The Hobbit Analysis
In the novel, The Hobbit, the author J.R.R. Tolkien, suggests when an individual pushes themselves to
explore risk taking, they take the opportunity to grow within themselves, and test the extent of their
newfound values, which result in the character fostering a stronger sense of self identity.
Accepting the opportunity to experience risk allows the individual to push themselves, despite the
possibility of danger towards oneself. In the Hobbit, the character Bilbo demonstrates risk taking most
clearly when he attempts to steal a troll s wallet after the dwarves ordered him to investigate a strange
light coming from within the forest (pg. 35). Bilbo concludes that he must prove himself to the
dwarves. To show his capability as a burglar, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Bilbo feels pity for Gollum, and decides not to kill him, he takes risks, as leaping over Gollum
may fail, causing Bilbo to fall prey to Gollum. In this situation, Bilbo pushes himself to spare Gollum
and make daring decisions, where Bilbo is not aware of the consequences. Therefore Bilbo signifies
risk taking when sparing Gollum, despite the unpredictable consequences that result from his
decisions. Lastly, Bilbo demonstrates pushing himself to take risks, despite the danger, is during when
Bilbo is chosen to survey inside the Lonely Mountain, Smaug s citadel (pg. 198 201). Bilbo
understands that he must uphold his position as a burglar, and be the first to enter the Lonely
Mountain, where Smaug inhabits. When Bilbo enters Smaug s lair, is a primary example of Bilbo s
risk taking, despite the prominent danger. Bilbo exploring Smaug s stronghold is the climax of danger
during The Hobbit. During this situation, Bilbo pushes himself greatly, to explore inside the Lonely
Mountain, in order to manifest his capability as a burglar, Bilbo surpasses his ability to take risks and
discovers the extent of his risk taking abilities. He ultimately finds greater courage within himself, as a
result of pushing himself to take risks. Bilbo knows of Smaug, who represents the great danger within
the mountains. He takes this opportunity to exceed his risk taking skills. Therefore Bilbo takes risks
by upholding his burglar responsibilities, despite facing the

Winston Churchill s Role In Ww2
Winston Churchill (pg. 82) Winston Churchill was the British Prime Minister during WWII. Churchill
formed a group cabinet of leaders from the Liberal and Conservative parties. He placed smart and
talented men in important positions. On June 18, 1940, Churchill made one of his famous speeches to
the House of Commons, warning them that the Battle of Britain was about to begin. He kept resistance
to Nazi dominance alive, and created an alliance with the United States and the Soviet Union.
Churchill had previously created a relationship with U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the
1930s, and by March 1941, he was able to obtain vital U.S. aid through the Lend Lease Act, which

At the end of the war, he returned home to Amsterdam, searching desperately for news of his family.
On July 18, 1945, he met two sisters who had been with Anne and Margot at the camp and they

Anne s diary in the annex and gave it to Otto once he returned. Later he had the journal published
under the title The Diary of a Young Girl.
The Secret Annex (pg. 22) The Secret Annex was located at the top of Otto Frank s office building. It

Cork Industry, the Wine Industry and the Need for Closure...
1 To what extent is the cork industry guilty of complacency and a lack of innovation?
The cork industry is guilty of complacency and lack of innovation because they failed to recognize the
changes in the wine industry. The wine industry was experiencing a revolution where new producers
from Australia, California and Chile had new and different requirements. It took only a matter of years
for the industry to change completely and the cork industry did not jump on the band wagon when it
needed to. It allows the competition to get the edge.
2 If consumers love corks, why are the producers not providing what their customers want?
The reason being is because the wine industry has changed significantly over the past twenty years.

5 What level of R amp;D investment would be required to help the industry diversify and develop new
opportunities for its materials?
According to our text, because the cork forests are facing environmental stress, it would require high
levels of R amp;D investment to open new opportunities for cork materials. When referring to new
opportunities it would be new items, such as, floor and wall coverings, coasters, cork board sheets,
etc. A high level of R amp;D can guarantee some sort of sustainability for the cork industry and also
remove TCA. By doing this, this can ensure growth in the company.
6 What portfolio of R amp;D projects would you establish for the cork industry?
I would try to find different things to use the cork rather than focusing on just wines. Expand in other
areas to increase production and focus and emphasis on how it is environmentally friendly. Market on
the go green and save the endanger species.
7 What role have the wine buyers (end users and others in the supply chain) played in contributing to
the fall in demand for cork as a closure?
Since we live in a fast pace life consumers tend to want thing immediately and do not want to wait for
things such as delivery time and like to purchase items in bulk and have a variety of items to choose
from. As a result supermarkets meet the demands by stocking up with large quantities and array of

Themes Of Losing My Religion
Losing My Religion
R.E.M. was an American Rock Band that formed in 1980. They are from Athens, Georgia and were
one of the first alternative rock bands. The members of the band were Michael Stipe, Peter Buck,
Mike Mills, and Bill Berry. Radio Free Europe was the first song that they released in 1981. Out of
Time and Automatic for the People were there two most successful albums. They have many songs,
but there most well known single is without a doubt Losing My Religion and it was the first single that
they released from their album Out of Time on February 19, 1991. Losing My Religion was R.E.M. s
biggest hit, the lyrics in the song go on to explore the feeling of love that is not reciprocated, and the
theme of the song is obsession.
The major theme of the song Losing My Religion is obession. It is clear that the singer is obsessed
with the girl that he is singing about because of the specific details given throughout the entire song.
Every whisper of every waking hour shows that he thinks of this girl all day long and that she is the
only thing that is on his mind all the time, but he does not know how to express his feelings towards
her. Oh no, I ve said too much states that he tried to give her hints of his true feelings towards her, but
he does not know if she picked up on those hints. I haven t said enough implies that despite the strong
feelings he has towards her, he fears that he never makes his feelings clear enough to the girl.

Existential Crisis In Hamlet
In Shakespeare s Hamlet, we are presented with a young man torn asunder after the sudden demise of
his father. There is a point in the play where Hamlet vocalizes his feelings of displacement and loss
within his world. The To be, or not to be monologue plunges the audience into the confused psyche of
Hamlet, allowing us to empathize with Hamlet s existential crisis. This window into Hamlet s
dilemma strikes the audience, it is relatable in that we all face moments in our lives where we stand
back and question our socially and self imposed roles. The ramblings of Hamlet echo through history,
and those same sentiments can be felt to this day. The true comparison lies in how we handle these
tribulations. Kafka, Franz, and Joachim Neugroschel. The Passenger. The Metamorphosis, in the Penal
Colony, and Other Stories: With Two New Stories. 1st Scribner pbk. fiction ed., New York, Simon
Schuster, 2000, pp. 40 41. In Kafka s The Passenger we are presented with an allegorical story about a
person on a trolley car, watching as life passes. In the introduction I stand on the platform of the
trolley car and am completely insecure about my footing in this world in this city, in my family. Nor
could I indicate even casually what demands I might rightfully make in any direction... we have the
entire basis of this short story. Kafka puts to words the feelings of his and his generation, feelings of
being out of place in a rapidly changing world. Shakespeare and Kafka both abided in time periods
that we re seeing social changes occurring. Shakespeare may have used Hamlet to vocalize his
feelings about being out of place in his world. Kafka used his short story The Passenger to put to
words his feelings of displacement and unfamiliarity with the world around him. Hamlet s To be, or
not to be monologue and Kafka s The Passenger show similar feelings of confusion and disassociation
from their specific worlds. Hamlet debates life and death, action vs inaction, suffering, an inability to
choose a direction; Kafka skips the debate and delves directly to the heart of the issue, a complete
insecurity with no direction in the world. Munch, Edvard. Evening on Karl Johan Street. 1892, oil on

Bird Seed Lab Report
Background There are many ways to obtain seeds to grow flowers in the springtime, but not all seeds
were created equal. Sunflower seeds, for example, can be bought at a garden store in a packet for $1.5
dollars per 6 gram packet, but they can also be found in bird seed for $3.53 dollars per 10 pounds.
This experiment intends to find if the germination of a store bought packet of sunflower seeds matches
the germination rate of sunflower seeds obtained from a bag of bird seed. While both seeds will
germinate, it is believed that the bird seed will not be as robust in growth as the garden seed, due to
the fact that the garden seed is made to be grown, while the bird seed is made for consumption.
Methods Firstly, for the setup of the experiment, two styrofoam cups were filled with two inches
worth of standard, fertilized garden soil, next four seeds from from the garden seed, and the bird seed
were placed an inch deep in separate cups. The seeds were blindly labeled, with one being labeled
group A and one being labeled group B. This was so as to efficiently conduct a double blind
experiment. The seeds were watered with approximately a teaspoon of water per day, and kept in a
sunny windowsill. They were left in the windowsill for two weeks, and watered daily. Results The

While there is some room for error, based off of the differences in students experiments, the data is
significant enough to determine which had the higher germination rate. However, this experiment
tested only the germination rate, and not the actual flowers produced by either seed. It is possible that,
while having a higher germination rate, the bird seed produces smaller sunflowers, while the garden
seed produces bigger ones. If one is purchasing seeds based solely off of germination rate or price,
however, the bird seed would be the appropriate

All these other stores offer intense competition for J.C. Penney, especially as it is revamping its image.
Industry Analysis
J.C. Penney is trying to re invent itself into the retail industry and put its name back at the front of
everyone s mind. People are trying to spend less money during this period of economic downturn and
J.C. Penney is trying to market itself to make customers loyal to their brands in order to keep them
coming back. J.C. Penney is trying to target people who will come back into the store based on the in
store brands that are available, and the consistent pricing such as middle income families. One tactic
that has been used to get families into J.C. Penney is offering free children s haircuts. Parents will
hopefully bring their kids in and then browse through the store afterward. Competition during and
after the conversion to the new store layouts and pricing will be steep. Stores like Macy s, Kohls, and
Target offer many similar products and styles to J.C Penney at similar prices. Other stores like
Nordstrom are more expensive but have very loyal customers. J.C. Penney will need to attract
customers that traditionally shop at other stores as well as bring back customers who quit shopping at
J.C. Penney and went to other stores. Without these customers there will not be enough sales to make
back the money spent on renovations, as well as on consistent pricing of merchandise.

Ideal Of Gilbert Pinfold Analysis
Ordeal of Gilbert Pinfold is an established novel of the mature years. This novel is a conversation
piece which describes the mental broke down and confusion within the life of Gilbert Pinfold . This
novel is the last novel which is written by well known writer namely Evelyn Waugh . This last book of

Waugh considered the opinion of his neighbor regarding the box as the vision of a thing which is not
present at all. In the same way, Gilbert thinks that BBC correspondent angel (object of many of his
paranoid fantasies) is utilizing The Box so as to send various voices to his office or cabin present on
the ship as per the waugh s work. These voices are just the imagination of Gilbert. Because, the voices
get stopped when he avoids to take drugs and returns from the ship to England. Thus, the voices
coming to his office are completely imaginary.
The Box has some religious significance in.regards with the old testament, The box is the ark of the
covenant containing words said by the God. Moreover, these words are related to the judaeo christian.
These small boxes containing the scrolls on which words of God are written is used by the Orthodox
Jews. In this way, The Box is a religious thing and Pinfold believed that it is negative thing which is
used by BBC correspondence so as to send the voices into his cabin on the ship.On the other hand,
Some colleagues of the pinfold think that the Gilbert Pinfold is Jewish by religion. So, It is noticeable
that Gilbert Pinfold had all the negative thoughts about the box and it is only the result of overdosage
taken by him.

Chemical Reactions And Factors That Affect The Rate Of A...
Reactions occur everywhere, and they may take decades, such as fossils, or only seconds, such as
lighting a match to occur. Chemical kinetics concerns the rates of chemical reactions and what factors
affects these rates (Iodine Clock, 2017). Temperature, concentration, pressure of reacting gases,
surface area of reacting solids and the use of catalysts are all factors which affect the rate of a reaction
(Bbc.co.uk, 2017). This is because they affect the reaction roles and yields of activation energy,
product management and reactant management (William, 2017). This is accomplished by making
changes to the concentration, pressure or temperature of a reaction to alter the position of the
equilibrium (Bbc.co.uk, 2017).
Accordingly, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was further identified that typically for every 10oC temperature rise, the reaction rate would double
(Del Mundo et al., 2016) (Clark, 2017).
Throughout the Landolt Iodine Clock Reaction, chemical equilibria are clearly demonstrated through
the delayed colour change of combining two colourless solutions to form a dark blue solution. The
overall chemical reaction for this is as follows:
2IO 3(aq) + 5HSO 3(aq) + 2H (aq) → I2 + 5HSO 4(aq) + H20(l)
Iodate ions + Bisulfite ions + hydronium ions → Iodine + Bisulfate + water (Iodine Clock, 2017)
The individual steps of the reaction are:
(1) IO3 (aq) + 3HSO3 (aq) → I (aq) + 3SO4 (aq) + 3H+(aq)
Iodate + Bisulfite → Iodide + Sulfate + Hydronium ions
(2) IO3 (aq) + 5I (aq) + 6H+aq) → 3I2(aq) + 3H2O(l)
Iodate + Iodide + Hydronium ions → Iodine + Water
(3) I2(aq) + HSO3 (aq) + H2O(l) → 2I (aq) +SO4 (aq) +3H+(aq)
Iodine + Bisulfite + Water → Iodide + Sulfate + Hydronium ions
(4) I2(aq) + I (aq) + starch → dark blue starch I3 complex
Iodine + Iodide + starch → dark blue starch I3 complex
(Iodine Clock Reaction, 2015)
The first reaction is the rate determining step, and hence, determines the order of the reaction. The
equilibria is delayed in this reaction due to any of the iodine produced, immediately reacting with any
bisulfite still present, before then being converted into colourless iodide (reaction 2). Therefore, to
demonstrate this reaction, the

The Importance Of Health And Physical Education
Health and Physical Education is a mandatory learning area in the school curriculum which provides
opportunities for all students to live healthy and active lifestyles. Schools are recognised as primary
settings for developing health related knowledge and skills. Health and physical education supports
students to enhance their own and others health. HPE is a learning area of Australian curriculum
through which students can make healthier choices. It focuses explicitly on developing movement
skills and encourage students to participate in range of physical activities. Therefore, Health and
Physical Education is a vital learning area in the school curriculum.
Health and Physical Education provides learning opportunities for students to make meaning of and
apply the knowledge and skills related to health and movement. They learn movement skills through
physical education. These skills enable them to develop personal, interpersonal, behavioural, cognitive
and social skills. Movement skills also encourage students for ongoing participation across their
lifespan which leads to positive health outcomes (Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting
Authority, 2012). According to UNESCO (1999), learning to move and enjoying the freedom of
movement is a human right (as cited in ACARA, 2012). HPE promotes movement skills which are
important part of daily life to enhance active living. The content of curriculum focuses on developing

Social Causes Of The American Revolution
Through an examination of the social, cultural, economic and political causes of the American
Revolution, an exploration of key arguments both for and against the American Revolution, and an
analysis of the social, cultural, economic and political changes brought about by the American
Revolution it can be demonstrated unequivocally that the American Revolution was indeed truly
revolutionary.
By the time of the late 18th century, the colonies had grown socially, culturally, economically, and
politically setting the mood for a majority of the colonists to want to break ties with the mother
country. The colonies were well established, growing rapidly with new settlers arriving, and had
begun to interact and socialize with not only each other, but also the Indians and the French, with
whom they shared the new lands. These newfound social and cultural interactions allowed the
colonies to grow economically giving the colonists a sense of importance. The lack of recognition by
parliament started to plant the seeds for the revolution.
In the years leading up to the American Revolution, important economic changes took place within the
colonies as their economies transitioned from the previous subsistence farming and subsistence living
type of economies into true consumer economies. This shift toward a true consumerism society in the
colonies, also known as Anglicizing the colonies, began to make the colonies more uniform and began
to bring the colonies together into more of a

There Basic Concepts That Guide An Individual Throughout
There basic concepts that guide an individual throughout life. Self belonging is incorporated within
those rules. However, what role does culture play in self belonging? It is a very important concept,
they are interdependent aspects of self fulfillment. The importance of recognizing the values of

Culture and Social Identity Theory
Phua (2004) associated culture as an aid in social and economic progression. Thus, culture does not
inhibit or deteriorate social expansion. So if schools do not provide funding for such growth in cultural
variety. It then promotes a single ideation throughout its organization. Much like a dictator promoting
one single view point. It is in a sense allowing the government to dictate what society seems fit in
those states. Thus, schools should not dictate whom they provide aid to specifically in determining
majors of their students. It is hindering their growth and their right to express how and whom they
choose to believe. Although clause 14th establishes that states also should not dictate whom they aid
in regards to religion, the base of the problem relies on interpretation (Watson, 2015). Basically, social
interpretation of the amendments. Religion and Social Identity Theory
As for religion and social identity, it is the same as culture and social identity. Religion is part of a

time, from one of the greatest musicians of all time? Has this only been said because he s gay, or
because he doesn t conform to his gender stereotype? Nevertheless before we come to our own
conclusions we must first get to know the man.
Born 25 3 1947 Reginald Kenneth Dwight, or more commonly known as Sir Elton John, became
somewhat of a child prodigy after he began playing the piano at the young age of four, he could play
any melody he heard by ear. After winning a scholarship to the Royal Academy Of Music at age 11,
Elton studied for six years but dropped out just shy of graduation to try his luck with a rock career. At
age 14 Elton formed his first band known as the Corvettes, which later reformed into Bluesology.
Taking the stage at the Northwood Hills Hotel Friday s to Sunday s playing Jim Reeves and Ray
Charles covers Elton earned enough to purchase his first electric piano. Late in the 60 s at an audition
for Liberty Records Elton John meet with unarguably the most significant person to play part in his
musical career, Bernie Taupin. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bernie has collaborated with other lyricists such as Alice Cooper, but undoubtedly his relationship
with Elton was the greatest. Candle in the Wind, Saturday Night s Alright for Fighting, Bennie and the
Jets and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road are some of the award winning songs written by Bernie.
Strangely it has been said that they have never composed together in the same room, Bernie would
simply write the lyrics and hand them onto Elton who would then leave in private and write the music,
Elton said himself that if the song didn t work within the first two minutes he would simply discard

British Colonialism And British Imperialism
The empire on which the sun never sets is name familiar to all, this was the name given to the British
Empire in 1921 after a period of rapid growth and ceaseless land acquisition. With such a wide range
of power, one would think that imperialism was seen as beneficial to all involved, with the exception
of the natives whose land was slowly being destroyed. A common theme in literature around this time
was the condemnation of british imperialism. Some writers wrapped up their opinions in neat yet
artistic lines, simply hinting at their disapproval while others went out of their way to make their voice
heard and their opinion crystal clear. This style of writing, no matter how the author went about it, was
known as postcolonialism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Orwell doesn t bother with winding metaphors or flowery imagery to disguise his view on
imperialism, a little more than a paragraph into Shooting an Elephant the reader is presented with
Orwell s opinion, presented in a way that leaves little room for multiple interpretations. I had already
made up my mind that imperialism was an evil thing and the sooner I chucked up my job and got out
of it the better (Orwell) The bold diction used is important because while the words evil and chucked
up very clearly state Orwell s dislike of the very cause he served, these also reveal just how strongly
he felt. Writers tend to avoid the word evil as it runs the risk of coming off as over dramatic and thus
loses its significance. Orwell simply hates British Imperialism which is a strong feeling because to
simply hate something is to hate it wholeheartedly. Orwell almost feels as if the topic is worth little
time, so he describes it exactly as he views it evil. Both Orwell and Conrad also employ the use of
syntax to get across their subtler points on British Imperialism, using rhythm to set the mood for the
reader. The first thing one might notice in Orwell s essay is the switch from long sentences explaining

Due to the cheap rate that Wal Mart is able to buy its products from suppliers, it is able to provide
customers with even bigger bargains to encourage them to shop at its stores. In addition to its low
prices, Wal Mart should continue with its current strategy of large, super centers, which is basically a
one stop shopping experience for everything you may need or want. The one stop shop experience is
appealing to customers in that it makes shopping easier. To provide the ease of shopping Wal Mart is
guaranteeing that the customers will find what they want when they want it. This is supported by
convenient presentation and the right level of service every time the customer shops. In doing so, Wal
Mart can appeal to an even larger market. According to pages 151 and 152 in the textbook, this
opportunity would become apparent if Wal Mart used a low cost strategy where the business produces
basic, no frills products for a large market of price sensitive shoppers. New locations and store types
offer Wal Mart opportunities to exploit market development. They diversified from large super
centers, to local and mall based sites, such as their Wal Mart Neighborhood Markets and their
Marketside stores. Using a focus low cost strategy, page 153 in the textbook, that enables Wal Mart to

Physical Therapy And Mental Therapist
Physical Therapist or known as PTs, Physical Therapist Assistants, and a Geriatric Physical Therapist

responsibilities, and different places of work. I would rather be a Physical Therapist than a PT
assistant and a Geriatric Physical Therapist, because PTs get paid relatively well. Also I would like to
do more than to assist a therapist. My research shows that a Physical Therapists duty is to restore
maximal functional and independence to each individual patient. They evaluate, diagnose, and make a
treatment plan to each individual patient s needs. It is offered to a wide variety of patients such as:

pain when the patients come to see them. The patients would most likely have a smile on their face

them be able to move with ease. They would also most likely have a smile on their face, because they

Alexander Mackenzie s Repair
While the liberals were at force, it wasn t in their intentions to keep fabricating the route, so they
backed off on the creation of the track. During Alexander Mackenzie s cabinet years he invested
majority of his time in planning the best route for the CPR. Mackenzie s idea in regards to the CPR

building a line that would cross the nation partly by rail and partly by water20. Luckily this plan wasn

What Is The Battle Of Jutland Essay
The Battle of Jutland There are many battles that make up a war, both large and small. Each battle
won is a step towards winning the war. Some conflicts are more critical than others. The Battle of
Jutland which took place during World War I was one such battle. The Battle of Jutland was a pivotal
point and set the tone for the rest of World War I. After World War I began the British had put up a
blockade in order to keep Germany from entering the Atlantic and causing interference with the
British Naval Fleet and their merchant trade. It wasn t too long before the Germans had enough and
realized something had to be done. The Battle of Jutland was set into motion by an attack by the
German Navy on the towns of Lowestoft and Yarmouth, on the night of April 24th and 25th 1916.

The Effect Of Electrical Currents On Physical Therapy
Given:
The use of electrical currents in physical therapy is a common practice. There are many different uses
for electrical stimulation: it can be used to facilitate a muscle contraction, to decrease pain levels, to
control edema, and to promote tissue healing.3 Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) is the
use of an electrical current to facilitate a muscle contraction, usually for strength gains.3 Many
different parameters of electrical stimulation have been evaluated to determine which one elicits the
strongest contraction. Russian current is probably the most widely recognized NMES parameter,
however, current research is questioning if it is the best at producing the strongest muscle
contraction.1,2,4,5 Electrical currents such as burst modulated biphasic pulsed current, interferential
current, and Aussie current have been shown to elicit stronger contractions than Russian is capable
of.1,2,4,5
It s important to fully understand what parameters are being changed with each of these different
currents. Each current is made up of a waveform (AC, DC, or pulsed), frequency (hz, beats or pulses
per second), an amplitude (mA, intensity), pulse duration (µs, how long the pulse lasts), and burst duty
cycle (10 50%, ratio of burst duration and time of the total cycle).5 The different NMES currents
adjust some of these settings to elicit muscle contractions. It s important note that lower duty cycles,
lower frequencies, higher pulse durations, and higher amplitudes elicit

Book Review
14th Jan 2015
This book explores the future of details and how details can vary through different aspects of attempts,
fields, aesthetics, narratives, the role of details in the future of architecture itself in terms of
questioning that connection between the digital, the virtual and that of the physical and applicable.
Here we are looking at details as a whole, as a way/ways of practicing architecture. Laying out all the
different possibilities there are for rather justifiable or non justifiable architecture fast beyond the
present time to the near future.
For many years I have questioned these dilemmas; trying to understand how the virtual world and the
coming future of architecture is being translated into real architecture yet conveying its meaning and
approach to the existed world and us, and I mean by us not only architects or students of architecture
but people, inhabitants and users.
This translation is somehow getting lost from the digital through to the commitment of construction,
but maybe the lost and the forgotten can become the interesting and the innovative. However, this
contrast is rather intriguing and clever as it expands our possibilities and energies through the different
ways of applying architecture.
I m not interested in living in a fantasy world ... All my work is still meant to evoke real architectural
spaces. But what interests me is what the world would be like if we were free of conventional

Transformations In The Fall Of The House Of Usher
I just just glanced through my phone, swiping quickly to going through the photos of everyone s
snapchat story. But one word caught my eye: fire; it caught my eye but I did not really think about it
afterwards. Several hours later however, I was with my friends working on our english essay when all
of a sudden, I look up to see what looked like an enormous blanket of brown dust staining the clear
blue sky. There was a distinct line between the perfectly blue sky and the disgusting smoke from the
fire and this transformation that occurred so out of the blue causing both shock and awe from me and
my friends. Transformations play a role in stories meant to scare us by creating an atmosphere of
discomfort and uncertainty because the characters are unable to control the situation around them.
Through the short stories of The Fall of the House of Usher , House Taken Over , and Where is Here ,
the authors of those stories all elicit an atmosphere of fear through the combined transformations of
setting, mood, and characters. The Fall of the House of Usher change occurs at the climax of the story
where Roderick Usher falls into insanity. House Taken Over changes when the mysterious intruders
fully overtake the house and the siblings are forced to flee. In Where is Here the stranger leaves the
home which causes the house to fade in color, draining it of life.

He is a Staples native and through his study abroad, travels, and time in the Air force he developed a

Of these 11 cultures, there are 22 languages or dialects spoken. In Kodiak Alaska, water gives life to

A Comparsion of the Bhagavad Gita vs The Gospels Essay
Coming from a western culture, it is easy to familiarize with the Gospels over any other written text.
In order to get a different perspective on the outlook of life, it is better to compare the Gospels to
another written text. A text that is an excellent candidate to stand up next to the Gospels is the
Bhagavad Gita (or just the Gita). These two texts can depict similarities and differences between the
two cultures presented: Christianity and Hinduism. Keeping an open mind when reading cultural texts
is what makes the texts more interesting and informs the reader more clearly. The analysis between
one western text and one non western text can really widen the perspective of one person. Due to the

One of the messages is to basically love God more than anything and put him before everything. The
verse of Matthew 22:37 states that: Thou shalt love The Lord Thy God with all Thy heart, with all Thy
soul, and with all Thy might. Likewise, the Gita says, Keep your mind on me, be my devotee,
sacrificing, bow to me you will come to me, I promise, for you are dear to me (Gita 155). Clearly the
meanings behind both these quotes are the same but just worded differently. Krishna and Jesus
constantly emphasize certain aspects that are similar to the other person s teaching. This goes to show
that even though Hinduism and Christianity are two separate cultures with two different scriptural
texts and two different religions, the idea and meaning behind both of these religions are closely
related. No matter how different the two religions may appear to be, the meaning behind their
scriptures is what really defies their religion. Just because the two religions believe in different deities
doesn t mean that the deities aren t teaching the exact same thing. It s just that the two religions have
different ways of teachings their followers and the teachings are slightly worded differently, so this is
where many people fall into the trap by thinking that the meanings from the two scriptures are
different and unique. Morality is the principles concerning the distinction between right and

Roderick is following the same path as the Usher s, which they have been doing for many generations,
before him. He had no other choice and through the years was molded to believe that he should be his
own sister s lover. They were raised more of future lovers than as siblings. The line between lovers
and family was never drawn for them, so the family secret also stayed with their family. The secrets
sealed in the direct line of descent (Poe 703). Another key factor for intermarriage is to keep any
property they own in the Usher s name. The family house could possibly be the last thing that the

  • 2. The Hobbit Analysis In the novel, The Hobbit, the author J.R.R. Tolkien, suggests when an individual pushes themselves to explore risk taking, they take the opportunity to grow within themselves, and test the extent of their newfound values, which result in the character fostering a stronger sense of self identity. Accepting the opportunity to experience risk allows the individual to push themselves, despite the possibility of danger towards oneself. In the Hobbit, the character Bilbo demonstrates risk taking most clearly when he attempts to steal a troll s wallet after the dwarves ordered him to investigate a strange light coming from within the forest (pg. 35). Bilbo concludes that he must prove himself to the dwarves. To show his capability as a burglar, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Bilbo feels pity for Gollum, and decides not to kill him, he takes risks, as leaping over Gollum may fail, causing Bilbo to fall prey to Gollum. In this situation, Bilbo pushes himself to spare Gollum and make daring decisions, where Bilbo is not aware of the consequences. Therefore Bilbo signifies risk taking when sparing Gollum, despite the unpredictable consequences that result from his decisions. Lastly, Bilbo demonstrates pushing himself to take risks, despite the danger, is during when Bilbo is chosen to survey inside the Lonely Mountain, Smaug s citadel (pg. 198 201). Bilbo understands that he must uphold his position as a burglar, and be the first to enter the Lonely Mountain, where Smaug inhabits. When Bilbo enters Smaug s lair, is a primary example of Bilbo s risk taking, despite the prominent danger. Bilbo exploring Smaug s stronghold is the climax of danger during The Hobbit. During this situation, Bilbo pushes himself greatly, to explore inside the Lonely Mountain, in order to manifest his capability as a burglar, Bilbo surpasses his ability to take risks and discovers the extent of his risk taking abilities. He ultimately finds greater courage within himself, as a result of pushing himself to take risks. Bilbo knows of Smaug, who represents the great danger within the mountains. • 5. Cork Industry, the Wine Industry and the Need for Closure... 1 To what extent is the cork industry guilty of complacency and a lack of innovation? The cork industry is guilty of complacency and lack of innovation because they failed to recognize the changes in the wine industry. The wine industry was experiencing a revolution where new producers from Australia, California and Chile had new and different requirements. It took only a matter of years for the industry to change completely and the cork industry did not jump on the band wagon when it needed to. It allows the competition to get the edge. 2 If consumers love corks, why are the producers not providing what their customers want? The reason being is because the wine industry has changed significantly over the past twenty years. The ... According to our text, because the cork forests are facing environmental stress, it would require high levels of R amp;D investment to open new opportunities for cork materials. When referring to new opportunities it would be new items, such as, floor and wall coverings, coasters, cork board sheets, etc. A high level of R amp;D can guarantee some sort of sustainability for the cork industry and also remove TCA. By doing this, this can ensure growth in the company. 6 What portfolio of R amp;D projects would you establish for the cork industry? I would try to find different things to use the cork rather than focusing on just wines. Expand in other areas to increase production and focus and emphasis on how it is environmentally friendly. • 7. Existential Crisis In Hamlet In Shakespeare s Hamlet, we are presented with a young man torn asunder after the sudden demise of his father. There is a point in the play where Hamlet vocalizes his feelings of displacement and loss within his world. The To be, or not to be monologue plunges the audience into the confused psyche of Hamlet, allowing us to empathize with Hamlet s existential crisis. This window into Hamlet s dilemma strikes the audience, it is relatable in that we all face moments in our lives where we stand back and question our socially and self imposed roles. The ramblings of Hamlet echo through history, and those same sentiments can be felt to this day. The true comparison lies in how we handle these tribulations. Kafka, Franz, and Joachim Neugroschel. The Passenger. The Metamorphosis, in the Penal Colony, and Other Stories: With Two New Stories. 1st Scribner pbk. fiction ed., New York, Simon Schuster, 2000, pp. 40 41. In Kafka s The Passenger we are presented with an allegorical story about a person on a trolley car, watching as life passes. In the introduction I stand on the platform of the trolley car and am completely insecure about my footing in this world in this city, in my family. Nor could I indicate even casually what demands I might rightfully make in any direction... we have the entire basis of this short story. Kafka puts to words the feelings of his and his generation, feelings of being out of place in a rapidly changing world. Shakespeare and Kafka both abided in time periods that we re seeing social changes occurring. Shakespeare may have used Hamlet to vocalize his feelings about being out of place in his world. Kafka used his short story The Passenger to put to words his feelings of displacement and unfamiliarity with the world around him. Hamlet s To be, or not to be monologue and Kafka s The Passenger show similar feelings of confusion and disassociation from their specific worlds. Hamlet debates life and death, action vs inaction, suffering, an inability to choose a direction; Kafka skips the debate and delves directly to the heart of the issue, a complete insecurity with no direction in the world. • 8. Bird Seed Lab Report Background There are many ways to obtain seeds to grow flowers in the springtime, but not all seeds were created equal. Sunflower seeds, for example, can be bought at a garden store in a packet for $1.5 dollars per 6 gram packet, but they can also be found in bird seed for $3.53 dollars per 10 pounds. This experiment intends to find if the germination of a store bought packet of sunflower seeds matches the germination rate of sunflower seeds obtained from a bag of bird seed. While both seeds will germinate, it is believed that the bird seed will not be as robust in growth as the garden seed, due to the fact that the garden seed is made to be grown, while the bird seed is made for consumption. Methods Firstly, for the setup of the experiment, two styrofoam cups were filled with two inches worth of standard, fertilized garden soil, next four seeds from from the garden seed, and the bird seed were placed an inch deep in separate cups. The seeds were blindly labeled, with one being labeled group A and one being labeled group B. This was so as to efficiently conduct a double blind experiment. The seeds were watered with approximately a teaspoon of water per day, and kept in a sunny windowsill. They were left in the windowsill for two weeks, and watered daily. Results The results ... While there is some room for error, based off of the differences in students experiments, the data is significant enough to determine which had the higher germination rate. However, this experiment tested only the germination rate, and not the actual flowers produced by either seed. Penney will need to attract customers that traditionally shop at other stores as well as bring back customers who quit shopping at J.C. Penney and went to other stores. Without these customers there will not be enough sales to make back the money spent on renovations, as well as on consistent pricing of merchandise. Segmentation Analysis Current Target Market: ... Waugh considered the opinion of his neighbor regarding the box as the vision of a thing which is not present at all. In the same way, Gilbert thinks that BBC correspondent angel (object of many of his paranoid fantasies) is utilizing The Box so as to send various voices to his office or cabin present on the ship as per the waugh s work. These voices are just the imagination of Gilbert. Because, the voices get stopped when he avoids to take drugs and returns from the ship to England. Thus, the voices coming to his office are completely imaginary. The Box has some religious significance in.regards with the old testament, The box is the ark of the covenant containing words said by the God. Moreover, these words are related to the judaeo christian. These small boxes containing the scrolls on which words of God are written is used by the Orthodox Jews. In this way, The Box is a religious thing and Pinfold believed that it is negative thing which is used by BBC correspondence so as to send the voices into his cabin on the ship.On the other hand, Some colleagues of the pinfold think that the Gilbert Pinfold is Jewish by religion. So, It is noticeable that Gilbert Pinfold had all the negative thoughts about the box and it is only the result of overdosage taken by him. • 13. Chemical Reactions And Factors That Affect The Rate Of A... Reactions occur everywhere, and they may take decades, such as fossils, or only seconds, such as lighting a match to occur. Chemical kinetics concerns the rates of chemical reactions and what factors affects these rates (Iodine Clock, 2017). Temperature, concentration, pressure of reacting gases, surface area of reacting solids and the use of catalysts are all factors which affect the rate of a reaction (Bbc.co.uk, 2017). This is because they affect the reaction roles and yields of activation energy, product management and reactant management (William, 2017). This is accomplished by making changes to the concentration, pressure or temperature of a reaction to alter the position of the equilibrium (Bbc.co.uk, 2017). Accordingly, the ... Throughout the Landolt Iodine Clock Reaction, chemical equilibria are clearly demonstrated through the delayed colour change of combining two colourless solutions to form a dark blue solution. The overall chemical reaction for this is as follows: 2IO 3(aq) + 5HSO 3(aq) + 2H (aq) → I2 + 5HSO 4(aq) + H20(l) Iodate ions + Bisulfite ions + hydronium ions → Iodine + Bisulfate + water (Iodine Clock, 2017) The individual steps of the reaction are: (1) IO3 (aq) + 3HSO3 (aq) → I (aq) + 3SO4 (aq) + 3H+(aq) Iodate + Bisulfite → Iodide + Sulfate + Hydronium ions (2) IO3 (aq) + 5I (aq) + 6H+aq) → 3I2(aq) + 3H2O(l) Iodate + Iodide + Hydronium ions → Iodine + Water (3) I2(aq) + HSO3 (aq) + H2O(l) → 2I (aq) +SO4 (aq) +3H+(aq) Iodine + Bisulfite + Water → Iodide + Sulfate + Hydronium ions (4) I2(aq) + I (aq) + starch → dark blue starch I3 complex Iodine + Iodide + starch → dark blue starch I3 complex (Iodine Clock Reaction, 2015) The first reaction is the rate determining step, and hence, determines the order of the reaction. The equilibria is delayed in this reaction due to any of the iodine produced, immediately reacting with any bisulfite still present, before then being converted into colourless iodide (reaction 2). Social Causes Of The American Revolution Through an examination of the social, cultural, economic and political causes of the American Revolution, an exploration of key arguments both for and against the American Revolution, and an analysis of the social, cultural, economic and political changes brought about by the American Revolution it can be demonstrated unequivocally that the American Revolution was indeed truly revolutionary. By the time of the late 18th century, the colonies had grown socially, culturally, economically, and politically setting the mood for a majority of the colonists to want to break ties with the mother country. The colonies were well established, growing rapidly with new settlers arriving, and had begun to interact and socialize with not only each other, but also the Indians and the French, with whom they shared the new lands. These newfound social and cultural interactions allowed the colonies to grow economically giving the colonists a sense of importance. The lack of recognition by parliament started to plant the seeds for the revolution. In the years leading up to the American Revolution, important economic changes took place within the colonies as their economies transitioned from the previous subsistence farming and subsistence living type of economies into true consumer economies. This shift toward a true consumerism society in the colonies, also known as Anglicizing the colonies, began to make the colonies more uniform and began to bring the colonies together into more of a ... There are many different uses for electrical stimulation: it can be used to facilitate a muscle contraction, to decrease pain levels, to control edema, and to promote tissue healing.3 Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) is the use of an electrical current to facilitate a muscle contraction, usually for strength gains.3 Many different parameters of electrical stimulation have been evaluated to determine which one elicits the strongest contraction. Russian current is probably the most widely recognized NMES parameter, however, current research is questioning if it is the best at producing the strongest muscle contraction.1,2,4,5 Electrical currents such as burst modulated biphasic pulsed current, interferential current, and Aussie current have been shown to elicit stronger contractions than Russian is capable of.1,2,4,5 It s important to fully understand what parameters are being changed with each of these different currents. Each current is made up of a waveform (AC, DC, or pulsed), frequency (hz, beats or pulses per second), an amplitude (mA, intensity), pulse duration (µs, how long the pulse lasts), and burst duty cycle (10 50%, ratio of burst duration and time of the total cycle).5 The different NMES currents adjust some of these settings to elicit muscle contractions. Here we are looking at details as a whole, as a way/ways of practicing architecture. Laying out all the different possibilities there are for rather justifiable or non justifiable architecture fast beyond the present time to the near future. For many years I have questioned these dilemmas; trying to understand how the virtual world and the coming future of architecture is being translated into real architecture yet conveying its meaning and approach to the existed world and us, and I mean by us not only architects or students of architecture but people, inhabitants and users. This translation is somehow getting lost from the digital through to the commitment of construction, but maybe the lost and the forgotten can become the interesting and the innovative. However, this contrast is rather intriguing and clever as it expands our possibilities and energies through the different ways of applying architecture. • 36. A Comparsion of the Bhagavad Gita vs The Gospels Essay Coming from a western culture, it is easy to familiarize with the Gospels over any other written text. In order to get a different perspective on the outlook of life, it is better to compare the Gospels to another written text. A text that is an excellent candidate to stand up next to the Gospels is the Bhagavad Gita (or just the Gita). These two texts can depict similarities and differences between the two cultures presented: Christianity and Hinduism. Keeping an open mind when reading cultural texts is what makes the texts more interesting and informs the reader more clearly. The analysis between one western text and one non western text can really widen the perspective of one person. Due to the fact that Krishna from the Gita seems to ... The verse of Matthew 22:37 states that: Thou shalt love The Lord Thy God with all Thy heart, with all Thy soul, and with all Thy might. Likewise, the Gita says, Keep your mind on me, be my devotee, sacrificing, bow to me you will come to me, I promise, for you are dear to me (Gita 155). Clearly the meanings behind both these quotes are the same but just worded differently. Krishna and Jesus constantly emphasize certain aspects that are similar to the other person s teaching. This goes to show that even though Hinduism and Christianity are two separate cultures with two different scriptural texts and two different religions, the idea and meaning behind both of these religions are closely related. No matter how different the two religions may appear to be, the meaning behind their scriptures is what really defies their religion. Just because the two religions believe in different deities doesn t mean that the deities aren t teaching the exact same thing. It s just that the two religions have different ways of teachings their followers and the teachings are slightly worded differently, so this is where many people fall into the trap by thinking that the meanings from the two scriptures are different and unique. Morality is the principles concerning the distinction between right and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Roderick is following the same path as the Usher s, which they have been doing for many generations, before him. He had no other choice and through the years was molded to believe that he should be his own sister s lover. They were raised more of future lovers than as siblings. The line between lovers and family was never drawn for them, so the family secret also stayed with their family. The secrets sealed in the direct line of descent (Poe 703). Another key factor for intermarriage is to keep any property they own in the Usher s name. The family house could possibly be the last thing that the Usher own. Watching animes on my weekends relieves the stress from school, but also can change the point of my views seen in society. A prime example of an anime I watched this weekend was Your Lie In April. Its Japanese name is Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso. Your Lie In April is a story about a young boy name Kousei Arima, who is a prodigy pianist and what lies ahead is his path to his future. Because the anime is 22 episodes, the anime has to be slower. I agree to this, the anime is way too slow. However, the music that is being played by Arima and Kaori makes up for the pacing. Their music of them playing the piano and violin brings harmony and beauty to this anime. Listening to the soundtrack of this anime brings good things to the ears. Also, a counter to the slow pacing is the animations of the anime. Combining animations with the soundtracks brings beauty to the eye. They entwine together to make the best out of the ...
