Realism In Frank Capra s Mr. Smith Goes To Washington
Frank Capra s Mr. Smith Goes to Washington develops the themes of idealism, realism, and cynicism.
Idealism is the way of looking for the best in everything and not really seeing the bad. Realism is the
way of looking at things the way they are in the real world. Cynicism is the way of thinking that no
one has any good in them and that the whole world is horrible. Capra s Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
brings out the themes of idealism, realism, and cynicism through the main characters, Clarissa
Saunders, Senator Joseph Paine, and Jefferson Smith. Clarissa Saunders came to Washington with
eyes that were big blue question marks now they are green dollar signs. She says this while talking to
her friend and what she means is that she was naive because he is talking all about how he went sight
seeing and loves all the ideals that America stands for, she even lets reporters come and make fun of
him. After Saunders gets to know Jeff she begins to care for him and starts to fall in love with him.
One night while Saunders and Jeff are drafting a bill she learns that he loves Susan Paine and this
breaks her heart. She leaves the city but suddenly realizes that she needs some of Jefferson s idealistic
qualities and goes back. Saunders goes to find Jeff at the Lincoln Memorial and tells him to fight for
what he believes in. This is a turning point for Saunders because she has found out how to balance
idealism with realism. Senator Joseph Paine was once a very good man but has now become

Messias Performance Art Analysis
How does Nando Messias utilise gender in his performance art, incorporating drag and queerness to
expose his stimuli and being a homosexual?
In this essay, I will be focusing on the performance artist Nando Messias and his artwork. Messias is
an abject artist who concentrates on performance art, theatre and dance. (Nando Messias, Undated)
His performances combine beautiful images with a fierce critique of gender, visibility and violence.
(Nando Messias, Undated). Gender, drag culture and queerness plays a significant part in Messias
performance art and as an artist, he utilises this to create an impact for the spectator and to represent
life events and themes appearing in society. As an artist, he portrays the female body in a male body
creating a non binary gender. Such historical perspectives shared a theoretical assumption that woman
could be understood along a gendered binary (male/female, man/woman, masculine/feminine)
(McCann, 2016, 227) Messias dresses in drag and uses theatrical and conventional female identifying
elements to highlight the female body, highlighting the sissiness that he creates in his pieces for his
character. The term sissy boy in McInnes s view is working the tensions of gender recognition and
destabiliz[ing] the formation of ordered masculinity and femininity . (Davies, 2013, 124) Messias
utilises both masculinity and femininity in his works due to his drag identity but exploits his feminine
identity further. His work relates clearly

Irwin Textile Mills produces two types of cotton cloth denim and corduroy. Corduroy is a heavier
grade of cotton cloth and, as such, requires 8 pounds of raw cotton per yard, whereas denim requires 6
pounds of raw cotton per yard. A yard of corduroy requires 4 hours of processing time; a yard od
denim requires 3.0 hours. Although the demand for denim is practically unlimited, the maximum
demand for corduroy is 510 yards per month. The manufacturer has 6,500 pounds of cotton and 3,000
hours of processing time available each month. The manufacturer makes a profit of $2.5 per yards of
denim and $3.25 per yard of corduroy. The manufacturer wants to know how many yards of each type
of cloth to produce to maximize profit. Formulate the model and put into standard form. Solve it

The Movement Towards Cloud Computing
The world, as a whole, is changing. It is true that some sections of the world are remaining primitive
in terms of industrialization, but the general population is a progressive one. There are incredible
advancements being made in the industries of transportation, communications, aerospace and defense,
as well as almost every industry related to the culture of society. As these advancements progress and
companies innovate, the demand for different products changes. For example, the demand for DVDs
today is no where near what it once was. In today s society, there is a huge demand for technology
based products. Due to this increased demand for technology, there has been an impressive amount of
innovation on how technology is both used and sold. The largest of these innovative movements has
been the movement towards cloud computing. In about as basic of a definition there is, The Cloud is
simply a way to store data online. Instead of saving something to a hard drive, it can be saved to The
Cloud. As one of The Cloud s many advantages, this allows files to be accessed from any device at
any location. However, it also has some disadvantages. This is arguably the most relevant issue in the
business world today, which is why the sources below will help to analyze the benefits of cloud
computing versus the costs of it. The first source will be entirely related to the definitions of the terms
associated to cloud computing, including The Cloud itself. There are a plethora of terms

Cla Research Paper
Mechanism of the Health promoting Effects of the Food Ingredient
Evidence suggests that the biological effectiveness of CLA are due to the separate actions of cis 9,
trans 11 and trans 10, cis 12 isomers. It is likely that numerous health effects are enhanced by
synergistic actions of these isomers. Findings such as, inhibition of chemically induced
carcinogenesis, enhanced immune system, reduction of atherosclerosis, enhanced growth, fat
reduction are attributed to a mixture of these CLA isomers (Pariza, Park, Cook, 2001).
Weight reduction
Researchers have theorized about the many mechanisms CLA have an effect on. Some proposed
mechanisms such as reduction of proliferation and differentiation of preadipocytes, decreased

Insulin resistance can also be caused by increased triglycerides and free fatty acids intake. This is due
to the effect Triglycerides and free fatty acids have on insulin stimulated signal pathways,
translocation protein 4 and glucose uptake (Choi, Jung, Park, Song, 2004). It is found that CLA has a
regulatory effect on glucose and lipid metabolism regulators. CLA affects the PPAR y ligand, a major
receptor that influences the expression and transcription of genes that are related to the metabolic
effects of glucose and lipids. Such protein regulators as aP2, insulin dependent glucose transporter 4,
FATp, ACS and adiponectin are all influenced by increased CLA. (Xiao Rong Zhoua, Chang Hao
Suna, Jia Ren Liua, b, Dan Zhaoa, 2008). It was also theorized that CLA may act on other glucose
regulators such as phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase, glucose 6 phosphate, glucokinase, sterol
regulation element finding protein, acyl coenzyme A oxidase, fatty acid synthase and uncoupling
protein. Testing done on rats with a mixture of cis 9, trans 11 and trans 10, cis 12 CLA had found that
the only effected regulatory agents were regulators involved in gluconeogenesis such as Phosphoenol
carboxykinase and transcriptional factors, sterol regulating element binding protein 1c and PPAR y
(Choi, Jung, Park, Song, 2004). The main regulatory effect on insulin resistance was the effect on
ligand PPAR y, a key regulator in lipid homeostasis. Mixtures of CLA isomers consisting of cis 9,
trans 11 and trans 10,cis 12 effect gene expression of PPARy mRNA in rats. It was found to have
affected the levels of aP2, FATP, ACS and adipoenectin mRNA expression in adipose tissue. CLA
increased These regulatory proteins resulting in an uptake of free fatty acids into the adipose tissue
and decreasing uptake into the muscle tissue. This has been found to improve muscle insulin

Define Community Analysis
Community, what is community? How would you define it? Community can be defined as a
geographic location in a way that a group of individuals live in the same area like a neighborhood, a
city, a district, a town, or a country. In simplest terms, it is where you live. However, individuals can
also feel a sense of community through the place where they grew up or where they often go and visit.
It can also be a group of individuals who have certain characteristics in common such as religion, race
or ethnicity, culture, beliefs, professional and economic ties, interests, and more. Individuals refer
themselves to particular attributes or affinities (what individuals like to do). For example, individuals
say I belong to an Asian community or I belong to an art community. As such, community bestows
one a sense of identity (who people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though individuals are different and unique from each other, they all come to one because of that
one particular shared interest.
For me, community is bigger than that. I believe that community is diversity, kinship, unity, identity,
cooperation, passion, similarity, strength, motivation, and guidance. The word community does not
only limit itself to a group of individuals who have shared characteristics, interests, and experiences,
but it also goes beyond the idea of a group of diverse individuals coming together. These are
individuals who have different ethnicities, race, religion, culture, traditions, and so forth. Within a
community is where one develops relationships with other people over time by means of interacting
and communicating regularly, whether it would be in person or online. Thus, a better understanding of
the surroundings and in greater span, the world, is formed. Community is where it starts. Differences
are set aside. It is a place where everyone works together to make their community a better place or a
harmonious place to dwell. Everyone contributes whatever

twenty six pages, I expected little detail and a strong conclusion to the horrors previously mentioned
throughout the book. Nonetheless, I was surprised to find that Irene s troubles had yet to cease, and
numerous problems led to noticeable shifts in Irene s heart and personality. After the Russians began
complete occupation of Poland and Germany was driven out, Irene still couldn t seem to catch a break.
The Soviet Union was only a few steps better than the Germans, which gave Irene all the cause to

Transition Mechanism Of The Internet Protocol Essay
Transition mechanism is a technology that facilitates the transitioning of the Internet from the Internet
Protocol version 4 (IPv4) infrastructure
Mechanism to allow a smooth transition to the new version of the IP protocol, without the need for an
abrupt change. With this idea in mind, several of these mechanisms were created in order to facilitate
the coexistence of both versions.
During the early stages of IPv6 deployment it was believed that adoption of the new protocol would
be quick enough and that IPv6 would have gained widespread adoption before IPv4 ran out. This,
however, did not happen which is why transition mechanisms are an even more relevant topic today.
Transition mechanisms can be classified according to the different techniques they apply:
Dual stack
Tunneling
Translation
It is also possible to classify the different mechanisms based on whether they assume that the
underlying infrastructure is predominantly IPv4 or IPv6. Although in the beginning there were IPv4
networks that started gradually adding IPv6 access, as IPv4 ran out, providers started considering the
deployment of IPv6 only networks. This means that transition mechanisms are needed to allow
customers in these IPv6 only networks to access networks that still only support IPv4. Many
mechanisms have been proposed and more are currently being discussed in the IETF. The following is
a description of the most widely deployed and more mature mechanisms.
An IP address consists of 32 bits. Instead of

Saki s Stories and the Impression they Create about Adult Child Relationships
In order to answer this question I am going to be focusing on three of
Saki?s stories; the story teller, the lumber room and the open window.
Children at the time Hector Munro (Saki) was writing these stories would have had very vivid
imagination; this is shown in Saki s story
The Open Window when the niece makes up the saga of Mr Sappleton s death, illustrates how
imaginative children can be, and that adults are very easily fooled. Fooling adults is a key theme in
Saki s stories; another time when it occurs is in the story The Lumber Room when Nicholas dupes his
aunt into believing that he is somehow trying to get into the gooseberry garden, ... Show more content

This is shown in Saki?s story
?The Open Window? when the Mr Nuttel believes the nieces story because he has no reason to think
that a fifteen year old girl has any reason to lie, especially about something as horrible as death. Again
these also relates to the theme of children being able to fool adults, because they are seen as innocent.
I am now going to write about the characters in Saki?s stories. Each story contains an Aunt, who is
perceived a strict and a person who follows the rules of Edwardian society very closely, and children,
who tend to break the regulations that Edwardian society has, and by some other characters, like the
Batchelor in the story ?The Story Teller? and Mr Nuttel in the story ?The Open Window?
Firstly I am going to concentrate on the Bachelor in ?The
Story Teller?. He is different to the rest of the adults in the early stories because he tells the children a
story about a young girl is
?horribly good?. The concept of someone been horribly good is alien to
Edwardian society. Furthermore in the same story he also mentions that the girl who is ?horribly
good? gets killed by a wolf. This is another idea that would not have been thought possible to happen
in Edwardian society, because they believed that you can never be too good. Saki has invented the
character of the Bachelor in order to help him to ridicule Edwardian society. An example of the
Bachelor ridiculing
Edwardian society is

Essay on Ikea Case Analysis
Jamie Richardson BUSN204 21 March 2013 Ikea Case Analysis IKEA was truly built from the ground
up. It was started in 1943 by Ingvar Kamprad when he was 17 years old, from a shed on the family
farm. In the beginning, the company sold fish, Christmas magazines, and seeds to eventually add pens,
then furniture to its product list. In the beginning the company had used the milk truck as part of its
delivery system to get orders to the train station. In 1953 when the milk truck changed it route, it was
no longer available to get items to the train station. This motivated Ingvar to invest in a nearby idle

IKEA had to start designing more of its furniture in house and found a manufacturer who would
produce IKEA designed furniture. In this process, the manufacturer was in Poland where they found it
is 50% cheaper than to manufacture in Sweden, allowing him to cut prices even more. Here the
furniture industry continued to evolve with new technology and cost savings. In 1958, IKEA had
opened its first store on site of the first warehouse in Almhult. This was done to supplement the mail
order business; it was to be a place where customers could come to see the furniture set up. This went
well; the business even started selling storage containers for car roofs in order for customers to take
home their purchases. Ingvar realized that Almhult was a good drive for many of its customers so he
decided to put in a restaurant so they could relax and refuel. This was a hit and became an integral
feature of all IKEA stores. Competitors argued that IKEA products were low quality, which was
quickly diminished when the furniture was tested for quality by a Swedish design laboratory. The
laboratory not only stated that IKEA s quality was good, but maybe better than that of other Swedish
furniture manufacturers with prices much lower. Due to this publicity, sales took off, being as it was
now acceptable in middle class households. IKEA had opened a store in Stockholm

The first half of this chapter is a story of Vivian Goodman and her love affair with Emmanuel. Vivian
was a forty two year old woman who had two children from a previous marriage, that ended because
her husband had had an affair with another woman. She met Emmanuel who was a coworker at
Amerco and who also had a child from a previous relationship. Vivian and Emmanuel found that they
both had little time to spend together because of their shift differences, and Vivian always picked up

Emmanuel had recently moved out of Vivians trailer because Tim, Vivian s nineteen year old son, still
struggled to accept that his parents, Vivian and her ex husband, were done. This made it difficult for

Vivian s difficult work schedule proved to be too much for Emmanuel and he ended up spending more

Food Spoilage And Its Effect On The Food Industry
Abstract
The health and economic impact of food spoilage to both consumers and producers are enormous, it
has a detrimental effect on the consumer s health and negatively impacts the bottom line of the
producers. In the past monitoring of food quality are done using a sensor which observes changes in
temperature, releases of gases which are not effective and every year million health cases result from
food spoilage. This paper introduces an intelligent monitoring system that uses NFC based sensor that
has the capability to detect release gases from spoiled food through the change in PH. This system
uses a PH sensor and Near Field Communication (NFC) device which is a subset of RFID.
Introduction
Food spoilage is the process in which food product becomes unconsumable to the human with changes
in taste, smell and physical form. These changes are due to some factors like air, oxygen, light,
temperature, and microbial growth. Lack of adequate food monitoring technology during transit of
product usually result to compromising on food quality and safety. The innovation of wireless method
of monitoring food quality will ensure consumer health and safety and reduce the cost of a producer.
This experiment discussed in this paper if improved on a large scale will help reduce the hazards of
food spoilage both to the consumer and the producer. The existing methods of determining the quality
of food is using sensors to observe the change in temperature, secretion of enzyme and

legitimate. This scam achieved such infamy that several documentary films have been made about its
uses and origins.
The Piano Wire
It was a popular tool amongst mobsters in the 1960s, but it seems that slot game players also found
plenty of use for it as well. During the 1980s a group of men would use piano wire on a slot machine.
By sliding the 20 inch wire into the machines wiring they were able to rig the machine and trigger its
jackpot, banking $50,000. However, their victory was short lived, as they would be caught by the
police shortly after.
The Light Wand
At first glance a light wand looks like a fairly innocuous device, but to those who like to rig slot
games it is anything but. In the hands of the wrong people it is a powerful tool that allows for slot
machine mechanism manipulation. When

Religious Figures In The Canterbury Tales By Geoffery Chaucer
In The Canterbury Tales by Geoffery Chaucer, religious figures are constantly being satirized by being
shown in a negative way that is contrary to their religion. One such character is the Monk. The Monk
should be living a life of poverty and humility, but instead he enjoys hunting, is overweight, and
extravagantly dressed due to his wealth. In Dante s Inferno, the Monk would be classified in the third
circle of hell due to his gluttonous lifestyle. In the Inferno Dante designates the third circle of hell for
those who live in gluttony. According to Dante, the third circle is patrolled by the three headed guard
dog of the underworld Cerberus. Here monstrous Cerebrus, the raving beast, howls through his triple
throats like a made dog over

The Legacy Of Nelson Mandela
For to be free is not merely to cast off one s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the
freedom of others ( Nelson Mandela. History). Nelson Mandela, a anti apartheid activist, became one
of the world s most significant freedom fighter. His numerous acts and protests flooded South Africa
with immense pride and peace and therefore grew South Africa into a thriving, substantial economy
with minimal racial boundaries. Nelson Mandela was a prominent political leader who brought a
dynamic end to the apartheid struggle, fought for equal rights of all individuals, and became the nation

his claim to chieftainship and followed his dream to become a lawyer. ( Hero of ) When Mandela

Disestablishment In The Orphanage
In the film, The Orphanage, former orphan Laura, her husband, and their son Simon move into Laura s
childhood home, a haunted orphanage. Laura and her family move into the orphanage in hopes of
restoring and converting it into a home for special needs children. While living there, Simon befriends
an imaginary boy named Tomas and five other ghost children within the house. But during a reception
party held at the house, Laura and Simon have an argument which sends Simon running off

Simon or to leave the orphanage drives Carlos away. Things begin to unravel as a result of

works on a personal level. The loss of a child can be best described as a primal instinctual fear,
causing an immediate reaction from the mother when her child is lost. The mother feels terror, fear,
and panic over this loss that will supply the feelings of disestablishment and disintegration. This fear
connects the audience to Laura s character, since it is widespread fear and phobic pressure point for
many mothers to lose a

Comparison Between Merce Cunningham And Martha Grahame
The world of contemporary dance is one that is constantly developing and pushing the boundaries of
what makes dance more than just movement. However, it is questionable that it would be in this
diverse state if it was not for a few revolutionary choreographers. Along with Martha Grahame is
could be argued that Merce Cunningham was a pioneering, revolutionary choreographer who
questioned given standards and procedures creating the diverse contemporary style that we know
today. Revolutionary can be defined as something radically new or innovative; outside or beyond
established procedure and principles (Dictionary.com, 2017). In order for something to be
revolutionary it has to be in relation to something else, this is certainly true for Cunningham s

Good Friday and Lent
All About Lent
Q: What is Lent?
A:Historically, Lent is the forty day period before Easter, excluding Sundays, it began on Ash
Wednesday and ended on Holy Saturday (the day before Easter Sunday). In recent years, this has been
modified so that it now ends with evening Mass on Holy Thursday, to prepare the way for Triduum.
Q: Why are Sundays excluded from the reckoning of the forty days?
A: Because Sunday is the day on which Christ arose, making it an inappropriate day to fast and mourn
our sins. On Sunday we must celebrate Christ s resurrection for our salvation. It is Friday on which we
commemorate his death for our sins. The Sundays of the year are days of celebration and the Fridays
of the year are days of penance.
Q: Why are the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the rest of the year Catholics in this country are permitted to use a different act of penance on
Friday in place of abstinence, though all Fridays are days of penance on which we are required to do
something expressing sorrow for our sins, just as Sundays are holy days on which we are required to
worship and celebrate God s great gift of salvation.
Q: Why are acts of repentance appropriate at this time of year?
A: Because it is the time leading up to the commemoration of Our Lord s death for our sins and the
commemoration of his resurrection for our salvation. It is thus especially appropriate to mourn the sins
for which he died. Human have an innate psychological need to mourn tragedies, and our sins are
tragedies of the greatest sort. Due to our fallen nature humans also have a need to have set times in
which to engage in behavior (which is why we have Sundays as a set time to rest and worship, since
we would otherwise be likely to forget to devote sufficient time to rest and worship), it is appropriate
to have set times of repentance. Lent is one of those set times.
Q: What are appropriate activities for ordinary days during Lent?
A: Giving up something we enjoy for Lent, doing of physical or spiritual acts of mercy for others,
prayer, fasting, abstinence, going to confession, and other acts expressing repentance in general.
Q: Is the custom of giving up something for Lent mandatory?
A: No. However, it is a salutary custom, and

expanding it as delivery system. The franchisees are apprehensive about the operational complexities
that such a system may accompany.

Expectancy Violation Theory

concluded from various experiments that people evaluate communication with others in a negative or

When people do not act in accordance with ones expectations, one resorts to evaluating their

about 7 months and even made plans to move to Johannesburg together. This is where I stay so I was
very excited. Unfortunately things did not quite work out as planned. My brother Khalid, moved to
Johannesburg two months before Candice did and in that time he met someone else. Her name is
Nishad. As a result of meeting Nishad, the relationship between him and Candice fell apart. This left
my friend broken hearted. Obviously I was furious about the whole situation and vowed that I would
not pursue any form of a relationship and stick to a maximum of polite conversation with Nishad. So
even before I met her, I decided I did not like her, for the simple reason that she was the reason my
friend Candice was now broken hearted and alone in Johannesburg. When I did finally meet Nishad I

Coca Cola And The Soft Drink Industry For A Long Time
Brands are a representation of the consumer s thought and opinion about the performance of a product,
and as a business owner, you might own the trademark, which identifies the brand, but consumers will
help define your brand (Boykin (no date)). Brands can also be defined as a combination of a product
name, trademark logo, unique packaging and design, but despite these features, a brand does not truly
exist yet because the product has no history. Therefore, this essay examines how and why Coca Cola
has dominated the soft drink industry for a long time compared to other producers and this explains
how branding has influenced the consumers and their buying decision.
The strength of a brand differs from one industry to another. In the past, branding was used to
determine what goods belong to the different producers, but today, as well as determining the
difference, it is used to influence the buying decision of consumers and this is why it has become a
very important tool. The introduction of branding has become an influential part in the way we as
consumers live our lives, this is because for every purchase made, it is decided based on the brand we
are most influenced by. In this modern society, brands not only represent the product, but also have a
strong connection with perceived quality, consumers lifestyle, social class and taste. Although, a
newly established brand may have material makers (Name, logo and unique packaging), the
perception of the brand strength cannot

Fear In Finding Nemo
Finding Nemo (2003) is a very touching animated film about a father s journey to find his son. Marlin,
the father, is known as overprotective and wary of all dangers of the sea. Nemo is his only son, and
after a near death experience, Marlin spends his days mostly confined to his sea anemone home
avoiding all possible dangers of the world. Nemo is a very curious and sheltered fish who wants to
experience the world. When this curiosity gets him kidnapped by a sea diver, Marlin s worst fear is
now his reality. Finding Nemo is a heartwarming tale with a strong theme of facing and conquering
your fears. The first scene in Finding Nemo, the audience sees Marlin and his wife admiring their soon
to be babies when suddenly the scene turns dark. The music in the film stops, along with all sounds of
ocean life. Dark shadows are created in the film to fill the audience with fear and dread. The fish are
then attacked by a larger hungry fish leaving Marlin s wife and all but one of their babies dead. The
fear and sadness is apparent when Marlin sheds a tear whilst holding the quivering egg that would
soon be his son. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The audience is easily able to identify moments during the film where danger is imminent by studying

fantasy as well. Realism is a natural style of acting used to make the movie seem 100% possible and
real in the eyes of the audience, (Goodykoontz Jacobs, 2014). The use of underwater sound effects,
fish activity, and bright, scientifically accurate color schemes pulls the audience in and begs them to
stretch their imagination to accept this new reality. Before every scene, all activity ceases, all music

A Beautiful Mind
How has the feature film you have studied captured and sustained the viewers interest?
Yes exactly and today in my seminar I will identify these key words to analyze and answer this
question.
In the film A Beautiful Mind , the director Ron Howard, along with writers, producers etc have used
many techniques in order to capture the viewers interest and sustain it through out the film. I have
identified the most important techniques used as:
how the actors are presented through characterization
various techniques of cinematography and special effects
and the fast pace of the film to make it exiting for the audience

This helps capture the viewers interest as they grow a connection with these characters, and sustains
the audiences attention as we learn more about them as the plot develops.
Ron Howard has used cinematography and special effects to create impact as it engages the audience.
It helps introduce an excellent main character and helps us experience the reality of the mental illness.
We see most of the film through the Nash s point of view, helping us understand his situation and the
reality of his delusions. Characters who are in Nash s hallucinations are always seen from his point of
view through handheld camera shots. A good example of these point of view shots is the scene where
Nash believes Parcher is going to hurt Alicia and his child so he lunges at her in an attempt to protect
her. However we also see through Alicia s point of view that John, there s nobody there and Nash
seems to be attacking her through a senseless act of violence.
When we do not see the story through Nash s eyes we see him through views such as circling
Steadicam shots like Nash s visit to the Pentagon. At first this type of shot arouses the exhilaration of
the visit but later on we can relate it back to his schizophrenia.
Lighting is also a technique commonly used by the director to set Nash apart from others. We often
see Nash s face in the shadows symbolizing that he is troubled and different from a normal person
socially, whereas cinematography has been used to light up

King Louis XVI was in charge of the monarchy and was deposed in 1792 and later executed in 1793

absolute monarchy was disbanded, the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen was
adopted. As reported by The French Revolution by history, com, the declaration proclaimed the
Assembly s commitment to replace the old system with one that was based on equal opportunity,
freedom of speech, popular sovereignty, and representative government. The National Assembly soon
learned that it wasn t easy to govern or be in charge of a country, this shown by the months it took to

Roman Catholic Church or the French government? or Who would be responsible for electing
delegates? In 1792, the Assembly declared war on Austria and

4.) The physician is planning to place a percutaneous central line to infuse TPN. Which site is
recommend and why?
A percutaneous central line is entered into the patient s subclavian vein. Because TPN solution is

The nurse is responsible for positioning the patient and should assess the patient throughout to see

Women neither become lesbians due to shortage of men nor because they were abused by men.
Lesbians, just like women in heterosexual relationships are subjected to physical, sexual and verbal

possessed by men is wrong and misplaced. Cases of lesbians being abused by their partners have been

societies in which friendships and relationships are void of men are protected from the natural control

economy with low secondary effects of inflation is time period between the Korean Vietnam Wars.
During this time the countries economy expanded at an annual average of 3.5% while the inflation rate
stayed at a minimal amount. Our central bank, along with the Clinton Administrations and many other
major economists seem to believe that any kind of growth in the economy of over 2.5% will trigger
inflation. That s why so many economists assumed that with the ever lowering unemployment rates of
recent, there would be huge increases in wages and it would sharply inflate prices. This same
assumption was made because of the Federal Reserve s actions in the past. In 1994 the Federal
Reserve tried slowing down the economy in the fight against inflation by raising interest rates. They
were not thinking of the opportunity costs of a million new jobs that could have been created, but were
not, due to the economies slumping standards.
Because of this, many personal incomes that could have been increased were not. This is just one

Similarities Between Troy Maxon And Fences
There are always three main roles that a person can have in life. You can either be the hero of your
own story, you can be the villain of your own story or the tragic hero/figure of your story. A hero is a
person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. A villain
is the person or thing responsible for specified trouble, harm, or damage. he person or thing
responsible for specified trouble, harm, or damage. One person can be seen as both the tragic hero and
villain of the story is Troy Maxson.
In the play and movie Fences, by August Wilson, we go see the life of the Maxson family in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the year 1957. Troy Maxson is the man of the house, being a husband,
father, brother, and a best friend. Throughout the play we see many aspects of Troy, but mainly the
aspects that make him a tragic hero. Troy does not like to accept that times are changing. So it is not
much of a surprise when we see that Troy is not very accepting of Cory wanting to play football or
that Troy does not believe negro baseball players are getting a chance in the big leagues. In Act I,
Scene III, Troy will not admit that Hank Aaron is changing the game and that Roberto Clemente s
coaches give him plenty of chances to bat. Troy finds weakly argued excuses to deny that baseball is
treating black players fairly and changing for the better. He even denies Cory of playing football
because he would rather have Cory working then to play sports. Troy doesn t see the fact that his good
intentions aren t that good and that he can t accept other s choices in life when they differ from his
own philosophy about life. When life starts crashing down around Troy, he realizes that his actions
were wrong and that, as a result, he is losing what he cares for most in his life. That is how Troy is a
tragic hero/figure in the play Fences.
Apart from being a tragic hero/figure, Troy Maxson can also be seen as a villain. Although he may not
be the villain that purposefully tries to ruin everything, the actions he commits can still make him
seem like a villain. One action that can make Troy seem like a villain is not allowing Cory to go on a
play football for North Carolina. Troy

Essay about The Theme of Coming of Age in Literature
The Theme of Coming of Age in Literature
There comes a time is each person s life when they reach the point where they are no longer children,
but adults. The transition from a child into a young adult is often referred to as the coming of age, or
growing up. The time when this transition occurs is different in everyone, since everyone is an
individual and no two people are alike. Certain children reach this stage through a tragic, painful event
which affects them to such extent that they are completely changed. Other children reach this time by
simply growing older and having a better understanding of the world around them. The coming of age
really is indefinite and cannot be marked in general overview. This stage in

In addition to the different ways that culture celebrates the coming of age it is also one of the worlds
most popular and beloved themes in literature.
The Circus is a touching story about a man s kindness and how the realization of this played an
important part of his son s coming age. In Dan Clark s The
Circus , it is obvious how this young man realizes what being kind really means. Clark states that We
didn t go to the Circus that night but we didn t go without. (1995, pg. 4) quote demonstrates that the
young man realizes that it is more important to be generous than it was to go to the circus. This was
the first step of this young man s transition into the adult life. More often than not, the plot, characters,
theme and conflicts in literature deal with the theme coming of age, are very realistic.
Yet another story is Gary Paulsen s Hatchet which is a story about one boy who must survive in the
wilderness, with only a hatchet as a weapon. This is a story of courage about how one child was
forced to transform into an adult in order to endure the circumstances surrounding him. Brian Robeson
was stranded on an island, after his plane crashed down while traveling to see his father. He had no
food, now way of communication and only a small hatchet to save his life. Through terrifying events,
Hatchet is the story of one man s struggle to survive. It is obvious how Brian Robeson was forced to

Beowulf Christian Influence Essay
Christian Influence on Beowulf and The Saga of King Hrolf Kraki
In Beowulf the Christian influence is revealed through approximately 70 passages in which the form
of expression or the thought suggests Christian usage or doctrine (Blackburn 3); The Saga of King
Hrolf Kraki is in its own way infused with Christian values even though it preserves remnants of the
cult of Odin.
The Christian element seems to be too deeply interwoven in the text of Beowulf for us to suppose that
it is due to additions made by scribes at a time when the poem had come to be written down. The
Christian element had to be included by the original poet or by minstrels who recited it in later times.
The extent to which the Christian element is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
E. Talbot Donaldson says: Yet there is no reference to the New Testament to Christ and His Sacrifice
which are the real bases of Christianity in any intelligible sense of the term. (Bloom 1). The minstrels
who introduced the Christian element probably had but a vague knowledge of Christianity, much of it
probably coming from other poets who were Christian, like Caedmon, who is mentioned in Bede s
The Ecclesiastical History of the English People (215 18). Caedmon s Hymn has but few lines extant:
. . . the power of the Creator, the profound mind
of the glorious Father, who fashioned the beginning
of every wonder, the eternal Lord.
For the children of men he made first
heaven as a roof, the holy Creator. . . .(Alexander 6)
The Christian references in Beowulf include four allusions to Genesis, including the Creation, Cain
and Abel and the Flood. There are dozens of references to God in the Christian sense, plus other
epithets for God: lord, father, creator, ruler, almighty, ruler of men, ruler of glory, shepherd of glory,
king of glory, guider of the heavens, ruler of victories, king of victories (Chadwick 24).
While the poet s reflections and characters statements are mostly Christian, the customs and
ceremonies, on the other hand, are almost entirely heathen/pagan (Ward v1,ch3,s3,n17): At the
beginning of the poem, there is the account of the pagan funeral rites of Scyld

Why Is Florence Nightingale Important
Florence Nightingale is known as not only one of the most important women of all time, but as one of
the most influential people in health history. She is known for her work in nursing and for establishing
modern nursing. Florence Nightingale dedicated herself to nursing entirely, refusing marriage to focus
solely on her practice. She worked hard and made an impact one can only imagine to inspire.
Florence Nightingale was born on May 12th, 1820, in Florence, Italy, to William and Frances
Nightingale. Growing up, Florence lived with her parents and her sister, Frances, in a well connected
British family. She was raised at Lea Hurst where she received education, which included German,
Italian, and French. She always had a keen interest in philanthropy ... Show more content on

She collected $50,000 by 1860 and the Nightingale School and Home for Nurses was established.
Because of having Crimean Fever from her work in crimea, she was not able to be the superintendant,
but instead closely watched the progress of the institution.
Not only did florence Nightingale revolutionize the world by nursing by establishing nursing schools
and emphasizing the importance of quality care and sanitation, but she also spread her knowledge
through writing books, such as Notes on Hospital (1859) and Notes on Nursing (1859). She spread her
knowledge and ideas so that everyone throughout the world could get proper care.
Florence Nightingales legacy is still remembered to this day. Many hospitals, museums, and schools
have been named in her honor and a number of statues built in her memory. Theater productins have
been written, as well as National Nurses day being celebrated every year on her birthday. Florence
Nightingale set the nursing world on fire and pushed it into motion. Nightingale will forever live on as

Hamlet Critique
In Shakespeare s Hamlet, the complexities that come with actions and the psychological weight of the
pillar of human uncertainty are brought to light. This parallels both the thoughts and reflections shown
in a critique of the play by Harold Goddard and a radio program depicting a prisons production of
Hamlet, The American life: Act V. The critique by Goddard, simply dissects and divulges the
connections Goddard believes to be crucial to gain a deeper understanding of Hamlet. Act V, does not
simply speak on the text, rather it is a piece that follows a high security prison s production of Hamlet
s fifth act. The program mostly focuses on the inmates and how the production both gives them
purpose in their life and how the play emotionally touches them. These prisoners find themselves
relating to one of the main themes in Shakespeare s play, regret, on a level that was almost
inconceivable to them before their involvement in the production. Due to these prisoners being
incarcerated, every single day they are reminded of the things they did wrong and are limited
freedoms because of it. However, the production does not alleviate this pain or make them feel better
about themselves, but rather the opposite. Hamlet is dark in nature, and often propounds the idea of
yearning for the past and the vast complexity of choices. Most of these prisoners are now equipped
with one of the wisest realizations one could make; nothing is certain, all choices have possibles

Democratic-Republican Party During The 1800 s
Democratic Republican Party being the best option during the 1800s
In order for the government to be felt as being dedicated to serve its citizens, then it simply means that
the party must have well stipulated manifestos which are achievable for the benefits of the entire
nation in the event that it has the ability to control the economy.
Democratic Republican Party:
Being the first opposition political party in the United States stands to be the best party to be
supported as their views were not intended to harbor aristocratic attitudes and their policies did not
placed too much power in the central government. In regard to this the democrats were totally against
the views of the federalist whose governance only intended to benefit the affluent

The Naturalist Known as Theodore Dresier Essay
The Naturalist known as Theodore Dreiser
Throughout history there has been many great authors that have created even greater works, and some
people refer to these as classics. However, what truly makes an authors work a classic? The idea of a
classic implies something that has continuance and consistence, and which produces unity and
tradition, and transmits itself, and endures. A true classic, is an author who has expressed his thought,
and who has spoken to all in his own peculiar style (Hutchins). Theodore Dreiser is the epitome of this
very definition. Dreiser drew upon his upbringing, life experiences, and the situations of his family
members and transformed these collective experiences into his very first novel, Sister ... Show more

Much like many of his other themes and symbols, this one also came as a result of his experiences,
most notably his childhood. Before he was born, his father owned a mill that eventually burned down.
This event caused him to turn into a cynical, bitter man who abused and tortured his family mentally.
This led to Dreiser coming to the conclusion that man is a pawn in the hands of a blind or malevolent
fate (Warren 11). This idea of fate can be further explained as Dreiser accepting that no one can
change the future and whatever is meant to happen to them will happen, whether it be good or bad.
This quote shows him coming to grips with the idea of human suffering, which he later in life proves
to be true in his quest for achievement in the big industrial cities. Blind fate exists heavily in the Sister
Carrie and can be a positive or negative thing. For example, the main character Carrie becomes an
immensely successful person while trying simply because of fate (where she and others happen to be
at certain times). Another example is George Hurstwood who cheated on his wife and subsequently
abandoning her by having an affair with Carrie (Dreiser). Blind fate plays its hand here by eventually
leading to Hurstwood s suicide after being abandoned by Carrie, much like he abandoned his wife and
child. This is an example of blind fate simply because it was by chance that he met Carrie and
ultimately because of that same chance that

The Case Of Jennifer And Jianshe Li
Case Study Journal Two
The case of Jennifer and Jianshe Li would be extremely challenging and difficult for any
counselor/therapist to handle and guide the couple through; furthermore, the goal would be to guide
the couple thorough the difficult decisions they have to make regarding Jennifer s prognosis and
pregnancy. As a helper, there would be many issues involved; in addition, there would be some
extremely sensitive material the worker would have to deal with. My main purpose would be to guide
them through the process. First of all. Jennifer has been diagnosed with a progressive disorder of the
on the central nervous system, which is linked to genetics. I would recommend they ask the specialist
how the pregnancy could affect Jennifer. Would the pregnancy be detrimental to her health? I would
suggest getting a second and a third opinion. Would the fetus survive if it was afflicted with the
disease? These are questions that only a specialist in neurology would be able to answer. I would help
them look for a specialist who is familiar with the disease; consequently, it would be beneficial to find
an expert who has dealt with it before. I would help the couple research the disease, then they can take
it from there. There are two routes for this couple; therefore, they can select to have their child and try
to minimize the risks. It was their dream to have a child, and I can empathize due I love my children.
If the specialist came to the conclusion that the pregnancy might

Excessive and enhanced use of nonsteroidal anti inflammatory medicines (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen
and aspirin may also be one of its causes.
This medication is used also to deal with Zollinger Ellison syndrome: a kind of tumor(pancreatic type)
which exceedingly stimulates the production of acid in stomach.
Important information to know:
1. Esomeprazole belongs to a category of medication known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) that
obstructs the acid producation process by the human stomach.
2. Many people think that eating spicy foods and taking stress can cause ulcers. As a matter of
fact, these elements do not cause ulcers but may however worsen the rate of peptic ulcers. This is
perhaps what we must recognize instantaneously in order to avoid many complications while using
Nexium as a purposeful medicine.
3. Nexium must be used exactly as advised by the doctor.Having it in lesser or greater quantity can
cause serious illnesses.
4. As per recent study, taking a dose of Nexium an hour before food yields best results.
5. Nexium must strongly be avoided with blood thinners such as Cilostazol (Pletal),various

Timeless Literature Project
Earlier this year I was assigned the Timeless Literature Project. I went straight to my mom and asked
what book she recommended I read, she told me to read Lord of the Flies. Now that I ve read it and
spoken to her many times about the book, I d like to share some thoughts that we generated in our
final discussion. We spoke about how the Cold War was a major influence in my mom s life and how
she thought that the book was set in that time. I talked about how I could relate Ralph s losing of
innocence. We both agreed that this story can be applied in areas of today s culture such as my mother
s pre school class, the turmoil in the middle east, or even Langston Hughes Middle School. The
overarching question we had was if all of this anarchy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, I greatly enjoyed reading the book and got a lot out of it. For one thing, recreations of this
story can be seen everywhere in society and in my life, I don t think I ll see the world through the
same lens. I thought that Ralph was a very relatable character, in that he only asked the boys to do one
thing (keep the fire going) and they wouldn t listen. I find myself in that situation quite often. Lord of
the Flies was a relatively short and fast paced book, so my mom hit that right on the nose, but the
recommendation was a little bit advanced for my reading level. Nevertheless, I could still understand
the main points and themes. I deem this book timeless because of it s unique ability to explain the dark
desires of human nature in a way that applies to everyone. My discussion with my mom was awkward
at first, but as we got into the groove of things I learned a lot about her and gained a whole new
perspective on the book. I recommend this book to a peer with a greater reading ability than me, and a
better grasp on the themes of life because having that deeper understanding of literature and human
existence would only enhance the reader s experience with Lord of the

  • 2. Realism In Frank Capra s Mr. Smith Goes To Washington Frank Capra s Mr. Smith Goes to Washington develops the themes of idealism, realism, and cynicism. Idealism is the way of looking for the best in everything and not really seeing the bad. Realism is the way of looking at things the way they are in the real world. Cynicism is the way of thinking that no one has any good in them and that the whole world is horrible. Capra s Mr. Smith Goes to Washington brings out the themes of idealism, realism, and cynicism through the main characters, Clarissa Saunders, Senator Joseph Paine, and Jefferson Smith. Clarissa Saunders came to Washington with eyes that were big blue question marks now they are green dollar signs. She says this while talking to her friend and what she means is that she was naive because he is talking all about how he went sight seeing and loves all the ideals that America stands for, she even lets reporters come and make fun of him. After Saunders gets to know Jeff she begins to care for him and starts to fall in love with him. One night while Saunders and Jeff are drafting a bill she learns that he loves Susan Paine and this breaks her heart. She leaves the city but suddenly realizes that she needs some of Jefferson s idealistic qualities and goes back. Saunders goes to find Jeff at the Lincoln Memorial and tells him to fight for what he believes in. This is a turning point for Saunders because she has found out how to balance idealism with realism. Senator Joseph Paine was once a very good man but has now become ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Messias Performance Art Analysis How does Nando Messias utilise gender in his performance art, incorporating drag and queerness to expose his stimuli and being a homosexual? In this essay, I will be focusing on the performance artist Nando Messias and his artwork. Messias is an abject artist who concentrates on performance art, theatre and dance. (Nando Messias, Undated) His performances combine beautiful images with a fierce critique of gender, visibility and violence. (Nando Messias, Undated). Gender, drag culture and queerness plays a significant part in Messias performance art and as an artist, he utilises this to create an impact for the spectator and to represent life events and themes appearing in society. As an artist, he portrays the female body in a male body creating a non binary gender. Such historical perspectives shared a theoretical assumption that woman could be understood along a gendered binary (male/female, man/woman, masculine/feminine) (McCann, 2016, 227) Messias dresses in drag and uses theatrical and conventional female identifying elements to highlight the female body, highlighting the sissiness that he creates in his pieces for his character. The term sissy boy in McInnes s view is working the tensions of gender recognition and destabiliz[ing] the formation of ordered masculinity and femininity . (Davies, 2013, 124) Messias utilises both masculinity and femininity in his works due to his drag identity but exploits his feminine identity further. His work relates clearly ... Although the demand for denim is practically unlimited, the maximum demand for corduroy is 510 yards per month. The manufacturer has 6,500 pounds of cotton and 3,000 hours of processing time available each month. The manufacturer makes a profit of $2.5 per yards of denim and $3.25 per yard of corduroy. The manufacturer wants to know how many yards of each type of cloth to produce to maximize profit. Formulate the model and put into standard form. Solve it a. • 5. The Movement Towards Cloud Computing The world, as a whole, is changing. It is true that some sections of the world are remaining primitive in terms of industrialization, but the general population is a progressive one. There are incredible advancements being made in the industries of transportation, communications, aerospace and defense, as well as almost every industry related to the culture of society. As these advancements progress and companies innovate, the demand for different products changes. For example, the demand for DVDs today is no where near what it once was. In today s society, there is a huge demand for technology based products. Due to this increased demand for technology, there has been an impressive amount of innovation on how technology is both used and sold. The largest of these innovative movements has been the movement towards cloud computing. In about as basic of a definition there is, The Cloud is simply a way to store data online. Instead of saving something to a hard drive, it can be saved to The Cloud. As one of The Cloud s many advantages, this allows files to be accessed from any device at any location. However, it also has some disadvantages. This is arguably the most relevant issue in the business world today, which is why the sources below will help to analyze the benefits of cloud computing versus the costs of it. The first source will be entirely related to the definitions of the terms associated to cloud computing, including The Cloud itself. There are a plethora of terms ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Cla Research Paper Mechanism of the Health promoting Effects of the Food Ingredient Evidence suggests that the biological effectiveness of CLA are due to the separate actions of cis 9, trans 11 and trans 10, cis 12 isomers. It is likely that numerous health effects are enhanced by synergistic actions of these isomers. Findings such as, inhibition of chemically induced carcinogenesis, enhanced immune system, reduction of atherosclerosis, enhanced growth, fat reduction are attributed to a mixture of these CLA isomers (Pariza, Park, Cook, 2001). Insulin resistance can also be caused by increased triglycerides and free fatty acids intake. This is due to the effect Triglycerides and free fatty acids have on insulin stimulated signal pathways, translocation protein 4 and glucose uptake (Choi, Jung, Park, Song, 2004). It is found that CLA has a regulatory effect on glucose and lipid metabolism regulators. CLA affects the PPAR y ligand, a major receptor that influences the expression and transcription of genes that are related to the metabolic effects of glucose and lipids. Such protein regulators as aP2, insulin dependent glucose transporter 4, FATp, ACS and adiponectin are all influenced by increased CLA. (Xiao Rong Zhoua, Chang Hao Suna, Jia Ren Liua, b, Dan Zhaoa, 2008). It was also theorized that CLA may act on other glucose regulators such as phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase, glucose 6 phosphate, glucokinase, sterol regulation element finding protein, acyl coenzyme A oxidase, fatty acid synthase and uncoupling protein. Testing done on rats with a mixture of cis 9, trans 11 and trans 10, cis 12 CLA had found that the only effected regulatory agents were regulators involved in gluconeogenesis such as Phosphoenol carboxykinase and transcriptional factors, sterol regulating element binding protein 1c and PPAR y (Choi, Jung, Park, Song, 2004). The main regulatory effect on insulin resistance was the effect on ligand PPAR y, a key regulator in lipid homeostasis. Mixtures of CLA isomers consisting of cis 9, trans 11 and trans 10,cis 12 effect gene expression of PPARy mRNA in rats. It was found to have affected the levels of aP2, FATP, ACS and adipoenectin mRNA expression in adipose tissue. CLA increased These regulatory proteins resulting in an uptake of free fatty acids into the adipose tissue and decreasing uptake into the muscle tissue. This has been found to improve muscle insulin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Define Community Analysis Community, what is community? How would you define it? Community can be defined as a geographic location in a way that a group of individuals live in the same area like a neighborhood, a city, a district, a town, or a country. In simplest terms, it is where you live. However, individuals can also feel a sense of community through the place where they grew up or where they often go and visit. It can also be a group of individuals who have certain characteristics in common such as religion, race or ethnicity, culture, beliefs, professional and economic ties, interests, and more. Individuals refer themselves to particular attributes or affinities (what individuals like to do). For example, individuals say I belong to an Asian community or I belong to an art community. As such, community bestows one a sense of identity (who people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though individuals are different and unique from each other, they all come to one because of that one particular shared interest. For me, community is bigger than that. I believe that community is diversity, kinship, unity, identity, cooperation, passion, similarity, strength, motivation, and guidance. The word community does not only limit itself to a group of individuals who have shared characteristics, interests, and experiences, but it also goes beyond the idea of a group of diverse individuals coming together. These are individuals who have different ethnicities, race, religion, culture, traditions, and so forth. Within a community is where one develops relationships with other people over time by means of interacting and communicating regularly, whether it would be in person or online. Thus, a better understanding of the surroundings and in greater span, the world, is formed. Community is where it starts. Differences are set aside. After the Russians began complete occupation of Poland and Germany was driven out, Irene still couldn t seem to catch a break. • 9. Transition Mechanism Of The Internet Protocol Essay Transition mechanism is a technology that facilitates the transitioning of the Internet from the Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) infrastructure Mechanism to allow a smooth transition to the new version of the IP protocol, without the need for an abrupt change. With this idea in mind, several of these mechanisms were created in order to facilitate the coexistence of both versions. During the early stages of IPv6 deployment it was believed that adoption of the new protocol would be quick enough and that IPv6 would have gained widespread adoption before IPv4 ran out. This, however, did not happen which is why transition mechanisms are an even more relevant topic today. Transition mechanisms can be classified according to the different techniques they apply: Dual stack Tunneling Translation It is also possible to classify the different mechanisms based on whether they assume that the underlying infrastructure is predominantly IPv4 or IPv6. Although in the beginning there were IPv4 networks that started gradually adding IPv6 access, as IPv4 ran out, providers started considering the deployment of IPv6 only networks. This means that transition mechanisms are needed to allow customers in these IPv6 only networks to access networks that still only support IPv4. Many mechanisms have been proposed and more are currently being discussed in the IETF. The following is a description of the most widely deployed and more mature mechanisms. Saki s Stories and the Impression they Create about Adult Child Relationships In order to answer this question I am going to be focusing on three of Saki?s stories; the story teller, the lumber room and the open window. Children at the time Hector Munro (Saki) was writing these stories would have had very vivid imagination; this is shown in Saki s story The Open Window when the niece makes up the saga of Mr Sappleton s death, illustrates how imaginative children can be, and that adults are very easily fooled. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is shown in Saki?s story ?The Open Window? when the Mr Nuttel believes the nieces story because he has no reason to think that a fifteen year old girl has any reason to lie, especially about something as horrible as death. Again these also relates to the theme of children being able to fool adults, because they are seen as innocent. I am now going to write about the characters in Saki?s stories. Each story contains an Aunt, who is perceived a strict and a person who follows the rules of Edwardian society very closely, and children, who tend to break the regulations that Edwardian society has, and by some other characters, like the Batchelor in the story ?The Story Teller? and Mr Nuttel in the story ?The Open Window? Firstly I am going to concentrate on the Bachelor in ?The Story Teller?. He is different to the rest of the adults in the early stories because he tells the children a story about a young girl is ?horribly good?. The concept of someone been horribly good is alien to Edwardian society. Furthermore in the same story he also mentions that the girl who is ?horribly good? gets killed by a wolf. This is another idea that would not have been thought possible to happen in Edwardian society, because they believed that you can never be too good. It was started in 1943 by Ingvar Kamprad when he was 17 years old, from a shed on the family farm. In the beginning, the company sold fish, Christmas magazines, and seeds to eventually add pens, then furniture to its product list. In the beginning the company had used the milk truck as part of its delivery system to get orders to the train station. In 1953 when the milk truck changed it route, it was no longer available to get items to the train station. This motivated Ingvar to invest in a nearby idle factory and convert it into a warehouse. IKEA had to start designing more of its furniture in house and found a manufacturer who would produce IKEA designed furniture. In this process, the manufacturer was in Poland where they found it is 50% cheaper than to manufacture in Sweden, allowing him to cut prices even more. Here the furniture industry continued to evolve with new technology and cost savings. In 1958, IKEA had opened its first store on site of the first warehouse in Almhult. This was done to supplement the mail order business; it was to be a place where customers could come to see the furniture set up. This went well; the business even started selling storage containers for car roofs in order for customers to take home their purchases. Ingvar realized that Almhult was a good drive for many of its customers so he decided to put in a restaurant so they could relax and refuel. This was a hit and became an integral feature of all IKEA stores. Competitors argued that IKEA products were low quality, which was quickly diminished when the furniture was tested for quality by a Swedish design laboratory. The laboratory not only stated that IKEA s quality was good, but maybe better than that of other Swedish furniture manufacturers with prices much lower. Due to this publicity, sales took off, being as it was now acceptable in middle class households. IKEA had opened a store in Stockholm ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Food Spoilage And Its Effect On The Food Industry Abstract The health and economic impact of food spoilage to both consumers and producers are enormous, it has a detrimental effect on the consumer s health and negatively impacts the bottom line of the producers. In the past monitoring of food quality are done using a sensor which observes changes in temperature, releases of gases which are not effective and every year million health cases result from food spoilage. This paper introduces an intelligent monitoring system that uses NFC based sensor that has the capability to detect release gases from spoiled food through the change in PH. This system uses a PH sensor and Near Field Communication (NFC) device which is a subset of RFID. The Fake Coin As time progressed and slot machines became more and more sophisticated, so did the scams associated with them. Arguably the most famous scam of all is the fake coin, devised by Louis The Coin Colavecchio, a player would create a fully fake coin that a slot machine would recognise as legitimate. This scam achieved such infamy that several documentary films have been made about its uses and origins. The Piano Wire It was a popular tool amongst mobsters in the 1960s, but it seems that slot game players also found plenty of use for it as well. During the 1980s a group of men would use piano wire on a slot machine. By sliding the 20 inch wire into the machines wiring they were able to rig the machine and trigger its jackpot, banking $50,000. However, their victory was short lived, as they would be caught by the police shortly after. The Light Wand At first glance a light wand looks like a fairly innocuous device, but to those who like to rig slot games it is anything but. A: Because Sunday is the day on which Christ arose, making it an inappropriate day to fast and mourn our sins. On Sunday we must celebrate Christ s resurrection for our salvation. It is Friday on which we commemorate his death for our sins. The Sundays of the year are days of celebration and the Fridays of the year are days of penance. Q: Why are the ... Brands can also be defined as a combination of a product name, trademark logo, unique packaging and design, but despite these features, a brand does not truly exist yet because the product has no history. You can either be the hero of your own story, you can be the villain of your own story or the tragic hero/figure of your story. A hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. A villain is the person or thing responsible for specified trouble, harm, or damage. he person or thing responsible for specified trouble, harm, or damage. One person can be seen as both the tragic hero and villain of the story is Troy Maxson. In the play and movie Fences, by August Wilson, we go see the life of the Maxson family in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the year 1957. Troy Maxson is the man of the house, being a husband, father, brother, and a best friend. Throughout the play we see many aspects of Troy, but mainly the aspects that make him a tragic hero. Troy does not like to accept that times are changing. So it is not much of a surprise when we see that Troy is not very accepting of Cory wanting to play football or that Troy does not believe negro baseball players are getting a chance in the big leagues. In Act I, Scene III, Troy will not admit that Hank Aaron is changing the game and that Roberto Clemente s coaches give him plenty of chances to bat. Troy finds weakly argued excuses to deny that baseball is treating black players fairly and changing for the better. He even denies Cory of playing football because he would rather have Cory working then to play sports. Troy doesn t see the fact that his good intentions aren t that good and that he can t accept other s choices in life when they differ from his own philosophy about life. When life starts crashing down around Troy, he realizes that his actions were wrong and that, as a result, he is losing what he cares for most in his life. That is how Troy is a tragic hero/figure in the play Fences. Apart from being a tragic hero/figure, Troy Maxson can also be seen as a villain. Although he may not be the villain that purposefully tries to ruin everything, the actions he commits can still make him seem like a villain. One action that can make Troy seem like a villain is not allowing Cory to go on a play football for North Carolina. Troy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Essay about The Theme of Coming of Age in Literature The Theme of Coming of Age in Literature There comes a time is each person s life when they reach the point where they are no longer children, but adults. The transition from a child into a young adult is often referred to as the coming of age, or growing up. The time when this transition occurs is different in everyone, since everyone is an individual and no two people are alike. Certain children reach this stage through a tragic, painful event which affects them to such extent that they are completely changed. Other children reach this time by simply growing older and having a better understanding of the world around them. The coming of age really is indefinite and cannot be marked in general overview. This stage in life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to the different ways that culture celebrates the coming of age it is also one of the worlds most popular and beloved themes in literature. The Circus is a touching story about a man s kindness and how the realization of this played an important part of his son s coming age. In Dan Clark s The Circus , it is obvious how this young man realizes what being kind really means. Clark states that We didn t go to the Circus that night but we didn t go without. (1995, pg. 4) quote demonstrates that the young man realizes that it is more important to be generous than it was to go to the circus. This was the first step of this young man s transition into the adult life. More often than not, the plot, characters, theme and conflicts in literature deal with the theme coming of age, are very realistic. Yet another story is Gary Paulsen s Hatchet which is a story about one boy who must survive in the wilderness, with only a hatchet as a weapon. This is a story of courage about how one child was forced to transform into an adult in order to endure the circumstances surrounding him. Brian Robeson was stranded on an island, after his plane crashed down while traveling to see his father. He had no food, now way of communication and only a small hatchet to save his life. Through terrifying events, Hatchet is the story of one man s struggle to survive. It is obvious how Brian Robeson was forced to come of age or grow ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Beowulf Christian Influence Essay Christian Influence on Beowulf and The Saga of King Hrolf Kraki In Beowulf the Christian influence is revealed through approximately 70 passages in which the form of expression or the thought suggests Christian usage or doctrine (Blackburn 3); The Saga of King Hrolf Kraki is in its own way infused with Christian values even though it preserves remnants of the cult of Odin. The Christian element seems to be too deeply interwoven in the text of Beowulf for us to suppose that it is due to additions made by scribes at a time when the poem had come to be written down. The Christian element had to be included by the original poet or by minstrels who recited it in later times. The extent to which the Christian element is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... E. Talbot Donaldson says: Yet there is no reference to the New Testament to Christ and His Sacrifice which are the real bases of Christianity in any intelligible sense of the term. (Bloom 1). The minstrels who introduced the Christian element probably had but a vague knowledge of Christianity, much of it probably coming from other poets who were Christian, like Caedmon, who is mentioned in Bede s The Ecclesiastical History of the English People (215 18). Caedmon s Hymn has but few lines extant: . . . the power of the Creator, the profound mind of the glorious Father, who fashioned the beginning of every wonder, the eternal Lord. For the children of men he made first heaven as a roof, the holy Creator. . . .(Alexander 6) The Christian references in Beowulf include four allusions to Genesis, including the Creation, Cain and Abel and the Flood. There are dozens of references to God in the Christian sense, plus other epithets for God: lord, father, creator, ruler, almighty, ruler of men, ruler of glory, shepherd of glory, king of glory, guider of the heavens, ruler of victories, king of victories (Chadwick 24). While the poet s reflections and characters statements are mostly Christian, the customs and ceremonies, on the other hand, are almost entirely heathen/pagan (Ward v1,ch3,s3,n17): At the beginning of the poem, there is the account of the pagan funeral rites of Scyld ... • 43. Hamlet Critique In Shakespeare s Hamlet, the complexities that come with actions and the psychological weight of the pillar of human uncertainty are brought to light. This parallels both the thoughts and reflections shown in a critique of the play by Harold Goddard and a radio program depicting a prisons production of Hamlet, The American life: Act V. The critique by Goddard, simply dissects and divulges the connections Goddard believes to be crucial to gain a deeper understanding of Hamlet. Act V, does not simply speak on the text, rather it is a piece that follows a high security prison s production of Hamlet s fifth act. The program mostly focuses on the inmates and how the production both gives them purpose in their life and how the play emotionally touches them. These prisoners find themselves relating to one of the main themes in Shakespeare s play, regret, on a level that was almost inconceivable to them before their involvement in the production. Due to these prisoners being incarcerated, every single day they are reminded of the things they did wrong and are limited freedoms because of it. However, the production does not alleviate this pain or make them feel better about themselves, but rather the opposite. Hamlet is dark in nature, and often propounds the idea of yearning for the past and the vast complexity of choices. Most of these prisoners are now equipped with one of the wisest realizations one could make; nothing is certain, all choices have possibles consequences and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. The Naturalist Known as Theodore Dresier Essay The Naturalist known as Theodore Dreiser Throughout history there has been many great authors that have created even greater works, and some people refer to these as classics. However, what truly makes an authors work a classic? The idea of a classic implies something that has continuance and consistence, and which produces unity and tradition, and transmits itself, and endures. A true classic, is an author who has expressed his thought, and who has spoken to all in his own peculiar style (Hutchins). Theodore Dreiser is the epitome of this very definition. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Much like many of his other themes and symbols, this one also came as a result of his experiences, most notably his childhood. Before he was born, his father owned a mill that eventually burned down. This event caused him to turn into a cynical, bitter man who abused and tortured his family mentally. This led to Dreiser coming to the conclusion that man is a pawn in the hands of a blind or malevolent fate (Warren 11). This idea of fate can be further explained as Dreiser accepting that no one can change the future and whatever is meant to happen to them will happen, whether it be good or bad. This quote shows him coming to grips with the idea of human suffering, which he later in life proves to be true in his quest for achievement in the big industrial cities. Blind fate exists heavily in the Sister Carrie and can be a positive or negative thing. For example, the main character Carrie becomes an immensely successful person while trying simply because of fate (where she and others happen to be at certain times). Another example is George Hurstwood who cheated on his wife and subsequently abandoning her by having an affair with Carrie (Dreiser). Blind fate plays its hand here by eventually leading to Hurstwood s suicide after being abandoned by Carrie, much like he abandoned his wife and child. This is an example of blind fate simply because it was by chance that he met Carrie and ultimately because of that same chance that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My main purpose would be to guide them through the process. First of all. Jennifer has been diagnosed with a progressive disorder of the on the central nervous system, which is linked to genetics. I would recommend they ask the specialist how the pregnancy could affect Jennifer. Would the pregnancy be detrimental to her health? I would suggest getting a second and a third opinion. Would the fetus survive if it was afflicted with the disease? These are questions that only a specialist in neurology would be able to answer. I would help them look for a specialist who is familiar with the disease; consequently, it would be beneficial to find an expert who has dealt with it before. I would help the couple research the disease, then they can take it from there. There are two routes for this couple; therefore, they can select to have their child and try to minimize the risks. I went straight to my mom and asked what book she recommended I read, she told me to read Lord of the Flies. Now that I ve read it and spoken to her many times about the book, I d like to share some thoughts that we generated in our final discussion. We spoke about how the Cold War was a major influence in my mom s life and how she thought that the book was set in that time. I talked about how I could relate Ralph s losing of innocence. We both agreed that this story can be applied in areas of today s culture such as my mother s pre school class, the turmoil in the middle east, or even Langston Hughes Middle School. For one thing, recreations of this story can be seen everywhere in society and in my life, I don t think I ll see the world through the same lens. Lord of the Flies was a relatively short and fast paced book, so my mom hit that right on the nose, but the recommendation was a little bit advanced for my reading level. Nevertheless, I could still understand the main points and themes. I deem this book timeless because of it s unique ability to explain the dark desires of human nature in a way that applies to everyone. My discussion with my mom was awkward at first, but as we got into the groove of things I learned a lot about her and gained a whole new perspective on the book.
