Stuart Russell, Senior Trade and Investment Manager
Government of Western Australia, European office in London
Born in the UK, Stuart spent some of his formative years in Australia before returning
to the UK and joining the Government’s London office. His primary role is to promote
Western Australia’s profile in UK/Europe with particular emphasis on investment
attraction and business development.
About Western Australia
With Western Australia already considered to be the engine of the Australian
economy, the State accounts for about 45% of Australia’s merchandise exports while the burgeoning
mineral and oil and gas resources sector is helping to drive the development of associated support
industries and businesses across both the manufacturing and services sectors. Major infrastructure
project developments are either underway or planned for development, much of which is directly related
to the mineral resources sector though there is a significant level of construction activity underway and
planned for Perth, the State capital, which is in direct response to the economic growth Western
Australia has enjoyed over recent years.
Western Australia is very receptive to inward investment by companies and businesses establishing in
the State to service the demands of the Australian domestic market. Equally, given our time zone parity
and proximity to South East Asia and the Indian Ocean markets, Western Australia is ideally suited as a
location for businesses looking to use the State to project their profile in these regions.
