34. What is the Challenge?
The First Minister’s Reading Challenge is a
chance for you to go on a reading journey, read
whatever interests you, discover new books along
the way and tell us all about it.
Where will your journey take you?
35. Your Reading
Passport
• You will all receive your very own Reading
Passport.
• This is for you to record books or any
reading materials you have read.
• You can rate a book by colouring in the
stars. You can also add notes about what
you liked and didn’t like about the book to
help you choose your next one.
• There is room in the Passport for you to
note down recommendations from your
friends.
36. How many books can you read?
• There will be an award for the pupil
who reads the most books
throughout the year
• Your teacher can nominate the
person in your class who they think
has made a real effort with their
reading… It could be you!
• There is also a prize for the school
who manages to read the most!
37. Pupil Reading Journey
• You can enter the Reading Challenge by
sending us a creative piece of work to tell us
about a reading journey you’ve been on.
• You can do this by yourself, with a friend, as part
of a group or even as a whole class!
38. You could create a book trailer about a book which took you on
a journey. Tell us about why you chose it… Check out JANIS
