Monsanto s Lawsuits Analysis
Do you think it s fair that one farmer had to settle (say he was guilty) because that was cheaper
than trying to fight Monsanto s lawsuits? Why or why not? The fact that the farmer had to settle
because he couldn t afford fighting the lawsuit is extremely unfair. However, I don t think it is a
good decision. Even thought defeating Mansanto in court is almost impossible, settling and
saying that I m guilty is not an alternative if I were in his place. Not because I believe in justice,
but because I believe that our fight against this kind of big companies will not be easy, and if we
give up so easily from the beginning of the road we couldn t see the end of this dark tunnel soon.
When we give up, we are giving a sign to those companies to... Show more content on

The film mentioned that Group Danone bought Stonyfiels, Colgate bought Tom s of main etc....
Big companies can do anything that give them more money and less costs; and buying their new
youth concurrent is undoubtly profitable. In one hand their getting ride of a new concurrent in the
market. In the other hand they are ..... of their part in market, their consumers and even their
workers and their new innovations. Companies like Danone,Kellog, and Clorox wants to attract
the kind of consumer that is able to pay more money to buy healthier and cleaner products. I think
that is to still putting the name of the small companies in products made by new companies. In
addition I think if the consumer knows about that, they will probably change to other brand
because big companies are not trustable in consumers minds. The consumer knows very well that
big companies will not think twice about cheating in the product quality to make more profit.
Author Michael Pollan points out in the film that to eat well in this country costs more than to eat
badly. It will take more money and some people simply don t have it. And that s one of the
reasons that we need changes at the policy level so that the carrots are a better deal than the chips.
If healthful, environmentally sustainable food were to cost less than other food, do you think
people would eat more of it? Why do you think

The Impacts Of John Dalton And The Atomic Theory
John Dalton and the Atomic Theory John Dalton was an English chemist, meteorologist and
physicist. John Dalton was one of the first scientists to use homemade instruments to make weather
observations. He recorded over 20,000 weather observations over a period of 57 years,(Retrieved
from Infobase Learning). His fascination for the weather and atmosphere pursue him to research the
nature of gases, which in turn lead him to his biggest accomplishment. He built the atomic theory,
after two centuries, this theory still remain valid in the field of modern chemistry. John Daltonis
considered to be the father of modern atomic theory.
John Dalton Pursues Chemistry John Dalton a Quaker kid didn t receive a formal education in his

He considered that gases must be made up of particles that can somehow occupy spaces between
particles that make up water. Also, that in a mixture of gases the different particles must
intermingle rather than separate into layers depending on their density. Dalton performed
experiments to test and correct his atomic theory. As every scientist John Dalton makes mistakes.
He made a mistake in assuming that the simplest compound of two elements must be binary,
formed from atoms of each element in a 1:1 ratio. This postulate prevented his theory from being
accepted for many years. Many of the atomic weights were incorrect and later corrected. For
example, he said oxygen atomic weight was seven instead of eight. Although he committed little
mistakes, Dalton s theory provided a logical explanation of concepts, and led the way into new
fields of experimentation.

Types Of Communications And Establishing A Standard Format...
integrating the different cultures. It will come as no surprise the communication style at each of
the organizations need to be clearly identified. The two groups coming together could have very
different styles of communicating to not only staff but customers as well. One organization may
use electronic communicationmeans as the main way they communicate within the organization.
Maybe most of the communication is done via email instead of direct conversation. Where another
company may prefer having direct communication face to face or via the telephone. As you can see,
this could create a significant challenge for both organizations because as they merge they will
become frustrated or could even misinterpret an email whereas the staff that is meeting face to face
may feel neglected or ignored because they are not having direct interactions. Identifying the
different types of communications and establishing a standard format that meets the needs of the
employees without comprising the effectiveness of the message must be one of the first steps when
integrating multiple cultures. The second fundamental challenge is conflict resolution within
organizations. Just as each entity has its own way of communicating so are their approaches to
conflict resolution. For example, one group may work in environment where conflicts are dealt
with in a timely matter by addressing the issue with the particular party where in another group; the
conflict is handled

The Pros And Cons Of The Military Service
Although many people are familiar with the heroic conscientious objector, World War II American
Army Medic Desmond T. Doss, very few people are familiar with the names of recent
conscientious objectors. In fact, in an all volunteer force that exists in the United States military
today, some would be shocked to learn that about 60 members of the military still apply for to be a
conscientious objectoreach year. While numerous military members and United States civilians
agree that it is outrageous for a volunteer to the military to decide they cannot fight in a war they
enlisted to participate in, this does not fully encapsulate the issue at hand. The Military Service is
incentivized, offering a career, education, and life long benefits; thus, some will volunteer for
Military Service without deeply considering the ethics of service and their personal convictions;
moreover, the nature of war causes man to struggle with the morality after deployment, resulting in
a conviction arriving late into one s career. Therefore, when faced with unresolved conflict of
conscience, it is necessary for a military member to examine their moral beliefs in order to make an
ethical decision regarding whether to continue military participation.
When enlisting into any branch of the United States Armed Forces, there is plenty of documentation
to accompany it. In addition to the personal history, medical investigations, and physical readiness
testing, there are specific questions to ensure each

Security Guards And Armed Guards
Decades ago, many states did not have any hiring, screening, or training mandates for sworn
police officers. Today, nearly every state has some sort of police officer, armed guard or security
officer academy training and hiring regulations. There are almost twice as many security personnel
in the United States than there are police officers, so why are there not widely accepted training
standards for these personnel? This paper will attempt to explain the differences between Security
Guards and Armed Guards and their screening and hiring regulations.

such, there are quite a few variations of security guards in different areas of expertise.
In New York State, Security Guards are private citizens. According to the NYS Division of
Criminal Justice Services Website, [http://www.nyc.gov ] Interested parties must first complete a
required 8 Hour Pre Assignment Training Course. Upon completing this course, they will apply to
the Department of State for a Security Guard Registration Card. Upon receiving the card, they are
able to seek employment as a security guard. Once they establish employment, they are required to
attend a 16 Hour On the Job Training Course within 90 days of initial employment. Every year
thereafter, security guards must complete an 8 Hour Annual In service Training Course.
Private security Guards perform their functions according to the policies of their employers. The
company who hires a Security Guard outlines the tasks of the security Guard. As we know every
company culture is diverse, therefore, it is the responsibility of the security Guards to educate
themselves about the policies that are established by the company. Through continuous training,
Guards develop the skills necessary to interact and address the different incidents that will happen
during their time in a particular property.

In our day to day life the parts or a product that are used which are manufactured or derived from
another materials it is fundamental objectives for all the problems, and these parts are
manufactured by using some of the equipments.
The essential feature include,
пѓ The frequently asked question how was it made can be easily answered whenever a new thing

пѓ The ability to detect a problem and to define a suitable proposal to improve the performance of
the product can be gained.
пѓ The prototype of the newly built model can be analyzed before the actual size model can be
developed.

Clostridia Essay
The fermentation that occurs during the making of good silage focuses on the conversion of
carbohydrates from the plants anaerobically converted into lactic acid. This is an incredibly
simple process brought on by the homolactic Lactobacillus bacteria as the carbohydrates such as
glucose as converted into 2 molecules of pyruvate by glycolysis, which is then converted into 2
molecules of lactic acid; creating ATP and involving both the reduction of NAD+ for use in
glycolysis, but then also the oxidation of NADH to regenerate more NAD+ (Morton J S, 1980).
However, secondary fermentation can be taken by the Clostridia bacteria if the pH does not
increase fast enough, which convert the produced lactic acid into butyric acid, increasing the pH but

The two loosely packed silage s also indicated an increased production of Clostridia behaviour as
the pH was slightly higher from the conversion of lactate to butyrate, caused specifically by
Saccharolytic Clostridia (Muck R E 1988), and the high levels of Ammonia Nitrogen due to the
Clostridia consuming the amino acids and proteins and producing ammonia as the waste product.
This data suggests that this kikuyu grass barely entered the primary fermentation stage properly
due to the incredibly loose packing of the grass, therefore having a large surface area, and having a
constant supply of oxygen. As seen in figure 10., the Crude Protein (CP) percentage in the silage
of the immature and mature loosely packed kikuyu is also the most varied from the grass CP
(0.7% difference for the immature, 0.2% for the mature), further indicating the Clostridia growth
as the Proteolytic Clostridia (Muck R E 1988) consumed the protein and converted it to ammonia
during the fermentation, and therefore there is less protein available for the ruminants to digest
and absorb (Rasby R, Martin J, n.d). Although the two loosely packed silage s had a low butyric
acid percentage, the other factors indicated that this was the poorest silage when applying it to real
scenarios; the high ammonia and poor nutritional value makes this silage disastrous to feed to

Modernist literature appeared in the late 19th century, mostly in Europe and North America.
Modernism took place right after WWII and is classified by consciously trying to break away
from original styles of writing such as Romanticism and Realism and the other styles that
appeared before them. The modernist movement was driven by desire to talk about new things
and express the true feelings of the age the authors lived in. This was the reason why many
modernists wrote about World War. Modernism is one of the most important styles of writing
because it brought a completely new way of writing which allowed authors to write about
anything including profanity. As mentioned before, The Catcher in the Rye was one of the first
modernism books which talked about sexuality and profanity. Holden openly talks about his
sexual relations, which caused a lot of controversy within the readers. Because modernism was
only beginning to develop, society had to get used to new things. Modernist style of writing
nearly doesn t focus on describing the surroundings. It focuses on character s actions, character s
perception of things, moods. In The Catcher in the Rye, Salinger nearly doesn t focus on
describing anything except the main characters. Salinger ties Holden to modernism as a character
who breaks all the rules and refuses being normal. If modernism was a character, it would

Habits of Mind Application in Learning the Plant Life Cycle
Habits of Mind: Application in Learning the Plant Life Cycle
The Habits of Mind is a learning and thinking framework in which both educators/teachers and
students would benefit when applied appropriately in learning opportunities and initiatives. This
framework is composed of sixteen (16) habits, which learners could use and emphasize in trying to
understand or learn a new concept or idea. These habits are noted as follows: (1) Persisting; (2)
Managing Impulsivity; (3) Thinking about your Thinking: Metacognition; (4) Remaining Open to
Continuous Learning; (5) Striving for Accuracy; (6) Listening with Understanding and Empathy; (7)
Thinking Flexibly; (8) Thinking Interdependently; (9) Questioning and Posing Problems; (10)
Applying Past Knowledge to New Situations; (11) Responding with Wonderment and Awe; (12)
Taking Responsible Risks; (13) Thinking and Communicating with Clarity and Precision; (14)
Gathering Data through all the Senses; (15) Creating, Imagining, and Innovating; and (16) Finding
Humor (Costa and Kallick, 2012).
In developing an idea description of a specific learning or topic, such as the plant life cycle, specific
considerations must be taken into account. First, the educator or sharer of learning must be able to
understand the depth and level of information that will be shared to others. Second, the sharer must
also take into consideration the level of understanding of his/her audience. And third, the medium
through which the learning would be best

Dreams in Invisible Man Essay example
There are many types of dreams and many interpretations of those dreams. Dreams of power... of
glory... of the past and the present... but none are as vivid as those that are found in Ralph Ellison s
novel, Invisible Man.
The dreams start occurring in the very beginning of Invisible Man. In the infamous Reefer Dream ,
IM talks about a dream he had after he used narcotics. In this bizarre dream, IM hears a speech on
the blackness of black , is assaulted by the son of a former slave, and is run over by a speeding
machine. All of this occurs while listening to What Did I Do To Be So Black and Blue? (pgs 9
12). This is one of the most significant dreams in the book.
In another important dream, IM s deceased grandfather gives ... Show more content on

her. But he just pushes her on to the bed and, the woman just seems to sink outta sight, that there
bed was so soft.... Then swoosh! All of a sudden, a flock of little white geese fly out of the
bed(Ellison 55 58). Soon after, Trueblood wakes up and is going to tell his wife about the dream,
but when he wakes up, he is on top of his daughter. This is important because this dream
eventually gets IM kicked out of college. The reason for IM s expulsion is because Norton had a
heart attack due to the shock of hearing this dream.
Dr. Bledsoe is a target of IM s rage. IM often dreams of publicly humiliating Bledsoe by forcing him
to eat chitterlings. The reason IM feels hatred towards Bledsoe is because IM feels Bledsoe is fully
responsible for IM moving to Harlem. He also feels like he has been stabbed in the back by
Bledsoe, because Bledsoe wrote letters of recommendation that were really letters of degradation.
These are the reasons that IM often dreams of revenge.
IM s grandfather is a constant figure in most of IM s dreams. In a dream after IM joins the
Brotherhood, his grandfather tells him that, You start up Saul, and end up Paul

The Influence Of Power In Emily Dickinson s Poetry
Emily Dickinson is the creator of some of the most famous works in American poetry. Throughout
the 1800s, the author dedicated her life to poetry. She used metaphors in an advanced way and
displayed power through her unique use of diction. Emily s immense power with words derived
from her determination. Dickinson s determination to achieve individuality and power is
exemplified through her complex poetryand derived from the events that occurred in her life.
Dickinson s poetry was heavily influenced by the ongoings of her life. She was born in Amherst,
Massachusettson December 10, 1830, as a younger sister and soon to be older sister. She was born
as the middle child of three children. Her mother, Emily Norcross Dickinson, was a stay at home...

Comfort can be found in any place that it is desired. Dickinson s desired comfort was found
within the experience of seclusion. In 1852, Emily went through an unknown, traumatic event
which caused her to sink into the depths of her emotions. She withdrew from society for 15
years and refused to interact with any one contacted with the outside world. She resided within
the confines of Homestead from 1858 until her death, in 1862. All visitors of Homestead were
hidden from and her only focus was poetry (Miller). Some say the cause of her withdrawal was
the rejection of her mother, which lead to an immunity to loneliness. Others say she withdrew
because none of her relationships seemed to work out which understandably could cause a strong
feeling of misery. However, Emily quite frequently had trouble getting poems published, therefore
she could have merely wanted to perfect her poetry. Dickinson s period of seclusion inspired many
of her astonishing, yet negative toned poems still being read

How Is Hyperbole Used In Romeo And Juliet
In Act 2 Scene 3 of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo goes to visit Friar Lawrence in his cell after
meeting Juliet and falling madly in love with her. Romeo tells him about his love for Juliet and
asks him to marry them. Friar Lawrence is shocked that Romeo has moved on so suddenly so he
gives a dramatic speech to Romeo. Shakespeare uses meaningful images, melodic diction, and
dramatic hyperboles to express the nature of love. In the following lines, Shakespeare illustrates
how young and immature men are bound to fall in and out of love in an instant. Friar Lawrence
starts out by exclaiming, Jesu Maria, what a deal of brine / Hath washed thy sallow cheeks for
Rosaline! (2.3.73 74). Friar Lawrence is extremely surprised that Romeo is able to forget... Show

The hyperbole used in these lines emphasize the short span of time for which it took Romeo to
transition from mourning over Rosaline to loving Juliet. In addition, Friar also mentions an old
tear that is not washed off yet (2.3.80) to continually present the quickness in which Romeo was
able to change both emotions and lovers. Romeo s love for Rosaline was so recent that a tear
from when he was crying could still be seen. Lawrence also follows up with a melodic diction
with the repetition of the th sound through If e er thou wast thyself and these woes thine, / Thou
and these woes were all for Rosaline (2.3.81 82). The th sound is usually a very long sound that
can be held for a long time. Friar uses this to symbolize how he believes that love is pleasant, and
therefore should last a long time. Previously, Romeo was so in love with Rosaline that he
expressed his love for her by making her seem like a god. He stated, The all seeing sun / Ne er
saw her match since first the world begun (1.2.99 100). Through this hyperbole, Romeo
emphasizes the extremity of Rosaline s beauty. However, now he has changed his mind already,
saying that Juliet is a holy shrine . When Romeo sees someone that he likes, he immediately
praises their beauty without ever questioning his own foolishness. The motif of Romeo s
foolishness is the reason that he will never be able to stay in a stable relationship. Therefore,
Romeo does not and will most likely never understand the true meaning of

The Post American World Essay
The Post American World
America was conducting business as usual, but others were joining the game. (Zakaria, 221). All
this time we thought we were on top, we were actually slowly becoming less and less of leader
and more a bystander as the rest of the world is slowly rising around us. Zakaria shows in that
quote that as America has been continuing business like always, and because of this we have failed
to realize our standing with the world around us. In the book The Post American World, Zakaria

I think it s a good thing that America has competition, we need the motivation and the support these
larger countries can offer.
The last way that America is most affected by the rise of the rest is through our worldly
participation. In a globalized world, almost all problems spill over borders. (Zakaria, 34). On a
frequent basis America tends to interfere with many global issues. With that we spend lots of
money we may not currently have. I don t think that s a wise choice of America, but Zakaria
states When the United States involves itself abroad; it always believes that it is genuinely trying
to help other countries better themselves (Zakaria, 35). America does have good intentions but
needs to face the reality that every issue can t also become ours. Now with other countries rising
we can allow them to step in a fill that gap America can no longer tend to.
By adjusting to the new reality of our ignorance, competition, and worldly participation I believe
America would put itself in a good place to deal with the rise of the rest . I think Zakaria points
out true issues America has faced and is yet to face. It s all about the present, as much as we are
driving toward the future, it s really important to deal what we have at hand. Although we may be
slowing in our advancements America is still in a very good position as a country and has come a

Amy Bloom s Silver Water
In Amy Bloom s short story, Silver Water , the main character Rose takes her own life as a result
to living with mental illness. Throughout the story the narrator, Rose s sister, shows the difficulties
of living with mental illness not only for Rose s family, but also for Rose. A common obstacle for
the familyis getting Rose proper care; this is difficult because the family could not find long term
insuranceor doctor. In Silver Water , Amy Bloom makes a point about how mental illness
is treated;
the specific point she makes is that mental illness is not taken as seriously as it should be. This
is shown through how difficult it is for Rose to receive proper treatment. One of the first
examples of mistreatment is that in Silver Water Rose is pulled from her halfway home and is
taken off of her medicine so that her family could switch to an insurance that can better support
the long term treatment she needs. This leaves her parents struggling to take care of her at home
while she is nowhere close to stable. This is going to be difficult not all bad, but difficult for the
whole family...(Bloom 3) The narrator goes off to college while her parents take care of Rose.
Through phone calls from her parents the narrator sees how much of a toll taking care of Rose
is on her parents and how her behavior gets worse. Roses behavior goes downhill because she is
taken off of her medication to prove she has a mental illness. As a result, Rose gets so bad that she

enemy to society they have to be raised differently. For example, Adam Lanza, shooter who
caused the horrible deaths of children at Sandy Hook elementary, was raised by a mom who
lived in a rural area in New Hampshire where hunting and shooting guns was a regular activity
there. Adam showed signs of interest to guns at an early age and his mom would buy him guns to
start collecting at age 14. At this point in time he was diagnosed mentally ill and he started to be
obsessed with violent fantasies. A main reason his mom would buy him guns is so that they can
share an interest in something together and bond. So you have to take into consideration that what
happens whilst a child is growing up and how they are raised will impact future actions.... Show

The two shooters I previously talked about have mental disabilities. For example, Jose Reyes had
shown signs of autism and Adam Lanza with undiagnosed schizophrenia. Not only do Jose and
Adam have mental disorders, a majority of school shooters have signs of mental disorders. It s
inevitable to avoid school shootings unless there is a change of gun laws but that is up to the
government to figure out. Unfortunately school shootings will continue to happen and there has to
be a cure for the forthcoming future to carry out the safety of kids and teachers around the

Negative Essay On Homelessness In America
Suburban life is like a paradise full of well kept homes, shopping, and colorful gardens. Despite
all of these luxury s suburban life is isolated. Most Americans live the suburban life and are
never exposited to all of the miseries our society has. One of the many miseries is being
homeless. When living in an environment filled with warm homes it is hard for people to
understand what it is like to live without a safe place to sleep, a proper meal, or even medical
attention. Thousands of people deal with being homeless and not having the basic luxury s
many of us take for granted every day. Homeless people get judged every day when what they
really need is a little help and support. There is a false stereotype about homeless saying that they
are too lazy to get a job, but that is not necessarily true. Many people in the United States have to
deal with being homeless from children to even veterans. In the book, The Glass Castel, Jeannette
Walls gives her readers a small incite on what it is like to be homeless. This is a true epidemic that
can improve with the help of others. Homelessnessis a major issue in America and people need to
become more aware of this issue. The overall image of homelessness has changed since the Great
Depression, when many homeless people were elderly. Today woman, young children, veterans,
men, and young adults are homeless. There is not a specific demographic that is homeless it can be
anyone. In the last decade, the homeless population has

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Acne
Most people who suffer from acne go out and spend good money on common over the counter
acne treatment products. The truth is, most of these products are full of chemicals that can
actually slow down the healing of acne, and irritate your skin, causing farther breakouts. When an
acne product has 20 ingredients listed on it, it can be hard to know if one of those ingredients is
actually stopping you from having success. It can be even harder when you can t pronounce the
ingredient, much less know what it is and how it is going to affect your skin. Most mainstream
acne treatments are not only much more expensive than common household items, but they also
don t always work as well either. With that in mind, I will list some basic household items... Show

an idea of some basic household items you can use on your skin, that work better than many
OTC acne products, and are much cheaper to use. Since we have only really covered basic acne

Today, everyone has electronic device to go online to use social media or read the news daily. When

Fall Of Yugoslavia
Yugoslavia fell in the 1990 s into a mess of right wing nationalistic states at war, resulted in
numerous war crime, the bitter end was the result of the fragmented political atmosphere in the
wake of Tito s death. Significantly, though, the Soviet Union came to a relatively peaceful end due
to Gorbachev s leadership style, while the inability for different factions to compromise led to
Milošević s rise and the disturbing events of the 1990 s. Tito s government, while deservedly
less notorious than Stalin s, was not able to achieve much economic success, and after his death the
country s centralized leadership began to fragment. Tito was replaced with a collective presidency,

While Tito s oppression may have made people more intrigued by its rise after his death, this fails
to explain why things ended the way they did. When Stalin died things changed in the USSR, but it
didn t fall. And notably, Yugoslavia remained (de facto) unified until 1992, twelve years after Tito s
death. I m convinced that things happened the way they did because nationalism appealed to the
people; Milošević sought to keep Yugoslavia unified, but with Serbian supremacy, a promise
which would have sounded good if you were a Serbian worried about the future of your people
and your nation, and used heinous means to try to achieve his goal. Perhaps if some sort of plan
had been made prior to Tito s death that addressed the problems that could arise, Yugoslavia may
have lasted longer. Some people certainly hold onto memories of a time when Yugoslavia was at
peace, what Dubravka Ugrešić called Yugonostalgia in her novel The Ministry of Pain,
indicating that there may have been the potential for Yugoslavia to stay how it was had nationalism
not been so appealing. In short, Yugoslavia may have been an old man no longer in his prime, but

we made two culture vials by first placing about 1.5 cm of flakes along with about four grains of
yeast into each vial. Then, with a glass pipette, a solution of water and 1% propionic acid is
added to the flakes and yeast to hydrate them. This will cause the flakes and yeast to turn blue,
and the solution is added until it is a consistent bright blue color where no isolated flakes are
visible (it is helpful to mash up the flakes and yeast). Once the necessary color is established, the
vials need to sit for about eight to ten hours. If whenever, at any time during the experiment, the

It seems as though Chris Brown s outfit during the Tuesday leg of New York Fashion Week, was

the couple were criticized by PETA. In a statement provided to Gossip Cop, PETA said There are

film based on a therapist, his family, and his new patient. The therapists name is Doctor Leo

Baby Steps . This is the approach he begins to take on his new patient who has been bounced
around from psychologist to psychologist. Dr. Leo Marvin soon finds out that his technique of

I did notice a flaw in the story line in relation to therapy, however. The flaw was that Bob seemed
to get progressively better at a very fast rate. In relation to his diagnosis of multi phobic
personality characterized by acute separation anxiety and the extreme need for family
connections along with the ones I found such as OCD, agoraphobia and dependent personality
disorder. All of the problems seem to go away with little to no time except for the dependent
personality disorder which would not happen in any typical case. The movie did portray the
dependent part right because Bob always put his happiness above the Doctor which fits what a
person with dependent personality disorder would do. Another thing that I noticed was that Dr.
Marvin never tries to realize why Bob is actually at the house. He never tries to have a session or
get to the bottom of why he is at the house and will not leave. Instead of being so wrapped up
with getting rid of Bob, Leo should have tried to treat Bob. With the right treatment Bob might
have gone back to New York. Another major flaw, done for comedic purpose, was that counselors
are not supposed to attempt to kill their patients. This movie was a pretty accurate portrayal of a
patient with dependent personality, multi phobic personality disorder, extreme need for family
connections and acute separation anxiety. This movie is not only funny to watch but also a
psychological movie for counselors to

Straight Line-Personal Narrative
Although, Straight Line was hurt, I refused to give up, I endlessly searched to locate a
replacement horse. Thus came Princess, a buckskin mare that I borrowed from an acquaintance
of my sisters. My mother and I traveled to Goodland for a little test run and at the end of the day
we hauled her home. Thrilled is not a word I would use to describe the idea of running on her,
but what choice did I have. I needed a horse, any horse to ride at the finals, since Straight Line
was no longer able to run. Princess and my personalities clashed, there is only room for one
princess and I already occupied that position. Trust me when I say that typically mares have
bigger attitudes, than most teenage girls. Even though, I gave it my best shot, considering my
situation, we just could not find a rhythm together. Despite of my efforts, I knew it was going to
be a long week as I unsaddled her after the worst practice that I had ever had. Consequently, I

The Importance of Night in Macbeth
When I thought about the role that the word night would play in the tragic play Macbeth, I found
that there were a variety of possibilities. Immediately, I thought of the nighttime as a period of rest
and revitalization. I expected that this would allow characters to recover from the day s many
demands. Secondly, I connected the night to the unknown. In the night s cloak of darkness, many
more things could go undiscovered than in the revealing light of day. Next, I thought that the night
would mean vulnerability. As the evening closes in, everyone begins to wind down, not expecting
any real action until the breaking of the dawn. In addition, while one is sleeping, they are
susceptible to almost anything. The most logical time to make... Show more content on

The night, however, gives her the impression that Macbeth can indeed kill King Duncan with no
one uncovering his contemptible crime, the same idea that Macbeth had when he said, Stars, hide
your fires; / Let not light see my black and deep desires... (I,iv,50). The night s darkness even
allows them to believe that they can hide Macbeth s sin from God, the all knowing One. Next, we
find an excellent example of night causing vulnerability in act II, scene iii. As King Duncan
slumbers in his chambers, Macbeth, bidding the firm set earth not to hear his steps, enters and
slays the innocent and unaware monarch (56). Another key example of night s connection to
vulnerability occurs in act III, scene iii, when the unsuspecting Banquo is murdered as he returns to
Inverness. If Banquo had returned in the light of day, the three murderers surely would not have
attempted to kill the nobleman. Finally, one can recognize the major role that night plays regarding
evilness in Macbeth. All of the evil things that Macbeth does in the story occurs in the nighttime.

The Democracy Of Color By Philip Cowan
In The Democracy of color, author Philip Cowan outlines a brief overview of the use of color in
film by noting the contribution of cinematography and the relatively blind eye given to the study of
color. Although all cinematographers have their own outlook towards color schemes, a deeper
meaning is redefined between the psychological and cultural use of color. The use of color
psychologically requires an understanding that is more universally consistent. This creates an
emotional response from the observers. The cultural use of color varies from different regional
areas. Typical use of color creates symbolism that has no psychological or cultural meaning without
setting a balanced, contextual association that connects it to viewers. Cowan challenged Russell s
argument that the fundamental component in film production can be controlled by the
cinematographer, with the use of art direction and set design, by stating that a cinematographer can
not control the color, but contribute different elucidations towards a film s images.
Method
To help understand the method used to evaluate the different color schemes used in films, Cowan
interprets many different films and the director s reasons behind the colors chosen for their films.
In Alexander Nevsky, the use of white hoods for the Teutonic Knights was used to represent
ruthlessness, as opposed to the typical mentality of innocence. This contrast used by Kracauer
further implicated cultural connotations with their contextual

Rescuer Persuasive Essay
Every good citizen makes his country s honor his own, and cherishes it not only as precious but
as sacred. He is willing to risk his life in its defense and is conscious that he gains protection while
he gives it Andrew Jackson. This quote proves that a rescuer is willing to risk his life to save and
protect people from danger.
Yes, I think rescuers should rescuepeople even at risk. First, because it s their job, they get paid
for that. Second, because if they don t rescue people in need who will. Lastly, it s their duty, we
need heros and rescuers with brilliant machines to help those in need.
Rescuers are heros alive or dead but the fact they must accept is that people smart or dumb will
climb the mountain and take a risk, and rescuers have to be aware just incase somethings happens.

Hiv Testing in Newborns Essay
This paper presents an ethical analysis of the mandatory newborn HIV testing law enacted in
New York State. The law was passed as an effort to decrease maternal transmission of HIV, by
treating infants born to HIV positive mothers immediately after birth with AZT. Newborn testing
was promoted by the legislative and medical community following the overwhelmingly positive
response from HIV infected pregnant women who were given AZT in the ACTG 076 clinical
trials. Pregnant mothers who were given AZT had a markedly lower transmission rate than
mothers who had not received it. This paper examines this newborn testing policy from a

The increased awareness of successful treatment modalities for potentially seropositive infants
heightened the push for legislation mandating HIV testing of newborns (Garrett, 1995) (Nicholson,
2002). Blinded studies, although useful for tracking the number of seropositive infants in the state,
deprived HIV positive mothers and their at risk infants of any opportunity for follow up care or
interventions (Berger, Rosner, and Farnsworth 1996). The results of the anonymous newborn
screenings, coupled with the promising treatment research from ACTG 076, was the impetus for
the State of New York to enact policy mandating the testing of all newborns for the human
deficiency virus (Cameron, 2002).

1.Cite at least three different functions that the Palace at Knossos served.
The Palace at Knossos served as a landmark with mythological implications as it was said to be
the home of King Minos and also gave rise to the important myth of Theseus. The maze like
system of the palace was used to tell the story of Theseus who slew the Minotaur while being

wine, grain, oil, and honey which were kept in large jars in the magazine rooms. Furthermore, the
palace complex served as a government building as it had administrative and workrooms on the

Mycenaeans were were concerned with warfare and advanced their civilizations through conquest,

Also, their art often depicts forms of warfare, The Warrior Vase and the lion hunt dagger for

The Music Of Charley Patton
John Fahey s 1966 masters thesis A textual and musicological analysis of the repertoire of Charley
Patton has the distinction of being the first book length analysis of the music of Charley Patton.
Fahey s text focused primarily on assembling the historical facts of Patton s life, while the analytical
portions written with the aid of Dr. David Morton, UCLA focused on systematizing Patton s
repertoire based on modal constructs present in his vocal melodies. Fahey s biographical
information focused on characterizing Patton as an entertainer; However, the analytical portion
omits significant lines of inquiry that result in an incomplete picture of Patton s repertoire. Fahey
notes the utilitarian function of Patton s music, but does not detail musical examples of this utility,
especially in relation to the guitar. That is the purpose of this document. The music of Charley
Patton reflects the utilitarian function of it within his life: music functioned as his main source of
income. Patton was an entertainer; as such, he needed a vast amount of material to fill time in the
venues he performed in. Consequently, his surviving recorded repertoire makes extensive use of
formulas in the guitar accompaniment and vocal melodies. The use of formula is so frequent in
Patton s music that, instead of culling material from contemporary musicians (an accepted practice
among bluesmusicians) he preferred to borrow from his own repertoire. Moreover, the formulas
present in the guitar

Chiropractor Case Study
How A Chiropractor Might Help Your Herniated Disc If you have a herniated disc, a chiropractor
might be able to help. A herniated disc often causes pain far from the site of the problem. For
example, if the affected disc is in your lower back, you can feel pain in your thigh or leg. The
first thing a chiropractor does is examine your entire spine to fully assess your pain. He or she
will also look at your medical history and your body mechanics to come up with a plan for
treatment. Here are some of the treatment options that might be suitable. Compression Relief With
Wedges A herniated disc causes pain because the disc presses against a nerve in your spine. This is
called compressing the nerve, and one treatment for it is decompression.

Bennett 1932 Problem Analysis
The tension between the public and governing institutions was made worse by the fact that the
failure of government to mitigate the hardships of the Great Depression was not only perceived
nationally, but also felt personally: a growing number of Canadians found, much to their dismay,
that many decisions made by the state were not benefitting them. In fact, some were doing great
harm and, in the process, eroding the relationship between them and their government. An
important example of this kind of problem was Bennett s 1932 decision to create a series of
remote work camps for single, unemployed young men (Fielding, 127) a move that drew a great
deal of criticism, especially within the context of Bennett s failure to provide more lasting... Show

As a result of failure on all levels of government to provide relief to the desperate masses, Canadians
grew to see many established political institutions as out of touch and ineffective. By the thousands,
they expressed their frustrations and sought out new, often radical, solutions to the many problems
of the era. The leaders of Canada s two traditional federal parties, the Liberals and Conservatives,
were unable to forestall the economic catastrophe, and, perhaps more significantly, failed to
convince many Canadians that traditional policies would ultimately provide solutions. As a result,
the government faced a growing sense of antipathy as their actions repeatedly demonstrated an
inability to meet the real needs of those most affected. This mounting tension gave rise to new
political parties across the country that presented voters with new ideas and attractive new solutions
that so many had lost faith in the government to provide. Finally, the degree to which Canadians felt
the need to escape the harsh reality was evidenced by the increase in popularity of escapist
entertainment in the 1930s. Despite the wide variety of ideas presented and promoted by various
groups in the effort to end the Great Depression, the Canadian economy did not fully recover from
the trauma until the beginning of the Second World War in 1939. In the end, it

Argumentative Essay On Illegal Immigration
Causal Analysis Essay
In the public s mind, the undocumented the people living here without permission from the
American government are Hispanic, mostly Mexican and crossed the southwestern border in
secret. (NY Times, 2017) This is true to a great degree. It is far easier to cross the southern border
than it is to raft or fly into the country. The United States of America was founded with immigrants
and the idea that here, in this great land, people could enjoy the freedoms and liberties that
immigrants sought after in the first place. With over 11 million illegal immigrants already in the
United States of America and at least a third of that amount able to gain access to the country
annually, there is no doubt that illegal immigration can have an extensive effect on the country as
we know it. Furthermore, illegal immigration can have many negative effects on the population, as
well as the country and what is offered all together. The strain illegal immigration puts on the
countries resources by way of over population, the effects it has on taxes and the growing drug
related crime is some of the concerns and problems with illegal immigration.
Advocates for U.S. population stabilization, including some environmental organizations and
leaders, fear that this ongoing influx of new arrivals is forcing the nation to exceed its carrying
capacity, stressing an already overburdened physical infrastructure. (Scientific American) Illegal
immigration has a staggering effect on

Memes have been circulating social media for over centuries now, whether it is defusing tension
or raising awareness, they have become an important part of society. Memes come in all different

socially and relate to them. They are ideas that spread usually through social media that sometimes
have a message behind them, however the message can either be informing or degrading. It all

came out using racial slurs or demeaning a certain group in society that at some point, the memes

Focal Nervous System Paper
The general structure of the nervous system is known as the anatomy of the nervous system
(neuroanatomy). The acts of human beings are guided by controls through the nervous system. A
human being s response to its environment is also through controlled guiding and thoughts (Pinel,

of our nervous systems within hollow tube holding the CNS and PNS of our nervous system

Atticus Moral Courage
The word courage may conjure up the typical images of soldiers fighting a war or firefighters
saving houses. While these are courageous acts, they represent merely one type of courage. In To
Kill A Mockingbird Harper Lee showcases an alternative type of courage, moral courage, through
two main characters and their selfless but righteous actions. Throughout the book, Atticus is
illustrated as a compassionate and intellectual man, withholding high standards and morals. These
same morals drive Atticus to selflessly defend Tom Robinson. He does this despite knowing he s
got everything to lose from taking the case (Lee pg.146). Furthermore, Atticus is aware of the jury
s bias and the likely conviction, but if he didn t try to defend Tom, he couldn t... Show more content

Living in a revolutionary time, Lee undoubtedly witnessed moral courage as numerous civil rights
activists fought for equality. One iconic activist, that is the epitome of moral courage, is Rosa
Parks. In 1955, six years prior to the publication of To Kill A Mockingbird, Rosa Parks fearlessly
refused to give up her seat for a white person. Fully aware of the negative repercussions she could
face for this, she still defended her morals. In fact she faced continued harassment and threats in the
wake of her boycott but this did not deter her from living in alignment of her principles
(History.com Staff). Furthermore, she defended her beliefs because she tired of giving in ,
demonstrating how this action required tremendous will power and bravery (History.com Staff).
Considering the adversity that Parks faced, in addition to the immense valor required, her
undeniable moral courage strongly parallels

Taking a Look at the Linotype Machine
In 1885 the printing of information would change dramatically upon the invention of the Linotype
machine. Ottmar Mergenthaler s invention fostered a thriving print culture in American history.
This machine increased the production of printing with the advanced procedure known as line
casting. This allowed text to be printed one line at a time, instead of printingone typeset at a time.
This complex yet innovative machine allowed companies such as newspapers to educate the masses
in a rapid manner. By the twentieth century, many countries were using the new typesettingmachine
to educate its own people in a fast and coast efficient manner.
The Linotype machine was invented by Ottmar Mergenthaler. Mergenthaler was a German
watchmaker who migrated to America in early 1870 s. While Mergenthaler was still in his twenties
he moved to Baltimore where he began to work on machines that were used in print production.
These machines were structured to preform typewriting and lithography functions. Mergenthaler
began to envision a machine that could produce multiple castings of type. During this period there
were many inventors working on typesetting innovations. Ottmar not only wanted his machine to
produce cast type, but he wanted it to produce type in lines of text at the same time. He also
wanted the machine to stamp out matrices and cast the metal as well. To accomplish his goal,
Mergenthaler went through a lot of trial and error. By 1885 the Linotype machine was a success.

Ban and monitoring of internet browsing and surfing
There is a continuous monitoring over the Internet in the United States. This is the potential and
propositional controversy over the privacy rights. This law is stated as the invasion of privacy, and
it can be observed that this regulation is placed upon us for the context of limitation and a ban on
certain websites. This is truly an example of a nanny state where one is being observed and is not
free to surf and browse the internet (Broache, 2016). This primarily discusses the benefits of this
law and the constraints and downsides of this law. Thus, this article delimits the potential of control
over the internet for the so called Safe Secure browsing.
The control over the internet has been the long standing ambition of the government, and the public
has always restrained themselves from it. It can be understood that the potential and the positional
benefits of this is limitless. Corporates tend to provide a more customized experience, whereas
Governments wish to stay alerted from the activities that are present, it can be seen that the
potential and the common objective is awareness (Stanley Steinhardt, 2003).
This becomes a nanny state as the government makes amends and tends tries to monitor all the
activities of its citizens. This effects the citizens and the nation in a twofold manner, it effects the
government in a manner

  • 2. Monsanto s Lawsuits Analysis Do you think it s fair that one farmer had to settle (say he was guilty) because that was cheaper than trying to fight Monsanto s lawsuits? Why or why not? The fact that the farmer had to settle because he couldn t afford fighting the lawsuit is extremely unfair. However, I don t think it is a good decision. Even thought defeating Mansanto in court is almost impossible, settling and saying that I m guilty is not an alternative if I were in his place. Not because I believe in justice, but because I believe that our fight against this kind of big companies will not be easy, and if we give up so easily from the beginning of the road we couldn t see the end of this dark tunnel soon. He made a mistake in assuming that the simplest compound of two elements must be binary, formed from atoms of each element in a 1:1 ratio. This postulate prevented his theory from being accepted for many years. Many of the atomic weights were incorrect and later corrected. For example, he said oxygen atomic weight was seven instead of eight. It will come as no surprise the communication style at each of the organizations need to be clearly identified. The two groups coming together could have very different styles of communicating to not only staff but customers as well. One organization may use electronic communicationmeans as the main way they communicate within the organization. Maybe most of the communication is done via email instead of direct conversation. Where another company may prefer having direct communication face to face or via the telephone. As you can see, this could create a significant challenge for both organizations because as they merge they will become frustrated or could even misinterpret an email whereas the staff that is meeting face to face may feel neglected or ignored because they are not having direct interactions. Identifying the different types of communications and establishing a standard format that meets the needs of the employees without comprising the effectiveness of the message must be one of the first steps when integrating multiple cultures. The second fundamental challenge is conflict resolution within organizations. Just as each entity has its own way of communicating so are their approaches to conflict resolution. The Military Service is incentivized, offering a career, education, and life long benefits; thus, some will volunteer for Military Service without deeply considering the ethics of service and their personal convictions; moreover, the nature of war causes man to struggle with the morality after deployment, resulting in a conviction arriving late into one s career. • 8. Clostridia Essay The fermentation that occurs during the making of good silage focuses on the conversion of carbohydrates from the plants anaerobically converted into lactic acid. This is an incredibly simple process brought on by the homolactic Lactobacillus bacteria as the carbohydrates such as glucose as converted into 2 molecules of pyruvate by glycolysis, which is then converted into 2 molecules of lactic acid; creating ATP and involving both the reduction of NAD+ for use in glycolysis, but then also the oxidation of NADH to regenerate more NAD+ (Morton J S, 1980). However, secondary fermentation can be taken by the Clostridia bacteria if the pH does not increase fast enough, which convert the produced lactic acid into butyric acid, increasing the pH but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The two loosely packed silage s also indicated an increased production of Clostridia behaviour as the pH was slightly higher from the conversion of lactate to butyrate, caused specifically by Saccharolytic Clostridia (Muck R E 1988), and the high levels of Ammonia Nitrogen due to the Clostridia consuming the amino acids and proteins and producing ammonia as the waste product. This data suggests that this kikuyu grass barely entered the primary fermentation stage properly due to the incredibly loose packing of the grass, therefore having a large surface area, and having a constant supply of oxygen. As seen in figure 10., the Crude Protein (CP) percentage in the silage of the immature and mature loosely packed kikuyu is also the most varied from the grass CP (0.7% difference for the immature, 0.2% for the mature), further indicating the Clostridia growth as the Proteolytic Clostridia (Muck R E 1988) consumed the protein and converted it to ammonia during the fermentation, and therefore there is less protein available for the ruminants to digest and absorb (Rasby R, Martin J, n.d). Although the two loosely packed silage s had a low butyric acid percentage, the other factors indicated that this was the poorest silage when applying it to real scenarios; the high ammonia and poor nutritional value makes this silage disastrous to feed to ... Modernism took place right after WWII and is classified by consciously trying to break away from original styles of writing such as Romanticism and Realism and the other styles that appeared before them. The modernist movement was driven by desire to talk about new things and express the true feelings of the age the authors lived in. This was the reason why many modernists wrote about World War. As Obama said after the shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, where a gunman went on a rampage and murdered at least 10 people, Somehow this has become a routine. All shooters have a motive and it has to do with their life at home, how they were treated at school, and how their mental health is. Initially, for a school shooter to become an enemy to society they have to be raised differently. For example, Adam Lanza, shooter who caused the horrible deaths of children at Sandy Hook elementary, was raised by a mom who lived in a rural area in New Hampshire where hunting and shooting guns was a regular activity there. Adam showed signs of interest to guns at an early age and his mom would buy him guns to start collecting at age 14. At this point in time he was diagnosed mentally ill and he started to be obsessed with violent fantasies. All of the problems seem to go away with little to no time except for the dependent personality disorder which would not happen in any typical case. The movie did portray the dependent part right because Bob always put his happiness above the Doctor which fits what a person with dependent personality disorder would do. Another thing that I noticed was that Dr. Marvin never tries to realize why Bob is actually at the house. He never tries to have a session or get to the bottom of why he is at the house and will not leave. Instead of being so wrapped up with getting rid of Bob, Leo should have tried to treat Bob. With the right treatment Bob might have gone back to New York. Another major flaw, done for comedic purpose, was that counselors are not supposed to attempt to kill their patients. Immediately, I thought of the nighttime as a period of rest and revitalization. I expected that this would allow characters to recover from the day s many demands. Secondly, I connected the night to the unknown. In the night s cloak of darkness, many more things could go undiscovered than in the revealing light of day. • 31. The Democracy Of Color By Philip Cowan In The Democracy of color, author Philip Cowan outlines a brief overview of the use of color in film by noting the contribution of cinematography and the relatively blind eye given to the study of color. Although all cinematographers have their own outlook towards color schemes, a deeper meaning is redefined between the psychological and cultural use of color. The use of color psychologically requires an understanding that is more universally consistent. This creates an emotional response from the observers. The cultural use of color varies from different regional areas. Typical use of color creates symbolism that has no psychological or cultural meaning without setting a balanced, contextual association that connects it to viewers. Cowan challenged Russell s argument that the fundamental component in film production can be controlled by the cinematographer, with the use of art direction and set design, by stating that a cinematographer can not control the color, but contribute different elucidations towards a film s images. Method To help understand the method used to evaluate the different color schemes used in films, Cowan interprets many different films and the director s reasons behind the colors chosen for their films. In Alexander Nevsky, the use of white hoods for the Teutonic Knights was used to represent ruthlessness, as opposed to the typical mentality of innocence. This contrast used by Kracauer further implicated cultural connotations with their contextual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Music Of Charley Patton John Fahey s 1966 masters thesis A textual and musicological analysis of the repertoire of Charley Patton has the distinction of being the first book length analysis of the music of Charley Patton. Fahey s text focused primarily on assembling the historical facts of Patton s life, while the analytical portions written with the aid of Dr. David Morton, UCLA focused on systematizing Patton s repertoire based on modal constructs present in his vocal melodies. Fahey s biographical information focused on characterizing Patton as an entertainer; However, the analytical portion omits significant lines of inquiry that result in an incomplete picture of Patton s repertoire. Fahey notes the utilitarian function of Patton s music, but does not detail musical examples of this utility, especially in relation to the guitar. That is the purpose of this document. The music of Charley Patton reflects the utilitarian function of it within his life: music functioned as his main source of income. Patton was an entertainer; as such, he needed a vast amount of material to fill time in the venues he performed in. Consequently, his surviving recorded repertoire makes extensive use of formulas in the guitar accompaniment and vocal melodies. The use of formula is so frequent in Patton s music that, instead of culling material from contemporary musicians (an accepted practice among bluesmusicians) he preferred to borrow from his own repertoire. • 43. Bennett 1932 Problem Analysis The tension between the public and governing institutions was made worse by the fact that the failure of government to mitigate the hardships of the Great Depression was not only perceived nationally, but also felt personally: a growing number of Canadians found, much to their dismay, that many decisions made by the state were not benefitting them. In fact, some were doing great harm and, in the process, eroding the relationship between them and their government. An important example of this kind of problem was Bennett s 1932 decision to create a series of remote work camps for single, unemployed young men (Fielding, 127) a move that drew a great deal of criticism, especially within the context of Bennett s failure to provide more lasting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result of failure on all levels of government to provide relief to the desperate masses, Canadians grew to see many established political institutions as out of touch and ineffective. By the thousands, they expressed their frustrations and sought out new, often radical, solutions to the many problems of the era. The leaders of Canada s two traditional federal parties, the Liberals and Conservatives, were unable to forestall the economic catastrophe, and, perhaps more significantly, failed to convince many Canadians that traditional policies would ultimately provide solutions. As a result, the government faced a growing sense of antipathy as their actions repeatedly demonstrated an inability to meet the real needs of those most affected. This mounting tension gave rise to new political parties across the country that presented voters with new ideas and attractive new solutions that so many had lost faith in the government to provide. Finally, the degree to which Canadians felt the need to escape the harsh reality was evidenced by the increase in popularity of escapist entertainment in the 1930s. Despite the wide variety of ideas presented and promoted by various groups in the effort to end the Great Depression, the Canadian economy did not fully recover from the trauma until the beginning of the Second World War in 1939. In the end, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Argumentative Essay On Illegal Immigration Causal Analysis Essay In the public s mind, the undocumented the people living here without permission from the American government are Hispanic, mostly Mexican and crossed the southwestern border in secret. (NY Times, 2017) This is true to a great degree. It is far easier to cross the southern border than it is to raft or fly into the country. The United States of America was founded with immigrants and the idea that here, in this great land, people could enjoy the freedoms and liberties that immigrants sought after in the first place. With over 11 million illegal immigrants already in the United States of America and at least a third of that amount able to gain access to the country annually, there is no doubt that illegal immigration can have an extensive effect on the country as we know it. Furthermore, illegal immigration can have many negative effects on the population, as well as the country and what is offered all together. The strain illegal immigration puts on the countries resources by way of over population, the effects it has on taxes and the growing drug related crime is some of the concerns and problems with illegal immigration. Advocates for U.S. population stabilization, including some environmental organizations and leaders, fear that this ongoing influx of new arrivals is forcing the nation to exceed its carrying capacity, stressing an already overburdened physical infrastructure. • 47. Atticus Moral Courage The word courage may conjure up the typical images of soldiers fighting a war or firefighters saving houses. While these are courageous acts, they represent merely one type of courage. In To Kill A Mockingbird Harper Lee showcases an alternative type of courage, moral courage, through two main characters and their selfless but righteous actions. Throughout the book, Atticus is illustrated as a compassionate and intellectual man, withholding high standards and morals. These same morals drive Atticus to selflessly defend Tom Robinson. He does this despite knowing he s got everything to lose from taking the case (Lee pg.146). Furthermore, Atticus is aware of the jury s bias and the likely conviction, but if he didn t try to defend Tom, he couldn t... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One iconic activist, that is the epitome of moral courage, is Rosa Parks. Fully aware of the negative repercussions she could face for this, she still defended her morals. • 48. Taking a Look at the Linotype Machine In 1885 the printing of information would change dramatically upon the invention of the Linotype machine. Ottmar Mergenthaler s invention fostered a thriving print culture in American history. This machine increased the production of printing with the advanced procedure known as line casting. This allowed text to be printed one line at a time, instead of printingone typeset at a time. This complex yet innovative machine allowed companies such as newspapers to educate the masses in a rapid manner. By the twentieth century, many countries were using the new typesettingmachine to educate its own people in a fast and coast efficient manner. The Linotype machine was invented by Ottmar Mergenthaler. Mergenthaler was a German watchmaker who migrated to America in early 1870 s. While Mergenthaler was still in his twenties he moved to Baltimore where he began to work on machines that were used in print production. These machines were structured to preform typewriting and lithography functions. Mergenthaler began to envision a machine that could produce multiple castings of type. During this period there were many inventors working on typesetting innovations. Ottmar not only wanted his machine to produce cast type, but he wanted it to produce type in lines of text at the same time. He also wanted the machine to stamp out matrices and cast the metal as well. To accomplish his goal, Mergenthaler went through a lot of trial and error. By 1885 the Linotype machine was a success. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ban And Monitoring Of Internet Browsing And Surfing Assignment on Ban and monitoring of internet browsing and surfing By XxX Dated Ban and monitoring of internet browsing and surfing There is a continuous monitoring over the Internet in the United States. This is the potential and propositional controversy over the privacy rights. This law is stated as the invasion of privacy, and it can be observed that this regulation is placed upon us for the context of limitation and a ban on certain websites. This is truly an example of a nanny state where one is being observed and is not free to surf and browse the internet (Broache, 2016). This primarily discusses the benefits of this law and the constraints and downsides of this law. Thus, this article delimits the potential of control over the internet for the so called Safe Secure browsing. The control over the internet has been the long standing ambition of the government, and the public has always restrained themselves from it. It can be understood that the potential and the positional benefits of this is limitless. Corporates tend to provide a more customized experience, whereas Governments wish to stay alerted from the activities that are present, it can be seen that the potential and the common objective is awareness (Stanley Steinhardt, 2003). This becomes a nanny state as the government makes amends and tends tries to monitor all the activities of its citizens.
