2. Benefits And Forms Of The Home Equity Line Of Credit
Many consumers have welcomed the ever increasing trend of an Equity Line of
Credit as one of their primary credit options. An equity line of credit allows you to
use the existing value contained within your property to access additional funds via a
lender. In addition to allowing you the freedom to take control of your financial
future, an Equity Line of Credit creates refinancing possibilities that you may have
never thought possible.
One of the most popular forms of an Equity Line of Credit is a Home Equity Line

Many lenders, due to the competitive nature of the money market, offer low
introductory rates that give the consumer many choices during the beginning of
their loaning period. This allows the consumer to either ease into their payments,
or pay off their initial purchases at a fraction of the cost they would be paying with
an exorbitant credit card. And, unlike a credit card, which can drag you into a
lifetime of debt, an Equity Line of Credit is established only for pre determined
period you get the money when you need it, and when the loan has run its course
and served its purpose it is paid and done. No years of dragged out finance charges,
just concise effective financing. The APR for your line of credit can be either a
fixed rate or variable rate, depending on what you and your lender see fit for your
situation. Variable rates will always be published and immediately available for
reference.
The Benefits of an Equity Line of Credit are usually compared to the benefits of a
Second Mortgage. The Second Mortgage is an available option with different
parameters. A Second Mortgage is a predetermined amount of money available to the
lender that must be paid in fixed increments, at fixed points in time. When compared
with the Equity Line of Credit, it does not allow the personalization characteristics,
but it does provide a little more stability. The Second Mortgage is just a second
option for a consumer who wants to maximize there available financing.

primary research questions posed by the authors, the primary variables under
discussion, and why the authors believed this research is important.
Numerous studies have been conducted on how price promotions have been proven
to be profitable in the long run. The greater the reward, the less effort required to
obtain it, and the sooner it is obtained after the behavior, the more likely the
promotion will be influential (Peter Olson, 2013). The article shows the distinction

Description of the procedure used Provide a clear overview of the methods used in
the research such as interviews, surveys, etc. Also include the number or respondents
and the types of analysis (including statistical analysis) that was involved.
Given the research between hi lo pricing, alternative pricing (SDD) and EDLP,
There are 4 studies that were used to examine the effectiveness of these tactics. In a
theoretical framework, the first study indicates steadily decreasing discounts
generates higher future price expectations, leads to greater anticipated inaction regret
each of which affects purchase likelihood and generates more revenue than hi lo or
EDLP. The second study shows firsthand support that there are no negative
perceptions for employing SDD tactics effectiveness. Thirdly, the study examined the
relativeness of hi lo pricing to SDD tactics which resulted in revenues being higher
when using SDD method. Finally, in the fourth panel approach a scanner panel data
was to uncover several instances of the effectiveness of the SDD. This scanner
allows companies for monitoring a number of stages in a purchase sequence (Peter

4. Why I Am My Writing
While I believed my writing to be concise, yet thorough in the beginning of the
semester, it became clear to me that that was not the case. When entering EN3414,
I had no knowledge of critical theories or how to use secondary sources to enhance
my argument instead of carry it. I believed my heavy sentence phrasing to be an
asset instead of a way to bury my argument beneath long thoughts. In EN3414, I was
able to focus on taking my papers straight to my argument, to avoid useless sources
or let them lead the paperinstead of letting my argument carry the essay. And
because I have learned to revise and rewrite my papers as many times as possible
before they are due, I can no acknowledge the parts of my essay that are too heavy
or that need to be expanded upon. As I finish this course I feel my writingis clear and
concise, stating an idea and following that argument throughout the paper. Before
taking Critical Writing and Research Literary Studies, my writing, while rather
average, was enough to enable success in composition and survey courses;
however, it was not advanced enough for this class. The writings for composition
or survey classes were organized, but lacked a depth or clear argument. While the
topics would be clear and covered, there would be little to no in depth analysis and
more of a skimming above the surface. Even in longer papers, the depth of my
argument was never really deep enough, and while it was enough for the beginning
courses, it clearly became a

In Faranheit 451, Montag is a fireman who does not put out fires, he starts them.
He had never lost faith in his job, but began to lose faith. He contradicts what
society believes or wants by owning multipe books that he has been hiding for
years. He has different views and feelings about such things in society which
makes Montag a foil charcater. A foil character is a character who contrasts another
character. Montag s foil characters are Mildred and Beatty due to Mildred s
interests and Beattys different views. Mildred is the wife of Montag. She has
many different interests than Montag does which makes them foil characters.
There is nothing very spectacular about Mildred. She is very bland and is
obsessed with television. She believs that her family is the television shows.
Montag on the other hand is appreciates books. Mildred says to Montag, See what
you are doing to us? You ll ruin us! (76). This quote shows that Mildred does not
appreciate what Montag wants. She does not respect his interests and does not want
to be married to someone who is doing illegal acts. Montag sees the books as a good

However, at the same time, makes Montag want more knowledge. Beatty says to
Montag, Each man, the image of every other, then all are happy. (58). This quote is
saying all people need to be made equal. This is a contrast between Montag and
Beatty because Montag becomes free and realizes all people should have their own
minds. This a strong point tthat describes the differences between Montag and Beatty.
Beatty and Montag are both very knowledgeable, but all in all, they have different
views that leave one satisfied and the other in

may find confusing because they are possibly not a part of that communityoverall. A
foreigner traveling to America may find the cultureto be puzzling and conflicting with
how people abbreviate their words, and enforce their beliefs unto others. That

7. Realism in the Movie, Training Day Essay
Realism in, art and literature, [is] an attempt to describe human behavior and
surroundings or to represent figures and objects exactly as they act or appear in
life (Realism 1). During the 1840 s through the 1890 s realism was present in much
of the literature from the United Sates and Europe. It has been said that realism is
easily visible in many pieces of modern literature and even in present day films. In
2001, the movie Training Daywas released into theaters. Many critics agreed that the
movie was very realistic. In fact, the main actor Denzel Washingtonwas presented
with an academy award for his performance in Training Day. Training Day can be
considered realistic, but many aspects of the film show little realism.

An interesting quote from Mr. Cranky?s movie rating reads, ?I?ve said to several
gang bangers, ?Hey, I heard you talking and thought you were Ethan Hawke,? and
they?ve responded, ?Yeah, man, I get that a lot (Mr. Cranky 1).?? Not everyone
thought the acting was horrible, because Denzel Washington won an Academy Award
for his performance. Without the movie it would be very difficult to imagine
someone like Ethan Hawke in an environment like the setting of Training Day. This
alone was enough to spoil the realism in the movie.
Others argue that the end of the movie is what drags it from being realistic to
fictional. Chitra Mahesh from The Hindu newspaper writes, ?Which is why it is
unfortunate that such a gritty film with so much realism, would descend to such a
pallid climax (Mahesh 2).? The same writer also says, ?Graphic visuals, a violent
theme, and ambiguous morals make Warner Bros Inc ?Training Day,? out of the
routine. It had the opportunity to be a great film, but the last 20 minutes drag it
down to average depths (Mahesh 1).? The author of this article not only believes that
the end of the movie made it unrealistic but ruined the plot of the whole movie as
well.
Many will agree that Training Day focuses on the negative aspects of life and that is
what makes it unrealistic. Sex, drugs, alcohol, violence, state corruption and rape are
certainly present in
8. Cheyenne Social Structure
The Cheyenne are commonly known as hunters after abandoning agriculture in the
eighteenth century. They are made up of the Northern and Southern groups found
within the high plains at the central portion. They are Algonquian speakers, with the
Southern and Northern Cheyenne having diverse dialect. The Cheyenneare originally
from Minnesota where they left before settling in the High plains.
History and Art The Cheyenne settlement was raided by the white people in the
late 1800s where they experienced several hostilities. This left women and
Children dead adding on to the cholera outbreak. The little big Horn which the
community participated in was bound to create a reservation for the Cheyenne.
The cosmological aspect of the Cheyenne shows that they do not hold a concept for
the existence of the earth (Sutton, 2016). The political structure of the Cheyenne
was governed by bands which were made up of related families and a population of
between 300 400 people. The highest political authority was made up of an all male
band. All those below were the primary chiefs who held less power but were still a
very important aspect of the community s political structure. ... Show more content on

The families all differed in terms of their status. The men in the families were
engaged in hunting and warfare while women did all the domestic chores. The
Dog soldiers formed the military society and played a role in governing the
community s activities. The social organization did not rely on clans. Formal
instruction within the family was meant for girls and adult males. This is basis to
the Cheyenne life cycle. The members of the community would not be named until
they were at the age of five or six. Adultery had been made a rare aspect within the
society as a result of the legalization of polygyny which was
9. Private Prisons Vs Private Prison
The United States of America is the nation with the most people in prison despite
not having the greatest population. As a matter of fact, the U.S. has less than five
percent of the world s population, yet incarcerates about a quarter of its prisoners.
Millions of these prisoners are incarcerated in for profit prisons. Optimally, a prisonis
utilized for prisoners in an attempt to rehab them or remove them from the streets.
However, a private prison is run by a corporation, which has an end goal of
maximizing its profits. The way that these prisons make money is through stipends
from the government that is granted depending on the size of the prison or primarily
on the number of prisoners that the prison house. As a result, private prisons
10. What Is The Purpose Of Lies My Teacher Told Me
History is almost always written by the winners. As a result, the details of pivotal
historical events are often washed as to prevent the dirty, less flattering details to
rise to the surface. It is why we need books such as Lies My Teacher Told Me. by
James W. Loewen to uncover and expose the propogandic style teachings of high
school textbooks. In his book, he has detailed his writings that are intended to elicit a
thought provoking question is our curriculum geared toward immortalizing the great
achievements of our nation while keeping the dark, checkered deeds hidden? That is
the purpose of his dogma, and this analysis we will uncover what exactly happened
that prompted Loewen to release such an argumentative book, as well as weather or
not he is right.
We will begin by analysing why Lowen wrote this book. From what has been detailed
in the introduction, Loewen states that the process of teaching American History has
been whitewashed the achievements of non whites and women have been swept
aside, merely mentioned once every so often. To quote:
...While there is nothing wrong with optimism, it can become something of a burden
for students of color, children of working class parents, girls who notice the dearth of
female historical figures, or members of any group that has not achieved socio
economic success. The optimistic approach prevents any understanding of failure
other than blaming the victim. No wonder children of color are alienated. Even for

11. A Worn Path Analysis
A Worn Path by Eudora Welty, published in the Atlantic Monthly during February
1941, portrays an elderly, southern, African American woman s endurance through a
lengthy journey from her home to Natchez, Mississippi to obtain medicine for her ill
grandson, who has lye poisoning. Throughout the journey, the protagonist, Phoenix
Jackson, confronts several conflicts testing her. The tale describes the encounters of
Phoenix Jackson during her travels using literary devices such as symbolism,
conflict, and allusion to detail Jackson s experiences as she overcomes the physical,
psychological, and social obstacles she faces that ultimately emphasize her character.
The story revolves around the main character, Phoenix Jackson, who was tested by ...

Since her grandson was stripped of his voice, without any way to speak, the lye
poisoning represents the suppression of the African Americans voices at the time. Or,
perhaps, the lye poisoning represents the laws that were placed on the African
American population taking away their basic human rights. The lye poisoning could
also represent the lies told to the African American citizens that eventually burned
them.
In addition to symbolism about her character, the conflicts present in the story allude
a character of extreme determination and perseverance. Among these conflicts are
those of man, Phoenix Jackson, against nature, man, and herself. In regards to man
versus nature, Phoenix quite plainly faces a variety of troubles along her path to the
clinic, including a black dog with a lolling tongue [that] came at her (Welty) causing
her to collapse into a ditch which is a symbolic burial in the dead weeds (Daly).
Secondly, man versus man entails her confrontations with the hunter and the nurse at
the clinic. The hunter helps Jackson out of the ditch, back onto her feet, but then he
... lifted his gun and pointed it at Phoenix, (Welty) yet she was unphased by the
action. Albeit the hunter was disrespectful towards Jackson, the nurse she encounters
upon reaching Natchez is charitable: offering a few pennies out of [her] purse,
(Welty) but ultimately granting her a nickel. Finally, Phoenix faces an internal
struggle with the questioning of her purpose
12. Military Leadership
Within the U.S. military, leadership is generally considered something of a given. It
is a fundamental ingredient of warfare, without which the outcome of a combat
operation cannot be assured. The leader is the brain, the motive power of command,
upon whom subordinates rely for guidance and wisdom, and depend upon for good
judgment. The leader must be determined, unflappable and charismatic; confident in
delegation of authority; able to combine the various strands of command into a
common thread; seasoned, intelligent, and thoughtful.
When judging the qualities of leadership, there is a tendency to think of the gifted, or

Army Staff College, and the Naval War College. Historical examples of military
success and failure featured prominently in their curricula, on the assumption that
trial‐and‐error under combat conditions was a poor method of inculcating
leadership skills. Lessons learned in the classroom were then effected in map and
field exercises. The expectation was, and still is, that non‐combat training would
provide a fund of practical knowledge upon which a commander could use as a point
of departure under battlefield conditions.
For the educational reformers, emulation was key, although they admitted that
talent was also valuable. Raw talent, however, was no substitute for its disciplined
application. Considering the growing complexity and lethality of war, education
was regarded as the surest means of directing talent toward the desired end. Yet the
question of native ability remained; could those without it become effective
leaders? A problem reformers grappled with was the difference between leadership
and command; they are not the same thing, for not all commanders are good
leaders, and not all leaders are good commanders. During the Civil War, Gen.
George McClellan, for example, was a truly inspirational leader who won the total
devotion of his troops, yet consistently failed to achieve decisive victory in battle.
Gen. Ulysses S. Grant, on the other hand, was an excellent commander, to whom few

13. My Unsung Hero
4. Why do you wish to work for this organization?
I ve been able to grow up in a household where public service is loved and
appreciated. My mom serves our community as a public school teacher for 34
years, while my dad served in the United States Air Force in the Philippines. I have
been surrounded by family members in the Army and Navy, school secretaries,
nurses, and teachers: individuals that are constantly serving in the public eye. To
me, these people are all heroes, and known heroes for that matter. What I wish for
is to be that hero, just like my family is to me and all of those they have helped.
When I realized it was my life goal to work in the intelligence field, especially in this
organization I understood that I could not be that public hero, but I could be the
unsung hero. I could be that person that is protecting our nation and serving on the
front lines of safeguarding our national security. And while no one would know, it s
the feeling that you know you are making a difference for our country, and that is
what I have a passion for. Being the unsung hero with my team, my agency, my
country, and constantly facing new and challenging days is what I want, and why I
wish to work for this organization. It s the fact knowing that you are saving lives and
doing work that truly matters. And these will be the days that will push me to my
limits to better myself, my peers, and our nation.
5. Describe your personality and how it makes you a good fit for this organization.
My catch phrase, I ll figure it out always comes to mind. When a question, a
problem, a crisis comes up, I am someone who likes to face a challenge. Even if I
know it s bigger and better than me, I like to find a way to work through all of the
kinks and curve balls the challenge may throw at me. I love bringing my creativity
and animated personality to any place I am, while also motivating and encouraging
those around me to do the same. Passion, consistency, and a resilience comes with
everything I set out to accomplish. I find strength in my communication skills,
understanding the importance of effective written and verbal communications, as
well as being a good listener as well as analytical. I pride myself in my multitasking
14. The Negative Effects Of Poverty
Poverty is the deficiency of necessary money, goods, or means of support. (Pauper
1125 75). When we hear our peers, friends or family speak about poverty it s
generally associated with a person s financial status. However, poverty is much more
than the financial impact. It effects not only financial stability, but has a
psychological, behavioral, and emotional impact. Most people do not know or
understand the alternating effects of poverty. Sociologists, psychologists and others
in the field have debated for many years about whether or not poverty actually has an
effecton an individual s behavior. Though a lengthy debate, studies have proven
poverty can and does have an effect on an individual s physical, social, and
developmental behaviors. (Ramathan, 2016) When children are in their early
stages of learning they are extremely receptive to their environment. The
development of a child s brain is so sensitive that being exposed to poverty in these
early years can negatively affect the structure and function of the young brain.
Children are very perceptive. Unfortunately, regardless of the effort by parents or
guardians, children are effected emotionally as well as physically by poverty.
These children have to understand, cope with and overcome the effects of
poverty. This undue stress can lead to a myriad of effects like low academic
achievement, behavioral and emotional problems like low self esteem, anxiety and
depression (apa.org). I remember growing in school I had a friend that would
travel an extra 20 minutes to get to school. I finally asked her one day why she
made the trip when there were schools that were closer to her home. She explained
that she lived in an area of town known as the projects . She went on to explain that
the schools closer to her home were in a different school district, that wasn t as
good as the school district my school was in. She explained how different the
schools were. Her explanation is a reflection of the early self awareness children in
poverty have. In my schoolmate s case, her reaction to her economic status was to
overcome, but all too often children succumb to the negative effects.
Her statement also addresses another issue children of poverty have to
15. Multitasking Myths
The multitasking myth
Multitasking is when you are doing multiple things simultaneously, for example
writing an essay or watching television while answering a phone call. The term
multitasking is from a computer context. The computer is able to run multiple
applications or taps simultaneously. On the other hand, the human body is not made
for multitasking, but we do it anyway.
We live in a society where multitasking has become a big part of our life. Nowadays,
it is possible to have the television on, while writing an essay on your computer and
checking your phone constantly. The multitasking also seems a lot faster and more
effective than doing just one thing at a time.
Because multitasking has become such a big deal, many scientists have studied the
outcome of multitasking and if it is a powerful or ineffective thing to do.
A research funded by the company Hewlett Packard discovered a shocking fact
about multitasking. Their research showed that when you are distracted by for
example, a phone call or an email your IQ suffers a fall more than twice than found
in marijuana smokers and this threatens the work environment. Because of our new
technology, we use every day, it will be hard to change our multitasking behavior....

17. Summary Of Jude s The Of Jude
JOURNAL OF JUDE
BY: ROSECEL M. RENDON 1. EPISTLE S AUTHORSHIP
Jude was the brother of Jesus and he wrote this epistle after he became a believer in
Jesus Christ. We need to remember as it is written, Jude and James, both brothers of
Jesus, did not believe that He was the Messiah, the son of God. But after His
resurrection everything changed and now he called himself a brother of James and a
servant of Jesus Christ which shows the humility of Jude and the unimportance for
him to be the half brother of Jesus in human terms but most important to believe in
Him as our savior and king. To Jude, the blood of the cross was more important than
the family blood.
2. DATE OF WRITING
The Epistle of Jude is closely related to 2 Peter, and the date of writing depends on
whether Jude borrowed from 2 Peter or 2 Peter borrowed from Jude. It is believed it
was written somewhere between the years 60 to 80 A.D.
3. PURPOSE AND OCCASION OF WRITING: Jude had to deal with the dangers
of false doctrines sneaking in the church. There were godless men, false teachers
who were living sinful lives and misrepresenting the grace of God, they denied the
Lordship of Jesus Christ and began teaching doctrines of self righteousness and a
false freedom they represented. This brought Jude, led by the Holy Spirit, to deal
strongly with these men, false teachers. In his epistle, he perfectly describes the
character, deception, lies, and modus operandi of these men and contrast it with the
character of a true

should receive more scrutiny for its investigation of the frame. She discusses how
images of death and torture are framed by the people who take them and how they are

With this focus on the soldiers who bore the punishment and the blame for policies

These testimonies provide information to understand what exactly happened at the

person was thinking at the time of the photographed incidents. In doing so, Standard
Operating Procedure offers an investigation into an investigation, though not one that
provides a clear sense of guilt or innocence as the soldier s testimonies provide a truth
as they themselves see it. Williams believes that Morris is not interested in what truth
can be revealed through testimony, instead Morris is interested in the way that people

With all the social, political and cultural changes occurring in the 1960s, youth
culture was embracing the ideologies of rebellion and counterculture. The Folk
music of the sixties was giving way to the new Rock revolution and with this came
the iconic Rock Rebel. The Rock Rebel is a romanticized existential figure who
revolts against social conventions in a quest to find value or a sense of freedom
beyond the pre existing conforms of society. (Camus; 1967) Through analysing, in a
sociological context, the way the music industry utilized film to help create or

the signifier of the Rock Rebel has evolved with the developing Rock culture. (Dyer;

when he speaks against the choices of professional trendsetter, stating: You mean

evident in the train scene when a fellow passenger tries to take away their music,

with Laurence Grossberg s notions of consumerism and mobility in relation to
Rebel image. (Grossberg; 1992) While there were several scenes of transport and
mobility shown in HDN, such as the train scene, it lacked the overindulgence of
commercialism that embodies the Grossberg s Rocker; they were the working class

hirae were streaked on blood agar and incubated at 37В°C for 24 h. Blood agar plates
were examined for signs of hemolysis. Blood hemolysis test was performed in
duplicates.
3.16.2. Resistance to low pH
Isolates Enterococcus durans and Enterococcus hirae were tested for their ability to
resist low pH values as follow, 25 ml of sterile MRS broth adjusted to pH 6.4, 4, 3

21. The Famine In Somalia
History always repeats itself now it s Somalia s turn.
The United States should be involved in the famine in Somalia by not only sending,
food, water and money, but also ways to clean and purify their own water.
Famine is something that is not very common. It is a widespread and extreme
scarcity of food. According to the United Nations, more than two people per
10,000 die each day, acute malnutrition rates are above 30 percent, all livestock is
dead and there is less than 2,100 kilocalories of food and 4 liters of water available
per person per day (LeGagnoux,Borgen Project ), confirming that Somalia is in fact
suffering through a famine.

Rare. It s pretty simple, before the United States sends the money to Somalia, they
should use to buy food and water purifiers. Non perishable foods are very easy to
send, if an ordinary person can do the United States government should be able to
too. Social Media star, Jerome Jarre with the help of all his fans was able to send a
whole plane filled with food to Somalia. People are dying in Somalia right now
that need our help. There s an impending famine because of drought, politics,
inaction in NGOs and lack of media attention (Karangu, USA Today). Water
Purifiers are very easy to make and cheap to buy. In fact, designing your own water
filter and purifier from rocks and some paper is a very common project in middle
school. A simple solution is the Lifestraw, The Lifestraw is an inexpensive way to
deliver potable water to those in need, and it is considered an icon of humanitarian

22. The Power of T.S. Eliot s The Waste Land Essay
The Power of T.S. Eliot s The Waste Land
T. S. Eliot, perhaps one of the most controversial poets of modern
times, wrote what many critics consider the most controversial poem of all,
The Waste Land. The Waste Land was written using a fragmented style. This
is a style that is evident in all of Eliot s writings. There are several
reasons for his using this approach, from a feeling of being isolated, to a
problem articulating thoughts (Bergonzi 18, Cuddy 13, Mack 1745, Martin
102).
What influenced Eliot the most in writing poetry was a book he read
written by the English critic, Arthur Symon, titled The Symbolist Movement
in Literature. This book is about French symbolist ... Show more content on

When Eliot began to compose The WasteLand, he used all the
different themes, techniques, and style s he had been developing to this
point. The Waste Land is developed entirely using fragments and quotations.
This is symbolic of his despair in succeeding in ever fully articulating
meaning. Although it is fragmented, it also reveals moments of continuity
and wholeness quantified with recurrent themes of time, alienation,
isolation, and articulation. Because Eliot used fragmentation as his style
when writing this poem, it survived being cut in half by the editing of
Ezra Pound. Many author s argue that Ezra Pound could have edited many
more parts out, without effecting the meaning Eliot was trying to convey
(Bergonzi 11, Mack 1743, Martin 20 22, 110, Ricks 9, Unger 18).
23. T. S. Eliot s use of estrangement in poems is his way of expressing
feelings between himself and the world. His inability to give himself to,
or to possess others is an example of the greater problem of isolation.
The isolation theme is prevalent throughout the Waste Land, with many of
his characters entwined. This is probably related to his problem of
articulating. Whatever his reason for using isolation it caused him to
turn towards god for answers. In 1927 he was accepted as a member of the
Church of England.
24. Class Revisions In The Garden Party By Katherine
Mansfield
Lucia, Alyssa
Mrs. Ritter
IB English 11
September 18, 2017
The Garden Party Revisions
The first thing a reader notices when reading Garden Party by Katherine Mansfield
is the title. A garden party is a social event, which usually implies friends are
invited, there is eating, and exchanging of social niceties, gossip, and other
conversation; this can be called communion. In How to Read Literature Like a
Professor Mr. Foster states whenever people eat and/or drink together it s
communion and not all communions are holy . An act of communion brings
people together and provides a place for fellowship. A garden party is also a
symbol of wealth, which is also, supported the main character, Laura. She can be
quoted in the following situations; Laura s upbringing made her wonder for a
moment whether it was quite respectful of a workman to talk to her of bangs slap in
the eye and It s all the fault...of these absurd class distinctions . Both of these
statements give proof that in the period this story was set, the wealthy were separated
from the poverty stricken through social class. As a result of the class distinctions, she
was frequently barred from interacting with what was thought to be the lower class.
The question Laura asks herself and others is whether it is acceptable to have a
garden party when a man died and left his family in such poor circumstances. She
is seemingly very distraught when she hears the news, frantically wondering how
she can cancel the party in such short time, this demonstrates compassion, she is
still young enough that she hasn t fully adhered to the attitude of the wealthy.
When Laura confronts Jose with her questions, Jose thinks Laura is being too
dramatic and says that no one expects them to cancel the party. Her mother
behaves, in the same manner, saying, You are being very absurd Laura, people like
that don t expect sacrifices from us. Notice she says people like that as if their lack
of money and social standing is something to be frowned upon, that because they are
not in the same social class they are not worth thinking about or are not deserving of
respect or sympathy. Mansfield is using this short story to call attention to the barring
between social classes
25. The Epidemic Of Influenza Vaccine
Each year, there is an estimated 36,000 deaths associated with influenza, about 1,250
from the United States. Influenza (also known as the flu) is a highly contagious
respiratory illness that attacks the upper respiratory tract. In some cases, it can cause
a mild to severe illness, but in other in others it can lead to death. Many try to
eliminate getting the flu at all by getting an influenzavaccine. The influenza vaccine
has produced controversy all over the United States, as some say it is highly
dangerous, while most medical professionals strongly advise it. Although it may be
the greatest chance of not catching influenza, it can come with serious
complications and side effects that can damage or even kill a person. The current
debate on the topic questions whether the vaccine is safe, if it s necessary, and if it
actually works. Influenza usually spreads around the United States every winter,
usually between October and May. It is characterized by a sudden onset of a high
fever, headache, cough, sore throat, muscle or body aches, runny or stuffy nose, and
fatigue. Most people recover within one to two weeks without requiring any medical
treatment. Unlike a cold, the flu comes on more suddenly and usually lasts longer.
Most people can get sick with influenza several times during their lives. Flu viruses
are always changing and mutating. After about two weeks, the flu vaccine itself
causes antibodies to develop in the body. Those antibodies provide protection against
26. Civil Rights Movement 1960s
In this Final Paper I had a choice of four topics to discuss from. I choose the third
choose out of the four which is: (How did the Civil Rights Movement evolve
throughout the 1950s and 1960s? How did the message and role of figures such as
Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X impact the movement as a whole? Besides the
African American movement at this time, what other groups sought recognition? Did
the United Stateslook different by 1968 than it did a decade prior?). These are the
four question I will be discussing about throughout this final paper.
I am going to start off with this first question which is: How did the Civil Rights
Movement evolve throughout the 1950s and 1960s? During this era there were
several different groups that were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I mention in a pier question, that the African American movement was not the
only movements that was happing during the 1950s and 1960s. There were
several groups that were also hoping for equal rights during the 1950s and 1960s.
Some of those groups were children rights, gay rights, and of course women
rights. One of the large movements, other than the African America movement, that
was during this ear was the women s rights movement. In this age and time women
did not have the rights that we women do now. They had to fight and protest for
the rights that have as a luxury today. There were quite a few things women were
not allowed to do or it looked frowned upon when they did do them. Such as
working in a man s work environment and low wages, take birth control pills, and
even owning property. Men and women work in different occupations because of a
combination of forces, including culturally defined choices by workers themselves,
discrimination by employers, and differences in skill levels and qualities. Research
has shown that occupational segregation is an important aspect of gender inequality
in earnings and contributes to other forms of inequality as well (Cohen, Philip N.) .
Women wanted equal opportunities for jobs and equal pay jobs for those jobs. By
the early 1960s, changes began to take place on the national level

Being from a third world country and having to grow up there for a while I have
learned the importance of never giving up and to rather face a challenge head on,
work hard, and essentially be able to overcome that challenge. All my life I have
been faced with challenges ranging from poverty, emotional challenges, and just
wanting to do well for myself and my family. Once my family and I moved to the
United States of America I finally had an opportunity to education so my biggest
goal for myself at the time was to do well in school and eventually work towards a
degree after leaving high school. I managed to accomplish this goal through
elementary school to the present as I was constantly on the honor roll year after year,

important radiography is not only to the hospital and doctors but to the patient.
My time spent through these experiences has opened my eyes to the importance of
radiography as patients lives really depend on the quality, accuracy, and timely
scans that radiographers provide. Since then I have been very interested in
radiography and have decided I want to pursue it, especially since it is such a
versatile field that can branch into other professions that are equally as important
to healthcare. My plans and aspirations for the future include to work as a
radiographer in a hospital and help as many patients as possible and then branching

is a very strong radiography program that will help me and educate me well to
prepare me for my future and career in
28. Whale Talk And Stand By Me Comparison
Comparison Essay
Success is a weird word. Sometimes you spend your whole life trying to find it and
sometimes you re just plain lucky enough to have it already. Success is never given,
it s earned by the ones who deserve it most. But what is it that helps strive people to
the end? Does the end even matter? In life, people are sent on journeys to not only
finish, but to experience every little thing along the path. In other words, life is about
the journey and not the destination. In both Whale Talk and Stand by Me, characters
find meaning for their lives by enduring the hard times, pouring themselves into
relationships with other people and staying true to their own systems of belief.
In both Whale Talk and Stand by Me, young misfits find a group of people that
make them feel safe and at home. In Whale Talk, T.J Jones is an adopted boy, but his
true family members are not the ones who adopted him. T.J finds his family within
the swim team he takes part in. Chris Coughlin, Andy Mott, Jackie Craig, Dan
Hole are many of T.J s newfound family members that allow him to feel safe. In the
book, family isn t about DNA, it s about who and what feels right. They may not be
brother s but they came out from under the same rock, which means if you re
messing with one of em, you re messing with the other. (Crutcher 199) Biological
family never meant a thing to any of the characters in the book. Friends mean family
and no one can do them wrong. In Stand by Me, Gordie Lachance was a
29. Theme Of Manipulation In Kiss The Girls
Manipulation can be explained as the way one may coax a person into doing
something they want. In Kiss the Girls, manipulation is effectively defined at the end
of the film when Casanova has unmasked himself and is talking to Alex Cross. He
says, You use the subjects first name... and your tone... you gotta keep it soft... and
steady (Kiss the Girls). These techniques are used throughout the course of the movie
as almost any character is manipulating another. This effectively defines manipulation
by describing the techniques of the concept.
Two different techniques of manipulation are used in the film Kiss the Girls. One is
a more gentler calm approach that makes the subject feel safe and secure. This
specific way of manipulation is depicted by both Casanova and Alex Cross. In one of
the first scenes of the film, Alex Cross tries to talk a female out of commiting
suicide. He comes in and says, I m a forensic psychologist (Kiss the Girls). This is
said in such a tone that calms the woman but also makes him seem more familiar to
her. It allows him to establish a relationship with the woman, which, leads to him
getting what he wants out of her. Another way that manipulation is used is when
Kate, the only to escape Casanova, persuades Cross to allow her to follow him to
Los Angeles. She takes more of a harsh route and hits a sensitive nerve in his body
by bringing up his niece, one of the many still in captivity. Bringing this fact up
makes him defy his own thoughts and
30. Baba Joon Essay
Baba Joon is the newly released movie by writer/director Yuval Delshad. With a
film career that grew from the documentary world, this is his first feature. Never
one to shy from reality, Delshad turned to a subject that spoke to his heart; the
father/son relationship. To create authenticity, the movie is filmed in the dusty
village where Delshad grew up and the actors speak a blend of Hebrew and Farsi,
just like it was in the 1980 s of his childhood. Delshad loves the fact that life
imitates art, My baby, Yitamar, was conceived during the start of photography and
he is already trying to crawl! Baba Joon centers on the conflict of a traditional
father, Yitzhak, whose life has been hard and demanding, and his gently defiant
son who, as a pre teen, is refusing to learn how to farm turkeys. The mother
understands that their son, Moti, has no passion for the family livelihood but
Yitzhak takes the decision badly. And thus ends the hopes of all good dreams; the
father s desire to pass on his father s business is doomed by his son s utter
disinterest. Here is a kid who has no love of turkeys, no desire to learn the trade and
no appreciation of the art of poultry manufacture. More painful is the perceived lack
of respect that the father senses in Moti s lack of interest. This is the farm that his
father built with sweat labor and was the essential... Show more content on

In the novel The Maze Runner, there are many internal and external conflicts that
occurs throughout it. The main external conflict, would be how Thomas and the

both the short story and the movie flocks of gulls, robins, crows, and sparrows join
each other. This is really weird because different species of birds never work together.

Is Melanie or the lovebirds really evil in the film, or in the story is it just the black

The short story and the film have differences too but none of these differences
really affected the main plot. The short story s setting is placed just south of
London, England right after World War II. The films setting is in Bodega Bay just
a little ways away from San Francisco and takes place in the 1960 s. In the film a
mad woman accused Melanie of bringing evil and causing the attacking of the birds.
In the story birds attacked when the tide came in and in the film the birds attack at
different times, over and over.
The characters are totally different in the two versions. The short story s main
characters are a family; a husband, a wife, and two children. The film s characters are
a woman and a man, and the man s mother and younger sister.
In the film, it shows more of the school and the children then it does in the short
story. The radio is also more involved in the short story then it is in the film.

Teacher quality won t significantly improve until pay is linked directly to

than anything, education reform in Michigan is held back by a lack of urgency, a
state of denial about just how terribly the schools are performing. Parents aren t

39. Fear In Lord Of The Flies Analysis
Ever since humans started making civilization, rules were implemented to help
keep society in order. However, when fear is involved, rules can be broken more
easily. Fear can help people make bad decisions because fear can impact the ability
to make smart quick decisions. Fear can also make people make decisions that they
will not normally make. This is exactly what happened in Lord of the Flies by
William Golding. In the book, a group of British schoolboys crash on a deserted
island in the Pacific Ocean during World War II. On the island, the group of boys try
to establish and preserve order. However fearcompromises this. The littluns, the
group of boys who are about seven, say they see a creature in the forest called the
Beastie. They Beastie impacts everything the boys do on an island, including putting
a pig head on a stick and give it as a gift. Goulding proves that Fear brings out the
worst in people.
In the beginning, the boys try to preserve order after the crash. However, the order
gets compromise when the littluns come forward with some allegations of a
creature. The beastie, the beastie or the snake thing was real remember? The two
boys flinched when they heard the shameful syllable. (Golding 52) Ralph, the leader,
tries to preserve order. However, fear of the beastie starts to make the other boys, like
Jack, the leader of the hunters, turn into savages. They start to disregard the civilized
rules. They are more focused on hunting and finding
40. The Beauty Myth Naomi Wolf Analysis
The Beauty Myth s central argument is the growing standards of physical beauty of
women as they grow stronger. This standard has affected women in many ways, such
as in the workplace, culture, and religion. The standard has taken over the work of
social harassment. The beauty myth expands the belief an unbiased measurement of
beauty exists and that women want to express it and men would want that women.
The author, Naomi Wolf, states that the beauty mythis not about women themselves, it
is about the power of men and their society. The myth supplies power to multibillion
dollar cosmetics industries and it keeps women from rising too high in the workplace.
Within this book, Wolf shows how the beauty myth functions and affects women in
the workplace, media, sex, religion, culture, violence against women by men, and by
women themselves in the configuration of cosmetic surgery and eating disorders.
First, Naomi Wolf uses many techniques and supports her argument using numerous

44. The Cultural Aspects Of Organizational Culture
Organizational Culture The Organizational Culture Theory analyzes the various
cultural aspects of organizations, most notably the five metaphorical performances,
the seven cultural markers, and the notion of culture being something an organization
is versus culture being something an organization has. The five metaphorical
performances are ritual, passion, sociality, politics, and enculturation. Rituals are
certain events that are done at certain times, such as getting coffee at a certain time
every day. Passion is how one describes their mundane work through stories that
indicate how they see it as just the opposite of boring. Sociality describes acts among
workers in the organization that can bring them together, such as joking or... Show

The is refers to how culture is perceived by regular employees, while the has refers to
how management wants the culture to be perceived by others. One study regarding
Organizational Culture is that of Raz (1999). For this study, Raz applied the
Organizational Culture Theory to describe the culture of Tokyo Disneyland (TDL)
and compare it to other amusement parks by conducting interviews with TDL
employees and conducting observations of the parks. For this study, the researcher
aimed to see if such cultural differences had any effects on the success of the parks;
therefore, she compared TDL to its local competitor, Korakuen, and also to the
American Disneylands. The researcher found that the success of TDL was due to its
ability to largely incorporate the Japanese culture and furthermore through its strict
adherence to a highly specific manual providing instructions to the running of the
park. Such a finding is significant in that it provides new insight into globalization
and shows that imperialism is not necessarily the only result, as TDL developed the
unique hybrid cultural position by incorporating both Japanese and American culture.
Raz s (1999) study is then important to Organizational Culture because it addresses
many of the performances and cultural markers. For instance, it addresses the
politics of TDL in describing the differences between full and part time employees.
Raz (1999) noted how full time employees were subject to a seniority
45. Key Events in the Reformation
Thesis Statement: These key events reforming religion are what shaped the world
for good and for bad in the 14th to the 19th century. The Reformation was full of
war and inventions that many had never seen before, affecting the religious and
social political systems in positive and negative ways. The first event in the
Reformation was the Printing Press. The Printing Press enabled the circulation of
the bible, starting the spread of Christianity and the Catholics. The Printing Press
was created by Johannes Gutenberg in 1450. Before the Printing Press the bible had
to be printed by hand, which meant that the copies had to be written word for word.

There were wars during this Reformation in the 16th and 17th century that took
place in many parts of Europe. The first wars took place in central and southern
Europe, between the Christians and the Muslims. The Christians and the Muslims
had been fighting each other ever since the Crusades from the 11th to the 13th
century; also in the Spanish Reconquista from the 8th to the 15th century; and the
Ottoman Wars in Europe from the 15th to 19th century. The wars that were the
longest lasting were the wars between the Protestant and the Catholics. These wars
were some of the bloodiest wars in the European wars of religion. The war between
the Protestants and Catholics is called the 30 Year s War which was the longest in
the war of religions. The Counter Reformation came better late than never as they
were much needed. The Council of Trent had a major role in the counter. The
Council of Trent fought for the Reformers in every way possible. The Council of
Trent believed in the areas of tradition, original sin, justification, sacraments, the
holy masses, and the veneration (honoring) of saints. The Council of Trent and the
Catholics fought to become more spiritual, educated, and literate. The reformation
was a long and bloody time. There are many ways to look at this time period. Some
say it is from the church perspective and say these religions were fighting for what is
right. I for sure will be

47. Louis Auguste Vivet s DID
The first record case of DID documented was of a young Frenchman named Louis
Auguste Vivet. Born in 1863 to a prostitute, Louis grew up neglected and abused.
Around the age of eight he was moved to correctional housing because he was
problematic. At the age of seventeen a horrific accident with a viper left him
paralyzed from the waist down. In the asylum that took care of him, he suffered
violent attacks of convulsion, epilepsy, and cries. Consequently, Louis lost the
ability to walk for a year and a half. During that time, he worked as a tailor and
miraculously regained function of his legs. He happened to pass the asylum that
helped when he was attacked and they were surprised to see him standing. But when

DID falls under the DSM IV TR criteria. This includes dissociative amnesia and
dissociative fugue. The main feature of this disorder is the that the individual
personalities are dissociated, which is why there was a change from multiple
personality disorder to DID. The diagnostic criteria for DID, according to the DSM
IV TR, include the presence of two or more personality states, at least two of these
states taking control of the individual s behavior, and extreme memory loss that is
more than just ordinary forgetfulness. All these symptoms should not manifest
because of physiological effects like substance abuse or general medical condition
(Durand and Barlow, 2016). When a personality dominates an individual s
behavior, it can change the demeanor of the person. Physical changes can be seen
in their posture and facial expression. There may even be physical disabilities that
form, like in the case of Louis Vivet. The range of identities an individual can have
is endless, but most have one alter that is impulsive and sexually driven and typically
another that acts as the protector. A switch is a term used to call the transition from
one identity to another. It is usually instantaneous and can identified by physical
change (Durand and Barlow, 2016). Memory loss also occurs quite frequently
because most of the identities are detached from one another. There have been cases
where only certain

49. Synthetic Phonic Analysis
b.)The results from the QRI and Gates MacGinitie test show that this student suffers
from issues related to decoding, vocabulary and reading comprehension. Developing
intervention plans that are focusing at addressing these weaknesses should
significantly help this student.
To address this students weakness in word decoding the following interventions can
be helpful: Synthetic Phonics (Walker, 2012, p.300) and Sound Partners program
(Kamhi and Catts, 2012, 136). Synthetic phonics focuses on teaching sound
relationships in word in order to instigate word identification. Students are taught to
say the letter sounds in a word and then they blend those sounds together in order to
decode an unfamiliar word. This would help the student in question ... Show more

This involves creating a visual representation of the logical sequence of events in

50. Should Football Be Allowed In High School
High school sports are an important aspect of a young person s life because it could
decide their college, careers, and determine their social circle. High school football
is a time where a fellowship occurs, not only with students, but the community also.
There is on going issues with contact sports such as should there be rule changes or
eliminate the game completely because of head injuries occurring too often. The
problem is deciding whether the risks of playing these sports are worth it in the end.
Are the risks of football worth the entertainment or should should football be banned
for safety reasons? Doctor Anne McKey stated that if anything, we should have rule
changes and equipment changes because it s not worth the risk (CNN, 2012).... Show

In America, football is huge entertainment industry and brings in lots of money
annually. This doesn t mean that football is just there for the money, but it
provides life long impact for some people. Football is used as a brotherhood or a
family, and provides opportunities for kids to learn how to be a teammate. The
head coach for J.H. Rose High School, discussed how he loves his team and wants
nothing but the best for them (CNN, 2012). In addition, it is a matter of autonomy
to be discussed. If a player knows the risks of football, it should be their choice
whether they want to play or not. One of the football players in the video said he
knows the risks and he s willing to take them (CNN, 2012). On the other hand,
some would argue the principle of beneficence and that doctors are merely trying
to save the lives of many young men. In the video, it was discussed that tau
proteins become present in the brain after multiple collisions to the head (CNN,
2012). Tau proteins are known to become present in the brain when an older
person has Alzheimer s or dementia (CNN, 2102). Also, is football worth a life,
two lives? How many young men have to lose their lives to head trauma caused by
football hits, to realize this sport is deadly. Zach Rogers was a teammate and friend
of JaQuan Waller, and said how they thought JaQuan was okay and just got hit pretty

Klebsiella pneumonia ATCC 8724 was cultured aerobically in a 250 mL flask
covered by cotton with 100 mL of seed medium at 37 В°C. After 8 12 h cultivation,
the biomass of seed culture was harvested when cell growth achieved 1.2 to 1.5
OD600 by centrifugation at 4 В°C, 8,000 rpm for 25 min. Then, the cell debris
was mixed with 50 mL sterilized 2.5% (w/v) sodium alginate solution. The
spherical immobilized cells were formed by adding the mixture to 4% CaCl2 (w

Livingston Ethics Lecture: Put it in Writing: Planning is Not an Option
On March 8th, Mr. G. Lee Griffin spoke to the college of business, faculty, students,
and the community at the annual ethics lecture put on by the College of Business. As
always, the ethics lecture was interesting, but Mr. Griffin s personality of honesty,
humility, and sincerity made this lecture stand out among some of the others.
Married for 54 years, it was obvious Mr. Griffin was a family man, led by his faith,
which he said is what gave him the strength to do everything he accomplished
throughout the years.
He began the lecture by reviewing Louisiana s fiscal mess, discussing the 900 million
dollars worth of revenue needed by July 1st, and ... Show more content on

But all of his setbacks led him to Louisiana where he graduated with his master s
degree from LSU, while meeting the love of his life, whom he married a few years
later. After accepting a lower paying job in Louisiana to satisfy his soon to be father
in law, Mr. Griffin worked his way up the ladder until he eventually became the CEO
of what is now Chase bank.
Through business and life, Mr. Griffin learned that there will always be setbacks
and failures, but there is always a way out. He said over and over again that
honesty was the only way to do life and business, and there was no excuse for any
other behavior. He also discussed two types of plans, strategic and operational plans,
that must be in writing and that a company must have to succeed. While telling us a
story about when his bank almost collapsed, he told us that must never drop our
marketing budget.
Overall, Mr. Griffin was a delightful man who seemed truly good to his core. He
spends his time now doing charitable work, spending time with kids who have
dyslexia at a charter school in Baton Rouge. His main point of the night was that
there will always be a door that will open; we just have to look for
