The Negative Effects Of Technology And Its Effects On Our...
As we go into the future we see that computers are not going anywhere and are becoming more and
more prevalent throughout our society. The big question is whether or not this is helping or hurting
us. Man dates back over twenty thousand years ago, and we are always advancing. During the early
years when we were first starting to forming colonies on new land we notice that guns helped to
give us and edge. New technology is what helped found this country. Nowadays we look at cell
phones and internet and how we are able to communicate with people all the way on the other side
of the world with ease. Without technology like cellphones, laptops, and tablets we would not be
able to communicate so fast and easily. Others argue that this is why our society is corrupt and that
cellphones, computers, and new technology is the root of this evil. They believe that machines are
what cause people to become fat, and that games are making children angry. These are also the same
people that say the internet is making it easier for children to access things that they shouldn't see.
The International Journal of Obesity says that "The prevalence of overweight and obesity has
increased among children and adolescents, as well as among adult, and television viewing has been
suggested as one cause. Playing digital games (video, computer and console games), or using
computer may be other sedentary behaviors related to the development of overweight and obesity."

Negative Essay : How Social Media Affects Society
The media affects society in a number of different ways; not all are bad either. Some media affects
society in a positive way. Most of the time though, the negative aspects of media out way the
positive aspects and in turn, this begins to rip society apart and cause disarray throughout it. Some
of the good ways that the media affects society is when events like natural disasters or mass
shootings occur because people come together to help out their neighbors in hard times. Although,
the negative aspects are more commonly seen through fake news and overexposure to children.
Overall, the negativity seems to be remembered and spread more often than not.
Over the generations, media has changed the everyday life of human beings. Even as early as the
mid 1800's when the Ku Klux Klan was formed, the public opinion swayed us to make decisions
based on what everyone else thinks. Movies, social media, public gatherings have all made the
public watch what they say and who they say it around. There may not have been social media like
there is today back in the 1800's, but people were still influenced by others over certain topics.
Opinions on certain things use to get one in a lot of trouble, and just looking at the wrong person
could get one killed, which is still present nowadays. Consider politicians, one vote has the power to
change everything. One negative comment made on social media can change a whole election, a
whole term. The power of changing the future is really in

To Give is To Receive
The idea of giving has been around since biblical times. Its quoted in the bible over (2000 times).
Through the centuries, although it has maintained it's initial roots of helping thy neighbor, it has
evolved into a significant multi–billion dollar business, and has been well accepted by the general
public. Giving is world word in acceptance, and crosses all civilized borders.
The Federal Government has recognized the importance of charitable giving in (xxxx) in the tax
code by developing the 501–3C, which has become the biggest vehicle in which "givers" use to
access their charitable organization.
The need for Charity Minutes is simple. Charities are looking for ways to become sustainable,
which means for the most part they must seek alternative means for raising funds. The once or twice
a year (chicken dinner) fund raising event, the silent auction, and the annual golf tournament,
although sometimes successful, will not sustain them. Aid and grants from local government has
reached an all time low. Their influential board of directors of doctors, attorneys, Indian chiefs and
leaders of business, have less time to spend on boards, and have more difficulty with the goals of
attaining those sustainability dollars. Charitable donors now more than ever, are scrutinizing every
dollar they give and are asking the question, what are you doing to become sustainable.
Although the charities (non–profits) have a good relationship with the (for–profit) business
community, at

My Childhood Experience
Everybody has grown up differently. Everybody has different stories, different memories, and
different hardships that have shaped who they are as a person. When most people think of their
childhood they think of family night board games. They think of running off to the park with their
best friends, laughing on swingsets and hopping scotch until they were out of breath. They have
memories of vacations, funny stories at family gatherings, or that one time they fell of their bike and
their dad carried them home and put on a bandaid and made all the pain go away.
When I think of my childhood, I think of two defining events fairly early on that will stick with me
forever. I think of the first time I found out we were finally going to Chuck E. ... Show more content

Telling us how much he loved us and that he was just gonna spend the night at his parents house for
a while until our mom calmed down. My mom, Paxtin and I took an unexpected trip to Idaho the
next day to "visit family". When we came home, all of my dad's stuff was gone.
In an instant, my life had changed. I have no memory of my mom and dad being together and being
happy. Just the terrible things that led up to their divorce. The fact that when I thought back to my
childhood and all I could remember were the sad and depressing moments made me turning to
photography. As soon as I got my 3rd generation iPod touch for Christmas in 2012, I was obsessed
with taking pictures. I would take pictures of anything that i found beauty in. I didn't care that it
wasn't the best quality or I didn't know the right angles. I knew I would learn and upgrade and that
in the meantime, I would document everything on my shitty iPod camera in hopes to make up for all
the lost memories. I would grow to use photography as a tool to cope with a dreadful, fleeting
childhood, emotionally hard times I went through, and my biggest fears in life.
In no way am I trying to say I had the worst childhood I possibly could've had. Mixed with all the
bad was some good. Like flattening out cardboard boxes and sliding down a steep, dry, grass hill
because we wanted to go sledding in the middle of July. Or going on

My First Year Of Middle School Essay
Walking through the double doors of school and to my very first locker, I took a breath and realized
this was a new stage in my life. A new stage in life meant new people, experiences, and problems–
especially problems. I wore questionably clean, wrinkled clothes, ready to start my first year of
middle school. The amount of kids in my class multiplied tenfold with over 250 students. The year
prior, I had plenty of friends, and couldn't have been happier. However, with the additional 200
students, and problems at home flourishing, I never realized until then how alone I actually was.
While walking to my first class I caught several glares from different classmates, some of whom
used to be good friends of mine. Once I got to my seat, I quickly sat down and pulled my worn out
hoodie over my face, shutting the world out. Although the world seemed so cold, things weren't
always like this. The years leading up to this moment were much different. Anyone that met me
knew I was always a social butterfly. Wherever I went, I had a friend to talk to. If I didn't have a
friend to talk to, I would make some. Making friends was as easy as breathing and just came
naturally to me. My ability to make friendships had no boundaries. There were many times in my
childhood that we went on vacation to Myrtle Beach. Every time we went on vacation, I insisted on
meeting everyone staying near our condo. By the end of the first day staying there, everyone knew
my name. We couldn't walk anywhere

"Poison"
By All Time Low
I've got a house in the back of my head
But I can't find a permanent resident
'Cause the market's down
And the area's not so good these days
I've got a watch but I don't have time
I've got a road and it leads to decadence
But a dead end sign waits down the line
I leave my footprints for the evidence
So take my life, I'll hand it to you
And you can try on my clothes
But you can't fill these shoes
On a silver platter your wish came true
So your heart of gold turned platinum
You can take my life (oh)
But you can't take it with you
More long days and fleeting nights
I tell them, "Wake me under flashing lights"

I am a critic
Of my only critical need to define myself
With wine and words and lovers
And friends who don't understand
So there, I just said it
You know that admitting the problem is the first step
Towards repair, "We all recover, "
Say the friends turned to wine–drunk lovers
Smile, tell me I'm alright
With a goodbye
You are so misleading
A kiss or a gun fight
High–noon or midnight
Darling, I don't want to know
If I'm just a short sight on a cold night
The canals are freezing
So tell me I'm alright with a goodbye
Am I a villain?
Cast among heroes with all of their
Underwhelming overbearing struggles
To become what they'll never be?
Friends to the wicked
Caution is calling, but nobody's home,
The lights are off, the party's over,
Now you're stuck plucking three–leaf clovers
Smile, tell me I'm alright

Tips For A Successful Career
What should you do to forge a successful, gratifying career? Briefly explain each of the four
dimensions that should be considered. Where do you need to improve? What is your plan to
accomplish your improvement?
To forge a successful career you should be a specialist, a generalist, self–reliant , connected and also
be able to actively manage your relationship with your organization and be able to survive and
thrive in the world.
According to the text it is said you should be a specialist and a generalist, since in your career you
do not just want to be a specialist, you want to advance up and get into higher positions in which
your responsibility increases, you will deal with more people and and understand if not all at least
more areas of the organization. To be a specialist you need to be skillful expert in a particular
valuable area which will help give the firm and the customers a more concrete and knowledgable
value. To be a generalist means to have a wide range of knowledge about diverse areas in the
organization. To be self–reliant means to be autonomous and take responsibility for your own
actions. As a human who wants to grow it is our duty to go the extra mile and do what is necessary
to grow without the help of a boss or a company, we must try to be entrepreneurs and take risk and
see where we make mistakes, work hard towards improving those mistakes via practise and rise
upwards. To be connected means to have a lot of good relations with clients and people

Personal Narrative: Growing Up Haley's Life
I remember a time just about a year ago when my sister was overcome with mental health issues.
For all of haley's life she been a happy girl. Growing up haley was my best friend. People always
mistakes us for twins. We have a very close relationship. Up until last year, problems in her life led
to difficulties which would affect her daily. August of 2015, Haley moved to Provo to attend school
at Utah Valley University. My heart was sad knowing she was leaving me home left with my four
younger brothers. Our friendship remained strong while she was gone. Living in Provo, Haley
quickly loved it. She had awesome roommates who became some of her best friends. Little did we

perspective of other people and their struggles. No one knew about her problems unless they were
told. Many people struggle daily. We never know what's going on in people's lives unless they tell
us. The most important thing to do is to love everyone and just be kind. Just imagine what would

Graduation Speech : Surf Sports
In my final term of HPE before heading into my tertiary studies the practical task was surf sports.
Although I have never committed to nippers on the weekend or general surf life saving but as I have
gotten older, I have begun to see the sport as a great way to keep fit while learning the nature of the
ocean. Unfortunately due to my lack of access to the beach during my junior years living in
Brisbane I have never gained a true passion for the sport. The concepts which will most likely have
the greatest impact on my participation in the sport in future years are location and costs. These
barriers along the road post highschool education are often obstacles young adults face but are not
unsolvable. The two concepts mentioned will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With time allocation already restricted as a student, five and a half hours is far too long to travel.
Location as a sporting barrier belongs in the institutional level of figueroa 's framework this is due to
the extensive distance between where I will be living and the surf club which will affect my
participation in the sport. The institutional level of figueroa's framework is defined as the
institutions within society that affect sport and physical activity (Equityinsport, 2014). With next
year being the biggest year regarding my organisation and the balancing of certain commitments, the
constraint of having to travel for potentially five and a half hours to maintain involvement in surf
life saving would mean that my desire to participate would be at an all time low. In appendix 1 it can
be seen that the Australian Bureau of Statistics has done a study on constraints that affect
participation in sports and physical recreation. In the table the certain parts that are highlighted show
that 30.9% of 15–24 year olds don't participate because they aren't interested and a further 36.6%
don't due to work and study commitments. By living as a student with time restraints in Brisbane
next year, I believe that this will prevent me from wanting to become involved in surf life saving.
Because location is acknowledged under the individual level it means that it is mostly my attitude

My Personal Note On Facebook
Slumped in my bed with my laptop is how I spend most days. A duvet, food and youtube are all the
things that make me happy nowadays. That sounds really sad I know, but I don 't really see anyone,
not even family to be honest. I 'm home schooled and my mum is out of the house from 4:30am until
8:00pm trying to earn enough money to support the two of us. Yeah, it 's a lonely little life and yeah,
it does feel very isolated.
That 's why I find comfort in youtube. The videos are the most comfort I get at the moment, I mean
people are practically talking to you, and that 's more than I get in real life. I don 't know how to talk
to new people or make friends because I never had to, I 'm very shy, the only person I talk to is my
mum as we don ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are some youtubers that never fail to make me laugh, even if I 'm at a low, that can just make
me smile. It 's kinda weird to like them for a 14 year old girl, I mean most people my age are
probably in love with Joe Sugg or Caspar Lee, Dan Howell or Phil Lester. But not me. Well, I do
love them, but the people I just can 't get enough of are the Yogscast.
I don 't know why, they 're just hillarious and I absolutely love them. Yes sure call me a geek, a nerd
whatever but I play a lot of the games they do and never miss a new episode of anything. I 've
watched all their series at least twice.
That does sound rather sad but you have to remember I 'm alone with nothing to do most of the time.
I do all my maths, English, science and media studies (home) school work on my laptop, I also do
art. I sometimes do extra if I feel like I 'm going to be tired the next day so I can just watch youtube
videos. Yeah, I 'm taking my GCSEs this year as well as next year and that means that because I 'm
home schooled, I have to go into a school to take the exams. Not only are exams terrifying, but
going into a giant room full of strangers to do an exam is even scarier.
So, here I am, sat on my bed on a warm Monday afternoon, doing some Biology coursework. I
listened to Ed Sheerans album 'Multiply '. I absolutely adored Ed and particularly enjoyed listening
to 'Runaway ', I have no idea why, it just made the whole idea of running away sound rather

Summary Of ' Watch Out '
"Watch out. She's in a bad mood again today" sighed Mr. Hodge, who was one of the other 5th grade
teachers. Hearing this upon entering my class at the start of school is never a good way to start the
day. Especially if your teacher is Mrs. Stewart. It was in the middle of my last year in elementary
school, and I was already accustomed to Mrs. Stewart's tenacity. She pounced on any student when
she got the chance, and today was my lucky day. Mrs. Stewart not only hindered my love for
literature, but instead induced a phobia onto me of books. The way she treated my class would get a
teacher fired today. Her slender body with the complexion of a witch could scare any child, maybe
even some adults. She proused the classroom like a wolf, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

She laid the note on my desk and marched out of the room.
Detention Notice: Student administered the notice hereby is sentenced to a detention with referring

to be thrilled with this. Now this wasn't my first rodeo with detentions, but with Mrs. Stewart they
always varied from cleaning the underbelly of the desks to cleaning her floor with a napkin or the
best option was being able to do homework. You would be surprised by the amount of gum found
under the desks even though gum is strictly prohibited. Hopefully my fate would be to finish the
critical reading questions she assigned.
It's after school the following day and I have prepared myself to face the wrath of the Stewart. In
class that day was rather laid back, so maybe I would get lucky. The thick tension in the air as I
walked in the class was enough to choke on. Sweat started to moisten my shirt from the inside.
Waiting at her desk reading her Teacher's Guide to teaching was the tyrant. I didn't dare to meet her
glare this time, for I have learned from my mistake.
"Mrs. Stewart, what would you li–"
"Sit down Mitchell." she coldly stated.
No sympathy was found in her voice. I knew I was really in for it now. Not wanting to face her I
picked a seat with my back facing her. The seat was ice cold, yet I was still perspirating. The feeling
of being watched was shooting through the back of my

My Personal Experience : My Love In My Life
July 21st, 2015.. I first read, "Megan, you know I love you more than anything in the whole entire
world but I can't be with you anymore, I just want to focus on myself". All I could think was this
was a nightmare. It wasn't true.. It broke off, my world has shut down, everything was black.. I felt I
had just got my heart ripped out of my chest and thrown on the ground. The feeling in my throat
where I couldn't even swallow from crying so hard. I cried to where I couldn't cry anymore.
He was my first love, yet my first heartbreak. My heart was completely shattered. I couldn't even go
to school the next few days because I couldn't stop crying. My mom being there right by my side..
Helping me get through it, day by day. It not only shattered my heart but it broke her heart to see me
so mentally ill. I lost my appetite to eat anything, I lost so much weight in just a short week.
Miserable nights had passed, crying myself to sleep, realizing it was time to move on..
A week had passed and I told myself at there was nothing that I could do about it, so I went to
school. I walk in, bags under my eyes, bright red eyes, runny nose, my head is pounding, no
makeup, sweatpants with a sweatshirt. The bell rings for us to be dismissed from the cafeteria, onto

The Day Of My Sixteenth Birthday
The day of my sixteenth birthday was boring and uneventful. Living with my Aunt and Uncle in a
farm on the outside of town, I was used to being friendless and lonely, but waking up on my special
day and realising everyone had forgotten was and all time low.
" Goodmorning," I said to my Aunt, walking into the kitchen. The only reply I received was a slight
grunt and the door banging closed as she headed out to the barn. After getting ready for school, I
packed my bag and started the walk to the bus stop. The day was beautiful, no sign of the foretold
hurricane that was expected and as I whistled I couldn't help but think that today might be an
actually pleasant day.
Man was I wrong, school was a disaster. I guess that when you forget about the football game in the
next town, which the whole school is attending you will be the only one there that day. THe sign on
the locked front doors stated that classes would resume as usual on Monday. Great. My day just
went from bad to worse. The bus didn't even come until 3, if it was still running. Feeling completely
alone but not ready to give up just yet, I treated myself to a cheesy, store bought cake, if Molly
Ringwald had her own pity cake, so would I. Approaching the grocery store I felt the eerie quiet, as
crisp fall leaves blew across the vacant street, a silence seemed to ring through the emptiness of the
town.
Finding the doors locked, typical, I contemplated what to do next, no one was in sight. The only

My Dragon In Beowulf
As humans, we all possess great qualities. We develop memories that we can cherish forever. Hopes
and dreams help us strive to do great things. However, we all have our demons that we all tend to
conceal. The famous poem "Beowulf" is renowned for the battles against Beowulf and many
monsters. The battles in the poem pose as metaphorical battles. Beowulf defeating the monsters
represent him trying to overcome his demons. The last battle was between him and a dragon. To the
reader's surprise, he lost the battle. The dragon represents Beowulf's greatest demon. Despite the
dragons that Beowulf faced that are external, my dragons are more internal. One of the most hellish
dragons that I possess is my anxiety. My anxiety has got the best of me most of the time when I was
younger. It would be difficult for me to go out with other people. I often found myself isolating
myself from the rest of the world. In the poem, "Beowulf", Grendel often hides in his dwelling. "A
powerful monster, living down in the darkness, growled in pain, impatient as day after day" (ln 80).
Having excessive anxiety has developed into my second dragon which is appearence. My
appearance is the most staggering dragon that I have is because it is a dragon I know I can never
defeat. This dragon was mostly fueled by words that still haunt me to this day. Being hairy is a big
nuisance. People would always make comments about my leg and facial hair. Being a senior that is

Analysis Of Esther By Sylvia Plath
The stereotypical survivor could be described as someone who endured grueling physical obstacles,
survived and returned to normal life, and developed as a person since then. Sylvia Plath does not fit
the typical template of a survivor; she did not physically survive. However, the emotional and
mental stress she withstood the ten years prior to her suicide made her just as much of a survivor as
anyone who lived to tell their story. Although Plath eventually crumbled under the weight of her
deteriorating emotional stability, she persevered for as long as she could until she could take it no
longer, making her as strong as anyone who survived a physical challenge. The bell jar was a
symbolic representation of her emotional state throughout the novel, whether it be pre–treatment,
post–treatment, or pre–suicide. Before her treatment with Dr. Nolan, "Esther", the character name
for Sylvia Plath, began a rapid downward spiral beginning while she was still in college, which
included a month of no sleep, a withdrawal from social interaction, and several suicide attempts. At
this time, the bell jar had closed in on her, suffocating her from the inside. Everything reminded her
of death. Esther had tried to drown herself as one of her last suicide attempts before the beginning of
her treatment, and prior to her attempt she noticed that "sharks' teeth and whales' earbones littered
about down there like gravestones" (Plath 153). Her relating measly shark teeth as gravestones down

Stereotype Stereotypes
In a world full of stereotypes, people tend to follow the path that they are subjected to. While there
is the few that rise against the unrelenting categorization, most, without knowledge of it, represent
their group decently well.
Take the classic attention seeker for example. Whether or not they deny their otherwise
inappropriate behavior, the signs are all present. They say, "Did you see my new bag? It's Gucci."
While my internal reaction is "Are you finished yet? This is ridiculous." The reaction that they seek
is one that I am not willing to give. This important standoffish attitude is just what makes the world
go round.
I am constantly in situations where I find myself analyzing a person and placing them in the
category that I see fit. Separating and classifying is a part of human nature because of our internal
need to create a certain kind of order in society. Without this variety of personalities, wants, and
beliefs put into a sequence, our personal understandings of others would be far too limited.
Here, are four well–known types of people groups that in one instance or another have been
encountered by everyone.
The Poser
The poser, also known as "the fake"; can be easily pronounced as one of, if not the most frustrating
person. The constant spiel of false accusations and misdirected attitudes can eventually cause any
sane person to go nuts. Though, their strong ability to hide what is really there is quite impressive
from an outside standpoint.

Far to the north, in the vast wilderness that is Alaska was a sprawling nation. At the center of it all
was the Capitol. The Capitol controlled everything and ruled with an iron fist. Surrounding the
Capitol were 13 districts. These districts provided everything the nation needed. In return for their
support, the Capitol protected its districts. This year, everything seemed to be perfect.
Unemployment was low, income was up, crime was at an all time low, and the Capitol and the
districts seemed to be entering a golden age of peace and prosperity. Not everyone was so easy to
trust the Capitol though. Some believed that the Capitol was filled with tyrants who only saw the

Essay about "Sonny's Blues"
The Evolution of a Relationship through Music
In "Sonny's Blues", theme, form, and image blend into perfect harmony and rise to a thundering
climax. The story, written in 1957 carries a vital social message for us today. It tells of two black
brothers' struggle to understand one another. The older brother, a well–off Harlem algebra teacher, is
the unnamed narrator. The younger man is Sonny, a jazz pianist who, when the story opens, has just
been arrested for peddling and using heroin. In Sonny's Blues, chronological time is upset yet the
author, Baldwin, allows everything to come together in the end. In "Sonny's Blues" the tragedy and
suffering can be transformed into an art such as blues music. This can be viewed as a catalyst ...

Sonny's answer, equating drug addiction with prison, and both with Harlem, shows his need to reach
his brother. The two men have finally begun to communicate with one another. The letters continue
until Sonny's return to New York when the narrator, who has started at last to worry about Sonny,
about the life that Sonny lived inside, takes him home. The narrator acts and feels awkward, wanting
only to hear that Sonny is safe and refusing to accept the fact that he might not be. Through this we
realize that the two brothers finally have an understanding for each other. Although the
understanding is limited, it grows immensely throughout the story.
In the flashbacks the narrator recalls events that bring together the past, present, and future. We learn
of another pair of brothers, Sonny's father and uncle. The uncle, like Sonny, was a musician, but he
was killed one night after being run over by some drunken white men. Parallels are drawn between
both their father and uncle and Sonny. The narrator's mother makes this apparent when she tells him,
"I ain't telling you all this to make you scared or bitter or to make you hate nobody. I'm telling you
this because you got a brother. And the world ain't changed" (41). She tells her older son all this so
he will look after his brother, but her death, occurring shortly after this conversation, only shows the
immeasurable gulf between the two boys. After the narrator was married he forces Sonny to live

All Time Low Concert
With the pop punk scene continuing to grow in recent years, it is only right that pop punk legends
All Time Low headline another tour across the United States, titled "Future Hearts Tour". One of the
more significant dates on this tour was at The Eagles Ballroom in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May
29th 2015. All Time Low has been to the Eagles Ballroom more than any other band, a record
fifteen times. The concert on May 29th did not disappoint, it was a fun filled night for fans in
attendance. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, All Time Low is known for their exciting
concerts. This particular All Time Low concert had excellent opening acts, a unique setlist, an
interesting venue, and detailed stage production. To begin, this concert's opening acts were exciting
and really set the stage for All Time Low. The first band to preform was Real Friends who are from
Chicago. The group's sound can best be described as an angsty version of pop punk. Real friends
played some of their most popular songs such as "I've Given Up On You" and "Floorboards". Many
of the fans in attendance were familiar with Real Friends so the set was very energetic. In addition,
the other opening act was a band called Knuckle Puck, who are also from Chicago. Knuckle Puck

First of all, the Eagles Ballroom is just a giant oval room with no seating, so fans stand together and
cram as close as possible to the stage. The only problem with having no seats is that those who are
tired and need to sit down or use the bathroom struggle to get out of the crowd. Another interesting
feature of the Eagles Ballroom is the balcony. For those who are willing to pay a bit more money a
place to sit with a great view is provided. The balcony is an excellent idea for those who do not want
to stand for three to four hours. As a whole the Eagles Ballroom is a fun and unique place for

The Cost Of The United States
An increase in the number of vacation days or limiting the hours worked in a week by the
government may increase the quality of life by providing more leisure time. However, the overall
quality of life would struggle because in this day and age one has to have money to have a good
time. Recently after much debate, the French eliminated their 35–hour workweek limit with strong
justifiable arguments by both parties. The law was first put in place in 2000 due impart to the
unemployment rate that was around 10% at the time. Ideally with shorter workweeks companies
would have to hire more employees to maintain current outputs. Although, in recent years it has
become apparent that instead of lowering the unemployment rate, it has remained near ... Show

Despite having an extremely productive American companies are hesitant to open factories in
France when they may have to pay workers more than they would in America because of operating

hours. With companies paying less overtime more foreign investments would be made creating jobs
and lowering unemployment would increase the quality of life as a nation as with greater disposable
income the quality leisure time itself would rise.
Ethical Hazards
While agreeing that with the elimination of the law, restrictions should still be enforced to protect
workers from exploitation by their employers. Giving companies more of an edge in their industries
by tampering with the workweek hours could become a slippery slop. The 35–hour week was not
just 35 hours and everyone goes home it's like the standard 40–hour week the United States
recognizes. After the 35 hours overtime pay is required which can cost companies millions and if
not kept in check companies could cut their operation cost to an all time low.
Ethically speaking companies should protect their workers from being overworked, but in reality
some of these companies are the same ones with sweatshops in 3rd world nations. The world is
money driven plain and simple. If allowed, companies will either overwork an employee or find one
that they can. Care for quality of life in the business world is a relatively new concept thanks to laws
and demands by customers.

The Pessimistic Opportunist By Bram Stoker
The Pessimistic Opportunist We smile, we laugh, we hurt, we cry, we take what we can out of life
and we run with it. Those who hide from the opportunities in front of them miss out on a lifetime of
adventures. For as long as I can remember I've been a pessimist. Admittedly, I've ruined a lot of my
family and friends' fun by being negative and pessimistic about the activities they've wanted to do.
I've tried so hard to become that happy–go–lucky adventurous young lady and somewhere along the
way I convinced myself that I was that person. My mother always told me that no one likes a
negative nancy or a killjoy; then again she's an extremely optimistic person so we don't always get

I doubt; I fear; I think strange things which I dare not confess to my own soul." These words from
Bram Stoker have become a paramount part of my life. They remind me that it's okay to have doubts
and worries; it's alright to have fears, but I shouldn't limit myself. My doubts have always gotten me
out of trouble. There was a time in 4th grade when a group of my neighborhood friends proposed an
exploration into the abandoned house's closed and shackled backyard. In our defense, the gate
wasn't thoroughly locked and I didn't some ravenous dog foaming at the mouth waiting to attack in
the blink of an eye. No, it was utterly silent with its exquisitely open and eerily inviting aura; to a
curious little 9 year old, that looks like a very intriguing escapade. Technically, we were trespassing
on private property, and no matter what negative feelings or worried comments, I made we ended up
squeezing through the small impending gateway to trouble sealing our fates. Wouldn't you know it,
the next day those tiny rebels went back again but, being the smart little pessimist I am I had a
feeling it would be best to stay behind and play with chalk on the sidewalk by my dad's house. Later,
I found out that the new couple who had just recently purchased the long–grassed and rusty estate
had noticed some scrawny children sneaking a peek at their backyard and decided to have a
policeman talk some sense into those hellions. I learned that sometimes it's probably best to allow

My Personal Relationship

700151 A personal relationship I hold dear to my heart is with me, myself and I. This is a
relationship I have given everything to, a relationship I have fought for time and time again. I have
had to deal with the lies of my brain and the foolishness of my heart. There was a time I didn't
understand myself, because of this misunderstanding I decided it was easier to hate myself in that
moment. I can say that I have come so far from that in the past year and a half. Becoming more in
tune with myself and learning to love me in a healthy way. This is my journey to finding myself. My
heart wrenching odyssey all started at the end of my junior year of high school. I had just gotten out
of a heavy relationship with someone who didn't care about me from the beginning. I was wrecked
emotionally but I would never acknowledge this as a fact. My self esteem was at an all time low and
at the time I had no idea how to rebuild it, trial and error was my plan of action. My first mistake
was thinking anyone else but myself could fix what was broken. I put all my problems on my
friends unknowingly asking them to do the impossible. I was scared of the quiet, because it held the
truth. So I would spend time with anyone that would give me just a moment of their time. This plan
had worked well enough for an amount of time but it soon became to repetitive and didn't keep the
sorrow away for any amount of time. I could also tell I wasn't the best company in the

"The whole world can become an enemy when you lose what you love"–Kristina Martin. I used to
be the one/the kind of kid who didn't put much effort for/towards anything. I used to not try as hard
in school but now i do because my grandpa does/trys to or did put forth 110% on anything and
everything he did, that inspired me to put forth (or try to at least) 110% on anything and everything I
say or do NO MATTER WHAT it is. Another thing is that I didn't treasure the things I loved as
much as I should have, and now that the experience is over I treasure them a WHOLE LOT more. I
now know that I should have/needed to treasure+love the things I love MORE. It all started out like
a normal friday. I got up at 7:45, got ready and walked to school, went to 1st hour, and then at the
end of the day I went to the library to tell my mom (Kelly Snyder; the librarian at my old school)
that I was going to walk home when she told me that grandpa was in the hospital. I didn't think
much of it at the time. When I got home I asked my dad (Damon Snyder) what was wrong with
grandpa and he said," I'm not sure yet but I'll let you know when I find out." I replied with,"ok." The
next day, (Saturday) my dad had told me that grandpa was getting worse and that at night grandpa
pulled out his I.V. and his catheter, so they had to tape up his hands so he wouldn't pull out the tubes.
So my dad decided that we should go visit him. On the way to the hospital I was feeling sorry for

To Kill A Mockingbird Symbolism Essay
In Harper Lee's novel To Kill a Mockingbird, the fire in chapter 8 symbolizes a form of prejudice as
it burns down the snowman. A lot of the symbolism in this book stems from the prejudice taking
place against the black population in Indiana. Some of this is issued when it snows for the first time
since 1885. The children make a snowman out of leftover snow and some dirt. This represents the
teamwork between the Finch family and the black community. The snow brings out the innocence of
children.
During chapter 8 of To Kill a Mockingbird, Maycomb has had the coldest winter since 1885. Since
it hasn't snowed in over 45 years, people all around are confused and excited. Scout and Jem decide

Scout and Jem know that it isn't right what happened to Tom, and it shows how innocent the two are
and how they couldn't do anything to stop it, just like the house fire.
The fire burning down the snow represents the rare occurrences that are going on in Maycomb
during this year. One of the major events is the snow that hasn't been seen since 1885, which
astonishes all of Maycomb, especially Scout and Jem. On page 86, Scout says, "Next morning I
awoke, looked out the window and nearly died of fright. My screams brought Atticus from his
bathroom half–shaven." With the snow appearing in the town, temperatures drop to an all time low,
with everyone on the block leaving their fireplaces open to warm their house. The fireplace catches
on fire in Miss Maudie's house, starting the fire. The fire eventually spread to different houses,
lighting up the whole street. Fire trucks came in from different towns, because of the intensity.
People from the neighborhood came in to get all of the furniture out. The children marvel at the
glowing flames. They realize that this doesn't happen very often. When do house fires occur during
the winter? Another rare thing to happen is the trial lasting so long. During this time, almost every
case involving a black person would result in them being guilty, whether they really were innocent
or not. The prejudice was so severe that when the trial

Analysis Of Meghan Trainor 's All About That Bass
The music industry nowadays is becoming more and more overloaded with songs orientated around,
how to charm a man, what it takes to get a man and of course how compete and outshine another
female for a man. However whilst being initially happy that Meghan Trainor's "All About That
Bass" became so very popular in receiving praise for encouraging women to celebrate and embrace
their curves; the chart topper become an almost 'girl power' anthem on a positive body image, which
in my opinion is needed and long overdue in times like these. Trainor's effort stands out, taking the
top spot in 27 countries around the world, racking up an impressive 1.6 million views on YouTube.
This was however until I was past the catchy, bubble–gum pink tune and addictive baseline and paid
closer attention to the lyrics of Trainor 's clever marketing ploy, it 's clear to see that "All About That
Bass" is as far from a feminist anthem as they come and unfortunately altered my interpretation that

their bodies, as they are brought up alongside the pressures of today 's media driven and highly
influenced society. The lyrics made me upset, annoyed, angry and a little embarrassed all at the
same time. While I applaud Trainor for her efforts in encouraging women to embrace their bodies, I
remained to be blind in seeing the need, or even understand why she mixed these messages with

THREE SIGNS OF A MISERABLE JOB – DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 1. Is a miserable job
different than a bad job? If so, in what ways? A miserable job is not the same as a bad job.
According to Patrick Lencioni, what is considered a bad job varies from person to person. Lencioni
states, "Some people consider a job bad because it is physically demanding or exhausting, involving
long hours in the hot sun. Others see it as one that doesn't pay well. Still others call a job bad
because it requires a long commute or a great deal of time sitting behind a desk. It really depends on
who you are and what you value and enjoy." A miserable job differs from a bad job because instead
of disliking parts of your job you job is physically and emotionally draining you. Lencioni states
that, [A miserable job is] the one you dread going to and can't wait to leave. It's the one that saps

makes it that much harder for them to adapt once they are older. For a child to be well rounded they
need to understand ideas and thoughts from multiple point of views. One perfect example of

The Golden Age Of Islamic Thought And Its Cultural Impact...
Growing up I always wondered what was going on before the year 2,000. What about year 1,000? I
had learned as far back as the 1700s but I still had not found what I really wanted to know. When I

question was finally answered. During the "Dark Ages" Europe was at its all time low in allowance
of intellectual thinking. The sad thing being people were really dictating the way you think! While
this was happening Islam was thriving in more ways than one in the 1,000s I had always wondered
about. Although Islam has clearly had a significant influence on Europe, Europeans denied this fact,
their invents, thoughts, and ideas even being seemingly relevant all while their society was highly

The historians and philosophers from Europe have denied Islam the credit that it really deserves for
the development of modern culture. One thing that is stupidly ignored is their impact on
mathematics. In today's modern word there is more math than you could ever imagine, very difficult
math at that. None of this would have truly been possible if it wasn't for Islam's contributions but
Europe will always turn their heads to this fact. The common European ego is too large to simply

Regulatory Review Commission Inefficiencies in Operating the Operations Centre Executive

can meet all of its deadlines in a constructive atmosphere. Problems The problem needing the most
immediate attention is Coffey's behaviour and performance. Coffey consistently arrives at work late,
and takes extended breaks. Coffey has even gone so far as to set an alarm for when his breaks begin
and when he can go home. Coffey's tardiness reached a new pinnacle when he failed to show up to
work for a Monday and part of a Tuesday, without informing Ricard of his absence. The most
alarming concern Coffey poses to the R.R.C. is his attitude towards meeting deadlines. Consistently
Coffey either submits work just before or after the required deadlines for assignments. Ricard has
confronted Coffey several times about his behaviour, and Coffey, stubborn to change, refuses to
believe he needs to improve. Another major problem the R.R.C. is facing is an issue experienced by
many government offices. Job security is basically ensured at the R.R.C. and the process to
terminate an employee is extensive and time consuming. All efforts must be taken to first make a
reasonable effort to assist the employee in improving their performance. If the employee can't
perform the duties of their position, an effort must be made to move them to a position they are
capable of performing. If the employee is incompetent for any available position, only then can an
employee be terminated. The biggest issue comes when the employer needs to

My First Shopping Trip
I reminisce the time like it was yesterday, the white tile along the floor as I walked by my mom 's

everything near me. I can just imagine how my pupils dilated from the excitement of all the
beautiful things I saw. At that moment I didn 't realize my first shopping trip would have such an

would this mean so much to me? I was born with an identical twin. For 7 years of my life, I wore the
exact same thing as my sister. I was always known as a twin ,when I picked out my first outfit

ride, but if I can push through whatever I am dealing, it will all be worth it. I believe that this song
would easily connect to every teenager because every teenager has something they are working
through. Almost every teenager has that feeling where they don't know where they are heading in
life and like they are lost somewhere along the pathway from childhood to adulthood. This song is a
clear example of song that teenagers can easily connect to because it helps you learn that someone is
there for you and that everyone has a hard time, but keep on fighting because in the end it will all be

Critique of Fist Stick Knife Gun
The Book "Fist Stick Knife Gun" by Geoffrey Canada is a biographical account of his childhood in
the south Bronx. He and his 4 brothers were raised by only their mother. She would survive on no
more than ten dollars a week. He moved several times as a child until finally landing on union
avenue, the place were many of his life lessons were learned and at times applied. He learned about
the ranking process of kids on union Ave. and how the only way to improve your status was to use
your fists to fight your way up the chain. Looking back Geoffrey Canada notices the major shift in
attitudes concerning the rules of the streets. What once was ... Show more content on

The lower categories were the early teens and the pre teens. The early teens were just learning the
rules whereas the pre teens couldn't go off of the sidewalk. Geoffrey belonged to the lowest rung,
the sidewalk group. As time went on he got in many fights, sometimes with friends just to dig
himself out of the bottom group. He soon became the kid not to challenge because he learned how to
fight.
The next was "Stick". Their wasn't much mention of this phase in his life, but he does mention the
fact that in certain circumstances, a broken bottle or a stick can be used in self defense when the
opponent uses a weapon. The place where this would happen is at school. The rules of the streets
still applied but the problem was many different "gangs" associated and congregated at his junior
high. So everyone their follows different rules, some "gangs" might think the use of weapons is
acceptable, so Union Ave. people have to adjust these circumstances and use a stick or a broken
bottle to defend themselves. As he grew even older he began to notice other gangs tendencies of
carrying knives. He realized that this fact changed the code of conduct. No longer would be a good
fist fighter keep you from confrontation. Even the most unskilled fighter could win a fight and be on
top if they knew how to swing a blade. One day Geoffrey lucked out, because he found an old

Analysis Of Zora Neale Hurston 's Sweat
Sofia Kaiser
Ms. Menchoca
M–W @ 12 Sweat by Zora Neale Hurston Marriage is a big idea that our nation takes remarkably
for granted. It is not something one can back out of easily. Once someone vows them self to one
another, there is no way back. In Zora Neale Hurston's short story "Sweat" she tells the story of
Delia, a washerwoman. Who marries a man named Sykes, In the first part, you can easily see that he
mistreats her. In the opening paragraph, he throws a snake like figure over Delia's shoulders. She
scolds him later for it. This image shown by Zora Neale Hurston is not coincidental. her husband
Sykes is being shown as a very commanding figure. Later on in the story. Her Husband begins to go
out with other women. He later tries to attempt to kill her. Only, In the hopes of marrying one of the
mistresses he has been seeing. As you continue on reading "Sweat", Hurston starts making you look
through a feminist and historical lens. She Illustrates the idea of a society full of sexism. A society
full of men exploiting and breaking down women... until the men have gotten enough use out of
them and they move on.
Delia has had to make an enormous amount of sacrifices just to provide for Sykes and herself, due
to her poor financial situation. Sykes being the person who "wore the pants" in the home, never
acknowledges her work or appreciates it. Instead he torments her about working on a Sunday. The
Holy Day. He always expects her to treat him like the be all. Since

The Negative Effects Of Technology And Its Effects On Our...

  • 1. The Negative Effects Of Technology And Its Effects On Our... As we go into the future we see that computers are not going anywhere and are becoming more and more prevalent throughout our society. The big question is whether or not this is helping or hurting us. Man dates back over twenty thousand years ago, and we are always advancing. During the early years when we were first starting to forming colonies on new land we notice that guns helped to give us and edge. New technology is what helped found this country. Nowadays we look at cell phones and internet and how we are able to communicate with people all the way on the other side of the world with ease. Without technology like cellphones, laptops, and tablets we would not be able to communicate so fast and easily. Others argue that this is why our society is corrupt and that cellphones, computers, and new technology is the root of this evil. They believe that machines are what cause people to become fat, and that games are making children angry. These are also the same people that say the internet is making it easier for children to access things that they shouldn't see. The International Journal of Obesity says that "The prevalence of overweight and obesity has increased among children and adolescents, as well as among adult, and television viewing has been suggested as one cause. Playing digital games (video, computer and console games), or using computer may be other sedentary behaviors related to the development of overweight and obesity." • 3. Negative Essay : How Social Media Affects Society The media affects society in a number of different ways; not all are bad either. Some media affects society in a positive way. Most of the time though, the negative aspects of media out way the positive aspects and in turn, this begins to rip society apart and cause disarray throughout it. Some of the good ways that the media affects society is when events like natural disasters or mass shootings occur because people come together to help out their neighbors in hard times. Although, the negative aspects are more commonly seen through fake news and overexposure to children. Overall, the negativity seems to be remembered and spread more often than not. Over the generations, media has changed the everyday life of human beings. Even as early as the mid 1800's when the Ku Klux Klan was formed, the public opinion swayed us to make decisions based on what everyone else thinks. Movies, social media, public gatherings have all made the public watch what they say and who they say it around. There may not have been social media like there is today back in the 1800's, but people were still influenced by others over certain topics. Opinions on certain things use to get one in a lot of trouble, and just looking at the wrong person could get one killed, which is still present nowadays. Consider politicians, one vote has the power to change everything. One negative comment made on social media can change a whole election, a whole term. The power of changing the future is really in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. To Give is To Receive The idea of giving has been around since biblical times. Its quoted in the bible over (2000 times). Through the centuries, although it has maintained it's initial roots of helping thy neighbor, it has evolved into a significant multi–billion dollar business, and has been well accepted by the general public. Giving is world word in acceptance, and crosses all civilized borders. The Federal Government has recognized the importance of charitable giving in (xxxx) in the tax code by developing the 501–3C, which has become the biggest vehicle in which "givers" use to access their charitable organization. The need for Charity Minutes is simple. Charities are looking for ways to become sustainable, which means for the most part they must seek alternative means for raising funds. The once or twice a year (chicken dinner) fund raising event, the silent auction, and the annual golf tournament, although sometimes successful, will not sustain them. Aid and grants from local government has reached an all time low. Their influential board of directors of doctors, attorneys, Indian chiefs and leaders of business, have less time to spend on boards, and have more difficulty with the goals of attaining those sustainability dollars. Charitable donors now more than ever, are scrutinizing every dollar they give and are asking the question, what are you doing to become sustainable. • 7. My Childhood Experience Everybody has grown up differently. Everybody has different stories, different memories, and different hardships that have shaped who they are as a person. When most people think of their childhood they think of family night board games. They think of running off to the park with their best friends, laughing on swingsets and hopping scotch until they were out of breath. They have memories of vacations, funny stories at family gatherings, or that one time they fell of their bike and their dad carried them home and put on a bandaid and made all the pain go away. When I think of my childhood, I think of two defining events fairly early on that will stick with me forever. I think of the first time I found out we were finally going to Chuck E. ... My mom, Paxtin and I took an unexpected trip to Idaho the next day to "visit family". When we came home, all of my dad's stuff was gone. In an instant, my life had changed. I have no memory of my mom and dad being together and being happy. Just the terrible things that led up to their divorce. The fact that when I thought back to my childhood and all I could remember were the sad and depressing moments made me turning to photography. As soon as I got my 3rd generation iPod touch for Christmas in 2012, I was obsessed with taking pictures. I would take pictures of anything that i found beauty in. I didn't care that it wasn't the best quality or I didn't know the right angles. I knew I would learn and upgrade and that in the meantime, I would document everything on my shitty iPod camera in hopes to make up for all the lost memories. I would grow to use photography as a tool to cope with a dreadful, fleeting childhood, emotionally hard times I went through, and my biggest fears in life. In no way am I trying to say I had the worst childhood I possibly could've had. Mixed with all the bad was some good. • 9. My First Year Of Middle School Essay Walking through the double doors of school and to my very first locker, I took a breath and realized this was a new stage in my life. A new stage in life meant new people, experiences, and problems– especially problems. I wore questionably clean, wrinkled clothes, ready to start my first year of middle school. The amount of kids in my class multiplied tenfold with over 250 students. The year prior, I had plenty of friends, and couldn't have been happier. However, with the additional 200 students, and problems at home flourishing, I never realized until then how alone I actually was. While walking to my first class I caught several glares from different classmates, some of whom used to be good friends of mine. Once I got to my seat, I quickly sat down and pulled my worn out hoodie over my face, shutting the world out. Although the world seemed so cold, things weren't always like this. The years leading up to this moment were much different. Anyone that met me knew I was always a social butterfly. Wherever I went, I had a friend to talk to. If I didn't have a friend to talk to, I would make some. Making friends was as easy as breathing and just came naturally to me. My ability to make friendships had no boundaries. There were many times in my childhood that we went on vacation to Myrtle Beach. Every time we went on vacation, I insisted on meeting everyone staying near our condo. By the end of the first day staying there, everyone knew my name. We couldn't walk anywhere ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Tips For A Successful Career What should you do to forge a successful, gratifying career? Briefly explain each of the four dimensions that should be considered. Where do you need to improve? What is your plan to accomplish your improvement? To forge a successful career you should be a specialist, a generalist, self–reliant , connected and also be able to actively manage your relationship with your organization and be able to survive and thrive in the world. According to the text it is said you should be a specialist and a generalist, since in your career you do not just want to be a specialist, you want to advance up and get into higher positions in which your responsibility increases, you will deal with more people and and understand if not all at least more areas of the organization. To be a specialist you need to be skillful expert in a particular valuable area which will help give the firm and the customers a more concrete and knowledgable value. To be a generalist means to have a wide range of knowledge about diverse areas in the organization. To be self–reliant means to be autonomous and take responsibility for your own actions. As a human who wants to grow it is our duty to go the extra mile and do what is necessary to grow without the help of a boss or a company, we must try to be entrepreneurs and take risk and see where we make mistakes, work hard towards improving those mistakes via practise and rise upwards. To be connected means to have a lot of good relations with clients and people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although I have never committed to nippers on the weekend or general surf life saving but as I have gotten older, I have begun to see the sport as a great way to keep fit while learning the nature of the ocean. Unfortunately due to my lack of access to the beach during my junior years living in Brisbane I have never gained a true passion for the sport. The concepts which will most likely have the greatest impact on my participation in the sport in future years are location and costs. With time allocation already restricted as a student, five and a half hours is far too long to travel. Location as a sporting barrier belongs in the institutional level of figueroa 's framework this is due to the extensive distance between where I will be living and the surf club which will affect my participation in the sport. The institutional level of figueroa's framework is defined as the institutions within society that affect sport and physical activity (Equityinsport, 2014). With next year being the biggest year regarding my organisation and the balancing of certain commitments, the constraint of having to travel for potentially five and a half hours to maintain involvement in surf life saving would mean that my desire to participate would be at an all time low. In appendix 1 it can be seen that the Australian Bureau of Statistics has done a study on constraints that affect participation in sports and physical recreation. In the table the certain parts that are highlighted show that 30.9% of 15–24 year olds don't participate because they aren't interested and a further 36.6% don't due to work and study commitments. By living as a student with time restraints in Brisbane next year, I believe that this will prevent me from wanting to become involved in surf life saving. Hearing this upon entering my class at the start of school is never a good way to start the day. Especially if your teacher is Mrs. Stewart. It was in the middle of my last year in elementary school, and I was already accustomed to Mrs. Stewart's tenacity. She pounced on any student when she got the chance, and today was my lucky day. Mrs. Stewart not only hindered my love for literature, but instead induced a phobia onto me of books. The way she treated my class would get a teacher fired today. Living with my Aunt and Uncle in a farm on the outside of town, I was used to being friendless and lonely, but waking up on my special day and realising everyone had forgotten was and all time low. " Goodmorning," I said to my Aunt, walking into the kitchen. The only reply I received was a slight grunt and the door banging closed as she headed out to the barn. After getting ready for school, I packed my bag and started the walk to the bus stop. The day was beautiful, no sign of the foretold hurricane that was expected and as I whistled I couldn't help but think that today might be an actually pleasant day. Man was I wrong, school was a disaster. I guess that when you forget about the football game in the next town, which the whole school is attending you will be the only one there that day. THe sign on the locked front doors stated that classes would resume as usual on Monday. Great. My day just went from bad to worse. The bus didn't even come until 3, if it was still running. Feeling completely alone but not ready to give up just yet, I treated myself to a cheesy, store bought cake, if Molly Ringwald had her own pity cake, so would I. • 31. My Dragon In Beowulf As humans, we all possess great qualities. We develop memories that we can cherish forever. Hopes and dreams help us strive to do great things. However, we all have our demons that we all tend to conceal. The famous poem "Beowulf" is renowned for the battles against Beowulf and many monsters. The battles in the poem pose as metaphorical battles. Beowulf defeating the monsters represent him trying to overcome his demons. The last battle was between him and a dragon. To the reader's surprise, he lost the battle. The dragon represents Beowulf's greatest demon. Despite the dragons that Beowulf faced that are external, my dragons are more internal. One of the most hellish dragons that I possess is my anxiety. My anxiety has got the best of me most of the time when I was younger. It would be difficult for me to go out with other people. I often found myself isolating myself from the rest of the world. In the poem, "Beowulf", Grendel often hides in his dwelling. "A powerful monster, living down in the darkness, growled in pain, impatient as day after day" (ln 80). Having excessive anxiety has developed into my second dragon which is appearence. My appearance is the most staggering dragon that I have is because it is a dragon I know I can never defeat. This dragon was mostly fueled by words that still haunt me to this day. • 33. Analysis Of Esther By Sylvia Plath The stereotypical survivor could be described as someone who endured grueling physical obstacles, survived and returned to normal life, and developed as a person since then. Sylvia Plath does not fit the typical template of a survivor; she did not physically survive. However, the emotional and mental stress she withstood the ten years prior to her suicide made her just as much of a survivor as anyone who lived to tell their story. Although Plath eventually crumbled under the weight of her deteriorating emotional stability, she persevered for as long as she could until she could take it no longer, making her as strong as anyone who survived a physical challenge. The bell jar was a symbolic representation of her emotional state throughout the novel, whether it be pre–treatment, post–treatment, or pre–suicide. Before her treatment with Dr. Nolan, "Esther", the character name for Sylvia Plath, began a rapid downward spiral beginning while she was still in college, which included a month of no sleep, a withdrawal from social interaction, and several suicide attempts. At this time, the bell jar had closed in on her, suffocating her from the inside. Everything reminded her of death. Esther had tried to drown herself as one of her last suicide attempts before the beginning of her treatment, and prior to her attempt she noticed that "sharks' teeth and whales' earbones littered about down there like gravestones" (Plath 153). • 37. Stereotype Stereotypes In a world full of stereotypes, people tend to follow the path that they are subjected to. While there is the few that rise against the unrelenting categorization, most, without knowledge of it, represent their group decently well. Take the classic attention seeker for example. Whether or not they deny their otherwise inappropriate behavior, the signs are all present. They say, "Did you see my new bag? It's Gucci." While my internal reaction is "Are you finished yet? This is ridiculous." The reaction that they seek is one that I am not willing to give. This important standoffish attitude is just what makes the world go round. I am constantly in situations where I find myself analyzing a person and placing them in the category that I see fit. Separating and classifying is a part of human nature because of our internal need to create a certain kind of order in society. Without this variety of personalities, wants, and beliefs put into a sequence, our personal understandings of others would be far too limited. Here, are four well–known types of people groups that in one instance or another have been encountered by everyone. The Poser The poser, also known as "the fake"; can be easily pronounced as one of, if not the most frustrating person. The constant spiel of false accusations and misdirected attitudes can eventually cause any sane person to go nuts. Though, their strong ability to hide what is really there is quite impressive from an outside standpoint. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The story, written in 1957 carries a vital social message for us today. It tells of two black brothers' struggle to understand one another. The older brother, a well–off Harlem algebra teacher, is the unnamed narrator. The younger man is Sonny, a jazz pianist who, when the story opens, has just been arrested for peddling and using heroin. The narrator acts and feels awkward, wanting only to hear that Sonny is safe and refusing to accept the fact that he might not be. Through this we realize that the two brothers finally have an understanding for each other. Although the understanding is limited, it grows immensely throughout the story. In the flashbacks the narrator recalls events that bring together the past, present, and future. We learn of another pair of brothers, Sonny's father and uncle. The uncle, like Sonny, was a musician, but he was killed one night after being run over by some drunken white men. Parallels are drawn between both their father and uncle and Sonny. The narrator's mother makes this apparent when she tells him, "I ain't telling you all this to make you scared or bitter or to make you hate nobody. I'm telling you this because you got a brother. The Cost Of The United States An increase in the number of vacation days or limiting the hours worked in a week by the government may increase the quality of life by providing more leisure time. However, the overall quality of life would struggle because in this day and age one has to have money to have a good time. Recently after much debate, the French eliminated their 35–hour workweek limit with strong justifiable arguments by both parties. The law was first put in place in 2000 due impart to the unemployment rate that was around 10% at the time. Ethical Hazards While agreeing that with the elimination of the law, restrictions should still be enforced to protect workers from exploitation by their employers. Giving companies more of an edge in their industries by tampering with the workweek hours could become a slippery slop. The 35–hour week was not just 35 hours and everyone goes home it's like the standard 40–hour week the United States recognizes. My doubts have always gotten me out of trouble. There was a time in 4th grade when a group of my neighborhood friends proposed an exploration into the abandoned house's closed and shackled backyard. In our defense, the gate wasn't thoroughly locked and I didn't some ravenous dog foaming at the mouth waiting to attack in the blink of an eye. Wouldn't you know it, the next day those tiny rebels went back again but, being the smart little pessimist I am I had a feeling it would be best to stay behind and play with chalk on the sidewalk by my dad's house. Later, I found out that the new couple who had just recently purchased the long–grassed and rusty estate had noticed some scrawny children sneaking a peek at their backyard and decided to have a policeman talk some sense into those hellions. There was a time I didn't understand myself, because of this misunderstanding I decided it was easier to hate myself in that moment. I can say that I have come so far from that in the past year and a half. Becoming more in tune with myself and learning to love me in a healthy way. This is my journey to finding myself. My heart wrenching odyssey all started at the end of my junior year of high school. I had just gotten out of a heavy relationship with someone who didn't care about me from the beginning. I got up at 7:45, got ready and walked to school, went to 1st hour, and then at the end of the day I went to the library to tell my mom (Kelly Snyder; the librarian at my old school) that I was going to walk home when she told me that grandpa was in the hospital. I didn't think much of it at the time. When I got home I asked my dad (Damon Snyder) what was wrong with grandpa and he said," I'm not sure yet but I'll let you know when I find out." I replied with,"ok." The next day, (Saturday) my dad had told me that grandpa was getting worse and that at night grandpa pulled out his I.V. and his catheter, so they had to tape up his hands so he wouldn't pull out the tubes. So my dad decided that we should go visit him. On the way to the hospital I was feeling sorry for him and grandma but i ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 53. To Kill A Mockingbird Symbolism Essay In Harper Lee's novel To Kill a Mockingbird, the fire in chapter 8 symbolizes a form of prejudice as it burns down the snowman. A lot of the symbolism in this book stems from the prejudice taking place against the black population in Indiana. Some of this is issued when it snows for the first time since 1885. The children make a snowman out of leftover snow and some dirt. This represents the teamwork between the Finch family and the black community. The snow brings out the innocence of children. During chapter 8 of To Kill a Mockingbird, Maycomb has had the coldest winter since 1885. Since it hasn't snowed in over 45 years, people all around are confused and excited. Scout and Jem decide to go outside and they make a snowman out of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scout and Jem know that it isn't right what happened to Tom, and it shows how innocent the two are and how they couldn't do anything to stop it, just like the house fire. The fire burning down the snow represents the rare occurrences that are going on in Maycomb during this year. One of the major events is the snow that hasn't been seen since 1885, which astonishes all of Maycomb, especially Scout and Jem. On page 86, Scout says, "Next morning I awoke, looked out the window and nearly died of fright. My screams brought Atticus from his bathroom half–shaven." With the snow appearing in the town, temperatures drop to an all time low, with everyone on the block leaving their fireplaces open to warm their house. The fireplace catches on fire in Miss Maudie's house, starting the fire. The fire eventually spread to different houses, lighting up the whole street. Fire trucks came in from different towns, because of the intensity. People from the neighborhood came in to get all of the furniture out. The children marvel at the glowing flames. They realize that this doesn't happen very often. When do house fires occur during the winter? Another rare thing to happen is the trial lasting so long. During this time, almost every case involving a black person would result in them being guilty, whether they really were innocent or not. The prejudice was so severe that when the trial ... Analysis Of Meghan Trainor 's All About That Bass The music industry nowadays is becoming more and more overloaded with songs orientated around, how to charm a man, what it takes to get a man and of course how compete and outshine another female for a man. However whilst being initially happy that Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass" became so very popular in receiving praise for encouraging women to celebrate and embrace their curves; the chart topper become an almost 'girl power' anthem on a positive body image, which in my opinion is needed and long overdue in times like these. Trainor's effort stands out, taking the top spot in 27 countries around the world, racking up an impressive 1.6 million views on YouTube. This was however until I was past the catchy, bubble–gum pink tune and addictive baseline and paid closer attention to the lyrics of Trainor 's clever marketing ploy, it 's clear to see that "All About That Bass" is as far from a feminist anthem as they come and unfortunately altered my interpretation that in fact that Trainor was feeding young girls a negative perception of what is expected of them and their bodies, as they are brought up alongside the pressures of today 's media driven and highly influenced society. The lyrics made me upset, annoyed, angry and a little embarrassed all at the same time. While I applaud Trainor for her efforts in encouraging women to embrace their bodies, I remained to be blind in seeing the need, or even understand why she mixed these messages with body–shaming and ... Still others call a job bad because it requires a long commute or a great deal of time sitting behind a desk. It really depends on who you are and what you value and enjoy." A miserable job differs from a bad job because instead of disliking parts of your job you job is physically and emotionally draining you. I had learned as far back as the 1700s but I still had not found what I really wanted to know. When I did the reading for "The Golden Age of Islamic Thought and Its Cultural Impact on Europe" my question was finally answered. During the "Dark Ages" Europe was at its all time low in allowance of intellectual thinking. The sad thing being people were really dictating the way you think! While this was happening Islam was thriving in more ways than one in the 1,000s I had always wondered about. The historians and philosophers from Europe have denied Islam the credit that it really deserves for the development of modern culture. One thing that is stupidly ignored is their impact on mathematics. In today's modern word there is more math than you could ever imagine, very difficult math at that. None of this would have truly been possible if it wasn't for Islam's contributions but Europe will always turn their heads to this fact. Coffey's manager, Monique Ricard, is contemplating how to handle Coffey's behaviour, who has been consistently late to work, is missing deadlines, and even not showing up to work. Ricard is looking for an answer as to how she can possibly terminate or transfer Coffey, as his behaviour has not been documented sufficiently. Coffey consistently arrives at work late, and takes extended breaks. Coffey has even gone so far as to set an alarm for when his breaks begin and when he can go home. Coffey's tardiness reached a new pinnacle when he failed to show up to work for a Monday and part of a Tuesday, without informing Ricard of his absence. The most alarming concern Coffey poses to the R.R.C. is his attitude towards meeting deadlines. Consistently Coffey either submits work just before or after the required deadlines for assignments. Ricard has confronted Coffey several times about his behaviour, and Coffey, stubborn to change, refuses to believe he needs to improve. Another major problem the R.R.C. is facing is an issue experienced by many government offices. Job security is basically ensured at the R.R.C. and the process to terminate an employee is extensive and time consuming. All efforts must be taken to first make a reasonable effort to assist the employee in improving their performance. If the employee can't perform the duties of their position, an effort must be made to move them to a position they are capable of performing. If the employee is incompetent for any available position, only then can an employee be terminated. The biggest issue comes when the employer needs to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
