This document discusses the benefits of using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for sustainability and renewable energy. It argues that UAVs can help monitor the environment, support renewable energy infrastructure like solar farms, and assist in agriculture. Specifically, the document outlines how UAVs can be used to monitor wildlife, map and inspect renewable energy installations efficiently, assist in precision agriculture tasks like crop monitoring and spraying, and help reforest areas. UAVs produce no emissions and can access remote or hazardous locations safely, making them a more sustainable option than traditional vehicles for these monitoring and support functions.

Design And Analysis of Buoyant Wind TurbineIRJET Journal
This document describes the design and analysis of a buoyant air turbine (BAT), a type of airborne wind energy system. The BAT differs from a traditional wind turbine in that it floats in the air, anchored to the ground by cables. CFD analysis is performed on a BAT model designed in CREO software to analyze pressure, velocity, lift and drag forces at wind velocities of 3-6 m/s. Results show that maximum pressure, outlet velocity, drag force, and lift force all increase with higher wind velocity. The analysis demonstrates the BAT concept and evaluates its performance under different wind conditions.

Session 6: Scene-setting-Mainstreaming resilience in projects - Sophie Lavaud...OECD Environment
Indonesia is highly vulnerable to climate change risks such as sea level rise, landslides, floods and droughts due to its dense population and dependence on natural resources. Climate change impacts on infrastructure can lead to severe social and economic consequences by disrupting access to basic services. Mainstreaming climate resilience into infrastructure planning can help reduce these risks through fortifying infrastructure, increasing system capacities, and building in higher elevations. This requires assessing climate hazards and risks, adapting planning policies, technical standards, and financing strategies to account for future climate conditions. However, developing climate resilient infrastructure faces challenges from uncertainties around future climate impacts, a lack of climate information, and misaligned incentives across administrative cycles.
How Clean is the Green? Electric Vehicles the Way ForwardIRJET Journal
This document discusses whether electric vehicles are truly clean and environmentally friendly. While EVs produce no tailpipe emissions, the manufacturing and recycling of their lithium-ion batteries have significant environmental impacts. Mining the raw materials for batteries damages ecosystems and uses large amounts of water and energy. Producing a single EV battery can emit over 3 tons of carbon. Additionally, the carbon footprint of EVs depends on how clean the local energy grid is - EVs charged via coal power have higher emissions than gasoline vehicles. As EVs grow in popularity, safely recycling millions of retired batteries will also pose major challenges. Overall, the document questions whether EVs are as green as claimed when considering their entire lifecycle impacts.

This study examines the effect of response reduction factors (R factors) on reinforced concrete (RC) framed structures through nonlinear dynamic analysis. Three RC frame models with varying heights (4, 8, and 12 stories) were analyzed in ETABS software under different R factors ranging from 1 to 5. The results showed that displacement increased as the R factor decreased, indicating less linear behavior for lower R factors. Drift also decreased proportionally with increasing R factors from 1 to 5. Shear forces in the frames decreased with higher R factors. In general, R factors of 3 to 5 produced more satisfactory performance with less displacement and drift. The displacement variations between different building heights were consistent at different R factors. This study evaluated how R factors influence

Embedded machine learning-based road conditions and driving behavior monitoringIJECEIAES
Car accident rates have increased in recent years, resulting in losses in human lives, properties, and other financial costs. An embedded machine learning-based system is developed to address this critical issue. The system can monitor road conditions, detect driving patterns, and identify aggressive driving behaviors. The system is based on neural networks trained on a comprehensive dataset of driving events, driving styles, and road conditions. The system effectively detects potential risks and helps mitigate the frequency and impact of accidents. The primary goal is to ensure the safety of drivers and vehicles. Collecting data involved gathering information on three key road events: normal street and normal drive, speed bumps, circular yellow speed bumps, and three aggressive driving actions: sudden start, sudden stop, and sudden entry. The gathered data is processed and analyzed using a machine learning system designed for limited power and memory devices. The developed system resulted in 91.9% accuracy, 93.6% precision, and 92% recall. The achieved inference time on an Arduino Nano 33 BLE Sense with a 32-bit CPU running at 64 MHz is 34 ms and requires 2.6 kB peak RAM and 139.9 kB program flash memory, making it suitable for resource-constrained embedded systems.

Comparative analysis between traditional aquaponics and reconstructed aquapon...bijceesjournal
The aquaponic system of planting is a method that does not require soil usage. It is a method that only needs water, fish, lava rocks (a substitute for soil), and plants. Aquaponic systems are sustainable and environmentally friendly. Its use not only helps to plant in small spaces but also helps reduce artificial chemical use and minimizes excess water use, as aquaponics consumes 90% less water than soil-based gardening. The study applied a descriptive and experimental design to assess and compare conventional and reconstructed aquaponic methods for reproducing tomatoes. The researchers created an observation checklist to determine the significant factors of the study. The study aims to determine the significant difference between traditional aquaponics and reconstructed aquaponics systems propagating tomatoes in terms of height, weight, girth, and number of fruits. The reconstructed aquaponics system’s higher growth yield results in a much more nourished crop than the traditional aquaponics system. It is superior in its number of fruits, height, weight, and girth measurement. Moreover, the reconstructed aquaponics system is proven to eliminate all the hindrances present in the traditional aquaponics system, which are overcrowding of fish, algae growth, pest problems, contaminated water, and dead fish.
