本研究は、現在中学校で使用されている英語検定教科書に出現する連語について分析したものである。本研究は、教科書で取り扱われている連語はその「種別」がさまざまでありながら、相互を区別した体系的な提示がされていないという問題意識に基づいている。具体的には、“This is ~ speaking.”のような発話における頻度が比較的高いと思われる「口語表現」や、“stay up”のような「句動詞」、“make an effort”のような特定の単語と高頻度で共起する単語との組み合わせ(しばしば「コロケーション」として扱われる単語の組み合わせ)などが、教科書本課の新出語句の欄および巻末の語彙リストに列挙されている状態である。これらを体系的に区別した上で学習者に提示し、それが学習を効果的に支援するかを今後検証することを想定し、まずは特定の教科書に出現する連語全てについて分類を試みた。発表においては、対象となった388の連語をおよそ40のカテゴリーに振り分けた結果を報告する。
2. 研究の背景 1:教科書巻末付録のWord List
• 通例、検定教科書の巻末にはWord Listが掲載されている
• 「Word List」(4社)、「単語と熟語」(1社)、「単語の意味」(1社)
• 一般的な辞書同様、見出し語にぶら下がる形式で多様な「連語」が掲載されている

• これら「連語」を種別ごとに整理していきたい、というのが本研究の目的

考察
• 句動詞は豊富(連語全体の21.4%)
• 句動詞はNSの発話においては非常に高頻度だが、日本
人学習者はそれを避ける傾向にある(Okuwaki, 2021)
• Okuwaki (2021)では、日本人英語学習者は句動詞よりも
一語動詞を好むとされているが、この句動詞リストの中
で一語動詞に言い換えられるものは少ない
• 小学校・中学校の初習段階から、なるべく多くの句動詞
に触れることは適切だと考える

考察
• 語彙的・意味的・文法的を含んだ動詞中心のコロケーションは
豊富(連語全体の23.2%)
• 動詞+名詞の組み合わせが最も高頻度
名詞が最も高頻度な品詞であるので、適切と考えられる
• ただし、build a fireなど、一般的に辞書では見出しにならない
コロケーションも登場している(教科書内の題材の影響)
• 辞書の見出しになっているか、NSの使用頻度は高いかなどが
採用の基準であるべきかもしれない

コーパスにおける頻度(この場合はCOCA)に対して、当該見出
し語が使用されている割合を求めた

れば、非常に低頻度でNSがあまり使わないものも掲載されてい

• 生徒が自ら使えるようになるかという点では、
難度差が大きいと思われる
• 難度差を教員側・生徒側も認識できるマーク
などが付けられていると良いだろう
