Animals Rights Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of animal rights can be a challenging endeavor. The complexity
arises from the multifaceted nature of the subject, encompassing ethical, philosophical, scientific,
and sociopolitical aspects. Addressing the rights of animals involves navigating through various
perspectives, ranging from animal welfare to environmental concerns, cultural attitudes, and legal
considerations.
One difficulty lies in striking the right balance between emotional appeal and factual
information. The topic often elicits strong emotions, and effectively conveying the ethical
concerns without losing objectivity can be a delicate task. Moreover, synthesizing information
from diverse sources, such as scientific studies, ethical theories, and legal frameworks, requires a
comprehensive understanding of the subject.
Furthermore, the evolving nature of the discourse surrounding animal rights adds an extra layer
of complexity. As societal attitudes and scientific knowledge progress, staying abreast of the
latest developments is crucial for crafting a well-informed and relevant essay.
Additionally, the challenge extends to addressing counterarguments and opposing viewpoints.
Acknowledging and refuting opposing perspectives while maintaining a coherent and persuasive
narrative requires a nuanced approach.
In conclusion, composing an essay on animal rights demands not only excellent research and
writing skills but also a deep understanding of the ethical and moral dimensions of the topic.
Successfully navigating these challenges can result in a compelling and impactful essay that
contributes meaningfully to the ongoing dialogue on the subject.

Human Rights During The Enlightenment Era
The Enlightenment era was a significant time period in which many advancements
were made in the understanding of science, philosophy, and the first introduction to
human rights. Many philosophers such as Thomas Hobbes and John Locke wrote
articles regarding the role of an individual and the role they play in society. They also
elaborated on how the government is supposed to respect and honor these inalienable
human rightsattained during birth. The ideas that were presented during this time
period have continued to have an impact in today s society and provide an
understanding of how humans around the world, regardless of gender, race, social
status, and religion, deserve to be treated. Female genital mutilation is a human rights
issue that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Individuals are entitled to enjoy the highest attainable standard of physical and
mental health, and FGM takes away a woman s right to this according to Article 12
of the Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights Covenant. The Convention on the
Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women committee has
recommended that governments devise health policies that focus on the need of
girls and adolescents who have to be subjected to practices like FGM that are
significant parts of their culture . It is very important to realize that groups like
CEDAW work very hard to combat issues like FGM, but it is difficult when they are
fighting against generation old practices. Female genital has many health
consequences that come from complications with the procedure. These consequences
are not only physical, but psychological as well. FGM most commonly takes place in
remote, rural areas by traditional practitioners or midwives who have never had
formal training. The midwives will often use knives, razors, or broken glass that are
not sterile to cut the young girls. Not only with the materials be unsterile, but the
procedure is usually performed in unsanitary conditions . Short term complications
from the procedure include excessive bleeding, genital tissue swelling, infections,
HIV, urination problems, impaired wound healing, and even death. These 8 possible
complications are inflicted on young girls and
Similarities Between The Thirteen British Colonies
The thirteen British colonies share many similarities as the building blocks of the
United States of America we have today. As much as they are similar, they are
separated by different origins and histories. Arranged by their geographic locations,
the colonies can be organized into New England, Middle, and Southern colonies, each
having a specific pattern of development. In the cases of politics, religion, legal
systems, and economy, the thirteen are very much alike. Before settling in America,
all the original colonists lived under Britain s rule. Forms of Protestantism were
practiced throughout the colonies. All trading followed mercantilism rules. At
various degrees, all colonies fought the Natives due to land ownership. Salutary

White Noise Loss Of Knowledge Quotes
Many changes have happened during the end of the 20th and the beginning of the
21st century mostly in technological advances. These changes have allowed humans
to obtain products and information much quicker and also helped expand the work
industry. Acquiring information and products has never been any simpler. The only
problem is that these things are being handed out without us actually knowing where
they come from. We trust these systems that are out of sight more than our own
judgment. Don DeLillo s novel White Noise demonstrates how most people of this
time will have complete faith in information, experts or products given to them from
unknown sources, but will distrust their own judgment and knowledge. Throughout
Don DeLillo s novel, characters will doubt their own judgments and thoughts. These

Several times throughout the book, the members of Jack s family will not know
what to answer or what to do when they encounter a question or a problem.
Heinrich is a good example in this book. He is interrogated several times, but he is
unable to answer the question with his own judgment. He resorts to experts or
avoids the question by asking more questions. While Heinrich was in a car with
Jack, Jack asks Heinrich if it was indeed raining outside, which it was. Heinrich then
claims that My truth means nothing. (Don DeLillo 23) Heinrich does not trust his
own knowledge making it useless. He thinks that his judgment should not be taken
into consideration. Later on in the novel, Heinrich is asked if he would like to go to
the ashram this summer by his mother. Once again, he claims that he does not know

South African American History
In the 1830s, the British Government began to look to South Africa for the abundant
gold and diamond in the area, as well as, with the hopes of gaining control of the
most strategic port and route to trade with India. The British acted quickly, and
started to take control of the cape of South Africa. In 1833, they emancipated the
Afrikaners slaves, created more taxes, and auctioned off previously communal land.
This caused great rage within the Boercommunity. The Boers were Dutch and
Huguenot people that migrated to South Africain the late 17th century (Great Trek).
Starting in 1835, the Boers left their homeland with the goal of starting a new life
free from British rule. The majority of the migrants left from the Eastern frontier of

The South Africans view the Great Trek as a central event of their 19th century
history and the reason for them becoming a nation. Once being granted
independence to the trekkers in the Transvaal and Transorangia regions in 1852 and
1854, the Voortrekkers knew that their hard work had paid off. The migrants brought
South Africa great pride and are a strong representation of a hard working group of
people fighting for what they believe in (The
Department Of Youth Rehabilitation Services
The Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services is what we decided to do our
project on. It appeals to us because we can easily see ourselves working with this
organization at various points in our careers. To begin with we wanted to give a
description of the history of the organization as well as its purpose as an overview to
understand its uses.
The Department of YouthRehabilitation Services has a relatively short history but it
is a very impactful one. The department is headed by Clinton Lacey. The
Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services was founded in 2004 in the District of
Columbia and was made to be a cabinet level agency for the districts juvenile justice

After Schiraldi led the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services through its first
several years he helped lower the runaway status of supervised youth from 26 percent
down to seven percent. Through his tenure the homicide rate among supervised youth
also fell quite considerably. One of the most remarkable changes was the fact that the
recidivism rate for youth under the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services care
decreased by 47 percent.
Today DYRS has a fully comprehensive and functional website. It has easy access to
links that include Community based treatment, DC YouthLink Services, New
Beginings Youth Development Center, Youth Services Center, DYRS Case
Management, as well as a variety of other resources that can be helpful to any youth
in need.
One of the largest contribution that the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services

order to fully understand a city or its history, you must also try to understand the
people living within it. The Journal of HГ©lГЁne Berr and the film Free Men
provide insight for this and have some very strong shared themes. One very important
theme of both the journal and the movie is perseverance. Both the journal and the
film are set in German occupied Parisduring World War II. They provide insight into
the way people of specific religions and backgrounds lived and thought during a
dark time in Paris s history. Many people, including those who were not from
France, expressed their loyalty to the city of Paris and their unwillingness to step
down through their thoughts and actions. Through this theme in both the journal
and the film, one can better understand the mindset and the way of thinking of
certain groups of Parisians in occupied Paris. In The Journal of HГ©lГЁne Berr,
we are given the first hand account of a young Jewish woman in Paris during the
German occupation. This primary source provides a strong insight into how Paris
was changing before HГ©lГЁne s eyes. HГ©lГЁne started keeping a journal to
preserve memories, but over time, as the German occupation started to change her
life, it became something more. Her writing became darker, because so did her
outlook. For one, towards the end of the
The Mayo Clinic
1.As per the Mayo Clinic the symptoms that the patient encountered is related to a
pituitary adenoma, due to the tumor pressure (www.mayoclinic.org). The visual
disturbances and headaches indicate an increase growth, which causes pressure to the
surrounding area. The weight gain and increase in shoe size is caused by an increase
production in growth hormone. Excess production in growth hormone can cause
enlarged hands and feet.
2. The pituitary adenoma itself may put pressure on the remaining normal part of the
pituitary gland and limit or destroy its ability to produce hormones appropriately
(Stewart Vance). With the increase in tumor pressure the patient may experience
nausea and vomiting. The pituitary adenoma may cause body hair loss, sexual
dysfunction, increase frequency and increase amount of urination. The pituitary
adenoma is growth hormone secreting tumor causing the hands and feet to enlarge
(www.mayoclinic.org). A growth hormone adenoma is the reason for the unexplained
weight gain and the change in shoe size from 10 to 12.
3. The cause of the high urine output postop is due to diabetes insipidus. Diabetes
insipidus (DI) is a common complication following pituitary surgery (Schreckinger,

this Mafia theory point back to is Jack Ruby who killed Lee Harvey Oswald, he

individual members may have been involved . High end officials also believed that
the Mafia had a role within the assassination conspiracy with the chief counsel for

The active chemical in coffee is caffeine, and too people coffee is used to increase
the heart rate or give people an increase in energy. The effect coffee has on people

Coffee has an effect on more than just the brain, caffeine also affects a person

Analysis Of Anne Of Green Gabless
After the First World War ended, the Anne of Green Gables series by L.M.
Montgomery became an important part of Polish life (Wachowicz 9). Wachowicz in
her article, L.M. Montgomery: at home in Poland , suggests the series appealed to
Polish citizens during this time, because it offered a kind of practical romance and
cheerfulness that was needed during this period of reconstruction and independence
(11). The first polish edition of Anne of Green Gables(Ania z Zielonego Wzgbrza)
was published in 1912, and from 1919 to 1939 Anne of Green Gables was
published another seven times, and the other novels in the series were also
published multiple times (8 9). The CBC reported that series was so popular, that
some of the novels were given to polish troops during the Second World War, to
remind them of values such as love, home and family (Anne of Green Gables big
in Poland). Yet despite the series popularity, it was briefly banned from 1953 to
1956 during Poland s communist regime (Wachowicz 9). This seemingly innocent
series was banned for many reasons, such as that it was influenced by western
thinking, or that it was too unrealistic, and distracted people from contemporary
problems (Looby 15). In addition, the series was considered to show resistance
to[wards] authority, and an uncompromising emphasis on the value of the individual
(Anne of Green Gables big in Poland). While all of these reasons are valid, due to the
limited scope of this essay, I will focus on the
Somalia at War Essay
Africa is a rich continent with an abundance of resources, diverse cultures, exotic
people and exciting traditions, yet it seems as though it is perpetually facing
armed conflict (Lukunka, 2012). Of the conflicts Africa is facing currently,
Somalia is the center for some of the largest conflicts. The history of Somalia has
been hit with conflict after conflict, not only between rival clans but also with other
countries, most recently between not only regional powers but also the US and Al
Qaida. The current conflict in Somalia differs from the rest due to the number and
type of players involved; the large numbers of foreign players involved in local
affairs and the role radical Islam is playing in the conflict. With most of the... Show

interest. Among those are oil and global trade, maritime security, armed conflicts and
violent extremist that are tied to radical Islamic views like al Qaeda. With protecting
the homeland being one of the U.S. top priorities Al Qaeda and their sympathizers are
their number one concern. U.S. interest in Somalia has shifted back and forth over
the decades with changing security and strategic interest. Currently U.S. interest in
Somalia range from piracy, trade, humanitarian issues, broader regional stability and
terrorism, with the principle interest to the U.S since 9/11 being terrorism. With
extremist such as youth militants and Al Shabaab clearly stating their jihadist
intentions and abundant opportunity to cause disorder both in Somalia and abroad,
the international community is left wondering if these insurgent groups have the
long term means to implement their religious visions or whether the government,
with or without help, will be able to fight them. If the United States were to use The
Partner Nation Capability, which conducts exercises through Security Forces
Assistance programs like SMEE s (partnered with Law Enforcement or LE), Theater

Analysis Of Power And Time By Mary Oliver
Mary Oliver, a Pulitzer Prize winning author/poet, uses her essay Of Power and
Time describes to readers the creative process that goes along with writing, and the
obstacles associated with it (Poetry). She then explores various contexts in which
creativity exists, or should/should not exist. Although many readers can appreciate
what Oliver has to offer, she mainly directs her writingtowards people who yearn for
creativitybut cannot find the time to develop it. Oliver uses a specific word choice,
anomalous organization, elaborate analogies, bias, and a connection to religion in
order to convey the idea that creativity takes time and effort. The word choice Oliver
uses is very specific to this essay and her argument.
Throughout her writing, she uses very descriptive language in her various
analogies. Some examples of this are silver morning, white spider belly, stained
with light, etc (Oliver 620 623). This vivid language allows readers to visualize and
get the full effect of Oliver s main idea. She also uses poetic language at moments,
which makes sense with her very successful poetry background, which includes
various awards (Poetry). Examples of this are found throughout her essay. For
instance, in paragraph five, Oliver says, I am, myself, three selves at least, (Oliver
620). This creative use of words provides readers with pleasant contrast from most
formal writings. Overall, Oliver s word choice was unique to her essay and provided

Introduction Of Walt Disney Company
According to Giroux, The Walt Disney Company has extended its purpose and
reach outside of entertainment, and this idea is evident today. In the beginning, the
company focused on its animated films, but nowadays, that is only a portion of
what the company has created. Toys, books, movies, CDs, clothing, and endless
products that feature Disney characters can be found in most physical and online
stores. Furthermore, Disney keeps its characters alive with theme parks and resorts
found throughout the world. Disney also owns hundreds of radio stations and
several TV networks. There is no doubt that the company has grown into an
industry, and it is an industry that owes its accomplishments to the image it has
built over the decades. Because Disney is a media conglomerate worth billions,
maintaining its reputation is key to financial success. Disney is known as a family
friendly company, and through the years, it has determined what families deem
appropriate for viewers of all ages. The company collects this information and then
recycles what it knows works. Every aspect of an animated Disney film is studied in
order to ensure that it fits the Disney mold. Formulas exist in the form of characters,
themes, art, music, plot devices, and more. Despite being products of the late 20th
century and early 21st century, Mulan and Moana are no exception to this recycling
of formulas. For example, the protagonists, Mulan and Moana, are not the only
rebellious daughters from the Disney
Anne Sexton Woman
I have been her kind. (Sexton, lines 1 7)
Here, Sexton is not meaning that she has literally been a witch, but she empathizes
with the persecuted women of earlier centuries. When Sexton states that she is
braver at night and that she has done her hitch/over the plain houses, she is verbally
expressing that the tenebrosity is her only escape from the judging ocular perceivers
of people who lead impeccable, conventional lives in suburbia. (Sexton, lines 3 4).
The orator kens what it is relish to be the isolated witch who does not fit the typical
woman s mold, and who is a lonely thing that is cast out of society for not fitting in.
(Sexton, line 5). By saying that a woman like that is not a woman, quite, she is
exhibiting that people view women who are non conformist as flawed and not even
as legitimate women. In the second stanza, Sexton goes on to say that the speaker
has: Found the warm caves in the woods, Filled them with skillets, carvings, shelves,
Closets, silks, innumerable goods;
Fixed the suppers for the worms and the elves:
Whining, rearranging the disaligned.
A woman like that is misunderstood.
I have been her kind. (Sexton, lines 8 14) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She seems to be unhappy with the long established, traditional image of a woman:
One who fixes the suppers for her family, rearranges the misaligned in her domicile,
and who is whiny and repining (Sexton, lines 11 13). In the same way that the witch
is isolated because of the stigmas annexed to her lifestyle, Sexton is verbalizing that
a housewife can be solitary and misunderstood as well because of the isolation that
emanates from her subordinate role in society. Just as the witch or outcast is
misconstrue as malevolent or manipulating, the housewife can be misread as a

Analysis Of Jim Mccormick s Short Story Breaking
Through...
The two stories Breaking through Uncertainty and Neighbours are both stories
about how big the benefits are when risks have been taken. The first short story is
about how a skydiver must overcome his own uncertainty, to save himself from
certain death. While the other story is still dramatic, just in a different tone; it s
about a young woman, who must decide whether or not a friendship is worth
standing up for something that s right. The protagonists in both stories, have to take
risks, and they re both rewarded for taking those risks; one with his life, and the
other with a stronger friendship. Even though the skydiver is risking his life, the
protagonist in Neighbours had more gut to do what she had to do, where is the
skydiver just let second nature take over. Above all, the protagonists both did
experience serious risktaking moments, and they both benefited for the greater good.
Breaking Through Uncertainty by Jim McCormick is about how a skydiver is
plummeting to his death, and he has got to figure out how to save himself. All the
while the skydiver must deal with his self doubt. In paragraph eight, we see
actually how much danger the skydiver is in I looked up to assess my canopy and

Pros And Cons Of Uniform Crime Report
UCR or known as the Uniform crime reports is an annual report published by the
FBI in the DOJ, which is meant to estimate most of the major street crimes in the
United States. The main purpose of the UCR is basically to collect as many crimes
or reliable crimes that come up as crime statistics so it can be used in our law
enforcement administration. The Ucr is a very helpful tool for the law. The system
was created in 1929. It provided information for criminologists, sociologists, and even
the media. The Ucr mostly concentrates on assaults and robberies. The NIBRS or the
national incident based reporting system is the system that the government uses for
gathering data about recent or past crimes. The system has a lot of purposes but one
of the main purposes is to evaluate the crimes associated with any current culture of

Another measure of crime is the NCVS. The NCVS or the national crime
victimization survey is a primary measure of crime in the U.S. it is collected not
only by the DOJ but also the Census Bureau. The main purpose of the NCVS was
to gather information that was not reported to the law. The NCVS was
acknowledge and founded in 1972 by the National Opinion Research Center. An
interesting fact about the NIBRS is that the survey is done twice a year at
random.Measuring crime is essential believe it or not. How are we going to know
which crimes have risen and which crimes have not. We measure crime for various
reasons. One of those reasons is explanation. how are we going to know what
happened at the crime scene. It is also used for evaluation, that addresses criminal
activity. Crime statistics are commonly known to be used for political purposes.

Chinese Kinship Systems Essay
Chinese Kinship Systems
Works Cited Missing
It would be impossible to disagree with the statement that Chinese kinship is based
on male predominance . In fact this statement may even be under emphasizing the
control and absolute power that males wield across all levels of Chinese society. Of
course, where their power initially comes from though, is through the family or
termed differently the jia . It is this extended or ideal family that cultivates the
consistent patrilineal form of control/descent and dictates that residence in said jia is
primarily patrilocal. That being said, what I hope to be able to create over the
following pages is a clearer understanding of the ideal (Chinese) system of control.
This ideal system, based on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will return to this point later, but before going anywhere further it is best to ask
why a son was so important in the first place? There is, of course, a myriad of strong
reasons, one reason being that surnames were passed down through the male line.
This process meant that a male child was needed to take the surname of their father
not their mother. Meaning that surname in China was integral to creating a kinship
system, which placed heavy emphasis on male superiority. It was through this handed
down surname, that the massive kinship systems such as a lineage or a clan could be
generated and held together over generations and generations. Hereditary surnames
were also the primary form of hierarchical family organization, and were inherently
needed to practice ancestor worship. This type of worship, through a patrilineal
method, was exercised even after kinship members had long since been deceased. The
handing of the surname to a father s son (s), then meant that he now existed to
continue not only his present family but the extended family that came before him,
and the jia that would surface in the future. Baker s use of a rope metaphor works well
here, depicting a rope (standing for male heirs and descendents) which stretches
back into the past and forward into the future. The rope at any one time may be
thicker or thinner according to the number of strands (jia) or fibers (male
individuals) which exist, but so long as one fiber remains the rope is there....That is
Georg Cantor
Georg Cantor I. Georg Cantor Georg Cantor founded set theory and introduced the
concept of infinite numbers with his discovery of cardinal numbers. He also
advanced the study of trigonometric series and was the first to prove the
nondenumerability of the real numbers. Georg Ferdinand Ludwig Philipp Cantor
was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, on March 3, 1845. His family stayed in Russia
for eleven years until the father s sickly health forced them to move to the more
acceptable environment of Frankfurt, Germany, the place where Georg would spend
the rest of his life. Georg excelled in mathematics. His father saw this gift and tried
to push his son into the more profitable but less challenging field of engineering.

There simply is no biggest number. Is infinity a number? Is there anything bigger
than infinity? How about infinity plus one? What s infinity plus infinity? What
about infinity times infinity? Children to whom the concept of infinity is brand
new, pose questions like this and don t usually get very satisfactory answers. For
adults, these questions don t seem to have very much bearing on daily life, so
their unsatisfactory answers don t seem to be a matter of concern. At the turn of
the century Cantor applied the tools of mathematical rigor and logical deduction to
questions about infinity in search of satisfactory answers. His conclusions are
paradoxical to our everyday experience, yet they are mathematically sound. The
world of our everyday experience is finite. We can t exactly say where the
boundary line is, but beyond the finite, in the realm of the transfinite, things are
different. Sets and Set Theory Cantor is the founder of the branch of mathematics
called Set Theory, which is at the foundation of much of 20th century mathematics.
At the heart of Set Theory is a hall of mirrors the paradoxical infinity. Georg Cantor
was known to have said, I see it, but I do not believe it, about one of his proofs. The
set is the mathematical object which Cantor scrutinized. He defined a set as any
collection of well distinguished and well defined objects
A Brief Note On The Body Worn Cameras
Body Worn Cameras
A man walks down a road, and is confronted by a police officer wearing a body
worn camera. The man and the officer exchange words, and soon after a physical
altercation ensues. According to the man s statement, the officer was out of line,
assaulted him, and his privacy was violated by the use of the camera. The officer s
statement, however, said that he was trying to question the man about being
intoxicated and the usage of vulgar language, when the subject then began threatening
him and ultimately began the attack on him; the officer continued to state he used the
minimum amount of force necessary to minimize the threat. The man was ultimately
convicted by the video evidence. Police officers feel that wearing body worn cameras
will provide all the necessary evidence in any given situation, and protect them from
public scrutiny, while the public believes that their privacy is being violated, and at
too high of a financial cost. Police officers and public citizens must each concede to
find the truth.
In the past, police officers and the public only had their word as their testimony.
They had no choice but to try convince the jury that their side of the story was the
truth. High profile cases between officers and the public have left the public
searching and wanting answers. Some law enforcement departments have added
another piece of equipment to their police officers for their added protection, while
they patrol the streets. This controversial piece of
Essay High Cost of Urban Sprawl
Urban Sprawl is an intricate concept that is mostly known as low density, automobile
dependent development beyond the edge of employment and services zones. This
type of development is ubiquitous in the United States since the end of World War II.
Urban sprawl or suburban sprawl has raised immense number of concerns in various
areas, such as: environmental impacts, loss of farmland, traffic problems, urban
decline, taxpayer subsidy, loss of community, housing, as well as some unspecific
concerns. The objective of this paper is to demonstrate in depth the major reasons
that make urban sprawl exorbitant in the aforementioned areas.
Environmental Impacts of sprawl
United States is facing an environmental disaster, losing farmland, green ... Show

This phenomenon increases the temperature in the area due to the increase in the
amount of asphalt and building structures. Phoenix, AZ is a great example of a city
which has significantly suffers from this phenomenal due to excessive urban
sprawl. Harvey Bryan, senior sustainability scientist at ASU s School of
Architecture and Landscape Architecture says: It s a magnitude now of about 12
degrees above our historical nighttime lows. It was very typical to have summer
evenings of 78 degrees back in the 1950s. Today we rarely go below 90. I think we re
headed to conditions where we have 100 degrees as our maximum nighttime low.
Loss of Farmland
Farmlands are being lost for the creation of new highways, fringe industrial parks
and sprawl housing developments. The loss of farmland would minimize our

Bridging Indonesia s Infrastructure Funding Gap Essay
Bridging Indonesia s Infrastructure Funding Gap Introduction Infrastructure is high
priority in the pursuit of positive economic growth for any developing countries. If
not well looked after, it can creates a significant burden on logistic costs. Fortunately,
some countries including Indonesia are now realizing that the need of bettering
infrastructure is paramount. Unfortunately, regarding its tight fiscal space, Indonesia
is now searching for development funds to bridge its infrastructure funding gap. This
project report discusses some Indonesia s potential policy options and explains what
option the government should pursue. Indonesia s current economic situation After
the 1998 economic crisis, Indonesia s economy has been known to be quite resilient.
It has persistent positive growth and strong fiscal and macroeconomic regimes. In the
last decade, the public debt of the country has been decreasing from 100 percent in
1998 to 24.5 percent in 2012. Indonesia has also maintained its positive growth trend
averaging 5.5 percent in the same period ( UU APBN , 2016). In the last 2008
economic crisis, Indonesia kept showing its resilience by maintaining its positive
growth at 4.5 percent in 2009. Unfortunately, even though positive, Indonesia s
positive economic growth is not free from problem. Indonesia economy is still
suffering from an infrastructure gap. According to Diop (2014), underinvestment in
infrastructure, mainly in transportation has left the country with a
The Theory Of Social Responsibility
The pattern of social responsibility will be demonstrated in this paper by noting a
couple inquiries encompassing the thought and routine of social responsibility. The
paper will start with characterizing the idea of social responsibility and noting the
accompanying inquiries: What does Cohen feel is the social responsibility of a
business to its workers, stakeholders, and society as a whole? How does this
perspective align with that of Drucker? How does Cohen s opinion compare with
that of Friedman? Which aligns best with the current business climate promoting a
green environment ? Why? Social Responsibility Druker inferred that each
organization must accept full responsibility regarding its effect on workers, the
earth, clients, and whomever and whatever it touches is social responsibility
(Cohen, 2009 p. 31). Generally, social responsibility is a leadership commitment to
society and that organizational must act as needs be to accommodate the well being
and interest of the general public that it influences. Social responsibility can t be
satisfied through governments alone which is the place where hierarchical social
responsibility becomes possibly the most important factor. Moreover, there are
numerous aspects in social responsibility, it simply depends of which venue of social
responsibility is followed up on to encourage financial assistance. For instance,
Cohen (2009) indicated a number of elusive contrasts by means of two distinctive rich
business visionaries
Landfill Gas Generation And Collection From Waste
2.2LANDFILL GAS GENERATION AND COLLECTION FROM WASTE
Landfills are designed structures built into or on top of the ground to ensure refuse
isolation. The design and operations act to ensure that there are minimal effects to
public and environmental health. MSW landfills have 6 components: 1] Bottom liner
systems, 2] Refuse wells 3] Storm water drainage system, 4] Leachate collection
systems, 5] methane collection systems, and 6] a covering cap. These components
promote methane capture [Sawyer, 2007].
1.Bottom Liner systems are usually constructed from puncture resistant, plastic
HDPE or PVC. These are used to prevent the movement of leachate and LFG [Kim,
2003].
2.Wells are the most common methods of LFG extraction. Vertical Well... Show more

Drainage pipes and storm water liners collect water from different areas in the
landfill and channel it to collection ponds before it is pumped off site [Freudenrich,
2005].
4.Leachate Collection systems optimize landfill systems and are designed as fail
safes for the storm water drainage systems. Whenever water permeates through the
landfill wells, it reacts with organic and inorganic contaminants and then becomes
leachate. It is treated as sewage or wastewater before it is released [Freudenrich,
2005].
5.Methane recovery systems are used to pump methane and carbon dioxide which is
then collected and then transported to processing stations [Guo Song, 1996].
6.Landfill covers or caps are used to control moisture infiltration, mitigate the release
of LFG, prevent and pests from rummaging through the refuse. It also allows the site
to be re used in the future [Kim, 2003]. Figure 3: Typical Landfill Gas Recovery and

2.3FACTORS THAT AFFECT LFG GENERATION AND COLLECTION
I.Quantity of Waste Disposed: The amount disposed at the landfill is directly affects
the amount of LFG generated. The more waste you have in the well, the more LFG
produced [Reinhart Barlaz, 2010].
II.Waste Composition: Waste can be defined according to the relative
biodegradability:
a)Readily biodegradable (such as food waste)
b)Moderately biodegradable (Paper waste and green waste)
c)Slowly biodegradable (Paper waste
Disney Seventieth Anniversary Essay
It was Disney s Seventieth Anniversary on July 17 in Knox Pennsylvania and I
decided to have a few friends over to celebrate this occasion. When everyone
arrived we sat down to enjoy a spectacular meal made by some of my friends. When
we sat down and were eating I told them that I had a story to tell then. They all
leaned in as I began to tell them my tragic but amazing story.
It all began on a warm summer day on July 17th in China. There was a large
gathering in the fresh waters of South China Sea. Flounder from The Little
Mermaid, Mushu from Mulan, Dory from Finding Nemo, and Olaf from Frozen
were all swimming as fast as they could to get to Dory s house for the gathering. As

about all the things that were soon to come. Right before they were all getting
ready to leave Dory remembered the banner she had made for the party. She said,
Wait, no, you can t leave. I have one more thing to show you before you go. She
swam as fast as she could back to her room and grabbed the long, circle tube and
swam back out. She told them to close their eyes and count to three. They all did so
and on three Dory yelled, Open! And Happy Anniversary! as she yelled that a huge
poster and confetti shot out of the tube. Everyone came together for a huge group
Physician Assistant Job
After having a horrific knee injury, I became interested in Orthopedics. My whole
life I have been interested in achieving a job in the medical field. Going to a
hospital for any reason, always was the fascination of my day. I never thought of
becoming a physician assistant until I sat down with my mom one night to help me
decide my future. My dream job would be to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant
and specialize in Orthopedics. A physician assistant, known as a PA, is someone who
practices medicineon teams with physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare workers.

My intended college choices to pursue my career are: Itawamba Community
College, University of Mississippi Medical Center, or the University of Tennessee.
However, the three top ranked schools that have the top of the line physician
assistant programs is Duke University, University of Iowa, and Emory University.
However, my choice of college will be determined by the college cost. Depending
on the type of school I go to, the tuition cost is different at each school around the
United States. For the school I plan to attend, the tuition cost is $1250 at Itawamba
Community College (www.iccms.edu). While at ICC, I plan on getting my
requirements for my curriculum leaning toward getting my Bachelor s degree at a
university. After two years at ICC, I plan on going to Mississippi State University
or the University of Mississippi. The tuition cost for these two schools range from
$16,960 $23,201. During these two years at a university, I will be obtaining my
Bachelor s degree in possibly kinesiology. After getting my undergraduate degree, I
plan on going to a graduate college that has a physician assistant program so I can
start working toward becoming a physician assistant. I have been looking at the

Street Gangs And Gang Violence
Everyone is well aware of gangs and gang violence. Street gangs differ from
organized crime such as mobs and mafias. Street gangs commit a lot more senseless
crimes without reason. A murder can take place for something as simple as stepping
on ones shoe or looking at someone a certain way. All taken as signs of disrespect in
the gangworld; even the insane acts of what s known as initiation week where many
random murders take place. In a lot of gangs this process is done to show that an
individual has the heart to take a life, no matter whose.

Average Waves In Unprotected Waters Analysis
In the short story, Average Waves in Unprotected Waters , the author, Anne Taylor,
uses literary terms that are linked to vital parts of the story, to contribute to her
decision of the title. To begin, Taylor emphasizes a connection between the title and
the text by showing the symbolic value of the protagonist and society. The
protagonist, Bet, drops her son Arnold off at the hospital because he was getting too
hard to care for as he continues to get older. These actions show that she has a
difficult life being a single mom with a child who is mentally ill, which is
represented by the average waves but by leaving her son she is thrown into the
unprotected waters of society. To continue, the author uses the title to point to the
theme of the

Similarities Between Julius Caesar And Gaius Marius
I came, I saw, I conquered. These words embody both Caesar s demeanor towards
his triumph at the Battle of Zela (47 B.C) as well as Gaius Marius demeanor
towards his triumph at the Battle of Aquae Sextiae (102 B.C). Andrew Jackson, the
7th President of the United States, will later embody the spirit of Julius Caesarand
Gaius Mariusthroughout his military campaign in the War of 1812 as well as his
presidency (1829 1837). President Jackson s unprecedented imprint upon American
politics and the presidency has exposed viewers to analyze few similarities portrayed
from both Julius Caesar and Gaius Marius. Although the similarities portrayed
between President Jackson and Gaius Marius were immense, based on their executive
power, the similarity between Julius Caesar and Andrew Jackson were substantially
greater.
To illustrate, Jackson s rise to sovereignty, like Caesar and Marius, began in the
military where he was positioned as a war General and gradually rose to a
politician, stimulating innovation and reform. Throughout his rise to politics, he
advanced a new vision of the President as the direct representative of the people
make him the Consul Caesar of his time. Andrew Jackson became the advocate of
the people, and was commonly considered by historians to have been one of the
nation s most vigorous and powerful chief executives. During the 1800 s, America

Difference Between Peace And Human Rights Movement
Human right and peace movements started a long time ago in the early nineteenth
century when the anti colonial movement was started. The aim of different
movements, however, differs with the issue at hand by that time. Many people fought
for the realization of a world free of colonializing using these human right
movements. Their major role is to sensitize the public and the government of the
current oppressing issue. For instance, when people realized that their civil rightswere
doomed by selected few in the time, they came up with movements that could force
rectification of the way. Notably, peace and human right movements have helped the
public a lot from the beginning of time.
The beginning of movements was faced with challenges in most cases having been
frequently criticized by the mass media for they seemed not to have a clear goal.
However, if the movement has a concrete claim, the way through shows up with time.
For example, in the fight for voting right, the movement was faced with many
challenges including media criticism. The whites wanted to maintain supremacy and
hence did not want any sign of equality. Also not to forget the anti colonial movement
where many people died in the quest for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, in some cases, it becomes hard to protest peacefully and they try to force
their way. When violence and force are used, the result is the death of members and
property. This goes against our point that peace and human right movements are
good and they help sensitize people and bring change to the society (Taylor, n. p.).
For example, during the anti colonial human right movement, many people lost life
and property as they tried to force their way out. Moreover, during voting right
movement people lost life and property while others were forced to run to other
countries. Even though the change they were fighting for came to be, they had lost a

With advance in mobile computing, data is often delivered on to the internet,
through wireless network, via provider s telecom network. Using mobile
computing several users can access their individual internet sites, users can make
calls, text to friends, watch movies, play games from app store, use GPS from their
smartphones. This technology involves parallel processing of different threads for
digital voice and data operations. Based on older telephone models mobile phones
are designed to transmit voices. In first generation, cellphones are basically radios,
they are used to transmit analog signals to a cell tower through air. In the second
generation, voices were digitized but sent in the same way through circuit switching
network, which establishes a connection between two phones till the connection lasts.
1. Analog Cellular technology: (1G) In first generation the radio telephony system is
used. At that time a mobile station and a telephone operator are involved in the
communication process. First when a person makes call then it goes to the mobile
base station and then from there a mobile operator used to connect to the other
person based on the request of who has called. Then the call will be connected to the
receiver. This long process is done in the 1G systems. This communication is done
using radio waves. This technology mainly uses Frequency division multiple access
(FDMA). As we communicate through radio channels data is transmitted in

during the Vietnam War. Even now there is discourse surrounding these Vietnamese
women, or comfort women as they are called. Today there is very little officially

stolen from their homes, violated, assaulted, and blamed as victims. Their children
were discriminated against, seen as lower class citizens, and forgotten about by their
fathers. These women and children were not only discriminated against at the time of

Since most soldiers left while Vietnam when their Vietnamese children were

Most of the soldiers had family back home, so in a sense they did not want a link
between them and their child. A child in Vietnam could disrupt a soldier s life at
home. Neither the mother of the child, nor the father really wanted the child that
was created: But neither America nor Vietnam wanted the kids known as
Amerasians (Lamb). It was not very often that a child was created out of mutual

what she is doing, will have no money to support her child with. The child will

the child s mother is discriminated against for being a comfort women, then the child

the roles played within the group, a description of the group member personalities,
the intended focus of the group, how the group worked together as a team and the

Definition of the Group
Within this conflict, the two groups that define the direction of the conflict are: the
twelve spies and the angry group of followers. Examining the group of twelve spies
which was established by God via Moses, their charge was to investigate the land of
Canaan that God was preparing to give to the children of Israel. Specifically, Moses
directed the spies to see what the land was like, to see if the people were weak or
strong, to identify the population size, to identify the quality of the land, and to
describe the state of the cities. Moses further encouraged his leadership team stating
be of good courage and bring back a sample of your work, i.e. bring some of the
fruit of the land as cited in Numbers chapter 13. Acknowledging the spies charge and
dependence upon one another, this group is a collection of individuals who are
interdependent given their instructions to collectively investigate the land of Canaan
(Johnson and Johnson, 2013, p. 6). Even more, Moses defined clear goals and
expectations for the group of spies. As reflected by

Moon Landing Is Not A Hoax Essay
That s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind was the famous quote
made by Neil Armstrong when landing on the moon. This was most impressive feat
of innovation in the history of mankind but some conspiracy theorist think it was all
just a to political stunt. This people who think it is a hoax have no idea what they are
talking about because they are either crazy or do not trust the government. The
evidence that support the moonlanding are abundant, these include achieving it
numerous amounts of times, the soviet union did not dispute it, and finally the
numerous amounts of rock samples brought back.
To begin with, the moon landing is not a hoax because they achieved this impressive
feat nine times and why would NASA fake it so many times and over exaggerate the
lie it if it was a hoax. If it were a hoax someone within the organisation would get it
wrong over the course of those nine trips, and the fact that they did not slip once
means it is true. One of the astronauts on the Apollo 16 mission states that, we have

The Spy Of Spy Ring
Many present day movies make being a spy look like an exciting job title with
huge money rewards at the end of each mission completed. Yet, in the real world
being a spy does not come with any glory, and being a spy was very much looked
down upon during the late 1700s. A spy needs to take risks, and must weigh their
options to find which decision will cause the least amount of casualties. They need
to be intelligent, know how to blend in, and how to become a completely different
person. And to protect themselves, a spy must know how to use information that
they have to blackmail someone if they ever get into a compromising situation.
The Culper Spy Ring was a line of intelligence that was created to give General
George Washington a reliable system to spy on the British. Being apart of this
Ring was not a cakewalk and required many years of sacrifice. In the end however,
the Culper Spy Ring was able to provide General George Washington with
important information such as ambush warnings, British military movements, and
even lead to the capture of Major John AndrГ©. Being a spy was a horrific title,
yet they really should have been given more credit. The Culper Spy Ring would
not have been in our history if it weren t for Benjamin Tallmadge. He was born in
1754 in Setauket, New York, and was a studied at Yale University. While a student
there, Tallmadge developed a close personal friendship with Nathan Hale, who would
also eventually become involved in American espionage,

completed various assessments to assist with providing her options for future
employment. The assessments utilized were Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI),
Holland Codes, Kuder CareerAssessment. Ultimately, determining that this clients
case would be best served by using the Attachment Theory and the Family System
theory in order to assist with making the most effective career choice for this client.
On the first night of my Lifestyle and Career Development class we each were
assigned a partner to work with for the purpose of learning how to initiate a career
counseling case study. My partner for this assignment was Ellen, she and I have
collaborated for the last three in a half months, providing one another with as
much information as possible to make the outcome of this experience as authentic
as possible. Let me start by giving you a little background on Ellen, she is a 25 year
old single woman, raised in Belleville, IL, who comes from a family of four to
include her mother, older sister, her twin and herself. As it stands, her parents
divorced when she was of a young age, and as Ellen recalls, this impacted her
greatly especially being a twin. She remembers having a better relationship with her
mothers family more so than her fathers family. It was not like they did
I m Not Much Of A Crier
I m not much of a crier. I think I cried at Marley and Me, but if you have a dog and
didn t cry at that film then questions certainly need to be asked.
Men will aim to avoid falling under the category of criers . It will take away part of
their masculinity and feel like a sign of weakness.
One thing in life though, will reduce many men (including myself) to tears... and
that s football. It has done so on several occasions in the past and will do for years to
come in the future.
95% of the time these are tears of misery, heartache, despondency, regret,
embarrassment, dejection, anger, rage, sorrow, misery, despair, or in my case as a
QPR fan, all of the above.
But what doesn t make sense to many people is why, why, why, despite the feelings
of crippling depression football leaves us with, do we keep going back?
And the reason for this is that 5%. Every football fan will understand what I mean
when I say there are two or three moments in past matches that you can say you were
there to witness, moments that caused an indescribable feeling unlike any other, one
that you will remember for the rest of your life.
This moment will last a matter of seconds, but will stay with you forever, and as
cheesy as it sounds and as cringe worthy as it feels typing this, it s true.
The one moment that I was lucky enough to be part of took place at Wembley stadium
.
I ll set the scene.
After a long and gruelling season watching 46 Championship matches up and down

Phineas Gage and the Role of the Brain in Cognitive Functioning The brain plays a
key role in cognitive functioning. Of the many areas in the brain, only certain areas
have an impact on cognitive functioning. The case of a man named Phineas Gage
showed key elements of specific areas in the brain that support certain cognitive
functions. The traumatic brain injury that Phineas Gage suffered in 1848 has aided
cognitive and neuropsychologists in making large strides in understanding the human
mind. In the following work, the role of the brain in cognitive functioning will be
examined and better explained. Examples ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Phineas Gage worked as a blaster for the Rutland and Burlington Railroad project
in 1848 (Grieve, 2010). While working for the railroad, one of Gage s duties was
using gunpowder and long iron rods to blast a hole into the rock so as to continue
building the tracks (Grieve, 2010). In a seemingly careless action, a three foot
tamping iron was blown from the ground through Gage s skull (Grieve, 2010).
Instead of killing him, the tamping iron left a large hole all the way through the
skull and brain of Phineas Gage (Grieve, 2010). It is clear that the injury sustained
by Phineas Gage is no ordinary injury. According to the National Institute of
Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), the injury that was sustained by
Phineas Gage can be classified as a traumatic brain injury or a TBI. A traumatic
brain injury can be defined as an injury that occurs when a sudden trauma causes
damage to the brain (NINDS, 2011). Depending on the severity of the injury to the
brain, the symptoms of a traumatic brain injury can include headaches, confusion,
vomiting, dizziness, instability of mood, fatigue, changes in behavior, and blurred
vision amongst many other symptoms (NINDS, 2011). The traumatic brain injury
that Phineas Gage suffered as a result of the tamping iron exploding from the ground
caused obvious immense damage to Gage s brain (Grieve, 2010). A large portion of
Gage s brain was damaged when the tamping

CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
All proposed researches require gathering information about a certain topic. In this
chapter you will read about what our topic is all about and the reasons why we had
come up with this research proposal. 1.1 Background of the Study For centuries up
until the present day, plants have given us so many things to our society. They can
be used as food to give energy or to give cure for some illnesses. It has so many uses
which is important for our daily living. The Origanum vulgare, also known for its
common name Oregano (sometimes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We don t need to import from other countries because the oregano plant is very
much accessible to us Filipinos. Those who will benefit from our research can use
the product in their own homes especially in areas wherein bacteria can accumulate.
Another is that the next generation of students can learn something from our
research. They may get ideas from it and help them in their own study for the
problems that we are experiencing right now may not be the same in the future. 1.4
Scope and Limitations
The goal of our research study is to come up with an oregano disinfectant spray.
The use of this disinfectant spray is to rural households which live in Metro
Manila. It will be done with a few experiments to test its effectiveness. The sources
that we will be getting are from the Philippines. We will use our own products to
give it a more natural and organic spray. We will focus with the use of this sprayer to
other citizens living near bodies of water. This study will cover the viral bacteria,
including germs affecting the community. We base our study with the help of other
international related topics, including the importance of the disinfectant spray. But
this will only help us to know how to deal and experiment with our study. The limits
and the occurrence of this study will only be here in
The Tell-Tale Heart, And Ligeia, By Edgar Allan Poe
After reading the various short stories written by Edgar Allan Poe, it is clear he
had a fascination with eyes. An eye can tell a lot about a human because it is the
tunnel in which life enters the brain, creating the person s personality, memories,
and morals. The quote above is from The Tell Tale Heart and illustrates Poe s love
for eyes and the gateway they provide into the perception we have not only of
ourselves, but others as well. Through his short stories The Black Cat, The Tell Tale
Heart, and Ligeia, Edgar Allen Poe emphasizes the importance of eyes and the role
they play within the human and animal life. Throughout The Black Cat, Poe writes of
a mad man who tortures his cat which he claims to have loved dearly. At the... Show

For eyes we have no models in the remotely antique. It might have been, too, that in
these eyes of my beloved lay the secret to which Lord Verulam alludes. They were,
I must believe, far larger than the ordinary eyes of our own race. They were even
fuller than the fullest of the gazelle eyes of the tribe of the valley of Nourjahad. Yet it
was only at intervals in moments of intense excitement that this peculiarity became
more than slightly noticeable in Ligeia (113).
This quote describes the narrator s take on Ligeia s eyes and how he is astonished
by their allure. Every time the eyes are spoken of, the narrator seems to be taken
over by a spell. As the story continues, Ligeia s large eyes create a symbol of the
superstitious side to the narrator because he is so fascinated with their unnatural
size. This causes the narrator to question whether or not Ligeia is human or a form
of mystic. The link between Ligeia and The Tell Tale Heart is due to the ways Poe
writes about the effects the eyes have upon the narrators. As mentioned before,
Ligeia s eyes cast a spell upon the narrator who feels like he is in a trance whenever
her eyes grow larger. In The Tell Tale Heart the narrator is terrified the eyes may take
over the old man and his own souls as
Research Paper On Black Kitchen
Black kitchen 19 Designer Ideas for modern home
Black is always in, but when it comes to kitchen equipment, has mixed feelings
about it. A black kitchen can however look very chic. In a combination with white or
wood a stylish contemporary kitchen is the result. It combines the dark colors with an
optical effect of the narrower space.
When combined with other colors of black correctly, the kitchen looks even greater.
Explore these designer kitchens and be inspired, like the black color in your kitchen
equipment may include.

with vintage patterns, rustic brick wall and smooth white porcelain sink in harmony
with the black fronts.

confer with black furniture a dramatic contrast and sense of spaciousness to your
kitchen.

Even a kitchen in country style. Black upper and lower cabinets are in addition to
kitchen appliances. This is an elegant design that combined diverse materials.
Modern bright kitchen with black accents

device in black. You can use the color as an accent and select Black for only a few
pieces of furniture. This kitchen is a good example. To have the same time a bright
room with the chic black color.

not fall so much in the eye at first glance. Thus, the soil is, for example. Underline

Public Employment And A Percentage Of Availability...
Due to reservations, Dalits and schedules castes are provided public employment
and a percentage of availability guaranteed apart from having reserved electoral
districts. With a rapid growth in population, the idea of what a traditional caste is
has shifted from determining ones economic wealth and class status to having a
better idea of where ones stands on the political spectrum which partly benefits
those wishing to politically appeal to the Dalits. Thus, the idea of castes has slowly
shifted from a socio economic status given to one at birth to now, a political strategy
used to form strong political parties and alliances by promising Schedule Classes and
other Backward Classes, who generate much of Indias population, newfound
political change. However, it is not that simple. Although the idea of quotas and
reservations are appealing and a great step towards equalization, through Lecture 2,
it pointed out that these reservations aren t as effective in minimizing the political
disparity between castes. This is in part because when reservations and politics are
combined, it is useless as researcher Jensenius puts it, because politicians are
controlled completely by their parties and will not take action that goes against the
party s beliefs. Although reservations may not be taking effect as quickly as some
had hoped, that does not mean it isn t taking effect at all. The Schedule Classes and
other Backward Classes have been underrepresented while being underprivileged
Androgyny And Masculinity
Many people believe that he is gay. He dresses in feminine colors and treats others
with a more delicate touch, but can be aggressive and hard working. He exhibits
qualities that men and women both have. He goes beyond the rules society has set
for him. He s a straight male who wears pink, doesn t have a naturally aggressive
personality, and is okay with feelings. Maybe you re a bit confused. The man
described is a very generalized depiction of the word androgyny. Androgynous men
and women show equally masculine and feminine traits. Today in our world, men and
women alike are bound to the idea that men must be masculine and women must be
feminine, but that isn t the case.
Being a high school student, masculinity and femininity don t play a huge role in
day to day life, but, when you take a step back and really look, you see this idea is
everywhere. Starting at the beginning of your life, gender identity and gender roles
are present in the color hat you wear; boys wear blue, girls wear pink. From the
very first time your mother holds you in her arms, she can associate you with an
idea of what your gender represents. Boys tend to be the ones who play more sports,
have more fights, and be more stubborn while girls tend to join more clubs, dress in

Instead this idea and way of living is a way of creating a more connective way of
thinking between the sexes. In turn, this not only benefits the individual person but
also would virtually get rid of gender roles in a social setting like work or school by
making everyone more

Chimney Sweeper William Blake
William Blake proved himself as one of the most influential artists to spring from
the Romantic Era without a doubt. What made Blake so popular may have been
his ability to portray his time period in works of art that were beautifully crafted.
Blake s poetry was not appreciated during his lifetime because people were living
the lives his works vicariously told, but once his time period ended, a historical
book was left behind. The theme of a struggle is most prominently showcased in
Blake s poetry. Whether it be Blake depicting women and their power struggle
throughout the 18th or 19th century, or depicting the lives of the children put into the
labor force at a very early age. These children were put in a tunnel (almost literally

By the speakers hair remaining white, the unobstructed purity is showcased. The
color white makes a second appearance in the first The Chimney Sweeper here, Then
naked and white, all their bags left behind . This passage literally shows the
childrens innocence because their young bodies were bare. When a newborn enters
the world, this is truly the most innocent time in ones life. Through Blakes allusion
to the naked, pure, and free bodies he is emphasizing their continued innocence. The
irony of the color white in this passage is showcased because more than 65% of the
chimney sweeps were black (Simkin 1), restating that the color white is only inserted
in the poem to symbolize innocence (Smith 1).
The transition from The Chimney Sweeper in Songs of Innocence to the other The
Chimney Sweeper in Songs of Experience is a jurassic change of perspective by
the narrator. In the second poem, no façade is placed on the fact that the children
are not innocent. The first line of this poem references the lack of innocence, A little
black thing among the snow, and like previously stated, it is understood that the
color white signifies innocence so on the contrary, the color black represents
corruption. Tom Dacre again states that he knows his life is a tragic one when he
says, They clothed me in the clothes of death. This is directly

  • 2. Human Rights During The Enlightenment Era The Enlightenment era was a significant time period in which many advancements were made in the understanding of science, philosophy, and the first introduction to human rights. Many philosophers such as Thomas Hobbes and John Locke wrote articles regarding the role of an individual and the role they play in society. They also elaborated on how the government is supposed to respect and honor these inalienable human rightsattained during birth. The ideas that were presented during this time period have continued to have an impact in today s society and provide an understanding of how humans around the world, regardless of gender, race, social status, and religion, deserve to be treated. Individuals are entitled to enjoy the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health, and FGM takes away a woman s right to this according to Article 12 of the Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights Covenant. The Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women committee has recommended that governments devise health policies that focus on the need of girls and adolescents who have to be subjected to practices like FGM that are significant parts of their culture . It is very important to realize that groups like CEDAW work very hard to combat issues like FGM, but it is difficult when they are fighting against generation old practices. Female genital has many health consequences that come from complications with the procedure. These consequences are not only physical, but psychological as well. FGM most commonly takes place in remote, rural areas by traditional practitioners or midwives who have never had formal training. The midwives will often use knives, razors, or broken glass that are not sterile to cut the young girls. Not only with the materials be unsterile, but the procedure is usually performed in unsanitary conditions . Short term complications from the procedure include excessive bleeding, genital tissue swelling, infections, HIV, urination problems, impaired wound healing, and even death. • 3. Similarities Between The Thirteen British Colonies The thirteen British colonies share many similarities as the building blocks of the United States of America we have today. As much as they are similar, they are separated by different origins and histories. Arranged by their geographic locations, the colonies can be organized into New England, Middle, and Southern colonies, each having a specific pattern of development. In the cases of politics, religion, legal systems, and economy, the thirteen are very much alike. Before settling in America, all the original colonists lived under Britain s rule. Forms of Protestantism were practiced throughout the colonies. All trading followed mercantilism rules. At various degrees, all colonies fought the Natives due to land ownership. Salutary Neglect
  • 4. White Noise Loss Of Knowledge Quotes Many changes have happened during the end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century mostly in technological advances. These changes have allowed humans to obtain products and information much quicker and also helped expand the work industry. Acquiring information and products has never been any simpler. The only problem is that these things are being handed out without us actually knowing where they come from. We trust these systems that are out of sight more than our own judgment. Don DeLillo s novel White Noise demonstrates how most people of this time will have complete faith in information, experts or products given to them from unknown sources, but will distrust their own judgment and knowledge. Throughout Don DeLillo s novel, characters will doubt their own judgments and thoughts. These characters... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Several times throughout the book, the members of Jack s family will not know what to answer or what to do when they encounter a question or a problem. Heinrich is a good example in this book. He is interrogated several times, but he is unable to answer the question with his own judgment. He resorts to experts or avoids the question by asking more questions. While Heinrich was in a car with Jack, Jack asks Heinrich if it was indeed raining outside, which it was. Heinrich then claims that My truth means nothing. (Don DeLillo 23) Heinrich does not trust his own knowledge making it useless. He thinks that his judgment should not be taken into consideration. Later on in the novel, Heinrich is asked if he would like to go to the ashram this summer by his mother. Once again, he claims that he does not know any better and that Who knows what [he] wants to do? (45) Heinrich is incapable of judging for himself and
  • 5. South African American History In the 1830s, the British Government began to look to South Africa for the abundant gold and diamond in the area, as well as, with the hopes of gaining control of the most strategic port and route to trade with India. The British acted quickly, and started to take control of the cape of South Africa. In 1833, they emancipated the Afrikaners slaves, created more taxes, and auctioned off previously communal land. This caused great rage within the Boercommunity. The Boers were Dutch and Huguenot people that migrated to South Africain the late 17th century (Great Trek). The Journal Of Helene Berr And Free Men Perseverance in The Journal of HГ©lГЁne Berr and Free Men Kailene Dolan In order to fully understand a city or its history, you must also try to understand the people living within it. The Journal of HГ©lГЁne Berr and the film Free Men provide insight for this and have some very strong shared themes. One very important theme of both the journal and the movie is perseverance. Both the journal and the film are set in German occupied Parisduring World War II. They provide insight into the way people of specific religions and backgrounds lived and thought during a dark time in Paris s history. Many people, including those who were not from France, expressed their loyalty to the city of Paris and their unwillingness to step down through their thoughts and actions. Through this theme in both the journal and the film, one can better understand the mindset and the way of thinking of certain groups of Parisians in occupied Paris. In The Journal of HГ©lГЁne Berr, we are given the first hand account of a young Jewish woman in Paris during the German occupation. This primary source provides a strong insight into how Paris was changing before HГ©lГЁne s eyes. HГ©lГЁne started keeping a journal to preserve memories, but over time, as the German occupation started to change her life, it became something more. Her writing became darker, because so did her outlook. For one, towards the end of the
  • 8. The Mayo Clinic 1.As per the Mayo Clinic the symptoms that the patient encountered is related to a pituitary adenoma, due to the tumor pressure (www.mayoclinic.org). The visual disturbances and headaches indicate an increase growth, which causes pressure to the surrounding area. The weight gain and increase in shoe size is caused by an increase production in growth hormone. Excess production in growth hormone can cause enlarged hands and feet. 2. The pituitary adenoma itself may put pressure on the remaining normal part of the pituitary gland and limit or destroy its ability to produce hormones appropriately (Stewart Vance). With the increase in tumor pressure the patient may experience nausea and vomiting. The pituitary adenoma may cause body hair loss, sexual dysfunction, increase frequency and increase amount of urination. The pituitary adenoma is growth hormone secreting tumor causing the hands and feet to enlarge (www.mayoclinic.org). A growth hormone adenoma is the reason for the unexplained weight gain and the change in shoe size from 10 to 12. 3. The cause of the high urine output postop is due to diabetes insipidus. Diabetes insipidus (DI) is a common complication following pituitary surgery (Schreckinger, Szerli Mittal, 2012). There are two subsets within Diabetes insipidus, nephrogenic and neurogenic. Neurogenic (or central) DI occurs when there is inadequate secretion of AVP from the hypothalamus . This can be hereditary, idiopathic, or due to injury to the

The mafia also had motivation for the involvement or carrying out the hit with Robert Kennedy, JFK s brother and attorney general having made moves against organized crime, possibly angering them, but what many proponents of this Mafia theory point back to is Jack Ruby who killed Lee Harvey Oswald, he was a Dallas nightclub owner with known mafia connections but the Warren commission concluded that Ruby didn t work within a conspiracy as well as in 1979 The House Select Committee on Assassinations stated that The committee believes, on the basis of the evidence available to it, that the national syndicate of organized crime, as a group, was not involved in the assassination of President Kennedy, but that the available evidence does not preclude the possibility that individual members may have been involved . • 11. Analysis Of Anne Of Green Gabless After the First World War ended, the Anne of Green Gables series by L.M. Montgomery became an important part of Polish life (Wachowicz 9). Wachowicz in her article, L.M. Montgomery: at home in Poland , suggests the series appealed to Polish citizens during this time, because it offered a kind of practical romance and cheerfulness that was needed during this period of reconstruction and independence (11). The first polish edition of Anne of Green Gables(Ania z Zielonego Wzgbrza) was published in 1912, and from 1919 to 1939 Anne of Green Gables was published another seven times, and the other novels in the series were also published multiple times (8 9). The CBC reported that series was so popular, that some of the novels were given to polish troops during the Second World War, to remind them of values such as love, home and family (Anne of Green Gables big in Poland). Yet despite the series popularity, it was briefly banned from 1953 to 1956 during Poland s communist regime (Wachowicz 9). This seemingly innocent series was banned for many reasons, such as that it was influenced by western thinking, or that it was too unrealistic, and distracted people from contemporary problems (Looby 15). In addition, the series was considered to show resistance to[wards] authority, and an uncompromising emphasis on the value of the individual (Anne of Green Gables big in Poland). While all of these reasons are valid, due to the limited scope of this essay, I will focus on the

Somalia at War Essay Africa is a rich continent with an abundance of resources, diverse cultures, exotic people and exciting traditions, yet it seems as though it is perpetually facing armed conflict (Lukunka, 2012). Of the conflicts Africa is facing currently, Somalia is the center for some of the largest conflicts. The history of Somalia has been hit with conflict after conflict, not only between rival clans but also with other countries, most recently between not only regional powers but also the US and Al Qaida. The current conflict in Somalia differs from the rest due to the number and type of players involved; the large numbers of foreign players involved in local affairs and the role radical Islam is playing in the conflict. Among those are oil and global trade, maritime security, armed conflicts and violent extremist that are tied to radical Islamic views like al Qaeda. With protecting the homeland being one of the U.S. top priorities Al Qaeda and their sympathizers are their number one concern. U.S. interest in Somalia has shifted back and forth over the decades with changing security and strategic interest. Currently U.S. interest in Somalia range from piracy, trade, humanitarian issues, broader regional stability and terrorism, with the principle interest to the U.S since 9/11 being terrorism. With extremist such as youth militants and Al Shabaab clearly stating their jihadist intentions and abundant opportunity to cause disorder both in Somalia and abroad, the international community is left wondering if these insurgent groups have the long term means to implement their religious visions or whether the government, with or without help, will be able to fight them. If the United States were to use The Partner Nation Capability, which conducts exercises through Security Forces Assistance programs like SMEE s (partnered with Law Enforcement or LE), Theater Cooperation Plan or TCP, and officer exchange programs, that can assist the Somalia government with building a force
  • 13. Analysis Of Power And Time By Mary Oliver Mary Oliver, a Pulitzer Prize winning author/poet, uses her essay Of Power and Time describes to readers the creative process that goes along with writing, and the obstacles associated with it (Poetry). She then explores various contexts in which creativity exists, or should/should not exist. Although many readers can appreciate what Oliver has to offer, she mainly directs her writingtowards people who yearn for creativitybut cannot find the time to develop it. Oliver uses a specific word choice, anomalous organization, elaborate analogies, bias, and a connection to religion in order to convey the idea that creativity takes time and effort. The word choice Oliver uses is very specific to this essay and her argument. Throughout her writing, she uses very descriptive language in her various analogies. Some examples of this are silver morning, white spider belly, stained with light, etc (Oliver 620 623). This vivid language allows readers to visualize and get the full effect of Oliver s main idea. She also uses poetic language at moments, which makes sense with her very successful poetry background, which includes various awards (Poetry). Examples of this are found throughout her essay. For instance, in paragraph five, Oliver says, I am, myself, three selves at least, (Oliver 620). This creative use of words provides readers with pleasant contrast from most formal writings. Overall, Oliver s word choice was unique to her essay and provided a unique
  • 14. Introduction Of Walt Disney Company According to Giroux, The Walt Disney Company has extended its purpose and reach outside of entertainment, and this idea is evident today. In the beginning, the company focused on its animated films, but nowadays, that is only a portion of what the company has created. Toys, books, movies, CDs, clothing, and endless products that feature Disney characters can be found in most physical and online stores. Furthermore, Disney keeps its characters alive with theme parks and resorts found throughout the world. Disney also owns hundreds of radio stations and several TV networks. There is no doubt that the company has grown into an industry, and it is an industry that owes its accomplishments to the image it has built over the decades. Because Disney is a media conglomerate worth billions, maintaining its reputation is key to financial success. Disney is known as a family friendly company, and through the years, it has determined what families deem appropriate for viewers of all ages. The company collects this information and then recycles what it knows works. Every aspect of an animated Disney film is studied in order to ensure that it fits the Disney mold. Formulas exist in the form of characters, themes, art, music, plot devices, and more. Despite being products of the late 20th century and early 21st century, Mulan and Moana are no exception to this recycling of formulas. For example, the protagonists, Mulan and Moana, are not the only rebellious daughters from the Disney
  • 15. Anne Sexton Woman I have been her kind. (Sexton, lines 1 7) Here, Sexton is not meaning that she has literally been a witch, but she empathizes with the persecuted women of earlier centuries. When Sexton states that she is braver at night and that she has done her hitch/over the plain houses, she is verbally expressing that the tenebrosity is her only escape from the judging ocular perceivers of people who lead impeccable, conventional lives in suburbia. (Sexton, lines 3 4). The orator kens what it is relish to be the isolated witch who does not fit the typical woman s mold, and who is a lonely thing that is cast out of society for not fitting in. (Sexton, line 5). By saying that a woman like that is not a woman, quite, she is exhibiting that people view women who are non conformist as flawed and not even as legitimate women. In the second stanza, Sexton goes on to say that the speaker has: Found the warm caves in the woods, Filled them with skillets, carvings, shelves, Closets, silks, innumerable goods; Fixed the suppers for the worms and the elves: Whining, rearranging the disaligned. A woman like that is misunderstood. I have been her kind. (Sexton, lines 8 14) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She seems to be unhappy with the long established, traditional image of a woman: One who fixes the suppers for her family, rearranges the misaligned in her domicile, and who is whiny and repining (Sexton, lines 11 13). In the same way that the witch is isolated because of the stigmas annexed to her lifestyle, Sexton is verbalizing that a housewife can be solitary and misunderstood as well because of the isolation that emanates from her subordinate role in society. Just as the witch or outcast is misconstrue as malevolent or manipulating, the housewife can be misread as a nonessential or lesser

The two stories Breaking through Uncertainty and Neighbours are both stories about how big the benefits are when risks have been taken. The first short story is about how a skydiver must overcome his own uncertainty, to save himself from certain death. While the other story is still dramatic, just in a different tone; it s about a young woman, who must decide whether or not a friendship is worth standing up for something that s right. The protagonists in both stories, have to take risks, and they re both rewarded for taking those risks; one with his life, and the other with a stronger friendship. Even though the skydiver is risking his life, the protagonist in Neighbours had more gut to do what she had to do, where is the skydiver just let second nature take over. Above all, the protagonists both did experience serious risktaking moments, and they both benefited for the greater good. Breaking Through Uncertainty by Jim McCormick is about how a skydiver is plummeting to his death, and he has got to figure out how to save himself. All the while the skydiver must deal with his self doubt. Pros And Cons Of Uniform Crime Report UCR or known as the Uniform crime reports is an annual report published by the FBI in the DOJ, which is meant to estimate most of the major street crimes in the United States. The main purpose of the UCR is basically to collect as many crimes or reliable crimes that come up as crime statistics so it can be used in our law enforcement administration. The Ucr is a very helpful tool for the law. The system was created in 1929. It provided information for criminologists, sociologists, and even the media. The Ucr mostly concentrates on assaults and robberies. The NIBRS or the national incident based reporting system is the system that the government uses for gathering data about recent or past crimes. An interesting fact about the NIBRS is that the survey is done twice a year at random.Measuring crime is essential believe it or not. How are we going to know which crimes have risen and which crimes have not. We measure crime for various reasons. One of those reasons is explanation. how are we going to know what happened at the crime scene. It is also used for evaluation, that addresses criminal activity. Crime statistics are commonly known to be used for political purposes. NCVS has a lot in
  • 18. Chinese Kinship Systems Essay Chinese Kinship Systems Works Cited Missing It would be impossible to disagree with the statement that Chinese kinship is based on male predominance . In fact this statement may even be under emphasizing the control and absolute power that males wield across all levels of Chinese society. Of course, where their power initially comes from though, is through the family or termed differently the jia . It is this extended or ideal family that cultivates the consistent patrilineal form of control/descent and dictates that residence in said jia is primarily patrilocal. That being said, what I hope to be able to create over the following pages is a clearer understanding of the ideal (Chinese) system of control. This ideal system, based on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will return to this point later, but before going anywhere further it is best to ask why a son was so important in the first place? There is, of course, a myriad of strong reasons, one reason being that surnames were passed down through the male line. This process meant that a male child was needed to take the surname of their father not their mother. Meaning that surname in China was integral to creating a kinship system, which placed heavy emphasis on male superiority. It was through this handed down surname, that the massive kinship systems such as a lineage or a clan could be generated and held together over generations and generations. Hereditary surnames were also the primary form of hierarchical family organization, and were inherently needed to practice ancestor worship. This type of worship, through a patrilineal method, was exercised even after kinship members had long since been deceased. The handing of the surname to a father s son (s), then meant that he now existed to continue not only his present family but the extended family that came before him, and the jia that would surface in the future. Baker s use of a rope metaphor works well here, depicting a rope (standing for male heirs and descendents) which stretches back into the past and forward into the future. The rope at any one time may be thicker or thinner according to the number of strands (jia) or fibers (male individuals) which exist, but so long as one fiber remains the rope is there....That is
  • 19. Georg Cantor Georg Cantor I. Georg Cantor Georg Cantor founded set theory and introduced the concept of infinite numbers with his discovery of cardinal numbers. He also advanced the study of trigonometric series and was the first to prove the nondenumerability of the real numbers. Georg Ferdinand Ludwig Philipp Cantor was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, on March 3, 1845. His family stayed in Russia for eleven years until the father s sickly health forced them to move to the more acceptable environment of Frankfurt, Germany, the place where Georg would spend the rest of his life. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There simply is no biggest number. Is infinity a number? Is there anything bigger than infinity? How about infinity plus one? What s infinity plus infinity? What about infinity times infinity? Children to whom the concept of infinity is brand new, pose questions like this and don t usually get very satisfactory answers. For adults, these questions don t seem to have very much bearing on daily life, so their unsatisfactory answers don t seem to be a matter of concern. At the turn of the century Cantor applied the tools of mathematical rigor and logical deduction to questions about infinity in search of satisfactory answers. His conclusions are paradoxical to our everyday experience, yet they are mathematically sound. The world of our everyday experience is finite. We can t exactly say where the boundary line is, but beyond the finite, in the realm of the transfinite, things are different. Sets and Set Theory Cantor is the founder of the branch of mathematics called Set Theory, which is at the foundation of much of 20th century mathematics. At the heart of Set Theory is a hall of mirrors the paradoxical infinity. Georg Cantor was known to have said, I see it, but I do not believe it, about one of his proofs. The set is the mathematical object which Cantor scrutinized. He defined a set as any collection of well distinguished and well defined objects

The man and the officer exchange words, and soon after a physical altercation ensues. According to the man s statement, the officer was out of line, assaulted him, and his privacy was violated by the use of the camera. The officer s statement, however, said that he was trying to question the man about being intoxicated and the usage of vulgar language, when the subject then began threatening him and ultimately began the attack on him; the officer continued to state he used the minimum amount of force necessary to minimize the threat. The man was ultimately convicted by the video evidence. Police officers feel that wearing body worn cameras will provide all the necessary evidence in any given situation, and protect them from public scrutiny, while the public believes that their privacy is being violated, and at too high of a financial cost. Police officers and public citizens must each concede to find the truth. In the past, police officers and the public only had their word as their testimony. They had no choice but to try convince the jury that their side of the story was the truth. High profile cases between officers and the public have left the public searching and wanting answers. Some law enforcement departments have added another piece of equipment to their police officers for their added protection, while they patrol the streets. This controversial piece of

This type of development is ubiquitous in the United States since the end of World War II. Urban sprawl or suburban sprawl has raised immense number of concerns in various areas, such as: environmental impacts, loss of farmland, traffic problems, urban decline, taxpayer subsidy, loss of community, housing, as well as some unspecific concerns. The objective of this paper is to demonstrate in depth the major reasons that make urban sprawl exorbitant in the aforementioned areas. Phoenix, AZ is a great example of a city which has significantly suffers from this phenomenal due to excessive urban sprawl. Harvey Bryan, senior sustainability scientist at ASU s School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture says: It s a magnitude now of about 12 degrees above our historical nighttime lows. It was very typical to have summer evenings of 78 degrees back in the 1950s. Today we rarely go below 90. I think we re headed to conditions where we have 100 degrees as our maximum nighttime low. Loss of Farmland Farmlands are being lost for the creation of new highways, fringe industrial parks and sprawl housing developments. The loss of farmland would minimize our capability to grow fiber and food. The increase in property tax due to the pressure of urban development has forced farmer to lose their business. They inevitably have to sell their farmland for different type of housing development. U.S. Census of Agriculture reported a decline in farmland acres from about 938.3 million in 2002 to about 922.1 million in 2007, a loss of 1.7 percent. The loss of farmland would reduce the quality and quantity of food supply due to the possible shortcoming of arable agricultural lands. As a consequence, the price of food would increase skyrocketing as the food supply

If not well looked after, it can creates a significant burden on logistic costs. Fortunately, some countries including Indonesia are now realizing that the need of bettering infrastructure is paramount. Unfortunately, regarding its tight fiscal space, Indonesia is now searching for development funds to bridge its infrastructure funding gap. This project report discusses some Indonesia s potential policy options and explains what option the government should pursue. Indonesia s current economic situation After the 1998 economic crisis, Indonesia s economy has been known to be quite resilient. It has persistent positive growth and strong fiscal and macroeconomic regimes. In the last decade, the public debt of the country has been decreasing from 100 percent in 1998 to 24.5 percent in 2012. Indonesia has also maintained its positive growth trend averaging 5.5 percent in the same period ( UU APBN , 2016). In the last 2008 economic crisis, Indonesia kept showing its resilience by maintaining its positive growth at 4.5 percent in 2009. The paper will start with characterizing the idea of social responsibility and noting the accompanying inquiries: What does Cohen feel is the social responsibility of a business to its workers, stakeholders, and society as a whole? How does this perspective align with that of Drucker? How does Cohen s opinion compare with that of Friedman? Which aligns best with the current business climate promoting a green environment ? Why? Social Responsibility Druker inferred that each organization must accept full responsibility regarding its effect on workers, the earth, clients, and whomever and whatever it touches is social responsibility (Cohen, 2009 p. 31). Generally, social responsibility is a leadership commitment to society and that organizational must act as needs be to accommodate the well being and interest of the general public that it influences. Social responsibility can t be satisfied through governments alone which is the place where hierarchical social responsibility becomes possibly the most important factor. Moreover, there are numerous aspects in social responsibility, it simply depends of which venue of social responsibility is followed up on to encourage financial assistance. For instance, Cohen (2009) indicated a number of elusive contrasts by means of two distinctive rich business visionaries

Acknowledging the spies charge and dependence upon one another, this group is a collection of individuals who are interdependent given their instructions to collectively investigate the land of Canaan (Johnson and Johnson, 2013, p. 6). The author himself is not a main character in the story, but observes the lives of the main characters from his experiences with them with a vast and deep understanding of their lives. The first character introduced is Elliot Templeton. Elliot a wealthy European aristocrat, throws extravagant parties and entertains individuals of very high social class. Elliot brings the author into his social crowd and they become very close friends. In fact, Elliot had many acquaintances from his parties, but very few friends. Larry represented ethical relativism several ways. He never discredited anyone. He didn t believe in a certain religion, but said that each was as plausible as the next. He recognized the existence of a greater power and searched to find it. He enjoyed learning from anyone willing to teach and read a great many books about things many didn t believe in. Larry is such a fascinating character, once you think you ve figured him out, he surprises you with something completely unexpected. This is why Larry represents so many different ethical aspects and cannot be put into a single category like the other characters. Elliot, in my opinion, represented ethical altruism. He treated everyone with the utmost respect and was always courteous. He through parties and invited anyone who would feel left out if not invited, even if he didn t like them. He donated large sums of money to a church, and took care of people who didn t have enough for themselves like he did for Isabel. Elliot s problem was that, while he treated others very well, the people he cared for didn t care for him, just his

This was most impressive feat of innovation in the history of mankind but some conspiracy theorist think it was all just a to political stunt. This people who think it is a hoax have no idea what they are talking about because they are either crazy or do not trust the government. The evidence that support the moonlanding are abundant, these include achieving it numerous amounts of times, the soviet union did not dispute it, and finally the numerous amounts of rock samples brought back. To begin with, the moon landing is not a hoax because they achieved this impressive feat nine times and why would NASA fake it so many times and over exaggerate the lie it if it was a hoax. If it were a hoax someone within the organisation would get it wrong over the course of those nine trips, and the fact that they did not slip once means it is true. One of the astronauts on the Apollo 16 mission states that, we have been to the moon nine times, why would we fake it nine times, if we faked it? . • 40. The Spy Of Spy Ring Many present day movies make being a spy look like an exciting job title with huge money rewards at the end of each mission completed. Yet, in the real world being a spy does not come with any glory, and being a spy was very much looked down upon during the late 1700s. A spy needs to take risks, and must weigh their options to find which decision will cause the least amount of casualties. They need to be intelligent, know how to blend in, and how to become a completely different person. And to protect themselves, a spy must know how to use information that they have to blackmail someone if they ever get into a compromising situation. The Culper Spy Ring was a line of intelligence that was created to give General George Washington a reliable system to spy on the British. Being apart of this Ring was not a cakewalk and required many years of sacrifice. In the end however, the Culper Spy Ring was able to provide General George Washington with important information such as ambush warnings, British military movements, and even lead to the capture of Major John AndrГ©. Being a spy was a horrific title, yet they really should have been given more credit. The Culper Spy Ring would not have been in our history if it weren t for Benjamin Tallmadge. He was born in 1754 in Setauket, New York, and was a studied at Yale University. While a student there, Tallmadge developed a close personal friendship with Nathan Hale, who would also eventually become involved in American espionage,

Of the many areas in the brain, only certain areas have an impact on cognitive functioning. The case of a man named Phineas Gage showed key elements of specific areas in the brain that support certain cognitive functions. Phineas Gage worked as a blaster for the Rutland and Burlington Railroad project in 1848 (Grieve, 2010). While working for the railroad, one of Gage s duties was using gunpowder and long iron rods to blast a hole into the rock so as to continue building the tracks (Grieve, 2010). In a seemingly careless action, a three foot tamping iron was blown from the ground through Gage s skull (Grieve, 2010). Instead of killing him, the tamping iron left a large hole all the way through the skull and brain of Phineas Gage (Grieve, 2010). It is clear that the injury sustained by Phineas Gage is no ordinary injury. According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), the injury that was sustained by Phineas Gage can be classified as a traumatic brain injury or a TBI. A traumatic brain injury can be defined as an injury that occurs when a sudden trauma causes damage to the brain (NINDS, 2011). An eye can tell a lot about a human because it is the tunnel in which life enters the brain, creating the person s personality, memories, and morals. The quote above is from The Tell Tale Heart and illustrates Poe s love for eyes and the gateway they provide into the perception we have not only of ourselves, but others as well. Through his short stories The Black Cat, The Tell Tale Heart, and Ligeia, Edgar Allen Poe emphasizes the importance of eyes and the role they play within the human and animal life. For eyes we have no models in the remotely antique. It might have been, too, that in these eyes of my beloved lay the secret to which Lord Verulam alludes. They were, I must believe, far larger than the ordinary eyes of our own race. They were even fuller than the fullest of the gazelle eyes of the tribe of the valley of Nourjahad. Yet it was only at intervals in moments of intense excitement that this peculiarity became more than slightly noticeable in Ligeia (113). This quote describes the narrator s take on Ligeia s eyes and how he is astonished by their allure. Every time the eyes are spoken of, the narrator seems to be taken over by a spell. As the story continues, Ligeia s large eyes create a symbol of the superstitious side to the narrator because he is so fascinated with their unnatural size. This causes the narrator to question whether or not Ligeia is human or a form of mystic. The link between Ligeia and The Tell Tale Heart is due to the ways Poe writes about the effects the eyes have upon the narrators. As mentioned before, Ligeia s eyes cast a spell upon the narrator who feels like he is in a trance whenever her eyes grow larger. In The Tell Tale Heart the narrator is terrified the eyes may take over the old man and his own souls as

Due to reservations, Dalits and schedules castes are provided public employment and a percentage of availability guaranteed apart from having reserved electoral districts. With a rapid growth in population, the idea of what a traditional caste is has shifted from determining ones economic wealth and class status to having a better idea of where ones stands on the political spectrum which partly benefits those wishing to politically appeal to the Dalits. Thus, the idea of castes has slowly shifted from a socio economic status given to one at birth to now, a political strategy used to form strong political parties and alliances by promising Schedule Classes and other Backward Classes, who generate much of Indias population, newfound political change. However, it is not that simple. Although the idea of quotas and reservations are appealing and a great step towards equalization, through Lecture 2, it pointed out that these reservations aren t as effective in minimizing the political disparity between castes. This is in part because when reservations and politics are combined, it is useless as researcher Jensenius puts it, because politicians are controlled completely by their parties and will not take action that goes against the party s beliefs. Although reservations may not be taking effect as quickly as some had hoped, that does not mean it isn t taking effect at all. The Schedule Classes and other Backward Classes have been underrepresented while being underprivileged

Through Blakes allusion to the naked, pure, and free bodies he is emphasizing their continued innocence. The irony of the color white in this passage is showcased because more than 65% of the chimney sweeps were black (Simkin 1), restating that the color white is only inserted in the poem to symbolize innocence (Smith 1). The transition from The Chimney Sweeper in Songs of Innocence to the other The Chimney Sweeper in Songs of Experience is a jurassic change of perspective by the narrator. In the second poem, no façade is placed on the fact that the children are not innocent. The first line of this poem references the lack of innocence, A little black thing among the snow, and like previously stated, it is understood that the color white signifies innocence so on the contrary, the color black represents corruption.
