March of Dimes and Bixal - Using social media to deliver health messagesbixal
Through the March of Dimes Hispanic Outreach efforts, millions of women and their families from around the world can actively participate in their own health decisions by gathering information, receiving answers to often complicated and difficult questions and getting support from other community members who are in similar situations. Social media has expanded the way we communicate with our audience. Through an integrated Spanish language presence online, the March of Dimes maximizes outreach and engagement across audiences and media. It provides bilingual access to the Pregnancy & Newborn Health Education Center through which women have received answers to over 23,000 personal questions in 2011. The Spanish-only website, nacersano.org, had over 7 million unique visitors in 2011 and its blog had an average of 1,650 views per day.
In this session you’ll learn how the March of Dimes uses the web and social media to deliver solid health information that meets the needs of Hispanic women, reinforces positive behavior and furthers its mission to improve the health of all babies. March of Dimes has developed a unique and culturally-tailored presence to engage, educate and inform their specific segment of the Hispanic community. From culturally-relevant imagery and content focused on the specific needs of its audience to using social media to engage Latinas and answer their questions, the March of Dimes is a useful case study for other nonprofits (and even for profits) on how to reach and serve this dynamic and diverse audience.
In this session you will learn:
How nonprofits can use social media to promote their mission and increase awareness within their Hispanic community?
How to identify key issues and/or messages that are relevant to the Hispanic community and will help create conversation.
Why high-quality content focused on the needs of your Hispanic audience is important?
How does the March of Dimes plan to continue building on its successful experience?

LICCs are local planning and advisory bodies for the local Early On system, established through the 56 ISDs in Michigan. LICCs mirror the mandated MICC in concept and allow for involvement of parents, agencies, organizations, and individuals necessary to develop and maintain a coordinated early intervention service system. The role of an LICC is to advise and assist the intermediate school district in matters related to Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Early Intervention Program for Infants and Toddlers with Disabilities: Final Regulations. In Michigan we call this program Early On. LICC activities include: fostering interagency collaboration and information sharing, disseminating public awareness and other materials that help caregivers identify potential developmental delays and disabilities, promoting parent and family involvement in all community activities, and encouraging community efforts supporting inclusion of children with special needs and their families.

Most parents wonder at times if their child is growing and developing like other children. If you question how your child is developing, "Don't worry. But don't wait." Early On Michigan assists families with infants and toddlers, from birth until 36 months of age, who have a delay in their development or a diagnosed disability.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Child Find in Michigan
• History
Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is legislation
that established the only federal formula grant program for infants and toddlers
with developmental delays or disabilities and their families. Originally Public
Law (PL) 99-477, Congress added it to the Education of the Handicapped Act
in 1986. Congress reauthorized the legislation and renamed the act the
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) in 1992; it then became
known as PL 102-119, Part H of IDEA. Congress reauthorized the act again in
1997 as PL 105-17, Part C of IDEA; in 2004 it was reauthorized under Part C
of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act. In Michigan,
we call this Part C of IDEA, Early On.
