2. TESLA – Transnational Ecosystem Laboratory and Actions, aims through transnational cooperation, to design and deliver a suite of tools for the successful development of knowledge intensive firms with high potential to export through collaborative analysis and pilot actions, to enhance the partners’ regional innovation ecosystems to support such firms, including SMEs and Micro Enterprises, to secure export markets.
Ken Duggan, Chairman, Ireland China Business Association
Ken has been doing business in China for nearly 10 years, having successfully established an Irish Pub in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, as well as property and other business investments/interests in Yiwu, Guangzhou, Dalian, Anshan, Shanghai, Beijing, Shijiazhang and Qingdao. In late 2009 he set up his own company Chinaportal which is now firmly established as an experienced market leader in doing business in China. He accompanied President Mary McAleese on her visit to Expo 2010 in Shanghai and with the Taoiseach’s trade mission to China in March 2012. Ken has also sourced a diverse and wide range of products in China on behalf of Chinaportal’s Irish and international clients. He is currently working with several Irish companies seeking to export into the Chinese retail market as well as Chinese companies seeking investment opportunities in the western market. He is a consultant to many Chinese investors on the New Immigrant Investment programme established recently by the Department of Justice. He is in his second year as Chairman of the Ireland China Business Association, a voluntary role.
