A great deal of Indian writing in English is in the form of novel. In the course of an
eventful history, Indian novel in English demonstrated the capacity and resilience for
innovations and attained the status of Universal Form. The post independence India
has witnessed a Sea change of Indian fiction in English. The form of Indian novel in

Mantagini, it should be said, is bold creation. She takes upon herself the most
hazardous and perilous midnight adventure to save Madhav, her sister s husband,
unleashing to him of the nefarious plot of robbery in which her own husband
Rajmohan is involved. The girl who is so soft, timid, and gentle, turns heroic all of a
sudden, but without the least touch of unnaturalness.
Her character typifies the rise of individualism and the liberation of the Indian
women from the yoke of age old submissiveness and self annihilation. In this
character we find an early statement about the helplessness and claustrophobia of
women in incompatible marriages that was going to be a recurrent concern of
Indian fiction for many years to come. Mantagini was only a forerunner of many
more women characters of great, independent and revolutionary spirit to follow in
the novels of his successors. The creation of a character like Mantagini in the first
Indian Novel in English was certainly a good beginning for that class of writing to
be followed in India. 3. PLOT He prefers to dramatise instead of just explaining the

Grief and Bereavement
CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4
Crisis involved with loss of other human being is the intensive of all types of crises.
This paper I will be talking mainly about grief through people loss, as it is something,
which happens suddenly, and which can also lead into intense grief. In this paper I
want to also talk about how we as a Christian and especially as a pastor will be able
to cope with or help a person that is undergoing this grief situation. This is because
many of the times when we see someone undergoing this kind of crisis of grief, we
tend to ignore it or we try to take over the grief to ourselves. Worst of all this when
we try to convince ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This kind of grieve is the one which has to be looked most into. As this has greater
danger of affecting the individual physically and emotionally. The symptoms of this
kind of grief are as follows:
a. There is an inability to express emotions as in the normal grief. This causes to
have still extreme feelings for the loss and those affected by it.
b. In addition to the symptoms of the normal grief, these kinds of individuals tend to
show more pathological symptoms like: intense depression, anger and loneliness.
When these kinds of people are not properly attended, they tend top have a number of
other physical and mental problems, like asthma, heart problems, suicidal thoughts
and attempts, and other illnesses.
c. In morbid grief, the person suffering has a serious struggle with his faith in God,
often resulting in not attending the church anymore. Most of them change to
becoming sinners; they find fascinations in cult practices to get in contact with the
dead ones, etc.

7. Voting Rights
In the early years of the United States, voting rights were vastly different from how
they are now. The original Constitution of the United States was signed on September
17, 1787 (National Constitution Center). Article Two, Section Three of the
Constitution permitted the states to implement their own voter requirements
(Tannahill). As a result, most of the states granted voting rights to only white males
who owned property. Any other type of person did not have the right, including
women. One hundred and thirty three years later, on August 18, 1920, the Nineteenth
Amendment was ratified. The Nineteenth Amendment prevented the states and the
federal government from rejecting voting rights to citizens based on their sex (19th
Amendment). The ratification greatly impacted American voting rights; however,
African Americans still struggled with voting rights. The Fifteenth Amendment
granted suffrage to African American males (15th Amendment to the U.S.
Constitution: Voting Rights (1870)). Although it was ratified on February 3, 1870,
many things were implemented to create difficulty for them to vote. Two of those
things were literacy tests and a test of understanding. A literacy test was a test that
verified that the citizen could read and write prior to registering to vote (Tannahill). A
test of understanding measured the citizen s understanding of the United Statesor state
Constitution prior to registering to vote. At first thought, these requirements
conveyed legitimacy;

In order to gain more deep understanding and knowledge about BigChange s
operation and future plan, the researcher conducted an in depth interview with the
founder of the company who is also the current CEO. Hence, this part of the chapter
4 will display five main topics of the research collected from the interview as well as
providing some direct quotes of the CEO.
4.4.1.Company Overview
It is essential for the researcher to gain insights into the operation and development of
BigChange. The CEO responded with meticulous answers about current situation and
growth strategies. To illustrate, the CEO believes his company is in the early phase
of growth. Though they have just offered their services and products for 2 years, their
performances in the market are remarkable with the annual revenue of ₤2 million.
Moreover, he estimates the market share that the company has gained after two years
working is from 0.5% to 1% and he confirms that the UK telematics is one of the
biggest markets in Europe. Thus it seems to take BigChange more time and efforts to
achieve its ambition as a market leader.
When asking about the current strategy of BigChange, the CEO demonstrated that
they are providing services and products to specified industries in the UK by creating
different industry sites. Then they introduce sites and services to a customer coming
from those industries, it will be timesaving and easy to offer and customise the sites.
Furthermore, he illustrated that services can be a

The Courtroom Work Group
Courtroom is essential in the administration of criminal justice through court
proceedings. The purpose thereof is to settle conflicts or controversies involving
violation of rights between two parties. However, a courtroom work group
deviates from its ordinary sense. The latter develops deviant process especially
adapted for a criminal proceedings and is performed collectively. It is a system of
collective participation of people with specialized functions. It is best described as
an organization of judges, prosecutors and defense attorneys. As such, informal
collaboration of between those aforementioned people may exist in order for a
speedy decision of the case. For the purposes of this paper, interaction of courtroom
work group on a daily basis and its recommended changes will be discussed. As well
as the role of a prosecutor, determination of cases to pursue, criteria of taking cases,
determination of sentences, forms of punishment, effects of the criminal justice
funnel and the backlog of cases on the court system and the courtroom work group
and lastly, possible solutions to help eliminate funnel and backlog of cases will be
further discussed.

Ethical issues on Reproductive technology Ethics is the matter of the heart and
when we discuss the heart we will all ways have conflict. Just for the simple fact
that ethics in dealing with assisted reproductive technology is like a domino effect,
when you answer one question another one arises. When we bring up the law in the
United States about marital status and assisted reproductive technology (ART) you
must be in a stable relationship, but what I found interesting is they have yet to

possibility that it was used, there is no grey area. Who qualifies; infertile couples,

Imperialism is a policy of growing a powerful country by extending its rule over
foreign, weaker countries, often to gain influence in that country s politics and

country. During the Age of Imperialism , there were two different eras: Old

13. Taking a Look at the Blackfoot Tribe
I chose to write my research paper on the Blackfoot reservation which is home to the
Blackfoot tribe. The Blackfoot tribe was sometimes known as the classic example of
the Plains Indians. The Blackfoot reservation actually consists of four different tribes
and those are the Blackfoot/Siksika, Blood/Kainai, Pikuni/Peigan, and North Peigan
Pikuni tribes. The BlackfootIndians initially migrated from the Great Lakes region
and now live in Montanaand some of Canada.
There is a lot of history behind the Blackfoot tribe that I am sure a lot of people are
unaware of. The Blackfoot tribe first learned about and got their first horses and riles
in 1700, also during that time they traveled along the Rocky Mountains. In 1851 there
was a treaty that was called the Fort Laramie Treaty of 1851. The Blackfoot tribe
was not one of the tribes that attended the negotiation of this treaty, but it still greatly
affected their tribe. Article 5 of the Treaty defined the territory of this tribe and used
the Musselshell, Missouri, Yellowstone Rivers, and the Rocky Mountain Range as
markers of this territory. In 1873 and 1874, President Grant made Executive Orders
shrinking reservation lands. The 1873 Order diminished the 1851 and 1855 treaty
lands and created an entire reservation for the Blackfoot, Gros Ventre, Assiniboine,
and Sioux. This territory went from north of the Missouri and Sun River east to the
Dakota border. The 1874 Executive Order moved the southern boundary north from
the Sun
14. Spinal Cord Essay
The spinal cord in partnership with the brain sends information around the body by
electrical signals. It informs the body exactly what it is the brain requires, the brain
then interprets what the body is feeling. The spinal cord in conjunction with the brain
makes up the CNS. A cylinder of nerve tissue which resembles a thick cream coloured
rope about the thickness of the little finger with a length of approximately 38/45
centimetres stretches these distance to where it joins the medulla oblongata situated
at the base of the brainand runs down the spinal cordto the level of the first lumbar
vertebra, here it terminates into a bunch of nerves known as the cauda equina,
known by this name due to its appearance of a horse tail. Here it... Show more content

The thickness of the spinal cord varies in thickness depending on the area of the
vertebral column and parts of the body supplied. It swells out in both the areas of
the cervical and lumber regions, where at these points it supports the large nerve
supply to the limbs. Known as the cervical and lumbar enlargements. The cord
itself consist of a deep cleft both at the back and the front, here it is almost
completely divided into a right and left side like that of the cerebrum. If you were
to view a section of the spinal cord which had been cut cross sectionally you would
be able to see a butterfly shaped region, which would appear grey in colour and
surrounded by white matter. Found on the outside of the cord, the white matter
consist of bundles of nerve fibres called axons. The axons extend the length of the
spinal cord supporting communication of the CNS. Each bundle of nerve fibres are
responsible for specific types of information they can transmit ascending signals
towards the brain and descending signals from the brain to neurons in various
muscles and glands throughout the body. Found inside the spinal cord is the grey
matter, this is the butterfly shaped region containing four projectile shapes known as
horns, the two which project forwards are known as the anterior horns(ventral) and
the two facing backwards are referred to as the(dorsal)
15. The Production Possibilities Frontier
1. A reduction in trade barriers has two effects on the economy. The production
possibilities frontier will move outward, and the economy will move closer to the
production possibilities frontier. Both outcomes are related. Freer trade creates more
markets for the country for its goods and services. This allows companies to produce
more, but it does not directly change the production capacity of the nation. Thus, the
economy moves closer to the production possibilities frontier (Rittenberg Tregarthen,
2009). The reason that the production possibilities frontier also moves owes to the
theory of comparative advantage. Freer trade allows the country to focus production
on those goods and services in which it has comparative advantage. Thus, the
economy s production becomes more efficient. Given that the factor resources
(people, capital) have not changed, an increase in efficiency will push the production
possibilities frontier outward. This is because the total capacity is going to be
higher. Note that there is a difference between producing the same things more
efficiently, and producing goods that are more efficient. The total capacity of the
economy is changed when the mix of product and services is changed, marking a
shift in the curve to go along with moving production closer to the curve. In addition,
trade encourages technological transfer. Firms in each country learn from one
another, and the transfer of knowledge and technology is one way that this occurs.

AS THE HIPPAGOGUS sailed into the harbor of Leptis Magna, Rubio got a good
glimpse of the city and its people. It was a thriving Roman metropolis settled on the
coastline of North Africa, and its market was one of the most flourishing; ships
sailing the Mediterranean brought forth valuable goods, slaves and exotic animals.
Immense quantities of olive oil also arrived in the country, as well as high quality
garum, and salted fish were brought in from the coast. This grand port, with its superb
monumental architecture, was fast becoming the busiest in the Roman Empire. The
reason why Leptis Magnus was so well fixed was its strategic position of its many

17. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Microfluidics
Introduction Microfluidics has been studied over the past two decades. Since then
several industries have adopted these technologies to improve their processes. This
new technology helps to develop microstructures, where all chemical and physical
parameters could be tested in a controlled environment at a much faster rate with
fewer safety issues involved. The utility and the lifetime of microfluidic systems
depend critically on their ability to maintain a flow without interruption. Indeed,
clogging of channels due to adhesion of small particles to a wall has been
recognized as a serious problem in many applications. Therefore, a large variety of
academic and industrial research is going on these microfluidic devices, where
particulate flow... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A soft sphere experiences a different force within a moving fluid, such as drag,
buoyant weight, inertia to motion changes, and electrical interaction forces with
nearby pore walls (Sharma Yortsos, 1987) (Herzig, Leclerc, Goff, 1970)
(Mcdowell boyer, Hunt, Itar, 1986). Therefore, these suspended particles in fluid
leads to the formation of larger particle aggregates through the collision and
adhesion between them and this phenomenon have been called agglomeration.
Besides agglomeration, process splitting of large particle aggregates into small
aggregate or single particles and called as fragmentation. Most probably these two
phenomena s of agglomeration and fragmentation took place together in a system
(Henry, Minier, Pozorski, LefГЁvre, 2013). The physical mechanism that leads to
clogging of channel is extremely complicated and still a lot of study is going on to
understand its complexcity. The simplest cause of clogging is either particle is
entering a smaller size channel as compare to particle size or there is a gradual
increase in particles size, which leads to channel blockage (Goldsztein Santamarina,
2004). Another possibility is arch formation within a channel. Once the particles are
in the arching configuration, forces induced by the shear on the arch can hold the
particles in place and

The problem here is that Paul was just driving to work. He was not intentionally
speeding just to get away with it. Neither was he driving reckless. He was just

First of all, have you ever noticed that if you travel on Interstate 45 or on Interstate
20 for a long enough distance that there is always construction dealing with the
resurfacing or complete revamping of the roadway. Have you ever wondered why
they are working on the road or thought that it was just another government scam to
cost the taxpayers more money? The common thought asserted here is that higher
speeds create more wear and tear on the roadways. Another factor of speeding is
damage inflicted on cars while drivers are driving fast. This side asserts that the
faster the car runs, the harder the engine works; the harder the engine, works the
more wear the car takes. This may have been true with automobiles made several
years ago, but the cars and trucks manufactured today are quality automobiles. They
are tested very rigorously in order to withstand wear and tear. Second, the
government would also like us to believe that driving high speeds causes more
deaths than driving slowly. According to the Transportation Accident Commission,
Last year Victoria recorded its worst road toll in a decade, with speed being the
main cause of fatalities (36%) and serious injury (33%). (Transport Accident
Commission) This group is asserting that a person speeding is more likely to cause
death than a person not speeding. According to P.E. Spitz:

Roe vs. Wade. Roe Vs. Wade was the case that first recognized a constitutional right to

provisions being challenged were the informed consent rule, the spousal notification
requirement, the parental consent rule, a 24 hour waiting period, and imposition of

The two sides of this case were the plaintiffs, who were five abortion clinics and
doctors who provided abortion services, and the defendant, which was the state of
Pennsylvania. The plaintiffs filed suit to have the state declare the five provisions
unconstitutional. During the appeal in the Third Circuit Court, the court upheld all
but the husband notification requirement.
Casey is a divided judgement because none of the Justices opinions were joined by
a majority of Justices. However, the plurality decision, which was written by Justices
Souter, O Connor, and Kennedy, is accepted a the lead opinion because each of its
parts were agreed with by at least two other Justices , although different ones for each
part. The plurality opinion overturned the strict trimester formula previously used in
Roe vs. Wade which then made it a shorter time period before the State s interest in
the fetus outweighed the woman s interest to abort. The plurality opinion also got rid
of the husband notification requirement, saying that it would worsen situations of
spousal abuse because it would give husbands too much power over their wives.
William Rehnquist, Byron White, Harry Blackmun, John Paul Stevens, Antonin Scalia
, and Clarence Thomas those who were not included in the plurality decision wrote or
joined opinions in which they partially concurred and partially dissented from the
decision.

21. Causes Of Rebellion In Catcher In The Rye
The reason teenager has a common rebel to thing is because we are still young
people. Also, we still are learning about how important authority is. Teens look at
their surround and older people are rebel showing other young people that it s
okay to be against authority. They also show youth that it Okays to grow up and
be like them. Teens are like sponge; we soak in everything that we watch every day
and copy it because we think it s okay to be like our role models. Clearly this how I
feel about the reason teenager be rebel to thing and people and rules.
Holden is rebel because he doesn t like authority and he gets kicked out of good
school because of his behavior toward things. Holden stated I m the one flunking

22. Psychological And Physical Aspects Of Science
Philosophy of science has long studied the psychological and physical aspects of
scientific knowledge, where situational factors inescapably influence researchers and
outcomes of scientific studies and knowledge in general (reference). This idea is
reflective in philosophy by the term situated knowers (Stamford), broadly explained
by considering how the same object can be interpreted differently by others in terms
of their individual relation to it.
An explanation of an object is reflective of, but not limited to location in space and
time, emotions, attitudes, cognitive approach, worldviews and childhood. Ultimately,
these factors represent the extent to which a person believes a claim is significant
and valuable. The feminist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Feminism in science will be proved significant in the sense of providing a paradigm
for exposing human values suppressed within scientific work by demonstrating how
assumptions of gender have influenced scientific practice. As science is not and can
never be wholly objective, it will be argued that the feminist critique does not
undermine the objectivity of science, nor does its contributions make it more
objective as science was never objective to begin with. It will then be discussed how
feminist theories that are based on objectivity diverge from the crux of this matter
and can be seen as detrimental to the field. Exemplified Sexism in Science
Science is argued to have long come up with examples for the discrepancy of
achievements between men and women within biology, evolution and psychology,
exhibiting a long history of gendered bias. Under the guise of biology, sexism has
often emerged to explain female oppression, citing the influence of the sperm and egg
sleeping beauty/prince charming (Okruhlik 1994, p. 147) rendition of reproduction.
Science has presumably portrayed the female egg as an inactive participant within
reproduction, allowing the sperm take on an active heroic role that soley endures the
journey to fertilization. Science then ignored contrary evidence found in 1895 that
the egg produces fingerlike projections to actively guide the sperm, which has only

In the novel Life of Pi by Yann Martel, begins with introducing us to an average kid

Canada and Pi faces the hardest obstacles he ll ever have to endure. He s thrown
onto a lifeboat with a tiger, a hyena, Orangutan, and a zebra. He risks his life in a
severe storm and he s forced to give up everything in order to survive. Throughout
the novel it suggests that one will overcome any obstacle in order to survive. Three
days into his journey on the lifeboat Pi is up to this point unaware of all of the
supplies it s stocked with. He explains that he d never experienced a more physical
hell then for the lack of water he had. Pi had been surviving out at sea without
food, water, and sleep and becomes thoroughly exhausted. At this point Pi is barely
surviving and he is suffering on the tarpaulin. He eventually finds the resources the
lifeboat had been stocked with, but it was a good lesson for him. This lesson taught
him that this was not going to be an easy ride, and he needed to fight in order to
stay alive. Pi didn t have the basic needs of a human, so he couldn t meet his bodily

The Blackjack Uston Advanced Plus Minus System was popularized by Ken Uston.
In 1981, the blackjack Hall of famer released this card counting method to the public
with help of his book entitled Million Dollar Blackjack. When this book was
published, multitudes of people learned the craft of card counting; which help to lead
to increased winnings.
Like any good method, this card counting method had a couple of glitches which
lead to its down fall. For one, the Uston Advanced Plus Minus System was only
proficient in blackjack games that used one or two decks. After Uston released his
book in 1981, there were still an abundance of blackjack tables that existed in a
casino. But when many of these casinos learned of this card counting system, ... Show

American Mosaic, July 2011 FOCUS: Leslie Marmon Silko, Lullaby Lullaby is a
short story that first appeared in a book entitled Storyteller in 1981. This was a book
written by Leslie M. Silko that uses short stories, memories, poetry, family pictures,
and songs to present her message. The book is concerned, in general, with the
tradition of story telling as it pertains to the Native American culture. Lullaby seems
to be a story of tradition, change, death, loss and the tensions fostered as a result of
them between the old couple in the story and the Anglo American authorities of the
time. Throughout the story there are quite a few conflicts. Some are internal between

As a result they lost their home when the rancher told Chato he [and his old

Ayah s immense sense of devotion to Chato it seems apparent that she sees him as

walking along the road late on a very cold night [seemingly] in a daze brought on

her greatest losses. The lullaby she sings to him at the end of the story, as they lie

last pieces of tradition she can cling to from her own culture as she waits for death to
take her and her husband from under the cold, clear winter
26. Examples Of Moral Dilemma
People come face to face with moral dilemmas every day without even realizing it.
According to the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, a moral dilemma occurs
when you find yourself in a situation where you have to choose between two
choices, both choices at some extent are unethical. Looking back over my life, I can
recall a moral dilemma that I experienced while at work.
Before attending online college, I attended a school about 45 minutes away from
where I lived and worked. At the time I was working as a full time medical
receptionist, where I would leave right from work and go straight to school. I was
enrolled full time, taking four night classes, Monday through Thursday. My boss
was really flexible with me and told me if I wanted I could work part time and then ...

are usually a Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday schedule, I
technically had an extra day to get the work done. Taking four night classes, I was
always pressed for time to the point where I forgot about the take home portion
until late the night before it was due. My professor made it very clear that he
would not expect any late essay, unless some type of emergency took place. I
decided that I would stay up late and write the essay and print it out before class
the next day. When that day came I got up and went to work, feeling very proud of
myself until I realized that I did not save my full essay. That morning when I went
to print out the essay I realized that I must have deleted the majority of the work
and then saved it. This is where my moral dilemma came in. I had two choices to
write the essay at work or email my professor and lie to him about a family
emergency that came up. Neither one of these choices were ethical; If I was to do
27. Theme Of The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight From
Heaven
Imagine a society that prevents you from being successful because of who you are.
That is the kind of life both Balram and Victor lived throughout their lives. In The
White Tiger by Aravind Adiga, the main character Balram experienced excessive
discrimination because of his background. People like him who came from extreme
poverty are treated like animals because of the caste system that people in India
follows as some form of tradition. On the other hand, Victor, from The Lone Ranger
And TontoFistfight From Heaven by Sherman Alexie, he witnesses the tragic lifestyle
of native americans in the reservation and after leaving the reservation, he also
experienced discrimination because of the stereotypes against the native americans.
The marginalization Balram accustomed in the caste system of India and Victor
experienced outside of the reservation and within the community of the reservation
caused them to escape from their own lives and hope for a better reality.
Both Balram and Victor thinks that the culture that they lived throughout the most
part of their life is completely dysfunctional and that thought made them eager to
attain the outside culture. The life that Victor witnessed in the reservation and
Balram witnessed in his village proved the society they live in is flawed. In The
Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight In Heaven, Victor and Adrian watches the
basketball game of Julius but he is not doing as well as they expected him to be.

28. Analysis Of Michael Jackson s The Rock Band Nirvana s...
In 1992, Michael Jackson s Dangerous fell from the number one spot on the
Billboard music charts, replaced by grunge rock band Nirvana s sophomore album,
Nevermind, bringing alternative rock to mainstream and commercial success.
Nirvana had started out in Seattle s underground music scene and consisted of lead
singer and songwriter Kurt Cobain, bassist Krist Novoselic and drummer Dave
Grohl. Their sound was a subgenre of alternative rockknown as grunge, a combination
of punk rock and heavy metal characterized by heavy feedback and nihilistic lyrics.
Their first album, Bleach, was released under independent label Sub pop and found
moderate success in the underground punk scene, but it was not until they were
bought out by major label DCG Records that Nirvanawas able to reach commercial
success. This was significant for two reasons; one, it introduced a completely
different sound of music to the mainstream audience and two, the songs were
written by and represented Generation X. For these very reasons, Nevermind was
able to reach the top of the music charts. Before Nevermind, mainstream music was
largely controlled by old, baby boomer (those born after World War II to about 1965)
music executives. This resulted in music that Generation X (those that were born
after the baby boomers) could not relate to. Not only was Nevermind written by
Generation Xers, it also perfectly captured the feelings of Generation X: angry
disillusionment with older generations. In addition,
29. The Energy Crisis Of 1979
Energy is a daily consumption that everybody uses in their daily lives. As a nation,
we as modern people in the United States rely heavily upon energy sources such as
oil, wind, thermal, natural, solar, hydraulic, etc. During the 70s, energy was a
booming industry that everybody wanted to be a part of. This industry affected
people s way of living and everyday use of technology such as house appliances,
automobiles, industry, and city power grids. During this era, an energy crisis
occurred which had a big impact on many people nationally and internationally. This
energy crisis was the result of the production peak in the 1970s, the oil crisis of 1973,
and the energy crisis of 1979.
The Hubbert s peak can refer to the peaking of production of a particular area,
which has now been observed for many fields and regions. Hubbert s Peak was
thought to have been achieved in the United States contiguous 48 states. In the early
1970s, Oil production peaked at 10.2 million barrels per day and then declined for
several years since. Yet, recent advances in extraction technology and optimistic
production forecasts has led to some skepticism of Hubbert s theory. However, the
1970s peak has not been reached, despite assertions to the contrary. After peak oil,
according to the Hubbert Peak Theory, the rate of oil production on Earth would
enter a terminal decline. In a recent paper he publicly exploited that in 1956, Hubbert
correctly predicted that production of oil from
30. Rammed Earth
Rammed earth is a building technique which has been used for hundreds of years.
The technique involves earth (similar to cob) which is compacted, in situ, between
forms which are created by shuttering (Figure 12 13). This creates a monolithic
wall which is strong and durable with a variety of colours, depending on the earth
within the site. Two or more soil components must be used to create the correct size
appropriate wall (Windstorm Schmidt, 2013:402). The walls are mainly 300
600mm thick and can be free standing and, unlike cob, load bearing (Hall Djerbib,
2004:281). The final product does not need any further finishing such as plastering
and can be left to expose the different layers of earth. Post industrial materials such as
brick, tile and concretecan be recycled by adding it to the mixture, this will enhance
the colour and the strength of the walls, the materials can also add to the fire safety
of the walls. This method of recycling alongside the use of rammed earth can have an
even greater and more positive effect on the environment (Hall Djerbib, 2004:367).
Rammed earth also has the highest density and compression strength of all earth
construction techniques and therefore a more efficient material when it comes to
structural qualities in construction. To increase the structural qualities of rammed
earth, small amounts of concrete (5 10%) is added to the mixture (MaДЌkovГЎ

31. Guns Do Kill People By Philip Caputo
In Guns do kill people, an article by Philip Caputo on the changes that need to be
made to gun safety and gun laws, Caputo brings to light the problem that mass
destruction firearms create in our world. Most do not understand the harm of semi
automatic handguns, but as someone who has had experience firsthand of the
destruction they have, he shows the impact that is made by them. Based on his
experience with semi automatic weapons and his research of past violence in the
United States, Caputo makes a compelling argument to justify outlawing mass
destruction firearms.
Caputo has had first hand experience with the harm that semi automatic firearms
have. He served a tour of duty with a Marine Rifle Company in Vietnam and was
seriously wounded by an AK 47. He is intimately aware of the design of what these
weapons are meant to do. These weapons are made to kill people; as many as
possible, as quickly as possible (Caputo). According to Caputo s experience, it is
shown that he is aware of the repercussions that these weapons have and what they
can do. Caputo, being a hunter who owns shotguns and rifles, says it is prohibited to
bring a weapon of mass destruction into the fields. A semi automatic 9mm handgunis
not meant to injure or severely wound, it is meant to kill no matter what the cost. For
example, the use of semi automatic firearms outside of the military and the federal
government could be extremely detrimental to many civilians and their everyday
lives. Most

Utopia and Il Muqaddimah both show the importance of families and social

the cities they live in; they are a microcosm of their city and its objective to
survive; however, in Il Muqaddimah the subjects have the responsibility to help the
ruler prosper. Utopians work and in return share what they earn, while subjects work
for their survival. Utopians all have an equal work load and subjects hardships

Utopians have balance and this causes harmony, while subjects and rulers must
know and not step out of their roles because it would lead to downfall. Utopians all
have an equal work load this is very common in families; the husband works and
brings in money while the wife stays home and keeps the house and children in
order, the children provide a job for the wife and in time will help their mother.
This is all equal work because the without the husband there would be no food,
without the wife the house would become chaotic, and without children the wife
would have nothing to keep her busy which results in laziness and no prosper, if all
those who work away at pointless tasks and, together with them, that whole crowd
of lazy, languid idlers, if they all were put to work and useful work at that you can
easily see how little time would be enough to produce all thee goods required for
human needs (More 1711). This highlights the importance of work, without everyone
pulling their own weight others suffer and must work twice as hard instead of
harmonically. Rulers have an important job that promises prosperity to their territory.
This job requires them to provide hope to subjects, because without hope people
began to fall apart and no longer desire the will to succeed

poultry, the prebiotics are able to modulate the immune cells in the gut associated

It has also been shown that dietary prebiotics supplementation reduced the

35. The Issue Of Human Rights
In this paper I will focus on the subject of human rights. The recognition of human
rights is widely seen as abstract, yet human rights affect daily lives worldwide. We
can understand human rights and its initial role on politics through the example of
higher rule denying citizens everyday rights, worldwide. In particular, I will compare
and contrast the theoretical perspectives of liberalism and realism, and assess that
human rightscan best be examined through liberalism due to its ability to bring light
to international cooperation and optimism to everyday human nature. Liberalism
essentially points to international law and international institutions as an important
feature of the international landscape while realism exclusively is state centric,
therefore, does not pay attention to the individual needs of humans nor groups of
humans. Also, I will identify why realism privileges the ethics of self interest over
other forms of morality, thus, leaving little room for discussion on human rights and
why it diminishes our understanding of human rights in the political world.
This essay will proceed as follows: I will briefly discuss the core tenets to the
approaches of liberalism and realism. Second, I will define the topic of human rights
and what those rights are. Third, I will outline my argument for why liberalism is
superior to realism at best explaining human rights in the following way.
To begin with, liberalism involves the keywords: optimism, self determination and

Collecting data on social entrepreneurs is problematic for a number of reasons. For
instance, the nascency of the field means that there are relatively few (as compared
with fields like commercial entrepreneurship or family firms) potential subjects for
those wanting to study founders of social ventures. Moreover, due to the global
nature of the field, social entrepreneurs tend to be a disbursed group. Add to this the

Literature often contains betrayal; friends and family may deceive the main
character or the main character might be a Judas to others. The choices made by
individual characters serve instrumental in advancing the plot and often serving as
catalysts. Hamlet can be considered a classic revenge tragedy in which the death of
King Hamletby the hands of his own brother leads Hamlet to embark on a journey to
betray those closest to him. In Hamlet , Shakespeare intertwines betrayal within the
bonds of the familydynamics, affecting the emotional and mental stability of the
characters and delivers the aftermath.

certain roles and scolded me for it, thus, resulting in my resentment of
conservatives and conservative views. As I grew older, I noticed that I had
unconsciously leaned more towards conservative views as a child because I wanted
to fit in and not be the outlier in my family; now though, I can clearly see the faulty
logic that my family holds and that it is alright for me to have my own
40. Sibling Visitation in Foster Care
Preserving and maintaining sibling ties and relationships has been an ongoing
problem in the foster care system. Hegar (2005) states that since the decades when
orphans trains carried children westward, placement of siblings has been a child
welfare issue (p.719). Studies have noted the inadequate number of siblings in foster
carebeing placed together date back as far as 1921 (Theis and Goodrich, 1921).
Research and legislative efforts to address the problem of separation of siblings in
foster care have intensified (Hegar, 1988). The Adoption and Safe Families Act of
1997 has been instrumental in increasing legislation, specifically addressing the
issue of sibling placements at the state level (Heger, 2005). Until recently, there has
been little attention given to basic issues regarding siblings in out of home care
(McCormick, 2010, p.198). There are many reasons as to why this should be
important to child welfare researchers and policy makers. Sibling relationships are an
integral part of childhood and continued development and these sibling relationships
can serve as a source of protection and healing throughout their journey in out of
home care (Cicirelli, 1995).
Siblings in foster care who are separated often have infrequent contact with one
another. This separation causes disconnection and isolation and subjects youth to
additional trauma. Those who make the decision to separate siblings need to be held
more accountable for not ensuring that siblings
41. Terrorism is Wrong Essay
In the article Is Terrorism Distinctively Wrong? , Lionel K. McPherson criticizes the
dominant view that terrorism is absolutely and unconditionally wrong. He argues
terrorism is not distinctively wrong compared to conventional war. However, I claim
that terrorism is necessarily wrong.
To support his claim, McPherson argues there is nothing morally relevant to make a
distinction between terrorism and conventional war waged by states. In other words,
from the moral angel, there is no difference between terrorism and conventional war.
Both two types of political violence have some common natures related to morality
like posing threat to civilian lives. McPherson argues that conventional war usually
causes more casualties and produces fear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taking into account of the list general common characters, McPherson argues that
terrorism is not distinctively wrong.
In my point of view, terrorism actions generally contribute nothing to their political
ends. I acknowledge that perhaps some terrorists care about proportionality.
However, how can acts such as detonating a suicide bomb in a busy subway station
or attacking a school help achieve their political goals? Actually, the vast majority of
terrorist groups merely intentionally decimate the lives of innocents. What those acts
of terrorism bring about are thousands of civilian deaths and injuries, and the most
exquisite torment to their families. For example, in September 11 attacks, terrorists
successfully bombed the World Trade Center. Such terrorism act indeed disturbs the
American political and economic system in a short run. Nevertheless, the loss of the
World Trade Center definitely does not make an impact on the American economy.
On the contrary, the terrorism action causes a large amount of casualties. Lots of
children therefore lose their parents and family members of those victims have to
suffer from intense sorrow of loss of a loved one constantly. It is categorically
immoral to violate human dignity and deliberately inflict suffering on others, for
pointless political ends.
One may object to my argument that some conventional wars could
42. Examples Of Unsung Hero Edward Snowden
Unsung Hero Treason, a seven letter word that can break or make someone s
world. A word powerful enough to cause war or inspire peace. A word that
represents a crime that carries the tone of the betrayl and seeps into the very heart
of every soul it has affected. Traitors are the exact opposite of patriots; people who
serve their country. Over the past couple of years the name Edward Snowden has
been floating in and out of international media outlets. Some have keyed the word
traitor when introducing him and his actions in their articles and programs. Others
have scribed the word patriot next to his name for they believe that he has truly
done his country a great service. Edward Snowden is not a traitor, he is a hero. He is
one of the many unsung heroes that we were taught about during the Revolutionary
War. His brave act has sparked a global debate and is behind the many reformed acts
and laws that have been passed to protect our rights and privacy. Snowden is no
traitor he is Albert Einstein once said that The strength of the Constitution lies
entirely in the determination of each citizen to defend it. Yes, the Constitution
protects our rights, but it needs us to defend it from any threats towards it. The
Constitution of the United States assigned responsibilities to the President and
Congress. Among these responsibilities is to take care that the laws be faithfully
executed. The Constitution protects the rights of the people and had a specific set of
