Goals for the lesson: Developing reported speech
grammar and productions skills.
Objectives for lesson:
By the end of this lesson, students
will be able to:
 To change from indirect speech to direct
speech
 To use correctly grammar, spelling and
punctuation
 To understand the meaning of a reading
message
 To solve exercises using the new
grammatical structure
Methods and Approaches: In the lesson plan
Communicative Language Teaching Approach will be applied.
The students will listen to the explanation of Direct and
Indirect Report of Speech. Teacher and student will have
conversation, explanation, observation, reading, pair work,
example, problematical, situation.
Rationale: The purpose of this lesson is to serve as
Introducing Direct and Indirect Report of Speech. In our daily
life we have to communicate with others, sometimes we have
to report or record incidents. A student is required to use
language in different written and oral forms. Therefore student
should know about the basic difference between the reported
and reporting speech.
Lesson Procedure
Stage 1 : Ice breaking session
Allotted Time : 5 minutes
Action : greetings and creating and a very
friendly classroom environment

Resources : listening (to what teacher says),
speaking (discussion -class)
Stage 2 : To introduce the Reported
Speech statements
Allotted Time : 15 minutes
Action : The teacher explains the students that
indirect speech is usually introduced by a verb in past
tense and that verb in the direct speech have then the
expressions of time and place have to be changed,
pronouns and possessive
adjectives normally change from first or second person
to third person, which are written on the board.
Students note on their notebooks.

Stage 3 : To consolidate reported
speech using different types of exercises
Allotted Time : 10 minutes
Action : Teachers plays the CD, Helen is
looking for a new job. Yesterday she spoke to someone in

Students listen and in pairs complete the sentence with a
verb in the correct form.
