Locations
I have used these test shots to show my locations I am thinking about using as they help convey the
scene very well. I have used images of a park and trees as this is where I am considering shooting my
images for my double page spread. This is because I am hoping to convey the model/artist as being
quite youthful and relaxed, as this is the atmosphere I would like to convey in my interview. My model
will also be fairly natural with minimal make-up and casual clothes to signify this atmosphere even
more. I have chosen to use the image in the middle in my test shots as the background in it connotes
the autumnal feel to the outside like it is right now in England. I would like to take the opportunity to
use this season in my images, as the leaves and the wind making the trees blow will make my images fit
into a category; show that I have given my images thought. When I bring my magazine out, as it will be
monthly, my images will then relate to the outside world; it won’t look like it’s a hot summers day.
Choosing my locations like this will intrigue the audience more as they will know that the content inside
my magazine will be new and current. I am also planning on using a plain white or cream wall as my
background drop for my front cover, however I did not take a photo of this as it wouldn’t show up as an
image. Using this location will help my front cover artist to stand out and be the full attention; people
will be able to recognise her easily too.
Props
I have used these images such as make-up, jewellery and a musical instrument in my test shots, as they
are items which I feel would be good to use when I am creating my images. The make-up and jewellery
is of a high fashion and glamourous status that celebrities are likely to wear on a daily basis, but even
more so if they know they are going to be involved in a photo shoot for a magazine. Therefore, this is
the type of make-up and jewellery I am going to use on my model on the photo shoot day. I also
decided to use these in my test shots as the type of products in my image may also be products that can
be used for my advertisement part of my magazine such as ‘must haves’ or ‘new in this season’, as
these are the types of products that my target audience would be interested in consuming. Therefore
using these props on the model would make my audience even more interested into buying them for
themselves ,as they see models as a fashion icon and someone they look up to. I chose to use a clutch
bag and a necklace in my test shots as these are accessories that I feel will help accompany my models
outfit well. They are also very fashionable to the readers eye due to being very girly which relates to the
female-leaning target audience of my magazine. I have used a test shot of my musical instrument as
this will help to convey that my music magazine won’t be mistaken for a fashion one. I am hoping to
have an interview as my double page spread and would like it to be about a artist going from a classical,
to pop genre of music so using my flute in my image, will help portray this. This will most definitely
connote a vibe to the audience that the magazine I am creating is a music one.
Costumes
I have used these images in my test shots as I feel that these would be the kind of outfits
that my models in my music magazine would be likely to wear. In my images, there are
ones of elegant prom dresses, sociable party dresses and a denim jacket. These are all
very modern outfits that would connote the sense of sophistication and modernity in my
models, that I am hoping to convey. The music artists that I am going to include in my
magazine will be very wealthy with quite a high class status, so choosing to convey them
in this way will help me to bring this across. This will help show their importance,
dominance and their style. As these types of outfits can be quite expensive, this will help
to signify their celebrity status, and that they like to be seen as well dressed individuals.
These outfits are one which stand out from the crowd, and will grab the readers in when
they look at my magazine images.
People
These images present in my test shots are included as they include all the possible models

Test Shots

  • 2. Locations I have used these test shots to show my locations I am thinking about using as they help convey the scene very well. I have used images of a park and trees as this is where I am considering shooting my images for my double page spread. This is because I am hoping to convey the model/artist as being quite youthful and relaxed, as this is the atmosphere I would like to convey in my interview. My model will also be fairly natural with minimal make-up and casual clothes to signify this atmosphere even more. I have chosen to use the image in the middle in my test shots as the background in it connotes the autumnal feel to the outside like it is right now in England. I would like to take the opportunity to use this season in my images, as the leaves and the wind making the trees blow will make my images fit into a category; show that I have given my images thought. When I bring my magazine out, as it will be monthly, my images will then relate to the outside world; it won’t look like it’s a hot summers day. Choosing my locations like this will intrigue the audience more as they will know that the content inside my magazine will be new and current. I am also planning on using a plain white or cream wall as my background drop for my front cover, however I did not take a photo of this as it wouldn’t show up as an image. Using this location will help my front cover artist to stand out and be the full attention; people will be able to recognise her easily too.
  • 3. Props I have used these images such as make-up, jewellery and a musical instrument in my test shots, as they are items which I feel would be good to use when I am creating my images. The make-up and jewellery is of a high fashion and glamourous status that celebrities are likely to wear on a daily basis, but even more so if they know they are going to be involved in a photo shoot for a magazine. Therefore, this is the type of make-up and jewellery I am going to use on my model on the photo shoot day. I also decided to use these in my test shots as the type of products in my image may also be products that can be used for my advertisement part of my magazine such as ‘must haves’ or ‘new in this season’, as these are the types of products that my target audience would be interested in consuming. Therefore using these props on the model would make my audience even more interested into buying them for themselves ,as they see models as a fashion icon and someone they look up to. I chose to use a clutch bag and a necklace in my test shots as these are accessories that I feel will help accompany my models outfit well. They are also very fashionable to the readers eye due to being very girly which relates to the female-leaning target audience of my magazine. I have used a test shot of my musical instrument as this will help to convey that my music magazine won’t be mistaken for a fashion one. I am hoping to have an interview as my double page spread and would like it to be about a artist going from a classical, to pop genre of music so using my flute in my image, will help portray this. This will most definitely connote a vibe to the audience that the magazine I am creating is a music one.
  • 4. Costumes I have used these images in my test shots as I feel that these would be the kind of outfits that my models in my music magazine would be likely to wear. In my images, there are ones of elegant prom dresses, sociable party dresses and a denim jacket. These are all very modern outfits that would connote the sense of sophistication and modernity in my models, that I am hoping to convey. The music artists that I am going to include in my magazine will be very wealthy with quite a high class status, so choosing to convey them in this way will help me to bring this across. This will help show their importance, dominance and their style. As these types of outfits can be quite expensive, this will help to signify their celebrity status, and that they like to be seen as well dressed individuals. These outfits are one which stand out from the crowd, and will grab the readers in when they look at my magazine images.
  • 5. People These images present in my test shots are included as they include all the possible models that I am hoping to use as my models/artists/celebrities for my magazine. This gives the audience familiarity as to who they will be and what they look like. They will all be used in different pages of my magazine in order to create a sense of originality by not using the same person all the time in my images. I have chosen all females to be the models in my magazine due to it having a target audience of a mostly female-leaning gender. I will present them as being strong, powerful and influential to the readers, as that is conventional for my genre of music that I am creating my magazine for. All of the people presented in the images are included within the age of my target audience , meaning that the readers of my magazine will be able to relate to them fully, from what they are wearing, to their make-up. They will all be able to convey the new modern music artists or celebrities that I am hoping to capture in my images.
