Captain Fantastic Film Techniques
Captain Fantastic directed by Matt Ross, a film about the journey of six children and the father in over
his head raising his children in the wilderness. Homeschooling his children to learn not only about the
many skills and topics from a traditional school, but also how to hunt and live off the land. Skills that
Ben the father describes as essential skills that are never taught in normal public education. His
training and firm regiment make his children not only superior intellectuals, but also physically
superior to children their ages. The director uses very specific and effective strategies to clue the
watcher into the story in the beginning of the movie. Ross uses similar but also drastically different
techniques in the ending scenes of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first five to ten minutes of the film there is minimal to almost zero talking, this is not only
exclusive to the beginning the ending of the movie. The ending which will be elaborated about later
has a very carefully crafted minimal dialog to almost put the viewer in an awkward state where the
extreme lack of dialog, heightnes the other senses causing the viewer to notice carefully placed details
by the director. One of these details that is shown in both the beginning and end of the film is the use
of mason jars. The beginning the camera moves into a storage container where we see the shelves are
stock full of mason jars filled with fruit, dried and perserved roots and berries. This is juxtoposed
greatly to the end of the film when you see Ben with five brown paper bags packing lunches for his
children as they are going off to school. You see him place fresh apples and very similar food to the
begining of the film except they have evolved to be more farmers then hunters and and

Qing Dynasty Research Paper
It is said that during the Song Dynasty (960 1127 AD) the Hakka military brought the Fan tzi kung fu
system into the Fujian region. Fan tzi (Tumbling or Eight Flash Boxing) is recognized by its compact,
short hand striking methods for which many southern systems are well known.
Subsequently, during the Qing Dynasty (1644 1912 AD), the Chu family martial arts were brought to
Fujian as well, which eventual evolved into the Southern Mantis style. As we can see throughout this
nine hundred year period, the Hakka were already starting to influence the martial arts in the southern
region. The preponderance of Hakka Kuen is said to have been influenced by Gee Sin Sim See who

After defeating Chiang Kai Shek in 1949, Mao formed the People s Republic of China and in order to
squelch any uprisings over 700,000 people were massacred in attacks on counter revolutionaries
during the years 1950 52. During the beginning of the cultural revolution, teaching a fighting art was
no longer tolerated however, since Mao s troops knew little about the Hakka masters, they weren t
persecuted and were able to continued teaching underground. A number of years after outlawing the
fighting arts the government realized that it may have acted in haste and risked losing a good part of
their history and culture by banning martial arts. They decided to allow kung fu, but only the forms
(kata) portion as well as trying to standardize the arts just as they do in gymnastics. Combat
techniques were not taught as they didn t want to take a chance on any uprisings if the people acquired
fighting skills. In 1958 the government established the All China Wushu Association, which was set
up as an umbrella organization to regulate martial arts training. The Chinese State Commission for
Physical Culture and Sports took the lead in creating standardized forms for most of the major

William Faulkner s `` A Rose For Emily ``
While authors like Edgar Allen Poe and Stephen King are known for their creepy writings, William
Faulkner has achieved a level of disturbing that is hardly reached in short stories. A Rose for Emily is
a story that shows how the insanity of one woman is able to shock an entire town, even in death.
When first reading A Rose for Emily, anyone can see how twisted Emily Grierson is. Not only for the
fact that she was sleeping in the same bed as a corpse, but because this was not the first time that she
had kept a dead body in her house. While her family does have a history of mental instability, stating
that, remembering old lady Wyatt, her great aunt, had gone completely crazy at last (section II), she is
able to out do the impossible and create an aura of mystery that surrounds her both during life and
death. After reading this story, it makes the audience question not only the reasoning that Emily has
behind not only killing Homer, but keeping his body trapped in her house up until she met death as
well. It also brings to attention how much the townsfolk actually influenced the progression of
insanity that caused Emily and those around her, so much turmoil. For example, if the townsfolk had
not used Emily as a source of entertainment and gossip, would she have stayed the recluse? While, the
townsfolk are not to blame, it makes readers wonder: what if? Another question that I had while
reading this story is, who was the narrator? The narrator, whoever they are, is able to

As We Know The Family, Is Considered The Core Unit Of...
As we know the family, is considered the core unit of society, is subject today to a series of changes,
changes that have always existed, but are now presented in a more practical and faster than before.
During the different stages of family development, the family faces different critical moments in the
evolutionary cycle, involving both individual and family changes, which may constitute a period of
crisis. In this case, we have a family of African Americans, in which we can denote that the
relationship between one and the other influences the behaviors and feelings of each one of its
members, where all act as a whole but each one interacts individually. Where there are communication
and trust to express themselves, but there are still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In every family, it is normal that problems or problems arise in each member that compose it. Each
one has its own character and tastes, and sometimes it is not easy to reach an agreement and respect
each other s decisions for this family to function properly. We have two problems that this parent
seems to be difficult to deal. On the one hand the recent diagnosis of their child John with Attention
deficit / hyperactivity disorder (HDAD). Moreover, the news of the transsexuality in her daughter
Mary, who in both problems are or can be bigger if they are not treated with understanding and
support, the parent s response to their children will determine the way forward to have a functional
family development.
Many parents take their sons and daughters to psychological therapy because they understand that
perhaps a therapist or behavior specialist can make their son or daughter back to normal. Moreover, it
is a fact that the parents experience frustration, sadness, disappointment, but above all, they have a
guilty feeling that it sends them to look for the faults in which they could incur during the education of
their children.
In our present society, which is identified by its complexity, instability and above all by the speed with
which social changes occur, it precipitates in many cases the processes of maladaptation, exclusion,
and marginalization. For a functional family to know that a child is having problems, the first

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Models Of Communication
5.1 Introduction
Communication is an integral part of human existence. Communication decides the very identity of
human beings. Modern society is turning into an information society and communication is the
exchange of this information. Communication is a process basically concerned with sharing or
transferring information from a Sender to a receiver with the use of a medium in which the
communicated information is understood by both sender and receiver. It starts with the transmission of
message by communicator and end with receiver s feedback. Models of Communication are
conceptual models used to explain the communication process in humans. They can be graphically
represented for easy comprehension of their process. In communication model, ... Show more content

Cascading model
 Introduction
The Cascade Communication Process downloads team deliberations to all organizational levels. At the
same time, it uploads the organization s reactions, suggestions, alternatives, and ideas back to the team
and all without elaborate technology. The benefit of this dynamic two way communication is that
teams truly become interactive bodies that tap into the creativity of the whole organization.
 Process
Cascade communications work by sending messages down the chain from senior executives or
Executive Board to senior managers. They in turn pass the message to their junior managers and then
through every layer of management through to the workforce. Research shows that staff likes to
receive information via their managers; this approach utilizes that personal approach.
Let s understand this example:
Senior managers or Executive Board meet to discuss the messages they want to see broadcast
throughout the organization
These are then discussed with the internal communications team (or HR) and the messages developed
Senior managers then call together all their direct reports and brief them, this process of reporting
down occurs until everyone in the organization has received the

Deng shared a room with elder brother Zhou who was six years his senior and leader of the Socialist
Youth League of China in France. Together with Cai Hesen, who in 1918 had co founded the New
People s Study Society in Changsha, and Li Wenhai, later a political commissar of the Red Army
during the Long March, Zhou Enlai had founded the league in Montargis. In February 1922 Deng
moved there too taking work at Hutchinson s Rubber Factory. He was only in Montargis seven
months, then left to go to Chatillon Secondary School in Chatillon sur Seine, but was back working in
Hutchinson s again in early 1923. However he lost his job after only a month because of his political
activities, but he stayed on in Mantargis until June when he returned to La Garenne Colombes and
worked again as a fitter, this time in the Renault factory, where he remained until he left France.
Work and play
Life was difficult for any self financing overseas student, and was especially hard for Deng as until he
reached 18 he was getting only half pay in his various jobs. There also included spells as a locomotive
engine fireman, kitchen hand and a temporary helper in a boot and shoe factory. It seems that he did
nevertheless manage to develop a taste for certain elements of the French way of life.

Early Exposure Of Foreign Literature
Introduction Literature, has, from the time of its introduction to society, been one of the foremost tools
used for social action and change. From describing social climate and conditions to using satires to
bring about desired adjustments, literature has played a very important role in the development of
social attitudes. Albrecht s 1954 essay on the relationship between literature and society sums it up
perfectly; literature not only acts as a reflection of society but also has an influence on cultural ideals
and social stability. In this study, the aim is to concentrate on early exposure to foreign literature, that
is, literature in a language or describing a culture foreign to the participant s native language or
culture. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An individual s personality is an aspect within their constructed identity. According to a study by
Putnam, Ellis and Rothbart (2001), individual differences in personality factors as determined by the
Big Five Factor Model are present and continue to persist from very young ages. This suggests that
early influences to personality and identity are vital for their development. Most other studies on
personality development maintain personality to be in a dynamic state, never achieving absolute
stability. Environmental influences, therefore, play a big role in the development of a person s
personality. In Cattell s 16 personality factors questionnaire, first developed in 1957, Personality is
measured having been divided into 5 global factors and 16 primary ones. The factor which measures
liberalness is the primary factor Q1 or Openness to Change, wherein a high score indicates the
participant to be liberal, experimenting, analytical, critical, free thinking and flexible. A low score on
the same would indicate that the individual is traditional and highly attached to familiar values and
environments. This primary factor falls under the global factor of Tough mindedness; here, a high
score on Openness to Change would indicate that the individual or participant is open minded,
intuitive and receptive to other people. Cattell s personality factor

The commercial also tries to appeal to middle class people as the spray is inexpensive and smells
good. While, relating to the middle class individuals it also seems to portray of regular looking people.
This therefore, makes the commercial look natural and realistic to the viewer, while attracting their
attention. The framing of the image directs your attention to Susan Glenn , as if she was the only
character in the commercial. The lighting around it predict her as if she was an angel, and no one was
better than her. For example, in the ad she is seen floating across the street with firework sparks
around her, like a light to a shadow. You can tell the love that he had for her, especially when he says,
not a girl, but the girl . The bathroom scene at the end with the narrator, displays a feeling of sadness
around it, as well him also being alone. The saddening feeling at the end of the commercial where the
narrator is in his bathroom, is an indirect way of appealing to pathos in this commercial. As an
audience, you feel sorry for him, missing his chance with Susan Glenn . Therefore, of course you don

Essay on Histology Tissue Tracking
Software and hardware systems are the main source of how companies are ran today. To remain
influential in today s markets, businesses must remain flexible, and technology integrated. The
implications of not acquiring up to date technology may be the demise of a company as a whole.
While remaining technology up to date can cut cost, and implement the highest productivity of a
company helping insure satisfied customers. Business requirements thus, drive businesses to change
the way production, and customer satisfaction is met. During the integrations of a computerized tissue

The change in quality delivered, and the legality of improper diagnosis was highly considered when
creating a complete tissue tracking system, consequently creating a computerized beginning to end
electronically embedded tissue tracking system. Smart software was installed into the Lab assistant
existing PC s within the department, programmed to interface with an electronic cassette patient
information embedding machine. As patient information was retrieved singularly from the
implemented program, the specimen count, type, source, and patients name is verified by the lab
assistant, and then accepted or denied. If accepted, the cassette embedding machine would then
electronically embed the cassette with a barcode, and a number specific to that patient, and their tissue
type. The patients name, birth date, case number, and tissue type would be printed onto a label to be
placed on the patient s requisition. While another set of labels would be printed for each specimen and
part type then placed on the patient s specimen container. After this process was completed the tissue
and cassettes would then be given to the gross technician for dissection, and description. The gross
technician upon receipt would scan the label on the requisition, pulling up the patient s information,
scan the cassette in which the gross technician would like to place the tissue into, and lastly scanning

Child Rearing Young Children
Goldenberg suggested that the phase you are currently engaged in is the family with young children. It
is exciting to welcome little ones into the family system. It is also a period of major adjustment for a
family to accept young children. The family unit must expand their way of thinking and in your case
having two young children (Goldenberg Goldenberg, 2013). It is also a period of the family unit being
involved in rearing young children. In your case you have to adjust to your spouse being deployed. It
adds an extra layer of stress especially when you do not have great resource of family around to help
raise two young children while your spouse is deployed for a period of 6 to 11 months. During my

Finally, the children are developing personality. Personality is framed from both what is nurtured and
who the child is naturally. There are days when the children may be stubborn and managing daily task
proves to be difficult. As you have learned during your stage of leaving home as a young adult life is
full of opportunity and personal growth. Your children can experience your youthfulness and energy
making some fun filled moments. Transitioning into marriage and then married with children alone
and then reunited after deployment is an undertaking.
The text stated that one of the difficulties you have to consider is continuity and change (Goldenberg
Goldenberg, 2013). You have to work extremely hard to provide continuity in the midst of change.
You have to carry out daily task continually without the support of your spouse can be stressful. The
fact that you and your husband discussed future planning with so much uncertainty speaks to your

Business Process Outsourcing, or BPO, involves more routine processing of data. Ravi Aron,
Professor of operations and information management at the University of Pennsylvania s Wharton
School, said examples of BPO involve more routine functions where there is a predefined way of
doing tasks or even reaching conclusions, as in data entry, accounts maintenance and customer service
activities such as those performed at call centers. BPOs typically provide such services as setting up
bank accounts, selling an insurance policy and voice and e mail based computer support. Aggarwal
said that a higher Level of service than BPO is called Knowledge Process Outsourcing or KPO. KPO
involves high end processes such as investment research and Legal and insurance claims processing.

The Deserted House Was Warm During The Summer Night
The deserted house was warm during the summer night. Marco was exploring the house and was in
awe of how brilliant the house looked. The house was 200 years old and has been deserted since the
owners died 4 years ago, the house still had all of its decorations and furniture because the owner didn

pretty tired. Then, Out of nowhere, SMASH! He hears a loud noise downstairs. It startled him enough
to make him aware of everything. Marco decided to investigate what made the noise, and as Marco

Swimming Reflection
I was in 5th grade and school was going just fine. I had decent grades, some good friends, absolutely
no athletic ability. Just your typical 10 year old nerd. Soon, in Physical Education, we were going to
start our swimming unit. The more athletic kids loved this; needless to say, I didn t, and for one reason
and one reason only; I never learned how to swim.
When the day of the first swimming unit started, I felt scared, or perhaps that s my present emotions
getting in the way of my past emotions. We entered the locker room and equipped ourselves with our
swimming apparel and exited to the room with the pool. I could smell the chlorine in the air. Everyone
in my class was seated on a large steel bench and divided into groups; Beginner, Intermediate, and
Advanced.
Surprisingly enough, I was placed into the Intermediate group with two of my aforementioned friends.
I felt a weird sense of pride as I walked past the others waiting to be assigned to a group with my new
colleagues. Once everyone was assigned to a group, my group s instructor yelled out, Alright, get in
the water and hold onto the side! We did as we told, but what I didn t know was that the height of the
water in that area of the pool was greater than mine.
Next, he barked, Alright, we re gonna swim to the deep end and back!
At this point, the thoughts in my head probably resembled something like, What! or How do you
expect me to do that! I figured it would be best not to argue and I instead shot off the

Lost Dog Budweiser Commercial Analysis
With over thirty million views, Budweiser s 2015 Super Bowl Commercial Lost Dog has stolen the
hearts of many. Budweiser commercials are a Super Bowl tradition. This commercial in particular was
somewhat of a sequel from the previous 2014 Super Bowl commercial. Both starred a small golden
Labrador puppy, a Clydesdale horse and possibly the horse trainer or owner. Each year Budweiser is
faced with the challenge of topping the previous year s commercial. An example would be in 2013,
they told the story of the bond between the horse and its trainer. The next year, they added a puppy.
Budweiser s Lost Dog relies heavily on connections for conveying its message and appeals strongly to
the emotions whether it be the music, the idea of a lost puppy, or in through the powerful friendships.
Throughout the entirety of the commercial, Budweiser does not seem to go out of their way to
advertise for their beer. The Budweiser logo only appears twice in the whole one minute commercial,
on the hat of the owner and then at the very end of the commercial. A truly great advertiser is able to
convey a message without clearly stating it. Instead they rely solely on the connections that can be
made throughout the commercial. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People want to know what happens in the end. This strategy is very efficient because it allows for the
advertiser to get a whole minute of attention of all their viewers. The hook that Budweiser uses to pull
in their viewers is the friendships between the horse and the little puppy. It is not directly stated but it
is implied through body language, sound effects, and different angles. This bond keeps pulling the two
together and it tells a story of these two friends who were separated and then they finally find each
other and are happy again. This is something that many people can relate to which is also a very smart
strategy. They make it relatable and therefore easier to understand and much more

The Jeff Kennet Gargoyle is above the Eastern Transept. When you look up you will see two strange
faces carved in stone! One is a lion, the other is a man.
Gargoyles in Gothic Cathedrals were once thought of as protecting the building from evil spirits, they
also serve as water spouts.
For years Jeff Kennet (a former premier) was rumoured to have been the model for the gargoyle, as
the facial features are so similar. Tom Carson (the master stonemason) said, just a whim but in keeping
with a centuries old tradition .
Mr Carson also said that stone makers use lots of people in positions of power as muses for their

It took Mr Carson 6 weeks to make the gargoyle. Around the cathedral you will also notice lots of
other gargoyles resembling animals or creatures.

The Theory Of Alcoholics Anonymous
Made a Beginning Group (MAB) of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) was observed in the efforts to link
course readings and class lectures to real life group work. MAB was observed on October 14, 2015, at

facilitator showed deviations from the normal group practices discussed in the class of Group

Factors That Influence Human Resource Management
UNIT 7 RESEARCH PAPER
The Factors that Influence Worker Motivation that are Under Manager s Control
Why compliance with Human Resource law is an important part of doing Business?
Define Human Resource Management
PROBLEM
What are the Factors that Influence a Worker s Motivation that can be Controlled by the Manager.
ANSWER
There are factors that exist in a company that can be controlled by the manager that directly affect the
level of motivation of the employees either negatively or positively.
1. Four Factors of Motivation Brian Tracy
According to Brian Tracy, there are Four main factors that managers can do to motivate anyone, in any
organization.
Leadership style. This is a key factor in determining how people feel about the company and how
motivated they are. The appropriate leadership style depends on the goals and objectives of the
organization, the people within the company, and the external environment.
The Reward system. If you want more of something in an organization, simply increase greater
rewards for that behavior. If you want less of an activity in an organization, simply reduce the rewards,
or increase the punishment or disapproval for that behavior. People respond to incentives.
Organizational climate. Is your company a great place to work ? The organizational climate is
deliberately created and maintained by management. It largely consists of the way that people treat
each other up and down the line. It starts at the top, with leaders who inspire and set the tone for the
rest of the organization.
The structure of the work. Some work is inherently motivational, requiring creativity, imagination, and
high levels of energy. Work that involves communicating, negotiating, and interacting with other
people in order to gain their cooperation to get the job done quickly and well brings out the best
energies of the individual.
2. Servant Leadership Theory: Development of the Servant Leadership Assessment Instrument R.

Howl s Moving Castle
HOWL S MOVING CASTLE FILM REVIEW:
Howl s Moving Castle, a Walt Disney Studio and Studio Ghibli production, made in 2004, is mutli
award winning movie. It is rated PG and is based on a novel by Diana Wynne Jones, Howl s Moving
Castle is directed by Hayao Miyazaki and is produced by Toshio Suzuki. Howl s Moving Castle is set
in an unknown, magical realm possibly inspired by the twentieth century. Miyazaki is known for his
anime type drawing style also evident in his other movies such as Spirited Away (2001), My Neighbor
Totoro (1988) and The Wind Rises (2013).
Throughout the movie we follow one of our main characters, Sophie as she follows in search of a
powerful wizard by the name of Howl to help her break free of a curse put onto her by the Witch of
the Waste. A terrible, ghastly, vile creature who is in love with Howl and wants his heart as it Belongs

These techniques are evident in the scene where we see an opening of Madame Suliman
acknowledging Sophie to come and take a seat as Sophie had come to talk about Howl. Hayao uses a

sitting under Madame Suliman s personal table and Madame Suliman telling Sophie that Heen is her
errand dog . Hayao also uses a low angle shot when Sophie is fed up with Madame Suliman s
behavior towards Howl and stands up to defend him. The low angle shot is used to show Sophie with
a powerful and strong attitude to make the viewer notice that she is dominating, demanding and is in

WHY HAS TERRORISM BECOME SUCH AN IMPORTANT ISSUE OVER THE LAST 40
YEARS?
There are many reasons why terrorism has become such an important issue over the last 40 years. In
this paper I will be exploring the answers to this question through three related topics; 1) the threat
from terrorism; 2) why people join terrorist groups and; 3) dealing with terrorism. I will be using the
sources provided and historical facts related to three groups; the IRA, the PLO and Al Qaeda.
Section 1 The threat from terrorism
Terrorism has been defined in many ways and not everyone agrees with any one definition. The UK
government defines it as: The threat of, for the purpose of advancing a political, religious or
ideological cause, of action which involves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although both are personal opinions, they are from opposite sides of the conflict and support each
other.
It also is well documented that the people who joined the IRA wanted Northern Ireland to be
independent just like Southern Ireland after it became independent in 1916. The IRA s own stated
aims were to defend their nation, to remove British troops from N. Ireland and to make it a part of the
rest of Ireland as one country.
People join al Qaeda for various reasons loosely connected with fighting foreign occupiers, political
motivations and religious ideology. One of the main reasons why people join al Qaeda is to fight
America and other western governments who are seen as invaders or aggressors against Muslim lands
and their populations. They also strongly focus on the US backed occupation of Palestine and the Al
Aqsa mosque (in Jerusalem) by Israel and the US troops that are based in Saudi Arabia home to the
holiest mosque in Islam. This has been supported by statements from al Qaeda itself. This is also
supported by source 10 a statement by Osama bin Laden made in 1998. After pointing out the political
and military injustices of the Americans and their allies he quotes verses from the Quran to back his
argument for Muslims to kill Americans and their allies. Source 4 is a similar statement made by al
Qaeda which further proves the motives. Whilst these are

Building Concrete Structures Of Building Solid Stone...
Materials like tile covered concrete quickly supplanted marble as the primary building material and
more daring buildings soon followed, with great pillars supporting broad arches and domes rather than
dense lines of columns suspending flat architraves. Concrete also inspired the colonnade screen, a row
of ornamental columns in front of a load bearing wall. For smaller buildings, concrete s strength freed
the floor plan from rectangular cells to a more free flowing environment. Most of these developments
are described by Vitruvius writing in the first century AD in his work De Architectura. Ancient Roman
concrete was a mixture of lime mortar, sand with stone rubble, pozzolana, water, and stones, and
stronger than previously used concrete. The ancient builders placed these ingredients in wooden
frames where it hardened and bonded to a facing of stones or (more frequently) bricks. Concrete
construction proved to be more flexible and less costly than building solid stone buildings. The
materials were readily available and not difficult to transport. The wooden frames could be used more
than once, allowing builders to work quickly and efficiently. On return from campaigns in Greece, the
general Sulla returned with what is probably the most well known element of the early imperial
period: the mosaic, a decoration of colorful chips of stone inset into cement. This tiling method took
the empire by storm in the late first century and the second century and in the Roman home joined

The Book Of Judges
Judges: What, Where, When, Why, Who?
The Hebrew word for Judge is ‫שופט‬ (Shofet). In the biblical sense, the word judge carries a much
different connotation than what may be known in today s society. The Judges of the Old Testament
were not Judges of the law ruling over courtrooms. The title Judge was derived from the sense of
judging over Israel. Judges were looked at as selected rulers, leaders, and temporary special deliverers.
They were sent by G D with the purpose of liberating the Israelites from the hands of their oppressors;
whoever that happens to be at the time. The way it is described by the Deuteronomic source is that
anyone who applied G D s judgment to foes of Israel is to be considered a Judge. As read in the
Hebrew Bible: judging is defined as standing up for the oppressed: twelve individuals meet the
requirements of being considered a Judge.
The twelve Judges are made up of Othniel, Ehud, Shamgar, Deborah, Gideon, Tola, Jair, Jephthah,
Ibzam, Elon, Abdon, and Samson; however, not all Judges are given equal attention. The book of
Judges focuses mainly on five of the Judges: Ehud, Deborah, Gideon, Jephthah, and Samson.
Ehud is a left handed Judge. In his time and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

weak and knew that he could not fight alone, but he agreed because G D was with him. Gideon burnt

No Formal Diagnostic Criteria For Postpartum Disorders And...
Introduction
Almost all countries have laws against killing of infants, but most give special consideration if the
child is less than 1 year old, or if the woman can be shown to be depressed or mentally ill. Many
infant deaths are never investigated and never charged because the cause of death is unclear SIDs,
accident, etc. If a doctor signs off as natural causes, it is unlikely that it will go any further.
U.S. law does not allow for reduced charges in the first year and a woman who kills her child is
generally charged with homicide. If convicted she faces a long prison sentence or even the death
penalty. Although she can plead not guilty by reason of insanity, there are no formal diagnostic criteria

Fortunately, in each of these cases, the baby was rescued and survived without apparent serious injury,
but given the opportunity to hand over a baby to a fire station, church or hospital without any
questions asked or penalty imposed, one cannot help but wonder what social forces drive these young
women to harm or abandon their babies?
This paper will discuss the reasons why a young woman might feel unable to keep her baby/child. We
will discuss the legal ramifications of these choices and what other countries do. Finally we will make
policy recommendations regarding changes to US law.
Why a Woman Would Kill Her Child
There are many reasons why a woman would give up a child including her health, the child s health,
parental pressure, economics, and social, cultural and religious taboos. While in the U.S., having a
baby while unmarried has become relatively common, and many families accept an out of wedlock
baby readily, many others do not. There are young people who are too afraid to admit the situation to
their parents and others who are simply not in a position, either financially or mentally, to raise a
child.
Neonaticide almost always occurs on the first day after birth (Friedman, Kavney and Reskick, 2012).
It is generally linked with a hidden pregnancy and possibly denial of both pregnancy and child. In
these cases, the mother rarely gets prenatal care and may deliver in secret. According to

Pros And Cons Of Creating The Budget
I was assigned to cut the budget for year 1 and year 2 by $750,000 (total of $1.5 million over 2 years)
by the CEO. I took a comprehensive look at the budget and my recommendations are that we should
cut the number of participants from 1000 to 910 and let go of 3 staff members. These reductions
would have a cascading effect and help us to cut the budgets of both years by 750,000 dollars.
I believe that the quality of our program is more important than the number of participants we serve.
Consequently, I propose to
decrease the number of participants by 9% (90 participants) for year 1 and year 2. This cut would
cause minimum harm to the program because we would be able to serve the other 910 participants
without decreasing services, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Subsequently, helping us reach our desired program outcomes. The average cost of a certification is
$75 and for our initial budget, we assumed that half of the participants would get these certifications.
In our new budget, this ratio would be maintained, however as we have fewer participants, we would
only need to budget for 455 certifications decreasing our budget by $3,375 for year 1 and year 2.
Another important service that our program offers is background checks. These checks help increase
the number of placements and retentions. Our initial budget reflected that each background check
costs $50 and approximately half of the participants would require a background check. The new
budget for year 1 and year 2 would still maintain the same ratio but due to a decrease in participants,
we would only need to budget for 455 participants. This would help us cut the budget by $2,250 for
year 1 and year 2 without harming the program.
Career advisors are an essential part of our program. Career advisors transitional help participants
during their transitional employment, which is usually for the first 4 6 months of the program. My
recommendation would be to fire 2 of these advisors as this would allow us to decrease our budget by
$80,000 for year 1 and 2. Currently, these advisors serve 500 participants and their maximum
participants to staff ratio is 35:1. Our initial budget

Middle Ages Manorialism
When the Roman Empire ended, Europe was thrown into a period filled with new societies and ways
of life. Many rulers were in control of land and there was no centralized government or leader. Their
political structure took a step backwards with systems such as feudalism and manorialism, and the
kingdoms were extremely unstable. But later, Kings became more powerful, the economy and trade
improved, and nation states began. There were many different leadership styles and rulers during the
Middle Ages.
After the fall of the Roman Empire, Europe needed stability, so feudalism began. Feudalism impacted
the military and political structures of this time. In this system, everybody had their own place.
Owners of large tracts of land (kings and lords) gave some of their land away to knights and nobles
known as vassals in exchange for protection and loyalty, and many of these vassals became lords of
lands by giving land to less powerful vassals. Many people in this system were both lords of land and
vassals, and people were still respected as vassals. Even a king might be a vassal; John of Britain was
vassal to King Philip of France for certain French lands, yet he in no way thought himself inferior to
Philip. (History world.org)
Another structure in the Early Middle Ages was Manorialism. While Feudalism shows the ... Show

Why Some UK Companies are Reluctant to Invest in Training...
Explain why some UK companies are reluctant to invest in training and development. Do you
consider these reasons to be valid?
The rapid development of technology and in other areas have led companies ability to replicate
products more easily, and the rapidly expansion of the service sector has led the nature of consumers
to demand high quality at the lowest prices. Both of these highlight the importance of gaining the
competitive advantage through the labour force. A method through which a company could obtain this
edge, is through training and development of their various skills. Its implementation and management

Training was also seen to enhance job motivation under certain conditions: there was a practical use to
the training and this had been clearly depicted to them (Heyes, Stuart).
Alternatives to T D are to poach employees from other rivals, or acquire employees through the
expensive recruitment and selection process who has the requisite skills required premium must be
paid.
The former is a large barrier to the T D initiative as the benefits accrue to the company and the
employee. The rival can potentially poach your trained employees. This is known as the Prisoner s
Dilemma, due to which many companies in the UK do not invest in human resource development
(Sisson, Storey). The use of temporary or outsourced employees will not only be harder to train as
they may deemed unworthy of investment due to their movement ability, they may be not able to
provide the high quality service. Though companies outsourcing their call centres seem to be
providing them the necessary service. But these operators in India cannot replicate the highly
customer orientated service that British call centres can provide i.e. speaking to Yorkshire people in
their own dialects this would require training. Employees are going to become trained whether the
initiative is taken or not as with time they will gain tacit knowledge and they will pick things up by
sitting next to Nellie over time. This is very inefficient, and a focused

Role of electronic and print media in promoting awareness: Any policy to gain momentum must have

Analysis Of John Gardner s Beowulf
John Gardner offers an alternate interpretation of the old english epic Beowulf by narrating the
experiences of the monster Grendel, after whom the book is named. Grendel conveys himself as a
homicidal, ravenous beast, only capable of destruction and chaos. Therefore, one can conclude that
Grendel is indeed evil, and that he well deserves the cessation of his existence. However, depending
on the philosophical ideologies and the relative perspective one finds self in, they may conclude
differently. Nevertheless, the reader may likely to find one s self both sympathizing with, and scorning
Grendel, because, as the 10th century old english monster says, balance is everything .
Evil, like many other things we humans take as absolutes, is ultimately a matter of perspective.
President Barack Obama once said ...evil is senseless. It s beyond reason . Senselessness immorality
often coincide in topics surrounding evil. However, as many philosophers and political thinkers alike
question, what defines morality ? A Nihilist may think that all values are baseless and that nothing can
be known or communicated , nor would one have [any] purpose, other than, perhaps, an impulse to
destroy (Pratt). Grendel has a nihilistic epiphany early in his life, when he narrates I understood that
the world was nothing: a mechanical chaos of casual, brute enmity on which we stupidly impose our
hopes and fears (Garder 21 22). Grendel also performs a plethora of destructive acts in the novel,

uses to which consumers can put McDonaldization, using its products and procedures to serve their

economy, family, as well as religion and military that our society can reverse the effects on the way we
live. Take for instance the schools and classrooms across the world. In Virginia Beach the school
system are based on the SOL(Standards of Learning) testing that has taken control and prevents our
children from getting a good education, this is designed to solely grade the school on how many kids
move up to next level it is not the importance of teaching and educating. We as parents should be more

The Mathematics Involved in Deciphering A Crime Scene
Introduction
Though one may assume that the logistics involved with deducing the events that occurred at a crime
scene merely involve the reasonable deduction skills of an individual, in reality adequate results can
only be achieved through the use of certain mathematical methods. For this particular investigation,
the examples deal with a homicide case where it is known that there was only one shooter and one
victim. In order to analyze blood patterns and determine a time of death, the Pythagorean Theorem
and Newton s Law of Cooling must be utilized. This exploration is important to my future as an
attorney with a focus on homicide cases. It will be important to discover the uncertainties associated
with each of these methods, as they appear quite simple to begin with.
Proving the Pythagorean Theorem
In an effort to fully understand the Pythagorean Theorem, I must first examine a method used to
derive the formula. Whilst I examined several different methods, I was confused as to how a person
could think of such strategies. This method was first derived by Bhaskara. I used this proof, because it
best connects with the crime scene situation at hand. The use of multiple triangles and squares mimic
the makeup of a room.
Bhaskara s Proof: I decided to manipulate Bhaskara s method and make it more understandable for my
usage.

The Matrix And The Allegory Of The Cave
The Matrix and the Allegory of the Cave focus on one central idea: What is real?. They engage the
audience in a fictional world where people live in false realities without knowing it. They make us
question our own knowledge. Their storylines connect in that the protagonist discovers that everything
he knows is a big lie and now he must discover the truth. The protagonist is thrown all of the sudden
into the real world and then, he continues to seek the absolute truth. Neo and the prisoner inquire
whether knowing the truth is a blessing or a curse. The Matrix itself is very comparable to the cave
because both are prisons of false reality. Humans are trapped and manipulated by their
surroundings.Their senses are tricked and they can t recognize the truth. In the Allegory of the Cave,
people have been in this dwelling since childhood, shackled by the legs and neck. Thus they stay in
the same place so that there is only one thing for them to look that: whatever they encounter in front of
their faces. But because they are shackled, they are unable to turn their heads around. Just like the
prisoners, Neo is chained to a bunch of machines who blind him from the real world. In the film,
Morpheus says: Like everyone else, you were born into bondage, kept inside a prison that you cannot
smell, taste, or touch. A prison for your mind . Neither the prisoners or the people living in the Matrix

The Purpose of Propaganda in Today s Society
Propaganda in today s society serves the same purpose as it did many years ago, and that purpose is to
promote a fitting solution to a problem or to sell an idea or item. There are various types of
propaganda in the world. The main way that propaganda is advertised would be the media. Whether it
be television, newspapers, radio etc . the promoter advertiser will always find a way to promote their
idea or product. You also have seven basic sections or types of propaganda; transfer, testimonial,
glittering generalities, plain folks, bandwagon, name calling and card stacking. Each of these is used
in propaganda whether it is current and modern art forms such as Nike™ commercials or from 100
years ago in political cartoons. Each of the seven types of propaganda differs and is unique in their its
own way. Propaganda is, has always been, and shall continue to be, a huge part of the advertising
world of society.
Transfer is a type of propaganda in which the media utilizes a person or object that people find good
natured or intriguing, and they associate the person or object with a product. In this form of
propaganda, symbols are constantly being utilized. Most political campaign promotion posters contain
the transfer category. Some ads such as icy hot and cleaning products use well known people or well
known people s names to promote their product. Take Shaquille O Neal s commercials for the Icy Hot
patches for example. People pay attention to the ad because they see that

idea of government intervention with the welfare of its citizens was challenged. Funding was cut for

LEASING
A lease transaction is a commercial arrangement whereby an equipment owner or Manufacturer
conveys to the equipment user the right to use the equipment in return for a rental. In other words,
lease is a contract between the owner of an asset (the lessor) and its user (the lessee) for the right to
use the asset during a specified period in return for a mutually agreed periodic payment (the lease
rentals). The important feature ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In such transactions ownership of goods is transferred to a finance company at a discounted price, and
the company hires out and then sells those goods to the buyer.
A hire purchase agreement is defined in the Hire Purchase Act, 1972 as peculiar kind of transaction in
which the goods are let on hire with an option to the hirer to purchase them, with the following
stipulations:
a. Payments to be made in installments over a specified period.
b. The possession is delivered to the hirer at the time of entering into the contract.
c. The property in goods passes to the hirer on payment of the last installment.
d. Each installment is treated as hire charges so that if default is made in payment of any installment,
the seller becomes entitled to take away the goods, and
e. The hirer/ purchase is free to return the goods without being required to pay any further installments
falling due after the return.
Hire purchase should be distinguished from instalment sale wherein property passes to the purchaser
with the payment of the first instalment. But in case of HP (ownership remains with the seller until the
last instalment is paid) buyer gets ownership after paying the last instalment.
Advantages of hire purchases
1. Spread the cost of finance Whilst choosing to pay in cash is preferable,. A hire purchase agreement

Unisex And The Utilitarian Ethical Dilemma Essay
Tanisha Stidwell PHI 240 0001FA Mr. Beltran, Julian Nov. 6, 2016
Unisex and the Utilitarian
In today s society exists the ethical dilemma referred to as unisex which can be actively described as
the direct efforts to blur the line separating male from female. According to most, this is done to
further the idea of equality between men and women. But to others it is a moral concern that
ultimately could be detrimental to the members of the affected society. Avoiding a consequence such
as this would thusly mean promoting the ideas encapsulated within the moral frame of Utilitarianism.
This essay will showcase the problem with unisex and its relationship to the utilitarian. It, however, is
necessary, first, to elaborate on the topic of unisex to better define and emphasize its problematic
features. Unisex is defined as: (Adjective) of, designed, or suitable for both sexes; not distinguishing
between male and female; undifferentiated as to sex. Or (Noun) The state or quality of being unisex,
also referred to as Gender Blindness . This term unisex is used in opposition to the act of Gender
Specification, which is the separating of labels or items boy or girl, for Women or for Men. Though
the term unisex was popularized in the early 1960 s, the demand for things to be categorized as such,
grew exponentially in the early 2000 s and peeks in 2016. This is due to the growing influx of people
verbalizing and arguing their disapproval over gender specification, parents especially.

Santa Claus
The Beginnings of Santa Claus The evolution of the figure known as Santa Claus can be traced
through religious, mythological, and cultural portrayals all the way back to the fourth century. It is
amazing how the legend of Santa Claus has grown and evolved throughout history. And even more
exciting how he has became a modern day icon during the Christmas season. What do you think of
when you hear the words: strings of lights, carolers, snow, cookies and milk? Most often Christmas
right? More often Santa Claus. Every boy and girl has felt the joy of Christmas eve, having family
time, putting out treats for Santa, and then tossing and turning unable to sleep growing evermore
restless about Santa s arrival. Although most know what Santa ... Show more content on

it was said that his body gave off a sweet smelling scent. This kept his boy incorrupt and cured the
sick. His remains were taken to Bari, Italy in 1087 where it was said to still perform miracles. The
pure spirit and intentions of Saint Nicholas are to thank those for inspiring the Christmas holiday. To
begin with, Saint Nicholas that was his name to start with is about the most overworked saint who
ever existed (Myers). All of this hard work and dedications made Nicholas stand out and held
influence over our beloved image of Santa Claus. Saint Nicholas is one of the many characters that
bloomed into Santa Claus. However, some of the legendary figures are fictional. One interpretation of
Santa Claus is displayed by L. Frank Baum in The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus. In this story,
Santa Claus was a child left in the wood and was force to grow up among the immortal creatures of
the surrounding forest of Burzee. The abandoned baby was adopted by a wood nymph called Necile.
She raised him and love him as her own child. Let him be called Claus, answered Necile, for that
means a little one. Rather let him be called Neclaus, returned the Queen, for that will mean, Necile s
little one (Baum). As Claus aged, he didn t understand why he was different and so he ventured out
into the world in order to find his origins.

Spectral Band Replication in Audio Coding
Spectral Band Replication (SBR) is a novel audio spectrum recovery technology, it can greatly
improve the efficiency of perceptual audio coding compression, and thus more suitable for streaming
media applications with limited bandwidth. It will be widely used in the world of digital broadcasting,
the third generation mobile communications, multimedia downloads, video on demand and other
services. SBR use parametric coding technique that involves complex algorithms; simply take a long
time by the hardware circuit design. And this design cannot keep up with the constant development of
audio standards. In other words: When a new standard integration into the decoder, it takes a long time
to complete the new circuit design, the original method will no longer have a market value. Be
achieved only using the software in power consumption and cost requirements are higher for portable
applications with limited competition. With the increasing complexity and diversity of multimedia
signal processing requirements, hardware and software co design concept has been widely applied to
the actual design. The two main reasons why Spectral Band Replication can fit our needs are: First,
SBR is capable of reproducing the high frequency band by using the correlation information which
transmitted along with the low frequency band. Therefore, we can save the bits which were reserved
for coding high frequency band without actually lost the high frequency signal. Second, it is more

Racial Disparities And Discrimination In Boyz In The Hood
Discrimination has created racial disparities and segregation; as a result, many neighborhoods that
have been labeled as the hood have primarily black residents. Unfortunately, children born into these
neighborhoods suffer a predisposition to violence, drugs, and gang affiliation due to patterns of
violence and the lack of adequate resources. The movie Boyz in the Hood portrays the struggles
experienced by young black men as they grow up in the ghetto of Los Angeles. This movie accurately
depicts the patterns of violence and crime, lack of adequate resources, and government corruption
found within many poor, segregated neighborhoods.
A battlefield of violence and crime exists among segregated neighborhoods, especially for young
black men. According to the movie, 1 out of every 21 black American males will be murdered in their
lifetime. Within these neighborhoods, people are consumed by poverty and hatred which results in an
ongoing cycle of violence among the members of the community. Even young children are exposed to
violence and crime, and many of them participate in criminal behavior. In the beginning of the movie,
a group of ten year old children were walking through their neighborhood and witnessed an area
where a man was shot. One of the boys said I m not afraid to get shot, both my brothers are shot and
they still alive . According to an article by Zimmerman Messner (2013) urban youths have a 50% to
96% chance of witnessing a shooting or hear gun shots in

For much of my life I have felt I have just been going through the motions, not living my life to the
fullest. I have dreams that have gone unrealized, and a few regrets, and this film speaks to that
condition. In a kind of quirky way, this film cries out for each of us to live the life we ve always
wanted. Get involved with those around us. Too often we become mired down in day to day minutia,
and by the time we shake ourselves awake, more years have passed than are still left for us to live.
When I saw this film was an option for this assignment, I was thrilled. I have recommended this film
to friends and family, the casting is perfect, the music scores the film perfectly, the story is quirky and
a bit off center, and it all combines into in a truly great

Biographical Summary Of Leo Tolstoy
Biographical Summary of Leo Tolstoy Count Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy is the full name of the
renowned author Leo Tolstoy, who was born on September 9th in 1828. His more common English
name is well known all over the world as one of the best authors of all time. Count Lev was born on
an estate in the province of Tula in Russia. He grew up in the lap of luxury only available to the
dvorianstvo or the Russian nobility. Tolstoy was the youngest of four children of the Princess
Volakonsia and Count Nikolay Tolstoy. Tolstoy as a child lived in wealth, but had been moved around
quite a bit in his youth. Drama, death, and tragedy interwove in the early life of Tolstoy. The death of
his mother had completely changed the path he went on in life. At the young age of two his mother
had passed away. His father in his time of grief sent his children to live with a distant relative whom
could take care of them. Sent to live with his Aunt Madame Ergolsky Leo Tolstoy s Aunt became his
main caregiver in his young life, but his Father did not abandon him till the age of nine. Consequently,
his Father was murdered while he was on a trip of some sort. Moreover, with the death of his Mother
and Father Tolstoy s Aunt became the sole legal guardian of him and his siblings. However, the
problems his childhood held he still had many opportunities available to him in his later life. Leo
Tolstoy is known today as wildly intelligent person and author. Though in his college years and many

Privatization of Airports
PRIVATIZATION OF AIRPORTS
Conceptual Understanding of the term Privatization
Privatization is a generally a process through which the ownership and control of a government entity
is transferred to a private entity. The transfer can be either in whole or partial. Different connotations
of the term privatization as enumerated in various articles and journals are as follows :
1. Movement of an entity from the federal government to a local or quasi governmental agency where
a private sector mode would be used.
2. Political policy of the national government.
3. Government entity which is partially owned by private sector.
4. Transfer of state owned enterprises to private economic agents in order to gain the benefits
occurring under private ownership.
5. Contracting out of service delivery to private organisation.
6. Policy of structural change that might cause state owned enterprises to behave like private firms.
7. Expansion of Private sector participation without ownership.
8. Private Sector Financing.
Anne Graham in the book Managing Airports has clearly demarcated the differences between Airport
Commercialisation and Airport Privatization as follows: Airport commercialization: The
transformation of an airport from a public utility to a commercial enterprise and the adoption of a
more businesslike management philosophy. Airport privatization: The transfer of the management of
an airport, and in many cases the ownership as well, to the private sector by a variety

Race In The Last Of The Mohicans
The issue of race is an important idea in The Last of the Mohicans and can be shown through the
characters view of a person and obedience and goodness and intelligence and how they act. Each
character has a different perspective and how it affects them. It can affect how people are treated and
whether they are seen as intelligent or not. Also, there could be inter Indian racism with the Mohicans
towards the Huron s or vice a verse which we will see affecting everyone else as time goes on.
Our first question is does race determine whether a character is good or bad? In the book, we see the
Mohicans who are of a different race and yet they are still a noble and just race, but we also have the
Huron who are bad and are attacking the Mohicans.

Symbolism in The Glass Menagerie Essay
Symbolism in The Glass Menagerie
From the beginning, the figure of the narrator shows that Williams play will not follow the
conventions of realistic theater. The narrator breaks the conceptual quot;fourth wall quot; of
naturalistic drama by addressing the audience directly. Tom also tells us that he is going to give the
audience truth disguised as illusion, making the audience conscious of the illusory quality of theater.
By playing with the theme of memory and its distortions, Williams is free to use music, monologues,
and projected images to haunting effect. Tom, as narrator, tells the audience that the gentleman caller
is a real person‹more real, in many ways, than any other character‹but he also tells ... Show more

The qualities of glass parallel Laura s characteristics: like the tiny glass animals, she is delicate,
beautiful in her oddness, terribly fragile. The little collection, like Laura, in an entity that is locked
completely in the realm of the home. The animals must be kept on a little shelf and polished; there is
only one place where they belong. In a similar way, Laura is kept and cared for, dependent on her
mother and brother for financial support. The Blue Roses are another important symbol of Laura. The
image of blue roses is a beautiful one‹and it is the image that is on the screen at the start of Scene
Two. But blue roses are also pure fantasy, non existent in the real world. Laura, like a blue rose, is
special, unique even, but she is also cut off from real life. When Tom accidentally breaks some of the
pieces in the glass menagerie, the incident foreshadows Laura s heartbreak later on in the play. The
event emphasizes the collection s fragility, and so metaphorically we are reminded of Laura s fragility.
Tom is the one responsible, and the pain of his position is made clear. As much as he would like to live
his own life, his actions have a great effect on the well being and security of his mother and sister. By
being reckless, he destroys the pretend world of his sister. Later on, he chooses to live his own life
rather than live up to his responsibility for her security.
One of the play s important themes is the conflict between

One of these details that is shown in both the beginning and end of the film is the use of mason jars. The beginning the camera moves into a storage container where we see the shelves are stock full of mason jars filled with fruit, dried and perserved roots and berries. This is juxtoposed greatly to the end of the film when you see Ben with five brown paper bags packing lunches for his children as they are going off to school. Fan tzi (Tumbling or Eight Flash Boxing) is recognized by its compact, short hand striking methods for which many southern systems are well known. Subsequently, during the Qing Dynasty (1644 1912 AD), the Chu family martial arts were brought to Fujian as well, which eventual evolved into the Southern Mantis style. As we can see throughout this nine hundred year period, the Hakka were already starting to influence the martial arts in the southern region. During the beginning of the cultural revolution, teaching a fighting art was no longer tolerated however, since Mao s troops knew little about the Hakka masters, they weren t persecuted and were able to continued teaching underground. A number of years after outlawing the fighting arts the government realized that it may have acted in haste and risked losing a good part of their history and culture by banning martial arts. They decided to allow kung fu, but only the forms (kata) portion as well as trying to standardize the arts just as they do in gymnastics. Combat techniques were not taught as they didn t want to take a chance on any uprisings if the people acquired fighting skills. • 4. William Faulkner s `` A Rose For Emily `` While authors like Edgar Allen Poe and Stephen King are known for their creepy writings, William Faulkner has achieved a level of disturbing that is hardly reached in short stories. A Rose for Emily is a story that shows how the insanity of one woman is able to shock an entire town, even in death. When first reading A Rose for Emily, anyone can see how twisted Emily Grierson is. Not only for the fact that she was sleeping in the same bed as a corpse, but because this was not the first time that she had kept a dead body in her house. While her family does have a history of mental instability, stating that, remembering old lady Wyatt, her great aunt, had gone completely crazy at last (section II), she is able to out do the impossible and create an aura of mystery that surrounds her both during life and death. After reading this story, it makes the audience question not only the reasoning that Emily has behind not only killing Homer, but keeping his body trapped in her house up until she met death as well. It also brings to attention how much the townsfolk actually influenced the progression of insanity that caused Emily and those around her, so much turmoil. For example, if the townsfolk had not used Emily as a source of entertainment and gossip, would she have stayed the recluse? While, the townsfolk are not to blame, it makes readers wonder: what if? Another question that I had while reading this story is, who was the narrator? The narrator, whoever they are, is able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moreover, the news of the transsexuality in her daughter Mary, who in both problems are or can be bigger if they are not treated with understanding and support, the parent s response to their children will determine the way forward to have a functional family development. Many parents take their sons and daughters to psychological therapy because they understand that perhaps a therapist or behavior specialist can make their son or daughter back to normal. Moreover, it is a fact that the parents experience frustration, sadness, disappointment, but above all, they have a guilty feeling that it sends them to look for the faults in which they could incur during the education of their children. According to a study by Putnam, Ellis and Rothbart (2001), individual differences in personality factors as determined by the Big Five Factor Model are present and continue to persist from very young ages. This suggests that early influences to personality and identity are vital for their development. Most other studies on personality development maintain personality to be in a dynamic state, never achieving absolute stability. Environmental influences, therefore, play a big role in the development of a person s personality. Marco decided to investigate what made the noise, and as Marco left the room, he grabbed a rusty driver from the golf clubs in the room he was in. He slowly made his way down the stairs with the golf club held like a baseball bat, ready to swing at who or whatever made that noise. • 16. Swimming Reflection I was in 5th grade and school was going just fine. I had decent grades, some good friends, absolutely no athletic ability. Just your typical 10 year old nerd. Soon, in Physical Education, we were going to start our swimming unit. The more athletic kids loved this; needless to say, I didn t, and for one reason and one reason only; I never learned how to swim. When the day of the first swimming unit started, I felt scared, or perhaps that s my present emotions getting in the way of my past emotions. We entered the locker room and equipped ourselves with our swimming apparel and exited to the room with the pool. I could smell the chlorine in the air. Everyone in my class was seated on a large steel bench and divided into groups; Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Surprisingly enough, I was placed into the Intermediate group with two of my aforementioned friends. I felt a weird sense of pride as I walked past the others waiting to be assigned to a group with my new colleagues. Once everyone was assigned to a group, my group s instructor yelled out, Alright, get in the water and hold onto the side! We did as we told, but what I didn t know was that the height of the water in that area of the pool was greater than mine. Next, he barked, Alright, we re gonna swim to the deep end and back! At this point, the thoughts in my head probably resembled something like, What! or How do you expect me to do that! I figured it would be best not to argue and I instead shot off the ... • 17. Lost Dog Budweiser Commercial Analysis With over thirty million views, Budweiser s 2015 Super Bowl Commercial Lost Dog has stolen the hearts of many. Budweiser commercials are a Super Bowl tradition. This commercial in particular was somewhat of a sequel from the previous 2014 Super Bowl commercial. Both starred a small golden Labrador puppy, a Clydesdale horse and possibly the horse trainer or owner. Each year Budweiser is faced with the challenge of topping the previous year s commercial. An example would be in 2013, they told the story of the bond between the horse and its trainer. The next year, they added a puppy. Budweiser s Lost Dog relies heavily on connections for conveying its message and appeals strongly to the emotions whether it be the music, the idea of a lost puppy, or in through the powerful friendships. Throughout the entirety of the commercial, Budweiser does not seem to go out of their way to advertise for their beer. The Budweiser logo only appears twice in the whole one minute commercial, on the hat of the owner and then at the very end of the commercial. A truly great advertiser is able to convey a message without clearly stating it. Instead they rely solely on the connections that can be made throughout the commercial. In ... MAB was observed on October 14, 2015, at 6:00 pm. with fourteen people in attendance. The open support group meeting was located at the First Unitarian Church of Orlando on East Robinson Street and was led by one facilitator. MAB and the facilitator showed deviations from the normal group practices discussed in the class of Group Dynamics and Process. However, some familiar therapeutic factors such as Instillation of Hope, Imitative Behavior, Universality, Group Cohesiveness, and Catharsis were evident in the group s dynamics. The observation techniques included the point of view of an observer, a hypothetical point of view as facilitator, and the observer s reaction. Together, these observations suggest that even though MAB does not follow standard group procedures; therapeutic and helping factors occur relatively routinely. Define Human Resource Management PROBLEM What are the Factors that Influence a Worker s Motivation that can be Controlled by the Manager. ANSWER There are factors that exist in a company that can be controlled by the manager that directly affect the level of motivation of the employees either negatively or positively. 1. Four Factors of Motivation Brian Tracy According to Brian Tracy, there are Four main factors that managers can do to motivate anyone, in any organization. Leadership style. This is a key factor in determining how people feel about the company and how motivated they are. The appropriate leadership style depends on the goals and objectives of the organization, the people within the company, and the external environment. The Reward system. If you want more of something in an organization, simply increase greater rewards for that behavior. If you want less of an activity in an organization, simply reduce the rewards, or increase the punishment or disapproval for that behavior. People respond to incentives. Organizational climate. Is your company a great place to work ? The organizational climate is deliberately created and maintained by management. It largely consists of the way that people treat each other up and down the line. It starts at the top, with leaders who inspire and set the tone for the rest of the organization. The structure of the work. Some work is inherently motivational, requiring creativity, imagination, and high levels of energy. Work that involves communicating, negotiating, and interacting with other people in order to gain their cooperation to get the job done quickly and well brings out the best energies of the individual. 2. One of the main reasons why people join al Qaeda is to fight America and other western governments who are seen as invaders or aggressors against Muslim lands and their populations. • 23. Building Concrete Structures Of Building Solid Stone... Materials like tile covered concrete quickly supplanted marble as the primary building material and more daring buildings soon followed, with great pillars supporting broad arches and domes rather than dense lines of columns suspending flat architraves. Concrete also inspired the colonnade screen, a row of ornamental columns in front of a load bearing wall. For smaller buildings, concrete s strength freed the floor plan from rectangular cells to a more free flowing environment. Most of these developments are described by Vitruvius writing in the first century AD in his work De Architectura. Ancient Roman concrete was a mixture of lime mortar, sand with stone rubble, pozzolana, water, and stones, and stronger than previously used concrete. The ancient builders placed these ingredients in wooden frames where it hardened and bonded to a facing of stones or (more frequently) bricks. Concrete construction proved to be more flexible and less costly than building solid stone buildings. The materials were readily available and not difficult to transport. The wooden frames could be used more than once, allowing builders to work quickly and efficiently. On return from campaigns in Greece, the general Sulla returned with what is probably the most well known element of the early imperial period: the mosaic, a decoration of colorful chips of stone inset into cement. • 24. The Book Of Judges Judges: What, Where, When, Why, Who? The Hebrew word for Judge is ‫שופט‬ (Shofet). In the biblical sense, the word judge carries a much different connotation than what may be known in today s society. The Judges of the Old Testament were not Judges of the law ruling over courtrooms. The title Judge was derived from the sense of judging over Israel. Judges were looked at as selected rulers, leaders, and temporary special deliverers. They were sent by G D with the purpose of liberating the Israelites from the hands of their oppressors; whoever that happens to be at the time. The way it is described by the Deuteronomic source is that anyone who applied G D s judgment to foes of Israel is to be considered a Judge. As read in the Hebrew Bible: judging is defined as standing up for the oppressed: twelve individuals meet the requirements of being considered a Judge. The twelve Judges are made up of Othniel, Ehud, Shamgar, Deborah, Gideon, Tola, Jair, Jephthah, Ibzam, Elon, Abdon, and Samson; however, not all Judges are given equal attention. I took a comprehensive look at the budget and my recommendations are that we should cut the number of participants from 1000 to 910 and let go of 3 staff members. These reductions would have a cascading effect and help us to cut the budgets of both years by 750,000 dollars. I believe that the quality of our program is more important than the number of participants we serve. Another important service that our program offers is background checks. These checks help increase the number of placements and retentions. Our initial budget reflected that each background check costs $50 and approximately half of the participants would require a background check. The new budget for year 1 and year 2 would still maintain the same ratio but due to a decrease in participants, we would only need to budget for 455 participants. This would help us cut the budget by $2,250 for year 1 and year 2 without harming the program. Career advisors are an essential part of our program. Career advisors transitional help participants during their transitional employment, which is usually for the first 4 6 months of the program. My recommendation would be to fire 2 of these advisors as this would allow us to decrease our budget by $80,000 for year 1 and 2. • 27. Middle Ages Manorialism When the Roman Empire ended, Europe was thrown into a period filled with new societies and ways of life. Many rulers were in control of land and there was no centralized government or leader. Their political structure took a step backwards with systems such as feudalism and manorialism, and the kingdoms were extremely unstable. But later, Kings became more powerful, the economy and trade improved, and nation states began. There were many different leadership styles and rulers during the Middle Ages. After the fall of the Roman Empire, Europe needed stability, so feudalism began. Feudalism impacted the military and political structures of this time. In this system, everybody had their own place. Owners of large tracts of land (kings and lords) gave some of their land away to knights and nobles known as vassals in exchange for protection and loyalty, and many of these vassals became lords of lands by giving land to less powerful vassals. Many people in this system were both lords of land and vassals, and people were still respected as vassals. Analysis Of John Gardner s Beowulf John Gardner offers an alternate interpretation of the old english epic Beowulf by narrating the experiences of the monster Grendel, after whom the book is named. Grendel conveys himself as a homicidal, ravenous beast, only capable of destruction and chaos. Therefore, one can conclude that Grendel is indeed evil, and that he well deserves the cessation of his existence. However, depending on the philosophical ideologies and the relative perspective one finds self in, they may conclude differently. Nevertheless, the reader may likely to find one s self both sympathizing with, and scorning Grendel, because, as the 10th century old english monster says, balance is everything . Evil, like many other things we humans take as absolutes, is ultimately a matter of perspective. President Barack Obama once said ...evil is senseless. It s beyond reason . For this particular investigation, the examples deal with a homicide case where it is known that there was only one shooter and one victim. In order to analyze blood patterns and determine a time of death, the Pythagorean Theorem and Newton s Law of Cooling must be utilized. This exploration is important to my future as an attorney with a focus on homicide cases. Unisex And The Utilitarian Ethical Dilemma Essay Tanisha Stidwell PHI 240 0001FA Mr. Beltran, Julian Nov. 6, 2016 Unisex and the Utilitarian In today s society exists the ethical dilemma referred to as unisex which can be actively described as the direct efforts to blur the line separating male from female. According to most, this is done to further the idea of equality between men and women. But to others it is a moral concern that ultimately could be detrimental to the members of the affected society. Avoiding a consequence such as this would thusly mean promoting the ideas encapsulated within the moral frame of Utilitarianism. This essay will showcase the problem with unisex and its relationship to the utilitarian. It, however, is necessary, first, to elaborate on the topic of unisex to better define and emphasize its problematic features. Unisex is defined as: (Adjective) of, designed, or suitable for both sexes; not distinguishing between male and female; undifferentiated as to sex. Or (Noun) The state or quality of being unisex, also referred to as Gender Blindness . This term unisex is used in opposition to the act of Gender Specification, which is the separating of labels or items boy or girl, for Women or for Men. To begin with, Saint Nicholas that was his name to start with is about the most overworked saint who ever existed (Myers). All of this hard work and dedications made Nicholas stand out and held influence over our beloved image of Santa Claus. Saint Nicholas is one of the many characters that bloomed into Santa Claus. However, some of the legendary figures are fictional. One interpretation of Santa Claus is displayed by L. Frank Baum in The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus. In this story, Santa Claus was a child left in the wood and was force to grow up among the immortal creatures of the surrounding forest of Burzee. The abandoned baby was adopted by a wood nymph called Necile. She raised him and love him as her own child. Let him be called Claus, answered Necile, for that means a little one. • 43. Spectral Band Replication in Audio Coding Spectral Band Replication (SBR) is a novel audio spectrum recovery technology, it can greatly improve the efficiency of perceptual audio coding compression, and thus more suitable for streaming media applications with limited bandwidth. It will be widely used in the world of digital broadcasting, the third generation mobile communications, multimedia downloads, video on demand and other services. SBR use parametric coding technique that involves complex algorithms; simply take a long time by the hardware circuit design. And this design cannot keep up with the constant development of audio standards. In other words: When a new standard integration into the decoder, it takes a long time to complete the new circuit design, the original method will no longer have a market value. Be achieved only using the software in power consumption and cost requirements are higher for portable applications with limited competition. With the increasing complexity and diversity of multimedia signal processing requirements, hardware and software co design concept has been widely applied to the actual design. The two main reasons why Spectral Band Replication can fit our needs are: First, SBR is capable of reproducing the high frequency band by using the correlation information which transmitted along with the low frequency band. Therefore, we can save the bits which were reserved for coding high frequency band without actually lost the high frequency signal. Second, it is more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Symbolism in The Glass Menagerie Essay Symbolism in The Glass Menagerie From the beginning, the figure of the narrator shows that Williams play will not follow the conventions of realistic theater. The narrator breaks the conceptual quot;fourth wall quot; of naturalistic drama by addressing the audience directly. Tom also tells us that he is going to give the audience truth disguised as illusion, making the audience conscious of the illusory quality of theater. By playing with the theme of memory and its distortions, Williams is free to use music, monologues, and projected images to haunting effect.
