notice is the blocking in this scene; that although we know there are other characters in the restaurant,

For this qualitative study the researchers chose a retailer of prescription eyewear, and prescription
sunglasses positioned in a busy area of Surprise. The main street was closed off due to heavy
construction, however, the parking lot was full. The business was positioned in a small strip mall
between a real estate office, fast food restaurant, and yogurt shop. There were many patrons of various
cultures and ages. They were entering and leaving the surrounding shops including the business
setting we chose for observation. There were a lot more businesses, shops, fast food restaurant in
walking distance allowing us opportunities to observe people interact with each other.
Qualitative research focuses on gaining insight and understanding about an individual s perception of
events (Nieswiadomy, 2012). There are six common qualitative designs: phenomenological,
ethnographic, grounded theory, historical, case study, and action research. Phenomenological studies
are based on human lived experiences and what the experience means to the person being studied. The
researcher has to put aside their own personal ideas or belief systems in order for them to be able to

bird to Thanksgiving in a way that is detrimental to history. Black Friday should be held only on its
original specified date of the Friday after Thanksgiving so that it does not interfere in any way with
the holiday gatherings because it takes employees away from their families and friends diminishing
the value of Thanksgiving as a whole.
This year most stores decided they would open on Thanksgiving. For most, Black Friday makes or
breaks annual earnings (Zillman). Do these high end retailers know that they are actually taking
employees away from their families? The answer is yes, but do they care?
