exceeded my expectations and taught me a lot more important information than I
thought it would. Intro to Women s Studies expanded my knowledge on women s
issues and made me confident in my decision to identify as a feminist. Some things
that I was not expecting to learn about coming into this course were other mass
movements and minority groups. Reading Hoffer s The True Believerreally expanded
my knowledge on the complexities of mass movements. At first I did not see how
topics like LGBT rights and religion related to feminism, but after reading The True
Believer I realized that that many mass movements are related to each other and have

For the poem Aunt Jennifer s Tigers by Adrienne Rich, I choose the feminist
approach for several reasons. The first reason is that the poem shows how many
women were prevented of achieving more than just a good wife (which is not bad
if the woman wants so). For example, the speaker says, The massive weight of
Uncle s wedding band/ Sits heavily upon Aunt Jennifer s hand (7 8). This show how
she is restrained in this marriagewhich is a load in her life. The next reason is the
marriage is not how it appears to be on many circumstance. For instance, the speaker
notes, When Aunt is dead, her terrified hands will lie (9). The idea of beautiful hands
is a sign that a man or womandoes need to work under extreme conditions, and thus,
that person has a good life; however, the lie is that that person does not have that

nevertheless, this line implies that something was not good in Jennifer s life, and

8). A wedding band is not heavy per se, but this line implies that she felt trapped on
a promise that she could not escape from and a very destructive environment.

The relation of the title of the play Trifles to the play is subtle but present.
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the word trifle means something of

In the poem, Thou Blind Man s Mark, the speaker, Sir Philip Sidney, conveys his
complex attitude toward desire by using irony, rhyme scheme and metaphors in his

Owl Moon written by Jane Yolen and illustrated by John Schoenherr, takes the
reader for a winter walk through the woods on a moonlit night. Father and son

It is a story of patience, perseverance, but most of all hope. When you go owling

Pink Floyd, an English psychedelic rock band founded in 1965, was originally made
up of construction students Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, Nick Mason, and Richard
Wright. They originally started performing in London s underground scene in the late
60s, and under Syd Barrett s creative leadership they released two charting singles
and a successful debut album.
In December 1967, the group added David Gilmour as the band s fifth member
following the mental breakdown of Syd Barrett during their support of Jimi Hendrix
during a tour of England. Eventually, Syd Barrett was moved to a nonperforming
role, only writing songs and nothing else. This stopped when a mixture of Syd s
unpredictable behavior at the time and idiosyncratic sense of humor occurred and

As people began to realize the damage done by the pollution of the environment
nearly fifty years had passed. By this time the contaminated tailings and toxins
released from the smelters and chemical treatment facilities had reached an
outrageous numbers. With the help of the great flood of 1908 these pollutants
covered the Silver Bow creek banks from Butte all the way to the Milltown Dam. In
1911 the Anaconda Company began extensive cleanup efforts by implementing the
use of warm springs ponds as a water treatment facility (Citizens Technical
Environmental Committee, 4). These ponds were developed initially with the
thought that they would be able to catch polluted tailings before they were able to
reach the Clark Fork River. There was an estimated 2,400 acres of warm springs
ponds built between the years of 1911 and 1959 (Citizens Technical Environmental

a dam so that the metals did not end up in the Clark Fork River. The tailings are then
covered over with lime to prevent them from leeching back into the environment. This
