hostility to the fellow queen. Elizabeth sitting on a throne made of silk from Asia, in reference to England s colonial power. The Armada portrait was a public display to spread a positive image of the queen as propaganda and to showcase the Tudor queen s strength. Similar to Elizabeth s Armada portrait in which she places her hand on the globe (particularly North America), Elizabeth is placed directly on colonized land (Asian silk), portraying England s power over other nations. In this instance, Elizabeth s publicly demonstrates her power and her physical embodiment of England in a subtle, meaningful way. Furthermore, Elizabeth is dressed in a gold and white gown with pearls lining the bodice, inspired by the Armada portrait again. Dubbed as the virgin queen, white and pearls are both indicative of virginity and chastity, with gold being symbolic of wealth. Also, pearls are linked with the moon, an entity that is difficult to reach and having immense influence over others, similar to Elizabeth herself. Having pearls line the bodice, where the heart and stomach designate the inward seat of passion, emotion, secret thoughts, affections, or feelings, (OED) illustrates Elizabeth s ability to restrain her biological urges. Elizabeth s natural body intersects with the body politic, in that her natural body is utilized to present a political ideal of her being in control. William Cecil mentions Mary s plots against Elizabeth, notably the three major plots she is suspected of committing during her imprisonment in England. The Ridofli Plot, The Throgmorton Plot and the Babington Plot are the three times Mary attempted to kill Elizabeth, with her involvement in the Babington Plot leading to her execution. In Elizabeth s letter to William Cecil, April 11, 1572, she doesn t want to rush any irrevocable

Diversity And Social Justice By Paulo Freire Diversity and Social Justice Education is that terrain where power and politics are given fundamental expression, since it is where meaning, desire, language. and values engage and respond to the deeper beliefs about every nature of what it means to be human, to dream, and to name and struggle for a particular future and way of life (Freire, 1985). Education gives people the opportunity to take part in a reflective process and find solutions to existing societal problems. Over the course program, I have developed a deeper understanding of adult education and literacy specifically among the underserved population. My perceptions of adult literacy have changed from merely engaging learners with the text to a deeper understanding of what it means to be a literate adult. Why a focus on adult literacy and education? According to Paulo Freire, no one elects to be illiterate. One is illiterate because of objective conditions. In certain circumstances, the illiterate man is the man who does not need to read. In other circumstances, he is the one to whom the right to read was denied (Freire, 1985 p.13). According to Freire s argument, it is suffice to say that as an individual or leaner perhaps, being literate is not an individual s choice. As an adult educator aspiring to work with underserved populations among them the Turkana community in northern Kenya, understanding the root causes of illiteracy and overall low rates of enrolments in adult education programs is crucial
  • 46. The Spaces Of Consumption And The Developments Of Modern... How Desire is constructed within the spaces of consumption and the developments of modern consumerism. Desire has helped build and form what we know today as the modern department store. The idea of wanting something you don t already have has continually been a driving factor of modern consumerism. Many aspects have influenced consumerism and desire; visual displays within the large windows of department stores have constructed the way in which we desire and consume goods. A window display works by drawing a consumer in towards a store showing them items that they do not necessarily need but have a desire or a want for, leaving a consumer with a want to go inside and purchase the items of which they desire. The interior displays and layouts also influence consumerism and desire. Within the spaces of consumption itself have major impact on the way in which we shop; they are designed to lead us around a certain path, and place similar items next to each other to tempt us into buying more. Although it has been discussed that in the late eighteenth century Oxford Street had already been described as a dazzling spectacle of splendidly lit shop fronts and alluring and handsome displays. (Nova, M, 1996, Page 46) it s not really until the nineteenth century that the link with consumerism and desire has been considered to have be fully connected. This could be due to the historical and class divides of the years leading up to the late eighteenth early nineteenth

She shows how she copes with her job by stating, What I did was no different from what 99% of American women are taught to do (48). Roberta thought that her job was no different than what American women were doing. She even continued to compare her job as a call girl to a women date. As in the novel a visual is illustrated that compares a woman on a date with her job as she would charge five dollars to hold hands whereas a woman wouldn t kiss a man on the first date.
