Ishmael Quotes
I had heard from adults that this was a revolutionary war, a liberation of the people from corrupt
government. But what kind of liberation movement shoots innocent civilians, children, that little girl?
(Beah 14) Comments on Chosen Quote: I don t know why this quote spoke to me, but it did. I find it
ironic how every time these rebellions start, the people end up getting hurt. I m not saying that you
shouldn t rebel, because sometimes it s necessary for us to progress as human beings, but it s just so
paradoxical. People often rebel for better conditions, treatment, etc., but before they get these things
(if they get these things), they suffer through the worst conditions. They face suffering, hunger, death,
and much more before anything ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The death penalty is heavily debated, with some people in favor of it and some against it. I myself am
against it because I feel like if you ve done something to deserve the death penalty, you deserve
something worse than death. I believe they should rot in jail, not just be executed and not suffer at all.
I believe the same for the current situation of the book. However, I have to remember that my country
and his country are different. Sometimes the people have to take these things into their own hands
because authority doesn t do much. Sometimes solving things with violence is their perfect answer,
like how the soldiers did when getting rid of some rebels. While that s not the method I prefer, I
cannot judge because a lot of things were/ are different in Sierra Leone from the United

Tell Tale Heart Literary Analysis
Imagine an elderly man with the eye of a vulture that has the power to vex a man forcing him to
become a murderer. In Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe this unlikely scenario comes to life. A
young man contracts a disease after the elder roommate s eye possesses him. This disease heightens
his senses so he can hear the voices from heaven, hell, and everything in between. Poe creates a
dreadful and abhorrent story through characterization, literary techniques, and an insidious plot.
Poe uses characterization to develop realistic characters readers can relate to. From the start the
narrator does not hide his methodical side well. He stalks the old man for seven consecutive nights,
taking an hour each time to open the door wide enough ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator was insidious before and after the murder. He has a preconceived plan but object there
was none. Passion there was none (Poe 303). The narrator said the old man s eye vexed him but he
could not be vexed if the old man slept with his eyes closed and as a result he could not commit the
murder for seven nights. For these nights he was calm and light hearted. He is laughing during his
stalking mission. The giggling portrayed the narrator as carefree even though he was aware of the
deed he was about to commit. With this knowledge he was patient, as if he had all the time in the
world. The narrator devoted countless hours to stalking the elderly man because he was intrigued in
the murder. On the night of the murder everything changes; he feels surges of adrenaline he mistakes
as power. The narrator is empowered and building confidence. He carries the confidence even when
the policemen arrive. He seems cool, calm, and collected, For what had [the narrator] to fear? (Poe
306). He knows the policemen cannot find evidence because he performed the perfect murder. The
policemen are convinced by his calm manner. Soon after the narrator seems pale and feels a headache.
His powers hear a pounding making the narrator grow angry as the policemen continue talking
merrily. He feels as though they are taunting him and show no respect to the pain he is enduring. The
narrator cannot take any more pain so he confesses the dreadful

Different Perspectives Of Knowledge Production
3. METHODOLOGY
3.1. Introduction
The purpose of this dissertation was to explore the relationship between several variables such as age,
gender, locations and experiences, and the degree of perceived cultural conflicts in the workplace. In
addition, it also aimed to test the relationship between perceived cultural conflicts, support from the
HR department and the willingness to take online cross cultural training.
In order to collect effective data, the researcher carefully made choices in terms of research design,
research methods, and sampling. Next, limitations of the selected research choices were clarified and
discussed by the researcher. Last but most importantly, the researcher kept the ethical principles in
mind when conducting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Theory can be viewed as an explanation of observed regulations (Bryman and Bell, 2011). After that,
the concept of epistemology and ontology needs to be taken into consideration, which influences the
formation of research questions and implementation of research (Bryman and Bell, 2011).
Epistemology is concerned about questions of what is regarded as acceptable knowledge in a
discipline (Bryman and Bell, 2011). Two main ideologies in epistemology are positivism and
interpretivism. The former combines both a deductive approach and inductive strategy; it aims to test
theories (Pugh, 1983). The latter aims to gather and appreciate subjective settings in natural contexts
(Bryman and Bell, 2011). Ontology is relevant to the nature of society and two main ideologies within
ontology are objectivism and constructionism. Objectivism argues that social actors are independent
of social phenomena; however, constructionism argues that the actions of social actors construct the
social phenomena such as organisational culture.
There is a difference between quantitative and qualitative research in terms of relationship with theory,
epistemological and ontological orientations. After taking epistemology (positivism and
interpretivism) and ontology (objectivism and constructionism) into consideration, both quantitative
and qualitative researches were required in this research. Quantitative research was needed to test
relationships

Frank Wall Street Reform And Consumer Protection Act
The Dodd Frank Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act became Federal Law on July
21, 2010, instituting major financial regulatory reforms designed to improve the financial stability of
the United States. It is a legislative response to the financial system trauma resulting from the Great
Recession and a further regulation of the Financial Institution activities that led in part to the Great
Recession. The Act, which was named after two key lawmakers involved in the congressional passing
of the law, Congressman Barney Frank, House of Representatives Financial Services Committee
Chairman, and Senator Chris Todd, former Senate Banking Committee Chairman, affects nearly all
aspects of the oversight and supervision of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The relative successes and failures of that Act are becoming more apparent with time, and the
shortcomings are subject to intense partisan criticism. As discussed below, Dodd Frank seeks to
address the highly sensitive and controversial notion that Wall Street banks have been designated by
the Federal Reserve as too big to fail. In fact, during the most severe moments of the crisis, the voices
of free market proponents could be heard advocating that these troubled big banks, suffering massive
losses due to their own bad bets, and if weakened to the point of failure, should be allowed to fail.
Hindsight shows that allowing just one to fail, Lehman Brothers, had serious and lasting detrimental
effect on the US and global financial system and markets. Had Lehman been saved, it would have
been the most effective agent to unwind all of the transactions and trades to which it was a party, and
likely in a rapid manner. However, being thrust into bankruptcy, and thereafter receivers were
appointed to unwind the business, took months upon months and vast resources to settle Lehman
accounts. Had Citibank, Bank of America, Bear Stearns, or AIG been allowed to fail, it may have been
possible that the US financial system would have melted down completely. So these super banks, and
non banks, cannot be allowed to fail in crisis, due to the system wide risk. Notwithstanding, such an
implicit assurance, that they will always get a bailout, no matter how toxic

Analysis Of Sir Luke Fildes The Doctor
Sir Luke Fildes, a renowned painter of the late Victorian age, completed an oil painting titled The
Doctor, in 18871. It captures in a glimpse the socio historical milieu which shaped the identity of the
General Practitioner in Victorian England since the 1840s. The painting shows a doctor attending the
sickbed of a poor child. Though a candle is burning still, a natural light also comes in, suggesting that
it is now dawn, and the child has survived the night. The doctor s figure represents a calm and
soothing heroism at the face of death. He has spent, it seems, a sleepless night, nursing the sick child.
The painting not only depicts a positive and humanitarian image of the Victorian General Practitioner,
but also conforms to the close

change in macbeth character
Macbeth s character shows us the tragedy of over ambitious people; it also shows us that negative
aspects can overwhelm the good side of our personality.
Throughout this piece of writing I will be showing the changes within Macbeths character, which is
the only character within the play that has visible changes in his character. I will be describing these
points by inspecting the asides and soliloquies, which are both dramatic ironies that place the audience
in a privileged position as they are introduced to the characters thought pattern that gives them an
insight to how he may be feeling. All of which is unbeknown to other characters in the scene.
In Act I, Sc iii, when Macbeth is told that he is the Thane of Cawdor, he is ... Show more content on

and this explains how double faced and furtive devious he becomes.
Act IV, Sc I shows how Macbeth believes only in the witches, he trusts them and makes all his plans
and arrangement according to their prophecies. This doesn t only show us a mental change but also
how Macbeth lost his morality, honesty, and nobility and became more frenzied, no more mercy to be
thought of or shown and decides, The firstlings of my heart shall be
The firstling of my hand.
Comparing this to the first soliloquy in my piece of writing we perceive a tremendous development of
his personality and attitude. He is not hesitant about killing any more and will do any thing to keep his
throne and power.
Following his meeting with the witches they tell him to be ware Macduff and macbeth acts upon this
warning by sending murderers to kill His wife, his babes, and all unfortunate souls this act shows in
depth how immoral he becomes.
It didn t stop with killing the king, his friend, Lady Macduff and her children; Macbeth has lost even
the sense of what does love and family mean and becomes more selfish. In Act V, Sc v, the servant
informs Macbeth of the distressing sorrowful news about the death of Lady Macbeth But he replies
with cold nerves: She should have died hereafter;
There would have been a time for such a word
His wife is not one of his main concerns; he does not even respect the sanctity

The Business Model Of Uber And Dropbox
Around the world, people are chanting. Shame on Uber! Stop the evictions, stop the greed! They are
making signs. Homelessness: Love, Airbnb. They are organizing strikes in New York City. They are
storming headquarters in San Francisco. They are blocking roads in France. Uber drivers are
protesting Uber s sudden fare cuts. Community organizations are protesting Airbnb s opposition to
housing affordability bills. Taxi drivers are protesting Uber s opposition to comparable taxi regulation.
Their outrages differ but boil down to the same grievance these multibillion dollar companies are
exploiting the legal gray zone that is the sharing economy. Uber and Airbnb are two of many
technology firms promising visionary futures built on collaborative consumption, but without finding
a regulatory solution, the sharing economy s future may not be as bright as it seems.
What is the Sharing Economy?
An Emerging Business Model Uber, an application that connects ride hailing users with drivers, and
Airbnb, an online lodging platform that derives its name from bed and breakfasts, have practically
become synonymous with collaborative consumption. Companies compete to become the next Uber of
an industry. There is an Uber of flowers that delivers bouquets, an Uber of lawn care that encourages
lawnmower sharing, and even an Uber of medical marijuana (Entis, 2014). The analogy is precarious
considering the variations between these companies, but the basic premise of the sharing

The society valued behaving appropriately to the conventions and values of their time. For instance,
the ideal image of the Englishmen was idolized, which was meant to help civilizing or modernising

The Most Important Characteristics Of Giftedness
Although the history of humanity saw a huge amount of really great leaders who changed the world to
a better place, there were some bad leaders who caused big disaster for the universe too and they still
exist. We see these leaders everywhere. Presidents, team captains, religious leaders, CEOs, etc.
Basically, leaders are the ones who lead others. Actually, when we look at these leaders characters , we
can easily see most of them have gifted people characteristics. Because leadership is one of the most
important characteristics of giftedness. At this point, we can say gifted students are the possible future
leaders. Frankly, it is one of the main reasons that influence me to study gifted education. If the
educators know how to develop their leadership feature, and if they teach these children how to be a
good leader, it means we will see a better world in the future. Creating great leaders of the future for
more livable environments for everyone, this idea is my imagined as an educator. As you know I am

Chinese New Year Is Really Just Around Teh Corner
Chinese New Year is really just around the corner. The Chinese will definitely be busy running errands
to make sure that the Chinese New Year celebration is well prepared. Some may choose to start as
early as a month before the celebration which also means the last month in the Lunar Calendar. This
way, they get to plan things they need to have for the celebration and slowly distributing the tasks
among the family members and then carry them out.
Since Chinese New Year is the most important celebration among the Chinese, the celebration is

Then, the Chinese will also be preparing the food list to have during the Chinese New Year Eve

sound similar to the Western Thanksgiving dinner. Dishes that symbolize prosperity will be prepared
and it will all be fun if you manage to get everyone together to help.
Last but not least, prepare the red packets. It has been a tradition in Chinese New Year to give out red
packets. The amount of money inserted is not important but the meaning of the act is very important.
Red packet is known as lai see in Cantonese and it means lucky money. Usually the adults will prepare
the red packets and give it out to the children throughout the Chinese New Year as a blessing.
That is about all the preparation that needed to be done before ushering the first day of the Lunar

Boomerang Effects of Low Price Discounts: How Low Price Discounts Affect Purchase Propensity .

This article explores how the Boomerang effect , when applied to low priced discounts, can cause a
predisposition on purchase habits. The authors of this article, uses the Boomerang effect on two
different types of conditions (essential and nonessential purchases), that are primarily based on the
theory of purchase habits (Grewal, Monroe, Krishnan, 1998). This research argues that not all

The data collected for this study can be considered highly reliable since the information came from a
current grocery market where there were no set variables to manipulate the overall results of the data.
The second study seeks to analyse the basic boomerang effects by fashioning a scenario (organising a
party), for the total 114 participants. 52 of the participants were undergraduates (61% being female),

Corporate Roles, Personal Virtues, And The Good Life
In the Corporate Roles, Personal Virtues: An Aristotelean Approach to Business Ethics, Robert
Solomon argues that toughness is a virtue, but callousness and indifference is not. Solomon views the
Aristotle approach the proper way, because it considers both personal and business values. However,
Albert Carr argues that business and personal ethics don t mix; and game strategy in business leads to
success. In this paper, I will argue that Carr prevails Solomon s business ethics and his claim.
Aristotle is a philosopher that is known for his interest in virtue ethics, but is more recognized for his
business ethics (Solomon 67). Before explaining the latter, Aristotle explains the role of the virtues in
ethics and the good life through: community, excellence, role identity, integrity, judgement
(phronesis), holism. The Aristotelean approach to community comes first, because we as an individual
find our identity through institutions. Darwinism s survival of the fittest and neo Hobbesian s every
man for themselves contradicts the Aristotelian view. Business and personal agenda needs each other
to be more productive; yet, the corporation one choose will determine the level of happiness or
eudaimonia. Solomon claims that business students now seek jobs that have higher salaries, so he tells
them, to live a decent life by choosing the right company (Solomon 70). Like William Turner
(Bootstrap Bill) who is attached to the Flying Dutchman from Pirates of the Caribbean, business

Democracy And Athenian Democracy
Our constitution is called a democracy because power is in the hands not of a minority but of the
whole people. (Dale. Civilizations in History. Alternative Two. Pg. 92) This quotation perfectly
summarizes Athenian democracy, a system in which all citizens had a say in affecting their daily lives.
This is a contrast to Spartan oligarchy, which limited power to a small group of men. Athenian
democracy encouraged citizens to use their voice and consequently make an impact on their society.
The government included more people s opinions, gave Athenians a more lavish lifestyle and offered
more freedom within the education system. This essay will prove that Athenian democracy left Athens
a more open civilization, which therefore better ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since Athenians could help make decisions, they were more pleased with the outcome. Also, with a
more diverse range of men voting, they were able to use the opinions of different classes, instead of
strictly aristocrats who used to hold all the power and still did in Sparta. Undoubtedly, with the power
Athenian democracy gave to its people, they were better served.
Since Athenian citizens had the power to impact their government, their values were displayed in the
decisions that were made. Athens enjoyed spreading their culture to different places, learning from
others, and trading for expensive items, which is shown by this excerpt. Then the greatness of our city
brings it about that all the good things from all over the world flow into us, so that to us it seems just
as natural to enjoy foreign goods as our own local products... (Dale. Civilizations in History.
Alternative Two. Pg. 92) Athens was a nation that was willing to adapt, whereas Sparta did not want to
change whatsoever, which is clearly presented by this quotation. They were suspicious of anything
foreign, including trade, and they resisted change of any kind. (Dale. Civilizations in History.

society, they did not want to put it at risk. So, they kept to themselves. On the other hand, Athens

There s obviously the group of people that can afford a Porsche, and a group of people that can t
afford a Porsche, people can take a specific attitude towards Porsche that could be negative, because
they can t afford a Porsche. And these specific people can irritate themselves about the people that can
afford a Porsche, just to show off or use it as a reflection of their self image Porsche makes cars that
are obviously not for everyone, they are very expensive. Porsche focuses itself on a specific market.
Rich people. But, Porsche can change consumer attitudes towards the brand. In the 1970s came
Porsche 914, this car was a lot cheaper than the 911 and that meant that a Porsche could also be
affordable for a different class of people, what meant that their attitude towards the brand could
change. Porsche did a couple of years ago exactly the same. But then this affordable version was
called the cayman ( which cost 67.049), it was also a very nice sports car, but a little bit tinier, and less
faster than the 911(which cost 112.000) or the carrera (which cost 122.300) . But

Neiman Marcus Case
Neiman Marcus (A) Analysis of Growth Strategies
Executive Summary
Neiman Marcus (NM), which mainly serves the high end retail market, is currently facing a tough
future. Although it currently enjoys high profit margins and has made significant improvements in its
existing brand performance, its growth has plateaued. NM believes that there is only limited potential
for growth of its current full line stores while maintaining its exclusivity. As a result, it is considering
other growth opportunities. The strategic goal is to increase its revenue by at least $150 million over
the next 6 years while maintaining its attractive profit margins of 15%. Of the number of possible
growth options, we recommend NM to grow via the Galleries ... Show more content on

not only achieving a high level of customer satisfaction, but also establishing themselves as a personal
shopper for the customer. The sales staff is cross trained in multiple departments, and is empowered to
build long term relationships with their customers. This enables NM to provide a customized and
personal experience for its clientele, thus encouraging them to be repeat customers and increase their
spend at NM. NM utilizes another core competency of catalogs for direct marketing, thus creating
avenues to increase spend by the customers.
One of the differentiators for NM, an un imitable competency that creates barriers of entry is the
customer based marketing programs, and events. The InCircle program is targeted to enhance
customer relationships and brand loyalty. Special events and incentives are creating for the crème de

The Importance Of Extreme Work
Extreme work in organisations
The main focus of this argument is on how extreme work is moving into everyday organisational
domains and why might this be something we should be concerned about. The first question that
comes to our mind is; are extreme jobs and extreme work the same subject? Jobs involving the
constancy of extreme working, with work spilling over a range of temporal, spatial and social
boundaries, refusing containment, as evidenced in the growth of corporate overwork cultures
(Bozkurt, 2015) whereas extreme work is work that is being carried out in dangerous, high pressure,
unpredictable, risky situations (Bloomfield Dale 2015). Although only extreme jobs are supposed to
have extremity in the work place, nowadays even normal jobs have phases in which they have to
handle a lot of extreme work. These phases effect the working of the management drastically in many
ways, both positively and negatively. The rapid increase of extreme working conditions in normal jobs
is a paramount issue, thus the question; why is extreme work moving into our everyday organisational
domains hits us.
Even in the occupations not known for intense, dirty or risky work tasks, there is a growing sense in
which normal workplaces are becoming extreme , especially in relation to work intensity, long hours
cultures and the normalizing of extreme work behaviours and cultures (Granter, McCann and Boyle,
2015); like the work of a shopkeeper at Apple, when a new product is launched

The Many Uses of the Element Cobalt
The Many Uses of the Element Cobalt There are many elements in the world and one of them is
cobalt. It is a silvery blue metal with a blue coat. It is element number twenty seven on the table which
means that it has twenty seven protons and electrons. One mole or its atomic weight is 58.9 grams. It
has a relatively high melting and boiling point, the melting point being 1,495 degrees Celsius or 2,723
Fahrenheit and the boiling point being 2,927 degrees Celsius or 5,301 Fahrenheit. The top three
countries that mine this element are the District Republic of the Congo, Cuba, and Australia in that

Cobalt is used in these fields for many reasons. The main reason though is that cobalt has a high Curie
temperature. A Curie temperature is basically how hot a metal can be heated while maintaining its
magnetism. Cobalt s Curie temp is 1,121 degrees Celsius. Cobalt also has a high magnetic power and
tesla (magnetic density) (Cobalt Facts). Cobalt is also used in various electronics. Cobalt is used
because it has the power to carry and direct currents like other metals. Cobalt is used in circuits and
semi conductors because of this. Cobalt is also used in batteries. Cobalt is used as a powder in
batteries to raise the power while stabilizing the battery at the same time. One of the main visual uses
of cobalt though, is in chemistry. Cobalt has many uses in the aspect of Chemistry. One of the main
uses is a catalyst in petroleum. Specifically, CoMoO4 is used to help change petroleum into gas

used as a catalyst to speed up the resin process when making plastics (Cobalt Facts). Cobalt is also
used to produce bright blue colors in paints (Cobalt Periodic). They are also in many other chemical

Similarities Between The British East India Trading Company
The Dutch East India Trading Company and the British East India Company had several similarities
between the two. An obvious similarity was the fact that they were both trading companies that were
located within east India. Some other similarities include that they both traded raw materials. Another
similarity between the two was that they had people work on farms for them in order to get their cash
crops. Adding to the cash crops, many farmland would be taken over by cash crops. In doing so, the
cash crops brought great success and wealth to each of the trading companies; however, it also
brought the same difficulties to the people. People would have much of their farmland taken from

extremely useful when it came to raw resources. India was able to produce the resources needed by

able to transport their products. The railroad network had been a huge step up for the British East

cotton, jute, and opium. Trade with many of these crops was because of international events. For
example, if a resource was limited at the time, India would make a large profit off of it if they could

Environmental Justice And Gentrification Of The United...
Final Paper
Environmental Justice and Gentrification
The United States and its population pride themselves on setting the trend. Whether it s the newest
clothing line, the best recording artist, or a slightly more important issue, Americans pride themselves
in setting the pace on issues for the rest of the world. One issue that has caught our attention is the
term urban greening . This is defined as taking an urban area and making it more green by adding
parks, building green roofs on apartments, or closing power plants and other harmful industrial areas
to create a more environmentally safe area (Brasuell, 2014). When a low income area, with many
undesirable environmental qualities, starts becoming greener, it causes a negative effect on that
population (Regan, n.d). While their housing is now better, the neighborhood becomes increasingly
desirable, causing a spike in cost of living and other expenses. Now that the rent has increased, the
original tenants cannot afford the new prices, and they are forced to move out. This process is called
environmental gentrification . This term has sparked numerous debates due to it s two polar opposite
sides. While environmental justice strives to provide equal development, implementation, and
enforcement of environmental laws and quality, these qualities are what makes low income areas
desirable. Imagine a low income area in New York City, where a neighborhood is next to several
production plants and is not near any

Locke And Rousseau s Influence On Education
Education has been ever developing since the inception of the first schools. The early theorists
believed that children were mini adults. Children were treated the same as their adult counterparts.
They were given jobs at early ages, and dressed the same as their parents. This belief, that children
were just little adults, was called Preformationism. Though this may seem like an antiquated idea,
aspects of Preformationism are still scene in today s society. We often lapse into the same thinking
today, as when we expect young children to sit still for hour, or when we assume that their thinking is
the same as ours (Crain 5). Clearly there was the need for new theories, which would better explain
child development and education. This is where Locke and Rousseau come in.
John Locke, a British philosopher, focused on the role of social environment and experiences in
education. Locke believed that children s minds were blank slates. Meaning we are not born with any
innate notions or abilities. Locke consider the mind to be...white paper void of all characteristics,
without any ideas. (Crain 7) The mind is very pliable and ready to accept new information. Locke
believed children learned in four ways, the first of which is associations. What this means is that we
simultaneously think of two things and associate them. For example if you get sick after eating at
McDonalds, you might feel stomach pain every time you see one. The next way is repetition, or doing
something several

Choir. This was the first time I would see an interpreter at an event. I was excited and astonished to
see one. I understood mostly all the signs that were shown but there were a couple I didn t know.
Majority of the time was of course them singing. They sang popular songs such as Bruno Mars, Cher,
and even film scores from The Sound of Music and DreamGirls . I thought it was great for the event to
have interpreters there. I didn t see anyone who was deaf or signing when I got closer to the stage but I

I thought it was odd to have them do that but I thought they must be learning. I noticed the interpreters
were using old and new signs which was interesting. For instance, instead of the crossed arms for I

when I see an individual signing, at the appropriate moment I would try to understand what they are
communicating to learn more signs and to better understand how to communicate to other individuals
who are deaf. I would look at the interpreter instead of paying attention to those who are hearing, for
instance I was watching the interpreter throughout the event or in class when professor Chuck was
signing while watching the film Sound and Fury . The different signs I learned were song, hills, the
phrase say what , 16 going on 17 , loud, either, and Monday. Although this is not an event but I would
like to mention how fascinated I am with our hearing society is more involved with the deaf culture. I
have not seen this much use of ASL since taking the class. For instance, I always get excited now

Because squared units are not intuitive, we square root the variance, known as the standard deviation.
Diversification and Variance Reduction
When uncertain numbers are averaged together, the distribution of the average goes up in the middle
and down on the ends, becoming more centralized. This centralizing of the distribution is the primary
manifestation of diversification.
The width or narrowness of a distribution defines the range of uncertainty of the number. The wider
the distribution, the greater the variance, standard deviation and uncertainty.
The Central Limit Theorem
If enough independent samples of almost any distribution are averaged together, then the resulting
distribution will be normal .
The Normal Distribution
The normal distribution is an idealization of the result of averaging a large number of identical,
independent random variables. They are centered at their mean or average. Their width is measured by
the standard deviation, or the square root of the variance.

According to newer approaches to bereavement, the Dual Process Model (DPM) can help to

harnessed by the art therapist to allow the client a creative outlet to express intense and changing
emotions (Lister et. al, 2008, p. 248). The role of the art therapist is not to prohibit the
expression of negative emotions, but to help hold the space and contain these emotions in a safe
environment. Exploring emotions can not only be cathartic, but over time the exploration
through art making can help to reframe these emotions into something that is easier to carry.
In facilitating an art therapy group with adults who are bereaved and grieving, it was
apparent that art making allowed for exploration of both loss orientation an restoration
orientation. For the first session, the theme was around strength and groundedness. The group
began with the question of how do the adults define strength and groundedness in daily life and
closed with the poem Advice from a Tree (Shamir, 2016). The directive was kept fairly simple

E.e. Cummings, Poem, Anyone Li Essay
E.E. Cummings
quot;anyone lived in a pretty how town quot;
I first read this poem and I thought of love, two people in love. Anyone and noone are in love and that
is what matters to them, to be in love with each other and with life. It involves the day, the night, and
how the weather changes. The seasons revolve and the children grow up to become adults. As I read
the poem I realized there were three sections to it. Which consist of anyone and noone, quot;women
and men quot; in line four, and the children. The first stanza is strange the first time you read it. You
do not understand quot;anyone quot; is a person and not just anyone. I believe that line six is referring
to all of the adults in the town, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The portion of line two which states quot;many bells down quot;, is possibly referring to the death of
the children and somewhat the death of anyone and noone. The reference to death in lines twenty nine
and thirty by stating quot;deep by deep quot; and quot;more by more they dream their sleep quot;
shows how they surcome to death. In line thirty three quot;ding and dong quot; I think could be
anyone and noone.
Death is a part of the poem but the turning point lies in line twenty five, which states: quot;one day
anyone died i guess quot;. The main focal point is the uncapitalized quot;i quot;, in analyzing poems I
have begun to look at punctuation to tell me something about the author and look more deeply into the
poem and it amp;#8217;s meaning. The uncapatilized quot;i quot; gives a detached feeling when you
look at the line closely. It seems as though he could be detached because of the death that surrounds
this poem, has if does not want to involve himself as much in it. The quot;i quot; could also represent
the importance of something, probably love which one of the underlying themes of the poem. The
children are still alive until line twenty five. As in lines twenty two and twenty three they are thought
to be just playing, not being an important part, but Cummings is quite possibly showing their lack of
maturation. They do not seem as though they are too old to be just playing around, but as it says in

How Can Historians Make Use Of The Stories That The Romans
How can historians make use of the stories that the Romans told about their founders and foundations?
Abstract. There are two distinct stories regarding the foundation of ancient Rome, with claims to two
founders. The story of Romulus and Remus describes the literal foundation of the city where as the
Aeneid addresses the origins in the foundations of the Roman people being descended from Aeneas. In
regards to their use to historians, though there is debate as to the legitimacy of historical facts, looking
beyond the actual story and noting the difference between versions particularly in Romulus and
Remus can give clues of Roman society during the time of it being written. The information contained
within the stories of foundation reflects the needs of the Romans citizens and the influences of the era.
Introduction. Through the study of past evidence, historians become capable of creating educated
interpretations of the past based on such evidence and previous knowledge. Difficulty in interpretation
does not come from insufficient evidence, with an abundance of preserved historical works from
writers, Livy and Dionysius of Halicarnassus for example, but the unreliable nature of literary
tradition (Cornell, 1986) resulting in differentiated opinions of the usefulness of ancient evidence
particularly with the incompatible stories of Roman foundation. The usefulness of stories from
Romans can become increasingly valuable though there are some historians of the opinion the

your teeth too. You might also want to brush and floss alongside your child. It will help make the
experience more fun for your child. Plus, you can use those precious minutes for bonding.
3. Offer Rewards
If there is one thing children like, it s rewards. During the beginning of your flossing adventure,
consider offering your child a reward for good behavior or proper technique. It doesn t have to be
candy or food, you can use toys or stickers as a reward. You can also offer extended playtime, reading,
or TV time, as a reward too.
4. Start Early and Go Slow
Finally, make sure you start instilling good flossing habits early. The younger your child starts, the
better. Starting young will also ensure that they continue the habit throughout their life. In addition,
make sure start slow. Your child may not get the hang of it immediately and that s perfectly
acceptable. Show them the ropes, practice daily, and soon they will be a master at flossing.
Flossing is a crucial part of a good oral hygiene routine. It helps to remove plaque buildup and it keeps
the gums and teeth healthy. If you are trying to introduce flossing into your child s routine, use these
four tips. Additionally, make sure they are visiting a pediatric dentist on a regular

Organ Donation And Organ Organs Essay
Organ donations have encountered organ donor and organ supply rejections. Organ donation
challenges and demands increase as the organ shortages increase over the years. Organ donation s
mission is to save many terminally ill recipients at the end stages of their lives. The significance of the
organ donation is to give back to restore one s quality of life. The ongoing issues may present an
idealistic portrait of how these issues may be resolved. As a result, the mission of organ donations are
to restore organs for their patients and to promote, education, empower altruism and quality ethics as a
resource for existing and potential donors Organ donations has been perceived by potential organ
donors to be inhumane activity, a dishonor to the humanized process, circulation of illegal revenue,
and conceptual grounds needs to be consistent with altruism as the empowered outcome. Inhumane
activity is the overall reason why this proposal is for increasing organ donations which are frequently
rejected by incongruities with solidarity motivation as donor s measures. It differentiates ethical
principal amongst altruism and solidarity motivations for organ donations. The first issue being the
grounds is a limited form of additional problems limited to supporters (Saunders, 2012), which may be
independent or of individual groups, awaiting for the scarcity of organs to receive the next available
transplantation. Individuals are practicing degrading behaviors, illegal activity, and

Illegal Immigration And Illegal Immigrants
Abstract
Throughout the years there has been and increasing number of illegal immigrants in this country. Just
recently Obama took executive action to shield illegal immigrants from deportation. A Texas Judge
though blocked his executive action on immigration. Illegal immigration is a huge controversy here in
the United States partly due to Americans thinking that illegal immigrates are taking jobs, causing
lower wages, and the costs of education. In Immigration and the American Worker, George Borjas
found that the presence of immigrant workers, whether they are legal or illegal, made the U.S
economy about 11 percent larger each year. If overall the U.S economy is better off with illegal
immigrant workers, then why is there a push for harsher immigration policies? The controversy is due
to the fact that the impact of illegal immigration changes from state to state. I hypothesize that the
problem is the distribution of illegal immigrants across the United States. I believe that the benefits
outweigh the costs and that because of the distribution of illegal immigrants, the costs are only felt by
a few. By granting amnesty to the undocumented workers we could increase the level of tax payers
and better the lives of those who feel the costs of illegal immigrants the most. I will test this
hypothesis out by looking at the impact illegal immigrant on the labor market, the cost of illegal
immigration, cost of ant immigrant policies, impact of legalization, and impact of amnesty.

  • 2. Ishmael Quotes I had heard from adults that this was a revolutionary war, a liberation of the people from corrupt government. But what kind of liberation movement shoots innocent civilians, children, that little girl? (Beah 14) Comments on Chosen Quote: I don t know why this quote spoke to me, but it did. I find it ironic how every time these rebellions start, the people end up getting hurt. I m not saying that you shouldn t rebel, because sometimes it s necessary for us to progress as human beings, but it s just so paradoxical. People often rebel for better conditions, treatment, etc., but before they get these things (if they get these things), they suffer through the worst conditions. They face suffering, hunger, death, and much more before anything ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The death penalty is heavily debated, with some people in favor of it and some against it. I myself am against it because I feel like if you ve done something to deserve the death penalty, you deserve something worse than death. I believe they should rot in jail, not just be executed and not suffer at all. I believe the same for the current situation of the book. However, I have to remember that my country and his country are different. Sometimes the people have to take these things into their own hands because authority doesn t do much. Sometimes solving things with violence is their perfect answer, like how the soldiers did when getting rid of some rebels. While that s not the method I prefer, I cannot judge because a lot of things were/ are different in Sierra Leone from the United ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Tell Tale Heart Literary Analysis Imagine an elderly man with the eye of a vulture that has the power to vex a man forcing him to become a murderer. In Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe this unlikely scenario comes to life. A young man contracts a disease after the elder roommate s eye possesses him. This disease heightens his senses so he can hear the voices from heaven, hell, and everything in between. Poe creates a dreadful and abhorrent story through characterization, literary techniques, and an insidious plot. Poe uses characterization to develop realistic characters readers can relate to. From the start the narrator does not hide his methodical side well. He stalks the old man for seven consecutive nights, taking an hour each time to open the door wide enough ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The narrator was insidious before and after the murder. He has a preconceived plan but object there was none. Passion there was none (Poe 303). The narrator said the old man s eye vexed him but he could not be vexed if the old man slept with his eyes closed and as a result he could not commit the murder for seven nights. For these nights he was calm and light hearted. He is laughing during his stalking mission. The giggling portrayed the narrator as carefree even though he was aware of the deed he was about to commit. With this knowledge he was patient, as if he had all the time in the world. The narrator devoted countless hours to stalking the elderly man because he was intrigued in the murder. On the night of the murder everything changes; he feels surges of adrenaline he mistakes as power. The narrator is empowered and building confidence. He carries the confidence even when the policemen arrive. He seems cool, calm, and collected, For what had [the narrator] to fear? (Poe 306). He knows the policemen cannot find evidence because he performed the perfect murder. The policemen are convinced by his calm manner. Soon after the narrator seems pale and feels a headache. In addition, it also aimed to test the relationship between perceived cultural conflicts, support from the HR department and the willingness to take online cross cultural training. After that, the concept of epistemology and ontology needs to be taken into consideration, which influences the formation of research questions and implementation of research (Bryman and Bell, 2011). Epistemology is concerned about questions of what is regarded as acceptable knowledge in a discipline (Bryman and Bell, 2011). Two main ideologies in epistemology are positivism and interpretivism. The former combines both a deductive approach and inductive strategy; it aims to test theories (Pugh, 1983). The latter aims to gather and appreciate subjective settings in natural contexts (Bryman and Bell, 2011). Ontology is relevant to the nature of society and two main ideologies within ontology are objectivism and constructionism. Objectivism argues that social actors are independent of social phenomena; however, constructionism argues that the actions of social actors construct the social phenomena such as organisational culture. There is a difference between quantitative and qualitative research in terms of relationship with theory, epistemological and ontological orientations. After taking epistemology (positivism and interpretivism) and ontology (objectivism and constructionism) into consideration, both quantitative and qualitative researches were required in this research. As discussed below, Dodd Frank seeks to address the highly sensitive and controversial notion that Wall Street banks have been designated by the Federal Reserve as too big to fail. In fact, during the most severe moments of the crisis, the voices of free market proponents could be heard advocating that these troubled big banks, suffering massive losses due to their own bad bets, and if weakened to the point of failure, should be allowed to fail. Hindsight shows that allowing just one to fail, Lehman Brothers, had serious and lasting detrimental effect on the US and global financial system and markets. Had Lehman been saved, it would have been the most effective agent to unwind all of the transactions and trades to which it was a party, and likely in a rapid manner. However, being thrust into bankruptcy, and thereafter receivers were appointed to unwind the business, took months upon months and vast resources to settle Lehman accounts. Had Citibank, Bank of America, Bear Stearns, or AIG been allowed to fail, it may have been possible that the US financial system would have melted down completely. So these super banks, and non banks, cannot be allowed to fail in crisis, due to the system wide risk. It captures in a glimpse the socio historical milieu which shaped the identity of the General Practitioner in Victorian England since the 1840s. The painting shows a doctor attending the sickbed of a poor child. Though a candle is burning still, a natural light also comes in, suggesting that it is now dawn, and the child has survived the night. Throughout this piece of writing I will be showing the changes within Macbeths character, which is the only character within the play that has visible changes in his character. I will be describing these points by inspecting the asides and soliloquies, which are both dramatic ironies that place the audience in a privileged position as they are introduced to the characters thought pattern that gives them an insight to how he may be feeling. All of which is unbeknown to other characters in the scene. In Act I, Sc iii, when Macbeth is told that he is the Thane of Cawdor, he is ... This doesn t only show us a mental change but also how Macbeth lost his morality, honesty, and nobility and became more frenzied, no more mercy to be thought of or shown and decides, The firstlings of my heart shall be The firstling of my hand. Comparing this to the first soliloquy in my piece of writing we perceive a tremendous development of his personality and attitude. He is not hesitant about killing any more and will do any thing to keep his throne and power. Following his meeting with the witches they tell him to be ware Macduff and macbeth acts upon this warning by sending murderers to kill His wife, his babes, and all unfortunate souls this act shows in depth how immoral he becomes. It didn t stop with killing the king, his friend, Lady Macduff and her children; Macbeth has lost even the sense of what does love and family mean and becomes more selfish. In Act V, Sc v, the servant informs Macbeth of the distressing sorrowful news about the death of Lady Macbeth But he replies with cold nerves: She should have died hereafter; There would have been a time for such a word His wife is not one of his main concerns; he does not even respect the sanctity ... In this paper, I will argue that Carr prevails Solomon s business ethics and his claim. Aristotle is a philosopher that is known for his interest in virtue ethics, but is more recognized for his business ethics (Solomon 67). Before explaining the latter, Aristotle explains the role of the virtues in ethics and the good life through: community, excellence, role identity, integrity, judgement (phronesis), holism. • 24. The Importance Of Extreme Work Extreme work in organisations The main focus of this argument is on how extreme work is moving into everyday organisational domains and why might this be something we should be concerned about. The first question that comes to our mind is; are extreme jobs and extreme work the same subject? Jobs involving the constancy of extreme working, with work spilling over a range of temporal, spatial and social boundaries, refusing containment, as evidenced in the growth of corporate overwork cultures (Bozkurt, 2015) whereas extreme work is work that is being carried out in dangerous, high pressure, unpredictable, risky situations (Bloomfield Dale 2015). Although only extreme jobs are supposed to have extremity in the work place, nowadays even normal jobs have phases in which they have to handle a lot of extreme work. These phases effect the working of the management drastically in many ways, both positively and negatively. The rapid increase of extreme working conditions in normal jobs is a paramount issue, thus the question; why is extreme work moving into our everyday organisational domains hits us. Even in the occupations not known for intense, dirty or risky work tasks, there is a growing sense in which normal workplaces are becoming extreme , especially in relation to work intensity, long hours cultures and the normalizing of extreme work behaviours and cultures (Granter, McCann and Boyle, 2015); like the work of a shopkeeper at Apple, when a new product is launched ... Whether it s the newest clothing line, the best recording artist, or a slightly more important issue, Americans pride themselves in setting the pace on issues for the rest of the world. One issue that has caught our attention is the term urban greening . This is defined as taking an urban area and making it more green by adding parks, building green roofs on apartments, or closing power plants and other harmful industrial areas to create a more environmentally safe area (Brasuell, 2014). When a low income area, with many undesirable environmental qualities, starts becoming greener, it causes a negative effect on that population (Regan, n.d). While their housing is now better, the neighborhood becomes increasingly desirable, causing a spike in cost of living and other expenses. Now that the rent has increased, the original tenants cannot afford the new prices, and they are forced to move out. This process is called environmental gentrification . This term has sparked numerous debates due to it s two polar opposite sides. While environmental justice strives to provide equal development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws and quality, these qualities are what makes low income areas desirable. Children were treated the same as their adult counterparts. They were given jobs at early ages, and dressed the same as their parents. This belief, that children were just little adults, was called Preformationism. Though this may seem like an antiquated idea, aspects of Preformationism are still scene in today s society. We often lapse into the same thinking today, as when we expect young children to sit still for hour, or when we assume that their thinking is the same as ours (Crain 5). In regards to their use to historians, though there is debate as to the legitimacy of historical facts, looking beyond the actual story and noting the difference between versions particularly in Romulus and Remus can give clues of Roman society during the time of it being written. The information contained within the stories of foundation reflects the needs of the Romans citizens and the influences of the era. Introduction. Through the study of past evidence, historians become capable of creating educated interpretations of the past based on such evidence and previous knowledge. Difficulty in interpretation does not come from insufficient evidence, with an abundance of preserved historical works from writers, Livy and Dionysius of Halicarnassus for example, but the unreliable nature of literary tradition (Cornell, 1986) resulting in differentiated opinions of the usefulness of ancient evidence particularly with the incompatible stories of Roman foundation. Just recently Obama took executive action to shield illegal immigrants from deportation. A Texas Judge though blocked his executive action on immigration. Illegal immigration is a huge controversy here in the United States partly due to Americans thinking that illegal immigrates are taking jobs, causing lower wages, and the costs of education. In Immigration and the American Worker, George Borjas found that the presence of immigrant workers, whether they are legal or illegal, made the U.S economy about 11 percent larger each year. If overall the U.S economy is better off with illegal immigrant workers, then why is there a push for harsher immigration policies? The controversy is due to the fact that the impact of illegal immigration changes from state to state. I hypothesize that the problem is the distribution of illegal immigrants across the United States. I believe that the benefits outweigh the costs and that because of the distribution of illegal immigrants, the costs are only felt by a few. By granting amnesty to the undocumented workers we could increase the level of tax payers and better the lives of those who feel the costs of illegal immigrants the most. I will test this hypothesis out by looking at the impact illegal immigrant on the labor market, the cost of illegal immigration, cost of ant immigrant policies, impact of legalization, and impact of amnesty. ...
