Ausiological Differences In Emotional Processing In...
Although there is a continuous debate, it is commonly assumed that emotion recognition difficulties
are present in individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) (Uljarevic Hamilton, 2013). In this
review several neuroimaging (fMRI) and electrophysiological (EEG) papers of facial processing are
reviewed in attempt to explore neurological differences in emotional processing in people with ASD
(Table.1)
There are relatively few studies carried out measuring electrophysiology, specifically the event related
potentials (ERP) compare to fMRI studies, in the field of emotional processing. ERP is measuring
current cortical activity, while fMRI subcortical activity e.g. amygdala. The use of eye tracking
devices in fMRI studies allow to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Predominantly all fMRI studies show reduced activity in amygdala area, area associated with
emotional processing, including FER (Ashwin, Baron Cohen, Wheelwright, O Riordan Bullmore,
2007; Pelphrey, Morris, McCarthy LaBar, 2007) and neutral face processing (Hadjikhani, Joseph,
Snyder Tager Flusberg, 2007). Reviewed Corbett et al. 2009 findings are consistent with the majority,
while Dalton et al. 2005, same as Monk et al., 2010 did found higher activation in amygdala (see table
3). Interestingly, Monk et al. 2010, to insure participants attended to faces, did use an attention cueing
paradigm (Monk et al., 2010). Overall, evidence suggests that there is decreased automatic activation
of amygdala when emotional faces are processed, although there is a possibility of this be due to
diminished attention to faces (Harms, Martin Wallace, 2010).
Previously reported increase in attention load (Wang, Dapretto, Hariri, Sigman Bookheimer, 2004)
may help to explain the amount of variance in left amygdala activation between AS (52%) and control
group (3%) and right anterior fusiform, AS (56%) versus control group (22%) (Dalton et al., 2005).
Nevertheless, abnormalities in ASD during FER can be observed in variety of brain regions apart from
FG and amygdala e.g. cerebellum (Critchley et al., 2000), inferior frontal gyrus (Greimel et al., 2010),
orbito frontal and medial frontal cortices (Loveland, Steinberg, Pearson, Reddoch Mansour, 2008).

Sea Venture In The Tempest
As described in the Arden edition of The Tempest, despite its beautiful visual wonders, not so much
happens (Vaughan 2) in this relatively short Shakespearean play. However, it had become a symbol of
the English Explorations during Shakespeare s life time a period of geological, governmental, and
artistic discoveries. In this regard, the story of Sea Venture through the Bermuda islands, is very often
told, since it is the inspiration of The Tempest. The story and the play are very closely related that a
significant part of the story made it into the writing of the play. The story becomes a candid example
of England during the Age of Explorations the people wondering about life in their colonies, the
sailors bringing back the shocking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Frankly, it is very difficult to see peace and even civilized manners in the English society back then.
People would argue every time, though they survived an enormous accident together; stealing each
others goods were so prevalent; the place where they thought was safely colonized had, in fact, almost
completely disappeared. However, we, as people from 2015, would be able to understand
Shakespeare, who insisted to make this disastrous story as a play, because the story itself is so
fascinating. It, ironically, is a great pleasure to see the English struggling to face the new world
coming at them. It seems like their trait of willing to discover makes the story interesting. It is how
they are not avoiding the challenges that make us want to see more about how they are going to
overcome those challenges and engages us further into the story. This perhaps is the reason why the
story is so often told until these days. It gives us a clear idea about what lives were like in the Age of
Explorations during England how they were struggling, but desiring. In this regard, it isn t strange for
us to wonder if Shakespeare merely wanted to retell this journey. Shakespeare must have been
impressed after reading Strachey s writings. It perhaps was written in the hopes that the readers could
take away something from the English back then from their open, active attitudes towards challenges.

Reflection Paper On Special Education
For my observation, I was at Randolph Elementary in Ms. Heim s fifth grade class. I spent two and a
half hours, twice a week, for three weeks at Randolph. Throughout my time at Randolph, I was able to
observe many different exceptionalities. Because each of the fifth grade teachers teach a particular
subject, the students rotate between classrooms for instruction. This allowed me to observe students in
two of the classes. I was there during their writing/spelling time. I was able to observe Ms. Heim s
class for an hour a half each day I was there and Ms. Thompson s class for an hour every day I was
there. There were seven students I was able to observe, all with different exceptionalities. During the
first couple days of my observation, I was unable to identify the students in Ms. Heim s class that had
any exceptionalities. It wasn t until one day that Ms. Heim was gone that I noticed a student, Eddie,
had a behavior problem. Eddie was acting out and calling the special education teachers names
because he did not want to go to the resource room for math. After discussing this with Ms. Heim the
next day, I found out that Eddie does not like change. I also learned that Eddie has an IEP for behavior
problems and learning disabilities. Ms. Heim said Eddie s learning disabilities and behavior problems
came from a brain injury when he was younger and because he has had a very rough childhood. I also
learned that when the fifth grade teachers met before the school year started to

Just from the title of this article the audience can raise many questions. Towards whether their own
opinions on the article would be true or false.
The imagery that 4 Corners has produced in this text really forces the audience to visualise the
traumatic event that unfold on the teenage girl. An extract from the article quotes a teenage girl was
dragged through the town square to her final destination before the ending of her life. In the minds of
the audience it creates a dreadful scene of pain and anger, and immediately images flow into the
audience of skin scrapping against the ground, the screeching screams from the young girl and the
oblivious faces of the onlookers. This illustrates to the audience the oppression of female rights by the
humility of the dragging which presents the audience to feeling that this young teenage girl is
unworthy of being in her own country or on earth at all.
The western audience has a certain stereotypy of the Taliban, with authors knowing this fact the texts
have been manipulated for the audience response to the text by using various techniques to enhance
the audience view on the Afghanistan culture, mostly highlighting the negative aspects of the Taliban.

Choosing Between Online and In Person Teaching Positions
Filbert College/traditional teaching position. The first question that I find to be helpful is the one about
optional summer classes. The reply is that they often do not have enough enrolled students to allow
everyone to work in the summer time. I find this helpful since I would be a new educator, and not
have that much seniority. If by chance I did want to teach summer classes, I would likely not be able
to.
The second question in the traditional college application I find to be helpful is, the one about class
size. Since the answer to this question is 150 200 students, that would have a huge impact on my
decision. I have never worked with a class of this size, and grading 200 ten page papers, would be a
pain. Not saying that I could not, but it may be difficult. The advanced classes on the other hand, are a
lot more reasonable in size.
Johnson online college questions. The question that I find helpful is again, class size. Since the class
size is around 20 30 students, this is much more reasonable, and feasible. At least for my current
teaching ability. The next question that I find to be helpful is about research. The college requires you
to continually do research, but they have funding programs for this, so that is very helpful. ... Show

Sports In Sports
Introduction
The primary object of sports is, of course, exercise, but sports have a far greater impact on the
wellbeing of many besides physical health. Introducing new opportunities for youth, sports create
unbreakable bonds, build athletes characters, unite communities, and promote teamwork.
Undoubtedly, sports can positively impact many children of all ages. As children grow older and
become more athletic, parents and athletes may consider specializing in one sport to maximize the
athlete s chance of earning a scholarship for college; furthermore, almost every youth athlete, myself
included, dreams of becoming a professional athlete one day, so they will do anything to achieve that
goal. On the contrary, specializing in one sport may have the opposite effect. Depriving themselves
from diverse environments, specialized athletes are excluded from valuable lessons that are beneficial
for sports and life. Specializing in one sport today is not merely playing one season of a sport, but
specialization is intensely concentrating on one sport year round. For this reason, athletes should play
multiple sports because focusing on one sport all year does not produce the same benefits as playing
multiple sports throughout the year. Most athletes, including myself, would probably agree that they
love more than one sport, and if this is the case, then athletes should participate in every sport they
love. After all, the purpose of sports is not to earn money or to become famous but to

Ancient Japan Influence
Ancient Chinese influences in modern day Japan
China. Throughout the ages, China has proven to be a country that has a society that is unique in the
known world. Culturally, politically, China has its own way for everything, and this way has spread
across the globe. In modern day, China has distinctive influences in the Western world, but the spread
of Chinese civilization started in the surrounding Asian countries. Almost all countries were reached
by land and were handed the Chinese ideas through war; all but one. Japan was unreachable by land,
so the Chinese relied on their scholars, merchants and monks to bring their ideas to this island. The
way the information was transferred to Japan ,however, also ensured that the way the new Chinese ...

During this period, called the Yayoi epoch, Japan started to indulge in several new things, ranging
from iron working to art. Artwork was mostly based on the ruling Shinto belief, but the arrival of
Chinese monks in the 6th century came with a new religion called Buddhism. Buddhism was an
important factor in the influence the Chinese civilization had in Japan. Buddhist monks were
considered high standing men in China; this was because of the fact that after the chaotic Han dynasty,
Buddhism brought peace to the populace of China, both farmers and the new ruling warlords.
Buddhism was first introduced in Korea, and reached the Japanese emperor through scriptures sent by
a Korean ruler who tried to persuade him to implement this religion in society. This was followed by
intense debate within the island which lasted for more than half a century, but eventually, in the late
580 s, it was officially adopted as the standard religion in the Yamato ruled domains, and once this
was declared, Yamato rulers started their propagandistic campaigns in order to popularize it among
their subjects. Although the Buddhist religion was the official religion in these areas, the peasants and
elites refused to fully discard Shintoism, which led to the side by side growing of both Buddhism and

How Will The Nationalist Immigration Policies Of Hungary...
How will the nationalist immigration policies of Hungary impact the rest of Europe?
My thesis for this paper is that Hungary s foreign policy views on the migration crisis that currents
exists throughout Europe is very drastic. These policies can also been seen as a direct reflection of the
extremist nationalist views of Viktor Orbán (the current President of Hungary) and his right wing
party, Fidesz. This concept shows how the personality and psychology of an individual leader can
affect a state s foreign policy. This extremist view, as shown by Hungary, is spreading across Europe.
This then brings into question a lot of European Union standards, and may even cause the downfall
and collapse of the Schengen Agreement. The international ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In addition to this, there has been large prejudices against the migrants due to crime accusations. The
result of such events is the rise of nationalist extremist parties in Central and Eastern Europe. A prime
example of this is within Hungary. Hungary has been quite vocal about its opposition to accepting
refugees and other migrants. These statements were made by Hungary s leader Viktor Orbán who has
been known to have very extreme views on other social issues. The result of Hungary s statements
concerning immigration is an epidemic of other countries having similar views which will contradict
the Schengen Agreement. The Schengen Agreement is one of the foundations of the European Union
so removing or adapting said intuition would seriously affect the European Union. In this paper I will
analyse the international system in which these foreign policy directions have been made whilst
examining how Viktor Orbán s personality and psychology has a direct influence on the decisions
made by Hungary and the history of the migration laws of the European Union.
International system
As explained in the introduction, the events that occurs in the international system can have a direct
influence on the foreign policy. This is due to the fact that the nature of the international system can
limit the capacity in which a country can make decisions. Ryan Beasley et al (2013) explains this to be

Abstract
This paper compares and contrasts the concepts found on John P. Kotter s, Leading Change (1996),
book and the concepts presented by John M. Ivancevich, Robert Konopske and Michael T. Mattenson
s Organizational Behavior and Management text book. Kotter emphasizes in each step the importance
of dealing with human emotions and how to better manage them when dealing with organizational
change. The biggest asset to an organization is their human resources. To an organization this simply

The people that are leading the efforts are in charge of making changes that should result in a more
effective organization in terms of organizational strength. This step can be compared to Ivancevich et
al. s concepts of teams and changing attitudes.
The guiding coalition should act as a synergetic team as described by Ivancevich et al. This team
should be formed by individuals who are one hundred percent committed and dedicated towards the
goal of organizational change. They should be skilled in leadership, problem solving and emotional
roles (P. 259). The emotional role will be discussed more in depth when presenting the changing
attitudes concept. Forming a guiding coalition is an essential component for undertaking a restructure,
reengineer or to retool strategies (Kotter, 1996, P. 52).
Kotter mentioned the integrity or trust factor as a main component to altering employees negative
attitudes and motivating them towards change. The concept presented by Ivancevich et al. on changing
attitudes includes the communicator, the message and the situation factors (this analysis will only refer
to the first two factors). The communicator factor relates to employee s willingness to change attitudes
because they like and trust their manager (guiding coalition), they can even tend to adopt attitudes and
behaviors of that individual (Ivancevich et al, 2007, P.69). Within the message factor, the guiding
coalition

Altissimo Range Research Paper
The altissimo range is something many saxophonists keep tinkering with even after years of playing.
It s among the biggest frustration points of any new sax player and the reason many feel like giving
up.
But before you pack your saxophone permanently to its box, try the following tips. While mastering
the altissimo range will never be easy, it is possible and you will get there!
Lay a Solid Foundation
Don t venture into the world of the altissimo range before you are able to play the entire range with
proper volume control. You want to play the entire range both very softly and very loud.
Make sure you also include proper ear training to your playing. You need to be able to hear the
different notes and the variations. Listen to sax music regularly to improve your skills.

Start from the easier once such as the low Bb and the middle Bb and move on to middle F, high Bb, D
and F. Keep practicing until you feel comfortable.
You might need to focus on your embouchure while you play, so make sure you try different things to
see what makes it easier to hit the right notes. Altissimo range requires great control of the
embouchure, so pay attention to it.
Experiment with Fingerings
There is no ultimate truth to fingerings for altissimo notes. It is possible to play them with very
different fingerings and you want to try out different options in order to find the one that works the
best.
You can find different fingering charts online. If the first one doesn t feel comfortable, move onto the
next one pick the one that feels the most natural to you.
One Note at a Time
Don t try to master the whole altissimo range at once. It s much easier to take it step by step and focus
on a single note at a time.
Most often the quest start with the high G. But wait? Isn t the F# the first altissimo note? Yes, but it s
not as difficult to get and most modern saxophones have a special F# key already in

Atlanta, Ga Vacation Spots Essay
Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. I have been to many places like Paris, France, and many
other places, but one of my favorite places to go to is to Atlanta, Georgia. In Atlanta, there are many
places to go and sights to see. For example, Six Flags, Stone mountain Park, and the Atlanta Braves
Stadium, are all in or near the city of Atlanta. These places are family oriented and are easy to get to
by a car, or a bus.
Six Flags is a theme park that has anything from sweet treats to fun rides. Six Flags provides many
things for all ages to do and enjoy. You also can see famous cartoon characters, such as Bugs Bunny,
walking around the park. Teenagers and adults who have strong stomachs might enjoy riding the huge
roller coasters. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My favorite activity is the laser show. The laser show takes place on the mountain. Stone Mountain
Park is also a main focal point for the 1996 Olympics.
Lastly, is the exciting Atlanta Braves Stadium, I spent most of my time there when visiting Atlanta.
The stadium is always packed with rowdy Braves fans wearing various forms of Atlanta Braves t
shirts, hats and of course THE foam fingers. The crowds are just as fun to watch as the actual game
itself. They get into the game by hollering and cheering for the Braves to win the game. There are
many concession stands that serve hot dogs, pizza, nachos, and cold drinks. It is fun to see all of the
players dressed in their uniforms, they all looked like they were excited to play. The coaches were
helping some of the players on the field and going over plays. The coaches seemed more anxious to
get the game started. The field itself was so green and the dirt was so clean looking. The Braves games
have been more interesting over the past couple of years.
In conclusion, there are many places to visit in Atlanta. The most exciting ones include Six Flags,
Stone Mountain, and the Atlanta Braves Stadium. Each one offers various forms of fun for all ages.
For instance, Six Flags offer kiddie rides as well as rides for the older children and adults. Stone
Mountain Park offers horseback riding and laser shows. Lastly, the Braves Stadium offers great food
and famous autographs. Everyone should visit the city of

Dictatorship Vs Dictatorship
What is government? How does it affect me? Why should I care? What is the best kind of
government? These are the questions people ask every day. These are questions that potentially impact
us as people. People have asked What is the role of government? There has never been a definite
answer and there might never be one agreed upon answer.
What I Knew
Government. This has always been a subject that I have been very interested in. I remember when I
was a little kid in second grade and my Dad took me down to the voting booth let me go with him to
fill out his ballot. It was an experience that has stayed with me for a very long time. I remember being
told that I should always try to know what our government is doing and form my own opinions on
subject. However, I was also taught to listen to the people around me and that is what government
should be, or at least that is what a representative government is. The way our government runs effects
all of us, and in the coming future, I would like my profession to be based on the question What is the
role of government?
There are many different forms of government such as a dictatorship and democracy. These two
governments are very different from each other. There are many different sub categories in both
democracy and dictatorship. A dictatorship in my words would be a government that is ran by one or a
small group of individuals and are all powerful. A dictatorship is usually more efficient

In this study we will investigate and compare two types of course sections. One section will be online
and the other will be face to face. The investigators will analyze gender, age and learning styles. These
groups will be evaluated on how effective they were in completing the tasks of the course. The two
sections will be taught in the same semester and use the same instructional material. In this paper, the

From these research questions several hypotheses have aspired answers:
Between these two groups, no significant difference is perceived in the effectiveness of these
instructional learning styles.
There are no significant differences between the styles of instructional learning in the competencies of
this course to either group. There are no differences between the test scores and final grades for either
group.
There is no difference between the effectiveness that was perceived from the courses from either
group.
Student Selection The study selections for students were open to different ages and gender. The course
outline was the same FTF as for the OL course. The demographics for these groups show that the
students registered for the OL classes were a little older than the students registered in the FTF class
(Diaz Cartnal, 1999). Each group would be given the same instructional course outline, test, and final
project. A variable that might affect this study is whether a student selects an OL course over an FTF
course due to their experience with technology. The demographics for this group ranges with

Why Is Affordable Housing Important
Affordable housing is housing which is deemed affordable to those with a median household income
as rated by the national government or a local government by a recognized housing affordability
index. The New York City Housing Authority was created in 1935 to provide affordable housing for
New Yorkers with low and moderate income. The New York City Housing Authority is one of the
largest public housing authorities in North America and are homes to 400,000 New Yorkers who
reside across the City s five boroughs. The NYCHA provides homes to 1 in 14 New Yorkers who

Affordable housing is a key issue in New York City because affordable housing doesn t address the
needs of lower and middle income households. The people who do need affordable housing don t
qualify for it based on governmental standards and majority of the population aren t able to buy
houses at the market price. Affordable housing programs are an essential need to many hard working
New Yorkers. Affordable housing aids adults, children, and seniors in feeling secure and stable and
contributes to the mental and physical well being of New Yorkers. Something I can do to aid in the
fight for affordable housing is spread the word about it and the issues surrounding it. By spreading
information about affordable housing I d be educating my fellow New Yorkers on the housing crisis in
our state. I d also inform individuals who want to fix it how to do so through word of mouth, social
media, volunteering and maybe even fundraising. Everyone needs a place to live. Having a safe,
decent, affordable home should be a right for all, not a privilege for select few. We all need housing to

economy and for generations to come. And there s no better time than

Pros And Cons Of King Cobra
The dense forest is wet and hot, and tensions are rising. A small Indian gray mongoose, no bigger than
a cat, is choosing to fearlessly challenge a humongous king cobra, which can potentially grow to
record breaking lengths. The winner seems obvious, but both sides have several advantages, and there
have been studies about this question. There are seemingly endless possibilities of what could happen.
However, if an Indian grey mongoose and a king cobra were to engage in a fight, then I believe that
the mongoose would win because of so many advantages. Many support the mongoose, and many
support the cobra. Either way, there are many pieces of evidence that support the mongooses many
advantages. To begin, the mongoose has great attacking abilities ... Show more content on

That is very true, but easily disproven. Klum (2001) states that the cobra can produce startling
amounts of neurotoxin. However, the mongoose has thick fur, and the cobra has short fangs, so
injecting the cobra s toxic venom will be a challenge. According to Campbell (2015), cobras can
flatten their necks into a hood when threatened. However, the mongoose has the ability to fight
snakes, so it will know what the cobra is doing. Klum (2001) also states that the cobra can stand up
like a man in a terrifying pose. That is correct, but to the mongoose, size does not matter. It will
fearlessly go up against even the biggest, most intimidating snakes as if it were the size of itself. The
mongoose easily matches up with three of the cobras deadliest advantages. To conclude, many pieces
of evidence show that in the epic battle of cobra versus mongoose, the mongoose would win, no
contest because the cobra cannot even compare to the amazing mongoose. At this point, it is obvious
that if an Indian grey mongoose and a king cobra were to engage in a fight, the mongoose would win
because of all of its advantages. Now we all know that a tiny mongoose can beat and kill a ferocious
cobra, proving that size does not matter, in most scenarios, at

Explain Why The Kennewick Man Was Native American
Carl Zimmer s article, New DNA results show the Kennewick Man was Native American focuses on a
discovery made by two men wading in the Columbia River July of 1996. These two men had stumbled
upon a skull (and after later excavation a complete skeleton) of a mysterious figure over 8,500 years
old. Along with this discovery came a multitude of controversy as to where the skeleton had come
from, and thereby, who had the rights to his remains. Recent DNA testing was released this past year
that suggested that the Kennewick Man had been a Native American, contrary to other beliefs that he
had been European. However, while it may be assumed that this discovery would conclude law suits
concerning the remains, the dispute continues. Native American history is very rich and not a lot is
known about it scientifically due to the deep mistrust between Native Americans and scientists (the
Kennewick Man being a single example). Therefore new programs are being established, such as the
Summer Internship for Native Americans in Genomic, to administer training to Native Americans so
they can learn about their own history. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Obtaining A Degree In Interdisciplinary Studies
Benefits of Obtaining a Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies Interdisciplinary studies is defined as the
combination of more than one academic discipline being used or studied simultaneously. As our world
and technology continue to build and expand it is paramount that we accept the increased need for
interdisciplinary learning. This form of learning is key to solving future problems as well as
preventing them. By combining two very different areas of study students are able to learn and think
outside of the traditional academic setting. The world of technology today is much different than it
was thirty years ago, along with these changes has come a change in how teachers instruct students.
The changes have also created influence in the way students learn and process information. It is
understood within the college culture that choosing a major is equally as important as attending
college. Many college students struggle with the selection of choosing one subject matter that they
best identify with. When naturally most people do not identify with one select subject matter. It is
clearly beneficial for students to obtain an interdisciplinary studies degree because of the subject study
flexibility, the complete understanding of two majors taught throughout obtaining this degree and
endless job qualifications. Schedule flexibility is offered within an interdisciplinary studies degree
because of the mix of two majors. When working to obtain a degree in interdisciplinary

The Modal Model Of Memory
The modal model of memory was initially introduced by Richard Atkinson and Richard Shiffrin
(1968) because they believed that once data enters the brain it must either be contained or put away.
They additionally recommended that data is kept into three particular memory frameworks i.e. the
sensory register, short term memory and long term memory. This model was developed to clarify the
process of our memory, its capacity and how long the memory is able to hold a data.
Furthermore, they carried out a multi score model which described memory in terms of information
flowing via systems and this research was successful in terms of the amount of research it consisted
of. As a result, of this Baddeley and Hitch (1974) developed an alternative model of short term
memory which was also known as the working memory.
The modal model memory is an explanation as to how the memory process functions, although
William James (1890) justified a dissimilarity amid the primary and secondary memory because
primary memory comprised of thoughts which held for a short term in consciousness, whereas the
secondary memory consisted of a permanent unconscious store.
The sensory memory gathers data via our senses, ears, eyes, mouth and due to this information only
remains in store for a very small amount time, thus the model suggests that if consideration is given to
the senses then the memory exchanges to the short term capacity. An evidence of the sensory store
was provided by Sperling (1960); as

A Primary Source Of The West Indies By Henry Nelson Coleridge
The document I chose to analyze as a primary source is Six Months in The West Indies by Henry
Nelson Coleridge. This is a small journal published in 1825 that follows Henry N. Coleridge s trips
around the West Indies with his uncle, William Hart Coleridge who is a bishop of Barbados. While on
his trip throughout the isles, Coleridge not only comments on the local governments and ecosystems
but the treatment of slaves and the institution of slavery as well. His viewpoints are in no way
abolitionist, but he does appear to have a vein of sympathy for slaves of the West Indies. Many of his
viewpoints are on how society and slave owners in the West Indies could better the lives of their
slaves, none of them abolition, but for instance he suggests that one of the most effectual ways for
bettering the slaves would be thorough and humanizing education of the masters themselves (p.54).
While this argument, I feel, is not uncommon of a well educated, English, relative of a high ranking
religious official during this time period, I find it interesting to compare Coleridge s accounts of
slavery throughout the West Indies with that of an actual slave, Mary Prince, in the same region. Mary
Prince was a slave in the Caribbean, who was bought and sold to multiple owners, on multiple isles,
eventually gaining her freedom in Britain in 1828. This secondary source, The History of Mary Prince,
was transcribed by Suzanna Strickland and edited by the abolitionist who took her in, Thomas Pringle

The CEO Paying Everyone $70,000 Salaries Has Something to Hide Bloomberg Businessweek
This article interested me because I remember reading a lot in the news about the CEO who was
paying his employees $70,000, and I thought that was an extremely noble and kindhearted thing to do.
But I also remember seeing something or another about him being sued, which might have caused the
salary increases. So, to me, this article was interesting as a means to figure out what really might have
happened. However, if he raised salaries because of a lawsuit, I have to give him and his PR team
credit because they spun it expertly. He came out looking like a progressive hero, fighting for the little
guy.

Finding The Way With Service Animals Essay
Finding the Way with Service Animals
Johnny had never smiled in his entire four years of life, until July, 2015. He received a life changing
gift, a service dog trained as a companion to children with autism. His family had researched and tried
many ways to help him have an easier and more interactive life but to no avail until he got his service
dog. Improving life emotionally, physically and/or socially is the overall goal of people and/or
families with service animals.
There has been a long history with animals and their natural bonds with humans for many decades
now. Dogs have helped people with a multitude of illnesses for some time now, however Americans
were not the first to discover this natural trait in animals. The Germans during World War 1 were the
first to discover this. In the book, History of Guide Dog Use by Veterans it states that the German
army in particular relied heavily on the use of German shepherds as ambulance and messenger dogs.
The Germans reportedly used more than 25,000 dogs during World War I. these dogs were ideally
suited for this type of work, with ell known traits such as trainability, loyalty, intelligence, strength,
and endurance (Ostermeier 587). In today s society, we have numerous people who are unaware of the
services that animals can provide for humans. Specifically humans with mental or physical
disabilities. In this paper I will present various types of service animals as well as the many services
they provide.

My View On Mother Nature
I remember it very well. It was the very moment my view on Mother Nature no, the entire world had
changed. The sun was rising, the birds chirping, the cars roaming the streets. One could say it was a
beautiful day in the city of Wichita, Kansas. But soon, the seeming innocent place had changed. I
recall the silent thud of my feet pounding against the pavement as I ran for my life, the sound having
been silenced by the loud buzzing noises getting closer. The tornado had struck.
My family was in Wichita, Kansas, visiting my cousin. It was a nice sunny and slightly windy
afternoon. My best friend, Tanya Lee, and her family had come over to my house for lunch.

It was less than fives miles away, and heading towards us. We ran as fast as we could, but the tornado
was moving faster. It felt hopeless. We could see the tornado heading towards the safe house from the
other side. We had to get our families out of there safely. Then, the tornado struck the safe house, and
demolished it completely. The safe house was shattered into pieces. I felt a hand grab mine and pull
me away from the horrible sight.
We have to get away from here safely. We can come back and look for them later, Tanya whispered
urgently. I nodded, and together, we turned and raced away from the tornado as fast as possible. There
is a safe house a little away from my house. Let s head there, Tanya replied.
We reached the safe house unscathed, and I slammed the door shut behind us. The sound of our heavy
breathing was followed by an uncomfortable silence.
They ll be fine, and so will we. They were in a safe house after all, and so are we. Safe houses are
built for keeping them safe from disasters like tornadoes, Tanya said.
I think you re forgetting one little detail. The safe house they were in was made of wood! The one we
re in is made of metal, I replied. She was about to reply when, we heard a roar.
We crouched down together in the corner. The buzzing sound was getting louder until it was right
above us. I felt a huge rush of wind and dust knock into me, but then, it was over.

First Day High School

falls from the tree. As the group looks up they find it to be a brownish oddly shaped leaf has fallen
from the tree above. Once everyone notices they can consider that the leaves are now falling and the
season of fall is about to be approaching. Many Americans in the northern states tend to see leaves fall
in the months of September through November. These months always bring family and friends
together for college football games and Thanksgiving. What make these months so special are all the
fun activities going on in our busy lives. There is the beginning of school starting for Kindergartners

News Media, Athletes, And Models
Banduras social learning theory speaks to what we learn from others via observation, imitation, or
modeling. His theory encompasses our thought process and influences. Some being news media,

News media calls to attention current events. The information comes from real people who have had
their lives changed be it for good or bad. Though what is being shared might not be prevalent at the
time, it does call to attention one s stance to the situation and possible future handlings of it. News
media covers topics like teenage suicide, kidnappings, drive by shootings, etc. Because such delicate
topics are brought to light, it calls to attention one s surroundings and forces reaction. The news media
is a tool that relays stories but it is them who decide how to share them. However, it is how they do so
that impacts the story, which is why they must remain true to facts to not deter from the message.
When deterring occurs, lies spread and the topic isn t what it began as but a twist to its original. By

Book Report On The Boy Scout Troop
It was early in the year 2012 when I encountered my first craving for sleep, just before a backpacking
excursion. I was one of only two patrol leaders in my Boy Scout Troop, and I wanted to be the best
leader. I was hungry for it. My 12 year old brother, Luke, was the other patrol leader and he helped
keep a healthy rivalry between our patrols. My patrol s name was the Golden Grizzlies, and Luke s
patrol name was the Spartans. Previously, the Golden Grizzlies demolished the Spartans in every
challenge that was put in front of us, prior our last camping trip. Luke and I were discussing the
upcoming Boy Scout trip to Henry Coe in Stanislaus County during our journey home from a family
camping trip. He became exasperated, due to his frustration of losing to the Golden Grizzlies. He
ended his next sentence with, You ll see, David. This trip, things will be different. The Spartans will
eradicate all of the Golden Grizzlies. As we unpacked, he mumbled about how things were going to
change; I started to become concerned and pondered about whether or not my innocent brother would
sabotage my patrol. The night before the trip, we slept at the church that we meet at for our meetings.
This is where things really started to degrade. It was one o clock in the morning and I was beginning
my slumber, when Luke and his friend came into the sanctuary where I was camped out . They were
both hysterical and had massive tears in their eyes. I sat up, in a rather startled state, and proceeded

Benigni s Life Is Beautiful
Distance the film maintains from realistic depictions of the holocaust enables the director to use
history to remind the audience of the moral lessons that it contains. Life is Beautiful begins by stating
that it is a fable, defying genre yet still it still sets out in its goal in influencing or creating new values
and attitudes. A fable is a story often beyond reality, to provide a moral lesson. Fairy tale cannon
bookends the movie, it begins with a voiceover, This is a simple story, but not an easy one to tell. Like
a fable, there is sorrow and, like a fable, it is full of wonder and happiness. The film is closed with,

We say tiredness , fear , pain . But they are free words created by men who lived in comfort and
suffering in their homes... Benigni taps into a new aspect of history and focuses on the social attitudes
of the time and tries to impact the current state. Negative reviews claim the representation of the past
could have a detrimental impact, There is a serious point there if we see films like that, at least
subconsciously they end up giving the message that maybe it was not quite so bad after all. In his
representation Benigni was not trying to undermine the holocaust, from the beginning Benigni states
that he is depicting a fable, not a historical documentary he just wants to share moral lessons, as
mentioned before he did not want to offend Jewish people through his depiction, he wanted to show
their strength. The charge of holocaust distortion... embodies the assumption the audience s
understanding of the holocaust would be modified through their identification with the child s point of
view seems to underestimate the sophistication of the film and its audience. In representing the past
through a child s perspective Benigni aims to influence or create values and attitudes essential to the
moral consciousness post holocaust rather than accurately depict

Analysis Of Silko s Yellow Woman And Walker s Everyday Use
Heritage
Have you ever been at Christmas dinner and you were so interested and intrigued by your
grandmother s story that you wish you could place yourself in her shoes right then and there? Well
these two stories that I am going to analyze will do just that. I will prove that Silko s Yellow Woman
and Walker s Everyday Use are inherently drawn to traditions of the past. First, I will show how
identity is a common factor in both stories and plays such a large role in connecting the main
characters and their past traditions. Second, I will illustrate how both stories are linked to symbolism,
which will give proof to my claim that they are inherently drawn to their past traditions. Finally, I will
show that the use of irony plays a part in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An interesting note which I will bring up later to give proof to my claim, is that when Walker was 8
years old, she was shot in the eye with a BB gun. After the incident, she became very self conscience
and felt like she did not fit in with the world around her. This helped her find her calling in writing. As
I noted in my thesis, I believe identity plays a very significant role in both of these short stories.
Specifically, I believe identity is the primary theme which inherently draws the characters in these
stories to traditions of their past. In Silko s Yellow Woman, identity was the main internal conflict for
the yellow woman. From the story we know that the yellow woman was a daughter, mother, and a
wife. In addition, we see that the yellow woman makes references to the stories that her grandfather
used to tell her. This clearly illustrates that her heritage, culture, and family play a huge role in her life.
For example: My old grandpa liked to tell those stories best. There is one about Badger and Coyote
who went hunting and were gone all day, and when the sun was going down they found a house. There
was a girl living there alone and she had light hair and eyes and she told them they could sleep with
her. Coyote wanted to be with her all night so he sent Badger into a prairie dog hole, telling him he
thought he seen something in it. As soon as Badger crawled in, Coyote blocked

Mussolini s Economic Policy And The Success Of Benito...
Benito Mussolini seized power in 1922 when he was appointed Prime Minister, following his
infamous March on Rome. Mussolini initially expressed little to no interest in economic matters once
in office and had no coherent economic plan for Italy. Furthermore, as a former socialist, he disliked
capitalism and the free market. However, post 1922, he came to the realization that he needed a strong
economic plan to retain his office as well as to re establish Italy as a major power. Mussolini, like
many other dictators, was not an economist and so none of his policies were without their downfalls. It
can be argued that his most successful policy was the Battle for the Grain. The aim of this policy was
to create national self sufficiency in grain by encouraging farmers to use more modern machinery and

the most part were not a success. Firstly, the Battle for the Grain was aimed to create self sufficiency
in grain so that when war came Italy would not be dependent on foreign imports of cereals and bread.
This was achieved by encouraging farmers to grow grain by providing government granted modern

Usage Of Findings Of An Evaluation Essay
Usage of Findings At the conclusion of our evaluation, our team will provide you with valuable
insight into the Wish Granting process and any improvements that can be made to increase efficiency.
As stated before, we will keep your staff informed of any things we notice as we go through the
process and will submit a final written report at the conclusion of the evaluation. The final report will
have a record of all the data we collect through interviews, observations, and data analysis. We also
plan on having a presentation explaining our findings with the entire MAW GLA staff as well as any
interested stakeholders. As MAW GLA is the one commissioning the evaluation, the results will be
most applicable to the chapter and the unique issues they face. Staff members, particularly those
involved with Wish Granting and volunteer coordination, will benefit from this evaluation as they will
have an outside perspective on their roles in the chapter. Other staff members will benefit from our
study as we are evaluating resources, and may find certain needs that can be met once identified.
Externally, we believe your financial stakeholders will appreciate the evaluation. We will have
tangible numbers and stories to reassure investors that their money is going to good use. Finally,
MAW internationally will benefit from the results of the evaluation as they can take any feedback or

  • 2. Ausiological Differences In Emotional Processing In... Although there is a continuous debate, it is commonly assumed that emotion recognition difficulties are present in individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) (Uljarevic Hamilton, 2013). In this review several neuroimaging (fMRI) and electrophysiological (EEG) papers of facial processing are reviewed in attempt to explore neurological differences in emotional processing in people with ASD (Table.1) There are relatively few studies carried out measuring electrophysiology, specifically the event related potentials (ERP) compare to fMRI studies, in the field of emotional processing. ERP is measuring current cortical activity, while fMRI subcortical activity e.g. amygdala. The use of eye tracking devices in fMRI studies allow to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Predominantly all fMRI studies show reduced activity in amygdala area, area associated with emotional processing, including FER (Ashwin, Baron Cohen, Wheelwright, O Riordan Bullmore, 2007; Pelphrey, Morris, McCarthy LaBar, 2007) and neutral face processing (Hadjikhani, Joseph, Snyder Tager Flusberg, 2007). Reviewed Corbett et al. 2009 findings are consistent with the majority, while Dalton et al. 2005, same as Monk et al., 2010 did found higher activation in amygdala (see table 3). Interestingly, Monk et al. 2010, to insure participants attended to faces, did use an attention cueing paradigm (Monk et al., 2010). Overall, evidence suggests that there is decreased automatic activation of amygdala when emotional faces are processed, although there is a possibility of this be due to diminished attention to faces (Harms, Martin Wallace, 2010). Previously reported increase in attention load (Wang, Dapretto, Hariri, Sigman Bookheimer, 2004) may help to explain the amount of variance in left amygdala activation between AS (52%) and control group (3%) and right anterior fusiform, AS (56%) versus control group (22%) (Dalton et al., 2005). Nevertheless, abnormalities in ASD during FER can be observed in variety of brain regions apart from FG and amygdala e.g. cerebellum (Critchley et al., 2000), inferior frontal gyrus (Greimel et al., 2010), orbito frontal and medial frontal cortices (Loveland, Steinberg, Pearson, Reddoch Mansour, 2008). ... • 3. Sea Venture In The Tempest As described in the Arden edition of The Tempest, despite its beautiful visual wonders, not so much happens (Vaughan 2) in this relatively short Shakespearean play. However, it had become a symbol of the English Explorations during Shakespeare s life time a period of geological, governmental, and artistic discoveries. In this regard, the story of Sea Venture through the Bermuda islands, is very often told, since it is the inspiration of The Tempest. The story and the play are very closely related that a significant part of the story made it into the writing of the play. The story becomes a candid example of England during the Age of Explorations the people wondering about life in their colonies, the sailors bringing back the shocking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Frankly, it is very difficult to see peace and even civilized manners in the English society back then. People would argue every time, though they survived an enormous accident together; stealing each others goods were so prevalent; the place where they thought was safely colonized had, in fact, almost completely disappeared. However, we, as people from 2015, would be able to understand Shakespeare, who insisted to make this disastrous story as a play, because the story itself is so fascinating. It, ironically, is a great pleasure to see the English struggling to face the new world coming at them. It seems like their trait of willing to discover makes the story interesting. It is how they are not avoiding the challenges that make us want to see more about how they are going to overcome those challenges and engages us further into the story. This perhaps is the reason why the story is so often told until these days. It gives us a clear idea about what lives were like in the Age of Explorations during England how they were struggling, but desiring. In this regard, it isn t strange for us to wonder if Shakespeare merely wanted to retell this journey. Shakespeare must have been impressed after reading Strachey s writings. It perhaps was written in the hopes that the readers could take away something from the English back then from their open, active attitudes towards challenges. We, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Reflection Paper On Special Education For my observation, I was at Randolph Elementary in Ms. Heim s fifth grade class. I spent two and a half hours, twice a week, for three weeks at Randolph. Throughout my time at Randolph, I was able to observe many different exceptionalities. Because each of the fifth grade teachers teach a particular subject, the students rotate between classrooms for instruction. This allowed me to observe students in two of the classes. I was there during their writing/spelling time. I was able to observe Ms. Heim s class for an hour a half each day I was there and Ms. Thompson s class for an hour every day I was there. There were seven students I was able to observe, all with different exceptionalities. During the first couple days of my observation, I was unable to identify the students in Ms. Heim s class that had any exceptionalities. It wasn t until one day that Ms. Heim was gone that I noticed a student, Eddie, had a behavior problem. Eddie was acting out and calling the special education teachers names because he did not want to go to the resource room for math. After discussing this with Ms. Heim the next day, I found out that Eddie does not like change. I also learned that Eddie has an IEP for behavior problems and learning disabilities. Ms. Heim said Eddie s learning disabilities and behavior problems came from a brain injury when he was younger and because he has had a very rough childhood. I also learned that when the fifth grade teachers met before the school year started to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All three of these texts, The Kite Runner by khaled Hosseini, Beneath the Veil by Saira Shah and Execution of a teenage girl from 4 Corners, all explore the main ideas of an Afghanistan life from different perspectives. Just from the title of this article the audience can raise many questions. Towards whether their own opinions on the article would be true or false. The imagery that 4 Corners has produced in this text really forces the audience to visualise the traumatic event that unfold on the teenage girl. An extract from the article quotes a teenage girl was dragged through the town square to her final destination before the ending of her life. In the minds of the audience it creates a dreadful scene of pain and anger, and immediately images flow into the audience of skin scrapping against the ground, the screeching screams from the young girl and the oblivious faces of the onlookers. This illustrates to the audience the oppression of female rights by the humility of the dragging which presents the audience to feeling that this young teenage girl is unworthy of being in her own country or on earth at all. The western audience has a certain stereotypy of the Taliban, with authors knowing this fact the texts have been manipulated for the audience response to the text by using various techniques to enhance the audience view on the Afghanistan culture, mostly highlighting the negative aspects of the Taliban. We just wanted to show how much misery the Taliban policies are causing the Afghan people. Now the same policies have caused misery to the entire world . Is how Saira ... • 6. Online Teaching Position Paper Choosing Between Online and In Person Teaching Positions Filbert College/traditional teaching position. The first question that I find to be helpful is the one about optional summer classes. The reply is that they often do not have enough enrolled students to allow everyone to work in the summer time. I find this helpful since I would be a new educator, and not have that much seniority. If by chance I did want to teach summer classes, I would likely not be able to. The second question in the traditional college application I find to be helpful is, the one about class size. Since the answer to this question is 150 200 students, that would have a huge impact on my decision. I have never worked with a class of this size, and grading 200 ten page papers, would be a pain. Not saying that I could not, but it may be difficult. The advanced classes on the other hand, are a lot more reasonable in size. Johnson online college questions. The question that I find helpful is again, class size. Since the class size is around 20 30 students, this is much more reasonable, and feasible. At least for my current teaching ability. The next question that I find to be helpful is about research. The college requires you to continually do research, but they have funding programs for this, so that is very helpful. ... • 7. Sports In Sports Introduction The primary object of sports is, of course, exercise, but sports have a far greater impact on the wellbeing of many besides physical health. Introducing new opportunities for youth, sports create unbreakable bonds, build athletes characters, unite communities, and promote teamwork. Undoubtedly, sports can positively impact many children of all ages. As children grow older and become more athletic, parents and athletes may consider specializing in one sport to maximize the athlete s chance of earning a scholarship for college; furthermore, almost every youth athlete, myself included, dreams of becoming a professional athlete one day, so they will do anything to achieve that goal. On the contrary, specializing in one sport may have the opposite effect. Depriving themselves from diverse environments, specialized athletes are excluded from valuable lessons that are beneficial for sports and life. Specializing in one sport today is not merely playing one season of a sport, but specialization is intensely concentrating on one sport year round. For this reason, athletes should play multiple sports because focusing on one sport all year does not produce the same benefits as playing multiple sports throughout the year. Most athletes, including myself, would probably agree that they love more than one sport, and if this is the case, then athletes should participate in every sport they love. After all, the purpose of sports is not to earn money or to become famous but to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Culturally, politically, China has its own way for everything, and this way has spread across the globe. In modern day, China has distinctive influences in the Western world, but the spread of Chinese civilization started in the surrounding Asian countries. Almost all countries were reached by land and were handed the Chinese ideas through war; all but one. Japan was unreachable by land, so the Chinese relied on their scholars, merchants and monks to bring their ideas to this island. During this period, called the Yayoi epoch, Japan started to indulge in several new things, ranging from iron working to art. Artwork was mostly based on the ruling Shinto belief, but the arrival of Chinese monks in the 6th century came with a new religion called Buddhism. Buddhism was an important factor in the influence the Chinese civilization had in Japan. Buddhist monks were considered high standing men in China; this was because of the fact that after the chaotic Han dynasty, Buddhism brought peace to the populace of China, both farmers and the new ruling warlords. Buddhism was first introduced in Korea, and reached the Japanese emperor through scriptures sent by a Korean ruler who tried to persuade him to implement this religion in society. This was followed by intense debate within the island which lasted for more than half a century, but eventually, in the late 580 s, it was officially adopted as the standard religion in the Yamato ruled domains, and once this was declared, Yamato rulers started their propagandistic campaigns in order to popularize it among their subjects. Although the Buddhist religion was the official religion in these areas, the peasants and elites refused to fully discard Shintoism, which led to the side by side growing of both Buddhism and ... • 9. How Will The Nationalist Immigration Policies Of Hungary... How will the nationalist immigration policies of Hungary impact the rest of Europe? My thesis for this paper is that Hungary s foreign policy views on the migration crisis that currents exists throughout Europe is very drastic. These policies can also been seen as a direct reflection of the extremist nationalist views of Viktor Orbán (the current President of Hungary) and his right wing party, Fidesz. This concept shows how the personality and psychology of an individual leader can affect a state s foreign policy. This extremist view, as shown by Hungary, is spreading across Europe. This then brings into question a lot of European Union standards, and may even cause the downfall and collapse of the Schengen Agreement. The international ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to this, there has been large prejudices against the migrants due to crime accusations. The result of such events is the rise of nationalist extremist parties in Central and Eastern Europe. A prime example of this is within Hungary. Hungary has been quite vocal about its opposition to accepting refugees and other migrants. These statements were made by Hungary s leader Viktor Orbán who has been known to have very extreme views on other social issues. The result of Hungary s statements concerning immigration is an epidemic of other countries having similar views which will contradict the Schengen Agreement. The Schengen Agreement is one of the foundations of the European Union so removing or adapting said intuition would seriously affect the European Union. In this paper I will analyse the international system in which these foreign policy directions have been made whilst examining how Viktor Orbán s personality and psychology has a direct influence on the decisions made by Hungary and the history of the migration laws of the European Union. International system As explained in the introduction, the events that occurs in the international system can have a direct influence on the foreign policy. This is due to the fact that the nature of the international system can limit the capacity in which a country can make decisions. Organizational Behavior Management Concepts Kotter s Leading Change Concepts/ Organizational Behavior Management Concepts XXXXXXXX Webster University MNGT 5590 Dr. Victoria Bohrer May 11, 2011 Abstract This paper compares and contrasts the concepts found on John P. Kotter s, Leading Change (1996), book and the concepts presented by John M. Ivancevich, Robert Konopske and Michael T. Mattenson s Organizational Behavior and Management text book. The people that are leading the efforts are in charge of making changes that should result in a more effective organization in terms of organizational strength. This step can be compared to Ivancevich et al. s concepts of teams and changing attitudes. The guiding coalition should act as a synergetic team as described by Ivancevich et al. This team should be formed by individuals who are one hundred percent committed and dedicated towards the goal of organizational change. They should be skilled in leadership, problem solving and emotional roles (P. 259). The emotional role will be discussed more in depth when presenting the changing attitudes concept. Forming a guiding coalition is an essential component for undertaking a restructure, reengineer or to retool strategies (Kotter, 1996, P. 52). Kotter mentioned the integrity or trust factor as a main component to altering employees negative attitudes and motivating them towards change. The concept presented by Ivancevich et al. on changing attitudes includes the communicator, the message and the situation factors (this analysis will only refer to the first two factors). The communicator factor relates to employee s willingness to change attitudes because they like and trust their manager (guiding coalition), they can even tend to adopt attitudes and behaviors of that individual (Ivancevich et al, 2007, P.69). The crowds are just as fun to watch as the actual game itself. They get into the game by hollering and cheering for the Braves to win the game. There are many concession stands that serve hot dogs, pizza, nachos, and cold drinks. It is fun to see all of the players dressed in their uniforms, they all looked like they were excited to play. The coaches were helping some of the players on the field and going over plays. The coaches seemed more anxious to get the game started. The field itself was so green and the dirt was so clean looking. The Braves games have been more interesting over the past couple of years. In conclusion, there are many places to visit in Atlanta. These are questions that potentially impact us as people. People have asked What is the role of government? There has never been a definite answer and there might never be one agreed upon answer. What I Knew Government. This has always been a subject that I have been very interested in. I remember when I was a little kid in second grade and my Dad took me down to the voting booth let me go with him to fill out his ballot. It was an experience that has stayed with me for a very long time. I remember being told that I should always try to know what our government is doing and form my own opinions on subject. However, I was also taught to listen to the people around me and that is what government should be, or at least that is what a representative government is. The way our government runs effects all of us, and in the coming future, I would like my profession to be based on the question What is the role of government? There are many different forms of government such as a dictatorship and democracy. These two governments are very different from each other. There are many different sub categories in both democracy and dictatorship. A dictatorship in my words would be a government that is ran by one or a small group of individuals and are all powerful. The people who do need affordable housing don t qualify for it based on governmental standards and majority of the population aren t able to buy houses at the market price. Affordable housing programs are an essential need to many hard working New Yorkers. Affordable housing aids adults, children, and seniors in feeling secure and stable and contributes to the mental and physical well being of New Yorkers. Something I can do to aid in the fight for affordable housing is spread the word about it and the issues surrounding it. By spreading information about affordable housing I d be educating my fellow New Yorkers on the housing crisis in our state. I d also inform individuals who want to fix it how to do so through word of mouth, social media, volunteering and maybe even fundraising. Everyone needs a place to live. However, if an Indian grey mongoose and a king cobra were to engage in a fight, then I believe that the mongoose would win because of so many advantages. Explain Why The Kennewick Man Was Native American Carl Zimmer s article, New DNA results show the Kennewick Man was Native American focuses on a discovery made by two men wading in the Columbia River July of 1996. These two men had stumbled upon a skull (and after later excavation a complete skeleton) of a mysterious figure over 8,500 years old. Along with this discovery came a multitude of controversy as to where the skeleton had come from, and thereby, who had the rights to his remains. Recent DNA testing was released this past year that suggested that the Kennewick Man had been a Native American, contrary to other beliefs that he had been European. However, while it may be assumed that this discovery would conclude law suits concerning the remains, the dispute continues. Native American history is very rich and not a lot is known about it scientifically due to the deep mistrust between Native Americans and scientists (the Kennewick Man being a single example). • 22. The Modal Model Of Memory The modal model of memory was initially introduced by Richard Atkinson and Richard Shiffrin (1968) because they believed that once data enters the brain it must either be contained or put away. They additionally recommended that data is kept into three particular memory frameworks i.e. the sensory register, short term memory and long term memory. This model was developed to clarify the process of our memory, its capacity and how long the memory is able to hold a data. Furthermore, they carried out a multi score model which described memory in terms of information flowing via systems and this research was successful in terms of the amount of research it consisted of. As a result, of this Baddeley and Hitch (1974) developed an alternative model of short term memory which was also known as the working memory. The modal model memory is an explanation as to how the memory process functions, although William James (1890) justified a dissimilarity amid the primary and secondary memory because primary memory comprised of thoughts which held for a short term in consciousness, whereas the secondary memory consisted of a permanent unconscious store. The sensory memory gathers data via our senses, ears, eyes, mouth and due to this information only remains in store for a very small amount time, thus the model suggests that if consideration is given to the senses then the memory exchanges to the short term capacity. An evidence of the sensory store was provided by Sperling (1960); as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. A Primary Source Of The West Indies By Henry Nelson Coleridge The document I chose to analyze as a primary source is Six Months in The West Indies by Henry Nelson Coleridge. This is a small journal published in 1825 that follows Henry N. Coleridge s trips around the West Indies with his uncle, William Hart Coleridge who is a bishop of Barbados. While on his trip throughout the isles, Coleridge not only comments on the local governments and ecosystems but the treatment of slaves and the institution of slavery as well. His viewpoints are in no way abolitionist, but he does appear to have a vein of sympathy for slaves of the West Indies. Many of his viewpoints are on how society and slave owners in the West Indies could better the lives of their slaves, none of them abolition, but for instance he suggests that one of the most effectual ways for bettering the slaves would be thorough and humanizing education of the masters themselves (p.54). While this argument, I feel, is not uncommon of a well educated, English, relative of a high ranking religious official during this time period, I find it interesting to compare Coleridge s accounts of slavery throughout the West Indies with that of an actual slave, Mary Prince, in the same region. Mary Prince was a slave in the Caribbean, who was bought and sold to multiple owners, on multiple isles, eventually gaining her freedom in Britain in 1828. This secondary source, The History of Mary Prince, was transcribed by Suzanna Strickland and edited by the abolitionist who took her in, Thomas Pringle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
