Theory building from case studies provides opportunities to develop new theories from patterns across cases, but also poses challenges for writing publishable manuscripts. Case studies allow exploration of "how" and "why" questions in new areas where no existing theory applies. However, researchers must justify why an inductive case-based approach is necessary rather than testing existing theories. Selection of representative yet diverse cases, collection of rich qualitative data, balancing theory development with evidence, and clearly presenting theoretical arguments can help address common issues in case-based theory building.
