Case Study Of Nintendo s Pokemon Go
Nintendo s market share and stock have both dramatically increased following the recent release of
the new App Pokemon Go. In recent years, however, Nintendo had been falling behind competitors
such as Microsoft and Sony, and sales for new products and games were not. Furthermore, the
immediate success of Nintendos Pokemon Go could be the start of a wild turnaround for a
company that has been struggling as sales of its most recent game console, the WiiU flopped due to
fierce competition from rivals such as Microsoft s Xbox One and Sony s PlayStation 4. Nintendo
s earnings took a huge hit as a result net income tanked around 60% in the most recent fiscal year.
Before Friday s bounce, the company s stock had lost nearly 50% of its value over the last 12
months. With profits and sales... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pokemon Go has increased the market share of Nintendo through having a revolutionary
gameplay, that involves various techniques of marketing, appealing to a large range of people.
With recent technologies improving on the idea and practicality of virtual reality, Pokemon Go
capitalizes on this thought and makes it a reality. By letting users catch Pokemon in physical
settings, they no longer have to play through just a screen. Pokemon Go has done what no
government program in the last decade has been able to do: encourage users to go out and
exercise. Not only do users have to physically walk distances to evolve and hatch their Pokemon,
but they also must be able to interact and socialize with other trainers. It is a multiplayer game that
promotes teamwork, as well as social interaction. Nostalgia, coupled with revolutionary gaming
technologies, has launched this age old game into a new era. The chain s success with Pokemon
Go can be owed to the fact that this newer version might just be a better one. With its easy

Essay about Central Line Clinical Practice Guideline and...
Central Line Clinical Practice Guideline Rational Central venous catheters (CVCs) are frequently
used in intensive care units (ICUs) for a number of reasons (measure central venous pressure, when
peripheral veins are unable to be accessed, administration of medications/therapies and aspiration of
blood samples) (Conroy, 2006, p. 98). Patients in this environment already have an increased risk of
infection because of their treatments. Patient treatments commonly involve invasive devices or
interventions (major surgery), antibiotic therapy (raises the risk of bacterial resistance) while
steroid, chemotherapy and radiation therapy all suppress the immune system (Hatler, Hebden,
Kaler, Zack, 2010). NSWHealth (2005) found that 20 40%... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This means aseptic technique and sterile gloves should be used for insertion and care of a CVC.
Aseptic technique is critically important to protect patients from CLABSIs; infections are caused
by either intrinsic (e.g. patients own flora) or extrinsic (e.g. surrounding environment) pathogens.
Asepsis therefore removes patients skin flora and ensures flora picked up from either other
patients or the surrounding environment is not introduced into the patient (Mollee et al., 2011).
Raad et al. (1994) found in a randomised trial that CLABSIs were 6.3 times higher in a control
group then those who had their CVC inserted under maximal barrier precautions (consisting of
mask, cap, sterile gloves, gown, large drape). These findings were replicated by Abi‐Said et al.
(1999) who also found that if strict aseptic techniques were adhered too during dressing changes,
in addition to close monitoring of patients there was a decrease in bloodstream infection rates.
As described above CLABSIs are more common when aseptic techniques at the time of insertion
have not been observed. Contamination of catheters by skin flora at the time of insertion is one
of the risks for developing a subsequent CLABSI. Therefore CVCs need to be replaced within
48hrs if asepsis cannot be guaranteed for insertion (LeMaster et al., 2010). For insertion and during
care of a CVC

Comparison Of Johann Wolfgang Von Goe German Classical And...
There is an ongoing debate in literary circles whether Johann Wolfgang von Goethe s works
should be considered German Classical or European Romanticism. Complicating matters are
statements by Goethe such as his infamous statement The Classical I call healthy and the
Romantic sick . . . Most of the new poetry is not Romantic because it is new, but it is because it
is weak, sickly, and ill, and the old is not Classical because it is old, but because it is strong, fresh,
cheerful, and healthy. (Conversations with Eckerman, April 2, 1829). Works such as Faust by
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe(Part I 1808, Part II 1832) complicate classifications even further as
this masterpiece is in two separate sections, composed years apart, with some categorizing the Part
I and Part II differently. However, Faust, Part I, does have many elements, such as spiritual growth
and topics and characters of the supernatural, that match the European Romanticismphilosophies.
Faust had gained a great wealth of knowledge studying various subjects that require rational and
scientific thought processes and yet, he is no longer satisfied with the world in which he lives.
Upon realizing something is missing that he cannot gain through his traditional academic studies,
he strives to gain knowledge of the spiritual world and the mysteries they hold. The era of
Romanticism entails a core belief that spiritual growth is essential and would allow people to
evolve and increase their human potential. Moreover,

Grief Counseling Research Paper
GRIEF COUNSELING IN A GROUP SETTING5
Interpersonal Counseling
Interpersonal Counseling in a group setting helps initiate the mourning process and encourages the
grieving individual to regain interests and re establish relationships (MacNair‐Semands, 2004).
Interpersonal group counselors encourage college students to discuss the events surrounding their
loss. In doing so, college students are allowed the opportunity to reflect on their feelings connected
to their loss and deal with their loss. Additionally, interpersonal group counselingallows the college
students to examine the relationships I their lives. This technique allows the college student to see
how grief may be negatively affecting their current relationships and find ways to maintain positive
relationships. The ultimate goal of interpersonal group counseling is to establish stability for the
college student and encourage them to focus on their present and what steps they can take to
enhance their lives, now. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The purpose of psychodynamic group counseling is to help college students acknowledge and
understanding unresolved conflict, which may be contributing to their prolonged periods of grief
(Kipnes, et al., 2002). Psychodynamic group counseling provides the support needed for college
students to resolve conflict and manage their emotions (Piper, et al., 2001). Counselors achieve
this goal by creating an environment that allows college students to deal with their present
experiences of loss by providing a reward system for the college students efforts to cope with loss
(Ogrodniczuk, et al., 2003). Therefore, group counseling is beneficial for dealing with grief.

What Is The Difference Between Congress And Us Elections
The legislature in the U.S. and the U.K. differ in some pretty important ways. First, in regards to
Parliament, the entire legislature is dissolved at least once every five years, and new elections
are held for every seat. In the United States, Representatives and Senators are elected based on
term lengths instead. Second, in the UK, the House of Commons is mostly the only house in
Parliament that gets elected directly by the people. This is different from Congress because, in the
US, both the House and the Senate are elected. The Legislative process itself also differs markedly
between Congress and Parliament. In the U.S, legislation must pass in the same form through both
houses of Congress before it can be sent to the President s desk. Either... Show more content on

This is probably due to the fact that the House of Commons is the one that the people show up to
vote for. Currently there are 650 members of the House of Commons (). Elections for these seats
are held based on something called constituencies. These are based on geographical features,
local government boundaries, land area and population ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 5). The
average population of a constituency is about 68,500 people ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 5).
These seats are all vacated at least once every five years, and new elections are held to fill them.
Interestingly, elections in the United Kingdom tend to be a very different type of event than the
elections we are used to here in the states. General election campaigns typically only last about
three weeks ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 6) The amount of money that parties can spend on
elections is restricted based on the number of candidates it puts up, and currently sits at 19.77
million for a party that contests all the seats in the House of Commons ( Parliamentary Elections
2007, 6). Paid political advertising on both radio and television is not allowed, and television
coverage of elections is required to be impartial ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 6). This is a vastly
different political atmosphere than the one we are used to in the United States, where elections are
huge events that result in the spending of billions of dollars in a particular election cycle ( Election,

Oppression And Its Effect On Social And Economic Justice
Oppression is the use of power to dis empower, marginalize, silence or otherwise subordinate one
social group or category, often in order to further empower and/or privilege the oppressor. The
purpose for this article is to show how social workers are to avoid unintended collusion with
pervasive oppressive systems and if they are to be successful in promoting social and economic
justice, a firm grasp of the nature of oppression with its dynamics of power and its systemic
character is required. The concept of oppression is presented here, followed by discussion of its
dynamics and common elements and the need for social workers to engage in anti oppressive
practice in order to expose and oppose oppressive relationships and systemic power arrangements.
The group that I believe is one of the most at risks groups to suffer from many various forms of
oppression. Despite the decades that have passed since the beginning of the civil rights movement,
racismis still a major issue in America. We still see organized hate groups, news stories of racial
slurs and attacks, and examples that we observe in our everyday lives. So, what should social
workers and the profession as a whole do about it. This group is at risk because of the persistent
and perennial challenges faced by African Americans is that of cultural oppression. Although the
effects of oppression on African Americans have received enormous attention, much of the focus
has been on political and economic oppression as the

The Theory Of General Relativity
No matter when we consider the beginning of time, there will always be the question of origin. And
before then what? The origin of the universe remains a mystery, but extrapolation from current
working models can be used to speculate about the universe s early development. The leading
theory on the early development of the universeis the Big Bangtheory, which puts forth the idea
that the universe expanded from a singularity, or a single point.[1] The Big Bang laid the seeds
that lead to the development of planets that support life. Like the lifespan of a star, the duration of
the universe may also be finite. This finite duration is a shared property of stars, life and even the
universe. The Theory of General... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We know nothing of this time, but we make projections based on current modeling. The leading
theory on the birth of the universe is called the Big Bang theory. The Big Bang model described
our current understanding of the universe. In the Big Bang theory, the universe was at one time a
single point of mass and energy.[1] In this singularity, the universe was inconceivably dense and
hot. In this inconceivably hot and small universe, classical mechanics are thought to break down
and the four fundamental forces (weak force, strong force, gravitation and electromagnetism) are
thought to have been unified. Our understanding of this period of the universe s existence is
limited. The Planck Epoch represents the time from zero seconds to 1.35x10 43 seconds, or one
Planck time.[4] This time is how long it takes light to travel one Planck length, which is
approximately 1.6x10 35 meters. The universe, expanding from a singularity, had not yet reached
the size of a Planck length. Phenomena at Planck size are described by quantum mechanics. As the

Jacqueline Wilson Is The Most Important Moment In Life
Life is nothing without ups and downs. They make it abundantly rich. While growing up in the
United Kingdom and then moving to Canada, I encountered many problems that shaped me into
the beautiful young woman I am today. With the help of my family, peers, and teachers, I was able
to overcome troubling occurrences with ease. Even though all the events taught me something in a
way, three of them in particular stood out to me. Meeting Jacqueline Wilson, the lossof my best
friend, and the death of my grandfather were, and always will be, the most important moments in
my life.
Many people in my life come and go, but only a few can provide inspiration I need to become the
best version of myself. One of these people happened to be Jacqueline Wilson, an English writer of
children s literature. Although I have never met her in real life, I have met her in the sense that her
books reveal so much of herself. Her books dealt with many controversial topics, such as
adoption, divorce, and mental illnesses. These were topics I normally brushed aside, but she made
me change my way of thinking. I used to think that I couldn t do anything to help people with
problems like these. After reading her books, however, I realized that it doesn t matter how much
or how little you contribute. She inspired me to help others with problems and mental illnesses and
promoted that small inputs are still significant. She was the one made me believe that I can make a
difference. With her expertise,

Comparison Of Socrates And The Ox-Bow Incident
The book The Trial and Death of Socrates and the movie The Ox Bow Incident were stories that
resulted in the death of the innocent. In The Trial and Death of Socrates, Socrates is sentenced to
death on the charge of corrupting the youth by a democratic trial. This took place in 399 BC in
Athens. This is an account of the philosopher s death written by his student, Plato. In The Ox Bow
Incident, three men are hanged by a mob for the murder of a man. The story takes place in the
American West during the 1940s. The film was directed by William A. Wellman. In both these
tragedies there is an unfair judgement by a mob, the innocent failing to persuade their accusers of
their innocence, and the force of peer pressure. The biggest similarity between the Ox bow three
and Socratesis that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Socrates was poisoned and the others were hanged. This wasn t the result of poor persuasion, but
their efforts did both fail. The men failed because the mob didn t want to consider that the men
could possibly be innocent. The majority of both mobs refused to look over any evidence that
proved the men were not guilty. Socrates was a known trouble maker, but he did not hurt
anyone. The worst Socrates did was annoy the officials, and this resulted in the ending of his
life. He stood up in front of the crowd and explained exactly why he shouldn t receive the death
penalty, but the majority of them did not pay attention to his reasoning. Ignoring the evidence was
easier at Ox Bow. There was evidence against them. They had the man s gun, the man s cattle with
no bill of sell, a motive of cow rustling, and they didn t have an alibi. With all this evidence, it was
extremely easy to overlook the fact that they didn t know that the man was dead. They acted on the
words of someone who thought he had heard someone say that the man had been murdered in a
ditch. The messenger had probably heard that the man had been shot and assumed that meant he was

THE ACCOUNTING REVIEW Vol. 77 Supplement 2002 pp. 175 202 Evidence from Auditors

Cornell University Robin L. Tarpley The George Washington University ABSTRACT: This paper
reports analyses of data obtained using a п¬Ѓeld based questionnaire in which 253 auditors from
one Big 5 firm recalled and described 515 specific experiences they had with clients who they
believe were attempting to manage earnings. This approach enables us to analyze separately
managers decisions about how to attempt earnings management and auditors decisions about
whether to prevent earnings management by requiring adjustment of the п¬Ѓnancial statements.

Auditors are required by GAAS to understand their clients incentives and to search for differences
between actual and expected performance that may indicate misstatements, so the auditors who
participated in our study were relatively well positioned to identify specific instances of earnings
management. Because respondents provided transaction level data about attempts covering a range
of п¬Ѓnancial accounting transactions, including attempts that are purely judgmental as well as
attempts that involve transaction structuring, these data allow us to examine how attempts are
affected by the precision of п¬Ѓnancial accounting standards2 and by other characteristics of
attempts. Unlike studies that focus on only postaudit information, we consider separately managers
decisions about how to attempt earnings management and auditors decisions about whether to
require adjustments.3 Thus, our study provides evidence about how a key feature of accounting
standards (precision of rules) and a key feature of the п¬Ѓnancial reporting process (activity of
external auditors) influence earnings management. Results of descriptive analyses indicate that
the earnings management attempts in our sample occurred in numerous accounting areas, including
revenue recognition, business combinations, intangibles, п¬Ѓxed assets, investments and leases, but
by far the most frequently identified attempts involve reserves. Respondents believe that
managers attempts were motivated

Holling s The Wednesday Wars
During the novel The Wednesday Wars, Holling changed a lot during his 7th grade year. He had
many great influences to make him do so. I have three main influences I think made him do so.
Mrs. Baker, Shakespeare, and his sister Heather. My first influence is Mrs. Baker, she is his
favorite teacher, although he didn t always like her. She taught him to like Shakespeare, and take
in everything about his life and how he is special. She is always there for him and has nothing
bad to say to him. She was like a mother to him. Mrs. Baker teaches him how to run properly, like

During the early 20th century our great nation established an amendment, due to a national
temperance movement, many believed would reduce recklessness, destructive behavior, social
issues, improve the health of America, etc. The 18th amendment brought an era of Prohibition
which led to a dramatic decrease on alcohol related deaths, however it led to organized secret crimes
and the country ratified the amendment with the 21st amendment. Also prominently during this
time women were changing to the independent and sexy life style thus being persuaded by tobacco
companies on how smoking makes them thinner and empowered. Nevertheless throughout the 20th

Alcohol and tobacco advertisements are created to encounter a certain demographic. Billions of
dollars are spent on advertisements to make sure their product is being sold. An estimated $15
billion is spent each year on tobacco advertising, to drag people in by spreading a message that
people who smoke tobacco are rich and successful people fulfilled with a glamorous life (Walsh).
Both advertisements are aiming for younger crowds because they know that the younger they get
addicted to the product the more they will use it through out their lives. Advertisements play a
big role when it comes to reaching younger crowds and they do this by using relatable things like
celebrities, using younger actors in their commercials, showing how if you use the product you
can have a good time, etc. When a realtor, a car salesman, insurance company, or any one who is
trying to sell you something knows that if you can connect with someone emotionally they are
more likely to agree with you or move forward with the sell because when you connect with
someone on an emotional stand point what that person hears connects them with that memory or
feeling that follows it, and it makes it rememberable. Also, Researchers found that young people

also needed to know if my wanting to become a deacon was of God or was it to please my dad.

was offered to me. It isn t something I take lightly. This blessing, and it is a blessing, was given
to me to honor God, support my pastor and this church body, help those in need; and also, so that I

Sexual Assaults On Campus Campuses
Most college campuses have no reports of sexual assaults on campus. This statistic is very
inaccurate. The current statistics are that 9% of campuses report that rapes have happened on
campus and the other 91% state that there has never been a rape on or around campus. Those
estimated numbers seem hard to believe. Especially with cases such as the victim of the Stanford
Rapist Brock Turner .
After a year of practically living in hell. Turner s victim had to face him in court on trial. Turner
and his defendant team tried to minimize the seriousness of the situation by stating that the accused
and the victim were under the influence of alcohol. Turner alleged could not be responsibility for
his actions because of the accused state of confusion to whether it was content or not. A year after
his original testimony Turner went on to say that it was indeed consensual and that the victim
enjoyed it.
The victim asked to give a statement directionally to her accuser. In this statement she described the
events that lead up to the assault. The victim s sister was home from school for the weekend and
they were having dinner with their parents. The sister had plans to attend a frat party with her
friends, however , the woman originally was going to stay home and watch tv. The plans changed
when she had decided to go along seeing her sister was home and she wanted to enjoy time with
her. On the way to the party the victim made jokes about being the oldest person at the party, once

Mussolini s rise to power
How far do you agree, that the Bienno Rosso was the most important reason for Mussolini and
Fascism s rise to power in Italy, 1919 22?
Mussolini and the fascists managed to rise to power and take control of Italy in 1922. Mussolini
s rise to power took place mainly due to a combination of conditions that characterized the liberal
Italian state, which existed before his take over. The main factors that led to Mussolini s rise to
power were the impact of the First World War, the weaknesses of the Risorgimento, the Biennio
Rosso , the elite s support for the Fascist Party, and the March on Rome. All of these factors
contributed to Mussolini and the fascist s rise to power.

Catholic Church supporters and they all had different views and opposed each other. When
Giolitti was in power he tried to win over all the key groups in order for them to accept and
support the liberal state, however he was unable to do so because in trying to please one section he
would end up alienating the other.
During the years of the liberal system the development of industry in the North led to the founding
of trade unions and cooperative organizations, which then resulted in a significant growth of
socialism.
The First World War had started reinforcing nationalism, and a desire of great achievements and
glory for the nation. These sudden nationalist beliefs created among the Italians of the Risorgimento
were made stronger by the fear of a possible socialist revolution. The conditions of growing industry
of the Risorgimento had caused the growth of the socialist movement, which then helped Mussolini
gain power due to his anti communist beliefs.
As a result of how Italy was created but not fully unified, the new Italian state suffered from a
variety of weaknesses which the new liberal state was unable to tackle these. This made Italy
susceptible to the appeal of fascism, and therefore aided Mussolini s rise to power.
Another reason that led to Mussolini s rise to power was the Biennio Rosso which took place in
the years

The Benefits Of Kundalini Yoga
Introduction
Kundalini Yoga is an indispensable aspect of the Aquarian Teacher program in the sense that it is a
science as well as a technology that assists candidates to develop comprehensively in their
endeavors to become Kundalini Yoga instructors. Taught principally by Yogi Bhajan, the science
focuses exhaustively on yoga traditions that harness the nervous and psychological as well as the
physical energy of the entire human anatomy. This is because Kundalini Yoga combines breathing
practices, chant, and meditation, together with physical exercises. The results of a research
conducted by Arambula, Peper, Kawakami, and Gibney (2001) affirm this as they reveal that a
considerable correlation exists between yogic meditation practices and human physiology. In other
words, Kundalini Yoga is a communicational science that incorporates all yoga limbs into a
remarkable practice of delight and excellence at the highest level of self consciousness. The
accounts above only provide a gist what Kundalini Yoga entails. For this cause, purpose oriented
research is carried out to assist in comprehending the concepts surrounding this mystical practice in

Assassination Of The Post War 20th Century
He was shot on 22 November 1963, while travelling with his wife through Dallas, Texas, in the
back of an open top convertible.Lee Harvey Oswald opened fire as the presidential motorcade
passed the Texas School Book Depository at 12.30pm and the president was pronounced dead at
Dallas s Parkland Hospital 30 minutes later. The assassination became a defining event of the post
war 20th century, but a lack of clarity over the precise circumstances, together with the fact his
assassin was himself murdered two days later, have led to a host of conspiracy theories over who

It s just one reason why conspiracy theorists think more than one shooter was involved.
The Grassy Knoll: Most JFK conspiracy theories pivot around the idea that Oswald wasn t acting
alone. When the president was hit by the bullet that killed him, the motorcade was passing a grassy
knoll on the north side of Elm Street. Newspaper photographs record that shortly after the shooting,
police arrested three tramps found in a railroad car behind the knoll. Because the men were clean
shaven and well dressed there was speculation that they were CIA assassins rather than hobos.
The Long List of Culprits: If Oswald was a paid assassin rather than a disaffected loner, who was
writing his pay cheques? The list of candidates is long, but some names are put forward more
than most. They are:The CIA: The idea that the assassination was a CIA plot sounds bizarre, but
conspiracy theorists suggest the president s alleged comment that he wanted to splinter the CIA
into a thousand pieces and scatter it to the winds made him an agency target. Other theories
suggest that one of the tramps (see above) was E Howard Hunt, a former CIA operative who was
involved in the ill fated Bay of Pigs operation to oust Cuban leader Fidel Castro.
The Mafia: Why would the mafia want JFK dead? Because his brother, Robert, was turning up the

Abstract
Calveta Dining Services, Inc. was a $2 billion, privately held firm that provided food services to
almost 1000 senior living facilities (SLF s) in the United States. Antonio Calveta, the founder of
Calveta Dining retired in 2007 after 35 years of leadership and he named his eldest son Frank as
the new CEO and told him to double the company s revenues within a space of 5 years. The
dilemma that Frank was facing was that even after 2 years into this job of his he did not have
any credible strategies to fulfill his father s promise or to attain aggressive growth as his father
wanted. Calveta Dining Services owed its success to Antonio Calveta s passion for food, traditional

Interpretation
The interpretation that can be derived from the above analysis is that it would be better for Frank
to think about diversifying the business rather than acquiring GSD. Even Frank knew that it was a
huge risk to acquire GSD considering the heavy debt the business would be in after the acquisition,
besides Calveta Dining would find it difficult to train GSD employees to the work culture of
Calveta Dining. Frank should not make this decision only with the purpose of meeting his father s
goal because this may harm the firm in the long run. Frank had his own problems organizational
restructuring to do for Calveta Dining and in such a circumstance if Frank acquired GSD then his
problem woul grow from bad to worse because it would not be an easy task to change the entire
work culture of GSD within a short span of time, and apart from the debts of acquiring GSD Frank
would also need to generate funds for the training of the staff teaching them Antonio s way. The

Fall Of Communism In Eastern Europe
Karl Marx came up with the idea of communism. Communism is a political system in which
everyone is equal, it is characterised by the absence of social class and money, and the state. The
main reason for the fall of communism (1989) in Eastern Europe would be due to its wide ethnicity,
and due to the people with in the countries not accepting one another. Eastern Europeis made of 21
countries, each having a different culture. Some of these countries are Bosnia and Herzegovina,
Russia, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Albania, Kosovo, Ukraine and Serbia. Most
of these countries have a different language and religion. Bosnia is located in South Eastern Europe,

If one was to be a communist they would not be able to practice religion. Communism is against
religion and its ways Religion and communism are incompatible, both theoretically and
practically. Having Eastern Europe with that many religious groups made it impossible for
them to achieve communism. There was once an somewhat of well established communist state
in Eastern Europe, it was not fully communistic due to most people seeing it as transitioning to a
socialist party. Yugoslavia was a communist state, it was around from 1945 1980. While
Yugoslavia existed most of its firms were co operatively operated. The problem with Yugoslavia
is that it lasted while Tito (Communist leader) lasted, once Tito died so did Yugoslavia. Tito was
sought as a great leader one of the last great WWII leaders. It seems as he was only able to keep
everything in place due to his great ties with the west (United States of America), and the major
support and love from the civilians of Yugoslavia. Tito is seen as a great leader but he neglected to
create strong ties with in the united countries. He did not encourage students to study outside their
republics. This had created a week bond between the countries. Once he died it was obvious that
there was going to be a split, Tito might of have held the countries together but did not bring the
people of different ethnicities together. If Yugoslavia was not created because of the after math of
WWII, but instead created due to people wanting to create a better nation in which communism is a
reality everything would be different. When talking about the unification of Yugoslavia mostly

How William Shakespeare And Carol Ann Duffy s Subverting...

T.S Eliot Prize Essay

How do William Shakespeare and Carol Ann Duffy subvert traditional roles of gender and
sexuality in From Mrs Tiresias and Sonnet 20 ?
Both Carol Ann Duffy in From Mrs Tiresias and William Shakespeare in Sonnet 20 subvert male
gender roles by presenting the male protagonists with physical female traits. Both poets differ in
their presentation of traditional gender roles and sexuality.
In From Mrs Tiresias , Carol Ann Duffy subverts the gender roleof men as strong masculine men,
playing on the modern stereotype that men are unable to cope with the monthly trials and
tribulations of being a woman. She tells us that he had to have One week in bed. Two doctors in.

Shakespeare has a highly misogynistic view of women, saying that their hearts are acquainted
With shifting change , their eyes are false in rolling and he also talks about women being false
implying deceit and an artificial façade. At the culmination of the rhyming couplet, Shakespeare
comically tops his damning excoriation of women by telling us that thy love s use their treasure ,
insinuating that women just want one little thing rather than a soul to love endlessly. This is not
subverting the traditional Elizabethan stereotype of women. By contrast, Duffy subverts these
gender roles of women by highlighting that men can also act up to Shakespeare s Elizabethan
stereotype, just like Mr Tiresias is seen doing in From Mrs Tiresias . He is metaphorically
prostituting himself; he is seen entering glitzy restaurants on the arms of [multiple] powerful men
and while we are sure this is not for sexual advances, Duffy highlights the superficial nature of Mr
Tiresias quest for notoriety. We have a complete juxtaposition between each poet and the
reinforcement of gender stereotypes of the gender opposite their own; Shakespeare is renouncing
women and thus highlighting the loyalty and dependability of men by using the pitfalls of women
to celebrate the qualities of the Fair Youth i.e the man he is revering by contrast, whereas Duffy is
repudiating men and accentuating the patience, kindness and supportiveness of women (Mrs

Cinematic Codes in Moulin Rouge Essay
Cinematic Codes in Moulin Rouge
All four cinematic codes work together in a film to inform the audience s understanding of a film
and to convey meaning and the ideology in a preferred reading favoured by the film maker so that
the audience interprets the film in the way intended. In the film Moulin Rouge (Luhrman, 2000,
US) the cinematic codes, mise en scene, sound, cinematography and editing all work well together
in the opening sequence to set up the film maker s preferred reading.
The film opens with a conductor on a stage in a grand theatre, signifying a show which links well
with the idea behind Moulin Rouge, informing the audience that it is like a show. The curtains

The music is loud and orchestral, immediately capturing the audience s attention; the tempo is
also quite slow to begin with. Suddenly changes to a song with a much faster tempo, The Can
Can. This song is also a famous one and helps inform the audience that the film is set in Paris. All
the way through this shot, the camera is slowly zooming in very slightly, and this camera
movement helps to draw the audience into the action. It stops when the stage frames the shot
perfectly. The song ends abruptly and as it does it links with the editing as Paris, 1900 appears on
the screen to inform the audience of the time and place it is set.
This shot then dissolves into a much darker shot, informing the audience that maybe this film isn t
about the celebration of love, and that something sinister is going to happen, the sound also links
well with this as it is quite melancholy, this song signifies to the audience that the story beginning to
unfold is a tragic one. The character singing is directly addressing the audience as he narrates the
story through song, and the contrast between the sound here and the sound in the previous shot is
extremely noticeable as it is much more depressing. It is known as parallel sounds as it matches the
action in the shot and emphasized by the morose characters and the shadowy lighting. The character
singing is placed in the corner of

Eduard Wirths As A Doctor
During World War II, death, experimentation, and being a Jewish person was a fear that all
people had to worry about in Nazi Germany from 1939 to 1945; particularly in concentration
camps. Eduard Wirths was both a hero and an anti hero towards his patients, depending on what
stance a person takes. Wirths was known to have a sympathetic side to him that was a saving
grace for many. However, the experimentation he allowed patients to suffer through in order to
gain success for his own research is what makes him a criminal Nazi doctor. As the lead SS
doctor for Auschwitz, Eduard Wirths main duty was to oversee all that went on within the
camps, and he approved work done by others such as Joseph Mengele. Eduard Wirths was a
dedicated party member, a competent physician, and a renowned Auschwitz enemy. Eduard
Wirths was a conscientious doctor with a confused set of morals that may have been a lot more
caring than an SS doctor should have been. Growing up, Eduard Wirths family was Catholic and
had a strong set of democratic socialist values. His father, who was a medical corpsman during
World War I, often expressed that Wirths shared the same work ethic

The Pros And Cons Of Quebec Nationalism
When you hear the term Quebec Nationalism, what do you think of? A province that has a distinct
language and culture, or one that wishes to separate from Canada, or both? The issue I would like
to talk about is Quebec nationalism, is it compatible or incompatible with a pan Canadian
nationalism, or multiculturalism and should they or should they not separate from Canada. In my
opinion, while not experiencing French Canadianlife, although another of my family members has,
I feel that QuebecNationalism is not compatible with the rest of Canada, but we are the only thing
they have, and if Canada lets them go, they will not have enough resources politically, monetarily,
or military, since most of this is supplied to Quebec from the rest of Canada. Since Quebec s
defeat in the Rebellion of 1837, many Quebecois feel that they have been subject to Anglophone
domination from the rest of Canada (Lamrick, 2015). Many of the French speaking citizens are also
not willing to be compatible with the rest of Canada s multicultural society. There is no reason,
though, to throw all the other willing French Canadians that want to be compatible under the bus....

The Problem Of The Homelessness
Every time I go to Bathurst Street in order to see my orthodontist, I always encounter those who
are on the street and less fortunate then I am. There is an estimated 5200 homeless living in the
city. This amount doesn t even take into account the hidden homeless that need long term housing.
Homelessness in the city of Toronto costs the provincial government approximately 30 billion
dollars a year. I have at times wondered why haven t we as a society taken the steps to end
homelessnessin Toronto? I mean it s a very simple question that can be answered with economic
reasoning. To put it simply: it is unrealistic to end homelessness in Toronto. To help me reach this
conclusion I went on a couple of websites to do some research, as well as used some of the core
economic principles to reach my conclusion.
Several studies have found that it costs three to four times more to leave someone on the street
than to give them a home with support services. This is due to the tendency for those to go in
and out of shelters, the hospital bills for those with no money, as well as incarceration for
violations such as squeegeeing and panhandling. A reasonable person would look at this and say
Instead of giving up 30 billion every year to fund the continuation of homelessness in the city, why
not invest in affordable public housing and shelters to decrease the amount of money you will
spend? Homelessness in the city continues for two reasons that I will discuss in this paper. The first

The first case was the physical result of the Treaty. Germany suffered a major territorial loss, for

The second case is about the economic impact of the Treaty. The Treaty of Versaillescriticized

who invaded our land, that our lands belong to them; henceforth we are to be moved to new land,

The And Hydroponics Will Change The World Produces Food
Aquaponics and hydroponics will change the way the world produces food. By 2050 the world
population is expected to exceed 9 Billion people. With an increasing population and decreasing
farm land, the world is beginning to face a serious problem in food production. Not only is the
quantity of food produced in jeopardy, the quality and variety are declining as well. Four types of
plants provide more than half the plant based calories wheat, maize, rice, and potatoes.
Additionally, 90% of the animal based protein consumed comes from only a dozen different
species. What is the answer to producing quality food at a quantity to sustain the world?
Biodiversity. Biodiversity, the interaction between different eco systems, has been shown to
produce more and healthier food. Traditionally the answer to feeding a quickly growing world has
been to over fertilize, use genetic modification, and ban the production of crops for use as biofuel.
Unfortunately, there has been very little priority placed on developing biodiversity as a means of
sustainability. The research that has been done on biodiversity, such as aquaponicsand hydroponics,
has shown that high quality food can be produced quicker and with less resources than traditional
growing. Aquaponics is the process of integrating aquaculture, fish farming, with hydroponics,
growing plants in water. Since use of unnatural products such as chemicals, pesticides, and
herbicides could potentially harm either the fish or the plans,

Jim Crow Research Paper
The name Jim Crow was the name of a character created in 1836 by a white American performer.
He dressed up in ill fitting, tattered garments of a beggar, and used burned cork to blacken his
face, playing the part of a stereotypical African American in order to entertain white audiences
(Litwack 1998, xiv). The name came to describe the subordination and separation of black peoplein
the South as well as laws approved by the government at a state and local level, that enforced
racial segregation and allowed for the oppression of blacks in order to stop them from gaining
their freedom after the 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery, was enacted (Litwack 1998, xiv

Racial stereotyping often crossed over into subjective decision making processes such as the
courts, and it often resulted in devastating consequences (Alexander 2012, 4). The courts would
often fail to uphold the law and give whites and blacks unequal punishment. Many times African
Americans would take whites to court to dispute situations but the courts often overturned their
decision and ruled in favor of the white party. After refusing to move to the Jim Crow section on
a train after paying full price for a ticket, Ida B. Wells was put off the train and walks home.
Later she takes the train company to court where at first she won, but later the court overturned
the ruling. Ida B. Wells responded by writing, tell my people to flee, there is no justice here (The
Rise and Fall of Jim Crow 2002, Part 1). It was also the norm some crimes that were committed by
one race not to be punishable when committed by the other race. If s white man were found
guilty of adultery or bigamy, he might have to serve from 3 10 years in the penitentiary, but
authorities were apt to ignore such a crime when committed by a black person, dismissing it as a
racial defect (Litwack 1998, 259). A white man could also be convicted of a crime and receive a
very light sentence and a black man who was convicted of the same crime would receive a very
heavy and unjust sentence. It is only possible for the white race to prove its own incontestable
superiority by appointing both judge and jury and summoning its own witnesses (Du Bois 1998,
32). During Jim Crow the court system often did this. This is why blacks could be convicted of the
same crimes that whites committed and sentenced to jail for several years while the white man

Diagnostic Criteria For ASD
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that is characterised by
impairments in social communication, repetitive or stereotypical behaviours, and limited range of
interests (Anagnoustou et al. 2014). These symptoms are often evident from early childhood and
vary between individuals in their severity and influence on everyday functioning. This continuum
of symptoms of ASD is reflected in the latest edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of
Mental Disorders (DSM 5), a revision from previous diagnostic criteria in the DSM IV, which
identified four separate disorders in association with autismrelated symptoms (DSM5, 2013).
Another important aspect of the new DSM 5 diagnostic criteria for ASD is the condition... Show

Evidently, there is a scarcity in the availability of ASD specialised intervention programs
specifically for infants and toddlers younger than two years. One such proposed intervention
currently in progress is the Early Start Denver Model (Dawson Rogers, 2008) that aims to
address the distinctive requirements of children with ASD from as early as 12 months. The
program utilises a combination of an ABA approach along with a developmental and relationship
based approach that is then delivered in the child s natural environment. A recent randomised
controlled trial of the Early Start Denver Model in a sample of 48 children aged 18 30 months in
age revealed that children showed improvements in IQ and adaptive skills (Brookman Frazee,
2010). However, as the program is relatively new further research is required to fully infer efficacy

Rock Crystal Sphere on a Stand with Dragons. 1868 1912. Rock crystal, bronze, silvering, and

Immigration For Immigrants
Moving to a new place you have never been before is hard. You don t know anybody or where
anything is, it is a whole new world. This can be experienced by every immigrant coming to
America. The United States is the number one country when it comes to immigrant population.
According to Politifact, the US Department of Homeland Security has gathered data of
immigrants coming to the U.S and in 2013 it was 990,553. These immigrants have special laws
though, laws made for immigrants alone and not everyday people. They should have the same
rights as everybody else has.We have the right from the constitution to have the choice to choose
our own language, religion, and beliefs. Immigrants should have the choice to choose how far they
would like to assimilate into American culture, so that they may feel comfortable. Immigrants that
want to learn English should be given the opportunity to learn. In the argumentative essay , Why
Make Unnecessary Demands, by Jacob Stokes where a man argues for immigrants to be required
to learn English an article that he argues that, Many Immigrants who desire to learn English are
already struggling for a chance to do so. Cities across the U.S. are experiencing severe shortages of
English teachers, leaving lines of would be English speakers waiting outside their doors. The
Immigrants who want to learn English to better themselves don t have the opportunity to learn
because of lack of resources. Learning English, to these immigrants, can help

The events of December 7th1941 on Pearl Harbor are ones that along with many others will
forever remain written down as a historic day in not just in history but in naval and military
history as well. In this essay I will first explain and describe the Pearl Harbor attack. I will do that
in the perspective of a male veteran who at the time was stationed at Pearl Harbor as a U.S.
Navy cadet describing the events of that topic to a news anchor for a local newspaper. I also
explain what happened after the attack and explain if there was any possible way to prevent it.
Next, I will transition to playing the role of the news anchor and describe the events of September
11th 2001. I will interview a person who survived that terrorist attack and... Show more content on

Within Five minutes of the attack U.S. military officials had started attacking back at the
Japanese. (Pearl Harbor Film) We were at a disadvantage because the Japanese had destroyed
many of many of our battle ships. But we were not going to let that stop us. We were not going
to give up, just fight until the end. After two hours of fighting long and hard the damaged was
done and the Japanese retreated. In the end we were left with 2,042 casualties and 1,247
wounded (Wikipedia) and defeated. NEWS ANCHOR: Mr. Hankins can you please describe
what happened after the attack was over? NAVY VETERAN: Exactly one day after the attack
the military had regained somewhat of a control over Pearl Harbor. We were already close to
freeing soldiers stuck in turned over ships and wrecked vessels and had the island surrounded by
barbed wire. After a couple of days the a sense of normalcy returned to Pearl Harbor but mainly
everyone was a little paranoid about the unexpected and what could happen at any moment. The
U.S. was also very angry that they had been defeated and wanted revenge. In no time congress
formally declared War on Japan. This war was known as World War Two. It is writing down in
history as one of the most deadly wars of all times. This time the U.S. proved there would be no
chance in hell they would be defeated again. The U.S. invaded Japan and showed no mercy,
attacking them with all their might. The Japanese were

The Pros And Cons Of Digital Disruption
Disruption? You might initially think negatively about this word. Digital disruption is a
development produced by emerging digital technologies and business models (Oxford College of
Marketing Blog, 2017). This change impacts people in this decade to have a better living.
Lifestyles and work have been changed by the new, potential technology. Besides, the advantages
are the increasing of productivity, improved work health and safety and new products and services;
all of which have been elevating our living standards through innovative businessmodels. However,
the most awareness thing to be considered by marketers is that Digitalis coming and it s coming
fast and Digital will disrupt your industry (Freek V., 2017). This is why the term disruption is used
because the emergence of these new digital business models is disrupting the existing markets. In
fact, this single word is warning us.
Why should we be concerned?
Capgemini Consultants established that since 2000, 52% of Fortune 500 companies have gone
bankrupt, been acquired or ceased trading, due, to some extent, to their inability to keep abreast of
the speed of digital transformation (Heck D., 2016). Kodak is one such example; it had declined
the opportunity in digital photography and subsequently this destroyed its film based business
model. Despite Kodak monopolized the photography markets for the majority of the 20th century, it
unexpectedly declared bankruptcy in 2012. However, digital disruption provides

  • 2. Case Study Of Nintendo s Pokemon Go Nintendo s market share and stock have both dramatically increased following the recent release of the new App Pokemon Go. In recent years, however, Nintendo had been falling behind competitors such as Microsoft and Sony, and sales for new products and games were not. Furthermore, the immediate success of Nintendos Pokemon Go could be the start of a wild turnaround for a company that has been struggling as sales of its most recent game console, the WiiU flopped due to fierce competition from rivals such as Microsoft s Xbox One and Sony s PlayStation 4. Nintendo s earnings took a huge hit as a result net income tanked around 60% in the most recent fiscal year. Pokemon Go has increased the market share of Nintendo through having a revolutionary gameplay, that involves various techniques of marketing, appealing to a large range of people. With recent technologies improving on the idea and practicality of virtual reality, Pokemon Go capitalizes on this thought and makes it a reality. By letting users catch Pokemon in physical settings, they no longer have to play through just a screen. Pokemon Go has done what no government program in the last decade has been able to do: encourage users to go out and exercise. Not only do users have to physically walk distances to evolve and hatch their Pokemon, but they also must be able to interact and socialize with other trainers. It is a multiplayer game that promotes teamwork, as well as social interaction. Nostalgia, coupled with revolutionary gaming technologies, has launched this age old game into a new era. • 3. Essay about Central Line Clinical Practice Guideline and... Central Line Clinical Practice Guideline Rational Central venous catheters (CVCs) are frequently used in intensive care units (ICUs) for a number of reasons (measure central venous pressure, when peripheral veins are unable to be accessed, administration of medications/therapies and aspiration of blood samples) (Conroy, 2006, p. 98). Patients in this environment already have an increased risk of infection because of their treatments. Patient treatments commonly involve invasive devices or interventions (major surgery), antibiotic therapy (raises the risk of bacterial resistance) while steroid, chemotherapy and radiation therapy all suppress the immune system (Hatler, Hebden, Kaler, Zack, 2010). NSWHealth (2005) found that 20 40%... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means aseptic technique and sterile gloves should be used for insertion and care of a CVC. Aseptic technique is critically important to protect patients from CLABSIs; infections are caused by either intrinsic (e.g. patients own flora) or extrinsic (e.g. surrounding environment) pathogens. Asepsis therefore removes patients skin flora and ensures flora picked up from either other patients or the surrounding environment is not introduced into the patient (Mollee et al., 2011). Raad et al. (1994) found in a randomised trial that CLABSIs were 6.3 times higher in a control group then those who had their CVC inserted under maximal barrier precautions (consisting of mask, cap, sterile gloves, gown, large drape). These findings were replicated by Abi‐Said et al. (1999) who also found that if strict aseptic techniques were adhered too during dressing changes, in addition to close monitoring of patients there was a decrease in bloodstream infection rates. As described above CLABSIs are more common when aseptic techniques at the time of insertion have not been observed. Contamination of catheters by skin flora at the time of insertion is one of the risks for developing a subsequent CLABSI. Therefore CVCs need to be replaced within 48hrs if asepsis cannot be guaranteed for insertion (LeMaster et al., 2010). For insertion and during care of a CVC ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Comparison Of Johann Wolfgang Von Goe German Classical And... There is an ongoing debate in literary circles whether Johann Wolfgang von Goethe s works should be considered German Classical or European Romanticism. Complicating matters are statements by Goethe such as his infamous statement The Classical I call healthy and the Romantic sick . . . Most of the new poetry is not Romantic because it is new, but it is because it is weak, sickly, and ill, and the old is not Classical because it is old, but because it is strong, fresh, cheerful, and healthy. (Conversations with Eckerman, April 2, 1829). Works such as Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe(Part I 1808, Part II 1832) complicate classifications even further as this masterpiece is in two separate sections, composed years apart, with some categorizing the Part I and Part II differently. However, Faust, Part I, does have many elements, such as spiritual growth and topics and characters of the supernatural, that match the European Romanticismphilosophies. Faust had gained a great wealth of knowledge studying various subjects that require rational and scientific thought processes and yet, he is no longer satisfied with the world in which he lives. Upon realizing something is missing that he cannot gain through his traditional academic studies, he strives to gain knowledge of the spiritual world and the mysteries they hold. The era of Romanticism entails a core belief that spiritual growth is essential and would allow people to evolve and increase their human potential. Moreover, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Grief Counseling Research Paper GRIEF COUNSELING IN A GROUP SETTING5 Interpersonal Counseling Interpersonal Counseling in a group setting helps initiate the mourning process and encourages the grieving individual to regain interests and re establish relationships (MacNair‐Semands, 2004). Interpersonal group counselors encourage college students to discuss the events surrounding their loss. In doing so, college students are allowed the opportunity to reflect on their feelings connected to their loss and deal with their loss. Additionally, interpersonal group counselingallows the college students to examine the relationships I their lives. This technique allows the college student to see how grief may be negatively affecting their current relationships and find ways to maintain positive relationships. • 6. What Is The Difference Between Congress And Us Elections The legislature in the U.S. and the U.K. differ in some pretty important ways. First, in regards to Parliament, the entire legislature is dissolved at least once every five years, and new elections are held for every seat. In the United States, Representatives and Senators are elected based on term lengths instead. Second, in the UK, the House of Commons is mostly the only house in Parliament that gets elected directly by the people. This is different from Congress because, in the US, both the House and the Senate are elected. The Legislative process itself also differs markedly between Congress and Parliament. In the U.S, legislation must pass in the same form through both houses of Congress before it can be sent to the President s desk. Either... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Elections for these seats are held based on something called constituencies. These are based on geographical features, local government boundaries, land area and population ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 5). The average population of a constituency is about 68,500 people ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 5). These seats are all vacated at least once every five years, and new elections are held to fill them. General election campaigns typically only last about three weeks ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 6) The amount of money that parties can spend on elections is restricted based on the number of candidates it puts up, and currently sits at 19.77 million for a party that contests all the seats in the House of Commons ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 6). Paid political advertising on both radio and television is not allowed, and television coverage of elections is required to be impartial ( Parliamentary Elections 2007, 6). Oppression And Its Effect On Social And Economic Justice Oppression is the use of power to dis empower, marginalize, silence or otherwise subordinate one social group or category, often in order to further empower and/or privilege the oppressor. The purpose for this article is to show how social workers are to avoid unintended collusion with pervasive oppressive systems and if they are to be successful in promoting social and economic justice, a firm grasp of the nature of oppression with its dynamics of power and its systemic character is required. The concept of oppression is presented here, followed by discussion of its dynamics and common elements and the need for social workers to engage in anti oppressive practice in order to expose and oppose oppressive relationships and systemic power arrangements. The group that I believe is one of the most at risks groups to suffer from many various forms of oppression. In this inconceivably hot and small universe, classical mechanics are thought to break down and the four fundamental forces (weak force, strong force, gravitation and electromagnetism) are thought to have been unified. In The Trial and Death of Socrates, Socrates is sentenced to death on the charge of corrupting the youth by a democratic trial. This took place in 399 BC in Athens. This is an account of the philosopher s death written by his student, Plato. In The Ox Bow Incident, three men are hanged by a mob for the murder of a man. The story takes place in the American West during the 1940s. The film was directed by William A. Wellman. This wasn t the result of poor persuasion, but their efforts did both fail. The men failed because the mob didn t want to consider that the men could possibly be innocent. The worst Socrates did was annoy the officials, and this resulted in the ending of his life. He stood up in front of the crowd and explained exactly why he shouldn t receive the death penalty, but the majority of them did not pay attention to his reasoning. Ignoring the evidence was easier at Ox Bow. There was evidence against them. They had the man s gun, the man s cattle with no bill of sell, a motive of cow rustling, and they didn t have an alibi. With all this evidence, it was extremely easy to overlook the fact that they didn t know that the man was dead. Auditors are required by GAAS to understand their clients incentives and to search for differences between actual and expected performance that may indicate misstatements, so the auditors who participated in our study were relatively well positioned to identify speciп¬Ѓc instances of earnings management. Because respondents provided transaction level data about attempts covering a range of п¬Ѓnancial accounting transactions, including attempts that are purely judgmental as well as attempts that involve transaction structuring, these data allow us to examine how attempts are affected by the precision of п¬Ѓnancial accounting standards2 and by other characteristics of attempts. Unlike studies that focus on only postaudit information, we consider separately managers decisions about how to attempt earnings management and auditors decisions about whether to require adjustments.3 Thus, our study provides evidence about how a key feature of accounting standards (precision of rules) and a key feature of the п¬Ѓnancial reporting process (activity of external auditors) influence earnings management. Results of descriptive analyses indicate that the earnings management attempts in our sample occurred in numerous accounting areas, including revenue recognition, business combinations, intangibles, п¬Ѓxed assets, investments and leases, but by far the most frequently identiп¬Ѓed attempts involve reserves. An estimated $15 billion is spent each year on tobacco advertising, to drag people in by spreading a message that people who smoke tobacco are rich and successful people fulfilled with a glamorous life (Walsh). Both advertisements are aiming for younger crowds because they know that the younger they get addicted to the product the more they will use it through out their lives. Advertisements play a big role when it comes to reaching younger crowds and they do this by using relatable things like celebrities, using younger actors in their commercials, showing how if you use the product you can have a good time, etc. When a realtor, a car salesman, insurance company, or any one who is trying to sell you something knows that if you can connect with someone emotionally they are more likely to agree with you or move forward with the sell because when you connect with someone on an emotional stand point what that person hears connects them with that memory or feeling that follows it, and it makes it rememberable. The results of a research conducted by Arambula, Peper, Kawakami, and Gibney (2001) affirm this as they reveal that a considerable correlation exists between yogic meditation practices and human physiology. In other words, Kundalini Yoga is a communicational science that incorporates all yoga limbs into a remarkable practice of delight and excellence at the highest level of self consciousness. Both Carol Ann Duffy in From Mrs Tiresias and William Shakespeare in Sonnet 20 subvert male gender roles by presenting the male protagonists with physical female traits. Both poets differ in their presentation of traditional gender roles and sexuality. Homelessness in the city of Toronto costs the provincial government approximately 30 billion dollars a year. I have at times wondered why haven t we as a society taken the steps to end homelessnessin Toronto? I mean it s a very simple question that can be answered with economic reasoning. To put it simply: it is unrealistic to end homelessness in Toronto. To help me reach this conclusion I went on a couple of websites to do some research, as well as used some of the core economic principles to reach my conclusion. Several studies have found that it costs three to four times more to leave someone on the street than to give them a home with support services. This is due to the tendency for those to go in and out of shelters, the hospital bills for those with no money, as well as incarceration for violations such as squeegeeing and panhandling. A reasonable person would look at this and say Instead of giving up 30 billion every year to fund the continuation of homelessness in the city, why not invest in affordable public housing and shelters to decrease the amount of money you will spend? By 2050 the world population is expected to exceed 9 Billion people. With an increasing population and decreasing farm land, the world is beginning to face a serious problem in food production. Not only is the quantity of food produced in jeopardy, the quality and variety are declining as well. Four types of plants provide more than half the plant based calories wheat, maize, rice, and potatoes. Additionally, 90% of the animal based protein consumed comes from only a dozen different species. What is the answer to producing quality food at a quantity to sustain the world? Biodiversity. Biodiversity, the interaction between different eco systems, has been shown to produce more and healthier food. Traditionally the answer to feeding a quickly growing world has been to over fertilize, use genetic modification, and ban the production of crops for use as biofuel. Unfortunately, there has been very little priority placed on developing biodiversity as a means of sustainability. The courts would often fail to uphold the law and give whites and blacks unequal punishment. Many times African Americans would take whites to court to dispute situations but the courts often overturned their decision and ruled in favor of the white party. After refusing to move to the Jim Crow section on a train after paying full price for a ticket, Ida B. Wells was put off the train and walks home. Later she takes the train company to court where at first she won, but later the court overturned the ruling. Ida B. Wells responded by writing, tell my people to flee, there is no justice here (The Rise and Fall of Jim Crow 2002, Part 1). It was also the norm some crimes that were committed by one race not to be punishable when committed by the other race. If s white man were found guilty of adultery or bigamy, he might have to serve from 3 10 years in the penitentiary, but authorities were apt to ignore such a crime when committed by a black person, dismissing it as a racial defect (Litwack 1998, 259). A white man could also be convicted of a crime and receive a very light sentence and a black man who was convicted of the same crime would receive a very heavy and unjust sentence. It is only possible for the white race to prove its own incontestable superiority by appointing both judge and jury and summoning its own witnesses (Du Bois 1998, 32). During Jim Crow the court system often did this.
