4 Types Of Essays
Writing an essay on the topic "4 Types Of Essays" may initially seem straightforward, but it
poses several challenges. First and foremost, it requires a comprehensive understanding of the
subject matter. Exploring the various types of essays—narrative, descriptive, expository, and
persuasive—demands a deep dive into their unique characteristics, structures, and purposes.
Research is essential for crafting a well-informed essay. Delving into scholarly sources, academic
journals, and reputable online platforms can provide valuable insights into each essay type.
However, navigating through the plethora of information available and selecting credible sources
can be time-consuming and challenging.
Furthermore, organizing the essay effectively is crucial. It necessitates outlining the key features
of each essay type, discussing their distinguishing traits, and providing illustrative examples to
enhance comprehension. Balancing depth and breadth of coverage while maintaining coherence
can be demanding, requiring meticulous planning and careful execution.
Another obstacle lies in ensuring clarity and coherence throughout the essay. Clearly articulating
the differences between narrative, descriptive, expository, and persuasive essays demands
precision in language and structure. Striving for clarity without oversimplification and coherence
without sacrificing depth is a delicate balancing act that requires careful attention to detail.
Moreover, incorporating personal insights and analysis adds another layer of complexity.
Interpreting the significance of each essay type in various contexts and offering critical
perspectives necessitates critical thinking and analytical skills. It involves synthesizing
information, evaluating arguments, and presenting well-supported conclusions, all of which
require careful deliberation and intellectual rigor.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic "4 Types Of Essays" is not without its challenges. It
demands a thorough understanding of the subject matter, diligent research, effective
organization, clarity of expression, and critical analysis. However, with dedication, perseverance,
and attention to detail, navigating these challenges is achievable, leading to a comprehensive and
insightful exploration of the topic.

William Shakespeare s The Bed
I looked at Lyon laying in the bed. I knew that this was Lyon, because everyone
told me so. But the boy before me with the tubes running into his nose, and the
translucent skin was not the boy I knew. My Lyon was robust, overweight vibrantly
healthy and possessed of a spirit that would cause him to get up from his chair and
dance across the room even if he was alone. The boy before me could barely breathe.
His body was nearly lost in the sheets of the bed and he didn t move. He sucked in air
through a tube in his throat and the machines pushed the oxygen into him in a
rhythmic tempo that was almost irritating. The machines around him hummed and
made faint noises that filled the room with an ambient presence. The one closest to
him beeped... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A tear fell from my cheek and struck his chin. Another tear slipped out of his eye
and trailed down to the pillow. He looked at me with an intensity that finally told
her that yes, this was the boy she knew as her friend; maybe more and I wrapped
myself around him, tears flowing freely. I felt the chuffing of a chuckle from his
throat and chest. It takes much more to kill me. I pulled myself away and looked
into his eyes; now listless, dull and faded. I let out a breath and told him
everything. From his own condition to the development with the Pentagon. I am
not staying here while you risk everything, Lyon argued, I ll learn how to walk
again. This has nothing to do with walking or the Pentagon or my own safety. I
have to help Konnor and Jemima and everyone at the Rebellion. I am the only
person who knows the secrets that the Pentagon has locked away. I am their key. I
don t need anyone else to die. Lyon s hand grabs ahold of my arm, I don t need you
to die. They re not going to kill me. How do you know? Is there any way for you to
know? I keep my mouth shut. Lyon s eyes linger on me and I push his hand away,
lifting myself off the bed. You are going to live, without one leg, but I want to keep
it that way. You need to stay here. My voice began to rise. I began to yell at him.
We were fighting. Why? Why do I need to stay behind when , Because I, I stop
myself and catch my breath. I bring my voice back down and clear my throat,

The Haitian Revolution In Langston Hughes s Troubled
Island
Forward:
Contextualizing Troubled Island The Haitian Revolution (1791 1804) is history s
only successful slave revolt, and African enslaved persons managed a monumental
feat on a largely insignificant island in the Caribbean under French control. Naturally,
numerous persons were and are inspired by the Haitian Revolution in facets of life
from aggravating social change to creating high art. The story even remains impactful
without racial influence; considering, the dominated persons were long subjugated
and unprepared for battle, yet they defeated a world power for their freedom.
Concentrating on elevated art forms, Langston Hughes (1902 1967) wrote the libretto
Troubled Island grounded in the Haitian Revolution s aftermath and Haiti coming into
its own as a nation. By following the revolution s leader Jean Jacques Dessalines,
Troubled Island stresses Haiti s need to cope with the tribulations of banding together
and organizing an emerging nation. Moreover, the libretto highlights intraracism
among the Haitians following independence, including France s cultural influence
continuing to divide Haitians. Nevertheless, Troubled Island is not a total retelling of
actual, historical events, for persons creating a show often alter or add events to fit
the operatic stage and emphasizes significant themes. Fundamentally, William Grant
Still (1895 1978) composed the music and Langston Hughes wrote the libretto for
Troubled Island. In 1931, Hughes briefly visited Haiti,
Environmental Issue Essay
Environmental problems are something which belongs to nature or known as Mother
Earth [13]. Nature was created to help people survive from gathering foods until build
a house. This phenomenon happens continuously without thinking how much
damage that nature has because human s fault. Nature gradually becomes worse and
animal s life in danger. People who are aware of the importance of nature react.
Those people do several ways to save the environment. Although these efforts can
return back the environment, these efforts only can be hold temporarily. This
problem happens because those people who are aware of the environment only
slightly; for remaining, there are people either do not know or do not care about the

Air pollution levels have a large existence in big cities in Indonesia like Jakarta,
Bandung, and so on. This problem happens because the number of motor vehicle use
that is not limited [1]. Exhaust smog are the cause of air pollution which has the
dangerous effects for people s health. Exhaust smog is a result of burning fuel oil
every motor vehicle. There are two types of burning fuel oil: the first is complete
burning [2] and incomplete burning [3]. These types of burning have the
differentiation in producing the remainder. Complete burning produces carbon
dioxide as a result of remaining while incomplete burning produces carbon monoxide
as a result of the rest. Carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide are gases that are
harmful to people s health and could decrease ozone layer [4] [5]. Exhaust smog is
hazardous to people s health. Exhaust smog is a result of burning fuel oil [6].
Consequently, exhaust smog has possibility to contain carbon dioxide and carbon
monoxide gas. These harmful gases affect human respiration. Carbon monoxide
makes the respiratory system becomes worse. Carbon monoxide will interfere with
the process of hemoglobin in breathing [7]. As a result, people will not only feel lack
of oxygen but also often feel dizzy and weak. In the other hand, carbon dioxide
causes dizziness and fatigue to the sufferer [8]. In the prevention and reduction of the
impact of exhaust smog, the Indonesian government decided all motor vehicle users

The Fantasy Story
Today I #8217;d like to tell you about fantasy literature. It is very hard to tell all
about it but I #8217;ll try to do it as good as possible and not being boring. First
fantasy motifs were shown in romanticism. We all know the mystical and unreal
characters: ghosts, phantoms etc. Authors for building the special mood and charm
of that epoch used that figures.
But fantasy is something more than romantic ways of showing nature or inner
experiences of the main character in the novel. It #8217;s also not an attempt of
explaining the unreal and difficult to understand visions or event. In the course of
time it began to live it #8217;s own life more and more the writers started to use
these motifs. And what had happened? They created ... Show more content on

But one day, after many happy years on the throne, they got lost in a forest. While
walking the trees became coats and they suddenly fell out of the closet. Long years
in Narnia were just few minutes in the human world. Children have big
imagination so crossing the line between fantasies and real is not a problem, but it
is a big challenge for readers. Lewis created the magic land and as he once said:
#8221;even if all of that is imagined #8211; trees, grass, sun, moon, stars and Aslan,
there is no doubt: this imagined world is much better then the real one #8221;. The
next kinds, beloved by fantasy fans are #8220;never lands #8221;. They are
perfectly defined by one of first never lands creators Lord Dunsany. He named it as
places #8220;beyond the fields we know #8221;. And we are really crossing the
line of human perception. Authors don #8217;t blink their eye, don #8217;t pretend
like in the Venice carnival. Not everything is from the beginning land of fantasy.
Tolkien made never lands legal, gave them autonomy and independence, full rights
in authors imagination. He said that artistic imagination has no borders and cannot
be restricted by what is real. We can see what we want to see, also the land of
never. Never lands can use the cultural heritage of our world, but it all depends on
the author. Of course playing in never lands must be based on understanding and
agreement between writer and reader, we have to accept all the rules and it
Analysis Of Jeanne D Arc
A teen peasant guided by God, France under attack, and only a silver ring to track
back into history. In Medieval times, there were many aspiring stories of defying the
meaning of a damsel. The defined term of a damsel was a young, unmarried woman,
although, embedded in our minds are women who needs help. Joan of Arcdidn t

armor saved her. She saved the French army from losing to Britain in the Hundred
Years War.
In 1412, Jeanne d Arc was born on a small farm in France. During this time period,
there was a bloody war going on, which is also known as the Hundred Years War. A
conflict between England and France over the right to own land, disputes of the
next French throne, and economic conflicts. Less than fifty years before was the
Black plague which killed more than half of the country s population. Joan s father
was a farmer who practiced disciplinary while her mother was a home worker and
emphasized church ethics. Growing up, she was trained to tend animals and spin
wool. Joan wasn t taught to read or write, but she attended many village festivals
and was obedient to her parents. Women during this times was considered the
original sin since Eve was considered responsible for tempting Adam to eating the
apple. Therefore, women were supposed to remain silent and be under the control of
men. In her years of adolescence, the English was gaining the upper hand and
captured Paris, while
Edgar Allan Poe s Leathery
Streaks of shimmering sunlight filtered through a golden canopy of trees, casting
elegant shadows to dance across the mossy verdure. The lush grass was invested with
thriving insects that swarmed on the ground like an overcrowded marketplace. The
crickets made a harmonious song that echoed throughout the forest, almost in sync
with the repetitive calls of exotic animals that were crawling through shrubbery and
soaring high in the leafy giants. Leathery leaves brushed against each other in the
feeble breeze, almost as if they were whispering in hushed tones whilst squirrels ran
and frolicked in the bushes.
A balmy smell lingered in the humid air, mixing with the scent of damp earth.
Flowers were dotted across the luscious forest floor; their enticing fragrance leaving
an odd taste in their wake. Vines twisted up the trees, reaching magnificent heights
though some hung down like curtains, hiding parts of the forest away in darkness. ...

The essence of rain became more prominent as the trees began to clash and crash
against each other like drumsticks in the hands of a giant. All of a sudden, a
turbulent roar drowned out all the boisterous cries of animals, followed closely by a
dazzling fork of lightening. Soon enough, water was cascading from the heavens in a
torrent of rain, teaming up with the howl of wind that weaved through the clattering
oaks. Monkeys darted in and out of the treetops, trying to find the best place to take
shelter. The raindrops fell heavily, hitting the trees with such force that many leaves
had also began to flake

Sullivan et al., (2011) maintain acknowledging the complexity of relationships with
women, colleagues and health care organisation leads to greater job satisfaction for
midwives. Further to Sullivan et al., (2011) research Freeney and Fellenz (2013a;
2013b) demonstrates that quality midwifery care is promoted when midwives
experienced their role as valuable to the health organisation, those midwives that
perceived their role as autonomous and having a prosocial impact were further
engaged in their work. The findings of Aiken et al., (2012) extensive hospital research
of patient safety and satisfaction associated an improvement in patient outcomes,
including mortality and patient satisfaction when hospitals have lower patient to
nurse ratios with nurses involved in decision making, this improved job satisfaction
for nurses. In consideration of Aiken et al., (2012) findings and Freeney et al.,

improving outcomes for the woman.
The relationship between midwife and woman is identified as a collaborative

Ski Bum Is Meaningful Essay
Finding Meaning in the Otherwise Meaningless
Considering how hollow the promise of a corporate career has become, declares
Jackson Hogen, an author at SKI Magazine, who can say the ski bum is not the
wiser investor in his or her youth? In a world driven by economic success, societal
recognition, and temporal materials, people can be too easily lead away from their
passions to lead a miserable life. Why is the ski bum so happy? A ski bum lives his
or her life working long and seemingly meaningless hours making barely minimum
wage, in order to ski as much as possible. However, it only takes one trip to the ski
hill to see the happiness radiating off of these people. The reason ski bums are so
happy is because they live their lives doing the things they love most in the places
they love most. Not everyone has the opportunity to take a break from life to become
a ski bum, but embracing their lifestyle and focusing on the little things that bring
true happiness can greatly enhance the overall quality of a person s life. ... Show more

At an age with so much passion and determination to make something out of one s
self, shouldn t we be encouraging kids to follow their passion and do what they
love? After being told over and over that a college degree is the only key to
success, young adults feel obligated to attend a university, and consequently pursue
a lifestyle they have not chosen for themselves. If college is not one s goal, is it
wrong to postpone that step in life, or even ultimately choose to opt out of college?
Is it wrong to experience the world before deciding the future role that one will hold
in that world? I am not suggesting that college is not for everyone, I am rather
raising a point that is too often overlooked as kids contemplate their first steps into

Superfund Site Essay
When it comes to Superfund sites there are few more complex and challenging than
Portland Harbor. The site covers around ten miles of river (miles 3.5 to 9) form the
southern part of Sauvie Island to a bit past Fremont Bridge. There are numerous
potentially responsible parties (PRPs) that date back to over a hundred years of
contamination that includes a smorgasbord of pollutants. There are endangered
species act (ESA) concerns and the area is culturally noteworthy to six Native
American tribes. Portland Harbor is located along the Willamette River and has an
extensive history of commercial, shipping, and industrial activities. There are also
significant amounts of natural and cultural resources. In 1997, a mutual study
conducted by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) revealed that sediments in the harbor were
contaminated with DDT, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), petroleum, and
pesticides. Upon the discovery of this data, in 2000, the EPA established Portland
Harbor as a Superfundsite. The EPA purposed a list of Potentially Responsible Parties

The cons of not communicating the CSR activities are: * The emotional bond
between the customers and the company may not be too strong because the
customers do not come to know about the CSR activities extensively. * If the
activities are communicated the company can differentiate itself as a leading player
that cares about the health of the customers and also of the society in which it
operates. * Communicating the activities will create great credibility for the Dannon
brand which otherwise may not be created. It will help them to have a emotional
relationship with the customers.
Question 2) How does having a corporate parent (Danone) effect its decision to
externally communicate its CSR programs?
Answer: Having a corporate parent affected the decision of Dannon to externally
communicate its CSR programs. The Dannon Company was a U.S. subsidiary of
Danone, which was one of the largest health focused food company in the world.

Concrete And Concrete Of Concrete
Pretension concrete, also known as prestressed concrete, is one of the methods to
give more strength to the natural weakness of concrete through tension. The way this
works is by allowing the tendons to cure in the concrete. After it has cured the
tendons are released and the tension is applied. The analysis for continuous

include floors, bridges, and beams. When looking for this type of concrete in the
CSI divisions it is located under the precast section number 03 41 33. The
specifications go into detail about the standards and references needed for this type
of concrete. For example, there are two grades, 250 and 270, of low relaxation, seven

reference documents that go along with this are the ASTM Standards, U.S. Military

The Aspiring Author s Tale
The Aspiring Author s Tale
The cool autumn wind gusted through as the travelers continued their journey. The
weary wanderers decided to take a rest and have a meal. As the group sat in silence,
the Aspiring Author stood up.
I volunteer to tell a tale while we rest. I will tell a tale; a tale of adventure, bravery
and unity, so sit near and listen closely, the Aspiring Author declared.
A long time ago in a far away land there was a forest named The Oaklands. The
Oaklands were large and lively and many creatures inhabited it. The Oaklands were
ruled by the Order, who was known for their wisdom. Emperor Turtle was in control

Ivy stretched along the walls, and Clare stood in amazement.
This is beautiful, Clare said in awe.
Clare then thought of the animals back in the Willowlands. What they thought of her;
what they thought of the fox kind.
Clare stood on a large boulder and announced,
Foxes, I am Clare, daughter of the Leader Maddox Vulpes. I have come here to
announce that we should move back to the Willowlands. Other creatures think of us
as tricksters, sly dishonest creatures. We have to prove them wrong!
It was silent. Until the wolf, Alpha, clapped, and suddenly all the other foxes
clapped as well, excited to take back their rightful place. The foxes were prepped for
battle. They wore armor to protect them, and had brave hearts ready for battle. They
started their march into the WIllowlands, and when they finally reached their
destination; they stood brave in the face of danger.
Creatures gathered around them, and Clare proved to them the truth of the Emperor
Turtle. Emperor Turtle was sent to be judged by the Order, and the animals took
foxes in as beloved allies. The moral of this tale is to stand up for what you believe
in, and to make change yourself. Change only starts when you start

graduate tuition rate at James Madison University. While several methods and
techniques of forecasting could have been used, I focused primarily on the Least
Squares Regression technique, as it relates to projections, to project the rates for the
next ten years. Projected rates were slightly comparable to actual rates, though, other
techniques are not assumed to reduce the error of projected graduate tuition rates.
James Madison University is a comprehensive university in the Shenandoah Valley
of Harrisonburg Rockingham County, Virginia. Since it s start in 1954, the
graduate school has focused its efforts on the education of its students at a
reasonable cost. Although tuition has risen over the years, it can be assumed that
this is possibly due to the rising costs of operation. In recent years, 2009 2014, the
cost has increased by 34% ($305 to $410) for in state students. Similarly, there has
been an increase in out of state tuition by more than 20% ($890 $1095) since 2009.
Due to the rate increases over the past five years, I project that the cost will continue
to rise over the years.
The aim of our forecasting is to provide information about possible future changes in
tuition rates. In general, the three approaches to forecasting, projection, prediction,
and conjecture, all seek to produce information about future trends we expect to
examine in society; however, they do so in various
Coastal Migration of the Clovis People to the Americas
According to the standard accepted theory, the Clovis people were the first
inhabitants of the Americas. The Clovis people crossed the Beringia land bridge
during the period of the last ice age, from there they spread across the Americas
through an ice free corridor. However, recent finding have suggested that the first
people did not walk to America but came by boat. This paper will examine evidence
found in Haida Gwaii and other sites along North and South America that supports a
different view of human migration to the Americas, the coastal migration theory.
The peopling of the Americas was the last great human migration, the final leg of
our journey out of Africa (Bawaya, M. How the west was won). Precisely how and
when this migration occurred is presently up for debate. Accepted archaeological
wisdom stated by Hetherington suggests that the first Americans were large game
hunters who migrated from northeast Asia across the Beringian land bridge ca. 12000
years BP, spreading southward through a continental ice free corridor (R.
Hetherington et al.). Gugliotta says that archaeologists called these pioneers the
Clovis, after distinctive stone tools that were found at sites near Clovis, New Mexico,
in 1929 (Gugliotta, The first Americans).
In recent years, the Clovis migration model has been challenged by a wide range of
discoveries (Hadingham, E. America s First Immigrants). For one, Hadingham says
that, the latest studies show that the ice free corridor
Cellphones Today ( Benefits And Detriments )
Introduction: Cellphones Today (Benefits and Detriments). Cell phones, which
happen to be one of the greatest technological inventions of the 20th century has
become one of the addictions in the world. This obsession/addiction stems from the
technological and social capabilities of cellphones; ranging from the messaging
system, the ease of calling because of its portability, the apps that could be
downloaded to it, games, and all other capabilities. Apart from the calling and text
messaging abilities of mobile pones, they also have apps Facebook, instagram,
snapchat, YouTube, twitter, Skype. No wonder it has the potential of being addicting.
Although cell phones are also presently used to make communication easier and
faster, for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A recent study by the pew research center in 2014 found that 30% percent of
people aged 18 29 have used their phone to avoid social interaction with people
(Pew Report, 2010). The health effects of cellphone abuse includes eye problem as
a result of staring at the phone screen for a long period of time, cancer, as a result
of the radiofrequency emission of energy from the phone, and all other health
issues (Volkow et al., 2011). Mentally, the overuse of cellphones has been seen to
result into problems like social anxiety, insomnia, and among students the inability
to fully concentrate on academics (Acharya, et al., 2013). A recent study done at
Baylor and Seton Hall universities evaluated cellphone, text messaging and instant
messaging among students. This study showed that the average college student
checks their cellphone about 60 times a day, spends an average of 9 hours on their
phones everyday sends and gets text messages about 109.5 times a day (Roberts
Pirog, 2013). These rates are alarming and could lead to lack of concentration in
academics. The lack of concentration as a result of cellphone overuse among students
leads to things like procrastination as a result of them not knowing what to focus on
for readings, assignments, and essays. This could in turn lead to poor academic
performance and frustration as a result of them not knowing how

Adam And Nimrod Are Not Just Characters From Dante s
Work
Adam and Nimrod are not just characters from Dante s work. They both have
origins in Christianity. Genesis 3 is about Adam s sin, the first sin; disobeying the
Lord caused the fall of man. Genesis 11 is about Nimrod s sin. Nimrod was the first
ruler in the land of Shinar (Gen 10.10). Men, migrating east, settled in Shinar and
planned to construct a tower so tall, that it would reach the sky because this would
make a name for [themselves] (Gen. 11.4). When the Lord noticed this tower, he
scattered them . . . all over the earth, as well as [confusing] the speech of all the
world (Gen. 11.8 9). I agree with V. Stanley Benfell; Nimrod s sin, resulting in the fall
of the language, is similar to the first sin that caused the fall of man.
Sins in the Hebrew Bible
To start with, the first man, Adam, is responsible for the original sin. Genesis 3
introduces the last creature the Lord made, the serpent (Everts 253). Though not
clarified in Genesis 3, Revelations 12:9 considers the serpent to be the devil. The
serpent tempts the first woman, Eve, to disobey the Lord. The serpent chooses Eve
instead of Adam, because she is easier to manipulate (Everts 254). The Lord had
allowed Adam and Eve to eat from any tree, except from the Tree of Knowledge of
Good and Evil (Genesis 2.16 17). Eve gave the fruit from the forbidden tree to Adam
(Genesis 3.6). When the Lord discovered that the two humans had eaten the fruit he
forbade them from eating, he made the serpent eat only dust, made
The Three Laws Of Thermodynamics
Thermodynamics...
Thermodynamics is a branch in physics that deal with heat and temperature and how
they are related with energy and work. There are 3 laws of thermodynamics which
are used almost every day and some of them are present in our body.
Thermoregulation:
Thermoregulation is process by which our body keeps our internal body temperature
constant. Our optimum body temperature is 37В°C to 40В°C. Whenever our body
temperature increases or decreases our internal system brings our temperature back to
normal.
As the second law of thermodynamics states, the energy will spread from a high
concentration to low concentration or heat moves from high temperature to low
temperature , similarly when our body temperature increases our internal system tries

Higher the entropy the more disordered is the system. As the second law of
thermodynamics states, the entropy of a system will either increase or remain the
same.
Entropy can be used in monitoring a patient s EEG. EEG is Electroencephalography
which is a method used to record a patient s electric activity of the brain. It measure
the voltage fluctuation of ionic current within the neurons of the brain.
Mainly there are two entropy parameters, the fast reacting Response Entropy (RE)
and the more steady and robust State Entropy (ST). State entropy consists of the
entropy of the EEG signals 32 Hz. Response Entropy includes high frequencies up to
47 Hz.

Arguments About Refugees
What if someone told you that you weren t welcome somewhere because you
weren t originally from that certain place? Multiple people are told this every day,
and many people are let down every day because of this. Accepting refugees is one
of the major problems in the United States right now. I think that this problem is a
very large problem that we have in the United States. America tends to have this
problem because there are many different opinions on this topic. Some may argue
that refugees should not be allowed into our country because they have many
risks. This argument is distinguished from others because it will affect the way we
live. In other words, we have many generations to come and when they come to the
age where they are able to vote and help make federal decisions they will be able to
take consideration of what views people have on this highly debated topic. But
others may argue that they should be allowed into our country because they could be
a good addition. I think refugees should be allowed into the United States under some
certain conditions. One reason they should be allowed into the United States is that
refugees could make a positive impact on our economy. If we allow them into our
country they should be vetted to make sure that they are mentally and physically
healthy to be around. Finally, if they wantto be a part of our country they should
follow the process of becoming a citizen of the United States. Immigrationreform

Fujitsubo Lady, Yugao And Murasaki
Genji and his love with Fujitsubo Lady, Yugao and Murasaki
Genji is the main character in a Japanese classical work The Tale of Genji , which is
considered the world s first psychological novel written by Japanese novelist
Murasaki Shikibu during the Heian period. Using extended prose narrative, Murasaki
Shikibu portrays Genji s romances, usually tragic, with different women in his life.
Among all the women Genji has a romance with, there are three special women,
Fujitsubo Lady, Yugao and Murasaki, he shows great love to. Fujitsubo Lady, with a
high status and resembles Genji s mother Kiritsubo Lady, is the Emperor s favorite
consort. Unlike Fujitsubo Lady, Yugao is a woman born with a low status. Murasaki,

While getting married to Aoi, an elegant woman with high status, Genji is not
satisfied with the marriage between him and Aoi. In his mind, His wife was her
usual self, elegant and correct, with a guarded air that made him feel awkward
(Page118). This awkward feeling made him not willing to spend extra time with
Aoi and impelled him to search for alternative women especially those who are
more submissive and docile. Genji s encounter with Yugao made him find an ideal
woman who is submissive enough. According to Genji, Yugao is extremely
submissive, willing to accept whatever he might do (Page67) and she had clung to
him all day long with a timidity that he found touchingly childish (Page71). He
found Yugao is much different from his current wife Aoi who is always cold him,
and her submissiveness and timidity give Genji a feeling of superiority, which he
did not have when he is with Aoi. When Genji cannot get enough love from his
wife Aoi, he as no choice but to go out and search for alternatives. Given Aoi s
proud characteristic and high status, it is extremely hard for Genji to change the
way she behaves and make her submissive in front of him. People cannot deny the
psychological fact that they are more inclined to stay with people they like instead of
people they don t
Simulation Modelling Essay
Simulation modelling is the procedure of developing and analysing a prototype of a
physical model to predict its behaviour and performance in real world or over time.
A model represents the system itself and the simulation represents the operation of
the system over a specified time period. It can be used to show the effects of possible
conditions and the sequence of action. Modelling and simulationhelps obtaining
information about how a system will perform without testing it in real life. It shows
any flaws in the design and reduces potential errors with the system itself, as well the
operation of it. Also, validates the safety and durability of a physical prototype. This
reduces the costs and increases the quality of products and systems.

Simulations can often be more realistic than traditional experiments, as they allow to
change the environment parameters at any stage of the design.
Analysis and simulations can be performed faster and more accurate than hand
calculations and experimental testing. This allows using them for efficient analyse of
different alternatives. Also, it is quicker to make decisions from using simulation
applications.
Simulations set up a coherent environment that allows for integration of simulated
systems in the early analysis phase with initial components to a test environment for
the final system. Then, this environment can be transferred from development and
testing field to training and education phases for the system.

or even work in the front offices of sports team? Well, then accounting could be a
great career choice for you. Accounting is defined as the action of keeping financial
accounts. Accounting is a very misconceptive career path as many believe it to be
people siting in a cubicle crunching numbers. As there are some people who do
partake in this side of accounting, accounting is not merely this concept, however, it
is for people who work well in a group together and work to solve peoples problems
that have to do with money. Accounting is the career I chose because it involves
sociable, detailed oriented people, who work with numbers, coming together to solve
problems money related. In this paper, I will cover the history of my field, some
educational requirements, what actually is accounting, some common
misconceptions about accounting, some famous accountants, and other careers one

revolutionary ideals but without his start, accounting would not be the profession it is
The Good And The Evil
The Good and The Evil
There is good and there is bad, I was only twelve when I figured this out the hard
way. It was late during school when an alarm went off. I was a kid what can go
wrong I thought to myself as I foolishly opened a door we were clearly prohibited
to open because of a gun man near our school. This very action lead the school to
expel me and this would change my life for the good. Although my bad decisions
helped me know better, it s the bad that lead these three myths to suffer long life
consequences that ultimately explain why the earth is why it is today. These three
myths show the struggles and obstacles the Hebrew, Cherokee, and Maori people
had to overcome because of their vicious ways and or their actions under certain
obstacles that challenged the people of these myths. In the Yahweh myth the author
communicates In the garden was a snake, and the snake persuaded the women that
she could eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil without dying...She
ate the fruit, and gave some to the man too. (Creation Story World 33). Therefore,
the snake making this bad decision, led to Yahweh cursing the snake shouting, you
will be cursed by crawling your whole life and the women s children will eat you,
the women being Eve, whom he had beguiled into eating from the tree of knowledge
of good and evil. But not only was the snake cursed, Adam and Eve were also cursed.
Yahweh told Eve that she would be cured to suffer the pain of childbirth and

20 g of rice husk ash (RHA) was weighed and placed in three different 250 mL
Erlenmeyer conical flasks. Alkaline activating solution of sodium hydroxide was

of 8.0M NaOH was added in each conical flask and the mixture stirred using a
magnetic stirrer for 15 minutes. 50 g of calcined clays (CC) was weighed and added
to each of the three Erlenmeyer conical flasks labeled GP 1, GP 2 and GP 3
respectively. The mixtures were then transferred to 250 mL plastic bottles and
shaken in a ball mill for 5 hours (LГіpez et al., 2014). The fluid matrix was then
poured into ceramic crucibles and cured in an oven at a temperature of 80 В°C for
12 hours. The temperature conditions was then adjusted to 200 В°C for another 12
hours to facilitate complete polycondensation (LГіpez et al., 2014). The ultimate
geopolymer materials obtained were washed with distilled water severally to a pH
of 7.0 В± 0.5. Filtration was then done using aspirator pump model 7049 05. The

The Four Major Components Of The Communication-
Persuasive...
The communication persuasion paradigm has four major facets, which include the
sender, message, target, and effect. The sender is a critical component of the
communication persuasion paradigm in the sense that a persuasive communication
process depends, in part, on the characteristics of the sender (Jowett, O donnell,
2014). People place expectations on others based on a range of factors, which can
be social, political, economic, professional, and moral. As such, there are people
who can be described as famous or trendsetters on the mentioned grounds. The
persuasiveness of a piece of information is determined by the level of fame or
respect that the sender of such a message enjoys among a group of people (Dubois,
Rucker, Galinsky,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, a message about delivering the selves from the oppression of a regime
presented without many facts are highly persuasive when the target is the oppressed
population. Generally, the levels of reasoning of the target and his or her abilities in
understanding the information and any possible consequences are important in
achieving the outcome. The target is important because he or she is the one
generating feedback, which is crucial in understanding whether the message reached
the right person as intended. Additionally, it is significant because it is useful in
assessing the effects of the communicated information. Lastly, the persuasiveness of a
communication process depends on the effects it has caused (Jowett, O donnell,
2014). The effect is evaluated in light of the changes that are observed since the
communication was made and the feedback that has been provided by the receiver.
For example, the percentages of voter turnout in a certain area when their political
kingpin advises them not to participate in voting.
The effectiveness of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in persuading people, particularly the
African Americans was a factor of him as a trendsetter source, the appealing nature of
the contents of his messages, and the carefully selected intended targets (Arceneaux,
Johnson, Cryderman,
Desert Places Poetry Analysis
Witnessing constant disappearance, however, remaining to seem like the depiction
of complete normality. Deafening silence engulfing all surroundings, on its way to
eventually evoking insanity. The smell of cold, dry air freezes over all breathing
pathways, caging in the ribs, preventing the ability to inhale and exhale, leaving
behind the taste of metal as a reminder of a chaotic state of mind. Mentally trapped in
chosen solidarity, Robert Frost, William Shakespeare, and Elizabeth Bishop were able
to express their hidden despair through poetry. Frost having experienced major loss
in his life, Shakespeare lying to himself to cope with his actions, and Bishop
constantly masking her pain while in the eyes of the public. In Desert Places , When
my love swears she is made of truth , and One Art , the author s use connotative
diction to weaken the severity of their personal issues. Robert Frost s poem Desert
Places diminishes an overall sense of emptiness to being nothing compared to what he
holds within himself through the use of connotative diction. Throughout the poem,
the description of a cold, dark night represents the intensity of the depression that
Frost was feeling. In the final stanza, Frost reveals that I have it in me so much
nearer home, To scare myself with my own desert places , it being the darkness
previously mentioned in the poem. Furthermore, the desert places introduced in the
final line are a representation of the dark emotions Frost was experiencing, and to
state that they were within him, provide the sense that he did not express them to
other people, meaning he chose to be left with a cold, dark state of mind. Overall,
Desert Places is deemed as Frost s admittance to not fearing the troubles of the rest of
the world, because they could not cause him any greater pain that what his own
troubles already have.
As a result of facing constant loss, writing about emptiness allowed Frost the ability
to express the solidarity he felt within himself. With the experiences that Frost had
endured throughout his life, he is described as having suffered more than the normal
amount of tragedy , however, he also showed more than the usual amount of
determination and courage (Bailey).

pregnant woman s husband commits suicide short after the operation.
In the short story Nick is the main character. The story evolves around Nick s trip
to the Indian camp. Nick is very likely a young boy. We can see that by the
conversations he has with his father. For example Nick asks: is dying hard,
Daddy? . Here Nick shows that he is not old enough to be able to handle the concept
of death and of dying. Nick also looks away when his father operates the woman He

With the steady decrease in the click through rates over the last few years, many
businesses have started to totally realize the lack of effectiveness of banner advertising
for increasing sales. Increased visibility might still a benefit of the various banner

less attracted to invest in such channels that don t offer a calculable return on

Native ads are constantly increasing in popularity. The ability of these ads to be
integrated into another website or platform takes away the normal perceptions of
advertisement. People s attitudes towards advertising and their belief in advertising
are also dwindling. The use of native advertising is helpful in reducing this attitude
of people towards advertising. Examples of native advertising are sponsored ads on

A Report On Clinical Trails
One of the real worries with respect to bioactivity screening is resulting sufficient
clinical trials in human subjects, which are regularly ailing as a rule. The
nonattendance of clinical trails seriously obstructs the development of the bioactive
part recognized as an option pharmaceutical or helpful specialist. In this way the
investigations of Cymbopogonessential oils additionally should be substantiated by
clinical trials in human subjects (JOEL, D. M. 1998).
Truly our enthusiasm for Cymbopogon essential oils has quickly expanded, moving
from their sweet smelling potential to bioactive potential. It is opportune to
investigate bioactive capability of this sort when the interest for common cures from
the general population is raising a result of their protected use with no symptoms.
Likewise, the developing resistance of pathogenic microorganisms against ebb and

Transformation and Healing in John Paul Lederach s Book...
In When Blood and Bones Cry Out: Journeys through the soundscape of healing and
reconciliation (2010), John Paul Lederach, together with his daughter Angela Jill,
study the use of metaphors from sound to foster new pathways of conflict
transformation and healing. They ask the question how do people express and then
heal from violations that so destroy the essence of innocence, decency and life itself
that the very experience penetrates beyond comprehension and words? (2010, p. 17).
In the Lederach s perspective, aural properties found in music, poetry, story telling
and creative dance, with their regard for repetition and capacity to resonate diverse
sounds, offer alternative facets for conflict transformation and broadminded dialogue.
These ideas, linked with aural and sonic metaphors, give voice and soundto societies
needing to express the atrocities incurred at the hand of violence. Together, the
Lederach s propel the reader to envision another approach to social healingin settings
of protracted violence. An elemental point made throughout the book is the shift
away from the linear and sequential methods for healing transformation and
reconciliation to a dynamic and circular process. The linear method is not equipped
to handle post conflict environments where the end of the conflict does not signal the
end of violence, especially for women. As Lederach Lederach point out with their
story of Sierra Leone, the disturbing reality for women is that the sexual

its sales by extending its services to non business members. The first warehouse
operating under the name, Costco, began functioning in 1983 in Seattle, Washington.
In 1993 Costco and Price Club merged. Today, the company operates under Costco

In addition, it operates gasoline stations and manufacturing businesses such as special
food packaging, optical laboratories and meat processing. Costco is open only to its
members and offers three membership types for purchase: Business, Gold Star and
the Executive membership.
Investment Risk Factors
Costco has many risks associated with its financial and operational performance. One
of the biggest risks that Costco is facing todays is the competition from other retailers
and wholesalers, such as Wal Mart and Target. Costco compete with its competitors
for customers, qualified employees and management personnel, suitable sites and
suppliers. The retail business is extremely competitive and continues to get even more
completive. Such events as the evolution of retailing in online channels has improved
the ability of customers to compare prices and products and as a result enhanced
competition. Any significant increases of competition may adversely affect Costco s
financial performance, and make Costco incapable to compete successfully in the
future.
Majority of Costco warehouses is located in U.S. and Canada. Therefore, Costco s
financial and operational performance is highly dependent on U.S. and Canadian
operations. Within the U.S. it is highly dependent on its California operations, which
contained almost third of U.S. net sales. Any substantial decline in California
operations could
Revolution of music in the 1960s Essay
Revolution of Music Music has continued to change throughout each decade, but
the 1960s was the most influential decade in the history of music. Starting in the
early 1950s, rock music was first introduced. Major record labels were releasing new
cover songs which were originally made by black artist, but now by white artist
(Rock and Roll). These cover songs changed a few lyrics from the original songs to
avoid copyright issues and to also make the song more appropriate for the white
listeners. The biggest star of the 1950s was Elvis Presley, who was known as the
King of rock n roll .

Popular folk artist gave their own opinions on war, racism civil rights, justice, and
the establishment through their music (Holland107). The suggestion of rebellion
interested the baby boom generation. Two of the top folk artists from the 1960s were
Joan Baez and Bob Dylan. Joan Baez was referred to as a political singer/activist
and she was known as the Queen of Folk music (Joan Baez). Bob Dylan created
plenty of politically based songs that directly warned specific areas of politics, like
congressmen and senators, who wanted to stop the civil rights and peace
movements (Holland 107 108). Lastly there was the genre Motown which hit its
peak of popularity in the 1960s. It brought a new rhythm called the back beat that
was enjoyed because it was easy to dance to. Berry Gordy Jr. started the Motown
Company in 1962 and brought up artists like Smokey Robinson and the Miracles,
Little Stevie Wonder, The Jackson Five, and Diana Ross and the Supremes
(Holland 109). All of these artists are well known and still listened to today. The
racial diversity of mainstream music in the 1960s was widely spread, which is why
this was such a significant decade for music. There was a so called British invasion
that took place roughly between 1964 and 1966. British bands like the Rolling
Stones, the Kinks, the Animals, the Beatles, and many more came to America
bringing their version of rock music with a British twist (British Invasion). The
Extracurricular Activities In Schools Essay
Can being involved in extracurricular activities both inside and outside of school
help students increase their chances of doing well during school? Many people in
school, no matter what age or grade one may be in, are involved in some type of
extracurricular. Of this same group, however, some only participate due to their
guardians deciding what they will be involved in as a child. Whether it be attached
to the school they attend or not, many people aren t aware of the many positive
effects that extracurriculars may have on their own self, or their child. An integral
part of extracurriculars are the students themselves. Without the students showing if
they are able to further develop any life skills while participating in the activity, then
the teachers and coaches of the like will continue to provide a means for this activity
to take place, making everything that any student learns while partaking in this
activity useless and not worth any students time. While being involved in
extracurricular activities can help boost one s confidence in the activity they choose
to be participating in, during school the activity can also help develop an individual
s sense of learning and sense of being that they would not get the chance to
experience otherwise. One of the many important qualities that a student can develop
while in school is their personality which can evolve from participating in
extracurriculars. In the article A Dual Step Transfer Model: Sport and Non Sport
Effect of Gender Inequality on Economic Status
The subject of women and their empowerment has always been one of controversy.
Even though the United States and many other countries have made great strides in
gender equality, men and women are still not equal. Although this problem is
beginning to disappear in many countries, it was once much more significant. The
United States, a country with one of the world s smallest gendergaps, used to be one
of its worst offenders. Prior to World War 2, women were rarely seen in the
workforce with minor exceptions. As a result of the crisis, the men who traditionally
held the labor jobs joined the war effort which left the women to support their
families and the economy. During The Second World War, women played a key role
in keeping the economy afloat and keeping the military supplied. Today, the United
States is one of the countries getting closer to gender equalityand all of those are
reaping the benefits as some of the world s greatest economies. Despite the progress,
some countries such as Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia are still highly gender biased.
This is made evident by the catastrophic assault suffered by Afghanistan women on
their human rights during more than twenty years of war and the repressive rule of
the Taliban . Coincidentally, despite the progress of the past few years, Afghanistan
is extremely poor, landlocked, and highly dependent on foreign aid . This is simply a
microcosm of the pattern that can be identified around the world. This pattern can be

The Finnish School System
In 1821, the first school system was created in Boston, Massachusetts. Horace Mann,
The Father of the Common School movement, believed that a free common school
system was the best means of achieving social and economic equality through an
educational system. Finland outperforms every other school education system in the
world, while America is ranking at thirty six. If Americans can change everything
from cars, phones, and facebook, then Americans owe it to themselves to change our
schoolsystem. In the Finnish school system, children do not start school until they
reach the age of seven. Despite the fact that they start so late, they do not fall
behind in classes because they start school when their brains start to develop. In
addition to starting school in the later years of their lives, the students are not tested
in what they learn for the first six schools years. In fact, they only have one
standardized test at the age of sixteen. The size of the students in a classroom is
smaller so that the teacher may focus on each and every... Show more content on

A teacher readies students for the next step in life, yet they get paid as they make no
difference. As Prince Ea said, A doctor can reach the heart of a studentand make it to
where he lives, but a teacher can touch the heart of a student and allow him to truly
live . With that being said the career of teaching should receive the same income of a
doctor. Even though Americans may not realize it, the teachers that touch the heart of
a kid and truly care about that student can be credited to raising that student and
having an effect on their actions. Sadly, because of the way teachers are paid, most
teachers do not put all the effort into affecting the lives of their students. They treat

Analysis Of The Little Red Cap
The Little Red Cap originally told by the famous Grimm Brothers, have numerous
versions of the tale. The innocent tale we have been read to as a bedtime story
before, with an evil wold and his mischievous plan of harming little red riding hood
and her grandmother have just taken an enormous stroll. Nowadays, the tale has been
modernised and there is a vast number of different versions of it alongside the
interpretations. The versions change between their structures and narratives however
the moral of the story stays the same.
The Grimm Brothers tale Little Red Cap starts with Once upon a time there was a
dear little girl. If you set eyes on her you could not but love her. (p13) From the start
of the tale the female character is described as dear and that her character is adored
by most for the kind of person she is. She was loved by most, however, her
grandmother loved her the most of all and wanted to give her all she could The
person who loved her most of all was her grandmother, and he could never give the
child enough (p.13) This gives off a feeling as the Little Red Riding Hood loves her
grandmother very much and she would go to great lengths to make her happy.
In the Louis and Francois Briffault s version The Story of Grandmother the Little
Red Riding Hood is not described, though it is narrated through dialogues which can
allow a readers imagination work on the girls character upon her actions. The only
hint in this version to realise the Little Red Riding
Censorship In Music
Music is an expressive, vivid form of art. The influence of music has a huge impact
with every age group in the world. When people think of music they automatically
think of how it makes them feel which most of the time is good. They don t
comprehend the provocative lyrics or what the song s meaning really is. People
have become used to this insulting and offensive language found on just about any
song. Every song being released today contains some sort of graphical, sexual, or
explicit lyric. Today s graphic music encourages violence, degradation of women ,
and influences young children negatively. First of all, censoring graphic, explicit, and

Karen Dill, author of Violent rap lyrics make listeners more accepting of violence ,
states: Radio personality Don Imus referred to a college women s basketball team
as nappy headed ho s . Dill also argues, ... many responded that the racist and sexist
language was acceptable because the type of language is used by minorities in rap
music . Rap music has made their own image of what women are in their eyes and
this has caused others to treat females a certain way. Women have always been
portrayed as weak, feisty, helpless, property, and more. Females start to believe this
about themselves having low self esteem, not wanting to be in relationships, and
thinking they aren t good enough. In reality, they might not feel that way, but that s
how they are talked about in music so they believe they need to be that way.
According to the author of The public should criticize violent music lyrics, women
are objectified, often in the most obscene and degrading ways (Brownback). For
example, Wildflower by Ghostface Killah had a very set way on how they described
women. The song is full of disgusting comments towards women calling her a bitch
, stank hoe , dumb bitch , and a chickenhead hoe (Ghostface Killah). Ghostface
Killah also brings up him cheating on her and how he had sexual relations with her
while she was bleeding. The lyrics used in this song are meant to bring
Essay on Immigration To Canada
Immigration to Canada
The first immigrants to the territory now constituting Canada were from Western
Europe. The first great influx began early in the 19th century when large numbers of
Europeans left their homelands to escape the economic distress resulting from the
transformation of industry by the factory system and the concurrent shift from small
scale to large scale farming. At the same time, wars, political oppression, and
religious persecution caused a great many Europeans to seek freedom and security in
Canada.
The century following 1820 may be divided into three great periods of immigration
to Canada. During the first period, from 1820 to 1860, most of the immigrants came
from Great Britain, Ireland, and western Germany. In ... Show more content on

Thereafter the number fell in response to new conditions in Europe and to the
limitations established by U.S. law. (which were to some extent unreasonably
mimicked by Canadians eg:Chinese exclusion act)
Legislation Regulating Immigration
The first measure restricting immigration enacted by Congress was a law in 1862
forbidding American vessels to transport Chinese immigrants to Canada; 20 years
later Congress passed the Chinese Exclusion Act excluding Chinese immigrants. In
1875, 1882, and 1892, acts passed by Congress provided for the examination of
immigrants and for the exclusion from Canada of convicts, polygamists, prostitutes,
persons suffering from loathsome or contagious diseases, and persons liable to
become public charges. The Alien Contract Labor Laws of 1885, 1887, 1888, and
1891 prohibited the immigration to Canada of persons entering the country to work
under contracts made before their arrival; professional actors, artists, singers,
lecturers, educators, ministers, and personal and domestic servants were exempt from
this provision. Alien skilled laborers, under these laws, were permitted to enter
Canada to work in new industries. A diplomatic agreement made in 1907 by Canada
and Japan provided that the Japanese government would not issue passports to
Japanese laborers intending to enter Canada; under the terms of this agreement,
Canada government refrained until 1924 from enacting laws excluding Japanese
immigrants.

Bones Essay
In the past decade, network television has been bombarded by crime shows
attempting to make their mark on viewers. All of these programs CSI, Lie to Me,
Numb3rs, Law Order have the same general set up of a male lead with a hot head
who is complemented by his team of FBI agents. As a loyal viewer and fan of Bones,
I often wonder what makes it stay afloat with so many shows out there like it.
Could it be that Bones isn t like any of the other crime shows? Through its crimes
and unsolved murders, Bones helps its viewers make sense of the disastrous world
around them. The world we live in is full of danger and unsolved crime, but after
watching Dr. Brennan, her team of squints and Agent Booth solve even the most
bizarre murders, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, Nguyen also says that while the actors portray their roles very well, and it
is clear that the slight chemistry between Deschanel [Dr. Brennan] and Boreanaz
[Agent Booth] doesn t seem to be headed for any successful route, which he
obviously thinks is an old, worn out scenario. The chemistry between them is
undeniable, and as we have seen in the most recent season, Booth has accepted his
feelings for Brennan and, in the early episodes of season five, has been trying to
tell her how he feels. In the real world, many crimes remain unsolved, but in Bones
every murder is solved and the killer is brought to justice. As Letizia, the author of a
TV review entitled Bones , asserts, fans root not just for crimes to be solved, but for
[Booth and Brennan], working in tandem, to solve them. The viewer begins to trust
these two characters and think of them as real people they have let into their lives.
Another difference, pointed out by Letizia, that Bones offers is
Where an episode of CSI leaves one with the feeling that evil exists no matter what
we do about it, Bones makes the case that there is also good. Granted, truly happy
endings are rare when it comes to murder investigations, but the victims depicted in
Bones often find some sort of redemption at the end even if it simply means their
families learn what really happened to them.

Differences On Body And Tissue Weights
Results and Discussion
Body and Tissue Weights
The initial body weight of rats was similar (p value=0.19). At the end of the
experimental period, the HFFr+S rats had a near doubling of visceral fat weight,
compared to the control group (6.9В±1.1 g vs. 3.4В±0.4 g, p value=0.009), while it
was slightly and non significantly lower in the other groups, especially in the rats
gavaged with the high dose of metformin (200 mg/kg/day). After 60 days, no
significant differences were found between the groups regarding the final body
weight and liver/body weight percentage (Table 2). This suggests that the excess
energy intake of HFFr rats have led to a greater adiposity, but not to a higher body
weight.

These were not accompanied by any improvement in fasting and post challenge

In this study, HFFr diet, calcium vitamin D3 supplementation and oral gavage

levels of serum CTRP3 (also known as cartonectin, cartducin, CORS 26) was
significantly higher in the +Met200 group, compared to the other groups (except
the +CaD+Met200 group). There was no effect of HFFr diet and no additive effect of

Restriction Enzymes Lab Report
Restricting digestion in DNA
This is a commonly used technique for molecular cloning and is also used to quickly
check the identity of a plasmid. Restriction enzyme digestion uses naturally occurring
enzymes that cleave the DNA. There are many different restriction enzymes allowing
us to target a variety of DNA sequences. The materials needed include; DNA (the
amount you cut depends on your application; diagnostic digests normally includes
500ng of DNA and molecular cloning often involves 1 3Ојg of DNA. The total

To me, that meant that having a disorder or delay did not mean one was irrevocably
doomed, it meant that the authentic inner being could be nurtured and encouraged to
bloom, with the right environment.
During my first year at Lasell College, I learned about the effects of early
medication. I specifically remember watching required videos for a developmental
psychology course. The videos were about children who had been on medication for
one year to ten years and highlighted the side effects they were facing. In some cases,
the side effects were permanent. The side effects often required secondary and
tertiary medications to quell the consequential symptoms, such as ticks, from the
original medication. It seemed to me that children under the age of 10 were on
numerous medications that were snowballing into a conglomerate of repercussions
that could last a lifetime. It appeared that this method caused more stress and didn t
give children any space for either natural or therapy guided development.*
I eventually left school at Lasell and continued my college career at the University
of Southern Maine. During my time at USM, I took a creative class, Therapeutic
Touch, along with psychology courses. Therapeutic Touch is a course about energy

  • 2. William Shakespeare s The Bed I looked at Lyon laying in the bed. I knew that this was Lyon, because everyone told me so. But the boy before me with the tubes running into his nose, and the translucent skin was not the boy I knew. My Lyon was robust, overweight vibrantly healthy and possessed of a spirit that would cause him to get up from his chair and dance across the room even if he was alone. The boy before me could barely breathe. His body was nearly lost in the sheets of the bed and he didn t move. He sucked in air through a tube in his throat and the machines pushed the oxygen into him in a rhythmic tempo that was almost irritating. The machines around him hummed and made faint noises that filled the room with an ambient presence. The one closest to him beeped... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A tear fell from my cheek and struck his chin. Another tear slipped out of his eye and trailed down to the pillow. He looked at me with an intensity that finally told her that yes, this was the boy she knew as her friend; maybe more and I wrapped myself around him, tears flowing freely. I felt the chuffing of a chuckle from his throat and chest. It takes much more to kill me. I pulled myself away and looked into his eyes; now listless, dull and faded. I let out a breath and told him everything. From his own condition to the development with the Pentagon. I am not staying here while you risk everything, Lyon argued, I ll learn how to walk again. This has nothing to do with walking or the Pentagon or my own safety. I have to help Konnor and Jemima and everyone at the Rebellion. I am the only person who knows the secrets that the Pentagon has locked away. I am their key. I don t need anyone else to die. Lyon s hand grabs ahold of my arm, I don t need you to die. They re not going to kill me. How do you know? Is there any way for you to know? I keep my mouth shut. Lyon s eyes linger on me and I push his hand away, lifting myself off the bed. You are going to live, without one leg, but I want to keep it that way. You need to stay here. My voice began to rise. I began to yell at him. We were fighting. Why? Why do I need to stay behind when , Because I, I stop myself and catch my breath. I bring my voice back down and clear my throat, Because I
  • 3. The Haitian Revolution In Langston Hughes s Troubled Island Forward: Contextualizing Troubled Island The Haitian Revolution (1791 1804) is history s only successful slave revolt, and African enslaved persons managed a monumental feat on a largely insignificant island in the Caribbean under French control. Naturally, numerous persons were and are inspired by the Haitian Revolution in facets of life from aggravating social change to creating high art. The story even remains impactful without racial influence; considering, the dominated persons were long subjugated and unprepared for battle, yet they defeated a world power for their freedom. Concentrating on elevated art forms, Langston Hughes (1902 1967) wrote the libretto Troubled Island grounded in the Haitian Revolution s aftermath and Haiti coming into its own as a nation. By following the revolution s leader Jean Jacques Dessalines, Troubled Island stresses Haiti s need to cope with the tribulations of banding together and organizing an emerging nation. Moreover, the libretto highlights intraracism among the Haitians following independence, including France s cultural influence continuing to divide Haitians. Nevertheless, Troubled Island is not a total retelling of actual, historical events, for persons creating a show often alter or add events to fit the operatic stage and emphasizes significant themes. Fundamentally, William Grant Still (1895 1978) composed the music and Langston Hughes wrote the libretto for Troubled Island. In 1931, Hughes briefly visited Haiti,

  • 5. The Fantasy Story Today I #8217;d like to tell you about fantasy literature. It is very hard to tell all about it but I #8217;ll try to do it as good as possible and not being boring. First fantasy motifs were shown in romanticism. We all know the mystical and unreal characters: ghosts, phantoms etc. Authors for building the special mood and charm of that epoch used that figures. But fantasy is something more than romantic ways of showing nature or inner experiences of the main character in the novel. It #8217;s also not an attempt of explaining the unreal and difficult to understand visions or event. In the course of time it began to live it #8217;s own life more and more the writers started to use these motifs. And what had happened? They created ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But one day, after many happy years on the throne, they got lost in a forest. While walking the trees became coats and they suddenly fell out of the closet. Long years in Narnia were just few minutes in the human world. Children have big imagination so crossing the line between fantasies and real is not a problem, but it is a big challenge for readers. Lewis created the magic land and as he once said: #8221;even if all of that is imagined #8211; trees, grass, sun, moon, stars and Aslan, there is no doubt: this imagined world is much better then the real one #8221;. The next kinds, beloved by fantasy fans are #8220;never lands #8221;. They are perfectly defined by one of first never lands creators Lord Dunsany. He named it as places #8220;beyond the fields we know #8221;. And we are really crossing the line of human perception. Authors don #8217;t blink their eye, don #8217;t pretend like in the Venice carnival. Not everything is from the beginning land of fantasy. Tolkien made never lands legal, gave them autonomy and independence, full rights in authors imagination. He said that artistic imagination has no borders and cannot be restricted by what is real. We can see what we want to see, also the land of never. Never lands can use the cultural heritage of our world, but it all depends on the author. Of course playing in never lands must be based on understanding and agreement between writer and reader, we have to accept all the rules and it

  • 7. Edgar Allan Poe s Leathery Streaks of shimmering sunlight filtered through a golden canopy of trees, casting elegant shadows to dance across the mossy verdure. The lush grass was invested with thriving insects that swarmed on the ground like an overcrowded marketplace. The crickets made a harmonious song that echoed throughout the forest, almost in sync with the repetitive calls of exotic animals that were crawling through shrubbery and soaring high in the leafy giants. Leathery leaves brushed against each other in the feeble breeze, almost as if they were whispering in hushed tones whilst squirrels ran and frolicked in the bushes. A balmy smell lingered in the humid air, mixing with the scent of damp earth. Flowers were dotted across the luscious forest floor; their enticing fragrance leaving an odd taste in their wake. Vines twisted up the trees, reaching magnificent heights though some hung down like curtains, hiding parts of the forest away in darkness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Soon enough, water was cascading from the heavens in a torrent of rain, teaming up with the howl of wind that weaved through the clattering oaks. Monkeys darted in and out of the treetops, trying to find the best place to take shelter. The raindrops fell heavily, hitting the trees with such force that many leaves had also began to flake

  • 10. Ski Bum Is Meaningful Essay Finding Meaning in the Otherwise Meaningless Considering how hollow the promise of a corporate career has become, declares Jackson Hogen, an author at SKI Magazine, who can say the ski bum is not the wiser investor in his or her youth? In a world driven by economic success, societal recognition, and temporal materials, people can be too easily lead away from their passions to lead a miserable life. Why is the ski bum so happy? A ski bum lives his or her life working long and seemingly meaningless hours making barely minimum wage, in order to ski as much as possible. However, it only takes one trip to the ski hill to see the happiness radiating off of these people. The reason ski bums are so happy is because they live their lives doing the things they love most in the places they love most. Not everyone has the opportunity to take a break from life to become a ski bum, but embracing their lifestyle and focusing on the little things that bring true happiness can greatly enhance the overall quality of a person s life. ... At an age with so much passion and determination to make something out of one s self, shouldn t we be encouraging kids to follow their passion and do what they love? After being told over and over that a college degree is the only key to success, young adults feel obligated to attend a university, and consequently pursue a lifestyle they have not chosen for themselves. If college is not one s goal, is it wrong to postpone that step in life, or even ultimately choose to opt out of college? Is it wrong to experience the world before deciding the future role that one will hold in that world? I am not suggesting that college is not for everyone, I am rather raising a point that is too often overlooked as kids contemplate their first steps into the real

There are numerous potentially responsible parties (PRPs) that date back to over a hundred years of contamination that includes a smorgasbord of pollutants. There are endangered species act (ESA) concerns and the area is culturally noteworthy to six Native American tribes. Portland Harbor is located along the Willamette River and has an extensive history of commercial, shipping, and industrial activities. There are also significant amounts of natural and cultural resources. In 1997, a mutual study conducted by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) revealed that sediments in the harbor were contaminated with DDT, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), petroleum, and pesticides. Upon the discovery of this data, in 2000, the EPA established Portland Harbor as a Superfundsite. The EPA purposed a list of Potentially Responsible Parties (PRPs) in August of 2011 called the Lower Willamette Group. The... The way this works is by allowing the tendons to cure in the concrete. After it has cured the tendons are released and the tension is applied. The analysis for continuous prestressed composite beamcovers: load deflection behavior, strain and stress in concreteslab and steel beam, force in shear connector, slipping between concrete and steel, and failure modes. • 18. Use Of Forecasting Techniques For The Graduate Tuition... This paper seeks to examine the use of forecasting techniques as it applies to the graduate tuition rate at James Madison University. While several methods and techniques of forecasting could have been used, I focused primarily on the Least Squares Regression technique, as it relates to projections, to project the rates for the next ten years. Projected rates were slightly comparable to actual rates, though, other techniques are not assumed to reduce the error of projected graduate tuition rates. James Madison University is a comprehensive university in the Shenandoah Valley of Harrisonburg Rockingham County, Virginia. Since it s start in 1954, the graduate school has focused its efforts on the education of its students at a reasonable cost. Although tuition has risen over the years, it can be assumed that this is possibly due to the rising costs of operation. In recent years, 2009 2014, the cost has increased by 34% ($305 to $410) for in state students. Similarly, there has been an increase in out of state tuition by more than 20% ($890 $1095) since 2009. Due to the rate increases over the past five years, I project that the cost will continue to rise over the years. The aim of our forecasting is to provide information about possible future changes in tuition rates. In general, the three approaches to forecasting, projection, prediction, and conjecture, all seek to produce information about future trends we expect to examine in society; however, they do so in various
  • 19. Coastal Migration of the Clovis People to the Americas According to the standard accepted theory, the Clovis people were the first inhabitants of the Americas. The Clovis people crossed the Beringia land bridge during the period of the last ice age, from there they spread across the Americas through an ice free corridor. However, recent finding have suggested that the first people did not walk to America but came by boat. This paper will examine evidence found in Haida Gwaii and other sites along North and South America that supports a different view of human migration to the Americas, the coastal migration theory. The peopling of the Americas was the last great human migration, the final leg of our journey out of Africa (Bawaya, M. How the west was won). Precisely how and when this migration occurred is presently up for debate. Accepted archaeological wisdom stated by Hetherington suggests that the first Americans were large game hunters who migrated from northeast Asia across the Beringian land bridge ca. 12000 years BP, spreading southward through a continental ice free corridor (R. Hetherington et al.). Gugliotta says that archaeologists called these pioneers the Clovis, after distinctive stone tools that were found at sites near Clovis, New Mexico, in 1929 (Gugliotta, The first Americans). In recent years, the Clovis migration model has been challenged by a wide range of discoveries (Hadingham, E. America s First Immigrants). For one, Hadingham says that, the latest studies show that the ice free corridor

Mentally, the overuse of cellphones has been seen to result into problems like social anxiety, insomnia, and among students the inability to fully concentrate on academics (Acharya, et al., 2013). A recent study done at Baylor and Seton Hall universities evaluated cellphone, text messaging and instant messaging among students. This study showed that the average college student checks their cellphone about 60 times a day, spends an average of 9 hours on their phones everyday sends and gets text messages about 109.5 times a day (Roberts Pirog, 2013). These rates are alarming and could lead to lack of concentration in academics. The lack of concentration as a result of cellphone overuse among students leads to things like procrastination as a result of them not knowing what to focus on for readings, assignments, and essays. This could in turn lead to poor academic performance and frustration as a result of them not knowing how

Genesis 3 is about Adam s sin, the first sin; disobeying the Lord caused the fall of man. Genesis 11 is about Nimrod s sin. Nimrod was the first ruler in the land of Shinar (Gen 10.10). Men, migrating east, settled in Shinar and planned to construct a tower so tall, that it would reach the sky because this would make a name for [themselves] (Gen. 11.4). When the Lord noticed this tower, he scattered them . . . all over the earth, as well as [confusing] the speech of all the world (Gen. 11.8 9). I agree with V. Stanley Benfell; Nimrod s sin, resulting in the fall of the language, is similar to the first sin that caused the fall of man. Sins in the Hebrew Bible To start with, the first man, Adam, is responsible for the original sin. Genesis 3 introduces the last creature the Lord made, the serpent (Everts 253). Though not clarified in Genesis 3, Revelations 12:9 considers the serpent to be the devil. The serpent tempts the first woman, Eve, to disobey the Lord. The serpent chooses Eve instead of Adam, because she is easier to manipulate (Everts 254). The Lord had allowed Adam and Eve to eat from any tree, except from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (Genesis 2.16 17). Eve gave the fruit from the forbidden tree to Adam (Genesis 3.6). When the Lord discovered that the two humans had eaten the fruit he forbade them from eating, he made the serpent eat only dust, made

  • 30. The Four Major Components Of The Communication- Persuasive... The communication persuasion paradigm has four major facets, which include the sender, message, target, and effect. The sender is a critical component of the communication persuasion paradigm in the sense that a persuasive communication process depends, in part, on the characteristics of the sender (Jowett, O donnell, 2014). People place expectations on others based on a range of factors, which can be social, political, economic, professional, and moral. As such, there are people who can be described as famous or trendsetters on the mentioned grounds. The persuasiveness of a piece of information is determined by the level of fame or respect that the sender of such a message enjoys among a group of people (Dubois, Rucker, Galinsky,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, a message about delivering the selves from the oppression of a regime presented without many facts are highly persuasive when the target is the oppressed population. Generally, the levels of reasoning of the target and his or her abilities in understanding the information and any possible consequences are important in achieving the outcome. The target is important because he or she is the one generating feedback, which is crucial in understanding whether the message reached the right person as intended. Additionally, it is significant because it is useful in assessing the effects of the communicated information. Lastly, the persuasiveness of a communication process depends on the effects it has caused (Jowett, O donnell, 2014). The effect is evaluated in light of the changes that are observed since the communication was made and the feedback that has been provided by the receiver. For example, the percentages of voter turnout in a certain area when their political kingpin advises them not to participate in voting. The effectiveness of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in persuading people, particularly the African Americans was a factor of him as a trendsetter source, the appealing nature of the contents of his messages, and the carefully selected intended targets (Arceneaux, Johnson, Cryderman,

In Desert Places , When my love swears she is made of truth , and One Art , the author s use connotative diction to weaken the severity of their personal issues. Robert Frost s poem Desert Places diminishes an overall sense of emptiness to being nothing compared to what he holds within himself through the use of connotative diction. Throughout the poem, the description of a cold, dark night represents the intensity of the depression that Frost was feeling. In the final stanza, Frost reveals that I have it in me so much nearer home, To scare myself with my own desert places , it being the darkness previously mentioned in the poem. Furthermore, the desert places introduced in the final line are a representation of the dark emotions Frost was experiencing, and to state that they were within him, provide the sense that he did not express them to other people, meaning he chose to be left with a cold, dark state of mind. Overall, Desert Places is deemed as Frost s admittance to not fearing the troubles of the rest of the world, because they could not cause him any greater pain that what his own troubles already have. As a result of facing constant loss, writing about emptiness allowed Frost the ability to express the solidarity he felt within himself. With the experiences that Frost had endured throughout his life, he is described as having suffered more than the normal amount of tragedy , however, he also showed more than the usual amount of determination and courage (Bailey).

In When Blood and Bones Cry Out: Journeys through the soundscape of healing and reconciliation (2010), John Paul Lederach, together with his daughter Angela Jill, study the use of metaphors from sound to foster new pathways of conflict transformation and healing. They ask the question how do people express and then heal from violations that so destroy the essence of innocence, decency and life itself that the very experience penetrates beyond comprehension and words? (2010, p. 17). In the Lederach s perspective, aural properties found in music, poetry, story telling and creative dance, with their regard for repetition and capacity to resonate diverse sounds, offer alternative facets for conflict transformation and broadminded dialogue. These ideas, linked with aural and sonic metaphors, give voice and soundto societies needing to express the atrocities incurred at the hand of violence. The United States, a country with one of the world s smallest gendergaps, used to be one of its worst offenders. Prior to World War 2, women were rarely seen in the workforce with minor exceptions. As a result of the crisis, the men who traditionally held the labor jobs joined the war effort which left the women to support their families and the economy. During The Second World War, women played a key role in keeping the economy afloat and keeping the military supplied. Today, the United States is one of the countries getting closer to gender equalityand all of those are reaping the benefits as some of the world s greatest economies. Despite the progress, some countries such as Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia are still highly gender biased. This is made evident by the catastrophic assault suffered by Afghanistan women on their human rights during more than twenty years of war and the repressive rule of the Taliban . • 50. I Have A Career Centered On Children I have always planned to have a career centered on children. I know I could give meaning and fulfillment to the lives of children to dispel any thoughts that they could not succeed. My belief that each child is capable of a multitude of tasks with practice and adaptation was the deciding factor for eliminating careers I did not want to pursue. After years of working with children who have disabilities in different settings, I learned Pediatric Occupational Therapywas the best fit for me. The work of an OT includes the ability to capitalize on each childs strengths, encouraging the best outcome for a healthy thriving child and later a jovial, independent, prosperous adult. There is nothing more effective to ensure the future of a *better... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To me, that meant that having a disorder or delay did not mean one was irrevocably doomed, it meant that the authentic inner being could be nurtured and encouraged to bloom, with the right environment. During my first year at Lasell College, I learned about the effects of early medication. I specifically remember watching required videos for a developmental psychology course. The videos were about children who had been on medication for one year to ten years and highlighted the side effects they were facing. In some cases, the side effects were permanent. The side effects often required secondary and tertiary medications to quell the consequential symptoms, such as ticks, from the original medication. It seemed to me that children under the age of 10 were on numerous medications that were snowballing into a conglomerate of repercussions that could last a lifetime. It appeared that this method caused more stress and didn t give children any space for either natural or therapy guided development.* I eventually left school at Lasell and continued my college career at the University of Southern Maine. During my time at USM, I took a creative class, Therapeutic Touch, along with psychology courses. Therapeutic Touch is a course about energy work, chakras, and using color and intentions to heal. One of the required books for the class explained the

B: Hyeonseo Lee proved she was a true survivor by escaping from North Korea, but returning to save her family. Aron Ralston displayed traits of a survivor when his arm was pinned to a crevice wall in Blue John Canyon, yet he never stops conceiving new ideas on how to escape. • 53. Deep Ocean Deforestation 1. The extraction of oil is disruptive to the environment and can destroy natural habitats. 2. Another reason is the fact that deep sea drilling has the potential of exploding, leaking or spilling oil into the ocean. Accidents while transporting oil may also dump oil into the sea. 3. The seismic noise made from the deep sea drilling can disorient whales and other marine mammals, causing them to beach themselves. The death of whales is not only sad, but can also impact the delicate web of marine life. 1. Surface mining of coal causes direct and indirect damage to wildlife. Acid rain causes many problems such as dead trees and acidified lakes with dead fish. a) No! b) In many remote parts of the world, indigenous communities still exist and gold mining may disrupt their lives. Large gold mining companies will often secure land deals from the local governments, and in this process eject, often violently, the local indigenous population. Governments in these regions have been known to kill indigenous people for refusing to leave areas that have been sold to gold mining companies. c) Finally In the gold mining process, land must be cleared for mining. Clear cutting trees disrupts local ecosystems, causing animals to flee the area or perish. Also, when the chemicals used in gold mining make their way into the soil and the water, they disrupt the local wildlife by poisoning their sources of food and water. It is not unusual in gold mining for toxic chemicals to be simply dumped into local
