live. Before going to see it and writing this paper, I decided to do some research on both of the
plays to see if I could get a better understanding of them. As a result, I decided on Casa Valentina
because it was about a topic that I was unfamiliar with. The playis set in the early 1960s when men
would go to the Catskill Mountains and escape. But escape what? In this play, they would escape
being men. Seeing the photographic oddness of men being dressed in little neat dresses has
always been a source of comedy and a favorite in theatre. This play is no different. The play was
also a huge success, being nominated for multiple awards, including four Tony s and winning other

say about life is that everyone is different. It raised universal questions of who am I? What is my

gastrointestinal (GI) tract. There are two most common types of IBD, Chrohn s disease and

down, and elimination of waste from the body. The GI tract includes all of the parts of the body

driven purely by self interest, and the Italian representative, Vittorio Orlando, was greedy in his

proposal that would establish a liberal structure of peace to prevent major European powers from

A norm is a behavior or unspoken rule that society has deemed as normal or acceptable. Those
who do not follow the norms of a group may be shunned or looked at as different. The norm I
will be violating for my project is asking people that I am unfamiliar with to do something simple
for me. It is not common for a stranger to ask another stranger to do something that they are
seemingly able to do. This normacts as a mechanism of social control by keeping people from
talking to those who are unfamiliar. It also puts forward the idea that we should be able to do all
simple tasks ourselves. To break this norm, I am going to wear tennis shoes with one of the laces
untied and ask strangers passing by to tie my shoe for me.
The range of possible reactions for this norm might be people who are willing to help a stranger tie
their shoe, people who ignore the question and keep walking, some might be hesitant and question
why, and people might say no straight away. I predict the major reaction to be people
questioning why can I not do it myself, and then they keep walking. I do not think the majority
of people will be willing to tie a stranger s shoe, especially since I look like I can easily do it

The present work, therefore, was conducted to evaluate the role of glycine betaine in protecting the
proteins inleucerne plants through protease enzyme activity from being damaged by salt stress. On
the basis of our results we discuss the response of leucerne plants to salt stress and glycine betaine.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
Purification of Protease The leucerne plant leaves are procured from 70 days old plants and
allowed to stand for two days in a humidity controlled dark growth chamber at 340C. The leaves
were homogenized with 0.1M phosphate buffer (pH 7.0) containing 0.4M sucrose and 0.05M
sodium ascorbate in a waring blender. Filtered homogenate was (I in Table 1) was squeezed
through a gauze and centrifuged at 2000 rpm for 20 mins. The supernatant (II in Table 1) was
adjusted to pH 5.0 by the addition of 1N acetic acid and allowed to stand overnight. The precipitate
was removed by centrifugation and the supernatant (III in Table 1) was subjected to ammonium
sulphate fractionation between 0.25 and 0.9 saturation. The ammonium sulphate precipitate was
suspended in 0.0025M Mc llvain buffer (pH 5.5) containing 2.5 Г— 10 3 M sodium ascorbate and
dialyzed against the same buffer at 40C for 20 hrs. The dialysate (IV in Table 1) was centrifuged
and the supernatant was fractionated by the addition of ethanol at 50C. A fraction precipitating
between 20 and 60% ethanol was collected and dialyzed in the same way.

Due to the need to prove the effects of the harshness of reality, the modernist concerns of the post
