Canterbury Tales And Beowulf Essay
The stories of Beowulf and The Canterbury Tales are two that have been compared
for centuries. Based in two different time periods, both novels describe religion,
loyalty, and distinguish social classes through characters. In the novel Beowulf, the
character Beowulf is known as the hero of all heroes, strong, courageous, and a
warrior who is willing to risk his life for his ideals. In The Canterbury Tales, there are
twenty four tales describing characters from a knight to a monk s tale. As the stories
are written in two different time periods with different themes and voices, they can be
compared in many ways. Both novels describe religion through their warriors,
Beowulf and the Knight from The Canterbury Tales. The novel Beowulf was... Show

Three of Chaucer s tales are written with a central Christian theme, the Prioress s
Tale, the Second Nun s Tale, and the Parson s Tale. The Prioress s Tale is said to be
about a miracle of the Virgin Mary, the Second Nun s Tale is a biography of Saint
Cecilia, and the Parson s Tale is considered a sermon. Just as The Canterbury Tales
shows a theme of Christianity, it also shows a theme of religious corruption. In the
tales of the Friar, Prioress, Pardoner, and Monk, corruption of the church is shown
and influences each character in a different way. In the Friar, the focus is on
money, horses, and the responsibility of his monastery. But, the Friar also seduces
women and provide them with a spouse to stay out of trouble. In the tale of
Prioress, Chaucer describes her as too busy being a court lady to take care of her
nunnery. In the Pardoner, he takes advantage of others by taking money for giving
pardons for the sins of others, even going as far as selling relics. The Monk takes
money for forgiveness, refuses to help the poor, and pays other beggars to leave so
he can attain all of the money from that area. He does all of this while he is
supposed to be pledging his life to poverty and those less fortunate. Chaucer shows a
theme of Christianity just as he shows a theme of religious corruption. As
PTSD In Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried
War impacts the soldier in more than the physical sense. It can also change someone
psychologically and can cause PTSD. The Things They Carried is a book about the
Vietnam war and what Tim O Brien went through. The article 4 Kent State Students
Killed By Troops is about a group of College students having a peaceful protest
turned Violent. The Vietnam Veterans Still Have PTSD 40 Years After War article is
about the horrendous things nurses had gone through when they were drafted into the
Vietnam War. The Vietnam soldiers experienced PTSD, the Vietnam Veterans Still
Have PTSD 40 Years After War article explained signs, symptoms, and treatments for
the soldiers with PTSD. War not only affects soldiers physically due to injuries
sustained in combat, but, more so the mental injuries sustained that no one can see.

In the book The Things They Carried, Tim said that it had been over two decades
and every time O Brien remembers it, makes it as if it was currently happening. In
The Things They Carried, O Brien claims, Forty three years old, and the war

experienced when he was at war, still haunts him. The memories are basically
nightmares which transport him back to being in the war. In a different article,

Essay on An Analysis Of John Berger
Pictures Don amp;#8217;t Always Paint a Thousand Words
John Berger makes a bold statement in saying amp;#8220; No other relic or text
from the past can offer such a direct testimony about the world which surrounded
other people at other times. In this respect images are more precise and richer than
literature, ; (Ways of Reading, 106). This statement is very untrue. Literature has
been the focal point of all modern learning.. Literature lets the reader feel what the
author is thinking, not just see it as you would in a painting. This can be proven after
reading Berger amp;#8216;s descriptions of paintings in Ways of Seeing and also
reading parts of literature written by W.E.BDubois.
When a reader reads ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example, that writing explains much more than a picture is Berger
amp;#8217;s On Rembrandt amp;#8217;s amp;#8220;Women in Bed. ; When I
look at this painting I see a young woman looking up at something from her bed. He
writes amp;#8220; there is a complicity between the women and the painter. This
complicity includes both retinence and abandon , day and night. The curtain of the
bed which Hendrickje lifts up her hand , marks the threshold between daytime and
nighttime. ;( 129) From this painting I could not see any of this. The writing paints
this picture in the readers mind, much better than the actual image. This explanation
also enables a reader to relate to the writing. From this writing I can see this girl in
the bed and almost feel what she is thinking. From the picture all I saw was a girl
laying in bed, nothing more.
Again Berger describes Caravaggio amp;#8217;s amp;#8220;The Calling of St.
Matthew ;. In this picture, to the naked eye, all the viewer would see is group of
men in a dimly lit room. But through Berger amp;#8217;s description a reader or
viewer can see much more . Berger amp;#8217;s says this painting depicts
amp;#8220; five men sitting around their usual table , telling stories , gossiping,
boasting of what one day the will do, counting money .Suddenly the door is flung
open . The two figures
EQ vs. IQ
EQ vs. IQ
You are four years old and are seated by yourself at the kitchen table. Your mom
places one piece of your favorite candy in front of you. She explains that you can
eat it right now, but if you wait while she leaves the room to do a quick chore, you
can have two pieces of candy when she returns. She leaves the room. What do you
do? Do you grab the gooey goody the minute she s out the door? Or do you patiently
sit there resisting temptation hoping to double your treat upon her return? Do you
know that your our reaction to this situation may very well determine the degree of
your success in life? A similar study with children was actually conducted by a
psychologist using marshmallows. The study showed that children ... Show more

He states that his goal is to redefine intelligence and success. He believes that EQ is
the equivalent to what we used to call character and contributes more to a person s
success than brainpower, measured by IQ tests. He claims that IQ is not
everything, that high IQ people are not always the most successful, and that it does
not determine one s course in life. Emotional factors could be important. He states
that there are five main abilities involved. A high EQ involves knowing one s
emotions. It involves managing one s emotions. It involves motivating oneself. It
involves recognizing emotions in others, or empathy. It involves the ability to
handle relationships. Hans Eysenck in his book A New Look Intelligence states that
this whole theory is built on quicksand and that there is no sound scientific basis.
Goleman insists that this is no abstract study. He is looking for solutions, which will
restore civility to our streets and caring to our communal life. He sees practical
applications everywhere for how companies should decide whom to hire, how
couples can increase the odds that their marriages will last, how parents should raise
their children and how schools should teach
How Marketers And Media Companies View You
How Marketers and Media Companies View You Shaunna L. Roth University of
Missouri St. Louis September 10, 2016 ABSTRACT Convergence in media is
extremely important. (1) Media convergence is the flow of content across multiple
media platforms. (2) There are three elements for convergence to occur in mass
media; corporations, content and computers. Media companies and marketers target
and segment their audience. Psychographics plays a role in audience segmentation.
In order for the consumer to be reached the media companies must be able (3) to
access, analyze, evaluate and communicate messages in a variety of forms. In today
s society much of what we know comes from what we see and hear in media.
Marketers and media companies target their audience based on how they view them.

Why Math Is Important To Me Essay
Math is one of those subjects that we tend to find the least accessible and the least
applicable to our lives. After all, who is ever going to need to use Fermat s Little
Theorem or the Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic in their everyday life besides a
handful of individuals? The easiest answer to this prompt, then, is to say that math
is going to influence the ways I create and craft budgets in my production
management career. However, that answer is no more interesting that saying that
knowing how to add helps you pay your bills every week. Perhaps the best answer
to this prompt is not in what math can do for me on a practical level, but rather it is
in what math can help illuminate for me. When I started this course, I believed math
to be the essential foundation for our everyday activities (and that is still true). But as
this course ends, I have come to understand math as more than just how to encrypt
information online securely.
Math has the ability to shape how we perceive and understand the complex
machinery of the world. It makes it simpler, certainly, but it also makes us wonder
about how intricate and expansive parts of our lives are. Think about a concept like
infinity an idea I spoke briefly about in my exam, but which I want to come back to
here. I use the word everyday in my life, rarely mathematically, but often as an
abstract notion. After our lesson on infinity, I found myself thinking deeply about
what it means for something to be infinite. Not just in a
Black Boy Reflection
In Richard Wright s autobiography Black Boy, he expresses his life in a string of
dramatic events of his emotional, mental and spiritual struggle. He has to pay a
bigger price compared to the whites so that his family and himself can survive in
the Jim Crow South. He expresses his suffering in a world where most people are
against him. Richard goes through many traumatic events, but through these, he
learns more about how to survive. Richard s cost of living included many instances
of fighting, lose his job, and even loses parts of his dignity. Only at the age of six,
Richard s mother told him to go grocery shopping. On the way to the store, he was
beaten up by a group of gang kids that took his money and ran off, making Richard go

This is the unfortunate cost that Richard had to pay as a black man in the Jim
Crow South. Richard has not been the only person of color to be beaten, under
unreasonable circumstances, and write about it. LeRoy Boyd told a story about
how a black person had said something to a white man that the white man was
displeased from. The white man then proceeded to grab an axe handle and hit the
black person with it: He picked up an axe handle and busted him. The white man
busted him. Hit him right along there (Chafe 121). This is how life was for many
black people in the south facing against the white people. Once Richard left his job at
the clothing store, he quickly got a new job at an optical company because of his
friend Griggs. He worked there to clean the lenses after they were put through the
polishing machines. At this job, Richard received very harsh and violent
harassment by two of his white coworkers, Mr. Pease and Mr. Reynolds. Richard
miscalled Mr. Pease by saying that his name was Pease, Mr. Pease found this
offending and unacceptable for a black boy to call him by his nickname and not
proper name: I heard you call im Pease. And if you say you didn t, you re calling me
a liar, see? He waved the steel bar threateningly (189). After this event, he had to pay
the cost of living by quitting his job. Richard keeping a job was crucial for his family
to have a home and food. For Richard to live and not be killed for misnaming a
white man, he has to sacrifice

Ever since it has been established there has not been a team with 3 losses in the
top 5. Only one time has there been a two loss team to make it to the National
Championship game. An argument against having a playoff would be that teams
would be rewarded for having an easy strength of schedule and not scheduling
difficult out of conference games. There would not be much reason for a non
power conference teams to schedule difficult games out of conference if it means
more to go undefeated. In NCAA Basketball non major conferences teams that don
t schedule may get unlucky when it comes to making NCAA tournament do to a
lack of strength of Schedule. For conferences such as the Southeastern Conference
and Big 12 which the teams are better should get rewarded by having more difficult
games. A one loss team in the Southeastern Conference shows much more than a
one loss Mountain West conference. This would be unfair to the major
conferences. It was because of this reason that the BCS takes in consideration the
Strength of schedule and quality wins. In 2002 Miami was left out of the title
game even though they beat Florida State head to head and yet Florida State made
it. Florida State lost and Miami won its bowl game to take in consideration quality
wins. One may say that a problem with the playoff is that a number one ranked
team can have a bad day and get knocked out of the playoffs which would seem
unfair. The BCS rankings are
Mythological Allegory Of The Matrix
Some of the most obvious examples of mythological allegory in The Matrix are
associated with the characters themselves. Mythological allegory pointing to
Christianity is undeniable in the character and activities of Neo. His given name is
Thomas A. Anderson. Thomas is also the name of Jesus disciple who tended to doubt;
thus the cultural nickname, Doubting Thomas . Neo doubted everyone and
seemingly each situation he encountered; he especially doubted his role as The One.
His surname, Anderson, traced to it rudimentary form, means Son of Man, which was
Jesusfavorite term for himself. Consider also that Neo is an anagram of one, and as
a prefix it means new, recent, or in a modern form. In the text, Neo becomes a new
man, The One. His choice between the red and blue pills is reminiscent of the
choice always available to Adam and Eve, the choice to eat the fruit from the tree
of the knowledge of good and evil. The choice to eat the fruit would be an
irreversible decision, one that would change the course of history. Accessing the
knowledge of good and evil also evokes, what some in Christendom call, the age of
accountability, the age at which one knows the difference between good and evil
and therefore much make a choice serve one or the other. Jesus is said to have
grown in wisdom, stature, and in the favor of both Godand humanity. Neo
experiences a similar messianic growth process. When his physical body is rescued
from the pod, it is atrophied and full of needle

Comparing Dante Alighieri s Inferno And The Faerie
Queene
Both Dante Alighieri s Inferno and Edmund Spenser s The Faerie Queene depict
wooded forests wrought with transformed men as trees. In the Inferno and The Faerie
Queene an existential conundrum of compromised identities leaves Pier della Vigne
and Fraudubio sans human choice. Dehumanized and disfigured, the individuals that
comprise the trees still retain human qualities like talking, breathing, and, even,
bleeding under certain circumstances. Within each space, whether it is considered a
definite locus amoenus or a locus horribilis, the most significant human attribute to
which these trees cling is bleeding and thus they have a small handful of feelings and
emotions still within each of them. Instead of their ripped branches symbolizing
death and decay, the breaking of the branches within Inferno13 and The Faerie
Queene1.2, give the trees life as if nothing has changed. While the bleeding infers a
loss of identity in both, redeemable only for one of the two, it also lets their stories
be told. Their stories, sad in nature, have redemptive qualities and move the two
pilgrims that listen to their doleful tales. The Inferno illustrates the journey of Dante
the pilgrim as he travels through the nine circles of Hell wherein each circle
objectifies a specific sin like lust, gluttony, greed or violence; there the sinners endure
eternal punishment. In the seventh circle, the circle of violence, Dante interacts with
the suicides and profligates. Condemned to live eternally as
Abraham Lincoln Equality
Jessica Laze, Ankie Nazarko
6th Hour
Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln is considered to be one of the most influential presidents of the
United States. He served during a time of turmoil and suffering for the American
people, and throughout this dreadful and gory journey, Lincoln was able to redirect
the path that America had taken, and in the process, altering history. In the first years
of the war, Lincoln believed that that the war was being fought to keep the union
together, and not about freeing the slaves, but that changed. Lincoln, being portrayed
as a man who valued equality, from the beginning believed that slavery was iniquitous
and that the spread of slavery should be prevented , however through the progression
of the war, came to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before his assassination, Lincoln had great plans for the United States and its
period of Reconstruction. Lincoln s ideas were unable to be fulfilled because in
his place came Andrew Johnson, who held opposing views with Lincoln since he
was a Southern Democrat, and was also openly unwilling to support any plans that
granted slaves civil equality. Today, many wonder how history would be different
if Abraham Lincoln was not assassinated, and what he would have included in his
farewell address . In his Gettysburg Address, Lincoln addressed the fact that the war
was not fought for nothing, and that the lives that were lost served for the freedom
and equality of the country. In this speech, he makes the people of America feel
proud to be American, and gives them a reason as to why they are fighting. Later,
when he is once again re elected, in his Second Inaugural Address, Abraham Lincoln
states that the Civil War in a sense brought them together, and together they will
reconstruct the country and live in peace and harmony. Looking at these two
speeches, it can be inferred that if Lincoln had lived, in his farewell address he might
have talked about how far they had come, and restate how unified they were stronger,
and with equality amongst them, the American people had peace, he would also
thank them for their trust and belief in him. As for the
Washington Crossing The Delaware Compare And Contrast
Essay
Emmanuel Leutze s painting Washington Crossing the Delaware shares some
similarities with David Shulman s poem Washington Crossing the Delaware ;
however, the dissimilarities are more abundant. These works of art and literature
portray the scene of that remembered Christmas day when Washington and his army
set out to conquer to Hessian people. Although they have similarities, there are some
differences in these works that are nothing less than noticeable. Join me in observing
the similarities and dissimilarities in these pieces.
There are parallels in Shulman s poem and Leutze s painting and I would like to
point them out. First, how the water is represented in these two works are very much
alike. In the painting, you can see that they are ... Show more content on

The main difference in these two works is the disorder and movement. The painting
by Leutze expresses more of a chaotic scene while the Shulman s poem creates a
slightly more composed environment. Struggle is more evident in the painting. While
the poem is serene and instills confidence and excitement for battle in the reader, the
painting depicts struggling men fighting for a cause we are not quite certain of. Also,
the feeling depicted in the painting is predominantly distraught while the poem
makes me feel the scene is filled with precise determination. Washington commands:
so go alight, crew, and win! (Shulman line 14). This is him telling them to go sneak,
fight, and win the battle. This makes evident some of the varying differences of these
two works. You can see how in the painting Washington is not promoting ideas or
confidence in his crew like he is the poem (Leutze Washington Crossing the Delaware
). This is a leading reason in the difference of disorder. Also, the painting shows ice as
a major obstacle, while in the poem no ice is mentioned. This shows how there is
another element of conflict in the painting than in the written work which can add to
the madness happening. The poem depicts the brave, fearless leader watching the
army he is leading and rather triumphantly commanding them to go into battle and
win (Shulman s Washington Crossing the Delaware). When the poem
Nancy Bell
I read the poem The Yarn of Nancy Bell by W.S. Gilbert. The poem tells a
gruesome yet humorous story about a naval man who ends up losing his sanity
from a cannibalistic experience after a ship accident. The speaker of the poem is a
character who is retelling a story that they have heard from someone else. As for the
story, the characters are the ten surviving crew members of the Nancy Bell ship
which include the man, the cook, the captain, a shipmate, a boatswain, a
midshipman, and the captain s gig crew. The setting took place on the shore from
Deal to Ramsgate in the beginning with the narrator and then in the Indian Sea for
the rest of the story where the characters were stranded. The story is fictional since it

Hillbilly Elegy Analysis
We tend to overstate and to understate, to glorify the good and ignore the bad in
ourselves. (20) J.D. Vance introduces his readers to a world which many didn t
know existed, the world of white working class people, known as hillbillies, living
in Rust Belt towns. Vance gives an inside look by telling stories of his life that are
common circumstances in the hillbilly society. But as he says in the quote above,
humans, no matter their race, background, or hometown, have a tendency to stretch
the truth. Often we avoid putting ourselves or those we love in a bad light, we make
our stories more grand so we can gather peoples interest, or we simply leave things
out because its easier than reliving things that cause us so much heart ache.... Show

His personal experiences bring out truths about the lives of hillbillies. As Vance
writes his book he provides an honest testimony of his life. He writes about difficult
parts of his life that were no doubt hard to relive let alone write. Vance is an honest
analysis of his own life and the lives of hillbillies because he retells painful truths
from his past. He is honest because he writes scenes that not only paint his closest
loved ones as less than appealing at times, but he also paints himself that way. He
includes scenes about his much loved, respected, and revered for grandparents that
shows that they weren t perfect. I d like to tell you my grandparents thrived in their
new environment, how they raised a successful family, and how they retired
comfortably middle class. But that is a partial truth. The full truth is that my
grandparents struggled in their new life, and they continued to do so for decades.
(30) This is not the first or last time that Vance gives an honest assessment of himself
and those around him, telling the painful truths about their shortcomings. He tells
scenes that most people wouldn t want to remember or have other people associate
with their family. He talks about the parts that he admires like the hillbillies fierce
loyalty, and he talks about the things that he wishes he could change, like their
learned helplessness. It is J.D. Vance s honesty about the good and bad parts of his
culture that help

In line eight, the author describes the way Spring opens... her first rose (7 8) as

describing as mysterious; he is also describing the passion he feels about his lover as
something mysterious, something he does not understand. Also, the author describes
the power of [her] fragility as what possesses true control. However, when one thinks
of something that is fragile, one does not picture it as having power, yet this is where
the complexity of the true emotion comes in. The sentiment of love is one of the
most powerful thing known to mankind; it has the power to lead men to war, yet
the slightest crack can cause it to shatter in an instant. Love is the single most
powerful emotion that man can feel and the author s word choice not only
exemplifies it s complexity, but also emphasizes in sensitivity. Love is one of nature
s hardest emotions to comprehend. And at the same time, it is the most powerful and
most sensitive one. By personifying it s complexity and complete control over man,
the author expresses his inexperience with this emotion. By expressing nature s

inexperience with this passion. By using the images of nature he painted in the reader

Community Acquired Pneumonia Essay
According to the Center for Disease Control, pneumonia is considered the leading
cause of death of children less than five years old. However, there is a way to reduce
the chance of contacting this disease. A vaccine called Pneumococcal is available for
people to take (Centers for Disease Control, 2014). There is not only one type of
pneumonia. The type of pneumonia is based upon the way the patient contacted the
pneumonia. The following are the different types of pneumonia: Community
Acquired, Hospital Acquired, Health Care associated, Aspiration, and atypical

Chest xray can be used but only in severe cases. There are risks to exposing
children to radiation. Antibiotics should be the first choice of medicine that is
given to a child with community acquired pneumonia. Amoxicillin is the antibiotic
of choice for those with this infection. If the amoxicillin does not seem to be
helping, the doctor will probably prescribe a different type of antibiotic like
ceftriaxone. Pneumonia may be difficult to treat once acquired but there are
several things a person can do to prevent the infection. Oral care and hygiene are
very important factors to reduce the chance of becoming infected. The patient or
patient s caregiver should be warned about the effects of smoking to the lungs and
the increased risk of developing pneumonia. There are specific risk factors that may

factor for pneumonia, those over 70 years old or under five years old are considered
at risk populations. People who have other chronic or terminal diseases are at risk due
to an immunocompromised immune system. Smoking also increases the chance that
someone will contact an infection (Goss, 2009, p.
Edgar Allan Poe Annabel Lee Comparison
Edgar Allan Poe s poem, Annabel Lee , was about a death of a women who was
well loved by her boyfriend. He s still morns her death for years and still thinks
sweetly of her. However Tiger Army rewrote Poe s poem into a punk song and was
published in 2001. The band kept the depressive mood the narrator felt, they seek
refuge by the ocean to rekindle the memories; also the band changed some of the
heart broken tone into a negative mood, they had a different rhyme scheme.
The song and the poem have several similarities throughout their writing. The narrator
in both pieces still suffers the death of his lost love; as Poe writes for the moon never

Ted Kooser s Poem, Surviving
Omnipresent Death
Ted Kooser s poem, Surviving , can be interpreted in many different ways. At first
the poem seems to be about a man who is watching a bug being attentive to its
surroundings and the bug having the fear of death. Another way to interpret this
poem is that death is unrelenting. Even when the speaker seems to have ceased the
image of death, it finds its way back. This is prevalent because the speaker starts
talking about the fear of death, then altering the tone by describing this bug he
witnesses. The speaker then leaves the reader uncertain at the end of the poem. Ted
Kooser reveals the uncertainty of the bugs near future in the last line of the poem. A
careful analysis of the poem, the poem is truly about a man in his final stages of life
being attentive to death and the beauty of the bug he observes.
The speaker has a fear of death and cannot escape its presence. The author states,
There are days when the fear of death/ is ubiquitous as light (Kooser 1 2). This line
is a simile that compares the fear of death to the presence of light. This line has a
very negative connotation, because the speaker is stressing that the only things
visible are seen as a way to die. This statement does not t reveal if the speaker
himself has this fear of death. This line does indicate that the speaker thinks about
death a lot, but does not think of death everyday. This means the author may think
about death when he alone or sad. The speaker states that the fear of death

Ethics in Mission and Safety Critical Software Engineering
Engineering has a direct and vital impact on the quality of life for all people. 1 It is
by this premise that engineering codes of ethics have been written to outline
professional standards for both managers and engineers. Exhibiting the highest
standards of honesty and integrity are imperative for the protection of public health,
safety, and welfare.2 When ethical principles are compromised, the risk of
endangering others greatly increases, especially with mission and safety critical
systems. Extreme consequences include not only complete mission failures and great
financial loss, but also fatalities. Though most engineering accidents are associated
with aerospace, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though the Code is to be viewed as a body of work and different parts are not meant
to be used in isolation, concentrating on these particular principles shed the most light
on how past software engineering accidents could have been avoided. Principle 3
outlines all the professional practice guidelines for Product. These include:
. Ensuring that, as a software engineer, you are qualified to work on a particular
project
. Ensuring that the appropriate method is used for the project
. Ensuring adequate testing
. Maintaining data integrity
. Treating all maintenance with the same professionalism as new development
. And many others (Click here for all Principle 3 guidelines).4
Principle 5 outlines all the professional practice guidelines for Management. This
applies to all managers and leaders of software engineers. It is important to note the
management/engineer relationship, as success depends on both sides. Though the
ultimate authority over business decisions lies with management, they must still be
willing to listen to any of the engineers concerns during the process, and duly take
this into account. The relationship also works the other direction, in that management
will not know of any problems unless accurately reported by the engineers. Open and
honest communication is key for ethical engineering. The guidelines for management
detailed in Principle 5 include:
Ensuring that software engineers know the standards
Pakistan And The Climate Of Pakistan
Pakistan is located in the temperate area on the planet. The climate of Pakistan is
generally divided by two main seasons of cold winter and hot summer. Pakistan has a
huge variation among extremes of the temperature. A little rainfall also takes place in
Pakistan s different parts of the country. Pakistan has four seasons; winter, summer,
spring and autumn. The winter seasonor cool winter starts from December and ends in
February, the dry spring starts from march through may, the summer or rainy season
starts from June till the end of September. Pakistanalso faces the monsoon period in
the month of October and November. The duration of above mentioned seasons
depends on the locations of regions. Pakistan has many regions, where snow can be
seen in the months of December and January. North of the Azad Kashmir, Gilgit
Baltistan, Northern Punjab, Northern half of Khyber pakhtoon Khwa and some
regions of Baluchistan are usually covered with snow in the winter season. Pakistan
is always hotter in the months of June and July. The weather of Pakistan is getting

Five Principles Of Mahatma Gandhi
Mahatma Gandhi
Gandhi s non violence beliefs, in India and South Africa when he is leading and when
others leaders lead their rebelion, are more effective and reasonable than violent
gestures, through military and militia attacks and wars. Mahatma Gandhi, born
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, leads a movement for independence in India through
his beliefs he acquires from the ancient Indian philosophy he follows, Jainism.
Jainism includes five main principles that Gandhi followed strictly, nonviolence is
one of them. The nonviolent approach that Gandhi puts forward is still put to use by
other leaders such as Barack Obama, Martin Luther King, Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein,
Nelson Mandela. The Indian independence movement of the revolution from Britain
is a turning point in history because of the change it makes without the use of
weapons or with bloodshed.

One of the main fibrinolysis enzymes is plasmin, this is an enzyme that comes
from plasminogen, the conversion of plasminogen to plasmin will incorporate 2
serine proteases. These serine proteases are tPA and uPA. The enzyme tPA, is

Red Tide Research Paper
Red tide or Karenia brevis, is a single celled eukaryotic organism that appears in a
bloom off the west coast of Florida. These dinoflagellates produce a toxin known as
brevetoxins, which at high concentrations can cause severe harm to marine and
human life. Human activity is thought to be bringing about a higher frequency and
concentration of the algaeblooms by nutrient run off and from ships traveling
through the tide. The algae is very fragile so when it is disturbed by crashing
waves or by the hull of boats is causes the brevetoxins to become an aerosol. This is
when it presents a problem to humans because the brevetoxins can cause respiratory
infections. (Kirpatrick et al 2004; Fleming et al 2005).

Thats what a study by (Wu et al 2013) have done with some success. In this study
they tested on the algae s Chattonella marina, Heterosigma akashiwo and
Cochlodinium polykrikoides. Even though these are not the algae s that are
causing havoc off of Florida s coast, it is still a potentially useful treatment that
could be tested on K. brevis in the future. They have found that Thiazolidione(TD)
derivatives have an algicidal effect on the harmful algae bloom. TD is used to treat
type two Diabetes. TD binds to and activates peroxisome proliferator activated
receptors(PPARs), whose activation reduces insulin resistance. The PPARs bound
by TD s activate transcription of several genes related to lipid and glucose
metabolism(Wu et al 2013). One of the TD derivatives TD118 caused the cell
membrane to break and the cytosol to burst forty eight hours after treatment. TD118
also reduced the photosynthetic efficiency of the algae tested. Another method used
to control these harmful algal blooms is to simply throw clay on top of the algal
blooms. With hopes that the inert clay will induce sedimentaion of the harmful algae.
The use of the clay has shown to be efficient in removing K. brevis from the water
column. The main use of this clay is to move the bevetoxin away from the oysters
and clams that filter the water and accumulate the toxin in there system making them
unsafe for humans to
Reflection About Homeless
In today s world, homelessness seems to be everywhere we go. Sometimes, homeless
people even confront us to ask for money or due to their mental state. I believe that
even though this can be scary or uncomfortable, we should still treat them with
respect and kindness. As someone who is very curious about everything and everyone
there is one thing that sticks out the most. That is homelessness. When I see a
homeless person a million questions rush through my head. I think why might they
be homeless, do they have a family, but there is one main question that I think. The
big question that I ask myself is how do people treat them if they are approached for
some reason. I have had a personal experience with having a homeless person
approach my family and me.
My family took a trip to Asheville, North Carolina. While walking around downtown,
I noticed many people who appeared homeless. Some were sleeping, some were
begging, and one even started yelling angrily at my family, although he wasn t
making much sense. He followed us for about a hundred feet, yelling the whole
time. My mom and sister ignored him, but my dad got in his face and yelled at him
to stop. After what seemed like several minutes, but was probably only 30 seconds
or so, one of the shopkeepers ran up to my dad and the homeless man and calmed the
situation down. The shopkeeper explained to us that the homeless man is well known
in the area and that he is harmless. We were also informed that the homeless man is

If we allow the sport to go on without helmets then eventually we will have an NFL
situation on our hands where we are trying to unwind years worth of denial and
neglect while grown women suffer the effects of head injury (Cochran). Many
compare the friendly game of women s lacrosse to the brutal, physical sport of
football, but that should not be the case. This is why women must have more
protection when playing lacrosse. Checking, concussions, and helmets are all major
reasons to supply this gear. Before one can deem women s lacrosse as dangerous,
they must understand the overall concept of the game. The rules of women s

Although it is an illegal action within the sport s rules, violent checking will and

player may gain possession of the ball by dislodging it from an opponent s crosse
with a check. A check is a controlled tap with a crosse on an opponent s crosse in an
attempt to knock the ball free. The player must be one step in front of her
opponent in order to check. No player may reach across an opponent s body to

player may not protect the ball in her crosse by cradling so close to her body or face
so as to make a legal, safe check impossible for the opponent. All legal checks must

There is no pattern to the distribution of organisms over a rocky shore.
Variables:
Factors that affect the distribution of organisms over an area of shoreline are:

В· How resistant an organism in the littoral zone is to dessication.
В· How efficiently an organism can conserve water.
В· The proximity and availability of nutrition.

Also they may not inhabit zones 13, 14 and 15 because there is nothing for them to
feed on there. Limpets were most common in stations 9 12, therefore we can deduce
that the predominate seaweeds here are what they mainly feed on. The species of
seaweeds in these stations were mainly Fucus vesiculosus, Ceramium and
Lithothamnion. My research tells me that juvenile limpets are brought up in the
Lithothamnion, therefore we can presume that this is where they like to graze. Out of
Lithothamnion, Fucus vesiculosus and Ceramium the limpet population follows
Lithothamnion availability the best. Also, the limpets are perhaps the most well
adapted of all the marine snails for a life on the exposed rock surfaces. Each limpet
has its own home an exact spot on the rock where it stays when the tide is out. On
soft rock, the limpet grinds it with its shell to make an exact fit; on hard rock, the
shell is ground down to fit the rock s shape. This tight fit allows the limpet to trap a
spoonful of water inside to stop it drying up. A strong foot muscle gets a firm grip
on the rock, making it difficult for birds to prise off the limpet.

Plane Crash Of A Cessna Citation 550
Introduction This paper examines the plane crash of a Cessna Citation 550 which
impacted into lake Michigan shortly after takeoff. We will examine the flight crew
involved, flight information, crash details, and the accident investigations about the
crash. On further analyzing crashes like this one, we should have a better
understanding on how CRM (crew resource management) and good flight practices
can make flights safer.
History of the Crew There are many factors to take into account when a plane crash
occurs, one of those is the crew and how they performed before the crash occurred.
Crashes can happen to a young pilot as well as a seasoned veteran, so we need to
find out if the history of the captain and the first officer can lead to more conclusions
as to how this crash occurred.
Captain
The captain of the aircraft, as many individuals know, is the person who is
ultimately responsible for the safety of the passengers, crew, as well as the
aircraft. That being said the captain or chief pilot should have a good overall
background to go along with many hours of flight time. The captain, age 59, was
hired by Marlin Air as a line pilot on February 21, 2005. Marlin Air designated him
as the company s chief pilot and then, on August 15, 2005, he was appointed by the
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as Marlin Air s check airman in Cessna
Citation 500/550 airplanes. He held a multi engine airline transport pilot (ATP)

Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics Essay example
In Book 1 of Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethics, he argues that happiness is the best
good, and the goal of an individual and of those leading and governing society. Here,
happiness is understood as both living well and doing well, rather than the convention
sense of happiness as an emotion. According to Aristotle, happiness is achieved
though actions involving reason and in accord with virtue, or the best of the virtues of
there are more than one. In this paper, I will provide a brief overview of the work
and its author, then proceed to provide an overview of the ideas expressed and the
argumentation supporting them, before finally performing an analysis and critique of
the ideas expressed.

In Book 1, he defines the best and most sought after human good as happiness. After
discussing and reinforcing his concept of happiness as the most desired and best
good, and the goal of a human life, the discussion segues into an examination of
virtue and the rest of the work.
Throughout this Book 1, the discussion digresses multiple times to explore the
method by which the topic will be examined. Realising that concepts such as
happiness are subjective, he establishes in the third Chapter that the fruits of the
discussion will be satisfactory so long as it holds true universally. He also
considers in Chapter four whether the discussion should originate from the
principles, or from our experiences, and suggests that we should being from things
known and immediate to us, which seems to be a logical choice as the discussions
as a whole focus on what a man should do in order to act according to virtue in
order to become good and attain happiness. In addition, the sixth Chapter is devoted
to criticism of the theory of Forms. Since good can exist in so many different ways,
but are undoubtedly good, Aristotle argues that there is no common idea governing
it. He also denies the existence of separate Forms that are merely mimicked by what
we perceive, since a thing and the Thing Itself has the same

The Solution for Air Pollution
Society as a whole faces many environmental problems, and as a result,
environmental awareness tends to be a pressing issue. Every day, people recycle
cans, glass bottles, and newspapers. Many people buy bottled water, or own filters
for their tap water, as a health precaution from the pollutants in normal everyday
drinking water. Air pollutionis perhaps the biggest environmental issue the Earth is
facing. Automobiles are responsible for a notable amount of the air pollution
problem. Of course, on the other hand so are factories. If the fight against air

There are many practical, cost effective measures that can be taken to reduce the

will do much to reduce the concentration of fine particles by controlling the
pollutants. These give a hopeful outlook that the air pollution problem can cease to
exist in the severe form that it now does, and with the support of not only
governmental agencies and non profit organizations, but also the help of everyday
citizens, the problem can be overcome in no time.
The air that people breathe everyday is critical to the very existence of not only
civilization, but also the entire Earth; therefore, taking care of it should be a
priority to everyone that inhabits it. A commitment needs to be made by all. It is
not necessary for everyone to be radical protesters against factories and automobile
manufacturers, but if everyone were to get involved, even in the slightest way, such
as carpooling to work, the air that is inhaled by all as a matter of survival would be
increasingly cleaner. The air pollution created by these factories is dangerous to the
environment and to the health of people everywhere. Industrial air pollution is

Juvenile Delinquents
Negative effects of juvenile delinquency and juvenile incarceration, includes mental
health, social relationships, and education of the individual, which impacts on
families, school, and wider community (Lambie Randell, 2013). These factors can
have damaging effects that contribute to recidivism and other unfavourable outcomes.
Development/Learning There is New Zealand evidence which show that juvenile
delinquents are a vulnerable population that are likely to experience long term
maladaptive outcomes, for instance, poor self regulation and self control (Sutherland,
2011). Research shows that having the ability to delay gratification and to regulate
emotions are linked to positive developmental success (Sutherland, 2011). This
includes children s learning and education. Young delinquents are likely to experience
academic failure, have low intelligence, lack student interest, and have behavioural
problems (Macfarlane, 2004, cited in Sutherland, 2011). Lambie and Randell (2013)
explains that incarceration impairs positive psychosocial development and transition
into adulthood.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When opportunities for developing practical skills to contribute to the community
and to navigate prosocial relations have not been provided, young people will face
challenges associated with community re entry, as well as developmental tasks and
first experiences, such as living alone, relationships, and parenthood (Anthony et al.,
2010, cited in Lambie Randell, 2013). Along with these long term impacts, young
delinquents are excluded from the community because they are stigmatised from their
criminal convictions. The experiences of exclusion from education and employment
due to a criminal history heightens the risk of a number of adult risks, such as in
mental health, and homelessness (Lambie Randell,
Money Problems with Building the Railroads
In the late 1800, conflicts arose from farmers, workers, and railroad companies.
These issues were resolved by significant battles among them, but never had an affect
on the railroads. The railroads charged an extraordinary amount of money for
transportation of products. This made farmers extremely outraged, and made them
use their money more wisely than spend it on the transportation of their products. The
railroad companies misused their money given by the government to gain profit of
off land grants. The competition led to workers going on strike for their budgets
being cut. These concepts show that railroads, in their wasteful competition, exploited
farmers and workers because of budget cuts, transportation of products, and
rates.(Introduction, Timeline) Through the wasteful competition of the railroads,
workers began to lose support of their family and make a living. On page 9, in the
text it states, When wages are cut, thousands of Pullman Palace Car Company
workers go on strike in Illinois. In sympathy, other railroad workers stop Pullman cars
from moving. (Timeline) This statement expresses the idea that George Pullman
treated his workers with disrespect. When the great depression occurred, George cut
all workers pay by 25% to make more profit for his company. This shows that he
exploited the workers to make profit. Also, During the railroad competition, George
developed the General Manager Association. This association made him able to fire
whoever he wanted,
Genre Analysis Essay
Genre Analysis
The musical film has always held a special place for me. From my time as a drama
student in high school, my eyes have been opened to the amazing world of the
musical and especially the musical film. The musical film is a film genre in which
the characters sing songs that are integrated into the overall story. Since musicals first
began in theaters, musical films usually contain similar elements. These elements
often simulate that there is a live audience watching. In a sense, the film viewers
become the audience members, at a theater production, as the actor performs directly
to them. Due to the popularity of musicals in the theater, the style was quickly
brought over into film. In 1927, the musical film genre began ... Show more content

The film was nominated for a number of awards, including a GLAAD Media Award
for Best Picture Musical/Comedy. They may seem quite different on the surface;
however, the similarities they do have in common are mainly due to the genre they
share. This is shown by the use of music, production design, and film techniques.
The use of music is a key to determining if a film is in the musical genre. Not only
are songs used to further the story along in a musical, but they also have the ability
to put the audience in the emotional state of the character singing. Song has always
been used as a good conductor for emotional understanding. For example, during
the song You Were Meant for Me in Singin in the Rain, Don Lockwood is able to
confess his love to Kathy Selden in a way that feels magical and shows a
connection between the two would be lovers. Also, the song There Are Worse
Things I Could Do in Grease is able to betray the emotional depth of the character
Rizzo s fear, shame, and anger. At the time this film came out, topics such as teen
pregnancy were not generally presented in films. By having this character sing her
issue, the audiences, who may have dismissed her outright for her actions, are able
to sympathize with her plight. Moreover, in Rent, the song I ll Cover You by Angel
and Collins allow the viewer to get caught up in this young couple s relationship
without having to worry or even consider that this is a gay couple.
Analysis Of The Song Stink ! Stank ! Stunk !
It is almost like this song was meant to correlate with all of the negative aspects of
this school year. The song overall is very amusing, but you find negative aspects
when you single out specific lines. There are three lines in specific that are the
easiest to relate to. They are; I wouldn t touch you with a thirty nine and a half foot
pole , Three words that best describe you are as follows and I quote, Stink! Stank!
Stunk! , and You re a mean one, Mr. Grinch . After interpretation, every student,
including myself, in this entire school has experienced these things.
My first example is I wouldn t touch you with a thirty nine and a half foot pole . The
way I interpreted this song was to refer to the grinch as our school and student

Analysis of Welcome to the New Town Manager by Mary Jane Kuffner Hirt
After reading the case study Welcome to the new town manager, by Mary Jane
Kuffner Hirt, I established three major problems the community of Opportunity
needed to correct. These problems involved the water sewer system, the balancing
budget, the pay as you go method. The city manager, Jennifer Holbrook, must
implement strategies that would correct these problems quickly.
If I were Holbrook my initial goal would be to correct the water and sanitary sewer
systems problem. I believe it is the community responsibility to pay for the up keep
and maintenance of the two facilities, because it is the community who is reaping the
benefits of these facilities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel this proposed revenue fee would make utilities more self sufficient.
My second goal would be to correct the budget balancing problems. The budget
debt each year is approximately 200,00 to 300,000. To solve this problem, I would
make three more adjustments in the budget expenditures. The adjustments would
approximately total 250,000. I chose 250,000 because it is the average of 200,000
300,000. My first adjustment would go towards the capital program expenditure.
Since I previously include the sewer and water system capital program expenditure
into the revenue fee, I could deduct these two services from the capital program
expenditure total. Doing this would reduce the capital program expenditure from
538,630 per year to 379,350 per year, leaving the budget with a 159,280 per year
savings. The second adjustment would go toward public safety. I would
immediately hire a new police officer, because of the police s staff shortage. I think
it is a necessity to have enough officers to maintain all shifts. Hiring more officers
would help keep the streets of Opportunity safe. This is important because of the
community s profile. Opportunity consists of mostly above average socioeconomic
people and elderly people. I could see the crime rate rising in the future, due to the
lack of police officers. On the other hand, I would alleviate the ideal of hiring a
technician. I feel hiring a contractor on needed bases is sufficient. Why
African Americans and The Reconstruction Period
The Reconstruction Period I think is a problem for the African Americans back
then. They were treated unfairly during this period, when it was to being them a
new started and hope of change. Don t get me wrong there were some people who
were for them to e happy, but not many. So, let start at the being; where it all
happened. In January of 1865, Union General William T. Sherman issued a special
field order Number 15, which temporary granted each freed family 40 acres of land
off the region of Georgia in the islands and coastal area. Also the Union Army
donated mules to them after the war was over. In the summer of 1865 when
President Andrew Johnson was in office, his first act of Reconstruction was to
give back all the federal control land back to its previous owner. When the land was
giving back to the owners, freed men and women could sign a labor contracts with
the planters or they could leave the land they occupied this was called Freedman s
Bureau. Soon after when the land was giving back, the former Confederate state
stated Black Codes . Black Codes would deny African Americans to legal have
equality and political rights. Also it would require then to sign yearly labor contracts
with the planters. When this happen, Congress made the Reconstruction Act in the
1867, when the 14th (June 13, 1866) and the 15th (February 26, 1869, ratified on
February 3, 1870) Amendments. These two amendments granted African Americans
the right to vote, and equality before the law and
Friday Analysis
Friday Reflections Summary Essay by Oleksiy Life is complex looking on how
photosynthesis occurs there is so many steps involved. This means to me that life is
not easy. For life to be complex it has to have different parts in doing something.
Life is complex because it has many steps involved in solving everyday life
problems. During class I found out carbon dioxide and water all connect to
photosynthesisto make glucose and oxygen. You need to know how atoms change in
order and what they create. Not only that but you also have to know what happens
when ATP goes to ADP how ATP gets its energy it s complex to know how much you
need to know for photosynthesis to finish. You need to know what gives energy
during photosynthesis which is the sun this showed examples on why life is
complex. The sun gives energy to ATP then ATP uses that energy to finish

This means to me that a group of protists grew overtime and it looked cool in the
microscope. For life to be beautiful it needs to show different kinds of itself it needs
to show different weather such as rain, or sun. Life is beautiful because there is
many things in life that are kind. Ecology of protists populations showed how they
grew overtime which in my opinion was beautiful because many of the protists
reproduce and in a few days there was a lot of them. Another evidence to my claim
that life is beautiful is the times we went to the prairie to look at plants and trees
they looked good. They were different which made them even more beautiful. The
movie we have watched about the sharks shows Life is beautiful because it shows
how kind people can be to help out those sharks. This show how kind people can be
they can save animals life just from being
The Beautiful Painting by Edward Hopper, House by the...
I. Description The painting, House by the Railroad, by Edward Hopper was
completed in 1925. The house he painted was in the style of a Victorian house. The
house was built next to railroad tracks. He painted House by the Railroad with oil
based paint on a canvas. The artwork is a twenty four by twenty nine inches in a
frame. When I look at this painting, the first thing I think of is where is it located?
It looks like it is in the middle of nowhere but then again it looks like it is in a town
because of the railroad tracks. The house is built next to the railroad tracks but
there are no trees. The house contains several windows which I think would be
neat. In this painting, he uses vertical and horizontal lines. He used vertical lines
for the columns of the house and parts of the house. He also uses horizontal lines
for parts of the house and the railroad tracks. Many of the lines Edward Hopper
painted were medium size. The painting is painted with several figures lined up. If
you look at the front of the house, you can tell that it is square on top of another
square. The one on the bottom left is also a square but it is bigger. The picture and
the lines are very soft. The lines in the picture never seem to overlap each other.
The way the sun is in the picture makes it look absolutely beautiful. The sun could
be either rising or setting by the look of the artwork. House by the Railroad was
painted in the United States. Edward Hopper painted this picture after he came back
Junior Research Paper on Wrestling
The History Of Wrestling My first year of wrestling was in high school my junior
year. I wrestled at Forbush High School in the 106/113 pound weight class
throughout this winter sport. Before, I must admit that I did at many different times
think that the sport of wrestling was the most dumb and homosexual sport ever.
One of my friends came up to me a few months after and asked me what I thought
about wrestling. I told him like I said to everyone else, It s the most homosexual
sport ever created. He said, When you re out there wrestling, you don t think about
it. I challenge you to come out this year and wrestle and tell me if you think about
anything being homosexual out there. I accepted his challenge. My first day of...

A new era of wrestling was born called the WWWF (World Wide Wrestling
Federation). The WWWF was founded by Vince McMahon Sr. and Toots Mondt
in the year of 1963 when Capital Wrestling broke away from the NWA. The
WWWF performed in the cities of New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Boston,
Washington D.C., Baltimore, and other smaller towns as well (Strongbow). A
man named Buddy Rogers was selected to be the very first WWWF champion in
1963. He was veteran wrestler at the time and was defeated by Bruno Sammartino
after only holding the title for only a few months. Sammartino held the title until
1971 until he was defeated by Ivan Koloff, who later on defeated Koloff in 1973
(Strongbow). The company was renamed from WWWF to WWF (World Wrestling
Federation) in 1979 ( Online World Of Wrestling ). Vince McMahon Sr. sold the
company to his son Vince McMahon Jr. in 1983 (Cohen). Vince set out to conquer
the wrestling world with his new company. One of Vince s first moves was signing
legend Hulk Hogan who is still considered one of the greatest WWF wrestlers to
this very day. He signed Hulk Hogan as an ambassador for his wrestling brand.
Vince had found out it was costing him a lot of money to be on TV. and needed to
do something big for his company. In 1985 the WWF made their first impact by
Vince getting Mr. T the main event match for the first Wrestlemania event; the WWF
was unstoppable.

  • 4. Canterbury Tales And Beowulf Essay The stories of Beowulf and The Canterbury Tales are two that have been compared for centuries. Based in two different time periods, both novels describe religion, loyalty, and distinguish social classes through characters. In the novel Beowulf, the character Beowulf is known as the hero of all heroes, strong, courageous, and a warrior who is willing to risk his life for his ideals. In The Canterbury Tales, there are twenty four tales describing characters from a knight to a monk s tale. As the stories are written in two different time periods with different themes and voices, they can be compared in many ways. Both novels describe religion through their warriors, Beowulf and the Knight from The Canterbury Tales. The novel Beowulf was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Three of Chaucer s tales are written with a central Christian theme, the Prioress s Tale, the Second Nun s Tale, and the Parson s Tale. The Prioress s Tale is said to be about a miracle of the Virgin Mary, the Second Nun s Tale is a biography of Saint Cecilia, and the Parson s Tale is considered a sermon. Just as The Canterbury Tales shows a theme of Christianity, it also shows a theme of religious corruption. In the tales of the Friar, Prioress, Pardoner, and Monk, corruption of the church is shown and influences each character in a different way. In the Friar, the focus is on money, horses, and the responsibility of his monastery. But, the Friar also seduces women and provide them with a spouse to stay out of trouble. In the tale of Prioress, Chaucer describes her as too busy being a court lady to take care of her nunnery. In the Pardoner, he takes advantage of others by taking money for giving pardons for the sins of others, even going as far as selling relics. The Monk takes money for forgiveness, refuses to help the poor, and pays other beggars to leave so he can attain all of the money from that area. He does all of this while he is supposed to be pledging his life to poverty and those less fortunate. Chaucer shows a theme of Christianity just as he shows a theme of religious corruption. As

  • 7. Essay on An Analysis Of John Berger Pictures Don amp;#8217;t Always Paint a Thousand Words John Berger makes a bold statement in saying amp;#8220; No other relic or text from the past can offer such a direct testimony about the world which surrounded other people at other times. In this respect images are more precise and richer than literature, ; (Ways of Reading, 106). This statement is very untrue. Literature has been the focal point of all modern learning.. Literature lets the reader feel what the author is thinking, not just see it as you would in a painting. This can be proven after reading Berger amp;#8216;s descriptions of paintings in Ways of Seeing and also reading parts of literature written by W.E.BDubois. When a reader reads ... Another example, that writing explains much more than a picture is Berger amp;#8217;s On Rembrandt amp;#8217;s amp;#8220;Women in Bed. ; When I look at this painting I see a young woman looking up at something from her bed. He writes amp;#8220; there is a complicity between the women and the painter. This complicity includes both retinence and abandon , day and night. The curtain of the bed which Hendrickje lifts up her hand , marks the threshold between daytime and nighttime. ;( 129) From this painting I could not see any of this. The writing paints this picture in the readers mind, much better than the actual image. This explanation also enables a reader to relate to the writing. From this writing I can see this girl in the bed and almost feel what she is thinking. From the picture all I saw was a girl laying in bed, nothing more. Again Berger describes Caravaggio amp;#8217;s amp;#8220;The Calling of St. Matthew ;. In this picture, to the naked eye, all the viewer would see is group of men in a dimly lit room. But through Berger amp;#8217;s description a reader or viewer can see much more . Berger amp;#8217;s says this painting depicts amp;#8220; five men sitting around their usual table , telling stories , gossiping, boasting of what one day the will do, counting money .Suddenly the door is flung open . • 8. EQ vs. IQ EQ vs. IQ You are four years old and are seated by yourself at the kitchen table. Your mom places one piece of your favorite candy in front of you. She explains that you can eat it right now, but if you wait while she leaves the room to do a quick chore, you can have two pieces of candy when she returns. She leaves the room. What do you do? Do you grab the gooey goody the minute she s out the door? Or do you patiently sit there resisting temptation hoping to double your treat upon her return? Do you know that your our reaction to this situation may very well determine the degree of your success in life? He states that his goal is to redefine intelligence and success. He believes that EQ is the equivalent to what we used to call character and contributes more to a person s success than brainpower, measured by IQ tests. He claims that IQ is not everything, that high IQ people are not always the most successful, and that it does not determine one s course in life. Emotional factors could be important. He states that there are five main abilities involved. A high EQ involves knowing one s emotions. It involves managing one s emotions. It involves motivating oneself. It involves recognizing emotions in others, or empathy. It involves the ability to handle relationships. Hans Eysenck in his book A New Look Intelligence states that this whole theory is built on quicksand and that there is no sound scientific basis. Goleman insists that this is no abstract study. He is looking for solutions, which will restore civility to our streets and caring to our communal life. He sees practical applications everywhere for how companies should decide whom to hire, how couples can increase the odds that their marriages will last, how parents should raise their children and how schools should teach
  • 9. How Marketers And Media Companies View You How Marketers and Media Companies View You Shaunna L. Roth University of Missouri St. Louis September 10, 2016 ABSTRACT Convergence in media is extremely important. (1) Media convergence is the flow of content across multiple media platforms. (2) There are three elements for convergence to occur in mass media; corporations, content and computers. Media companies and marketers target and segment their audience. Psychographics plays a role in audience segmentation. In order for the consumer to be reached the media companies must be able (3) to access, analyze, evaluate and communicate messages in a variety of forms. In today s society much of what we know comes from what we see and hear in media. Marketers and media companies target their audience based on how they view them. SUMMARY (4) In the US Vals Survey (http://www.strategicbusinessinsights.com/vals /presurvey.shtml) uses a proprietary psychometric method that measures these and other predictive attitudes in conjunction with behaviors and demographics for developing countrywide typologies such as US VALS. Every nation includes people who are more or less impulsive or more or less deliberate, preferring the familiar to the novel; the same is true for other characteristics such as adherence to traditional values, me first, and reliance on self. These attitudes connect to a broad range of behaviors such as brand preferences, the adoption of new products, and leadership qualities. In completing my survey
  • 10. Why Math Is Important To Me Essay Math is one of those subjects that we tend to find the least accessible and the least applicable to our lives. After all, who is ever going to need to use Fermat s Little Theorem or the Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic in their everyday life besides a handful of individuals? The easiest answer to this prompt, then, is to say that math is going to influence the ways I create and craft budgets in my production management career. However, that answer is no more interesting that saying that knowing how to add helps you pay your bills every week. Perhaps the best answer to this prompt is not in what math can do for me on a practical level, but rather it is in what math can help illuminate for me. When I started this course, I believed math to be the essential foundation for our everyday activities (and that is still true). But as this course ends, I have come to understand math as more than just how to encrypt information online securely. Math has the ability to shape how we perceive and understand the complex machinery of the world. It makes it simpler, certainly, but it also makes us wonder about how intricate and expansive parts of our lives are. Think about a concept like infinity an idea I spoke briefly about in my exam, but which I want to come back to here. I use the word everyday in my life, rarely mathematically, but often as an abstract notion. After our lesson on infinity, I found myself thinking deeply about what it means for something to be infinite. Not just in a
  • 11. Black Boy Reflection In Richard Wright s autobiography Black Boy, he expresses his life in a string of dramatic events of his emotional, mental and spiritual struggle. He has to pay a bigger price compared to the whites so that his family and himself can survive in the Jim Crow South. He expresses his suffering in a world where most people are against him. Richard goes through many traumatic events, but through these, he learns more about how to survive. Richard s cost of living included many instances of fighting, lose his job, and even loses parts of his dignity. Only at the age of six, Richard s mother told him to go grocery shopping. This is the unfortunate cost that Richard had to pay as a black man in the Jim Crow South. Richard has not been the only person of color to be beaten, under unreasonable circumstances, and write about it. LeRoy Boyd told a story about how a black person had said something to a white man that the white man was displeased from. The white man then proceeded to grab an axe handle and hit the black person with it: He picked up an axe handle and busted him. The white man busted him. Hit him right along there (Chafe 121). This is how life was for many black people in the south facing against the white people. Once Richard left his job at the clothing store, he quickly got a new job at an optical company because of his friend Griggs. He worked there to clean the lenses after they were put through the polishing machines. At this job, Richard received very harsh and violent harassment by two of his white coworkers, Mr. Pease and Mr. Reynolds. Richard miscalled Mr. Pease by saying that his name was Pease, Mr. Pease found this offending and unacceptable for a black boy to call him by his nickname and not proper name: I heard you call im Pease. And if you say you didn t, you re calling me a liar, see? He waved the steel bar threateningly (189). After this event, he had to pay the cost of living by quitting his job. Richard keeping a job was crucial for his family to have a home and food. For Richard to live and not be killed for misnaming a white man, he has to sacrifice

Ever since it has been established there has not been a team with 3 losses in the top 5. Only one time has there been a two loss team to make it to the National Championship game. An argument against having a playoff would be that teams would be rewarded for having an easy strength of schedule and not scheduling difficult out of conference games. There would not be much reason for a non power conference teams to schedule difficult games out of conference if it means more to go undefeated. In NCAA Basketball non major conferences teams that don t schedule may get unlucky when it comes to making NCAA tournament do to a lack of strength of Schedule. For conferences such as the Southeastern Conference and Big 12 which the teams are better should get rewarded by having more difficult games. A one loss team in the Southeastern Conference shows much more than a one loss Mountain West conference. This would be unfair to the major conferences. It was because of this reason that the BCS takes in consideration the Strength of schedule and quality wins. In 2002 Miami was left out of the title game even though they beat Florida State head to head and yet Florida State made it. Florida State lost and Miami won its bowl game to take in consideration quality wins. One may say that a problem with the playoff is that a number one ranked team can have a bad day and get knocked out of the playoffs which would seem unfair. The BCS rankings are
  • 13. Mythological Allegory Of The Matrix Some of the most obvious examples of mythological allegory in The Matrix are associated with the characters themselves. Mythological allegory pointing to Christianity is undeniable in the character and activities of Neo. His given name is Thomas A. Anderson. Thomas is also the name of Jesus disciple who tended to doubt; thus the cultural nickname, Doubting Thomas . Neo doubted everyone and seemingly each situation he encountered; he especially doubted his role as The One. His surname, Anderson, traced to it rudimentary form, means Son of Man, which was Jesusfavorite term for himself. Consider also that Neo is an anagram of one, and as a prefix it means new, recent, or in a modern form. In the text, Neo becomes a new man, The One. His choice between the red and blue pills is reminiscent of the choice always available to Adam and Eve, the choice to eat the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The choice to eat the fruit would be an irreversible decision, one that would change the course of history. Accessing the knowledge of good and evil also evokes, what some in Christendom call, the age of accountability, the age at which one knows the difference between good and evil and therefore much make a choice serve one or the other. Jesus is said to have grown in wisdom, stature, and in the favor of both Godand humanity. Neo experiences a similar messianic growth process. When his physical body is rescued from the pod, it is atrophied and full of needle

  • 15. Comparing Dante Alighieri s Inferno And The Faerie Queene Both Dante Alighieri s Inferno and Edmund Spenser s The Faerie Queene depict wooded forests wrought with transformed men as trees. In the Inferno and The Faerie Queene an existential conundrum of compromised identities leaves Pier della Vigne and Fraudubio sans human choice. Dehumanized and disfigured, the individuals that comprise the trees still retain human qualities like talking, breathing, and, even, bleeding under certain circumstances. Within each space, whether it is considered a definite locus amoenus or a locus horribilis, the most significant human attribute to which these trees cling is bleeding and thus they have a small handful of feelings and emotions still within each of them. Instead of their ripped branches symbolizing death and decay, the breaking of the branches within Inferno13 and The Faerie Queene1.2, give the trees life as if nothing has changed. While the bleeding infers a loss of identity in both, redeemable only for one of the two, it also lets their stories be told. Their stories, sad in nature, have redemptive qualities and move the two pilgrims that listen to their doleful tales. The Inferno illustrates the journey of Dante the pilgrim as he travels through the nine circles of Hell wherein each circle objectifies a specific sin like lust, gluttony, greed or violence; there the sinners endure eternal punishment. He served during a time of turmoil and suffering for the American people, and throughout this dreadful and gory journey, Lincoln was able to redirect the path that America had taken, and in the process, altering history. In the first years of the war, Lincoln believed that that the war was being fought to keep the union together, and not about freeing the slaves, but that changed. Lincoln, being portrayed as a man who valued equality, from the beginning believed that slavery was iniquitous and that the spread of slavery should be prevented , however through the progression of the war, came to ... Lincoln s ideas were unable to be fulfilled because in his place came Andrew Johnson, who held opposing views with Lincoln since he was a Southern Democrat, and was also openly unwilling to support any plans that granted slaves civil equality. Today, many wonder how history would be different if Abraham Lincoln was not assassinated, and what he would have included in his farewell address . In his Gettysburg Address, Lincoln addressed the fact that the war was not fought for nothing, and that the lives that were lost served for the freedom and equality of the country. In this speech, he makes the people of America feel proud to be American, and gives them a reason as to why they are fighting. Later, when he is once again re elected, in his Second Inaugural Address, Abraham Lincoln states that the Civil War in a sense brought them together, and together they will reconstruct the country and live in peace and harmony. Looking at these two speeches, it can be inferred that if Lincoln had lived, in his farewell address he might have talked about how far they had come, and restate how unified they were stronger, and with equality amongst them, the American people had peace, he would also thank them for their trust and belief in him. As for the

Washington Crossing The Delaware Compare And Contrast Essay Emmanuel Leutze s painting Washington Crossing the Delaware shares some similarities with David Shulman s poem Washington Crossing the Delaware ; however, the dissimilarities are more abundant. These works of art and literature portray the scene of that remembered Christmas day when Washington and his army set out to conquer to Hessian people. Although they have similarities, there are some differences in these works that are nothing less than noticeable. Join me in observing the similarities and dissimilarities in these pieces. The painting by Leutze expresses more of a chaotic scene while the Shulman s poem creates a slightly more composed environment. Struggle is more evident in the painting. While the poem is serene and instills confidence and excitement for battle in the reader, the painting depicts struggling men fighting for a cause we are not quite certain of. Also, the feeling depicted in the painting is predominantly distraught while the poem makes me feel the scene is filled with precise determination. Washington commands: so go alight, crew, and win! (Shulman line 14). This is him telling them to go sneak, fight, and win the battle. This makes evident some of the varying differences of these two works. You can see how in the painting Washington is not promoting ideas or confidence in his crew like he is the poem (Leutze Washington Crossing the Delaware ). This is a leading reason in the difference of disorder. Also, the painting shows ice as a major obstacle, while in the poem no ice is mentioned. This shows how there is another element of conflict in the painting than in the written work which can add to the madness happening. The poem depicts the brave, fearless leader watching the army he is leading and rather triumphantly commanding them to go into battle and win (Shulman s Washington Crossing the Delaware). • 25. Ted Kooser s Poem, Surviving Omnipresent Death Ted Kooser s poem, Surviving , can be interpreted in many different ways. At first the poem seems to be about a man who is watching a bug being attentive to its surroundings and the bug having the fear of death. Another way to interpret this poem is that death is unrelenting. Even when the speaker seems to have ceased the image of death, it finds its way back. This is prevalent because the speaker starts talking about the fear of death, then altering the tone by describing this bug he witnesses. The speaker then leaves the reader uncertain at the end of the poem. Ted Kooser reveals the uncertainty of the bugs near future in the last line of the poem. A careful analysis of the poem, the poem is truly about a man in his final stages of life being attentive to death and the beauty of the bug he observes. The speaker has a fear of death and cannot escape its presence. The author states, There are days when the fear of death/ is ubiquitous as light (Kooser 1 2). This line is a simile that compares the fear of death to the presence of light. This line has a very negative connotation, because the speaker is stressing that the only things visible are seen as a way to die. This statement does not t reveal if the speaker himself has this fear of death. This line does indicate that the speaker thinks about death a lot, but does not think of death everyday. This means the author may think about death when he alone or sad. The speaker states that the fear of death

A check is a controlled tap with a crosse on an opponent s crosse in an attempt to knock the ball free. The player must be one step in front of her opponent in order to check. No player may reach across an opponent s body to check the handle of a crosse when she is even with or behind that opponent. A player may not protect the ball in her crosse by cradling so close to her body or face so as to make a legal, safe check impossible for the opponent. All legal checks must be directed away from a seven inch sphere or bubble around the head of the player (Marquette). Checking from the stick is the number one reason for injury in women s lacrosse and it should not
  • 37. Essay about Rocky Shore Investigation Rocky Shore Investigation Null Hypothesis: There is no pattern to the distribution of organisms over a rocky shore. Variables: Factors that affect the distribution of organisms over an area of shoreline are: В· The depth of water which may cover an organism at high tide. В· How resistant an organism in the littoral zone is to dessication. В· How efficiently an organism can conserve water. В· The proximity and availability of nutrition. Stations ======== I think that stations 1 4 are in the sub littoral zone of the rocky shore. Stations 5 12 are in the mid littoral zone. Stations 13 15 are in the splash zone. I know this through observation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also they may not inhabit zones 13, 14 and 15 because there is nothing for them to feed on there. Limpets were most common in stations 9 12, therefore we can deduce that the predominate seaweeds here are what they mainly feed on. The species of seaweeds in these stations were mainly Fucus vesiculosus, Ceramium and Lithothamnion. My research tells me that juvenile limpets are brought up in the Lithothamnion, therefore we can presume that this is where they like to graze. Out of Lithothamnion, Fucus vesiculosus and Ceramium the limpet population follows Lithothamnion availability the best. Also, the limpets are perhaps the most well adapted of all the marine snails for a life on the exposed rock surfaces. Each limpet has its own home an exact spot on the rock where it stays when the tide is out. On soft rock, the limpet grinds it with its shell to make an exact fit; on hard rock, the shell is ground down to fit the rock s shape. This tight fit allows the limpet to trap a spoonful of water inside to stop it drying up. A strong foot muscle gets a firm grip on the rock, making it difficult for birds to prise off the limpet. The periwinkles (Melarhaphe neritoides) on the shore are much more spaced out and were found in every quadrat bar one. They were also in abundance in the mid

We will examine the flight crew involved, flight information, crash details, and the accident investigations about the crash. On further analyzing crashes like this one, we should have a better understanding on how CRM (crew resource management) and good flight practices can make flights safer. History of the Crew There are many factors to take into account when a plane crash occurs, one of those is the crew and how they performed before the crash occurred. Crashes can happen to a young pilot as well as a seasoned veteran, so we need to find out if the history of the captain and the first officer can lead to more conclusions as to how this crash occurred. Captain The captain of the aircraft, as many individuals know, is the person who is ultimately responsible for the safety of the passengers, crew, as well as the aircraft. That being said the captain or chief pilot should have a good overall background to go along with many hours of flight time. The captain, age 59, was hired by Marlin Air as a line pilot on February 21, 2005. Marlin Air designated him as the company s chief pilot and then, on August 15, 2005, he was appointed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as Marlin Air s check airman in Cessna Citation 500/550 airplanes. He held a multi engine airline transport pilot (ATP) certificate with ratings in the Citation 500, 550,

Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics Essay example In Book 1 of Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethics, he argues that happiness is the best good, and the goal of an individual and of those leading and governing society. Here, happiness is understood as both living well and doing well, rather than the convention sense of happiness as an emotion. According to Aristotle, happiness is achieved though actions involving reason and in accord with virtue, or the best of the virtues of there are more than one. In this paper, I will provide a brief overview of the work and its author, then proceed to provide an overview of the ideas expressed and the argumentation supporting them, before finally performing an analysis and critique of the ideas expressed. After discussing and reinforcing his concept of happiness as the most desired and best good, and the goal of a human life, the discussion segues into an examination of virtue and the rest of the work. Throughout this Book 1, the discussion digresses multiple times to explore the method by which the topic will be examined. Realising that concepts such as happiness are subjective, he establishes in the third Chapter that the fruits of the discussion will be satisfactory so long as it holds true universally. He also considers in Chapter four whether the discussion should originate from the principles, or from our experiences, and suggests that we should being from things known and immediate to us, which seems to be a logical choice as the discussions as a whole focus on what a man should do in order to act according to virtue in order to become good and attain happiness. In addition, the sixth Chapter is devoted to criticism of the theory of Forms. Since good can exist in so many different ways, but are undoubtedly good, Aristotle argues that there is no common idea governing it. He also denies the existence of separate Forms that are merely mimicked by what we perceive, since a thing and the Thing Itself has the same
  • 41. Solution for Air Pollution 2 March, 2008 The Solution for Air Pollution Society as a whole faces many environmental problems, and as a result, environmental awareness tends to be a pressing issue. Every day, people recycle cans, glass bottles, and newspapers. Many people buy bottled water, or own filters for their tap water, as a health precaution from the pollutants in normal everyday drinking water. Air pollutionis perhaps the biggest environmental issue the Earth is facing. Automobiles are responsible for a notable amount of the air pollution problem. Of course, on the other hand so are factories. If the fight against air pollution were to be taken to a higher level, putting pressure on factories that produce air pollution will have a greater effect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many practical, cost effective measures that can be taken to reduce the emissions of air pollutants, including the adoption of energy conservation measures and switching to natural gas. Many existing Clean Air Act programs, such as the acid rain program, and the ground level ozone smog programs, if properly implemented, will do much to reduce the concentration of fine particles by controlling the pollutants. These give a hopeful outlook that the air pollution problem can cease to exist in the severe form that it now does, and with the support of not only governmental agencies and non profit organizations, but also the help of everyday citizens, the problem can be overcome in no time. The air that people breathe everyday is critical to the very existence of not only civilization, but also the entire Earth; therefore, taking care of it should be a priority to everyone that inhabits it. A commitment needs to be made by all. It is not necessary for everyone to be radical protesters against factories and automobile manufacturers, but if everyone were to get involved, even in the slightest way, such as carpooling to work, the air that is inhaled by all as a matter of survival would be increasingly cleaner. The air pollution created by these factories is dangerous to the environment and to the health of people everywhere. Industrial air pollution is

Juvenile Delinquents Negative effects of juvenile delinquency and juvenile incarceration, includes mental health, social relationships, and education of the individual, which impacts on families, school, and wider community (Lambie Randell, 2013). These factors can have damaging effects that contribute to recidivism and other unfavourable outcomes. Development/Learning There is New Zealand evidence which show that juvenile delinquents are a vulnerable population that are likely to experience long term maladaptive outcomes, for instance, poor self regulation and self control (Sutherland, 2011). Research shows that having the ability to delay gratification and to regulate emotions are linked to positive developmental success (Sutherland, 2011). This includes children s learning and education. Young delinquents are likely to experience academic failure, have low intelligence, lack student interest, and have behavioural problems (Macfarlane, 2004, cited in Sutherland, 2011). • 44. Money Problems with Building the Railroads In the late 1800, conflicts arose from farmers, workers, and railroad companies. These issues were resolved by significant battles among them, but never had an affect on the railroads. The railroads charged an extraordinary amount of money for transportation of products. This made farmers extremely outraged, and made them use their money more wisely than spend it on the transportation of their products. The railroad companies misused their money given by the government to gain profit of off land grants. The competition led to workers going on strike for their budgets being cut. These concepts show that railroads, in their wasteful competition, exploited farmers and workers because of budget cuts, transportation of products, and rates.(Introduction, Timeline) Through the wasteful competition of the railroads, workers began to lose support of their family and make a living. On page 9, in the text it states, When wages are cut, thousands of Pullman Palace Car Company workers go on strike in Illinois. In sympathy, other railroad workers stop Pullman cars from moving. (Timeline) This statement expresses the idea that George Pullman treated his workers with disrespect. When the great depression occurred, George cut all workers pay by 25% to make more profit for his company. This shows that he exploited the workers to make profit. Also, During the railroad competition, George developed the General Manager Association. This association made him able to fire whoever he wanted,
  • 45. Genre Analysis Essay Genre Analysis The musical film has always held a special place for me. From my time as a drama student in high school, my eyes have been opened to the amazing world of the musical and especially the musical film. The musical film is a film genre in which the characters sing songs that are integrated into the overall story. Since musicals first began in theaters, musical films usually contain similar elements. These elements often simulate that there is a live audience watching. In a sense, the film viewers become the audience members, at a theater production, as the actor performs directly to them. Due to the popularity of musicals in the theater, the style was quickly brought over into film. In 1927, the musical film genre began ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The film was nominated for a number of awards, including a GLAAD Media Award for Best Picture Musical/Comedy. They may seem quite different on the surface; however, the similarities they do have in common are mainly due to the genre they share. This is shown by the use of music, production design, and film techniques. The use of music is a key to determining if a film is in the musical genre. Not only are songs used to further the story along in a musical, but they also have the ability to put the audience in the emotional state of the character singing. Song has always been used as a good conductor for emotional understanding. For example, during the song You Were Meant for Me in Singin in the Rain, Don Lockwood is able to confess his love to Kathy Selden in a way that feels magical and shows a connection between the two would be lovers. Also, the song There Are Worse Things I Could Do in Grease is able to betray the emotional depth of the character Rizzo s fear, shame, and anger. At the time this film came out, topics such as teen pregnancy were not generally presented in films. By having this character sing her issue, the audiences, who may have dismissed her outright for her actions, are able to sympathize with her plight. Moreover, in Rent, the song I ll Cover You by Angel and Collins allow the viewer to get caught up in this young couple s relationship without having to worry or even consider that this is a gay couple.

Analysis of Welcome to the New Town Manager by Mary Jane Kuffner Hirt After reading the case study Welcome to the new town manager, by Mary Jane Kuffner Hirt, I established three major problems the community of Opportunity needed to correct. These problems involved the water sewer system, the balancing budget, the pay as you go method. The city manager, Jennifer Holbrook, must implement strategies that would correct these problems quickly. If I were Holbrook my initial goal would be to correct the water and sanitary sewer systems problem. I believe it is the community responsibility to pay for the up keep and maintenance of the two facilities, because it is the community who is reaping the benefits of these facilities. ... The budget debt each year is approximately 200,00 to 300,000. To solve this problem, I would make three more adjustments in the budget expenditures. The adjustments would approximately total 250,000. I chose 250,000 because it is the average of 200,000 300,000. My first adjustment would go towards the capital program expenditure. Since I previously include the sewer and water system capital program expenditure into the revenue fee, I could deduct these two services from the capital program expenditure total. Doing this would reduce the capital program expenditure from 538,630 per year to 379,350 per year, leaving the budget with a 159,280 per year savings. The second adjustment would go toward public safety. I would immediately hire a new police officer, because of the police s staff shortage. I think it is a necessity to have enough officers to maintain all shifts. Hiring more officers would help keep the streets of Opportunity safe. This is important because of the community s profile. Opportunity consists of mostly above average socioeconomic people and elderly people. I could see the crime rate rising in the future, due to the lack of police officers. On the other hand, I would alleviate the ideal of hiring a technician. I feel hiring a contractor on needed bases is sufficient. Why
  • 48. African Americans and The Reconstruction Period The Reconstruction Period I think is a problem for the African Americans back then. They were treated unfairly during this period, when it was to being them a new started and hope of change. Don t get me wrong there were some people who were for them to e happy, but not many. So, let start at the being; where it all happened. In January of 1865, Union General William T. Sherman issued a special field order Number 15, which temporary granted each freed family 40 acres of land off the region of Georgia in the islands and coastal area. Also the Union Army donated mules to them after the war was over. In the summer of 1865 when President Andrew Johnson was in office, his first act of Reconstruction was to give back all the federal control land back to its previous owner. When the land was giving back to the owners, freed men and women could sign a labor contracts with the planters or they could leave the land they occupied this was called Freedman s Bureau. Soon after when the land was giving back, the former Confederate state stated Black Codes . Black Codes would deny African Americans to legal have equality and political rights. Also it would require then to sign yearly labor contracts with the planters. When this happen, Congress made the Reconstruction Act in the 1867, when the 14th (June 13, 1866) and the 15th (February 26, 1869, ratified on February 3, 1870) Amendments. These two amendments granted African Americans the right to vote, and equality before the law and

The house he painted was in the style of a Victorian house. The house was built next to railroad tracks. He painted House by the Railroad with oil based paint on a canvas. The artwork is a twenty four by twenty nine inches in a frame. When I look at this painting, the first thing I think of is where is it located? It looks like it is in the middle of nowhere but then again it looks like it is in a town because of the railroad tracks. The house is built next to the railroad tracks but there are no trees. The house contains several windows which I think would be neat. In this painting, he uses vertical and horizontal lines. He used vertical lines for the columns of the house and parts of the house. He also uses horizontal lines for parts of the house and the railroad tracks. Many of the lines Edward Hopper painted were medium size. The painting is painted with several figures lined up. If you look at the front of the house, you can tell that it is square on top of another square. The one on the bottom left is also a square but it is bigger. The picture and the lines are very soft. The lines in the picture never seem to overlap each other. The way the sun is in the picture makes it look absolutely beautiful. The sun could be either rising or setting by the look of the artwork. House by the Railroad was painted in the United States. Edward Hopper painted this picture after he came back
