Nursing Shortage For The Health Care Delivery System
Nursing Shortage in America In 1960, Virginia Avenel Henderson a nurse and a theorist in the same
time, defined nursing, the unique function of the nurse is to assist the individual, sick or well, in the
performance of those activities contributing to health or its recovery (or to a peaceful death) that he
would perform unaided if he had the necessary strength, will or knowledge. And to do this in such a
way as to help him gain independence as rapidly as possible . It is a noble function and to be fulfilled
at the highest levels, it takes time, patience and the devotion. When the number of people given this
care is much lower than that of people who must receive the care, then a crisis occurs. The
phenomenon is acute not only in America but all around the world. Even if the nursing is considered a
meaningful work, the country is facing a nursing shortage that grows more with each passing year.
Nursing shortages in America affect all parts of the health care delivery system. The nursing
profession is a challenge. As a nurse, you must remember every day that you can both alleviate
suffering patients by administering treatment prescribed by a doctor and by a good word and a smile.
For a good nurse should not matter how hard the day was, how much trouble it encountered, but must
remember the core values of the profession and why he/she chose this profession. Nurses play an
important role in the healthcare system. This is why they have been correctly referred to as the heart

Analysis Of Steven Brill s Are We Any Safer
In Steven Brill s Are We Any Safer, an article which appeared in the September 2016 issue of The
Atlantic, the rhetor attempts to educate the audience on the issue of post 9/11 security, and weather or
not it has improved safety or not. The author makes his rhetorical response effective by using ethos,
pathos, and logos to appeal to the audience. Ethos is the credibility of the rhetor, an essential part to
any rhetorical response. No audience would waste their time listening to an unclarified rhetore. Pathos
is emotional appeal, this can be used to influence the audience s opinion, or to gain solid audience
engagement. Logos is the logical appeal of the response. Does the piece make sense to the audience?
If logos is lacking the rhetor has failed. In Steven Brill s article, he expertly balances resources and
constraints, while using ethos, pathos, and logos to write a fitting response to the exigence of post 9/11
security efforts.
In Steven Brill s Are We Any Safer, the exigence of the response is whether or not post 9/11 security
precautions have been effective or not. Brill makes this clear by comparing and contrasting security
pre and post 9/11. Brill says that on september 11th there were 16,000 poorly trained... private
screeners (62). As compared to today s 46,000 screeners, almost all federal employees, trained by the
Transportation Security Administration (62). This is just one of countless comparisons the rhetor
makes throughout the article. The real issue

Organic Chemistry Lab Report
CHEM 2123 and 2125 Organic Chemistry Lab I and II GUIDELINES FOR WRITING LAB
REPORTS INTRODUCTION Writing reports in organic chemistry lab may differ from the way it s
done in general chemistry. One goal of this course is to introduce you to the record keeping methods
used in research labs. Such methods are designed to organize experimental data in a format similar to
that required for publication in major scientific journals. Here are some important considerations that
apply in research settings. 1. Your work is unique, meaning that you might be the only person
performing certain experiments. 2. Research is an ongoing process. The projects assigned to you will
likely continue after you leave. People assigned to those projects will need ... Show more content on

Examples are the determination of physical constants such as melting point, boiling point, or density,
and instrumental techniques such as infrared (IR) spectroscopy. Sometimes these techniques are
referred to as analytical techniques. LAB REPORTS FOR CHEMICAL PREPARATIONS, OR
SYNTHESIS This type of report refers to experiments whose main goal is to prepare a pure substance
from specific starting materials. This necessarily involves a chemical transformation, or reaction. In
the simplest case, there is only one step. The starting materials are combined and a product forms.
This product is isolated, purified, and characterized, producing the final outcome of the experiment. In
a multistep synthesis, the product of the first step is used as a starting material in a second step, and so
on, until a final product is obtained. No multistep syntheses are performed in organic lab I. Some two
step syntheses are performed in organic lab II. FORMAT AND GRADING CRITERIA FOR
PRELABS AND LAB REPORTS The general format for most prelabs and lab reports is given below.
Specific differences with examples will be discussed later. You are expected to include the following
items in your lab notebook. All prelabs and lab reports are graded on a 100 point scale with the
following distribution. INDIVIDUAL PRELAB (100 pts) Due at the beginning of each experiment. 1

Bog Bodies
This book informs the reader about bog bodies and how crucial they are to scientists because they re a
journey to the past. Bog bodies are bodies that were deposited in a bog shortly after death, they were
then naturally preserved in the bog. To clarify why they re so important, bog bodies are usually so well
preserved that their skin, intestines and other parts of their body remain. Scientists study them and
they are able to find when they died, using radiocarbon analysis, and how they died which is only
possible it s not a skeleton because certain wounds can only be seen on skin and not on bones. There
was a section in that text that impacted me, it was: With new tests and procedure, with determination
and perhaps some luck, scientists may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scientists look at only a few apparatus to discover additional information about the past, they analyze
fossils, artifacts, preserved bodies, and ancient architecture. With bog bodies gone, that leaves a
miniscule amount of items to study. Artifacts or items belonging to ancient people don t provide
tremendous amounts of information. Additionally, fossils belong to a whole other category, animals
and plants from prehistoric times. Consequently, this doesn t provide information about primitive
culture and don t assist scientists seeking data on primeval civilization. Furthermore, bog bodies are
probably the most complex sources of enlightenment because they can provide clothing, weapons, and
materials of specific eras, as well as informing us about their actions. For instance, of scientists
suspected the person was sacrificed we can conclude that whatever civilization they were from
practiced human sacrifice. In all honesty, bog bodies would be a grand loss because they re far more
intriguing than other artifacts. Considering this, bog bodies supply insight about someone s life and it
simulates reading an autobiography because you find out multitudes of information about the person,
even if they re dead. Another bog body they studied was the Yde Girl, she was found in 1987 in the
Netherlands but she had died 2,000 years earlier. While they were studying her remains, they found at
she had scoliosis, which impairs how you walk because it s a mild spinal curvature. The toes of her
right foot also signified that she might ve been slightly pigeon toed. Scientists also noticed that she
was stabbed and strangled with her on belt, which was left on her neck after death. Perhaps she was
considered undesirable in her society because of her flaws and killed because of this. However, there
are several other ways she could ve died, it could ve been a sacrificial

Trash Andy Mulligan Analysis
Andy Mulligan s Trash deals with challenging issues, including children living in third world
countries and poverty. Mulligan uses language techniques as well as rich characters and setting
descriptions to help educate readers about poverty. Language techniques, such as sensory language
and imagery language, and setting descriptions were used to make the reader feel the impact of these
situations. Mulligan also uses rich characters in the novel to assist in informing the reader about
poverty and issues in third world countries.
Throughout the novel Trash , Andy Mulligan uses language techniques such as imagery to establish
rich settings of Behala. For example, when Mulligan was describing the scene of Smokey Mountain,
Mulligan described the Mountain as, It s a place they call Behala, and it s a rubbish town. Three years
ago it was Smokey Mountain, but Smokey Mountain got so bad that they closed it down and shifted us
along the road. The description Mulligan used about Smokey Mountain gives the reader a clear, rich
image and notes the dangerous condition that Raphael, his friends and family go through. Another
example of imagery, which Mulligan used, is the scene of Rat s (Jun Jun) hole when Mulligan
described the setting of where Rat lived. He described it as The walls and ceiling were damp brick,
and there were cracks everywhere. That was where the rats came in and out, and I guessed there were
nests just on the other side. Mulligan made this simple but very

Summary Of Marrying Absurd By Joan Didion
In the story Marrying Absurd, Joan Didion scrutinizes the Las Vegas wedding industry critically with
the analysis of how ludicrous Las Vegas wedding industry has become. In her articulations, Didion

under harsh lights at a crosswalk standing uneasily in the parking lot of the Frontier as the
photographers take photos of the event. The Church of the West certifies the event by taking the
photos of the bride in a veil and white satin pumps. Most bridegrooms usually have a white dinner
jacket, an attendant, flirtation veil and a carnation nosegay.
Didion being a professional journalist uses her skills to enlighten the readers on the account of aspects
of the Las Vegas wedding. She articulates the extreme sarcasm in the specific wedding events
displaying couples as people getting married for the wrong reasons such as improving their draft
status.Didion laments how the newlyweds value their marriages while her tone disapproving to her

Describe ZailckasIntroduction, And Predisposing Factors To...
1. Describe Zailckas introduction, predisposing factors to alcohol; include 2 specific experiences she
had with drinking.
Koren first started drinking at her friend s summer cottage. She was only fourteen when she took her
first sip of alcohol. That first sip changed her life. She had mentioned that her first sip of alcohol was
with her friend Natalie and compared the experience to deflowering, the same way someone does
when they lose their virginity. She did not like her first taste of Southern Comfort, even though the
look and the smell reminded her of apple cider, spicy yet sweet. After that day, Koren s perspective
changed that led her down a very dangerous unhealthy path towards self destruction. Even though the
taste was bad the way it made her feel made her addicted. She liked the way alcohol made her come
out of her quite shell. It made her bolder and daring, which she liked, especially because of the new
friends and the attention it gave her as a result.
Koren grew up in a society that made it more likely for under aged kids to drink. It was almost part of
the norm for some kids. They all encourage it each other to do it. The day Koren took her first drink,
she went to a party and her and her friends passed around a bottle of alcohol; she noticed that most of
the girls she was surrounded by were confident about what they were doing and she was certain that it
was not their first time. They all were only in eight grade at the time. Koren was also around alcohol

Monohybrid Cross Hypothesis
The results of our monohybrid cross shows that the number of males was higher for having white
eyes, however the difference between the recorded number was not significant. So, we cannot
definitely say due to sex linked inheritance males should have more white. This result shows our chi
square value and we will discuss further what p value that corresponds to that value and what it means
to the aforementioned hypothesis and prediction about the cross. The p value we got for X^2 0.362 is
between 0.8 and and 0.5 which suggests that the null hypothesis is accepted because we expected
males to have more white eye although due to the non significant difference, the cross is more likely to
be a 1:1 ratio which violates mendelian law of equal segregation. ... Show more content on

After analyzing the data present in the graph and tables for the monohybrid cross, we concluded that
the phenotypic ratio is not a 3:1 but 1:1 ratio because it violates the mendelian law of equal
segregation since we were focusing on the trait being sex linked. This is supported by research carried
out by a scientist named Morgan T. H. in 1910 studied sex limited inheritance in Drosophila for eye
color. He verified his hypothesis by crossing red males (RWX) to white females (WWXX) and the
results showed that all females were red eyed and all males were white eyed. (Morgan, 1910)
Compared to our results, although it wasn t exactly a 50:50 ratio it is significantly close enough to
support the hypothesis that eye color is sex linked since males had more white eyes than females. The
Dihybrid cross also supported the hypothesis of 9:3:3:1 ratio because compared to other research on
dihybrid crosses with wild type and sepia eyes, ebony body the phenotypic ratio was the same because
it followed the law of independent assortment that says that the inheritance of fone allele does not
affect the other. Although that research, also looks at linkage, which we did account for in this specific
lab experiment. (Marshall, 2008) So, it makes that our phenotypic ratio was valid in showing
independent assortment of alleles in drosophila. Overall,

Reflection On Literacy
Analysis
Literacy
As a child, I never had books read to me. It was not really part of the middle class lifestyle in Punjab,
where I was born and lived for 5 years. In Punjab, I completed two years of early education known as
LKG (lower kindergarten) and UKG (upper kindergarten). The school I went to, although a high SES
school, did not have a library where we would go to read picture books. Moreover, the books we did
have for English were a compilation of poems and stories, with very few pictures. Poems or story was
read by the teacher, and then told the moral of the story. Nothing more. Neither was there any
extrapolation nor exploration of character or plots.
Nieto (1992) asserts that the language students bring along impacts their learning, and teachers often
want to take away the student s language and culture. I was often told to speak English at home, and at
home I was told to speak Punjabi. Teachers who want to create equity in class may in fact, by ignoring
differences, by accepting the dominant culture as a norm (Nieto, 1992). Many teachers expect that
students know how to talk books , because it is nature , however it heavily underpinned by nature
(Heath, 1982). Understanding the culture and the type of home literacies students practice in is
imperative in providing the appropriate support for the student. When I first came to Australia, my
teachers thought I had superficial English skills because I was unable to understand literacy the way it
was practiced

American Realist Movement
HAS THE AMERICAN REALIST MOVEMENT LEFT ANY SUBSTANTIAL MARK ON
JURISPRUDENTIAL THOUGHT? We must approach this question in consideration of the fact that
the American Realist movement never purported to formulate a complete theory of law which could
stand alone to tell us what law is. Instead, the basis was that official conduct in dispute settlement in
all kinds of dispute was the focal point for the analysis of the law s impact, facilitating the ability to
make legal predictions based on expected official action. I think that to measure the impact of this type
of thinking on jurisprudential thought, we need to keep in mind how it seeks to differ from other
theory. There are quotations that encompass Realism s ideals very well. ... Show more content on

Even Hart himself admits that, ‘at the fringe of . (law), we should welcome the rule sceptic.
However he masks this with the ‘unquestionably rule governed operations over the vast, central areas
of the law. Most positivists will admit that judicial discretion is inevitable in hard cases, and that
decisions of the common law are posited in the courts, but the important thing for the realist is that
law in it s entirety is a shoreless world of uncertainty. For me, the realist ideal is a tool whereby we
can consider decisions throughout the vast central areas of law that Hart suggests, more than we could
from a positivist or natural law stance. The reason is that if what the realists say is credible, we must
accept that in some or all central cases, a judge can pick from a number of precedents as discussed, in
order to find the one that best fits his predetermined and subjective answer. However, view this from
the positivist outlook, and the whole process fits together nicely. The judge has simply applied a
posited rule and achieved the right outcome subject to a rule of recognition. For both the realist and
the positivist, the decision is law. The difference though, is that realism allows us to think about the
moral dilemmas within the adjudication, whilst positivism does not need to consider any moral
accordance to rationalize its theory. Just considering the argument in this way, it becomes clear that
the realist approach could certainly be said to have more practical

Selective Moutism And Social Anxiety
Humans hold conversations constantly, throughout every day, month, and year of their life. Of course,
the vast majority feel some degree of anxiety when it comes to public speaking, but for others, even
the tiniest of small talk can be cause for fear. This can be attributed to numerous conditions, such as
glossophobia, social anxiety, and selective mutism. Simply put, glossophobia is the fear of public
speaking, rather than the fear of speaking in general, which is generally referred to as social phobia,
and reveals itself in social anxiety. Selective mutism is linked to anxiety, as over 90% of people with
selective mutism also have social phobia, but is defined as a typically childhood disorder characterized

Like previously mentioned, they cover a variety of styles and topics. Performances are designed to
provoke and create drama. As a matter of fact, this way of communication can be directly connected to
both Temple Grandin and Miranda, a 17 year old living with selective mutism. Temple Grandin, an
autistic woman with a deep love for animals, is shown giving eye opening speeches in two scenes of
her movie, one after graduating, and one at a convention. Her words rang true with many and she still
gives speeches today about her passions, much like a slam poet. On the other hand, Miranda has been
living with selective mutism almost her whole life. After joining a performing arts school, though, she
felt more confident and happy. The teen wrote, I felt like part of a family and the people around me
loved the same things as me. Performing taught me how to become a different person, an alter ego if
you want, which helped me in the real world.... I became a different person and discovered who I
really was, not just the shy one who never speaks. In Miranda s case, performing gave her an outlet
and allowed her a reprieve from the constant anxiety she used to feel when socializing. Mab Jones
story was told earlier, and it too attests to the idea that the performing arts, poetry, and spoken word in
general are a valuable outlet for countless

Battles of Lexington and Concord
Introduction
The Battles of Lexington and Concord occurred on 19 April 1775 between the British Regulars and
the Patriot Militia, also known today as Americans, in the Massachusetts towns of Lexington and
Concord. The Battles of Lexington and Concord is often referred to as the Shot Heard Around the
World and the beginning of the American Revolutionary War (Fischer, 1994). The Battles of
Lexington and Concord consisted of in four events: the skirmish in Lexington between the British

The Use of Language to create the setting in The Great Gatsby
How Does F Scott Fitzgerald use Language to create the setting and the atmosphere of this extract?
This extract, which describes Jay Gatsby s extravagant party is a microcosm of the type of seductive
and exciting lifestyle that was lived by those eager to fulfil the American dream in the 1920 s. It shows
how the original dream of happiness, individualism and prosperity has disintegrated into the mere
pursuit of wealth. Fitzgerald himself experienced this type of society and uses symbolism in this

of society. Referring to the novel as a whole, Giltrow David (from Studies in the Novel ) states that

There are a surprising number of options to consider before making a decision about the hardscaping

Safety:
Concrete blocks can be very slippery when wet, but pavers are designed to be non skidding surfaces,
which makes them an excellent choice around pools, on patios, and in walkways... or really anywhere

Cost:
At up to 15 percent less than paver stones, poured concrete slabs may look good on a calculator.

Family is a major part of any child s education. Growing up people often tell each other My mother

For parents to be having such a large concern over whether children s programming is becoming to
sexually inappropriate demonstrates that times are changing and more of this sexual content is being
found. In 2011, a study was completed that found TV was the medium where youth were most likely
to encounter sexual content, with three quarters of kids saying they had seen sexual material there,
which shows that this is becoming an increasing problem (Saskatchewan Prevention Institute, 2012,
pg. 12). Not only are these scenes being included in adolescent shows like Gossip Girl or One Tree
Hill, they are being found in tween shows like Hannah Montana as well as a majority of shows and
movies for children like The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, and Animaniacs. Children being exposed
to these types of media to early is creating effects that can either be informational or detrimental to the
future of a child s life. The author of a study completed at Harvard University, John Hughes, said one
must ask if that is because the culture we live in and the media we consume are forcing more mature
themes, ideas, and issues down the throats of children because the media in the world today is creating
an environment that includes sexual content, violent behaviors and offensive language (2006, pg. 1).

Analysis Of The Two Fridas
Frida Kahlo s The Two Fridas is a manifestation of heartbreak, inner human pain, rejection of
colonialism, and emotional journey. An oil on canvas made in 1939 in the midst of Frida Kahlo s
divorce from Diego Rivera, this painting embodied Frida Kahlo s progression at this time in her life,
dealing with what she is and what she wishes to be; as well as setting out how she wishes to do it. An
ode to melancholy and overcoming adversity, The Two Fridas is a universal, eternal reminder of
human capability. The painting is of two versions of Frida Kahlo, closely gripping hands and sharing
one heart between them. They are dressed in contrary clothing, with the Frida on the left dressed in
modern European garb, while the other to the right is in traditional Mexican clothing. When viewing
the painting, we are immediately attracted to the left Frida, who has nearly all of the light in the
painting shining down on her. Her European clothing, popular in Mexico at the time, feels very
constricting for both the subject and the viewer, specifically the collar grasping her neck so very
tightly. Her upright and fragile stance and her almost limp grasp of the second Frida s is
understandable as we see the gaping hole where her heart should be. The pulsating anatomy of her
wound bleeds into the room, while her face is completely indifferent. A single vein connects the hole
in left Frida to the heart of right Frida. In left Frida s unclenched hand, a delicate pair of scissors,
indicating that she had wretched the heart out of her own bosom. It is this connection that guides us to
the Frida to the right, but not before we notice the background behind them. A gray and cloudy
backdrop that seems to embody Kahlo s emotional state at the time, it is hard to distinguish the right
Frida from its murky depths. A shadow presiding all around her, the right Frida is dressed in a
traditional Mexican dress, with a posture and facial expression completely identical to the other Frida
s. The most eye catching feature of hers, however, is the pulsating heart that the left Frida is lacking
beating out of her chest. This gruesome and oblivious picture is made only more extraordinary when
we make out the object right Frida is

Critical Appreciation Of Adrienne Rich
From working hard to accomplish the high expectations that her parents had always enforced on her,
to outstandingly fulfilling those standards set, Adrienne Rich was able to exceed as not only a feminist
writer but as an activist for women. In her poem Aunt Jennifer s Tigers, and her book Snapshots of a
Daughter In Law, Rich exposes the phases women encounter throughout their life. Subsequently, from
the early influence her parents had on her, to her involvement in other areas, Rich used her voice
highly and became known as one of the most provocative voices throughout women s movements. At
a very young age Rich was brought up by her parents to exceedingly high standards. With both her
parents actively encouraging her to pursue writing her own poetry. Rich held to excel the standards set
by her overtly demanding father. Rich wanted nothing more but approval from him and as soon as she
began to write poetry, her father saw the potential she had in her.
Her father at the young age that he saw her write then went on to supply her with works from great
writers such as Henrik Ibsen, Alfred Lord Tennyson, and poets like Christina Rossetti.
Her father encouraged her to read and write from a very young age and home tutored her. She spent a
great deal of her time in her father s library which was stocked with works of great writers. She
worked hard to fulfil her father s wishes, and by the time she was twenty two, she come out with her
first collection of poems, A Change of

Overseas Study Australian Universities
Explain why overseas study at Australian universities is popular.
In this current modern era of our time, it can be seen that an enormous number of students prefer to
study overseas in Australian universities. For the purpose of this essay, overseas study refers to the act
of travelling beyond your country to receive tertiary education. There are numerous reasons as to why
universities in Australia are popular. Students may choose Australia universities for the high quality
education system, which leads to better job opportunities. Moreover, the student friendly living
conditions within a diverse multi cultural environment.
A primary reason for the rise in popularity of overseas study in Australian universities is the high
quality learning and education techniques. The universities in Australia are not only English speaking
institutes but also supports a different style of learning that requires interaction between peers and
tutors and independent learning. Not only that but they also provide motivation for enhancing an
individual s critical thinking. Such as, tutorial activities and discussion in either pairs or small groups
which call for communication, teamwork and problem solving. Hence, the skills acquired are helpful

The Message of Hate in Babi Yar Essay
The Message of Hate in Yevgeny Yevtushenko s Babi Yar
There are very few people in the world who are willing to go against the popular trends and do what
they feel in their hearts is correct. But Yevgeny Yevtushenko is one of those people. In his poem Babi
Yar, he tells the story of the modern persecution of the Jews, focusing on atrocities like those of the
massacre at Babi Yar and the pogroms at Beilostok, and also the general anti Semitism that killed men
like Dreyfus and pervades the entire Russian people. The poem uses many literary devices, such as
graphic imagery and contrasts, while painting a very clear picture of the scenes of pure horror.
Babi Yar is written in many different voices, all of which, however, have ... Show more content on

He says that he too must be a Jew for he is afraid of what his people and his society have become.
Many years ago, in the ancient days, it would not be such a shock to see the Jews enslaved in Egypt or
crucified as a means of torture and death, but even in modern times the same things are going on he
still has the marks from where the nails pierced him. The author has used classical examples of Jewish
persecution which every one knows is gone in the physical sense, but show how they still exist in the
theoretical aspect, as the persecution is still occurring.
In the next three stanzas, the poem takes the standpoint of three figures whose stories are pertinent
examples of what Yevtushenko is trying to rely in this poem. First the voice of Dreyfus is used, and
the stanza describes how horribly and unfairly he was treated, and how the country and its leaders
turned their backs on him.
There are two important literary devices used in this section. First the author puts the word pettiness
on a line by itself. This is used as a declaration of what the author feels anti Semitism is based on. It is
because of pettiness that Dreyfus was accused and further because of pettiness that he was not
pardoned when it was proven that he had not committed any crime. The next important device is the
description of ladies with their umbrellas. This is an image to the wealthy

Quantitative Positive Disclosures With Quantitative...
Less profitable firms or high debt firms could use SER disclosures to legitimise activities to lenders
and shareholders (Haniffa and Cooke 2005). SERs can be used by managers to frame how Financial
stake holders interpret financial information, specifically to manipulate stakeholders reaction to
disappointing financial reports, by changing the focus and constructing a disconfirmatory effect on the
financial figures (Neu et al., 1998, p.270). Qualitative positive disclosures with quantitative negative
disclosures (Gibbins et al., 1990) can be used as a method to down play managerial incompetence and
persuade financial stakeholders to excuse past mistakes by using their ethical or socially responsible
displays to compensate. This is a contrasting view to legitimacy theory which emphasizes an
organisations need for actions to be perceived by stakeholders as legitimate (Deegan and Unerman,
2011). In this instance, SERs are used as a method to manage a situation when the expectations of
stakeholders are not met. When an organisation fails to be perceived as legitimate, they use SERs to
demonstrate that it can only improve upon its past actions and regain legitimacy.
A factor influencing management to produce SERs would be to attract investment funds and take
advantage of the practical market for ethically responsible investment funds (Deegan, 2002). If an
organisation can demonstrate favourable environmental performance they are more likely to be
approved to join the Dow

The Pros And Cons Of Freedom In America
America has been shaped in many different ways and continues be shaped daily. America is constantly
changing and facing new challenges. However, authors of By the People have four ideas liberty, self
rule, limited government, and equality that they believe are the leading factors in how America is
shaped. These ideas help elaborate on what makes America a strong and withstanding country. These
ideas are the base of America s politics and what makes us a unique country. These four ideas are
constantly being debated between politicians on what the different meanings are. Firstly, liberty can be
defined as the equal freedom from oppression and restriction in a society. Freedom is what the United
States was designed to give most people however it is still being worked on in present day. Freedom is
wanted for all American and is the essential focus in this country. There are two different types of
liberty negative and positive liberty. Both negative and positive liberties can be debated on what is
best for American society. According to Morone and Kersh, negative liberty can be defined as the
freedom from the absence of restraint, (12). Negative liberty position is for the freedom from
restriction of government on what the individual can or should do in society. The only restriction to a
person should be if a person wants to harm another individual. Conservatives and libertarians are
usually in favor of negative liberty. Positive liberty belief is that there should be freedom

Relevancy Of Fleece Ceremony
Thank you for your post on Dave Earley s thoughts on fleece praying and its relevancy in the Church
Age today. In order to understand the relevancy of fleece praying, believers must understand the
purpose of praying. Richard J. Foster shares, Of all spiritual disciplines, prayer is the most central
because it ushers us into perpetual communion with the Father (1998, 33). Prayer is a communication
with our heavenly Father. Jesus shared with the disciples a simple, but powerful interactive prayer
with his disciples. He stated, Pray then in this way: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come. Your will be done... (Matt. 6:9). I agree with you wholeheartedly, God will not

Observing A Cell Culture Was Like Exploring Uncharted...
Observing a cell culture was like exploring uncharted territory I was simply fascinated by it. As I
watched my mentor feed and rinse her osteoblasts, I imagined cells clumping in their container and
multiplying in vitro. Eventually, when the cell line reached its optimal growth rate, the cells were
cryopreserved to be retrieved only months later, leaving me in astonishment. Having the opportunity
to observe and conduct such research procedures enthralls me; through the Metcalf SURF Program, I

What Is The Difference Between Phonetics And Phonology
English linguistics has many specialties. Whereas semantics about sentence interpretation and syntax
is about sentence formation, phonetics and phonology cover the field of sentence utterance. Phonetics
is concerned with how the sounds are produced, transmitted and perceived whereas phonology is
concerned with how sounds function in relation to each other in a language. In what follows we will
discuss the meaning of both phonetics and phonology and show the difference between them in detail.
Phonetics can be describe as the study of the minimal units that make up a language, and it is also a
branch of linguistics that deals with the sounds of speech and their combination, production,
description, and representation by written symbols ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the sounds structure and human speech sounds. Moreover, they are used in language development,
mostly in development of transcription and orthography, and it also said that phonology begins from
where phonetics ends which means that phonology is a continuation of phonetics. Therefore, without
one the other cannot exist. So when we move to the difference between them what will be found is
that Phonetics is the term that for the description and classification of speech sounds whereas
Phonology is the term used for the study of the speech sounds that is used in a particular

Themes In Flowers For Algernon
Daniel Keyes uses a character driven plot to explore themes of God, friendship, and treatment of the
mentally disabled in the novel Flowers for Algernon. By telling the story through Charlie Gordon, the
readers are able to recognize the many inner conflicts and changes that Charlie faces. Over a nine
month period the life of Charlie Gordon is transformed and recalled through a series of progress
reports. The doctors, teachers, and friends that Charlie meets on his journey help him as well as evolve
and transform themselves. In return, the personal thoughts and feelings of the characters help evolve
the plot in its entirety. The main character Charlie Gordon shows the most change and devolvement
over the course of the novel and this is seen in the way he treats the mouse Algernon. The first time
Charlie meets Algernon, they race each other through mazes and each time Algernon wins. Charlie
comes to a conclusion and says, I dint feel bad because I watched Algernon and I lerned how to finish
the amaze even if it takes me a long time. I dint know mice were so smart (Keyes, 8). This shows
Charlie s innocence and kindhearted nature that makes him look for the best in all people and
situations. But as Charlie s intelligence grows so did his feelings towards Algernon in the sense that he
begins to resent him. His impatience to become intelligent is shown when he says, Nothing is
happening. I had lots of tests and differint kinds of races with Algernnon. I hate that mouse. He always
beets me...Those amazes are stoopid (Keyes, 18). The once simple minded man has been transformed
into a more passionate and irritated adult. As he becomes more intelligent he learns that not everyone
is as they seem to be. The people he once thought were his friends used him as the center of
entertainment and jokes. The Professors and Doctors that make him smart are not all knowing and
even make mistakes. Because of this, his bond with Algernon strengthens and they are able to
understand each other in a way nobody else can. As Algernon s state begins to decline, it is Charlie
who is there with him watching him as he is out of control and confused (Keyes, 214). The final
display of their friendship is shown in the following when Charlie

Analyze a Sociological Issue Social Inequality and Minorities in the United States 10/24/2010 In this
course I have learned about different social problems in societies worldwide. Some of these include
poverty, social inequality, discrimination of race and culture, urbanization, and more. After learning all
these subjects and more, I have decided to do my final on social inequality and minorities in the
United States. I chose this particular topic because I have seen this in almost every place have lived. I
find it appalling that minorities are still not treated 100% equal. We as Americans know what
inequality is and know how it is used in our everyday society. I want to explore this topic and show

They have had to deal with numerous inequalities throughout time. After slavery they were not given
equal rights. There were many rights rallies and according to the statistics, they are still not receiving
equal pay. There used to be restaurants that would not serve a person of color and they were even told
they could only sit in the back of buses. Though we have overcome most of this we have not
overcome hate crimes. Every group has encountered unequal or cruel treatment based on nothing more
than a characteristic about them. Though the hate crime rate had dropped in 2007 there was a rise of
anti gay crime. Now with the new election the hate crime rate has risen again. This shows the problem
is not diminishing and that we need to find a way to get this under control. Criminal justice is another
area of social inequality for minorities in the U.S. Getting a fair trial is difficult is one is accused of a
crime that is a stereotype. If a minority is accused of rape, murder, theft, assault, or many other crimes,
it may be hard to get a fair trial if the jury basis the evidence against stereotypes. Another aspect to
this is that minorities are not given as many options as others. If they are in lower income areas, have
less education or just less options general their chances of living a life of crime is high. Our human
instincts

Mr. Timothy Cavendish In Cloud Atlas
It is a well known fact that in the book, Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell, that in Mr. Timothy Cavendish
s (a brokenhearted and troubled man) story he is constantly getting picked and beaten upon by
everyone (teenagers, older people, everyone!) which is especially true and shown in the introduction
of his storyline. Within this novel Mitchell first shows and introduces this chapter with the fact that
poor old Mr.Timothy Cavendish has just been mugged by three teenage girls. How horrid this scene
may be and how embarrassing of an act this must be for an aging man just trying to live his everyday
normal life, which is where we run into another problem; Cavendish refuses to believe and accept that
he is in fact becoming older and has always been a coward in terms of defending himself in any way
whatsoever. Due to the simple fact that Timothy Cavendish is easy bait, easily intimidated, and an
easy target he somehow gets himself sucked up into some sort of sadistic rest home for the elderly,
which consists of all locked doors, no windows, plus a very authoritative and evil head nurse who
seems to be out to get Cavendish for anything she possible can at every waking hour. We can see from

Socialization Of Gender Roles
From the instant we are born, we are born into a world of conformity and obedience. Early in our
lives, we look at authority figures like parents or teachers as these sentinels of guidance, as
omnipotent beings with unwavering precision in their lessons. The concept of socialization is very
perplexed, and it s difficult to identify the variables that shape our development as we grow. As
children, we communicate with the world free of inhibition, and find no fault in any of our actions; we
could throw a tantrum and no one would bat an eye because it is socially acceptable for a child to have
minimal restraint on their emotions. Over the years, we eventually become embedded in the norms of
our culture, and mature to our respective social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While these genderfied roles are entirely different, as a society we constantly fail to recognize these
roles as they appear in front of us. As a result of our systematic training of gender roles, we have
essentially unconsciously accepted that gender roles are okay without even analyzing it (Is Everyone
Really Equal?). As early as childhood we are exposed to various forms of gender roles. Did you know
that 96.8% of teachers in pre school and kindergarten are female (goo.gl/Nb9hpX)? That s not
necessarily a bad thing, it s just strange to realize that one sex can virtually dominate an entire
profession at such a high statistic without anyone asking questions. Some would argue that the female
gender role is economically inferior than that of a man s. It s commonly said that woman only earn
seventy nine cents of every man s dollar, but is this necessarily true? No, it s actually worse. The
statistic of seventy nine cents for every dollar is actually a statistic for white woman. Hispanic woman
earn fifty five cents for every dollar, while Asian woman earn eighty four cents for every dollar. If we
were to average the four major ethnic groups, woman would earn approximately sixty nine cents for
every dollar (https://goo.gl/nGUZRC). While this statistic is actually worse off than the stereotype, I
would also like to point out that this statistic compares the wage of females of FOUR ethnic groups

Integration Of Airpower
Airpower in the United States has had a contentious history and even today still raises a lot of debate.1
Leading up to the Second World War, airpower became a significant component of America s fighting
force. America began to recognize that it had a superior air force and began integrating that
technology as part of its military strategy but not before overcoming significant integration challenges.
Airpower had a decisive effect on the way victory in war is declared. Japan s attack on Pearl Harbor
and the U.S. Army s retaliation on Hiroshima and Nagasaki are testament to the effectiveness of the
utilization of airpower assets. In this example, it was clear that airpower was to become the frontier of
the future despite the difficulties in introducing this culture shift to the U.S. Army.2 During the run up
to the Second World War and during the period of its occurrence till its end, there existed strong
sentiments with regards to how effective airpower would be in the war. There were arguments
regarding its effectiveness with detractors pointing out instances such as Combined Bomber Offensive
in Europe and its failure to win the war. Another point of detraction was that war cannot be won
without ground offensives that lead the way for the airpower assets to strike. In fact, airpower
advantage was not as decisive as praised.3 However, the reasons for difficulty in integration were
more than just those instances. A major talking point during this augmentation of

foreseen injurious effects: (a) which the corporation knowingly and freely performed or brought about

Do you agree or disagree with the statement that the social condition in Honduras and Guatemala are
responsible for misuse of H.B. Fuller s products and that neither the products nor the company is to
blame? The social condition is certainly a main cause; but it does not necessarily take all of the causal
blame. Not only does the social condition factor into the misuse of Fuller s products but also does the
economic factor relate to the issue. The economic condition is certainly not the sole bearer of cause for
the misuse of Fuller s products, either. There are certain players in this unfortunate epidemic that have
not been taken into account. These variables include the retailers, middlemen, and corrupt distributors
who most likely made a profit from selling the glue to the children on the streets. In addition, there
was management among the subsidiary companies who helped produce this product that must have
been aware of this pertinent issue. Who is to say that management never tried to resolve anything, or
even bring up the issue? They probably did, but nothing drastic as cancellation of their product ever
came of it. All in all, the social and economic conditions in Guatemala and Honduras were the primary
reasons why the children resorted to a medium of venting, namely H.B. Fuller s product. Could the
company and its products have intervened to help the dilemma?

  • 2. Nursing Shortage For The Health Care Delivery System Nursing Shortage in America In 1960, Virginia Avenel Henderson a nurse and a theorist in the same time, defined nursing, the unique function of the nurse is to assist the individual, sick or well, in the performance of those activities contributing to health or its recovery (or to a peaceful death) that he would perform unaided if he had the necessary strength, will or knowledge. And to do this in such a way as to help him gain independence as rapidly as possible . It is a noble function and to be fulfilled at the highest levels, it takes time, patience and the devotion. When the number of people given this care is much lower than that of people who must receive the care, then a crisis occurs. The phenomenon is acute not only in America but all around the world. Even if the nursing is considered a meaningful work, the country is facing a nursing shortage that grows more with each passing year. Nursing shortages in America affect all parts of the health care delivery system. The nursing profession is a challenge. As a nurse, you must remember every day that you can both alleviate suffering patients by administering treatment prescribed by a doctor and by a good word and a smile. For a good nurse should not matter how hard the day was, how much trouble it encountered, but must remember the core values of the profession and why he/she chose this profession. Nurses play an important role in the healthcare system. This is why they have been correctly referred to as the heart ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of Steven Brill s Are We Any Safer In Steven Brill s Are We Any Safer, an article which appeared in the September 2016 issue of The Atlantic, the rhetor attempts to educate the audience on the issue of post 9/11 security, and weather or not it has improved safety or not. The author makes his rhetorical response effective by using ethos, pathos, and logos to appeal to the audience. Ethos is the credibility of the rhetor, an essential part to any rhetorical response. No audience would waste their time listening to an unclarified rhetore. Pathos is emotional appeal, this can be used to influence the audience s opinion, or to gain solid audience engagement. Logos is the logical appeal of the response. Does the piece make sense to the audience? If logos is lacking the rhetor has failed. In Steven Brill s article, he expertly balances resources and constraints, while using ethos, pathos, and logos to write a fitting response to the exigence of post 9/11 security efforts. In Steven Brill s Are We Any Safer, the exigence of the response is whether or not post 9/11 security precautions have been effective or not. Brill makes this clear by comparing and contrasting security pre and post 9/11. Brill says that on september 11th there were 16,000 poorly trained... private screeners (62). As compared to today s 46,000 screeners, almost all federal employees, trained by the Transportation Security Administration (62). This is just one of countless comparisons the rhetor makes throughout the article. The real issue ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Organic Chemistry Lab Report CHEM 2123 and 2125 Organic Chemistry Lab I and II GUIDELINES FOR WRITING LAB REPORTS INTRODUCTION Writing reports in organic chemistry lab may differ from the way it s done in general chemistry. One goal of this course is to introduce you to the record keeping methods used in research labs. Such methods are designed to organize experimental data in a format similar to that required for publication in major scientific journals. Here are some important considerations that apply in research settings. 1. Your work is unique, meaning that you might be the only person performing certain experiments. 2. Research is an ongoing process. The projects assigned to you will likely continue after you leave. People assigned to those projects will need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Examples are the determination of physical constants such as melting point, boiling point, or density, and instrumental techniques such as infrared (IR) spectroscopy. Sometimes these techniques are referred to as analytical techniques. LAB REPORTS FOR CHEMICAL PREPARATIONS, OR SYNTHESIS This type of report refers to experiments whose main goal is to prepare a pure substance from specific starting materials. This necessarily involves a chemical transformation, or reaction. In the simplest case, there is only one step. The starting materials are combined and a product forms. This product is isolated, purified, and characterized, producing the final outcome of the experiment. In a multistep synthesis, the product of the first step is used as a starting material in a second step, and so on, until a final product is obtained. No multistep syntheses are performed in organic lab I. Some two step syntheses are performed in organic lab II. FORMAT AND GRADING CRITERIA FOR PRELABS AND LAB REPORTS The general format for most prelabs and lab reports is given below. Specific differences with examples will be discussed later. You are expected to include the following items in your lab notebook. All prelabs and lab reports are graded on a 100 point scale with the following distribution. • 5. Bog Bodies This book informs the reader about bog bodies and how crucial they are to scientists because they re a journey to the past. Bog bodies are bodies that were deposited in a bog shortly after death, they were then naturally preserved in the bog. To clarify why they re so important, bog bodies are usually so well preserved that their skin, intestines and other parts of their body remain. Scientists study them and they are able to find when they died, using radiocarbon analysis, and how they died which is only possible it s not a skeleton because certain wounds can only be seen on skin and not on bones. There was a section in that text that impacted me, it was: With new tests and procedure, with determination and perhaps some luck, scientists may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scientists look at only a few apparatus to discover additional information about the past, they analyze fossils, artifacts, preserved bodies, and ancient architecture. With bog bodies gone, that leaves a miniscule amount of items to study. Artifacts or items belonging to ancient people don t provide tremendous amounts of information. Additionally, fossils belong to a whole other category, animals and plants from prehistoric times. Consequently, this doesn t provide information about primitive culture and don t assist scientists seeking data on primeval civilization. Furthermore, bog bodies are probably the most complex sources of enlightenment because they can provide clothing, weapons, and materials of specific eras, as well as informing us about their actions. For instance, of scientists suspected the person was sacrificed we can conclude that whatever civilization they were from practiced human sacrifice. In all honesty, bog bodies would be a grand loss because they re far more intriguing than other artifacts. Considering this, bog bodies supply insight about someone s life and it simulates reading an autobiography because you find out multitudes of information about the person, even if they re dead. Another bog body they studied was the Yde Girl, she was found in 1987 in the Netherlands but she had died 2,000 years earlier. While they were studying her remains, they found at she had scoliosis, which impairs how you walk because it s a mild spinal curvature. The toes of her right foot also signified that she might ve been slightly pigeon toed. Scientists also noticed that she was stabbed and strangled with her on belt, which was left on her neck after death. Perhaps she was considered undesirable in her society because of her flaws and killed because of this. However, there are several other ways she could ve died, it could ve been a sacrificial ... • 6. Trash Andy Mulligan Analysis Andy Mulligan s Trash deals with challenging issues, including children living in third world countries and poverty. Mulligan uses language techniques as well as rich characters and setting descriptions to help educate readers about poverty. Language techniques, such as sensory language and imagery language, and setting descriptions were used to make the reader feel the impact of these situations. Mulligan also uses rich characters in the novel to assist in informing the reader about poverty and issues in third world countries. Throughout the novel Trash , Andy Mulligan uses language techniques such as imagery to establish rich settings of Behala. For example, when Mulligan was describing the scene of Smokey Mountain, Mulligan described the Mountain as, It s a place they call Behala, and it s a rubbish town. Three years ago it was Smokey Mountain, but Smokey Mountain got so bad that they closed it down and shifted us along the road. The description Mulligan used about Smokey Mountain gives the reader a clear, rich image and notes the dangerous condition that Raphael, his friends and family go through. Another example of imagery, which Mulligan used, is the scene of Rat s (Jun Jun) hole when Mulligan described the setting of where Rat lived. Koren first started drinking at her friend s summer cottage. She was only fourteen when she took her first sip of alcohol. That first sip changed her life. She had mentioned that her first sip of alcohol was with her friend Natalie and compared the experience to deflowering, the same way someone does when they lose their virginity. She did not like her first taste of Southern Comfort, even though the look and the smell reminded her of apple cider, spicy yet sweet. After that day, Koren s perspective changed that led her down a very dangerous unhealthy path towards self destruction. Even though the taste was bad the way it made her feel made her addicted. She liked the way alcohol made her come out of her quite shell. It made her bolder and daring, which she liked, especially because of the new friends and the attention it gave her as a result. Koren grew up in a society that made it more likely for under aged kids to drink. It was almost part of the norm for some kids. They all encourage it each other to do it. The day Koren took her first drink, she went to a party and her and her friends passed around a bottle of alcohol; she noticed that most of the girls she was surrounded by were confident about what they were doing and she was certain that it was not their first time. Monohybrid Cross Hypothesis The results of our monohybrid cross shows that the number of males was higher for having white eyes, however the difference between the recorded number was not significant. So, we cannot definitely say due to sex linked inheritance males should have more white. The p value we got for X^2 0.362 is between 0.8 and and 0.5 which suggests that the null hypothesis is accepted because we expected males to have more white eye although due to the non significant difference, the cross is more likely to be a 1:1 ratio which violates mendelian law of equal segregation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After analyzing the data present in the graph and tables for the monohybrid cross, we concluded that the phenotypic ratio is not a 3:1 but 1:1 ratio because it violates the mendelian law of equal segregation since we were focusing on the trait being sex linked. This is supported by research carried out by a scientist named Morgan T. H. in 1910 studied sex limited inheritance in Drosophila for eye color. He verified his hypothesis by crossing red males (RWX) to white females (WWXX) and the results showed that all females were red eyed and all males were white eyed. (Morgan, 1910) Compared to our results, although it wasn t exactly a 50:50 ratio it is significantly close enough to support the hypothesis that eye color is sex linked since males had more white eyes than females. The Dihybrid cross also supported the hypothesis of 9:3:3:1 ratio because compared to other research on dihybrid crosses with wild type and sepia eyes, ebony body the phenotypic ratio was the same because it followed the law of independent assortment that says that the inheritance of fone allele does not affect the other. In Punjab, I completed two years of early education known as LKG (lower kindergarten) and UKG (upper kindergarten). The school I went to, although a high SES school, did not have a library where we would go to read picture books. We must approach this question in consideration of the fact that the American Realist movement never purported to formulate a complete theory of law which could stand alone to tell us what law is. Instead, the basis was that official conduct in dispute settlement in all kinds of dispute was the focal point for the analysis of the law s impact, facilitating the ability to make legal predictions based on expected official action. I think that to measure the impact of this type of thinking on jurisprudential thought, we need to keep in mind how it seeks to differ from other theory. Most positivists will admit that judicial discretion is inevitable in hard cases, and that decisions of the common law are posited in the courts, but the important thing for the realist is that law in it s entirety is a shoreless world of uncertainty. For me, the realist ideal is a tool whereby we can consider decisions throughout the vast central areas of law that Hart suggests, more than we could from a positivist or natural law stance. The reason is that if what the realists say is credible, we must accept that in some or all central cases, a judge can pick from a number of precedents as discussed, in order to find the one that best fits his predetermined and subjective answer. However, view this from the positivist outlook, and the whole process fits together nicely. The judge has simply applied a posited rule and achieved the right outcome subject to a rule of recognition. For both the realist and the positivist, the decision is law. The difference though, is that realism allows us to think about the moral dilemmas within the adjudication, whilst positivism does not need to consider any moral accordance to rationalize its theory. An oil on canvas made in 1939 in the midst of Frida Kahlo s divorce from Diego Rivera, this painting embodied Frida Kahlo s progression at this time in her life, dealing with what she is and what she wishes to be; as well as setting out how she wishes to do it. An ode to melancholy and overcoming adversity, The Two Fridas is a universal, eternal reminder of human capability. The painting is of two versions of Frida Kahlo, closely gripping hands and sharing one heart between them. They are dressed in contrary clothing, with the Frida on the left dressed in modern European garb, while the other to the right is in traditional Mexican clothing. When viewing the painting, we are immediately attracted to the left Frida, who has nearly all of the light in the painting shining down on her. Her European clothing, popular in Mexico at the time, feels very constricting for both the subject and the viewer, specifically the collar grasping her neck so very tightly. Her upright and fragile stance and her almost limp grasp of the second Frida s is understandable as we see the gaping hole where her heart should be. Less profitable firms or high debt firms could use SER disclosures to legitimise activities to lenders and shareholders (Haniffa and Cooke 2005). SERs can be used by managers to frame how Financial stake holders interpret financial information, specifically to manipulate stakeholders reaction to disappointing financial reports, by changing the focus and constructing a disconfirmatory effect on the financial figures (Neu et al., 1998, p.270). Qualitative positive disclosures with quantitative negative disclosures (Gibbins et al., 1990) can be used as a method to down play managerial incompetence and persuade financial stakeholders to excuse past mistakes by using their ethical or socially responsible displays to compensate. This is a contrasting view to legitimacy theory which emphasizes an organisations need for actions to be perceived by stakeholders as legitimate (Deegan and Unerman, 2011). In this instance, SERs are used as a method to manage a situation when the expectations of stakeholders are not met. When an organisation fails to be perceived as legitimate, they use SERs to demonstrate that it can only improve upon its past actions and regain legitimacy. A factor influencing management to produce SERs would be to attract investment funds and take advantage of the practical market for ethically responsible investment funds (Deegan, 2002). However, authors of By the People have four ideas liberty, self rule, limited government, and equality that they believe are the leading factors in how America is shaped. These ideas help elaborate on what makes America a strong and withstanding country. These ideas are the base of America s politics and what makes us a unique country. These four ideas are constantly being debated between politicians on what the different meanings are. Firstly, liberty can be defined as the equal freedom from oppression and restriction in a society. Freedom is what the United States was designed to give most people however it is still being worked on in present day. Freedom is wanted for all American and is the essential focus in this country. There are two different types of liberty negative and positive liberty. Both negative and positive liberties can be debated on what is best for American society. According to Morone and Kersh, negative liberty can be defined as the freedom from the absence of restraint, (12). Negative liberty position is for the freedom from restriction of government on what the individual can or should do in society. The only restriction to a person should be if a person wants to harm another individual. Conservatives and libertarians are usually in favor of negative liberty. • 27. Relevancy Of Fleece Ceremony Thank you for your post on Dave Earley s thoughts on fleece praying and its relevancy in the Church Age today. In order to understand the relevancy of fleece praying, believers must understand the purpose of praying. Richard J. Foster shares, Of all spiritual disciplines, prayer is the most central because it ushers us into perpetual communion with the Father (1998, 33). Prayer is a communication with our heavenly Father. Jesus shared with the disciples a simple, but powerful interactive prayer with his disciples. He stated, Pray then in this way: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done... (Matt. 6:9). I agree with you wholeheartedly, God will not answer prayers that are not a part of his will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Whereas semantics about sentence interpretation and syntax is about sentence formation, phonetics and phonology cover the field of sentence utterance. Phonetics is concerned with how the sounds are produced, transmitted and perceived whereas phonology is concerned with how sounds function in relation to each other in a language. In what follows we will discuss the meaning of both phonetics and phonology and show the difference between them in detail. • 32. Themes In Flowers For Algernon Daniel Keyes uses a character driven plot to explore themes of God, friendship, and treatment of the mentally disabled in the novel Flowers for Algernon. By telling the story through Charlie Gordon, the readers are able to recognize the many inner conflicts and changes that Charlie faces. Over a nine month period the life of Charlie Gordon is transformed and recalled through a series of progress reports. The doctors, teachers, and friends that Charlie meets on his journey help him as well as evolve and transform themselves. In return, the personal thoughts and feelings of the characters help evolve the plot in its entirety. The main character Charlie Gordon shows the most change and devolvement over the course of the novel and this is seen in the way he treats the mouse Algernon. The first time Charlie meets Algernon, they race each other through mazes and each time Algernon wins. Charlie comes to a conclusion and says, I dint feel bad because I watched Algernon and I lerned how to finish the amaze even if it takes me a long time. I dint know mice were so smart (Keyes, 8). This shows Charlie s innocence and kindhearted nature that makes him look for the best in all people and situations. But as Charlie s intelligence grows so did his feelings towards Algernon in the sense that he begins to resent him. His impatience to become intelligent is shown when he says, Nothing is happening. I had lots of tests and differint kinds of races with Algernnon. I hate that mouse. He always beets me...Those amazes are stoopid (Keyes, 18). The once simple minded man has been transformed into a more passionate and irritated adult. As he becomes more intelligent he learns that not everyone is as they seem to be. The people he once thought were his friends used him as the center of entertainment and jokes. The Professors and Doctors that make him smart are not all knowing and even make mistakes. Because of this, his bond with Algernon strengthens and they are able to understand each other in a way nobody else can. As Algernon s state begins to decline, it is Charlie who is there with him watching him as he is out of control and confused (Keyes, 214). Analyze a Sociological Issue Analyze a Sociological Issue Social Inequality and Minorities in the United States 10/24/2010 In this course I have learned about different social problems in societies worldwide. Some of these include poverty, social inequality, discrimination of race and culture, urbanization, and more. After learning all these subjects and more, I have decided to do my final on social inequality and minorities in the United States. I chose this particular topic because I have seen this in almost every place have lived. I find it appalling that minorities are still not treated 100% equal. They have had to deal with numerous inequalities throughout time. After slavery they were not given equal rights. There were many rights rallies and according to the statistics, they are still not receiving equal pay. There used to be restaurants that would not serve a person of color and they were even told they could only sit in the back of buses. Though we have overcome most of this we have not overcome hate crimes. Every group has encountered unequal or cruel treatment based on nothing more than a characteristic about them. Though the hate crime rate had dropped in 2007 there was a rise of anti gay crime. Now with the new election the hate crime rate has risen again. This shows the problem is not diminishing and that we need to find a way to get this under control. Criminal justice is another area of social inequality for minorities in the U.S. Getting a fair trial is difficult is one is accused of a crime that is a stereotype. If a minority is accused of rape, murder, theft, assault, or many other crimes, it may be hard to get a fair trial if the jury basis the evidence against stereotypes. Another aspect to this is that minorities are not given as many options as others. If they are in lower income areas, have less education or just less options general their chances of living a life of crime is high. Our human instincts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mr. Timothy Cavendish In Cloud Atlas It is a well known fact that in the book, Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell, that in Mr. Timothy Cavendish s (a brokenhearted and troubled man) story he is constantly getting picked and beaten upon by everyone (teenagers, older people, everyone!) which is especially true and shown in the introduction of his storyline. Within this novel Mitchell first shows and introduces this chapter with the fact that poor old Mr.Timothy Cavendish has just been mugged by three teenage girls. How horrid this scene may be and how embarrassing of an act this must be for an aging man just trying to live his everyday normal life, which is where we run into another problem; Cavendish refuses to believe and accept that he is in fact becoming older and has always been a coward in terms of defending himself in any way whatsoever. Due to the simple fact that Timothy Cavendish is easy bait, easily intimidated, and an easy target he somehow gets himself sucked up into some sort of sadistic rest home for the elderly, which consists of all locked doors, no windows, plus a very authoritative and evil head nurse who seems to be out to get Cavendish for anything she possible can at every waking hour. • 35. Socialization Of Gender Roles From the instant we are born, we are born into a world of conformity and obedience. Early in our lives, we look at authority figures like parents or teachers as these sentinels of guidance, as omnipotent beings with unwavering precision in their lessons. The concept of socialization is very perplexed, and it s difficult to identify the variables that shape our development as we grow. As children, we communicate with the world free of inhibition, and find no fault in any of our actions; we could throw a tantrum and no one would bat an eye because it is socially acceptable for a child to have minimal restraint on their emotions. Over the years, we eventually become embedded in the norms of our culture, and mature to our respective social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While these genderfied roles are entirely different, as a society we constantly fail to recognize these roles as they appear in front of us. As a result of our systematic training of gender roles, we have essentially unconsciously accepted that gender roles are okay without even analyzing it (Is Everyone Really Equal?). As early as childhood we are exposed to various forms of gender roles. Did you know that 96.8% of teachers in pre school and kindergarten are female (goo.gl/Nb9hpX)? That s not necessarily a bad thing, it s just strange to realize that one sex can virtually dominate an entire profession at such a high statistic without anyone asking questions. Some would argue that the female gender role is economically inferior than that of a man s. It s commonly said that woman only earn seventy nine cents of every man s dollar, but is this necessarily true? No, it s actually worse. The statistic of seventy nine cents for every dollar is actually a statistic for white woman. Hispanic woman earn fifty five cents for every dollar, while Asian woman earn eighty four cents for every dollar. If we were to average the four major ethnic groups, woman would earn approximately sixty nine cents for every dollar (https://goo.gl/nGUZRC). • 36. Integration Of Airpower Airpower in the United States has had a contentious history and even today still raises a lot of debate.1 Leading up to the Second World War, airpower became a significant component of America s fighting force. America began to recognize that it had a superior air force and began integrating that technology as part of its military strategy but not before overcoming significant integration challenges. Airpower had a decisive effect on the way victory in war is declared. Japan s attack on Pearl Harbor and the U.S. Army s retaliation on Hiroshima and Nagasaki are testament to the effectiveness of the utilization of airpower assets. In this example, it was clear that airpower was to become the frontier of the future despite the difficulties in introducing this culture shift to the U.S. Army.2 During the run up to the Second World War and during the period of its occurrence till its end, there existed strong sentiments with regards to how effective airpower would be in the war. There were arguments regarding its effectiveness with detractors pointing out instances such as Combined Bomber Offensive in Europe and its failure to win the war. Another point of detraction was that war cannot be won without ground offensives that lead the way for the airpower assets to strike. In fact, airpower advantage was not as decisive as praised.3 However, the reasons for difficulty in integration were more than just those instances. A corporation is morally responsible only for those acts and their foreseen injurious effects: (a) which the corporation knowingly and freely performed or brought about and which it was morally wrong for the corporation to fail to perform or prevent and/or (b) which the person knowingly and freely failed to perform or prevent and which it was morally wrong for the corporation to fail to perform or ... Not only does the social condition factor into the misuse of Fuller s products but also does the economic factor relate to the issue. The economic condition is certainly not the sole bearer of cause for the misuse of Fuller s products, either. There are certain players in this unfortunate epidemic that have not been taken into account. These variables include the retailers, middlemen, and corrupt distributors who most likely made a profit from selling the glue to the children on the streets. In addition, there was management among the subsidiary companies who helped produce this product that must have been aware of this pertinent issue. Who is to say that management never tried to resolve anything, or even bring up the issue? They probably did, but nothing drastic as cancellation of their product ever came of it.
