Today’s busy life constantly comes with packages of stress, anxiety, and apprehension; all of which are not invited to a healthy happy life. To cope, people search for therapies and guidance on how to limit or eradicate these things from daily schedules. However, the answer may be much simpler than that. If anything, it is to calm down and take everything slowly; the definition of Zen.

Introduction to Postpartum Depression in Partners
Welcome to the incredible world of being a parent and partner which should be filled with fun and happy feelings all the time right, which is what may have brought you here as to why you are feeling the way you are.
It’s a lot to take on new responsibilities with raising a newborn, supporting mom, holding a job, and taking care of yourself as well, hence these overwhelming emotions you are experiencing. YOU ARE NOT ALONE in what you are going through and your awareness of changes in your overall mental well being are the first step in identifying Postpartum depression.
Pat yourself on the back because your well-being is a fundamental piece to fostering a healthy life filled with love, gratitude, and confidence in supporting your new family.
Importance of early diagnosis of Postpartum depression
Self-awareness is one of the most powerful muscles a human can exercise throughout their entire life. The significance of self-awareness with regard to a condition like postpartum depression is paramount in reducing the severity and duration of it.
Early detection of postpartum warning signs will lead to taking proactive actions through seeking support, and treatment, and living the compelling future you deserve.
Hiding from your feelings, turning a blind eye to your shift in attitude, and covering up the uncomfortable new emotions will only lead to a compounding effect of your symptoms.
By embracing a mentality of choosing to take back your life through seeking support and being open with your feelings you will have already taken the most important step in fulfilling a life filled with love, confidence, and gratitude.
Most common Postpartum warning signs to look out
Now that the groundwork has been laid for the importance of early detection of postpartum warning signs, let’s take a look at the early signs that could indicate an onset of PPD.
These are in no specific order and are not limited to what you may be experiencing.
Lack of self-worth and feelings of guilt
Increased difficulty with making decisions or basic cognitive functions
Wavering confidence in taking care of your child and supporting mom
Social withdrawal or isolation from family and friends
Loss of interest in hobbies or activities formerly enjoyed
Overwhelming feelings of stress, anxiety, and hopelessness
Growing irritability, anger, or even mood swings that are unexplainable
Eating patterns have changed to unhealthier decisions
Decreased levels of energy or significant change in sleep routine
As becoming a new parent and supportive partner to a mom can be a huge undertaking, it is important to differentiate between that and the postpartum warning signs.
While there can be a fine line in some cases, it is usually a significant alteration in your demeanor that should be a red flag for early preventative action.
Low self-worth and confidence
Feeling worthless as a partner can be common during pregnancy, as there so

RESULTS: Overall life span (LS) was 2252.1±1742.5 days and cumulative 5-year survival (5YS) reached 73.2%, 10 years – 64.8%, 20 years – 42.5%. 513 LCP lived more than 5 years (LS=3124.6±1525.6 days), 148 LCP – more than 10 years (LS=5054.4±1504.1 days).199 LCP died because of LC (LS=562.7±374.5 days). 5YS of LCP after bi/lobectomies was significantly superior in comparison with LCP after pneumonectomies (78.1% vs.63.7%, P=0.00001 by log-rank test). AT significantly improved 5YS (66.3% vs. 34.8%) (P=0.00000 by log-rank test) only for LCP with N1-2. Cox modeling displayed that 5YS of LCP significantly depended on: phase transition (PT) early-invasive LC in terms of synergetics, PT N0—N12, cell ratio factors (ratio between cancer cells- CC and blood cells subpopulations), G1-3, histology, glucose, AT, blood cell circuit, prothrombin index, heparin tolerance, recalcification time (P=0.000-0.038). Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and PT early-invasive LC (rank=1), PT N0—N12 (rank=2), thrombocytes/CC (3), erythrocytes/CC (4), eosinophils/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), segmented neutrophils/CC (8), stick neutrophils/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10); leucocytes/CC (11). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (area under ROC curve=1.0; error=0.0).
CONCLUSIONS: 5YS of LCP after radical procedures significantly depended on: 1) PT early-invasive cancer; 2) PT N0--N12; 3) cell ratio factors; 4) blood cell circuit; 5) biochemical factors; 6) hemostasis system; 7) AT; 8) LC characteristics; 9) LC cell dynamics; 10) surgery type: lobectomy/pneumonectomy; 11) anthropometric data. Optimal diagnosis and treatment strategies for LC are: 1) screening and early detection of LC; 2) availability of experienced thoracic surgeons because of complexity of radical procedures; 3) aggressive en block surgery and adequate lymph node dissection for completeness; 4) precise prediction; 5) adjuvant chemoimmunoradiotherapy for LCP with unfavorable prognosis.

Ethanol (CH3CH2OH), or beverage alcohol, is a two-carbon alcohol
that is rapidly distributed in the body and brain. Ethanol alters many
neurochemical systems and has rewarding and addictive properties. It
is the oldest recreational drug and likely contributes to more morbidity,
mortality, and public health costs than all illicit drugs combined. The
5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
(DSM-5) integrates alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence into a single
disorder called alcohol use disorder (AUD), with mild, moderate,
and severe subclassifications (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
In the DSM-5, all types of substance abuse and dependence have been
combined into a single substance use disorder (SUD) on a continuum
from mild to severe. A diagnosis of AUD requires that at least two of
the 11 DSM-5 behaviors be present within a 12-month period (mild
AUD: 2–3 criteria; moderate AUD: 4–5 criteria; severe AUD: 6–11 criteria).
The four main behavioral effects of AUD are impaired control over
drinking, negative social consequences, risky use, and altered physiological
effects (tolerance, withdrawal). This chapter presents an overview
of the prevalence and harmful consequences of AUD in the U.S.,
the systemic nature of the disease, neurocircuitry and stages of AUD,
comorbidities, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, genetic risk factors, and
pharmacotherapies for AUD.

New Directions in Targeted Therapeutic Approaches for Older Adults With Mantl...i3 Health
i3 Health is pleased to make the speaker slides from this activity available for use as a non-accredited self-study or teaching resource.
This slide deck presented by Dr. Kami Maddocks, Professor-Clinical in the Division of Hematology and
Associate Division Director for Ambulatory Operations
The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, will provide insight into new directions in targeted therapeutic approaches for older adults with mantle cell lymphoma.
STATEMENT OF NEED
Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare, aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) accounting for 5% to 7% of all lymphomas. Its prognosis ranges from indolent disease that does not require treatment for years to very aggressive disease, which is associated with poor survival (Silkenstedt et al, 2021). Typically, MCL is diagnosed at advanced stage and in older patients who cannot tolerate intensive therapy (NCCN, 2022). Although recent advances have slightly increased remission rates, recurrence and relapse remain very common, leading to a median overall survival between 3 and 6 years (LLS, 2021). Though there are several effective options, progress is still needed towards establishing an accepted frontline approach for MCL (Castellino et al, 2022). Treatment selection and management of MCL are complicated by the heterogeneity of prognosis, advanced age and comorbidities of patients, and lack of an established standard approach for treatment, making it vital that clinicians be familiar with the latest research and advances in this area. In this activity chaired by Michael Wang, MD, Professor in the Department of Lymphoma & Myeloma at MD Anderson Cancer Center, expert faculty will discuss prognostic factors informing treatment, the promising results of recent trials in new therapeutic approaches, and the implications of treatment resistance in therapeutic selection for MCL.
Target Audience
Hematology/oncology fellows, attending faculty, and other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).
Learning Objectives
1.) Identify clinical and biological prognostic factors that can guide treatment decision making for older adults with MCL
2.) Evaluate emerging data on targeted therapeutic approaches for treatment-naive and relapsed/refractory MCL and their applicability to older adults
3.) Assess mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies for MCL and their implications for treatment selection

MBBS (Best Graduate, AIMC Lahore)
FCPS Physiology
ICMT, CHPE, DHPE (STMU)
MPH (GC University, Faisalabad)
MBA (Virtual University of Pakistan)
Learning Objectives:
Describe the primary categories of smells and the concept of odor blindness.
Explain the structure and location of the olfactory membrane and mucosa, including the types and roles of cells involved in olfaction.
Describe the pathway and mechanisms of olfactory signal transmission from the olfactory receptors to the brain.
Illustrate the biochemical cascade triggered by odorant binding to olfactory receptors, including the role of G-proteins and second messengers in generating an action potential.
Identify different types of olfactory disorders such as anosmia, hyposmia, hyperosmia, and dysosmia, including their potential causes.
Key Topics:
Olfactory Genes:
3% of the human genome accounts for olfactory genes.
400 genes for odorant receptors.
Olfactory Membrane:
Located in the superior part of the nasal cavity.
Medially: Folds downward along the superior septum.
Laterally: Folds over the superior turbinate and upper surface of the middle turbinate.
Total surface area: 5-10 square centimeters.
Olfactory Mucosa:
Olfactory Cells: Bipolar nerve cells derived from the CNS (100 million), with 4-25 olfactory cilia per cell.
Sustentacular Cells: Produce mucus and maintain ionic and molecular environment.
Basal Cells: Replace worn-out olfactory cells with an average lifespan of 1-2 months.
Bowman’s Gland: Secretes mucus.
Stimulation of Olfactory Cells:
Odorant dissolves in mucus and attaches to receptors on olfactory cilia.
Involves a cascade effect through G-proteins and second messengers, leading to depolarization and action potential generation in the olfactory nerve.
Quality of a Good Odorant:
Small (3-20 Carbon atoms), volatile, water-soluble, and lipid-soluble.
Facilitated by odorant-binding proteins in mucus.
Membrane Potential and Action Potential:
Resting membrane potential: -55mV.

Atrioventricular conduction blocks ( AV blocks ) are classified into 3 types.
This document describes the acute management of AV block.
The prostate is an exocrine gland of the male mammalian reproductive system
It is a walnut-sized gland that forms part of the male reproductive system and is located in front of the rectum and just below the urinary bladder
Function is to store and secrete a clear, slightly alkaline fluid that constitutes 10-30% of the volume of the seminal fluid that along with the spermatozoa, constitutes semen
A healthy human prostate measures (4cm-vertical, by 3cm-horizontal, 2cm ant-post ).
It surrounds the urethra just below the urinary bladder. It has anterior, median, posterior and two lateral lobes
It’s work is regulated by androgens which are responsible for male sex characteristics
Generalised disease of the prostate due to hormonal derangement which leads to non malignant enlargement of the gland (increase in the number of epithelial cells and stromal tissue)to cause compression of the urethra leading to symptoms (LUTS

Flu Vaccine Alert in Bangalore Karnatakaaddon Scans
As flu season approaches, health officials in Bangalore, Karnataka, are urging residents to get their flu vaccinations. The seasonal flu, while common, can lead to severe health complications, particularly for vulnerable populations such as young children, the elderly, and those with underlying health conditions.
Dr. Vidisha Kumari, a leading epidemiologist in Bangalore, emphasizes the importance of getting vaccinated. "The flu vaccine is our best defense against the influenza virus. It not only protects individuals but also helps prevent the spread of the virus in our communities," he says.
This year, the flu season is expected to coincide with a potential increase in other respiratory illnesses. The Karnataka Health Department has launched an awareness campaign highlighting the significance of flu vaccinations. They have set up multiple vaccination centers across Bangalore, making it convenient for residents to receive their shots.
To encourage widespread vaccination, the government is also collaborating with local schools, workplaces, and community centers to facilitate vaccination drives. Special attention is being given to ensuring that the vaccine is accessible to all, including marginalized communities who may have limited access to healthcare.
Residents are reminded that the flu vaccine is safe and effective. Common side effects are mild and may include soreness at the injection site, mild fever, or muscle aches. These side effects are generally short-lived and far less severe than the flu itself.
Healthcare providers are also stressing the importance of continuing COVID-19 precautions. Wearing masks, practicing good hand hygiene, and maintaining social distancing are still crucial, especially in crowded places.
Protect yourself and your loved ones by getting vaccinated. Together, we can help keep Bangalore healthy and safe this flu season. For more information on vaccination centers and schedules, residents can visit the Karnataka Health Department’s official website or follow their social media pages.

The biggest barrier to self care is guilt
1.
2. The biggest
barrier to
self-care is
guilt.
Women, especially, feel incredibly guilty for
tending to their needs.
Guilt is a common feeling for women,
regardless if they work outside the home or
not. As women, we often let guilt control what
we do. We become controlled by what we are
“supposed” to do, instead of embracing the
fact that it’s okay to leave the laundry for
another day so we can go for a run.
3. Self-care needs to be
included in what you
should be doing.
It is not a privilege. It is a necessity. For many
women, every time they choose themselves
over the laundry, the dishes, the kids, work, or
their husbands, they feel guilty. We should not
feel this way.
4. Choosing yourself is not
wrong.
The longer you go without taking time for
yourself, the more resentment will fester, burn
out, exhaustion will set in and you will have
nothing left to give to anyone. Guilt has no
place in the decision to take care of yourself.
7. Give yourself
permission
The first step in eliminating feelings of guilt for investing
in yourself is to give yourself permission. We get so
caught up in all of our other roles and responsibilities
that we lose sight of our own needs and ourselves.
8. Tell Someone
Tell your spouse, a friend or someone at work
that you are feeling burned out and need some
time for yourself, but are finding it difficult to
find a way because of all your responsibilities.
Ask if they would be willing to help keep you
accountable.
9. Make Time
Determine where in your
schedule you can make time for
yourself. Common times that
can be leveraged include early
mornings, lunch breaks, and
evenings. Remove Tv time or
time surfing the web or social
media.
10. Actually do it
Say no to an evening work meeting because
you made plans to go to yoga or get a
pedicure. Whatever you choose to do for you,
the doing it can be the hardest part, especially
if you are usually the one that always says yes.
11. Don’t do it just once
The first time you choose yourself over another
task, those feelings of guilt may creep in. You
might think you made the wrong choice. But you
didn’t. You just need more practice at choosing
you. Saying NO will come easier. Use a calendar
or journal an every week block time out for you, it
might only be once a week but make it count. If
that doesn’t work little mini self care acts in mini
chunks.
12. Practice
Do it again and again and
again until YOU becomes a
habit. Your co-workers and
family will see a difference.
Embrace self-care and you
will see a powerful, positive
impact in every area of your
life. You will be a better
spouse,
employee/professional, family
member and friend!
13. Make sleep part of
your self-care
routine.
Sleep can have a huge effect on how you feel
both emotionally and physically. Not getting
enough can even cause major health issues.
14. Reducing
stress is also
key.
If you have work-related stress, think about
the best ways to calm yourself after a hard
day or relax more while on the job. Block out
the last 15 minutes of the day to brain dump
all that happened that day and the projects
and priorities for the next work day, this clears
your mind of all the stress before leaving.
15. Exercise daily as part of
your self-care routine.
Daily exercise can help you both physically
and mentally, boosting your mood and
reducing stress and anxiety, not to mention
helping lose some body fat! Try starting small
incorporate things such as walking, tennis, or
yoga, which may be able to fit into your
schedule more easily. The most important
thing is to create a routine that works for you.
16. Learning to
say no is
really hard
Most of us feel obligated to say yes when
someone asks for our time or energy. If you’re
already stressed or overworked, saying yes
will lead to burnout, anxiety, and irritability. It
may take a little practice, but once you learn
how to say no, you'll start to feel more
empowered. You don’t need to tell anyone
what is is you’re doing during your self-care
time block, it could be “a meeting” keep it top
secret.
18. Get Serious About Why You Feel Guilty
If your me time is plagued with guilt, you might be connecting your self-worth with your productivity.
The next time you find yourself fretting over, say, the 20 minutes you set aside to just read, grab a pen, some
paper, and ask yourself why.
1. Do you do things you really don’t want to do, or that will over extend you?
2. Do you take care of your needs and desires?
3. Are you running on empty?
4. Are you overwhelmed?
5. Do you say yes to obligations when it is best for you to say no?
6. Do you constantly worry about everyone else, and not yourself?
7. Are you chronically tired and have a lack of energy?
8. Do you crave and eat junk food often, and especially during times of stress?
9. Do you feel like others might deserve your time more than you do?
Write down your thoughts, then read them over, you may be able to see the links between taking time for
yourself and feeling guilty about it more clearly, and seeing your thoughts written out might help you move
past them.
19. Digitally Disconnect
One major pitfall of the digital age is being
connected 24/7 reachability makes it nearly
impossible to take a break. Put your phone on
airplane mode when doing self-care.
20. Questions
If someone questions your
self-care time, try to stand firm.
Your time is your time, and
taking care of yourself means
you can better care for others
in the future.
21. It can be hard for us
all to find extra time.
But it’s extremely important to plan regular
self-care time. Moments alone can help you
think of the best ways to move forward in your
life and keep you grounded.
Whether you decide you want to go for a long
walk, take a hot bath, or enjoy a good movie
with friends, taking self-care time is imperative.
22. Look for small ways
you can incorporate it
into everyday life
For example, you might wake up 15 minutes
earlier to sit with a cup of tea and practice
deep breathing before the chaos of the day
begins, or you might take a walk around the
block on your lunch break. The more you can
work self-care time into your schedule, the
better you’ll be able to grow, enjoy your life,
and thrive.
23. Bottom line:
Self-care isn't selfish but it can feel
that way. Be kind to yourself as you
learn to prioritize ME TIME and
know you'll be better for it.
24. Physical Self-Care
Enjoy a nutritious diet
Drink water
Exercise regularly
Get good sleep
Enjoy a regular massage
Practice yoga or meditate daily
Learn time management and know when to
say no to manage your stress levels
26. Emotional Self-Care
Honor your feelings
Don’t be afraid to share how you’re feeling
with others
Learn to laugh at yourself
Learn to be compassionate with yourself
Practice the activities you enjoy, whether
it’s hiking, golfing, baking, knitting, or
gardening
Set boundaries
