Heart Of Darkness By Joseph Conrad Essay
One of the biggest fallacies one could make is believe with certainty that humankind is only one way
(good or bad) without taking into account that ascertaining the precise percentage of how good and
how bad humanity is almost inconceivable. The only thing one can infer is that every human and
everything created by humans has two sides to it: the form and the substance. Joseph Conrad s novella
Heart of Darkness shows precisely how dangerous it is to put our trust in a concept, for example:
colonization, without realizing that most of the time one only gets to see the form and not the
substance.
In this essay, my purpose is to demonstrate that Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad is mainly a
novella about the discrepancy between substance and form. In order to prove my point I will bring
into discussion the matter of colonization and two of the characters: the General Manager and Kurtz.
Firstly, in Heart of Darkness colonization is perceived from two different perspectives: the first
perspective of the ones not involved directly, the second one of the ones who had an active role in the
action. In regard to this, the form is represented by how colonization was considered by the outsider,
namely the one who believed it to be an act of kindness and an attempt to bring light in the land of
darkness. For instance, Marlow s aunt, who was the one who helped him fulfil his dream of going to
Africa, maintained that her nephew was: like an emissary of light, something like a lower

Sustainability Report of BP
What responsibility did the executives of BP have in making more socially responsible and safety
conscious decisions at the expense of not meeting the consumer demand of cheap gas and thus
lowering the returns for shareholders and their own compensation?
Executives in many prominent companies must constantly be aware of consumer sentiments in regards
to business practices. As such, executives have a very compelling social obligation for safety and
compliance. This is particularly important in industries that can cause systemic damage to both the
society and the environment. Oil companies are no different in this regard. A drilling mistake can have
catastrophic consequences for all stakeholders involved, as evidenced by the case. Ultimately,
executives should put ethical and social considerations first as it will directly influence profits. By
doing what is best for the customer, the business will eventually profit. Many of the socially
responsible initiatives started by company s are really an effort to increase sales. It is proven that
promotions that focus of socially responsible initiatives sell more than regular price promotions.
Executives should therefore be aware of cause marketing and its implications on the bottom line.
Recent research has indicated that consumers are extremely value conscious and are eager to patronize
businesses that share their own values and ethics (Menon, 2012). In short, consumers are swayed by
causes that they care about. They appreciate the

Parent s Motivation To Come To Canada
Everyone has a dream they want to fulfill in their lifetime; big or small. Whether it is to own a house
or to have a better education, they have something they want to achieve. The Canadian dream is a way
to live freely without any worries and hardships. Through hard work, success will surely follow. The
Canadian dream is combined with individual success, care for others, concern for the country; it is
also to respect others, their background, and their religions. The reason behind my parent s motivation
which lead them to come to Canada was because they wanted to have a good life and so they could
practice their religion freely. In Pakistan, there were too many life threats which is why they wanted to
leave the country as soon as possible.

Space and Mars s Habitability
Synopsis: This research involves discovering how Martian astronauts might deal with their supplies
during a long term mission to Mars and on Mars. The goal is to show that people can develop
technologies to help humans survive in space and on Mars in the future, such as producing food,
recycling water and air, and storing energy. The important technology is the Controlled Ecological
Life Support System (CELSS) that can help in dealing with the supply issues as well as some possible
methods to make energy on Mars. The overall approach of this mission is to create background
knowledge about space habitability for humans in the manned mission to Mars. Upon researching this
issue, I have found that with such powers of invention people should ... Show more content on

The weight of those supplies affects the efficiency of a launch. It is too heavy for the spacecraft to take
off and overcome the gravitational pull of the Earth to get into space. We know that astronauts
traveling to Mars would not be able to stay for a couple days or weeks like the Apollo space mission.
Rather, the Martian astronauts will need to remain in space at least one to three years during the
mission (NASA 2012). If we spend more than nine months in space, we have to build a shelter which
can protect the astronauts from being exposure to radiation risk from the Sun (NASA N.d.a).
Therefore, we need to have good shielding, such as water and cement, but they are very heavy.
Additionally, the astronauts have to bring food, drinking water, air, clothes, medical supplies, and
other things that they need for the mission. All of these things added up together will take about three
million pounds. That is infeasible for them to make it all at once because a spacecraft just only lift
fifty thousand pounds against the Earth s gravity into space. So, they have to make sixty launches for
their supplies to be on Mars. It takes a longer time and costs a lot of money (NASA N.d.a).
Therefore, astronauts can just bring with them some canned foods that are dehydrated and preserved
to keep the foods for a long time and to save weight for the spacecraft (NASA 2012). Also, soybeans
and wheat are suitable because they are light weight, very nutritious, and take a small amount of

Analysis On Defoe s Roxana
Maddox, James H. On Defoe s Roxana. vol. 51, no. 4, 1984, pp. 669 691 Looking at the framework of
Defoe s previous novels, Maddox demonstrates how although Roxana follows a similar pattern of
other characters, her outcome is drastically different. In former novels, when faced with a moment of
devastation, the character divided from their previous self, and in turn gained control. From there, the
character is faced with yet another unfavorable situation, but this time they are able to overcome it in
their new powerful state. On the contrary, Roxana divided from her previous self, but still faced
destruction and tragedy in the end. Maddox also examines closely the relationship between Roxana
and Amy, and how their characters follow this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, after the appearance of Susan, Roxana becomes increasingly more secretive and closed off
from her audience. Molesworth makes the argument that since the abandonment of her first husband,
Roxana is unable to trust anyone. As a result of this, all of her relationships will ultimately fail
whether it be with potential lovers, her children, longtime friend, and even the audience. Molesworth
also shows how Roxana s detachment goes as far as to reduce her children to genderless and nameless
individuals, referring to them as simply it. Snow, Malinda. Arguments to the Self in Defoe s Roxana.
Studies in English Literature, 1500 1900, vol. 34, no. 3, 1994, pp. 523 536. Snow indicates within her
argument that Roxana is one of Defoe s darkest novels, by means that his character is unable to go
through the transformation from sinful to righteous. Rather, the line between her past and present self
has never been crossed. Along with this concept, Snow illustrate how Roxana is a peculiar character
since she debates with herself about what she should do next, and predicts possible outcomes of the
path she will take. In this manner, Roxana is incredibly self aware and is able to reason with her
actions in a way that is uncommon for individuals at the time. This realization of the self that she
possesses is attributed to the way that she both justifies her actions, and denies herself the right to be
saved. Westfall,

A Strategic Planning And Management System Essay
Introduction
Organizations and industries today have undergone rapid and accelerating change, creating uncertainty
and complexity in the business environment. Markets are increasingly competitive and pressured to do
things faster, better and cheaper. They are challenged to develop new organizational characteristics
such as expertise and innovation in order to quickly respond to changes in technology and customer
preferences. Organizations can no longer rely on traditional analytical approach to understand their
industry. Nowadays, intangible assets are just as important as physical assets and the Balanced
Scorecard (BSC) is an innovative approach that considers the financial and non financial perspectives
in determining the performance level of an organization.
Question 1
The BSC is a strategic planning and management system designed to translate an organization s
mission and vision into a comprehensive set of objectives, performance measures and
implementations in order to achieve business goals. The BSC retains financial metrics as a measure
for company success, but supplements these metrics from three additional perspectives customer,
internal process, and learning and growth (Kaplan and Norton 1992, 1993). Financial data are
analyzed to understand financial performance of the organization. Customer feedback is used to gather
customer satisfaction on the products or services. Internal business processes are evaluated by
assessing quality, productivity and innovation.

One thing that I learned from this story is that you cannot always believe what you see you have to
believe what you feel. Morrie stated, And if you are ever going to have other people trust you, you
must feel that you can trust them too even when you re in the dark. Even when you re falling. I also
learned that you should always look at life in a unique way. During the story Morrie is always looking
at life through a different perspective such as when he realized that he is becoming incapable of doing
everyday things. ...I have to look at life uniquely... I can sit here with my dwindling days and look at
what I think is important in life. I have both the time and the reason to do that. Also through this story
I learned that the most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in.
Sometimes we think that we do not deserve to be loved and sometimes we think that love is
meaningless. In the story Morrie suggests Let it come in... Love is the only rational act.
By meeting with his former professor, Mitch Albom is able to take a look in on his life and learn
things that took Morrie years to learn. Overall I thought that Tuesdays with Morrie was a great and
interesting novel. Out of all the lessons taught to Mitch by Morrie, my favorite would have to be that
you should look at life in a unique

Factors That V Leiden Thrombophilia
Factor V Leiden Thrombophilia Thrombophilia is a disorder that contains several genetic components
that can cause an individual to form arterial and venous thrombi more readily. Many serious medical
complications can result from thrombus formations that are often times fatal. In fact, a venous
thromboembolism (VTE) is relatively common and a thrombosis of the deep veins of the legs or
pelvis can lead to morbidity and mortality. Small portions of this patient population even develop
pulmonary emboli (PE), which can be fatal. This major medical problem affects 1 in 1,000 persons per
year and approximately 1 in 130 Americans younger than age 65 develop a VTE (Crow, 2003;
Kujovich, 2011). Interestingly enough, inherited thrombophilia can be identified in half of the patients
presenting with VTE (Kujovich, 2011). In 1993, European investigators Dahlback and his colleagues
recognized a new mechanism for familial thrombophilia. Their research was initiated in order to
investigate the cause for a number of young adults that presented with VTE, who had a family history
of thrombosis but no detectable genetic link. As a result, a previously unrecognized mechanism
associated with activated protein C resistance (APCR) was found Factor V Leiden mutation (Crow,
2003). Factor V Leiden is considered the single most common cause of hereditary thrombophilia and
is often linked to thrombosis due to hereditary hypercoagulability. Studies have indicated that factor V

Fate Of William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Fate in Romeo and Juliet In modern times, and in the Elizabethan era, fate plays an important role in
people s lives. Many people believe it to be written in stone, and unchangeable. Many others believe it
to be controlled by a person s own actions. In Romeo and Juliet, fate is one of the main themes,
described as having power over many of the events in the play. Fate is often called upon, wondered
about, and blamed for mishaps. However, where fate is blamed in the play as the ultimate cause for a
mishap, there is always an underlying action, or combination of them, on the part of human beings
that decides the consequences. Human weakness, the loss of self control, is always the direct cause of
a bad choice or mishap, and not fate itself. One of the most noted instances where fate is blamed for a
mishap is when Romeo cries out the he supposedly is fortune s fool. He claims that fate has brought
on Mercutio s death, and has lead him to kill Tybalt in revenge. In Act 3, Scene 1 of Romeo and Juliet,
Romeo is seen to be upset at Mercutio s death and predicts that the days black fate on more days doth
depend. (III, I, 118) Tybalt then re enters and Romeo becomes more upset that Tybalt is triumphant
with Mercutio being dead (III, I, 121). As Romeo becomes overwhelmed with Mercutio s death and
Tybalt s joy over it, he suddenly declares that either he or Tybalt must die with Mercutio (III, I, 128).

The Wonderful Bedroom Essay
The Wonderful Bedroom
Have you ever wondered how something so simple as your bedroom could have so much meaning?
How a place where one usually just sleeps and doesn t return until the next night, could be so special
to someone? It does make one think, once stopped and thought about. To some, it means as much as a
gym does to a basketball player or as much as a tree does to a monkey. But then there are also those
who still think of their bedroom as just a place to sleep and prepare themselves. I guess things have
different meanings for each person, but for many including myself, their bedroom ranks near the top
of the list. A bedroom is meaningful because often it is where one grows up, where lots of time is

And what could possibly be a more relaxing place than your own room? It s amazing how one can
concentrate so well in their room, unlike a college student who may have trouble trying to focus
through all of the distractions.
Not only is the bedroom a perfect place to sleep and study, but what if you just want to get away and
relax? In your room, you get to control things for yourself, such as the temperature. It s not like
outside where you can t do anything about the weather, but rather, you choose how cool or warm you
want it. You get to make your bed as comfortable as you wish. This is your space, it s not fit for
anybody else s needs but your own. Ever try and watch what you want on TV while there are four
other members of your family fighting to grab control of the same thing? Well, I have the perfect
solution. Move the TV in your own room and lock the door. It s wonders how many more
opportunities you have when you have your own room. I ve always had my own room and pretty
much take it for granted. I always have the option of taking a nap in peace and quiet since I have never
had to share. The list of positives is endless when it comes to having your own room
A final and probably the greatest factor of all is the individuality of one s room. This is what declares
the difference from one person s room to the next. It brings out one s character and personality.
Usually, you can tell how a person is by some factors

among the elderly and manDementia, a mental disease that causes memory problems, has steadily
been increasing in frequency among the elderly and many are calling it type 3 diabetes. And scientists
have noticed a link between the diet and the probability to get dementia (Pizzorno, 3 9).
Dementia is a neurodegenerative disease most common in senior citizens over the age of sixty five
and mot often the symptoms are forgetfulness, issues recalling personal history, and self care. It is
caused by an accumulation of neurofribrillary and amyloid beta. Amyloid beta is a fragment of protein
that wasn t broken down and built up and disrupted transmissions between neurons, causing memory
loss (Pizzorno, 3 9) As your brain produces insulin diabetes speeds up plaque production in the brain,
causing a disruption in the signaling of insulin production, which causes the memory loss. Because
insulin helps the memory, those with diabetes have a sixty five higher probability of getting dementia.
Fructose rich diets cause insulin production to skyrocket; consequently constant high levels of insulin
cause the brain to block the signals (Mercola). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

History And Evaluation Of Total Quality Management
CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION
1.1: History and Evaluation of total quality management.
Total quality management (TQM) is a management philosophy developed by Deming based on his
experiences in US industry before and during the Second World War. The successive implementation
of TQM by Japanese industry, but not by the USA, is widely credited for the former s marvelous post‐
war economic modernization and the current massive trade inequity between the two countries.
Deming (1986) published a book entitled Out of the Crisis , in which he summarized his ideas and
encouraged US industry to implement them as the Japanese had done so successfully. The TQM
philosophy has also been promoted by a number of prominent writers, principally Crosby (1979,
1984), Ishikawa (1983, 1985) and Juran (1988, 1989).
Although TQM was originally intended for the industrial sector, Deming (1986) pointed out in the
preface to his book Out of the Crisis that his management principles could be applied equally well in
service industries. The service industries, he emphasized, include government provisions, education
and the delivery . In fact, whenever an organization has a series of activities directed towards a clear
final result, it has business processes which can be examined and developed by TQM techniques.
There are number of researchers in the field of education including, Byrnes (1992), Bonsting (1992),

Brown V. Board Of Education Case Analysis
Brown v. Board of Education was a landscape changing court case that altered the public school
system forever. The ruling that separate educational facilities are inherently unequal, therefore, a
violation of the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution, ended racial
segregation in public schools (archives.gov). May 2014 was the 60th anniversary of this court
decision, and it is an important time to reflect on the effects that this ruling has had on our country.
According to research, black student achievement has greatly improved since the desegregation of
schools (Strauss, 2014). With the help of proper school supplies and conducive learning environments,
students of all races have been able to achieve higher academic goals. The results of this court case
extend beyond black students; Brown v. Board of Education opened the door for educational equality
for a great deal of other students. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Board of Education created the foundation for other court cases to desegregate schools on grounds
other than race. The Brown decision inspired advocates for children identified with disabilities to
pursue desegregation and other equality strategies (Minow, 2004). Thanks to Brown, students with
disabilities are able to attend schools with children their own age. While this case is over 60 years old,
America can still see and feel the influence of its verdict. Today, we have a diverse student population
within our public schools. However, more can still be achieved for equality in our society. The
struggle with racism and segregation are still very present in America; we see proof of their existence
in the news almost every day. The shootings in Charleston, SC and Ferguson, MO are evidence that
heinous crimes, which extend beyond education, are still committed in America based on race.
However, the removal of the Confederate flag and movements to end racially motivated crimes are

In the content of the period 1485 1587, to what extent did the Northern Rebellion of 1569 represent a
significant threat to the security of the Tudor State?
Rebellions caused a serious threat to monarchs; and as a result of the War of The Roses and Henry VII
s usurpation in 1485, the Tudor Dynasty had effectively been founded on Rebellion so it may be
possible to assume that the Tudor Dynasty could be removed by rebellion. The Tudor period can be
seen as a time of unrest as each Tudor monarch had at least one rebellion during their reign. The
majority of the Tudor rebellions were a significant threat as they attacked the authority of the Crown;

This to an extent is true as the Treason Act and Henry s Royal Supremacy were all seen as clear
examples of Cromwell s policies. Moreover, Henry VIII had said like traitors and rebels have
attempted, and not like true subjects, as ye name yourselves which illustrates that Henry VIII felt they
were a threat as they were questioning his judgement as king. As well as this, the Yorkshire rebellion
had political connotations as there was resentment in Yorkshire of a Lancastrian monarch when a
Yorkist has been overthrown. Moreover, the revolt involving Perkin Warbeck, had the support of
James IV and Charles VIII as well as the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilan, threatening Henry VII s
position as ruler as there was a possible danger than he may have been overthrown. However, the
support from these influential figures wasn t strong and Warbeck had little support south of the border.
In addition, the Wyatt s rebellion was also a political threat, questioning the security of the Tudor
State. This was due to the proposed marriage of Mary Queen of Scots to Philip of Spain. Nevertheless,

Ancient Chinese Dynasties
There were many Chinese dynasties that rose and fell throughout China s history. The history of
China, in a way, is a history of battles and wars. These wars were so important that they changed the
structure of Chinese culture both then and now. Three dynasties that rose and fell during ancient China
were the Han, the Tang, and the Song. The rise and fall of these great dynasties form a link that runs
through Chinese history.
The Han period was one of the golden ages of Chinese civilization. The Han dynasty lasted from 206

Cotton From 1850-1860
Factors that influenced the increased production of cotton from 1800s to the 1860s was different
resources, demand, and advanced technology.
To begin with, natural, human, and capital resources played a huge role in the growth of cotton
production. Land was a very essential natural resource to cotton farmers. With fertile land, farmers
could grow their big business, cotton. Also, because of land, the number of cotton farms in America
began to increase greatly. For instance, in Texas, cotton farms grew an astounding 251.6% from 1850
1860. An important human resource that helped increase cotton manufacture was slaves. Slaves were
needed to pick and plant cotton as it was a long and tedious job. From 1800 1860, the amount of
slaves increased 342% and by 1860, the slave population amounted to over 3 million (Davidson, 388).
Money and profit was a very imperative capital resource. After farmers collected their profits, they
would buy more slaves, land, and machinery in hopes of improving their cotton business and growing
more cotton (Davidson, 388 389). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The growth of the textile industry in Britain boosted the cotton sales in America. Textile industry was
dependent on cotton and 75% of their cotton came from farms in the South(Dattel). The demand of
cloth also affected the demand of cotton. The North needed cotton for their cloth and textile industry
after it grew during the Industrial Revolution(Dattel). The War of 1812 caused Americans to start
creating their own industries and goods after Britain cut off vital goods out of the United States. In this
period of time, there was a huge demand for cotton as American citizens standard of living grew.
Since there was a huge demand, farmers made a large profit. (Davidson, 312 and

Instructional Design Models And Learning Theories Are Used...
Sink, D (2008), claims that Instructional Design Models and Learning Theories are used after the
needs of an organization have been identified (Sink, D. 2008). Instructional Systems Design Models
provide designers effective ways to identify solutions to support the needs of an organization. This
paper will discuss the characteristics of the Experiential Learning Model, Attention, Relevance,
Confidence, Satisfaction Model, and the Gerlach and Ely Models along with providing a comparison
and contrast of these models.
Characteristics of ELM, ARCS, and Gerlach and Ely Models
Experiential Learning Model (ELM): Based on early work from John Dewey, Kurt Lewin, and Jean
Piaget, ELM was developed in 1974 by David A. Kolb and Ron Fry in 1974. This model emphasizes
the idea that learning occurs when the student takes interest in the subject matter and engages in self
initiated learning. Learning is an on going process that is based on experience, interactions with the
environment, and involves obtaining knowledge through social interactions. The ELM is composed of
four elements: Concrete experience, observation and reflection, Forming abstract concepts, and testing
in new situations and five steps which consist of: Experience, Share, Process, Generalize, and Apply
(Moore, Eric T. 2013).
Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction (ARCS) Model: The model was developed by
John Keller in 1979 who believed that motivation of students had direct correlation to their ability to

Character Analysis Of Walter Lee Younger In Lorraine...
In some plays the experience of an important character changes him or her. In others the experiences
of an important character leaves him or her almost completely unchanged. In Lorraine Hansberry s A
Raisin in the Sun, Walter Lee Younger goes from being selfish to being the man his family needs. The
road to becoming the man they needed was very rocky and difficult at times. In the beginning Walter
is very selfish and only seems to care about the liquor store, he even asks Beneatha why she can t just
be a nurse or marry a rich man. The reason he says this to her is because he wants her to not go to
medical school. Walter would rather invest the money rather than use it to pay for her schooling.

him with the large sum of money. This money makes him happy and friendly. It causes him to become

money to Willy Harris he lets his self loathing side come out. Walter knows that he screwed up and he
really does not know how he will face the consequences. Walter redeems himself when he refuses to
take the money from Mr. Lindner. Though he was completely willing to swallow his pride for the sake
of his family. This shows that Walter would do what it takes for the overall well being of his family.
Although Walter makes the worst mistakes out of any other character in the play, he also undergoes
the greatest transformation. His journey takes him from a selfish jerk, who was obsessed with get rich

US Imperialism In The Late 19th Century
The United States hasn t always been imperialistic. Out of the United States 230 years as a country, it
has only been within the last 100 years it has practiced imperialism. This is due in part of the infancy
of the U.S. as a nation. The U.S. maintained a policy of isolationism until the late 19th century. In the
late 19th century, the U.S. began to become a major player in international trade and the arena of
world affairs and therefore needed more breathing room. Imperialist acquisitions during the late 19th,
and early 20th centuries impacted the United States in multiple positive ways. Politically, the United
States proved to the world that they were a force to be reckoned with. Economically, the United States
established beneficial trade connections, and were able to make money from other countries. And
lastly, the United States benefited socially by spreading and mixing our culture and traditions with
others around the world. The dawn of the 20th century ushered in an era of extreme imperialistic
policies. President McKinley was assassinated in 1901 and Vice President Roosevelt assumed the
presidency. It is during Roosevelt s administration in which the United States imperialism policy ...

June 2010, the European Union enacted measures similar to those approved by the U.S. Congress that

Causes Of Women s Suffrage
Women s suffrage took a long time due to many reasons. Some of the reasons are gender roles and
society. During that time, a woman s job was to take of the home and children and her role was limited
in many ways. Since women s rights and role were so limited, many people did not want women to
vote or get involved in politics. In addition, some people felt that women were not educated or
biologically men were more capable than women. Therefore, women were not seen as worthy enough
to politically participate and vote, so they were denied the right to vote. This ties into society because
it was seen socially unacceptable for women to want to vote so the suffragists were seen in a very
unflattering and negative light by most of society during the 19th and 20th century. Many political
cartoons showed the Suffragettes in a bad light and also warned men that their wives would forgo their
roles at home, become controlling and more masculine because they want to get the right to vote.
Therefore, these cartoons further reinforced many fears in society that women would abandon their
families and husband because they wanted to vote. As a result, most of society did not understand why
a woman would want to vote if her role was in the home and they felt that women did not belong in
politics. This attitude and view by society is why I think it took such long time for women to get the
right to vote. Many women rallied for the right to vote such as Alice Paul, Lucy Burns, Emily
Leighton,

Commodity Racism
I watched the first black mirror episode and then the episode 3 (episode 1 stood out the most). One of

distorting or exaggerating reality. pertaining to or creating a hyper reality. This was really big when
she started to look in the mirror and laugh different ways and she automatically got a response on how
people would rate her based on how her laugh and how she looked was. Another part was when her
son was on the couch playing a video game with the virtual reality headset which made the rest of the
world invisible. When his mother walked in and asked him a question he had no clue that she asked
him a question, this also relates to when they were getting tea and how everyone was on there phone
and not talking to other people they were living their world through their phone. This is probably the
most realistic term that relates the episodes to the real life today. With the invention of the virtual
reality headsets this is one thing I could see and already seeing become a reality. Another part where
you saw this in the episode was when she meet the people going to tranquility con, those people were

Satire was one of the terms that I was the most in the videos. Satire means a humorous critique this

The History And Culture Of English Literature
The history and culture of English literature are profound in the literary writings from the beginning of
the Periods of Old English, Middle English, Elizabethan, Romantic, and the Modern. All of these
periods are named purposely by intellectual, political movements, historical events, and artistic styles
that are evident in the literary writings during their respective timeframes. As an example, it is during
the Old English Period (Anglo Saxon) where the English language is born. The epic poem Beowulf is
for certain the most influential literary work of this period and possess national epic status in England.
The poem Beowulf draws on Christianity to change the pre conversion myth by elucidating the many
things that cannot be explained by science or the laws of nature, including things characteristic of or
relating to ghosts, gods, or things beyond nature, turning into a lesson on faith. Adversely, it is the
Middle English period where the influence of Norman language (drawn from the French Romance
language), culture and literature take shape. This period starts with the Norman invasion in 1066,
where we learn of a woman in the federal aristocracy, marriage viewed as a political act and the
introduction of courtly love. It is mysticism and magic that plays a role in the analysis of ideas and
stories of the Catholic belief during the Middle English Period which is evident in the literary works
of Beowulf and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. A historically

While the Chicago office prepares many of the larger returns, Rosemont s numerous industry

To find this information, it is often necessary to access the partnerships general ledger and evaluate the
contributions that were made during the year. The general ledger is also helpful in discerning the
nature of certain vague account titles such as building improvements. When determining how these
assets should be depreciated for tax purposes, the general ledger provides adequate detail to determine
the appropriate MACRS recovery period.
After the client provided trial balance has been reformatted and its accounts have been made more
specific, I often have to perform an accrual to cash conversion. This is because the clients books are
kept on an accrual basis but their returns are prepared under the cash basis method of accounting.
Therefore, because the cash method only reflects transactions for which cash was paid or received in
the current period, accounts such as accrued expenses, accounts payable, and prepaid rent cannot be
included on the return. Therefore is necessary to make adjustments to the trial balance before it is
imported into the tax software. For example, to remove accounts receivable from the trial balance
before I import it, I would credit accounts receivable and debit revenue. Once all accrual accounts
have been reversed out, I use the newly created tax trial balance to complete the actual return.
Once the return is completed and deemed correct, I then update the basis schedules for each member
of the partnership to account for their outside

Sexual Harassment Papers
Sexual harassment is something that is happening daily. Trying to cope with the emotional damage
can be a lot worse than the harassment itself. It can have an affect on your job, or personal life.
Employees who are harassed report lower levels of job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and
job performance. Employees experience higher levels of psychological distress and physical problems
than those who are not harassed. Victims of workplace sexual harassment experience a range of ill
effects, such as job dissatisfaction and absenteeism.
Victims also exhibit nervousness, anger and irritability, low self esteem and elevated stress.

There are four types of support that are included in the interactive coping. One approach recommends
both pity and determined behaviors that attend to the victim s needs, such as helping students deal
with internal reactions, providing information, and assisting as students decide what to do. A second
approach indicates the use of strategies, such as providing information or advice. A third approach
supports the rights and concerns of accused perpetrators above all others, indicating the need to ask
pointed questions to prove students who make false complaints. Women rarely use complaint
procedures to help with coping of sexual harassment. They usually try to avoid the perpetrator or talk
to a friend and react with rejection and anxiety.
Women who are sexually harassed seek help from a friend or family member. Even though women
may have difficulty coping with sexual harassment, they might find themselves in a dangerous
situation because of the lack of support they get and a sense of separation.

Overtime Character Analysis
Many people in life do not sit and think about the consequences that would be the outcome of their

It was hard to believe that she was only eighteen and no one found it harder to believe than Daisy. I
was starting to think I had got on the wrong bus! What a nightmare! If I ever step foot in such a
vehicle again it will be too soon. Lily sat down next to her best friend and felt the usual sensation of
jealousy towards Daisy s natural panache and the unmistakable underdressed feeling she got whenever
next to her despite being on a bus. The feelings would fade though. They always did. Daisy then
leaned in close and spoke in a hushed voice; Did you know it is the ungodly temperature of minus five
degrees outside? Lily laughed. The bus started again and they left the bus stop

Essay On Should You Get An Mba Before Launching Your Startup
Should You Get an MBA Before Launching Your Startup? The Value of an MBA or Business
Education in Today s Competitive Arena for Entrepreneurship
Engineers, self made entrepreneurs and bootstrap enthusiasts believe that the right person with the
right work ethic can succeed in business with a good idea activated at the right time. However, in
today s complex, collaborative and highly technical business environment, a degree in business or at
least some strong business courses can give you the knowledge and tools to handle a startup like a pro
and reduce the learning curve that always appears in any business startup. Managing Growth
The need to manage the growth of your business seems to demonstrate that you re doing something
right, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Graduate Management Admission Council s Alumni Perspectives Report chronicles a rise in the
number of business graduates who start their own businesses. Entrepreneurs are growing younger,
better educated and committed to applying business skills to their own startup ideas. [3]
Although the demands of modern marketing, software implementations and integrating software
applications into sales platforms make it difficult to succeed in business without a thorough grounding
in modern sales, marketing and financing techniques, experienced engineers often succeed in business
without receiving formal educations on standard business practices. The United States encourages this
technology boom with its West Coast IT industry headquartered in Silicon Valley and other areas.
Education is a big key to business success even if it isn t limited to business courses. Engineers,
coders and developers are coming up with big ideas, but it often takes people with business
backgrounds to transform these ideas into practical ideas for sales and marketing. Benefits of Getting
a Business Degree
The benefits of getting a business degree can set you up for business success even if your
revolutionary idea for a startup doesn t succeed. Although there s no single path to business success. A
business degree and ideally an MBA will stand you in good stead when you encounter typical business
problems as your company grows. The benefits of

Valentine s Day Crisis Summary
Liberty University
Response:
To implement a corporate advertising program at JetBlue would be beneficial in their public relations
issues stemming from the customer service snafu they experienced while planes sat on a tarmac.
However, in JetBlue s situation a corporate advertising program would not be sufficient to overcome
the customer service and communications issues stemming from the Valentine s Day crisis. What
JetBlue needed was an overhaul of their company culture which needed to start at the top. David
Neeleman recognized this when he discovered how many employees lacked the necessary training to
assist during a crisis. This lack of training, combined with the weather, is what ultimately caused all of
the delays in getting people

The Debate Over Time To Reduce The Budget Deficit
We have a long story of debt, but it seems no one has been able to make it better. If the debt is
increasing over time, the government has a budget deficit. Charles C. Turner, et al, define deficit as
spending that exceed revenue (482). In history, basic deficit or debt was usually from over spending
from a war and economic issues like a recession or depression. Then the government had a budget
deficit almost every year between 1970 and 1997, but tax cut and more spending on defense by
President Reagan in 1981 added more growth to the deficit. Also, another cause is from reducing of
productivity seem in the GDP and lower tax rate (tax cut) (483). Even when the government had some
budget surplus, still, it could not cover the debt. In 2012, the debt grew over $ 16 trillion, (482 483)
and has increased more in recent year plus 2.9 percent of budget deficit in 2016 (The 2016 Long Term
Budget Outlook, 2). To manage the economic depression, sometime policymakers cut the taxes and
increase spending again by putting more money into private sectors (Turner, 483); therefore,
government goes further with the budget unbalancing. There are several reasons that lower tax rate
will not reduce the budget deficit closer to a balance.
First, lower tax rate will lower revenues. Overall tax cuts for a new coming year will bring different
amounts of revenue from the previous year if the tax rate falls below a previous percentage. For
example, Ramesh Ponnuru said that Mr. Trump s plan will

Example Of Validation Research Paper
Ricki Lee Coulter, who is a popular Australian recording artist, once said I don t live my life seeking
validation from people on social media ( Validation Quotes ). This is a topic that can be broken down
into many areas. There are so many more forms and views of validation which will be debated about
in this paper. By the end of this paper, there should be an understanding of how validation affects
someone psychologically and how the search for validation can be misunderstood when it comes to
social media.
Validation is such an interesting word isn t it? When most people think of the word validation, they
think that it means to validate something or someone. Obviously that is not fully true because you can
t use the word in the definition. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Psychologically, you act in a much different way when it comes to validation or its counterpart non
recognition. According to The Importance of Validation by Linda Sapadin Ph.D, when in the presence
of non recognition people tend to be less self confident and more depressed. On the other hand, when
people are exposed to a healthy amount of validation they tend to be happier, brimming with pride and
self confidence. Although validation may seem to come just from others, sometimes the most
important form of validation is self validation. This is where you validate yourself before others can
validate or non validate you. When you self validate first, there is a base amount of self confidence
and happiness that comes from yourself. This is beneficial to your psychological wellness because if
someone tries to belittle you by non validation then you have a built up wall that can block the bad
out. Too much validation can lead to narcissistic ways, but Sapadin says When you recognize your
good traits, you are not being narcissistic. When you praise yourself for your accomplishments
(provided you don t go overboard), you are not being self centered (Sapadin Ph.D). As well as
blocking out some of the bad, self validation can keep others validation from going to your head.
Sapadin states that don t shy away from praising yourself and let the praise you receive from others be

How Women s Sexuality Is Portrayed By Hip Hop Music Videos
This research paper will examine the difference in how women s sexuality is portrayed in hip hop
music videos. Are women empowered, or are they objectified when they express their sexuality? The
public image of how women move, speak, sound, look, dance, talk, dress, and act is controlled by
corporate networks who present these societal norms to people through many mediums. Dominating
how women are portrayed in music videos, men are introducing audiences to certain tropes and ideals
women are expected to live up to. This heteronormative, White male fantasy, is unrealistic for women
and creates an unhealthy obsession and expectation that females of all sizes and races are supposed to
embody. In Women in Popular Music Media Empowered or Exploited? (p.9), Jamie Glantz asks Are
women represented as the subjects of their own desires, or do they seem to be preforming as the
objects of someone else s? Men and women alike intend for women to follow these societal rules.
Audiences do not realize the messages they are being fed through hip hop music videos. The popular,
male vocalized, music video for the summer hit of 2013 Blurred Lines, which appeared to be a
lighthearted video of Robin Thicke and Pharell dancing with women wearing swimsuits. The male

The Soviet Union And The Central Asian Republics
Topic 1: Evaluate the extent to which the Soviet Union was successful in transforming the traditional
tribal and clan identities in the Central Asian Republics?
Introduction
Central Asia, also known the middle Asia is the core region of Asian continent, which stretches from
the Caspian Sea in the east to China in the West and from the South to the Afghanistan and Russia in
the North (Collins, 2002). The Soviet Union was a socialist state in that existed between 1922 and
1991, in Eurasia. The union was a one party federation, the communist party and with its capital in
Moscow. It had multiple sub national republics with its economy and the government being highly
centralised. It had its roots in the revolution of 1917 October. The Soviet ... Show more content on

Those observers who valued cultural preconditions would have expected a new Asia to be
underwritten from Asian values or a theocracy from Islamic values or Leninist legacy to perpetuate
something like the Soviet regime. The theorists who did see the modernisation of the economy were
also doubtful when it came to the popular government in the region (Vladislav, 2009). The Soviet
Central Asia s most important economic indicators saw it as notably higher than Africa and South Asia
and still came out nearing the bottom of the post communist world with much of rural economies and
less of a middle class (Robert, 2009). The high level of literacy in Central Asia although suggested
that democratic beliefs and civil society could emerge. This seemed unlikely to outweigh other
legacies, but the preconditions thinking of every stripe anticipated uniformity of regimes and at the
same time a uniformly nondemocratic regime all across the post Soviet Central Asia.
Even if the future was projected along the continued communism of even continued disagreements
along ethnicity and Islam remained oblivious, one thing was certain that democracy transition of any
kind was not likely. All in all a transition began later on in Kyrgyzstan. As from 2002, all the five
Central Asian states are under one form or another of authoritarian rule (Bishkek, 2014). To suggest
that there are limits in the transition is

Roe Vs Rhode Abortion
Forty five years ago, the Supreme Court of the United States infamously declared in the case Roe v.
Wade that abortion was a women s right for the entirety of the pregnancy. 1 This case also limited the
states ability to regulate abortions performed in the three trimesters of pregnancy. Since this decision,
over 60 million unborn children have been killed by abortion.2 By contrast, 1.1 million soldiers have
died in all the U.S. wars combined.3 In a country founded upon the principles of life, liberty, and the
pursuit of happiness, abortion is one of the greatest downfalls of those principles. It must be
eliminated.
In his book Abortion: A Rational Look at an Emotional Issue, Dr. Robert Sproul declares, At the heart
of the abortion issue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Numerous states are also passing an Ultrasound bill, adding a paragraph to the already existing
Woman s Right to Know legislature requiring the physician to offer the woman the chance to see her
ultrasound before the abortion. Oddly, though this bill frequently receives bipartisan support, some
who claim to be pro choice object to the ultrasound bill, maintaining that it interferes with the doctor
patient relationship, legislating the private conversations that occur about a legal medical procedure.
13 However, many women have rejected this excuse, returning that they asked to see their abortion
and were denied. These women often say that they would have kept their unborn child had they seen
the ultrasound as requested.14 The Women s Right to Know bill and its additional Ultrasound bill
protect the rights of the women, frequently initiating a change of heart without directly prohibiting the

  • 3. Heart Of Darkness By Joseph Conrad Essay One of the biggest fallacies one could make is believe with certainty that humankind is only one way (good or bad) without taking into account that ascertaining the precise percentage of how good and how bad humanity is almost inconceivable. The only thing one can infer is that every human and everything created by humans has two sides to it: the form and the substance. Joseph Conrad s novella Heart of Darkness shows precisely how dangerous it is to put our trust in a concept, for example: colonization, without realizing that most of the time one only gets to see the form and not the substance. In this essay, my purpose is to demonstrate that Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad is mainly a novella about the discrepancy between substance and form. In order to prove my point I will bring into discussion the matter of colonization and two of the characters: the General Manager and Kurtz. Firstly, in Heart of Darkness colonization is perceived from two different perspectives: the first perspective of the ones not involved directly, the second one of the ones who had an active role in the action. In regard to this, the form is represented by how colonization was considered by the outsider, namely the one who believed it to be an act of kindness and an attempt to bring light in the land of darkness. For instance, Marlow s aunt, who was the one who helped him fulfil his dream of going to Africa, maintained that her nephew was: like an emissary of light, something like a lower ... • 4. Sustainability Report of BP What responsibility did the executives of BP have in making more socially responsible and safety conscious decisions at the expense of not meeting the consumer demand of cheap gas and thus lowering the returns for shareholders and their own compensation? Executives in many prominent companies must constantly be aware of consumer sentiments in regards to business practices. As such, executives have a very compelling social obligation for safety and compliance. This is particularly important in industries that can cause systemic damage to both the society and the environment. Oil companies are no different in this regard. A drilling mistake can have catastrophic consequences for all stakeholders involved, as evidenced by the case. Ultimately, executives should put ethical and social considerations first as it will directly influence profits. By doing what is best for the customer, the business will eventually profit. Many of the socially responsible initiatives started by company s are really an effort to increase sales. It is proven that promotions that focus of socially responsible initiatives sell more than regular price promotions. Executives should therefore be aware of cause marketing and its implications on the bottom line. Recent research has indicated that consumers are extremely value conscious and are eager to patronize businesses that share their own values and ethics (Menon, 2012). In short, consumers are swayed by causes that they care about. They appreciate the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The goal is to show that people can develop technologies to help humans survive in space and on Mars in the future, such as producing food, recycling water and air, and storing energy. The important technology is the Controlled Ecological Life Support System (CELSS) that can help in dealing with the supply issues as well as some possible methods to make energy on Mars. The overall approach of this mission is to create background knowledge about space habitability for humans in the manned mission to Mars. The weight of those supplies affects the efficiency of a launch. It is too heavy for the spacecraft to take off and overcome the gravitational pull of the Earth to get into space. We know that astronauts traveling to Mars would not be able to stay for a couple days or weeks like the Apollo space mission. Rather, the Martian astronauts will need to remain in space at least one to three years during the mission (NASA 2012). If we spend more than nine months in space, we have to build a shelter which can protect the astronauts from being exposure to radiation risk from the Sun (NASA N.d.a). Therefore, we need to have good shielding, such as water and cement, but they are very heavy. Additionally, the astronauts have to bring food, drinking water, air, clothes, medical supplies, and other things that they need for the mission. All of these things added up together will take about three million pounds. That is infeasible for them to make it all at once because a spacecraft just only lift fifty thousand pounds against the Earth s gravity into space. So, they have to make sixty launches for their supplies to be on Mars. It takes a longer time and costs a lot of money (NASA N.d.a). Therefore, astronauts can just bring with them some canned foods that are dehydrated and preserved to keep the foods for a long time and to save weight for the spacecraft (NASA 2012). On Defoe s Roxana. vol. 51, no. 4, 1984, pp. 669 691 Looking at the framework of Defoe s previous novels, Maddox demonstrates how although Roxana follows a similar pattern of other characters, her outcome is drastically different. In former novels, when faced with a moment of devastation, the character divided from their previous self, and in turn gained control. From there, the character is faced with yet another unfavorable situation, but this time they are able to overcome it in their new powerful state. On the contrary, Roxana divided from her previous self, but still faced destruction and tragedy in the end. Molesworth makes the argument that since the abandonment of her first husband, Roxana is unable to trust anyone. Molesworth also shows how Roxana s detachment goes as far as to reduce her children to genderless and nameless individuals, referring to them as simply it. Snow, Malinda. Arguments to the Self in Defoe s Roxana. Studies in English Literature, 1500 1900, vol. 34, no. 3, 1994, pp. 523 536. Rather, the line between her past and present self has never been crossed. In this manner, Roxana is incredibly self aware and is able to reason with her actions in a way that is uncommon for individuals at the time. This realization of the self that she possesses is attributed to the way that she both justifies her actions, and denies herself the right to be saved. Westfall, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Strategic Planning And Management System Essay Introduction Organizations and industries today have undergone rapid and accelerating change, creating uncertainty and complexity in the business environment. Markets are increasingly competitive and pressured to do things faster, better and cheaper. They are challenged to develop new organizational characteristics such as expertise and innovation in order to quickly respond to changes in technology and customer preferences. Organizations can no longer rely on traditional analytical approach to understand their industry. Nowadays, intangible assets are just as important as physical assets and the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is an innovative approach that considers the financial and non financial perspectives in determining the performance level of an organization. Question 1 The BSC is a strategic planning and management system designed to translate an organization s mission and vision into a comprehensive set of objectives, performance measures and implementations in order to achieve business goals. The BSC retains financial metrics as a measure for company success, but supplements these metrics from three additional perspectives customer, internal process, and learning and growth (Kaplan and Norton 1992, 1993). Financial data are analyzed to understand financial performance of the organization. Customer feedback is used to gather customer satisfaction on the products or services. Internal business processes are evaluated by assessing quality, productivity and innovation. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Factors That V Leiden Thrombophilia Factor V Leiden Thrombophilia Thrombophilia is a disorder that contains several genetic components that can cause an individual to form arterial and venous thrombi more readily. Many serious medical complications can result from thrombus formations that are often times fatal. In fact, a venous thromboembolism (VTE) is relatively common and a thrombosis of the deep veins of the legs or pelvis can lead to morbidity and mortality. Small portions of this patient population even develop pulmonary emboli (PE), which can be fatal. This major medical problem affects 1 in 1,000 persons per year and approximately 1 in 130 Americans younger than age 65 develop a VTE (Crow, 2003; Kujovich, 2011). Interestingly enough, inherited thrombophilia can be identified in half of the patients presenting with VTE (Kujovich, 2011). In 1993, European investigators Dahlback and his colleagues recognized a new mechanism for familial thrombophilia. Their research was initiated in order to investigate the cause for a number of young adults that presented with VTE, who had a family history of thrombosis but no detectable genetic link. As a result, a previously unrecognized mechanism associated with activated protein C resistance (APCR) was found Factor V Leiden mutation (Crow, 2003). Factor V Leiden is considered the single most common cause of hereditary thrombophilia and is often linked to thrombosis due to hereditary hypercoagulability. • 14. Fate Of William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet Fate in Romeo and Juliet In modern times, and in the Elizabethan era, fate plays an important role in people s lives. Many people believe it to be written in stone, and unchangeable. Many others believe it to be controlled by a person s own actions. In Romeo and Juliet, fate is one of the main themes, described as having power over many of the events in the play. Fate is often called upon, wondered about, and blamed for mishaps. However, where fate is blamed in the play as the ultimate cause for a mishap, there is always an underlying action, or combination of them, on the part of human beings that decides the consequences. Human weakness, the loss of self control, is always the direct cause of a bad choice or mishap, and not fate itself. One of the most noted instances where fate is blamed for a mishap is when Romeo cries out the he supposedly is fortune s fool. He claims that fate has brought on Mercutio s death, and has lead him to kill Tybalt in revenge. In Act 3, Scene 1 of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo is seen to be upset at Mercutio s death and predicts that the days black fate on more days doth depend. (III, I, 118) Tybalt then re enters and Romeo becomes more upset that Tybalt is triumphant with Mercutio being dead (III, I, 121). And scientists have noticed a link between the diet and the probability to get dementia (Pizzorno, 3 9). Dementia is a neurodegenerative disease most common in senior citizens over the age of sixty five and mot often the symptoms are forgetfulness, issues recalling personal history, and self care. It is caused by an accumulation of neurofribrillary and amyloid beta. Amyloid beta is a fragment of protein that wasn t broken down and built up and disrupted transmissions between neurons, causing memory loss (Pizzorno, 3 9) As your brain produces insulin diabetes speeds up plaque production in the brain, causing a disruption in the signaling of insulin production, which causes the memory loss. • 17. History And Evaluation Of Total Quality Management CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION 1.1: History and Evaluation of total quality management. Total quality management (TQM) is a management philosophy developed by Deming based on his experiences in US industry before and during the Second World War. The successive implementation of TQM by Japanese industry, but not by the USA, is widely credited for the former s marvelous post‐ war economic modernization and the current massive trade inequity between the two countries. Deming (1986) published a book entitled Out of the Crisis , in which he summarized his ideas and encouraged US industry to implement them as the Japanese had done so successfully. The TQM philosophy has also been promoted by a number of prominent writers, principally Crosby (1979, 1984), Ishikawa (1983, 1985) and Juran (1988, 1989). Although TQM was originally intended for the industrial sector, Deming (1986) pointed out in the preface to his book Out of the Crisis that his management principles could be applied equally well in service industries. The service industries, he emphasized, include government provisions, education and the delivery . In fact, whenever an organization has a series of activities directed towards a clear final result, it has business processes which can be examined and developed by TQM techniques. May 2014 was the 60th anniversary of this court decision, and it is an important time to reflect on the effects that this ruling has had on our country. According to research, black student achievement has greatly improved since the desegregation of schools (Strauss, 2014). Rebellions caused a serious threat to monarchs; and as a result of the War of The Roses and Henry VII s usurpation in 1485, the Tudor Dynasty had effectively been founded on Rebellion so it may be possible to assume that the Tudor Dynasty could be removed by rebellion. The Tudor period can be seen as a time of unrest as each Tudor monarch had at least one rebellion during their reign. • 33. Causes Of Women s Suffrage Women s suffrage took a long time due to many reasons. Some of the reasons are gender roles and society. During that time, a woman s job was to take of the home and children and her role was limited in many ways. Since women s rights and role were so limited, many people did not want women to vote or get involved in politics. In addition, some people felt that women were not educated or biologically men were more capable than women. Therefore, women were not seen as worthy enough to politically participate and vote, so they were denied the right to vote. This ties into society because it was seen socially unacceptable for women to want to vote so the suffragists were seen in a very unflattering and negative light by most of society during the 19th and 20th century. Many political cartoons showed the Suffragettes in a bad light and also warned men that their wives would forgo their roles at home, become controlling and more masculine because they want to get the right to vote. Therefore, these cartoons further reinforced many fears in society that women would abandon their families and husband because they wanted to vote. As a result, most of society did not understand why a woman would want to vote if her role was in the home and they felt that women did not belong in politics. This attitude and view by society is why I think it took such long time for women to get the right to vote. The History And Culture Of English Literature The history and culture of English literature are profound in the literary writings from the beginning of the Periods of Old English, Middle English, Elizabethan, Romantic, and the Modern. All of these periods are named purposely by intellectual, political movements, historical events, and artistic styles that are evident in the literary writings during their respective timeframes. As an example, it is during the Old English Period (Anglo Saxon) where the English language is born. The epic poem Beowulf is for certain the most influential literary work of this period and possess national epic status in England. The poem Beowulf draws on Christianity to change the pre conversion myth by elucidating the many things that cannot be explained by science or the laws of nature, including things characteristic of or relating to ghosts, gods, or things beyond nature, turning into a lesson on faith. Adversely, it is the Middle English period where the influence of Norman language (drawn from the French Romance language), culture and literature take shape. This period starts with the Norman invasion in 1066, where we learn of a woman in the federal aristocracy, marriage viewed as a political act and the introduction of courtly love. Lily was standing at a bus stop wishing she was wearing gloves and a hat. She pulled her coat ever tighter around herself. Her lips were numb, her jaw fighting to chatter. The bus was late and she was meant to be meeting her friend Daisy on it. Daisy, when approached with the idea of travelling via public transport to the unpronounceable French café she desperately wanted to go to, seemed disgusted at the very notion. Lily reminded her that not everyone could rely on their Daddy buying them a new car as soon as they turned seventeen and that it certainly wasn t her fault if it was made unavailable due to an MOT. Lily sat down next to her best friend and felt the usual sensation of jealousy towards Daisy s natural panache and the unmistakable underdressed feeling she got whenever next to her despite being on a bus. The feelings would fade though. They always did. Daisy then leaned in close and spoke in a hushed voice; Did you know it is the ungodly temperature of minus five degrees outside? Lily laughed. The bus started again and they left the bus stop ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Valentine s Day Crisis Summary Liberty University Response: To implement a corporate advertising program at JetBlue would be beneficial in their public relations issues stemming from the customer service snafu they experienced while planes sat on a tarmac. • 44. The Debate Over Time To Reduce The Budget Deficit We have a long story of debt, but it seems no one has been able to make it better. If the debt is increasing over time, the government has a budget deficit. Charles C. Turner, et al, define deficit as spending that exceed revenue (482). In history, basic deficit or debt was usually from over spending from a war and economic issues like a recession or depression. Then the government had a budget deficit almost every year between 1970 and 1997, but tax cut and more spending on defense by President Reagan in 1981 added more growth to the deficit. Also, another cause is from reducing of productivity seem in the GDP and lower tax rate (tax cut) (483). Even when the government had some budget surplus, still, it could not cover the debt. In 2012, the debt grew over $ 16 trillion, (482 483) and has increased more in recent year plus 2.9 percent of budget deficit in 2016 (The 2016 Long Term Budget Outlook, 2). To manage the economic depression, sometime policymakers cut the taxes and increase spending again by putting more money into private sectors (Turner, 483); therefore, government goes further with the budget unbalancing. There are several reasons that lower tax rate will not reduce the budget deficit closer to a balance. First, lower tax rate will lower revenues. Overall tax cuts for a new coming year will bring different amounts of revenue from the previous year if the tax rate falls below a previous percentage. For example, Ramesh Ponnuru said that Mr. Trump s plan will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is a topic that can be broken down into many areas. There are so many more forms and views of validation which will be debated about in this paper. By the end of this paper, there should be an understanding of how validation affects someone psychologically and how the search for validation can be misunderstood when it comes to social media. Validation is such an interesting word isn t it? When most people think of the word validation, they think that it means to validate something or someone. Obviously that is not fully true because you can t use the word in the definition. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Psychologically, you act in a much different way when it comes to validation or its counterpart non recognition. According to The Importance of Validation by Linda Sapadin Ph.D, when in the presence of non recognition people tend to be less self confident and more depressed. On the other hand, when people are exposed to a healthy amount of validation they tend to be happier, brimming with pride and self confidence. Although validation may seem to come just from others, sometimes the most important form of validation is self validation. This is where you validate yourself before others can validate or non validate you. When you self validate first, there is a base amount of self confidence and happiness that comes from yourself. This is beneficial to your psychological wellness because if someone tries to belittle you by non validation then you have a built up wall that can block the bad out. Too much validation can lead to narcissistic ways, but Sapadin says When you recognize your good traits, you are not being narcissistic. When you praise yourself for your accomplishments (provided you don t go overboard), you are not being self centered (Sapadin Ph.D). As well as blocking out some of the bad, self validation can keep others validation from going to your head. Are women empowered, or are they objectified when they express their sexuality? The public image of how women move, speak, sound, look, dance, talk, dress, and act is controlled by corporate networks who present these societal norms to people through many mediums. Dominating how women are portrayed in music videos, men are introducing audiences to certain tropes and ideals women are expected to live up to. This heteronormative, White male fantasy, is unrealistic for women and creates an unhealthy obsession and expectation that females of all sizes and races are supposed to embody. In Women in Popular Music Media Empowered or Exploited? (p.9), Jamie Glantz asks Are women represented as the subjects of their own desires, or do they seem to be preforming as the objects of someone else s? The Soviet Union And The Central Asian Republics Topic 1: Evaluate the extent to which the Soviet Union was successful in transforming the traditional tribal and clan identities in the Central Asian Republics? Introduction Central Asia, also known the middle Asia is the core region of Asian continent, which stretches from the Caspian Sea in the east to China in the West and from the South to the Afghanistan and Russia in the North (Collins, 2002). The Soviet Union was a socialist state in that existed between 1922 and 1991, in Eurasia. The union was a one party federation, the communist party and with its capital in Moscow. Those observers who valued cultural preconditions would have expected a new Asia to be underwritten from Asian values or a theocracy from Islamic values or Leninist legacy to perpetuate something like the Soviet regime. The theorists who did see the modernisation of the economy were also doubtful when it came to the popular government in the region (Vladislav, 2009). The Soviet Central Asia s most important economic indicators saw it as notably higher than Africa and South Asia and still came out nearing the bottom of the post communist world with much of rural economies and less of a middle class (Robert, 2009). The high level of literacy in Central Asia although suggested that democratic beliefs and civil society could emerge. This seemed unlikely to outweigh other legacies, but the preconditions thinking of every stripe anticipated uniformity of regimes and at the same time a uniformly nondemocratic regime all across the post Soviet Central Asia.
