MEDICATION ERROR INCIDENT REPORT
DESCRIPTION OF THE INCIDENT: Nurse was passing medication at a particular room in a
given hospital in the state of California. There were about four patients in the room as was
approved by the regulation. Nurse mistakenly gave medication to the wrong patient, while he was

According to Caroll Brown (2011), medication errors occur in every health care setting, including
the physician s office. It is estimated that there are two hundred and eighteen thounsand, medication
related deaths annually, with a total cost of approximately one hundred and seventy seven million.
Events related to medications are the third leading cause of death in the United States after heart
disease and cancer (Caroll Brown, 2011). The first steps of prescribing and administration are
where error is mostly the highest in hospitals. Medication errors can include the following: wrong
dosage, wrong route, wrong frequency (of rate for IV), wrong medication wrong choice of
medication for condition, wrong time, wrong administration technique, wrong patient missed dose,
known drug interaction, known allergy to drug, wrong reason (Caroll Nakuruma,2011). Ideally, the

The War in Afghanistan
Most people think of the War in Afghanistan as a war that the United States have been fighting over
the last decade. But the truth is that Afghanistan has been a country familiar with war for over the
last 35 years. Afghanistan became an independent nation in 1921 and The United States formally
recognized Afghanistan as a county in 1934.(1) The first war involving the independent country of
Afghanistan was against the Soviet Union when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan in 1979. The war
between the Soviet Union and Afghanistan lasted a little over 10 years and set the conditions for a
future war between Taliban in Afghanistan and the United States. Latter the United States declared
war in Afghanistan after the terrorist attack on the United State on September 11th, 2001. The war
was not against the country, but against the Taliban military and insurgents residing in the country.
This war is still ongoing today, which makes the Afghanistan War the longest war ever fought by
the United States of America. In 1973 Price Mohammed Daud overthrew King Zahir Shah and
claimed himself as the President of Afghanistan. (2) This was the beginning of the problems in
Afghanistan and for its people. A civil war was breaking out in the country and in the Soviet Union
used it as an excuse to invade the country. The Soviet

National Infrastructure Protection Plan For Implementing...
There are certain regulatory agencies that have oversite of the national grid. These agencies
ensure the power companies adhere to the rules and regulations set forth in enacted bills as well
as employ security best practices to limit the risk of intrusion from cyber attacks (Li et al., 2012).
The federal agencies that have the greatest amount of oversite on the power grid are the
Department of Homeland Defense (DHS), The Department of Energy (DOE) and the Federal
Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
Department of Homeland Security
DHS is tasked with creating a national infrastructure protection plan for all critical infrastructure
in the country. The plan is designed to ensure critical infrastructure is safe, secure and reliable
enough to prevent, withstand or neutralize deliberate efforts by terrorist to exploit or destroy the
power grid (Li et al., 2012). The plan also details procedures for strengthening national
preparedness as well as providing timely responses to cyber attacks. The goal of DHS is to ensure
the power grid employs static methods in its operations that allow it to quickly respond and recover
from a catastrophic event (Kuder et al., 2010).
Department of Energy
The DOE was established to organize disjointed regulatory processes and create a national energy
plan (Kuder et al., 2010). One of the main functions of the DOE is to monitor and report on the
security of the smart grid. The primary objective of the reports are to provide data that may be

The Law Of Obligation And The Criminal Law
The English system law has been described as a common law rather than a civil law system. To
begin with, there is a significant difference between the civil and criminal law. On the one hand,
the purpose of the civil law will be to settle disputes between private s parties. On the other hand,
criminal law is the body of law that punish criminal offenses and protect the innocent.
In order to complete our essay, we will first focus on the fact that a link clearly exists between
tort and contract law. The law of tort and contract are part of the law of obligations . They are
indeed similar in nature, but, a sharp distinction can t be denied, while obligations in contract law
are set by the parties themselves, obligations in tort are set by the law. The law of obligation is a
branch of the civil law legal system.
Hence the idea, that similarities and differences can be demonstrate between the law of obligation
and the criminal law.
Firstly, both contract and tort law are both delimited by obligations and usually deal with a duty
that has been breached. Liabilities are part of the civil liability responsibility.
The nature of obligation in a contractual relationship is established by the terms of the contract.
The parties must respect their duties or liabilities arising out of the obligation undertaken by the
contract. A breach of contract is a breach of a legal obligation. In tort law, the nature of the
obligation is not agreed between the parties, but arises by virtue

PERSUASION, INDOCTRINATION, AND INOCULATION 2 There are many dangers that
plague us in today s society. One of the most pressing issues is that of driving under the influence of
alcohol. This is a problem for many reasons. Firstly, driving while intoxicated is illegal. It shows
the rising problem of substance abuse, and most importantly, driving drunk is deadly. According
to Drinkinganddriving.org (2008 2013), 900,000 are arrested each year for DUI/DWI and a full 1/3
of those are repeat offenders . None of us are perfect. We all do things every day that... Show more

If you are convicted of DUI, it may be on your criminal record for your entire life. Offenses also
go on your driving record, which potential employers and insurers can access, ( How Stuff Works
, 1998 2013). If you are driving under the influence of alcohol, the chances of you having a
substance abuse problem are very high. Substance abuse, simply put, is losing control of yourself
to a substance. If you do not have enough self control, or common sense, not to get into a vehicle
when you have any type of foreign substance in your body, then you have a serious problem. Sure,
you may not be waking up at eight in the morning and devouring a bottle of gin, but you are not
only putting yourself in danger, but also others. With the amount of people in the United states that
have problems with alcohol, and the amount of DUI s that are given, the correlation between the
numbers is not at all surprising.
Alcohol is the number one drug problem in America. There are more than 12 million alcoholics
in the U.S. Three fourths of all adults drink alcohol, and 6% of them are alcoholics. Americans
spend $197 million each day on alcohol. In the United States, a person is killed in an alcohol
related car accident every 30 minutes. A 2000 study found nearly 7 million persons age 12 to 20
were binge drinkers. Three fourths of all high school seniors report being drunk at least once.
Adolescents who begin drinking before the age of 15 are four

reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work. Many of us are dreamers; we

3). Airport design has always been an important part of any renovation project or new
construction, yet even more light has been shed on this part of the process as the A380 and
future models will require larger gates, bigger hangers and improved baggage collection and
passenger transport services. Yeaman states that due to the aircraft s high passenger volume...gate
hold rooms may have to double in size, concourses need to be widened and capacity of ticket
processing and customs areas may need to be expanded (2001, p. 4).
Taxiway and apron separations may be one of the biggest challenges large airports are going to
face when analyzing how to accommodate the new large aircraft. Due to the lack of space that
most airports already suffer from to expand, the NLA s wingspan will require even more room

Totalitarianism In The Handmaids Tale
Dystopian texts explore unfavorable future societies of the authors worst fears, a parallel
understanding of an apparent contemporary concept, constructing an unfamiliar perspective that is
conceivable and relatable. The realization that the prospect of a dystopian future is built upon the
contingent impact from the present, a fabrication of actions and inactions from collective
judgments of society. This idea of a contingent impact is reflected to a significant extent in the
dystopian text, Handmaids Tale, written by Margaret Atwood in 1985. The novel entails adventures
from the perspective of protagonist Offred, a handmaid in a fragmented society run by misogynistic
and theocratic totalitarian government. It explores a reality in which a familiar concept of
autonomy, sexual prejudice and oppression in the present is metamorphosed into a domineering
structural pillar in dystopian world. For these reasons, Atwood challenges the reader with an
imaginative creation of the future with a contingent dependence on the present, exemplifying these
matters and intensifying the potential future under the reign of a totalitarian society. The
conspicuous and problematic concern, which identifies the contingent impacts of the present in the
future, is conveyed through diverse notions of autonomy. In modern society, the concept of
freedom and independence is advocated, conversely the ideal of... Show more content on

Jay Z is effectively able to utilize not just one but three different archetypes the gangster, the
businessman/ruler and the reformer in order to build a large following, achieve massive success
in the music industry and become the de facto leader for the black community. Throughout his
extensive career, Jay Z was continuously able to rebrand and mold himself in to different
archetypes. When he first stepped in to the public scene, the rapper established himself as the ex

rappers at the time because the hip hop community and fans alike stressed on the importance of
having street credibility . Generally speaking a gangster is defined as someone who participates in
organized crime and racketeering whether it be drugs, theft, murder etc. Archetype expert Matthew
Sorrento describes the gangster as an assertive, self made man [who] in trying times, went against
the law to make the world his own (9). Although the reasons as to why people chose this criminal
path is sometimes unknown, the most logical reason is that many of these individuals come from
poor and impoverished backgrounds (Sorrento 9). As a result these individuals resort to criminal

Plagiarism Is Not The Right Way
Plagiarism has been around for a long time, nowadays it s easier to tell if someone plagiarizes.
Plagiarism is not the way to go it is not worth the risk and definitely has it consequences. Plagiarism
is an act or instance of using or closely imitating the thoughts of another author without
authorization and passing it as your own (Dictionary.com). Plagiarismis the work of those who are
not willing to put in the time and effort it takes to write original content. Which can be a form of
cheating which is not respectable and not good for the educating process at all. Instead of learning
the material and doing the research and required procedures for the assignment. Those who
plagiarize are cheating themselves in the long run, because they are not really learning the
information required for their class. Educators intend for students to complete the material
provided and trust them to complete their work the right way. I think we can all agree that writing
an essay isn t the most exciting thing to do, it takes a lot of thought and effort. However
completing an essay can be a very rewarding feeling. Knowing you worked hard researching and
taking the time to produce some good quality material can be motivating. Unfortunately those who
choose plagiarism prefer to take an easier route thinking they will not get caught. Taking someone
else s hard work and submitting it as their own is not right. In the end the consequences for
choosing plagiarism is not worth it.

Persons and Others Essay examples
CAITLYN DALY
The essay Persons and Others written by Lorraine Code reviews and responds to specific issues
and details in the novel As We Are Now by May Sarton. As We Are Now is a novel about the
struggles the elderly face when that time comes. The story is told from Miss Caro Spencer s
point of view, beginning when she is brought and left at a mediocre nursing home for the elderly.
She tells about hardships of growing old from the mental, emotional and physical troubles. Caro is
forced to stay at Twin Elms nursing home by her older brother John and his much younger wife
Ginny, this is her only family and she feels some what betrayed by them. Her caretakers at Twin
Elm are awful and treat her horribly as she explains through out the ... Show more content on

The women refer to the people in their care as nothing more than poor things , as if they aren t
people but merely objects; and Code recognizes that by objectifying these old people the caretakers
saying that they are worth nothing. As stated by Code on page 4 Treating a personas little more than
an object, in its cognitive dimension, implies acknowledging no significant differences between
such a person and an ordinary, everyday object , what I get from this is that the women who run
the nursing home and those who objectify any person are completely ignorant. Before you can
judge and objectify, though you really should never objectify people, you need to truly know a
person and understand who they are and where they came from; a treatment that Caro s caretakers
never gave her or any other guest in their nursing home. Code explains through Kantian s
formulation that one must always treat with humanity and that there are different levels of
knowing other people. It takes time to truly know some one and if we just give time to
understand people we could treat them much better and more appropriately. These two women
who run Twin Elms have put themselves in this position and portray themselves as responsible
women who can be trusted with old, senile, and overall vulnerable people. Code believes the best
way to care for these type of old people is sympathetically and compassionately; as we would want
to be treated

The hotel industry is perhaps, one of the oldest commercial endeavours in the world. The first inns
date back to the sixth century be and were the products of the urge to travel, spurred by the
invention of the wheel.
The earliest hotels were managed by husband and wife teams, who provided large halls for
travellers to make their own bed and sleep on the floor. The entire cooking service and recreation
were provided by the husband and wife team and his family.
It was in Europe that the birth of well managed hotel industry took place on the shape of chalets
and small hotels which provided variety of services. They were mainly patronized by the
aristocracy of the day.
The real growth of the modern hotel industry took place in the United State of America in 1794. the
real boom in hotel building came in the early twentieth century. This period also saw the beginning

The Response Of The Sciatic Nerve
The study of the response of the sciatic nerve and the neuromuscular to the Rana pipens was
constructed by the Comparative Animal Physiology lab manual for both the nerve compound
action potential (Lab five) and the neuromuscular junction (Lab six) (Norris, et al.,2016). In order to
analyze the responses of the sciatic nerve and the gastrocnemius of a Rana pipens, one exercise was
selected from Lab five and five exercises were selected from Lab six. Both lab five and Lab six had
a study length of three weeks to be performed. Therefore, the first experiment focused on the nerve
compound action potentials, while the second experiment focus on the neuromuscular junction. In
the first experiment, the only exercise analyzed (Exercise one), was the determination of the
threshold voltage and the relationship between stimulus intensity and compound action
potentials(CAP). On the second experiment, five exercises were analyzed, these experiments
focused on the stimulus intensity and strength of contraction, the effect of stretch on contractile
force, the effect of paired pulses on contraction force(summation), muscletetanus, and muscle and
nerve fatigue. In lab five, exercise one, which focused on the determination of the threshold voltage

Abstinence-Only Curriculum
The controversial topic of whether or not sex education curriculum should teach contraceptive use
or abstinence only is heavily debated. In 2013, the U.S. totaled 273,105 babies born by teenagers,
ages from 15 to 19 ( About Teen Pregnancy ). This raises the question: why is the number of
pregnancies so high? Is the reason for that unsettling high, number because abstinence only is being
taught or contraceptive use is being taught? Students who are taught abstinence only are more
likely to wait to have sex, which results in the lowering of teen pregnancy. The abstinence only

Many think that teaching students about contraceptives will reduce teenagers from having
unplanned pregnancies. Research confirms that education provided by Planned Parenthood, which
teaches contraceptive use, helps increase the use of contraceptives and condoms when students do
become sexually active (Neering). This means that they stress the use of condoms over the idea of
waiting. What happens when condoms or birth control fail? The curriculum of abstinence only
believes that teaching contraceptive use just encourages teenagers to become sexually active
(ProQuest). According to the Center of Disease Control, waiting lowers the risk of unintended
pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases ( Sex Ed Must Stress Value of Abstinence. ). If they
are not in the situation of possibly having sex, then they do not face having an unplanned
pregnancy. Kane 3
Overall, sex education in U.S. schools should remain abstinence only curriculum. Abstinence only
curriculum teaches students to wait to have sex. On the other hand, people believe that
contraceptive use curriculum will teach students to have less unprotected sex. This leaves the
possibility of the contraceptive failing, and having unplanned pregnancy. Abstinence only
curriculum teaches students that waiting is the best option for a good, healthy

The Effects Of High Compliance Rate On Municipal City Of...
Research Design and Methodology
4.1Introduction
The purpose of this study is to find out what are the causes of the high compliance rate in property
taxes in the municipal city of Portmore, Jamaica. Taxes are of essential importance to small
developing countries as they do not have much needed resources. As further developments takes
place in the municipal city property values will increase, hence the amount of property tax collected
by the Portmore municipal council will also increase. This increase however, is not a guarantee that
the tax collection will be sufficient in the maintenance of the community due to the rising cost of
goods and services. Hence continuous voluntary compliance is essential and important as it most
efficient for both the tax payer and the tax authorities.
This section gives the hypothesis or research perspectives, the design of the research and the
methods that were used to gather the data.
4.2 Hypotheses/ Research Perspectives
My research perspective on the Municipal City of Portmore attaining the highest compliance rate
property tax collections in Jamaica are:
That the tax payers have recognised the need and importance of property tax to the community.
The taxpayers are knowledgeable about property tax and the consequences if not paid.
The local authorities are ensuring that the community is well maintained by effectively and
efficiently using the tax collecting in providing services such as timely collection of garbage,

Differences In Ancient Rome
While the Roman plumbing was built with lead and some romans were getting sick, many people
with lead pipes did not get sick due to the constant flow of fresh water in the system. Lead only
leaches into the water when it is sitting for long periods of time. Roman pipes were powered by
gravity, and because gravity never stops, the water continued to flow, bringing in a constant source
of clean water. The water in roman cities would quickly flow through the pipes and eventually just
flow out into a nearby river. Romans quickly made differences throughout the empire making the
Romea trade heavy empire. By the end of the first century A.D. the extensive system of fine paved

When the Aqueducts got the water to the city, it did not just keep on flowing; the water was
split off and controlled via bronze nozzles at home levels. This meant that the water from the
aqueducts would get divided and sent out to houses through an intricate plumbing system, like
the ones built have today. Markets were a key component in the distribution of goods, though
they did not deliver, people would walk around to all sorts of different shops buying and trading
for goods from all across the empire. In cities, many markets were built for the different classes.
The markets for the rich were filled with objects to help with dinner parties. The poor markets
were usually filled with vegetables and necessities. This, at the time was a newer design, which
caused a bigger split between the rich and poor, having a major impact on Roman society. This
ancient targeting technology still affects the public today, with different stores filled with different
objects meant to fit with a certain class of people. Rome was the cradle of inventions that are now
just common day items such as hair pins, combs, and other such amenities that nearly everyone

through the glass blowing technique to create intricate glass works that were bought by the rich.

Influence Of Food On Society
The Influence of Food on Human Society Food is the largest factor in the changes of humanity,
making life what it is today. From the places people live to the ideas and beliefs of the public,
food is responsible for many people s outlook on life. In the book, An Edible History of Humanity
written by Tom Standage, the history of food and how it shaped the world are displayed. Food has
had many political and social influences on society, ultimately changing the world. The political
and social impacts of food are very similar on society when examining the globalization in the
world, caution about planting and eating different foods, and the competition between people, but
food also has many contrasting effects on society such as the freedoms given to people, the
spreading of wealth and power throughout a community, and the population of the world today.
Primarily, the globalization in society can be traced back to food s influence on European
exploration and the cultural connection created during the airlifts into West Germany. Beginning in
the 15th century, countries in Europe had a political race to explore the unknown world. Once
arriving in foreign lands, explorers discovered unique cropsonly located in these areas. The foods
unique to these places sparked interest in countries and encouraged them to send expeditions to
these new locations. As the search for new and different foods spanned the globe, people, beliefs,
and culture from these places were spread

Comedic Relief in the Bleek Novel, Hard Times by Charles...
In every bleak novel there is one character who is always there for comedic relief; in Hard Times,
that character is Mrs. Sparsit. Mrs. Sparsit is the housekeeper for Mr. Bounderby. Essentially
she does all the work that a wife would do except she has a lower status than a wife, but higher
than a servant. Here in lies the problem that she cannot deal with. Mrs. Sparsit came from a well
to do family, but slipped in the social rankings. To regain her pride, she attempts to sabotage Mr.
Bounderby s marriage, but in doing so only makes her a fool. In this passage, a robbery has just
occurred and the townspeople are trying to figure out who the perpetrator is. As of right now,
they believe it is Stephen Blackpool. Shaken by the events, Mrs. Sparsit stays at Mr. Bounderby s
house. The purpose of this passage is to show that it is not Mr. Bounderby who is the fool, but
rather Mrs. Sparsit, who does not seem to understand that her actions against Bounderby do not
have an impact on him at all. What does Mr. Bounderby care about? Certainly not Mrs. Sparsit.
Mr. Bounderby is an egotistical man who only cares about his social status and money. He married
Louisa with the goal in mind to make her his trophy wife and to have connections with Mr.
Gradgrind it has nothing to do with his emotional connection with Louisa. Thus, Mrs. Sparsit s

How Does Shakespeare Present Iago s Character In Othello
Throughout literature, authors manipulate their characters in certain manners to help the audience
discover their identities and their personalities. One way that William Shakespeare presents Iago s
character in Othello is through Iago s sacrifices. Shakespeare communicates Iago s pure craving for
revenge through what Iagois willing to give up and emphasizes just how far Iago s envy will
persuade him to go. Iago is willing to sacrifice all the honor that is and could ever be associated
with his name just for the idea of Othellos downfall. As the play progresses, Iago continues to be
possessed by a wild desire to ruin Othello, and as he continues to act upon this desire, he finds
himself enwrapped in complex and ever changing lies. At the... Show more content on

Despite the fact that Iago is angry with Othello and Cassio, Iago should not be mad enough
about the promotion to lead it to the end of Othello or the murder of Desdemona. While it is
understandable that he would be mad, Iago does not have a reason to be this angry and this
creates a complexity to Iago s character that makes him an interesting villain. The audience can
conclude that Iago simply enjoys the idea of hurting others. He is flattered by how manipulative
and sneaky he is, and often times throughout the play, he will have an aside speech where he tells
the audience just what he has done and what it will lead to. Iago s character is very diverse, yet
simple at the same time. He enjoys the art of evil and seeing others suffer. This contributes a
great deal to the play because once it is evident to the audience that there is not much standing in
the way between Iago and evil, it is understood that he will not stop until he feels that he has got
his revenge. It can also be understood that in order for Iago to feel truly satisfied, there will need
to be pain and harm towards Othello, and perhaps even Cassio. This allows the audience to prepare
and ponder just what Iago might

Federalist 10 Analysis
The question that is dispatched in the Federalist paper # 10 that James Madison has written is
how to protect the country against factions? A faction is a group of people with the same interest
opposed to the rights of the citizens or the interests opposed to the rights of the citizens or the
interest of the whole community. The paper is also written on how a strong republic would protect
better against the dangers then a smaller one for example, an individual state. Madison explains
that in a large republic there will be many different factions, held together by regional or local

Madison believes it is a process or aftereffect of people being born with very different physical

free will by taking away the opinion of every citizen, passions and interests. The first won t work
because we have fought long and hard for freedom. The second is not fascinating nor even
possible. By factions, whether amounting to a largest of a minority of the whole faction. Who

rights of other citizens, or to the durable and collective interests of the community? There are a

others. Madison wants to create a republic. Two ways to remove factions are to destroy liberty so
we can t take it away again that s why destroying liberty won t work. The system does not work
today because people can have better communication around so they can have the same interests
around the country. The point of the Federalist papers was to promote the ratification of the
constitution. Madison believed that factions operate in their own interest and ignore the rights of

In this trend, there are several models to support this view of these investors, including the Modern
Portfolio Theory (MPT), Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) and Arbitrage Pricing Theory
(APT) (Fama and French, 2004; Perold, 2004). They have been the main instruments that the
rational expectation based theories have been deploying. However, this traditional paradigm has
been analyzed by a number of researches that the information should not be considered to have a
very important role in affecting investors (Miles and McCue, 1984), Titman and Warga (1986),
Lusht (1988) and Liu and Mei (1992).
II. The behavioral finance paradigm and its derived explanations of the investors beliefs
This was also the driving dynamic for the behavioral finance paradigm, which has the origin from
the above challenges that the traditional paradigm has had. From its viewpoint, the investments that
are made used to be made irrationality. Besides, this paradigm also made attempts to explore into
the investment market phenomena by proposing the two doctrines that the agents have been failed
to update their beliefs correctly, and that there is the typical deviation from the ordinary process of
making choices of investments of the investors (De Long, Shleifer, Summers and Waldmann, 1990;

Ancient Greece And Ancient Roman Empires Essay
In today s time people always say that everything that seems to be new is just really something
remade from the past. Throughout time and space works of art and literature spread around and
are adapted to what a certain culture needs. This glocalizing means taking the original form and
manipulating it so it can best fit the audience in which is viewing it. Whether it be translating
something from one language to another or even completely changing something that was intended
for adults so it could be easy for children to learn. Similarly, in the transition between the Ancient
Greece and Ancient Roman Empires so many aspects of the Grecian culture is adapted by the
Romans but they glocalize it in order to get more Romans on board with what the Greeks thought
of. Even the Ancient Roman writer and philosopher Seneca glocalized Euripides play Hippolytus.
Despite the five hundred year time difference between Euripides Hippolytus and Seneca s Phaedra,
Seneca makes his best attempt to copy the play but including aspects of the Roman culture he lived
in. The culture gap between Ancient Greece and Rome ultimately affects how the readers perceive
the story and how different the two tales actually are. Between 30 and 40 C.E. Seneca s writing
started becoming increasingly popular throughout the Roman Empire. On the other hand, many
people did not support his philosophical ideas such as stoicism. Seneca s stoic philosophy is
defined as a philosophy that flourished in ancient

How Wireless Communication Has Improved The Point Of Being...
Wireless communication is the transfer of data between two or more points that are not connected
by an electrical conductor. In addition, wireless communications networks are less expensive to
install and preserve than equivalent wired systems. Wireless communication has become possible
due to the discovery of radio waves. With the first breakthrough of the radio signal within the 19th
century, along with founders Nikola Tesla and Guglielmo Marconi, evolution of the wireless
technology has improved to the point of being unrecognizable (Makkai ,2006, p.1). According to
Rappaport (2002 ,p.1) , with the Guglielmo Marconi s invention of the long distance
communication with ships at sea, has the power of instant communication emerged. Nowadays,
many people use the internet service on a cellphone to keep the contact with people around the
world, and for other purposes such as: researching, learning and exploring (Makkai ,2006, p.1).
In this essay, the following definitions will be used. Communication in this essay refers to a
technology that allows sending and receiving data such as: SMS, voice and images (Lee,
Schneider and Schell,2004, p.15). A mobile app is a software application developed specifically for
use on small, wireless computing devices, such as smartphones and tablets, rather than desktop or
laptop computers. Ram (Random Access Memory) arranges communication through messages to a
customer while they are in the city territory (Rappaport, 2002, p.508).

In all the three processes of basic operation, communication should be initiated by the master.
Moreover, only one slave node can join the network at a time.
2) BodyMAC
Fang and Dutkiewicz in [28] propose energy efficient TDMA based MAC protocol for WBAN. In
this protocol, packet collision, idle listening and control packet overhead have been reduced by
allocating three bandwidth management schemes: Burst Bandwidth, Periodic Bandwidth and
Adjust Bandwidth in order to improve energy efficiency. An efficient sleep node is introduced to
turn off a node s radio, especially for the nodes supporting low duty cycle applications.
The MAC frame in BodyMAC protocol has three parts:
Beacon, downlink and uplink sub frames.
The beacon serves the purpose MAC layer synchronization. The downlink frame is used for
transmission from gateway to node, which can accommodate on demand traffic. The uplink frame
consists of two sub parts: Contention Access Part (CAP) and Contention Free Part

The Departure Of The Ship Headed South
Following the departure, the ship headed south. She passed Lisbon on the 15th and had passed
through the Suez Canal by the end of the month. Australian waters were reached by the end of
July and passen gers unloaded in Townsville from the 1st to the 3rd of August, in Rock hampton

She was then going down very fast aft, and had all the appearance as if she would sink in a few
minutes. I then ordered the boats to be lowered, and directed the en gineers and firemen to come
up form below. All the orders were obeyed as quickly as possible, and the whole of the officers,
engi neers, sailors, and firemen behaved admirably in carrying out my in structions, and no one
left his station until he was directed to do so. Before leaving the engine room the engineer eased
the safety valves and closed the tunnel doors, and to this cause I attribute the fact that the ship
was so long going down. We were all in the boats and clear of the doomed ship at a quarter to 9 o
clock and exactly 20 minutes after we struck. Neither myself nor anyone else saved any of our ef

consider it safe to go back on board. Some of the crew and officers volunteered to do so, but I
advised them not, as I wished to make sure of saving all the people, whatever else was lost. At

The War Of Afghanistan And Afghanistan The War in Afghanistan Joseph Kemna HIST 102 American History since 1877 American Military University Dr. Lilia Anand 25 January, 2015 The War in Afghanistan Most people think of the War in Afghanistan as a war that the United States have been fighting over the last decade. But the truth is that Afghanistan has been a country familiar with war for over the last 35 years. Afghanistan became an independent nation in 1921 and The United States formally recognized Afghanistan as a county in 1934.(1) The first war involving the independent country of Afghanistan was against the Soviet Union when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan in 1979. The war between the Soviet Union and Afghanistan lasted a little over 10 years and set the conditions for a future war between Taliban in Afghanistan and the United States. Latter the United States declared war in Afghanistan after the terrorist attack on the United State on September 11th, 2001. The war was not against the country, but against the Taliban military and insurgents residing in the country. This war is still ongoing today, which makes the Afghanistan War the longest war ever fought by the United States of America. In 1973 Price Mohammed Daud overthrew King Zahir Shah and claimed himself as the President of Afghanistan. (2) This was the beginning of the problems in Afghanistan and for its people. A civil war was breaking out in the country and in the Soviet Union used it as an excuse to invade the country. The Soviet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These agencies ensure the power companies adhere to the rules and regulations set forth in enacted bills as well as employ security best practices to limit the risk of intrusion from cyber attacks (Li et al., 2012). The federal agencies that have the greatest amount of oversite on the power grid are the Department of Homeland Defense (DHS), The Department of Energy (DOE) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Department of Homeland Security DHS is tasked with creating a national infrastructure protection plan for all critical infrastructure in the country. The plan is designed to ensure critical infrastructure is safe, secure and reliable enough to prevent, withstand or neutralize deliberate efforts by terrorist to exploit or destroy the power grid (Li et al., 2012). The plan also details procedures for strengthening national preparedness as well as providing timely responses to cyber attacks. The goal of DHS is to ensure the power grid employs static methods in its operations that allow it to quickly respond and recover from a catastrophic event (Kuder et al., 2010). Department of Energy The DOE was established to organize disjointed regulatory processes and create a national energy plan (Kuder et al., 2010). One of the main functions of the DOE is to monitor and report on the security of the smart grid. The primary objective of the reports are to provide data that may be ... • 5. The Law Of Obligation And The Criminal Law The English system law has been described as a common law rather than a civil law system. To begin with, there is a significant difference between the civil and criminal law. On the one hand, the purpose of the civil law will be to settle disputes between private s parties. On the other hand, criminal law is the body of law that punish criminal offenses and protect the innocent. In order to complete our essay, we will first focus on the fact that a link clearly exists between tort and contract law. The law of tort and contract are part of the law of obligations . They are indeed similar in nature, but, a sharp distinction can t be denied, while obligations in contract law are set by the parties themselves, obligations in tort are set by the law. The law of obligation is a branch of the civil law legal system. Hence the idea, that similarities and differences can be demonstrate between the law of obligation and the criminal law. Firstly, both contract and tort law are both delimited by obligations and usually deal with a duty that has been breached. Liabilities are part of the civil liability responsibility. The nature of obligation in a contractual relationship is established by the terms of the contract. The parties must respect their duties or liabilities arising out of the obligation undertaken by the contract. A breach of contract is a breach of a legal obligation. In tort law, the nature of the obligation is not agreed between the parties, but arises by virtue ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Martinez PSY 285 Instructor: Chris Shreve PERSUASION, INDOCTRINATION, AND INOCULATION 2 There are many dangers that plague us in today s society. One of the most pressing issues is that of driving under the influence of alcohol. This is a problem for many reasons. Firstly, driving while intoxicated is illegal. It shows the rising problem of substance abuse, and most importantly, driving drunk is deadly. According to Drinkinganddriving.org (2008 2013), 900,000 are arrested each year for DUI/DWI and a full 1/3 of those are repeat offenders . None of us are perfect. We all do things every day that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you are convicted of DUI, it may be on your criminal record for your entire life. Offenses also go on your driving record, which potential employers and insurers can access, ( How Stuff Works , 1998 2013). If you are driving under the influence of alcohol, the chances of you having a substance abuse problem are very high. Substance abuse, simply put, is losing control of yourself to a substance. If you do not have enough self control, or common sense, not to get into a vehicle when you have any type of foreign substance in your body, then you have a serious problem. Sure, you may not be waking up at eight in the morning and devouring a bottle of gin, but you are not only putting yourself in danger, but also others. With the amount of people in the United states that have problems with alcohol, and the amount of DUI s that are given, the correlation between the numbers is not at all surprising. Alcohol is the number one drug problem in America. There are more than 12 million alcoholics in the U.S. Three fourths of all adults drink alcohol, and 6% of them are alcoholics. Americans spend $197 million each day on alcohol. In the United States, a person is killed in an alcohol related car accident every 30 minutes. Totalitarianism In The Handmaids Tale Dystopian texts explore unfavorable future societies of the authors worst fears, a parallel understanding of an apparent contemporary concept, constructing an unfamiliar perspective that is conceivable and relatable. The realization that the prospect of a dystopian future is built upon the contingent impact from the present, a fabrication of actions and inactions from collective judgments of society. This idea of a contingent impact is reflected to a significant extent in the dystopian text, Handmaids Tale, written by Margaret Atwood in 1985. The novel entails adventures from the perspective of protagonist Offred, a handmaid in a fragmented society run by misogynistic and theocratic totalitarian government. It explores a reality in which a familiar concept of autonomy, sexual prejudice and oppression in the present is metamorphosed into a domineering structural pillar in dystopian world. For these reasons, Atwood challenges the reader with an imaginative creation of the future with a contingent dependence on the present, exemplifying these matters and intensifying the potential future under the reign of a totalitarian society. The conspicuous and problematic concern, which identifies the contingent impacts of the present in the future, is conveyed through diverse notions of autonomy. Research Design and Methodology 4.1Introduction The purpose of this study is to find out what are the causes of the high compliance rate in property taxes in the municipal city of Portmore, Jamaica. Taxes are of essential importance to small developing countries as they do not have much needed resources. As further developments takes place in the municipal city property values will increase, hence the amount of property tax collected by the Portmore municipal council will also increase. The political and social impacts of food are very similar on society when examining the globalization in the world, caution about planting and eating different foods, and the competition between people, but food also has many contrasting effects on society such as the freedoms given to people, the spreading of wealth and power throughout a community, and the population of the world today. Primarily, the globalization in society can be traced back to food s influence on European exploration and the cultural connection created during the airlifts into West Germany. Beginning in the 15th century, countries in Europe had a political race to explore the unknown world. Once arriving in foreign lands, explorers discovered unique cropsonly located in these areas. The foods unique to these places sparked interest in countries and encouraged them to send expeditions to these new locations. As the search for new and different foods spanned the globe, people, beliefs, and culture from these places were spread ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Comedic Relief in the Bleek Novel, Hard Times by Charles... In every bleak novel there is one character who is always there for comedic relief; in Hard Times, that character is Mrs. Sparsit. Mrs. Sparsit is the housekeeper for Mr. Bounderby. Essentially she does all the work that a wife would do except she has a lower status than a wife, but higher than a servant. Here in lies the problem that she cannot deal with. Mrs. Sparsit came from a well to do family, but slipped in the social rankings. To regain her pride, she attempts to sabotage Mr. Bounderby s marriage, but in doing so only makes her a fool. In this passage, a robbery has just occurred and the townspeople are trying to figure out who the perpetrator is. As of right now, they believe it is Stephen Blackpool. Shaken by the events, Mrs. Sparsit stays at Mr. Bounderby s house. The purpose of this passage is to show that it is not Mr. Bounderby who is the fool, but rather Mrs. Sparsit, who does not seem to understand that her actions against Bounderby do not have an impact on him at all. What does Mr. Bounderby care about? Certainly not Mrs. Sparsit. Mr. Bounderby is an egotistical man who only cares about his social status and money. He married Louisa with the goal in mind to make her his trophy wife and to have connections with Mr. Gradgrind it has nothing to do with his emotional connection with Louisa. Thus, Mrs. Sparsit s determination to pity Mr. Bounderby is completely futile. Mrs. Sparsit continues to attempt to please Mr. Bounderby ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. How Does Shakespeare Present Iago s Character In Othello Throughout literature, authors manipulate their characters in certain manners to help the audience discover their identities and their personalities. One way that William Shakespeare presents Iago s character in Othello is through Iago s sacrifices. Shakespeare communicates Iago s pure craving for revenge through what Iagois willing to give up and emphasizes just how far Iago s envy will persuade him to go. Iago is willing to sacrifice all the honor that is and could ever be associated with his name just for the idea of Othellos downfall. As the play progresses, Iago continues to be possessed by a wild desire to ruin Othello, and as he continues to act upon this desire, he finds himself enwrapped in complex and ever changing lies. At the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite the fact that Iago is angry with Othello and Cassio, Iago should not be mad enough about the promotion to lead it to the end of Othello or the murder of Desdemona. While it is understandable that he would be mad, Iago does not have a reason to be this angry and this creates a complexity to Iago s character that makes him an interesting villain. The audience can conclude that Iago simply enjoys the idea of hurting others. He is flattered by how manipulative and sneaky he is, and often times throughout the play, he will have an aside speech where he tells the audience just what he has done and what it will lead to. Iago s character is very diverse, yet simple at the same time. He enjoys the art of evil and seeing others suffer. This contributes a great deal to the play because once it is evident to the audience that there is not much standing in the way between Iago and evil, it is understood that he will not stop until he feels that he has got his revenge. It can also be understood that in order for Iago to feel truly satisfied, there will need to be pain and harm towards Othello, and perhaps even Cassio. This allows the audience to prepare and ponder just what Iago might ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A faction is a group of people with the same interest opposed to the rights of the citizens or the interests opposed to the rights of the citizens or the interest of the whole community. The paper is also written on how a strong republic would protect better against the dangers then a smaller one for example, an individual state. Madison explains that in a large republic there will be many different factions, held together by regional or local interests that none of them will dominate national politics, it is important to devise a plan of governmentthat can control the instability, injustice, and confusion... In order try to remove the causes of faction are only two options: destroy free will by taking away the opinion of every citizen, passions and interests. Who are untied and actuated by some common impulse of passion or of interest, opposing of the rights of other citizens, or to the durable and collective interests of the community? There are a few things bad about faction one of those things are they will try to get they want even if it hurts others. Madison wants to create a republic. Two ways to remove factions are to destroy liberty so we can t take it away again that s why destroying liberty won t work. The system does not work today because people can have better communication around so they can have the same interests around the country. The point of the Federalist papers was to promote the ratification of the constitution. They have been the main instruments that the rational expectation based theories have been deploying. • 38. Ancient Greece And Ancient Roman Empires Essay In today s time people always say that everything that seems to be new is just really something remade from the past. Throughout time and space works of art and literature spread around and are adapted to what a certain culture needs. This glocalizing means taking the original form and manipulating it so it can best fit the audience in which is viewing it. Whether it be translating something from one language to another or even completely changing something that was intended for adults so it could be easy for children to learn. Similarly, in the transition between the Ancient Greece and Ancient Roman Empires so many aspects of the Grecian culture is adapted by the Romans but they glocalize it in order to get more Romans on board with what the Greeks thought of. Even the Ancient Roman writer and philosopher Seneca glocalized Euripides play Hippolytus. Despite the five hundred year time difference between Euripides Hippolytus and Seneca s Phaedra, Seneca makes his best attempt to copy the play but including aspects of the Roman culture he lived in. The culture gap between Ancient Greece and Rome ultimately affects how the readers perceive the story and how different the two tales actually are. Between 30 and 40 C.E. Seneca s writing started becoming increasingly popular throughout the Roman Empire. On the other hand, many people did not support his philosophical ideas such as stoicism. • 40. How Wireless Communication Has Improved The Point Of Being... Wireless communication is the transfer of data between two or more points that are not connected by an electrical conductor. In addition, wireless communications networks are less expensive to install and preserve than equivalent wired systems. Wireless communication has become possible due to the discovery of radio waves. With the first breakthrough of the radio signal within the 19th century, along with founders Nikola Tesla and Guglielmo Marconi, evolution of the wireless technology has improved to the point of being unrecognizable (Makkai ,2006, p.1). According to Rappaport (2002 ,p.1) , with the Guglielmo Marconi s invention of the long distance communication with ships at sea, has the power of instant communication emerged. Nowadays, many people use the internet service on a cellphone to keep the contact with people around the world, and for other purposes such as: researching, learning and exploring (Makkai ,2006, p.1). In this essay, the following definitions will be used. Communication in this essay refers to a technology that allows sending and receiving data such as: SMS, voice and images (Lee, Schneider and Schell,2004, p.15). A mobile app is a software application developed specifically for use on small, wireless computing devices, such as smartphones and tablets, rather than desktop or laptop computers. Ram (Random Access Memory) arranges communication through messages to a customer while they are in the city territory (Rappaport, 2002, p.508). An ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Energy Efficient Medium... 1 ) Energy Efficient Medium Access Protocol A medium access control layer is the most suitable level to address the energy efficiency. This layer is used to coordinate node access to the shared wireless medium. The MAC is the core of communication protocol stack which provides the basic for achieving Quality of Service (QoS) in any wireless networks. A versatile MAC should support diverse applications and different types of data such as continuous, periodic, burst and non periodic data along with high level QoS. MAC plays a major determining factor in improving overall network performance. The fundamental task in MAC protocol is to avoid collisions and to prevent simultaneous transmissions while preserving maximum throughput, minimum latency, communication reliability and maximum energy efficiency. In this protocol, packet collision, idle listening and control packet overhead have been reduced by allocating three bandwidth management schemes: Burst Bandwidth, Periodic Bandwidth and Adjust Bandwidth in order to improve energy efficiency. An efficient sleep node is introduced to turn off a node s radio, especially for the nodes supporting low duty cycle applications. The MAC frame in BodyMAC protocol has three parts: Beacon, downlink and uplink sub frames. The beacon serves the purpose MAC layer synchronization. The downlink frame is used for transmission from gateway to node, which can accommodate on demand traffic.
