The Lunar New Year Discussion: This group activity brings students together and
share ideas/opinion and their practice during Tet.
Link to textbook: Tieng Anh 6 (New), Unit 6, for any pages
Difficulty level: Medium
Materials needed: None
Time: 15 mins
Procedure:
1. Ask the students what they often enjoy doing Tet. Elicit some ideas from the
class.
2. Tell them that they are going to work in groups to discuss more about Tet.
3. Now form different groups of four and give out the discussion questions (One
copy for each student).
4. The students can be asked to choose one secretary to note down answers from
group members.
5. The teacher goes round the class and participates in students’ discussions. Try to
praise them and add some more ideas to their talks. Don’t forget to take some
notes of the common errors.
6. Feedback: Ask students which question they like best in the discussion and which
answer they found the most amazing.
7. Do dome error correction before ending the activity.

3. What do people hope for during Tet?
4. How much do you like New Year?
5. What customs do you practice every New Year?
6. When and how do you remember your ancestors?
7. What good things are you hoping for this year?

10.Is it better to stay at home with family during New Year or travel?
