1. Developing Countries Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of developing countries can be quite challenging due to the vast
and complex nature of the subject matter. Developing countries encompass a wide range of
economic, social, and political issues, making it difficult to cover all aspects comprehensively
within the constraints of an essay.
One major difficulty lies in the need to strike a balance between providing a broad overview of
the challenges faced by developing nations and delving into specific examples and case studies.
The essay must navigate through the intricate web of issues such as poverty, inequality,
healthcare, education, infrastructure, and governance, requiring careful research and analysis to
present a nuanced perspective.
Furthermore, the dynamic nature of global development adds another layer of complexity. As
circumstances change, so do the challenges faced by developing countries. Staying up-to-date
with the latest developments and incorporating current data into the essay can be demanding,
but it is crucial for the essay's relevance and accuracy.
Crafting a well-structured and coherent essay also poses its own set of challenges. Ensuring a
logical flow of ideas, providing sufficient evidence to support arguments, and maintaining a
clear and concise writing style require careful attention to detail and ample time for revision.
In conclusion, writing an essay on developing countries demands thorough research, a deep
understanding of global issues, and the ability to synthesize complex information. It requires a
writer's commitment to addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by developing nations
while maintaining clarity and coherence in their presentation. While daunting, the process is
rewarding as it allows for a deeper understanding of the intricate issues shaping the world today.

2. Understanding The Hidden Layers And Complexities That
Lie...
II. CASE STUDY ANALYSIS:
1.
2.According to Cloke and Goldsmith (2011), one way of understanding the hidden
layers and complexities that lie beneath the surface of our conflicts is by using the
metaphor of the iceberg (p. 66). Just like an iceberg, there are layers in conflicts.
What we see is only a portion of what is happening. Below the water line, is much
more. In fact, the portion that we see on the surface is the current issue at hand. The
issue is usually easy to observe. On the other hand, there is always things that is
happening under the surface. They are usually less easy to point out. Beneath the
surface, there are personalities. People behave, communicate, and get things done in
different ways. After, there is emotions. To reach the best resolution we can, each
party in a conflict should be true about their emotions by bringing empathy into the
picture. Next, there is interests, needs, and desires. This is where each party should
be curious. It is important to ask questions in order to find out the needs and
concerns behind people s action. Also, self perceptions and self esteem. In the
iceberg of conflict, there are hidden expectations. Here is when the conflicting
parties should use their active listening skills to figure out the missing links. They
should listen and try to understand the other party perspectives. Lastly, there is
unresolved issues from the past. Keeping an open mind is critical in this stage. If
you are still angry, it is wise to calm

Akeelah and the Bee April 20, 2012 Identifying Information Akeelah is an eleven
year old African American girl who lives in South Los Angeles being raised by her
mother, Tanya, who father was killed when she was six years old. She is attending
Crenshaw Middle School. She has three siblings and a niece and her mother works
long hours to have extra money to support her family. Akeelah is a very smart an
intelligent girl who loves to study and learn words. Presenting Problem Akeelah is

One psychologist, Urie Bronfenbrenner states the ecological approach to human
behavior deals with a growing human being and his or her environment which
progress a mutual accommodation throughout the course of Life (Bronfenbrenner
1979). Goodness of fit is a reciprocal process that can result in a god fit when there
is a good match between an individual and his environment or a poor fit when the
match between an individual and environment is poor (Greene 1999). My
assumption is that before Akeelah s the death Akeelah s father, there was a
goodness of fit in their family. Her mother could have always been home with her
children, her oldest brother Devon was home, her other brother, Terrence, was not
under bad influence, and her sister, Kiana s, life would not be broken. They
supposedly had a happy family, good relationships with each other and mutual
respect. After Akeelah s father died, she relocated from a good fit to a poor fit
where the match between her and her environment is different. Akeelah s mother
started to work longer hours as a nurse in a hospital to survive and care for her
children as she continues to stress about her life. Akeelah s life is not going easy
because the impact of the loss of a parent for Akeelah and her family is
underestimated. When a person has to cope with a parent dying can stir fears of a
loss self (Walsh amp; McGoldrick 1995). Children who
4. A Life Worth Remembering
A Life Worth Remembering Significance can be defined as being worthy of
attention, and in a world filled to the brim with more than seven billion people, it
can be difficult to decipher who is actually worthy. There are many different
qualities and aspects to look at, and there may be a lot of controversy surrounding
the topic, depending upon who is determining the significance; there is no
questioning the fact that individuals come with varying opinions and in response
to this, it can be very challenging in choosing who is worthy of attention. In
addition, it also raises the question of what the qualities are that signify importance
to the world. In today s world, these qualities are very mixed and significance
comes in many differing categories. A specific category that comes into play is
centered around individuals who have made a difference in the world of music.
Music carries a lot of weight due to the gift it gives to the world; especially today,
many people use music as an outlet, as something that keeps them going, as
something to make everything wrong, right again. There are many different genres
and with each genre comes specific names that hold significance. An exceptional
example of this would be a woman who made a name for herself in jazz music, a
woman by the name of Ella Fitzgerald. Ella Fitzgerald was born on April 25th in
1917 in the state of Virginia. Shortly after her birth, her father passed away and with
her mother, she moved to New York. It was
5. An Age of Reason, An Age of Passion Essay
An Age of Reason, An Age of Passion
The period following the Renaissance focused the human attention toward the beauty
of nature. It was man s turn to be part of the nature and not the other way around.
The term picturesque or compared to a picture as Michael Woods defines it defines
new characteristics of the art from this period.
This period, An Age of Reason, An Age of Passion
, had a dual nature rational,
responsive to reason, but also anti rational, responsive to emotion.
Making one s way through the intellectual history of the seventeenth and eighteenth
centuries, one must be aware of the shifting meaning of such words as rationalism,

Taste became a value above morality (Stewart et. al., 156). Rococo main themes
focused on leisure, love, and fashion. These themes and the dramatic verve of
Rubens gave way to the lyrical tone of Rubens great followers, Jean Antoine Watteau
(1684 1721), Frangois Boucher (1703 1770), and Jean Honor6 Fragonard (1732
1804), the outstanding masters of three generations of Rococo painting in France
(Stewart et al., 156).
When it comes to Fragonard and his paintings, I have to mention that he is one of my
favorite painters. Paintings like The Swing (1766), A Young Girl Reading (1776),
The Study (1769), The Lover Crowned (1771 73), The Meeting (1771 73) and so
many more hold a special magic for me. Every time I look at his paintings, it is like
looking at a magic world. It is more like a dream world, or like an old fashioned story
that never loses its charm for a child s ears. Because of
Fragonard s talent, I can also listen to his magic stories: a stolen kiss, a flirtation
giggle, the sound of the wind browsing through a lovely garden with a magic swing.
From this period, although not a Rococo artist, we have to mention Jean Baptiste
Chardin (1699 1779). While his contemporaries painted their high style works of the
upstairs aristocratic life, Chardin painted the downstairs (Stewart et. al., 160): kitchen
or pantry copper pots, earthenware jugs, and raw food.

food and beverages to children of legal age to attend school? Yes there are rules that
govern the selling of beverages and food in public schools that are influenced by
laws at the following authorities to include federal, state, and local levels. The
National SchoolLunchProgram ( NSLP ) is the federal law that deals with food and
beverages in the public school system. (Econedlink, 2014, pp.1 5). It has certain

companies are given a fine. It is very rare and happen on an occasion but someone
can be incarcerated. Also the FTC has the authority to make advertiser to show that
their claims are true. Test prove or physicians recommended stated by the advertiser

affected businesses but also on the notion that an informed citizenry will expect such
compliance. For instance, in a widely publicized 2011 effort to address the problem

7. Marijuana Use For Medical And Recreational Purposes
The history of marijuana use goes back thousands of years. Marijuana is a potent,
mind altering substance derived from the Cannabis plant. It has been used for both
medical and recreational purposes. It is a Schedule 1 drug or a controlled substance
under federal law in the United States, which means it is an illegal drug. According to
the National Institute of Drug Abuse Center (2014), marijuana is the number one
most commonly used substance among adolescents and synthetic marijuana is
second, which has a severe concern on health (NIDAC, 2014). Research on

about effectiveness of marijuana use for chronic pain, improve appetite, spasticity,

which makes people feels high

10. Relationship Between Fertility Rates and Education...
Introduction
It has come to our attention that in developed countries the birth rate has been
decreasing with the years. This trend is however not limited to developed countries
but is also present in emerging countries, like Mexico. One of the main reasons for
this decline is said to be the postponement of marriage among young people.
Obtaining a higher education could lead young women to remain unmarried in their
twenties. Increasing possibilities to achieve a higher education and therefore working
in an appealing job has become increasingly attractive to young women. This change
in values also contributed to the increase in unmarried singles in their twenties.
However, it is also possible that the influence of one s family ... Show more content

Rates above two children indicate populations are growing in size and the median
age is declining. Higher rates may also indicate difficulties for families, in some
situations, to feed and educate their children and for women to enter the labor force.
Rates below two children indicate populations are decreasing in size and growing
older. Global fertility rates are in general declining and this trend is mostly
predominant in industrialized countries, especially Western Europe, where
populations are projected to decline dramatically over the next 50 years.
Description of the Procedures Used
The purpose of this section is to describe the course of action of the study and to
specify the steps taken.
In order to answer the research question in an appropriate way, it was first needed to
do intensive research in the internet in order to obtain relevant data. The pages
consulted were INEGI and Index Mundi. On these pages it was possible to collect
data regarding the birth rate, the fertility rate and the level of education. The next
step was to convert the data into tables and graphs, describe them and to provide
some background information in order to make the data clearer. Furthermore, one
can already see at first sight how the fertility rate and level of education are
developing at first sight.
In order to tackle the question (Whether there is a relation between the increase in the
level of education and the decline in the

The Middle East is a beautiful region it consists of Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Oman, Saudi
Arabia, Syria, Turkey, and Yemen. There are many things about the Middle East
that is so intriguing, but in this paper I am only going to focus on religion in the
Middle East. The Middle East is an extremely diverse region in so many ways,
culture, language, literature, art, etc., but most of all it is diverse because of its
religions. There are hundreds of religions but the three religions that make up the
foundation of religion in the Middle East; Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. The three
major religions in the Middle East are Islam, Christianity, and Judaism; those who

Christianity and Islam both grew from the teachings of Judaism, Christianity, most

Christianity was born from within the Jewish community and tradition. Hundreds
of years later, Islam developed in the same region, drawing from both Christianity
and Judaism (The Holy Land: Birthplace of Three Religious Traditions). The
patriarch Abraham gives a certain importance to all three of the religions, each
religion sees Abraham as something different; the Jews see him as the forefather
of the Jewish people, the importance of Abraham to the Christians is more
theological than genealogical, meaning Abraham is more of a God and religious
belief rather than a line of descent traced from an ancestor. All three faiths give
particular importance to the patriarch Abraham. For Jews, Abraham is not only he
who first expounded the faith, but also the forefather of the Jewish people,
through his son by Sarah, Isaac. For Christians, Abraham s importance is more
theological than genealogical (The Holy Land: Birthplace of Three Religious
Traditions). Muslims see Abraham as a prophet that carries God s message and is
the builder of the Ka ba, which is the sacred structure that is the geographical center
of Islam on earth and is located in Mecca. For Muslims, Abraham is both an
important prophet carrying God s message and the builder of the Ka ba, the sacred

13. Loan Of Bonds And Preferred Stocks Are Considered...
Q2: Owners of bonds and preferred stocks are considered primarily creditors of a
business. However, in some instances they also have the capability of becoming
corporate owners.
a.)Converting debt to stock equity
Convertible debt is a form of security, which in most cases issued to start ups at the
time of raising capital. The seed investor is given a promissory note that contains a
conversion feature (Kimmel Weygandt 2007). The conversion feature contains a
mechanism in which the debt can be converted into equity at a later date. There are
several instances when the debt issued to a company by an investor can be converted
into equity. Some of them include;

These triggers can be an event or a set of events, a revenue threshold, a business
milestone or any other financing threshold. Mostly a financing event is the most
preferred one.
b.)Differences between preferred stock and bonds.
A preferred stock is a form of special equity ownership. They are commonly
considered a form of investment that occurs somewhere between common shares and
bonds. Bonds, on the other hand, are a form of the debt issue. Despite the two
having numerous similarities, preferred stock has a tendency to be riskier than
bonds, but they attract higher yields (Kimmel Weygandt 2007). In an instance a
company has gone bankrupt bonds take preference over preferred stock when
receiving payments from liquidation process. To protect from market anxiety that
come with bonds and preferred stock it is advisable that they invest in convertible
securities. Convertible securities can provide income like a bond, have potential for
growth based on the conversion option. Investing in such is a sure way that an
investor will not lose their investments in a volatile risk.
c.)Advantages of Tax exempt bonds to both issuer and holder
Tax exempt bonds offer great advantages to both the bond issuer and bondholder.
For the bondholder:
Keep most of interest income the main advantage of tax exempt bonds is that the
investor gets to keep most the returns due to the exemption. The fact is that one does
not have to pay tax on the interest income (Melville, 2013).

14. Dbq Political Campaign
From the perspective of a candidate, the main goal of a political campaign is to win
votes. Politicians use campaign propaganda to help achieve that goal. There are six
primary strategies used in campaign propaganda: stacking the deck; testimonials
/endorsements; plain folks; negative ads; glittering generalities; and guilt by
association/coat tailing. A campaign is measured by its effectiveness, whether it is
informative, and if it is ethical. An effective campaign wins votes; an informative
campaign gets the message out to the voters; and an ethical campaign respects the
opponent and is truthful (Campaign Propaganda Mini Q). Using these measuring
sticks to evaluate the six strategies, the most valuable (in order of strength) are:

Bush campaigned against Michael Dukakis in the 1988 presidential election
(Document D). Bush used negative ads to influence voters into believing Dukakis, if
elected, would make the country weak in defense based on his voting patterns. Bush
wanted voters to mistrust Dukakis so he could win the election. Dukakis failed to
effectively counter Bush s negative attacks. Consequently, the negative ad strategy
worked in his favor, as Bush became the 41st President of the United States.
However, using the measuring sticks as a gauge, the strategy was not ethical as it was
not completely honest and was disrespectful. Similarly, during the 1992 presidential
election, Bill Clinton used the same strategy to defeat his opponent, the incumbent
George H.W. Bush (Document D). Clinton used ads that sent a message that Bush
could not be trusted because he promised no new taxes, but then raised taxes. Using
the measuring sticks, this strategy was effective as Clinton was elected over Bush;
however, Clinton was not completely honest and was disrespectful to his opponent. In
the 2012 presidential election, the incumbent Barack Obama campaigned against Mitt
Romney (Document E). Both candidates used glittering generalities to appeal to
voter s emotions. Obama used Hope and Forward and Romney used Believe in
America. Neither of these catch phrases were informative as they did not provide any
real information to the voters. While the strategy may

As Senior NCO?s we need to come up with ways to help fix the awards process to
make it fair and based on merit not rank or position.
According to ?AR 600 8 22 / 25 June 2015 para 3 1 c: The decision to award an
individual a decoration and the decision as to which award is appropriate are both
subjective decisions made by the commander having award approval authority.
Awards for meritorious achievement or service will not be based upon the grade of
the intended recipient. Rather, the award should reflect both the individual?s level of
responsibility and his or her manner of performance. The degree to which an
individual?s achievement or service enhanced the readiness or effectiveness of his or
her organization will be the leading factor?.
I think the AR 600 8 22 is very clear on the guidance for awards and we need to
change the way awards are written and ensure the commander knows and understands
the process.
My Personal Frustration with the Awards Process

The 2009 Chrysler Fiat Strategic Alliance (Teaching Note copyright Syed Tariq

Chrysler Fiat strategic alliance, its current issues, and future viability in the global
auto industry. The new landscape of the American auto industry and the role of
Fiat is analyzed in the cross border tie up. After de merging with Daimler in 2007,
Chrysler did not do well because of the 2008 2009 global financial crisis and its
bankruptcy filing. Chrysler s other problems included its financial constraints and
heightened competition in North America. The company had no choice but to look
for a partner. During this process, Chrysler explored the possibility of a tie up... Show

This is also attributed to the auto industry s consolidation, restructuring, and cost
cutting activities. Chrysler and Fiat ended up seeking an alliance because of their
compatibility, product portfolios, and markets. In Chrysler s case, the main
motive was to seek a partner who could help strengthen its financial problem
regarding new technologies, markets, and quality standards. Chrysler did very
well after its 1980 s reorganization and introduced many new models. In 2008 2009,
Chrysler suffered because of the global financial crisis and weakened demand in
the auto industry. Before filing for Chapter 11 in 2009, the only alternative
Chrysler had was to seek a partner. As of May 2009, Chrysler Fiat Strategic Alliance
looks feasible. At the same time, cross border alliances are difficult to succeed
because of differences in corporate cultures, ownership issues, regulatory barriers,
and labor unions. As discussed in the case, Marchionne may become the CEO of
Chrysler if Fiat raises its stake in the company. According to analysts, the Chrysler

18. Art Spiegelman Analysis
Throughout time, the world and its history has seen the ravages of a superiority
complex based upon a certain race or religion deeming themselves better than
everyone else. No one war, race or religion has ever come out on top nor has anyone
been entirely unaffected by the oppression this superiority complex has caused.
Maus is a graphic novel by American cartoonist Art Spiegelman. It shows Spiegelman
conversing with and recording what his father says about what he lived through
being a Polish Jew and Holocaust survivor. The graphic novel uses postmodern
techniques in its representation of races of humans as diverse animals: the Jews are
characterized as mice, the German soldiers as cats, and the non Jewish Poles are
seen as pigs. Maus can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spiegelman s father was treated inhumanely because of his religion while
Washington was treated unfairly due to the color of his skin. Both men wrote
about what happened and how they chose to rise above their persecution and the
injustice of how they are being treated instead of being walked all over. Vladek
says in the book, The fat from the burning bodies they scooped and poured again so
everyone could burn better. (Spiegelman, Book 2, pg. 62) This scene shows the Nazi
brutality towards the treatment of the Jewish race. The Nazis torture the Jews,
treating them like animals. They strip them of any semblance of their humanity, even
in death. They burned the bodies disrespectfully, and then took what was left to burn
the others. Each account of these authors harsh lives is about something that they
cannot control being hated for: color of skin and religious choice. Both authors use
their past experiences to show how racism and religious persecution affect a person
long after the fact. While reading Maus, the reader moves through several different
time periods: the pre Holocaust, the actual Holocaust, and the post Holocaust. Maus
interweaves the past and present, the different subject histories of each character, and
the very different cultural contexts of a Nazi occupied Poland versus Rego Park,

Government surveillance may be helpful when it comes to catching criminals and

Government surveillance takes this away without the knowledge or the consent of
the innocent victims.

to rob the rights of its own citizens by force?

The elites in China, the Byzantine Empire and Mesoamerica all had power that
exercised influence in society during the Post classical Era. In China, some of the
impacts the emperors left were establishment of the Grand Canal, an increase in
transportation/communications, and the creation of the equal field system. Also in
the Byzantine Empire the different rulers enjoyed the libraries, museums, and
treasures all existing in the new capital Constantinople and much more. In
Mesoamerica during the different empires, the various warriors and ruling elites were

The Mexica thrived on a tributary system made for the elite and powerful warriors
that dominated the society. The Mexica arrived in central Mexico during the middle
of the thirteenth century. The main objective of the tributary system was for subject
people to receive high quality items. These people received textiles, rabbit fur
blankets, jewelry and much more because of their statue in society. Ruling elites
entrusted some of these items to officially recognized merchants, who took them to
distant lands and exchanged them for local products. The ruling elites unlike many
imperial states in the eastern hemisphere had no elaborate bureaucracy or admiration
of which they followed. Standing armies were also only assembled when they
launched campaigns of expansion or mounted punitive expeditions against
insubordinate subjects. Nevertheless, the Mexica had a strong reputation for their
military prowess. The Mexica showered wealth and honors on the military elite.
Accomplished warriors received enormous amounts of land while the most

PHIL 3135 Philosophy of Technology Paper #1In Questioning Technology, Andrew
Feenberg focuses on the implicitly social aspects of technology that are often ignored.
In rebutting the deterministic approach to technology and adapting the constructivist
approach he explores the ways that our interactions with technologyperpetually and
dynamically affect the route to progress that technologies take. Furthermore, he
explores the democratization that takes place when imbalanced hierarchies are forged
because of technocratically governed systems. Lastly, he explores the reflexive
effects that such technologies can have on society. Repeatedly, Feenberg shows us
the intertwinement of society and technology is inescapable, aligning many of his
viewpoints... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such an ideology would suggest unbridled technological advancement and that
interference through regulation risks slowing progress to a halt. Feenberg points out
child labor as such an example of Laissez faire regulation by governments meant to
promote a disinflationary policies and thus prop up a steady economy. A
misunderstanding on behalf of biased factory owners and economists, so called
insiders , ignored the restriction on development that hindered the potential of this
entire population group. The need of an outsider perspective was needed, combatting
the interest of the overrepresented ideologies put forward by the insiders. For
Feenberg, determinism stands to reason that democracy is unattainable; for without
any unexplored potentialities there is no politics to be determined through social
hierarchy. Feenberg calls upon the child labor example often to convey his points
about the societal effects upon technology. The cultural prevalence of child labor
during the period resulted in machines which were made to accommodate their
adolescent users. The change of the regulatory environment and simultaneous change
in cultural horizons are reflected in new technical codes. Feenberg argues that this
shift in technical codes is a better representation of regulation than the tradeoff model
in which we are giving up progress for the sake of regulation. Instead,

With the business internal control out of control I would recommend to hire an
accountant with extensive internal audit situation with businesses that was in a
similar state. A company executive should be placed as project head to work with the
auditor. This will help to give the auditor a clear understanding of where the company
is and the direction it wants to go. By them working together the executive offers the
business plan of what they want and the auditor offers the expertise and experience in
process to get the company there. The sooner the company hires an internal auditor

26. Diction In Annabel Lee
Edgar Allen Poe was one of the greatest poets to show both the human emotion as a
wonderful work of art or the hellish part of the human mind. Originally published in
May of 1849, Poe wrote one of his greatest poems, Annabel Lee which depicts a love
between two kids that is stronger than any other. However, they are separated when
the life of Annabel Leeis cut short. Although this is a tragic story, the narrator lives
his life and death remembering the great Annabell Lee. Poe wrote another poem in
1845 named The Raven which describes an old man s unforgotten fear of his long
lost wife. A raven enters his house to give the narrator information about his past
wife and her death, and possibly her fate in Hell. In the poems Annabel Lee ... Show

Poe uses a tone in Annabel Lee that is much more positive and pleasant while The
Raven has a tone that is much more hateful and ominous. The narrator in Annabel
Lee is rarely angry or pessimistic, instead he is positive and focuses on the love he has
with Annabel Lee rather than her death. An example of this tone can be found
when the narrator is remembering his long lost Annabel Lee and he says, For the
moon never beams, without bringing me dreams / of the beautiful Annabel Lee
(Poe,34 35). In this quote the narrator is reminiscing about his beautiful Annabel
Lee and has a light and soft loving tone. When describing Annabel Lee the narrator
says how beautiful she was and how much loved her then and now. The narrator in
The Raven ,however, has a dark and heavy tone throughout the poem. An example
of such harsh words can be found when he is questioning why the black crow has
come to him and he says, Prophet! Said I, Thing of evil Prophet still, of bird or
devil! ... It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels name Lenore (Poe, 91 94).
In this quote Poe describes the crow as a prophet and the devil. The narrator is
afraid of the truth that the crow brings about where in the afterlife his lost wife
Lenore is in. From this quote and many others the narrator has a scared and angry
tone, he uses words like devil and evil to describe the crow. Although the narrator
still loves Lenore he is afraid of where she is now rather than

Historical events help people understand what life used to be like in the past. These
stories can be told in many different ways. They can be told through movies,
narratives, and oral stories. In the narrative The Interesting Life of Olaudah Equiano
by Olaudah Equiano, the author tells his story through an autobiography type of
narrative. In Squanto: A Warrior s Tale, Squanto s story is shown in a movie. In both
stories, Equiano and Squanto have been captured by the white men and their stories
tell what they went through. EquianoВґs and SquantoВґs behavior during captivity,
treatment during captivity, and their feelings after release have much in common but
they also vary in different ways. Their behavior during captivity was very different
because of the circumstances of their situations. In The Interesting Life of Olaudah
Equiano, Equiano was very sick of the conditions he was living in. Equiano was in
shock because of what was happening aboard the ship he was on. Between the
stench, the sick people, and people getting beaten by crew members he didn t want
anything else besides death. When Equiano states ВЁNor had I the least desire to
taste anything. I now wished for the last friend , death to relieve me,ВЁ it shows that
he not only didnВґt want to eat, but to die as well (Equiano 85). While Equiano was
helpless on board of a ship full of slaves, Squanto took more of an active approach.

The Famous Murder Trial s Killer Discovered
Lizzie Borden s trial was one of the mysterious and famous murder trials in 1900 s.
This murder trial took place in the Borden s house on the 4th of August, 1892 in the
city called Fall River, Massachusetts. The Borden s house incorporated Andrew
Borden and his second wife, Abby, his two daughters, Lizzie and Emma, and a
housemaid Bridget Sullivan. However, the main suspect was revealed to be Lizzie
Borden in the trial; therefore, she was arrested for her father s and stepmother s
murder. A look at the evidence of the murder case proves that Lizzie Borden was
guilty of her father and stepmother s murder.

There are many possible motivations for Lizzie Borden to kill her parents. One of
the motivation that [p]olice suspected that Lizzie harbored resentment based upon
her natural mother s death when she was a child or perhaps she wanted to access
to her father s estate valued at between $300,000 and $500,000 (Johnson 1:164).
These two motivations show how she might want to take revenge or take money
from his father. Hartselle and Myers also agree that the possible motivation for
Lizzie to murder her parents must have been for money and bitterness, which were
approaching her father who was a miserly person and her stepmother who was one
of the people that Lizzie hated the most (Hartselle and Myers paragraph 9). This is
not the only case where a child murdered his or her parents. For example, according
to FBI of the United States, 242 of the victims from 12,966 homicides... [in 2010]
were parents killed by offspring (Hartselle and Myers paragraph 1). This statistic
shows that in approximately 2% of the cases, parents are killed by their own
children. This implies on the Lizzie Borden s trial that Lizzie must have killed her
parents. Further in the trial, Lizzie s records show that she did not like obeying her
father and staying at home; however, she rather preferred to be independence and
sought social avenues so she would be able to

31. Compare And Contrast Relative Dating And Radioactive
Dating
There is multiple ways to determine the age of fossils. Two well known techniques
are relative dating and radioactive dating. Even though they are similar, they both
come at the situation a different way. They are both different and they have their own
techniques. Relative dating uses the location within the rocks layers. Radioactive
dating uses information that they gather from the decay of radioactive substances
within an object. What s the difference in relative and radioactive dating? All though,
both of these techniques are used for the same thing, they are very different from
each other. They both use different types of things to measure how old the fossils

They were able to learn about dinosaurs and how old they were and when they
were discovered by radioactive dating. Radioactive dating allows scientist to
record things in the past. In order to do this, they have to use the ratios of isotopes
to determine the age of the rocks and fossils. Some chemicals that they use in
radioactive dating are Carbon, uranium and potassium. Each one of these elements
are made up of atoms. In each atom, there is a nucleus. Inside of that, we find a
neutron, and when they become unstable, they let go of energy. When they let go
of this energy, it is called radioactivity. It occurs when the nucleus has an excessive
amount of neutrons. The variation of neutrons are called isotopes. Isotopes are a
form of an element that are unstable. When going through radioactivity, the
unstable isotopes break down and form a new element. The isotopes are never
destroyed but they turn into something else. As far as the accuracy goes, people are
proven to believe that this is a very accurate method. They say this because
radioactive dating is based on radioactive decay of unstable isotopes. They have
ways of proving that this method is in fact correct and very accurate. They say that

34. Malcolm Knowles Andragogy
Executive Summary:
This paper is a research on Malcolm Knowles topic andragogy . Knowles describes
andragogy as the art and science of adult learning. Andragogy focuses on special
needs od adults learners, he classifies these need into six different categories: (1)
need to know, (2) self concept, (3) prior experience, (4) readiness to learn, (5) learning
orientation, and (6) motivation to learn.
Adults have special needs as learners and these needs should be taken into
consideration when planning training for adults. When adults participate in a positive
learning experience that follows the six assumptions of andragogy presented in this
paper, they are more likely to retain what they have learned and apply it in their work
environment.
Qantas
Introduction:
As a HR graduate, through research and examination it was found that Knowles
Andragogy is the best way for adults to learn. Every group contains a configuration of
idiosyncratic personalities, differing past experiences, current orientations, levels of
readiness for learning, and individual learning styles. Thus trainers should be wary of
prescribing any standardized approach to facilitating learning (Brookfield 1986).
Understanding the six assumptions in andragogy prepares facilitators to create
successful training. Qantas What is Andragogy?
Malcolm Shepherd Knowles (1913 1997) was an American educator well known for
the use of the term Andragogy as synonymous to the adult education.

meaning out of the various aspects that work together to create such an eloquent work

37. Descriptive Essay On Guest House
Crash A typical day at my grandparent s cabin in the Black Hills consists of a lot of
sitting around and just hanging out. Some days the whole family will go on a four
wheeler ride for most of the day. Sometimes we will go do something like visit a cave
or drive to Rapid City or Custer or Hill City or some other town out there. My
Grandma cooks the best meals. You look forward to every single meal knowing that
it was going to be a great one. My dad s side of the familyincludes Stetson and Nick.
Not many people outside of my family have been to my grandparents cabin, so I ll
give you a little description, it s not very small. The main house consists of 4
bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, plus a lot of space in the kitchen and living room. Next,
you have a smaller guest house which consists of 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, plus a
garage.
So Stetson, Nick, and I always hangout together out there and do the same things.
We sleep in one of the guest house rooms where there are 3 beds with a TV. One of
the beds is a full size bed where Stetson sleeps, and Nick and I sleep in 2 twin size
beds. However, the twin size beds will give you a massage and can sit up and lay
down. During the day we usually lie around or ride four wheelers around the area..
However, on this particular day, things turned out a little different than we expected.
In 2012, the weekend of Sturgis, the entire family decided to take a trip out to the
Hills. Porter, my brother, brought along a friend, Braedon Wulf. At the
38. The Ways We Use Manners Now
Manners were always great and extremely common to have back in the day. But if
you truly put it into perspective, they have changed a lot over the years. When I
was a child, I was always taught to be the nicest, caring person I can be to every
living person and every living thing. Of course I was taught to say please , thank
you , and excuse me , but I was also taught to be considerate of others and to be kind
no matter what, and that s a big part of having manners. Manners have changed
overtime due to technology, the raising of today s children, and the loss of respect
between one another.
Because of technology, there are many different ways we use manners now, but
there are also reasons why technology is the cause of most people not having
manners at all. If you notice the way people talk now, it s completely different than
how people used to talk. For example, people now normally don t say I m sorry if
they bump into you at the grocery store, they will say my bad . And usually instead
of saying no thank you you will hear, nah I m good. It takes less work to interact
with one another because of technology and I believe that the traditional manners are
just outdated and we humans made different ways to show politeness. On the other
hand, some people are too into their phones, laptops, and videos games that they don
t bother using manners in public and that, to me, is a big issue. There are videos,
games, and other things online that give people and kids the wrong
39. CTE Case Study
There have been many studies recently on CTE on NFL and NHL; the majority of
the studies are NFL players. CTE is a progressive degenerative disease of the brain,
and its found in people with a history of repetitive brain trauma and in the early
1900 s was called punch drunk syndrome, the reason it was it called that was from
boxers getting repeated hits to the head According to Boston University. This later
caused them to have weakness in lower limbs, unsteadiness of gait, slowness of
muscular movement, and many other things that make a person look like they may
be drunk. CTE is caused by symptomatic concussions as well as asymptomatic sub
concussive hits to the head which are small hits the do not show any symptoms of a
concussion. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of the brains mentioned the position that had the most cases of Linemen with 44,
and second being running backs according to New York Times. The reason
linemen make up the most of the CTE cases is they have accumulation of small
hits to the head, rather then the bone rattling hits that other positions will get.
According the New York Times a linemen sustained 62 small hits in a single game at
the college level. It was also stated each impact came with an average force that is
equivalent if the linemen had driven his car into a brick wall at 30 mph. With that
the symptoms can occur years after the head blows have stopped, so the players may
not be aware they have CTE until years after they retire. With the 110 players who
had a cases of CTE there was one place kicker and one punter that had cases of CTE,
this means that CTE can occur in any position on the field of football. According to
New York Times graph it said that out of the 110 NFL players 8 were younger then
40, 44 were between the ages of 41 69, and 58 being 70 or older. There have also
been cases of CTE in hockey. The most known case of CTE from an NHL player is
Derrick Boogard, who was considered one of the most feared enforcers in the
league. An enforcer is a player who will fight or check the offender of the opposing
team that may have made a viscous play. Enforcers will get a great deal of head
trauma from the punches of the offender of
40. The Pros And Cons Of Animal Welfare
Did you know that 56 billion animals are slaughtered each year? People believe that
farmers are abusing and causing stress on the animals. Farmers use confined feeding
operations to maximize the production. By having the confined feeding operations, it
gives the animals no room to graze. When they can t graze, it restricts the animal to
move or to exercise ( On The Farm). The animalsare not given any pain relief during
certain practices like castration or dehorning. Animal welfareis not needed in the
farming aspect, because the animals are meant for food. In the 1970 s, animal
welfarist got together and tried to sue farmers for being cruel and harming
animals. The government created the right to farm laws. That law protected
farmers rights when farming. Twelve states banned certain farm practices because
they were believed to be inhumane. Those bans include, gestation crates for sows,
veal crates for calves, and battery cages for chickens. All those states that banned
the practices were small in the ag field. The farmers are saying that they are not
hurting animals, they are protecting them. People that live in cities or that don t
experience the farm work will say it is inhumane. Farmers are trying to make
changes to stop these regulations. State Farm Bureaus are trying backing up the
farmers. The regulations could ruin the agricultural business (Fifield). Farmers use
the most efficient methods which lower the prices for the consumer. The other
people would say that the most efficient way goes against the animal s welfare.
When using the high welfare methods it raises the price of eggs by 18% which is
about 49 cents per dozen. Walmart and McDonalds will be using only cage free
eggs by 2025. That will increase the price of the eggs. They cages and crates are
said to be safe and sanitary ways for egg production. Makes the price of food
increase because the farmer can t have as many animals because it requires too
much space to be humane (Fifield). Gestation crates are the safest way for a sow to
give birth. Gestation crates are inhumane for the sows. They can only stand or lie
down. And they are in the crate for up to 4 months without walking. Going 4 months
without walking will cause stress on the

Success: Accomplishing Your Dream Completing the American Dream is a
controversial issue. The American Dream can be defined as having a nice car,
maybe two or three of them, having a beautiful, healthy family, making an impact on
the world, or even just having extra spending money when the bills are paid. In the
play Death Of A Salesman, by Arthur Miller, the American Dream dealswith
prosperity, status, and being immortalized.
Willy Loman, a hard worker aged to his sixties never accomplished this goal. He

Success was part of Willy Loman s dream. Willy dreams of both he and his sons
being successful. Willy: Bernard is not well liked, is he? Biff: He s liked, but he s
not well liked. Happy: That s right, Pop. Willy: That s just what I mean. Bernard
can get the best marks in school, y understand, but when he gets out in the business

instance... (ACT I, lines 270 272). Biff and Happy, the Loman brothers, are two
blind followers, falling for Willy s dream. They have never seen what Willy has
actually done. They ve heard the words. Louis Gordon wrote this about the play:
Hap, less favored by nature and his father, perhaps as Willy was in comparison
with Ben, has escaped the closeness with his father that destroys Biff in social
terms. Thus worshipping his father from afar, Hap has never fully come to realize
that phony part of his father and his father s dreams. He does have longings to be
outdoors and to get away from the
42. Renewable Energy Future For New York
Renewable energy has been a controversial topic for many people. People are either
for it or against. Renewable energy seems to be the new energy for the future. WWS
should help reduce fossil fuel, thus helping reduce global warming and creating a
better future for tomorrow. However, there are major challenges to this such as cost,
scarcity of materials, and other lack of other resources. We should use WWS because
its benefits outweigh the negatives.
Stanford Researcher maps out alternative energy future for New York by Rob Jordan

or opinions of people who are against the switch, besides having a great initial cost.
Germany s energy poverty: how electricity became a luxury good by SPIEGEL
Staff is about how electricity in Germany has become more expensive than the
consumer can afford. Germany expansion of wind and solar power has come with a
hefty price tag for consumers and it s negatively impacting the poor. German
consumers are paying the highest electricity prices in Europe. The government is
failing to get the costs of its energy policies under control, thus leading to increases
in prices. After the Fukushima nuclear accident in Japan two and a half years ago,
Chancellor Merkel quickly decided to begin phasing out nuclear power and lead the
country into the age of wind and solar (SPIEGEL Staff, 1). The Germans are now
realizing that this policy is not working and it is affecting the relationship between
the public and the government. In the near future, an average three person will
spend about 90 euro a month for electricity that is twice as much as in 2000. Two
third of the prices increase due to new government fees. The reason why most
people are very upset with the policies and the rising prices is mainly because the
government pensions and social welfare payments have not been adjusted. This is
making it hard for them to
43. Analysis Of A Rose For Emily By William Faulkner
A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner uses memories or flashbacks, and
unintentional symbolism to show the transition from the old south to the new south.
The short story also focuses on the resistance and ideals that are left in the wake of
this transition. William Faulkner is a renowned Southern novelist, which can only be
assumed that he is because he was born and raised in Mississippi, where he
experienced the conclusion of the conversion while he was still young. William
Faulkners short story contains several instances that can display differences between
the deep rooted south and the new south. For example, Colonel Sartoris, who was the
prior mayor, made up an anecdote so that Emily would not be obligated to pay
taxes, which the author goes on to say that only a man from Colonel Sartoris s
generation and thought could have invented it... (Faulkner, pg. 404). The next cohort
of mayors and aldermen had modern ideas that made the arrangement dissatisfactory,
but Emily still fought and won because she thought Colonel Sartoris was still alive
(Faulkner, pg. 404). Leaders of the new generation were younger and had thoughts
that were more contemporary that could honor the best of the past and progress to
innovativeness. ...Miss Emily s house was left, lifting its stubborn and coquettish
decay above the cotton wagons and gasoline pumps an eyesore among eyesores
(Faulkner, pg. 404). This quote contains how the past is regarded and how the shift is
taking place. Emily s home

Waking up on Sunday July 10th, I knew that I was going to leave my bed, my
family, and my friends for six weeks. I knew that I was going to miss everyone, but
I also knew that I was leaving everything behind and chase my future. I knew that
on that morning I would be arriving at Rutgers Newark for the Summer 2016 EOF
Nursing Program. What I did not know was that I was going to meet the best group
of people from the EOF program and whom I would now consider my family. I was
never really close to many people, but now I am. This all started due to the retreat.
Before the retreat, we all entered the program and became acquaintances. We knew
faces, but we never really knew some people s names. We knew everyone was here to
become a nurse, but we
45. Billy Budd Comparison
Many novels, despite having dissimilar plots, oftentimes contain similar story
elements. Whether the similarity is the goal of the protagonist, or the motive of the
antagonist, a similarity can be found between two novels. And even with similarities,
differences occur, which allow for comparison and contrast. And thus it is with Billy
Budd by Herman Melville and The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The two
books are different concerning plot and setting, but they have similarities in the effect
of the setting on the characters, the conflict between the protagonists and antagonists,
and (third body paragraph?). In comparing the setting and the effect on the characters
in The Scarlet Letter and Billy Budd, the time and location affected

Overview:
Yamada reorganization of drug discoveryat GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) following a
merger to combat bureaucracy in decision making, approval, and authorization. This
reorganization was necessary for the continued success of the company. Often the

There were areas of artificial barriers in the old system of product development and
research. What Yamada is trying to attempt is to focus the groups into one area,
create accountability, and speed up the process similar to what happens in the
small biotech firms. Where Yamada had difficulties was the performance of the
CEDD in the first 18 months, and possibly the buy in from the CEDD leadership.
While some of this is because of bad legacy products from the heritage organizations
some was also to the CEDD leadership leaving the organization. This is not unlike
the case study of Kodak and the leadership backing at new product development.
Leadership accountability comes with buy in to the development process. Lack of
defining structure in genetic research and discovery research in this case.
Strengths:
Harness Talent Allows the research scientistto be vested in the development of new
drugs and compounds. Finical rewards for product success and creation.
Focus development The products are developed by the CEDD and the artificial
barriers of product development lessen or eliminated. Increase the speed at
development of compounds and products.
Cost effectiveness Set Budgets for CEDD to operate within and creates incentive to
operate efficiently.
Create accountability Brings more marketable

Introduction and Rationale I am sharing my view in regards to the article
Examination of School Counselors Activities: From the Perspective of Counselor
Efficacy and Collaboration with School Staff. In this article Atici conducted a study
with nine counselors in regards to their activities, collaboration with staff members
and their efficacy. I will discuss the articles strengths and weakness from my point of
view. I will be sharing the outcome/results in regards to Atici s research. I will
mention the different methods I plan on practicing in my counseling program. This
research paper will help me understand the importance of efficacy and collaboration
with school staff. Certain techniques will be incorporated into my future counseling
program. Article Strengths and Weaknesses The article had a couple of strengths
within it. One of those being that it shares the different types of guidance activities a
future counselor could use. Such as conflict resolution, bullying, violence, peer
restraint, personal boundaries, abuse, anger management, and harmful behaviors (pp.

activities I could use with my students. It also shares the importance of collaborating
with students, faculty members, and parents. The article mentions the importance of
having confidence within yourself. It also shares the importance of having positive
communication skills to have successful relationships within
48. Social Role And Social Roles
Everybody in the world belongs to a subcultural group (people that come together
that seek out others sharing similar ideas or views) or plays a social role in it.
Playing in a social role, as individuals, we act in certain situations differently, such
as in a work place, home, or around your peer groups. I believe it s a real occurrence
that a lot of people deal with daily. The ideology of a subculture group or the social
roles you play forms by separating or belonging in it and forming personal norms,
sanctions, material objects, symbols, language patterns, and social institutions. Such
as me being an employee (sales associate) at Payless and being a younger sister to an
older brother which have similar ways but they also have a few differences.
To begin with, when it comes to working for an economic institution I play a certain
social role when being a sales associate. I wouldn t act the same way at my job like
I do with my family members or my friends such as clowning around, teasing,
cursing, or pulling pranks on each other. In my job description there are norms and
sanctions that I need to follow, breathe, and live by them. I m responsible for
following the Company s safety and environmental laws, regulations, and
procedures at work. For instance, always come in on time (unless you call in),
follow the safety policies for ourselves and customers such as prevention of
accidents removing things that can cause a fall or slip such as a 3 or 8 step ladder
s or carts (children might mistake it as a toy), making sure boxes on top of the
rack shelves are less than 8 inches high (not in the way for sprinkles or falling
over), making sure each aisle is clean (nobody s going to come into a dirty store),
putting shoes in their right particular areas and sizes from kids on the left hand
side, women s in the middle, and the men s on the right hand side and straight
across the back of the store. In addition, to safety reasons in work wear we can
wear almost about anything but must be comfortable like business wear or casual
(no jeans, open back sandals/heels, and must be knee length) and have a Payless
store tag always, also when it comes to lifting boxes we must always wear a black
back support belt while lifting.

as the crew staff that help to set up the equipment such as the Under 8s Super

activities are provided by them, they didn t include the prices to hire the

50. 17 Year Old Offenders Essay
Texas is only one of seven states to still try 17 year olds as adults, even though the
law does not consider teens adults until the age of 18. When you are 18 you can
vote, join the military, and buy lottery tickets. When you are 17 you cannot do
those things but you can be put into adult facilities. The law does not have to tell
the parents of a 17 year old s arrest. The parents also do not have the right to be in
the court process ( Raise the Age of Criminal Responsibility ). Around 8,000
offenders from the age of 17 to 20 were placed on adult probation for crimes they
committed when they were 17 years old. Most of the crimes 17 year old commit are

They say that by moving the 17 year old offenders would improve their lives in the
long run. Keeping 17 year old in the juvenile system would protect their records by
keeping them private. Programs to help the young offenders are offered in the
juvenile system. They have access to education and substance abuse programs that
are unavailable in the adult jails. The concern for the younger children in the
juvenile system is solved by having the older teens at a different location from the
younger children (Dworaczyk). Although in adult jails, 17 year olds are required
to be kept away from the adults in solitary this can lead to psychological problems
for the teens and can lead to self harm ( Raise the Age of Criminal Responsibility ).
On the other side of the situation, critics say that the younger children will be
exposed to the influence of the older teens regardless of if they are in a different
location. The 17 year olds are into more serious crimes, so their rehabilitation needs
may be more with the needs of adults rather than juveniles. The critics are saying
the adult jails have more of the type of help that these offenders need. They are
looking out for the younger juvenile children and what their outcome will be if they
are exposed to the 17 year olds behavior
51. Indi Similarities And Differences And Contrast India And...
Our task for this term is to compare and contrast Australia and an Asian country. This
report will highlight the similarities and differences between my chosen country India
and Australia.
Location And Population
India is located at coordinates of 20.5937В° N, 78.9629В° E and is 3.287 million
kmВІ in landmass. This is fairly small compared to Australia with 7.692 million
kmВІ in landmass. Australia is located at coordinates of 25.2744В° S, 133.7751В°E.
Further more even though Australia is bigger it still has a smaller people per kmВІ
rate. At 3 people per kmВІ this is miniature compared to India with gigantic rate of
382 people kmВІ.there is also huge difference in population as Australia has
21,508,000 and India with a enormous population of 1,326,572,000 the difference
between these populations are 1,305,064,000.
Flags
The flag of a country is always unique and represents the countries values. India s
flag has the colours green, white and orange going horizontal in this order. In the
middle of the white is something called the Ashoka Chakra it is a 24 spoke wheel
that represents the 33 inscriptions on the pillars of Ashoka. As well as boulders and
cave walls the emperor had built. In contrast Australia s flag is also very unique as
it has the Southern Cross and the union jack. The union jack was adopted from
English flag. The union jack is the British flag. The union jack is on the flag because
Australia is still ruled by British Empire. The colours of the Australian flag
