Skipper has found that these ten tools
help him to cope with the river of life
Building Resilience
Setting a
SMART goal
helps to
motivate us
Building Resilience
Sometimes
we fail or
make
mistakes and
that is okay
Building Resilience
It is important
to celebrate
achievements
Building Resilience
Family Activity
Work together on a goal.
The goal can be
anything you want to
improve. Think about
who or what will help
you. Plan how you will
celebrate achieving your
goal. Bring your ‘goal’ to
share.

  • #24 Introduce ‘Have a Goal’ from the toolkit Having a goal helps to motivate us. However it is not always easy and sometimes it can very challenging. How well we cope with these challenges is based on how resilient we are.
  • #26 We all have different things that we use that can help to make us more resilient…. Some of the things are things that we can do automatically – others are things we need to learn
  • #27 When people go through difficult times, we know there are some things that help them to keep going. We can learn what these are through reflecting on what has happened and by talking about it.
  • #28 Family Task Create a poster of someone who demonstrates resilience. It can be someone you know, a personality from the field of sport, music or media or a character in a book or film. Label your poster with the character traits that has helped them get through difficult times. Class Task Further explanation in the lesson plans for this unit
