The digestive system breaks down food into nutrients and wastes. The excretory system, which includes the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra, works to filter wastes from the blood and remove them from the body in urine. The kidneys filter waste from the blood, which then travels through the ureters to the bladder. The bladder stores urine until it is excreted through the urethra. Together this system removes toxins from the body through urine production and excretion.
