sake of building a foundation that can carry students through to graduation, I focus
on how I can determine why I believe the classroom environment is critical to me.

engage with students. The flexibility an ALC environment provides for both faculty
and students connects back to the theoretical framework of student centered learning
and discovery learning theories. My goal in using qualitative inquiry is to determine
a better understanding of the successes and challenges in using an ALC because
converting classrooms to more modern environments is costly and not many schools
have the funding for it (Walker, Brooks, Baepler, 2011). If we can publish more

Unlike the consulting detective of the Golden Age who is more focussed on the
mystery that crime brings, Morse cares about bringing the murderer to justice. And
unlike the incompetent police detective whose incompetence is the reason an
amateur is consulted, Morse is actually competent and efficient in his job. The
multiple chapters and insights employed by Dexter in the novel allow the reader
to escape the tedious police procedure and dive more into the politics at play which
is directly related to the people involved in the case. But the reader is also
informed of Morse s digressions and progress. He tails his suspects, pursues
women, falls off ladders, gets drunk, his car is broken and he gets it repaired;
Morse may not be characterised as friendly but he is human and Dexter makes sure
that the reader catches this as the story progresses. He is unlike the eccentric and
almost superhuman detective of the earlier version of the genre who seldom makes
mistakes and basks on that superhuman quality and knack for detection and lack of
humanly errors. But among all of Morse s humanly qualities and behaviour, there
also lies a brilliant mind not unlike the Golden Age detective. Christopher Bird says

54. The 400 Blows By Francois Truffaut
The 400 Blows is a great film. It is a testimony to Francois Truffaut s greatness.
This is a film about a young French boy that has a troubled childhood. He was a
rebel of sorts. He got in some trouble in the classroom and out of the classroom. He
wasn t necessarily more troublesome than any other kid during that time. I think he
is misunderstood and put in difficult situations. This French Film Noir had music,
scenery, and a unique freeze frame that made this film great. Music added to this
film. French music and classical music was played in the background. At no time
was there any lyrics to the songs being played. I think this was advantageous as the
camera angles captured the emotion of Antoine and other characters. Also the
scene itself often in Paris was full of hustle and bustle. It s a big city so the city
sounds where heard. Thus music with lyrics were not needed. I think the final
scene is a great scene. This scene is of Antoine running away for the last time
going to the ocean. Quiet and unique percussion music was being played as he was
running towards the ocean. Scenery itself was set for the most part in Paris France.
This was a city that was full of business day and night. The streets were crowded
with pedestrians and cars were seen zooming by. This reflected how a boy such as
Antoine could be forgotten and entangled with skipping school and other poor
choices. The scene where Antoine is skipping school with his other school buddy
indicates how he really was

ENGL 501: Great Works of Ancient Literature (Fall 2016)
Through this course I developed a deeper comprehension of ancient literature. I
studied the works of Homer (The Iliad) and Plato (Republic) as well as Greek lyric
poetry (Archilochus and Sappho). My personal takeaways included a more contextual
understanding of how the ancient Greeks conceived of literature, viewing it as a
means of historical preservation as well as a tool to build psychological and
philosophical understanding. Moreover, I came to recognize the more practical or
utilitarian purpose of literature that Ancient societies employed. Likewise, I benefited
from the acquaintance with new argumentative material to share with my secondary
students. The background knowledge of Homer and Plato have provided a
springboard for me to build stronger discursive discussions in my own classroom.
ENGL 525: Studies in the Short Story (Fall 2016)
A deeper conception of what constitutes a short story is what I anticipated when
signing up for this course. Yet, while I did gain knowledge of the components of a
short story, I also took away a wealth of insight on how to take apart, discuss, and
synthesize new ideas from reading short stories. The short story is the medium that
most of high school and undergraduate students begin to read what is considered
literature. Therefore, I found this course to be a vital asset to both my professional

Many of the arguments that are opposed to medical marijuana consist of ill advised
comments that have not been properly researched. One objection is that
tetrahydrocannabinol, a chemical found in marijuana, is the chemical that makes
people high . It is true that this chemical has some unwanted side effects, however,
cannabidiol does not (Abuse). With the research people have done, cannabidiol is
even known to do more than tetrahydrocannabinol can. Another concern that has been
brought to light is that certain patients undergoing medical marijuana treatments
could have dealt with an addiction problem in the past and therefore take advantage
of the medication given to them. To counter this argument, most of the hospitals in
the states that have approved medical marijuana as a reliable treatment, issue patient
