Mary Rowlandson And Benjamin Franklin
Every colonist that came to America had their own perceptions of its inhabitants. The majority of
these people believed the Native Americans were savages because their culture differed from the
colonists. To the colonists, everything needed to be proper. The way they dressed, whether or not
they went to church, or how they raised their children needed to be up to code. If not, their fellow
colonists looked differently at them. The natives were entirely different. Their goal was simply to
survive, and they were conducting survival the best way they knew how to. The differences
between the two cultures led to many severe problems. Mary Rowlandson and Benjamin Franklin
had two entirely different views of the Native Americans, based upon their encounters with them.
Mary Rowlandson believed the Native Americans were savage, blood thirsty creatures that were
either going to kill or be killed. In her story, she supports her claim by using vivid imagery of a
major event that took place during her lifetime. A very interesting quote from Rowlandson s
literature is It is a solemn sight to see so many Christians lying in their blood, some here, and
some there, like a company of sheep torn by wolves, all of them stripped naked by a company of
hell hounds, roaring, singing, ranting, and insulting, as if they would have torn our very hearts out
(Rowlandson). This quote uses an incredible amount of imagery and allows the reader to see just
how Rowlandson feels about the natives.

VT-8 Research Paper
Wednesday evening June 3, aboard the carrier Hornet, Lieutenant Commander John Waldron
gathered the members of Torpedo Squadron 8 (VT 8) for a briefing. VT 8 was flying the
obsolete 1930 s vintage Douglas Devastators torpedo planes. They had not received a lot of flight
training in their ten months in the navy. Most members had never taken off of a carrier carrying
a torpedo but just six weeks earlier they had watch Doolittle s B 25 bombers take off the Hornet
for the raid on Tokyo. If Doolittle s pilots could take off in a bomber, the members of VT 8 could
handle taking off with a torpedo. A Japanese task force was threatening Midway Island and a battle
to stop them was expected to occur tomorrow. Waldron told them not to worry about navigation but
to just follow him. Waldron finished his briefing by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The New England Convicts
Convicts were first bought to Australia in the year 1788 with the first fleet which was led by
Captain Arthur Phillips. In the first fleet, there were 11 ships with a total of 717 convicts
aboard. The ships were called, Alexander, Borrowdale, Charlotte, Fishburn, Friendship, Golden
Grove, Lady Penrhyn, Prince of Wales, Scarborough, HMS Sirius and HMS Supply. Out of these
11 ships, 6 of them were used to transport convicts. These 6 ships were, Alexander, Charlotte,
Friendship, Lady Penrhyn, Prince of Wales and the last one was Scarborough. The other 5 were
used to transport supplies. This voyage from England to Australia took over 252 days which would
be 8 months and 1 week. The first fleetset sail on the 13th of May in the year 1787 from England...

That was until 1783 when the American War of Independence ended. When America refused to
take in anymore convicts, the English were forced to take the prisoners somewhere else. Due to
prisons overcrowding, they were still thinking where to put all these convict. Their solution, was to
put them in old, rotting prison ship known as hulks. Hulks were normally old naval ships that
could not go out into sea and fight but they were still able to safely float on the water in the
harbour. Once all the hulks were full with convicts, they began shipping them out to Australia
because they thought that no one owns the land and was big enough to hold convicts for many
years. One other reason that they moved these criminals here was because their old system was
very cruel and it really disturbed the public. Their system was to chop the head off of the criminal.
Due to the finding of Australia, it gave the English a new opportunity, for both the expansion of the
empire and a place to keep the convicts. The bringing back of the ancient method of banishment,
reduced the population stress in the Western parts of Europe by the less horrific methods in the
newly identified territories. This idea of banishing the criminals was the replacement for the death
sentence. The death sentence was not fully removed, as it still existed for the people who
committed major crimes. There was amnesty of the death sentence for the people that committed
minor crimes.
What work did the convicts do on arrival to Australia?
The work a convict did, was dependent on who they worked for, what skills they had and where
they worked. Now we are going to look at how a convict s day went by. Rules

The Sinking of the Titanic in Dusk to Dawn by Dr. Paul J....
The sinking of the luxurious Titanic was a traffic disaster that could have been avoided. Dr. Paul
J Quinn stated in his book Dusk to Dawn The Titanic had actually been designed to carry forty
eight lifeboats but was rejected because it made the deck look cluttered (11). The sinking could
have been avoided if the Titanic crew had not over estimated its strength, and had listened
carefully to the warnings of numerous other ships, and if the crew managed the rescue efforts into
the lifeboats correctly. The Titanic held 2,200 people, yet it only held enough lifeboats for 1,100
people, which made the rescue efforts were not followed by procedure. The Titanic was originally
designed to hold 48 lifeboats but the designer... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was no consistency in loading the lifeboats because when they put them on the deck they
only put them on one side of the boat. So a mans life depended on which side of the boat he was
on. As the crewmembers loaded people on the rescue boats the women and childrenwere
allowed to go first, but some of the crew jumped on these lifeboats as they were set off. This
tragedy could have been avoided if the crew had not over estimated the largest ship in the world,
built by a work force of 17,000 people. The designers and crew overlooked many details on the
ship knowing that if this ship had ever sunk that they would not be ready for the rescue. The
Titanic was considered unsinkable by just about everyone, including Paul Smith the captain of the
boat. The crew and the builders of this ship had considered no worries about the Titanic, so they
were not fully planned for this destruction (Ballard 11). The radio workers for the Titanic were not
even on twenty four hour surveillance. The workers of the ship thought that they did not need them
there because they thought that nothing could go wrong. There was a #8230;planned preparation
rescue effort (The Titanic) that was meant for the crewmembers to go through many times. This
preparation effort was only gone through one, the day before the maiden voyage. If the workers
would of considered the massive Titanic as any other boat, they might have taken the correct
precautions and more people might

Film Analysis Of The Film 12 Angry Men
This essay will explore the Oscar winning United artist film 12 Angry Men directed by Sydney
Lumet; with a thorough evaluation of how successfully the narrative reflects tensions in 1950s
America. 12 Angry Men is renowned for its strong linear narrative and the ability to obtain the
attention of the audience with the use of only one mise en scene. The 1957 courtroom drama was
established around the key theme of Politics and the battle between communism and capitalism in
1950s America; with a traditional Hollywood Narrative being sustained throughout, enabling a
powerful and persuasive style. 12 angry meninitiate with an introductory scene, displaying external
architecture of the New York County Courthouse which sets the scene for the rest of the film by
highlighting the importance of the location. When brought inside, the audience is introduced to the
12 jurors, through a camera pan from right to left, to show their importance as they remain the key
focus for the entirety of the film. With a high camera angle introduction of the main suspect, a
young underprivileged Hispanic boy, whose life depends on the white men who sit before him.

There are many nostalgic ideas of the 1950s that often create images of happiness; not far from
those depicted in blockbusters such as Randal Kleiser s Grease (1959) and Walter Lang s Cheaper

Cyrogens are Great Improvements to Electrochemical Battery...
Cryogens are effective thermal storage media which, when used for automotive purposes, offer
significant advantages over current and proposed electrochemical battery technologies, both in
performance and economy. An automotive propulsion concept is presented which utilizes liquid
nitrogen as the working fluid for an open Rankine cycle. The principle of operation is like that of a
steam engine, except there is no combustion involved. Liquid nitrogen is pressurized and then
vaporized in a heat exchanger by the ambient temperatureof the surrounding air. The resulting high
pressure nitrogen gas is fed to the engine converting pressure into mechanical power. The only
exhaust is nitrogen.
The usage of cryogenic fuels has significant advantage over other fuel. Also, factors such as
production and storage of nitrogen and pollutants in the exhaust give advantage for the cryogenic
fuels.

The importance of cars and usage also and not only the cars but also other automobile vehicle
which is in the present world is increasing day by day. There are various points and terms that
influence the choice of the car. This includes the efficiency, performance, fuel, pollution, emission
which came during the combustion etc. As the prices of fuel (gasoline fuel, diseal ad others) are
increasing and the availability and presence is decreasing we have to go for alternative choice.

Action Research Literature Review
Executive Summary
Action Research believes that Human organizations can only be understood as whole entities
(Baskerville, 1999) and that social processes are best to be studied when change is introduced to
observe the effects of these. Furthermore, It makes use of a cyclical approach in order for an initial
holistic understanding of a social setting. The action research literature has strongly challenged the
character of positivism. It is believed that this type of research is derived from a different
ontological basis; it tends to a humanistic social practice rather than a traditional natural science.
Lewin started with the term В‘action research . His approach to the process is composed of a circle

Interpretivism beliefs that the world is socially constructed and subjective, that the observer is part
of the what is observed and that science is driven by human interest. Furthermore, interpretivism,
like action research, tries to understand what actually is happening by looking at the totality of each
situation.
Positivism is a research philosophy that involves working with the observable social reality. The
emphasis is on highly structured methodology to facilitate replication, and the end product can be
law like generalisations similar to those produced by the physical and natural scientists (Saunders,
2003). The basic beliefs are that the world can be seen as an external and objective object where
the observer remains independent. The action research literature has strongly challenged the
character of В‘positivist research (Waterman et al, 2001; Hart, 1996; Susman and Evered, 1978).
These can be summarised as follows:
В§The impossibility of achieving the assumption of objectivity in research findings and outcomes
as well as the ability to control a limited number of research variables.
В§A critique of the notion of researchers attaining a detached/value free/neutral position and a
recognition of the existence of oppressive ideologies and vested interests;

During my philosophy of teaching, I need to be confident with students during course. I need to
encourage my students during course so that they have trust and ability to study. I have planned a
teaching style to teach students in both practice and theory. Health care depends on the clinical
practice and if you do not have this knowledge, you cannot work in the hospital and clinics.
However, some students do not choose to work in the hospital and wish to focus on the theory and
education. For example, when I graduated from college, I never planned to study at the master s
level. However, after working four years in the hospital setting, I decided to apply for a master s
degree so that I could become a professor. I need to understand about students circumstances,
because already I was student. In this case, I can teach and give significant information to my
students. Therefore, I have the capacity to deal with all students and teach them to high level in the

Statistics about too much homework are illuminating: too much homework can lead to being
counterproductive. After a school day, kids come home and do their homework that can cause

The sultan thus decided that he would convert to Christianity and that his baronets would follow
him in his conversion. With this conversion the Roman emperor gave Constance away in marriage,
but she was overcome with sorrow, for she did not wish to be sent to a foreign country. She accepts,
however, thinking that women are made to be subject to men s governance. The mother of the
sultan (the sultana), however, learned of his intentions to convert, and sent for her own council.
Analysis:
The Man of Law s Tale exalts the sacrifice and honor of Constance, the daughter of the Roman
emperor who will suffer a number of injustices during the years over which the story takes place.
It is an overtly religious tale that does not even reach for the subtlety of allegory. Constance
depends on her religious faith for her survival throughout a number of events in the story, while
those characters who do not share her Christian faith are uniformly evil, whether pagan or Muslim.
The tale takes a narrow view of humanity in which Christianity represents unadulterated purity and
any other religious tradition is pure evil. Yet the Man of Law s Tale places a significant emphasis
on fate;
Her virtue and honor stem from her devotion to Christian principles, while those who adhere to
other religious beliefs are automatically suspect. This holds

Concept Of Market Failure And Its Aspects On Allocation,...
The goal of this essay is to introduce the concept of market failure and what might happen if
government intervention is prosecuted. Also this essay will acknowledge the different aspects of
one of the major topics in economics the scarce of resources and it s aspects: allocation, production,
and distribution. Furthermore in this writing academic literature and articles would be used in
order to defend the outcome of the discussion about government intervention in the market.
Economics are a complex matter which alters in time. Economics can be also defined as the
science which studies human behavoir as a relation between ends and scarce means which have
alternative uses (L.Robbins,1935,p.495) In other words economics are a study of how to allocate,
product, and distribute goods among the people. Economics as any other science faces problems
which need to be viewed in depth in order to be resolved. Some of the main issues faced are the
scarce of resources and when is the government intervention required.
The issue of government interference in the economy is considered more than two centuries. One
of the main reasons for intervention are market failures, with manifest limitations of the market
mechanism, leading to inefficiency in allocation, production and distribution of resources.
In order to understand how the market failure accumulates and is government intervention the best
choice to deal with market crisis, specific attention should be given to the scarcity of

good theory but it doesn t work out in actual life. I ve always done the best I could but things don
t go right for me. I m not one of the lucky ones!
The Basic Ideas of Science of Mind, pg. 65
You are one of the lucky ones, even if you were betting on a different outcome. There is no reason
to deny the existence of luck, chance, randomness and possibility in our infinite universe. There is
good reason to not rely on it, bet on it, blame it for our failures or attribute our success to luck.
Luck is not the hand of fate or any such controlling influence in life. Luck is not a force to be
reckoned with, or a power that controls events. Luck refers to our experience of an infinite
universe that is beyond our control. We call it good luck when we benefit and bad luck when we
do not, but we are only talking about whether or not we benefit from the way it is; and that is a
matter of our ability to appreciate, plan, and choose wisely or not. Do not attribute success or
failure to luck. Do not think of luck as an agent, or agency, or controlling factor in the game we
play. It is not. Luck is involved wherever and whenever there is more than one possible

The Rise Of College Tuitions
The sudden rise of college tuitions began right after the recession in 2008. Many people lost their
jobs, and their current jobs were not paying well enough for them to survive through this
devastating time. More people turned to higher education and college tuition began to rise because
obtaining college majors will guarantee a higher pay other than minimum wage. This downturn didn
t end here because over the years, tuitionrose even higher. In 2014, the debt for college students
reached to 1.2 trillion dollars, that is an eighty four percent major increase since the recession. It is
very difficult for every individual to repay their entire college tuitionon time because their job may
be underpaid. If you begin to miss your monthly payments, there will be several consequences
right ahead of you. Coming from a 2013 study, published in Anxiety, Coping and Stress stated,
Those with greater financial strain perceived more stress, had more symptoms of depression,
anxiety, and ill health. There are many existing highly stressful situations that cause college
students to drop out. Students that depend on themselves, with no help from their families are
more likely to drop out due to financial issues. A survey conducted by Public Agenda reported by
New York Times reveals that students who are receiving financial help from their families have
sixty three percent graduation rate, exceeding the forty two percent of those who graduate and pay
for college on their own. This proves

Military Heroes Research Paper
What is a Hero? Being a hero is someone who makes a sacrifice to better others. They are not a
famous athlete or musician. My version of a hero spends twelve months at a time away from their
families. They experience physical and mental trauma. Heroes risk their life for their country.
Heroes are men and women in the United Statesmilitary. People in the military spend long periods
of time away from their families during deployments. Men and women in our military miss once in
a life time events, such as their children being born, anniversaries, birthdays, and so much more.
These men and women come home to children and other familymembers who do not know who

Book Review Of Rodman Philbrick s Freak The Mighty
Freak the Mighty Essay
In the novel, Freak the Mighty, author Rodman PhilBrick wrote about a boy(Max) who had a
learning disability, hated school, and was a social outcast to the rest of the world. Later in the
novel Max met Kevin, a boy who had a physical disability. The two boys instantly became friends
and as their friendship grew, they grew both mentally and physically. Both Kevin, who was
nicknamed Freak , and Max gained a good friend when they met each other. By gaining a good
friend, they changed people s lives. One way the author showed how a good friend can change
one s life is by showing how different Max acted after he became friends with Freak. Another way
Rodman Philbrick showed that in the novel, is by telling how Freak the Mighty, a nickname that
Freak came up with for him and Max, changed how other people looked and acted towards both
Max and Freak when they were together. This was shown a final time when Max and Freak the
Mighty changed Freaks life. If one has a good friend by his side, then together the two friends can
change lives.
One way the author showed how Freak the Mighty changed people s lives in more than one way
is by telling how different Max acted when he was around Freak. An example of this happened
when Max began to like reading and going to school. Max state s, And now that I ve written a book
who knows, I might even read a few. No big deal (Philbrick 183). This goes to show that after only
a year of being friends with Freak,

Airport Security
In this essay, I will attempt to argue that TSA serves as a mechanism for the government to frame
the nature of the debate on privacy, in a way that is beneficial to them. To do this I will first argue
that airport security and the TSA are objectively ineffective and merely creates the illusion of
privacy. Despite not actually protecting us, the system of airplane security, conditions individuals in
the general public to be willing to make sacrifices in privacy for a perceived greater good in
community safety. This viewpoint of individuals sacrificing a little privacy for the well being of
society is the essentially the same nothing to hide argument that the governmentuses to justify mass
surveillanceand the violation of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is problematic because it is frighteningly easy to make mistakes, and nearly impossible to
catch a suspect. In fact, some security experts suspect that the TSA has never once caught a
terrorist at a checkpoint. A natural byproduct of a one checkpoint system is massive lines. It is
widely accepted both in the intelligence community and popular culture that terrorists seek out
crowds because they can inflict the most damage. This is disturbingly ironic; as in an attempt to
prevent us against terrorism, the TSA conveniently packs hundreds of travels together in cramped
security lines, creating a clear terrorist target. Therefore, technically terrorists don t even need to
get through security in order to make an attack. All of these structural flaws in the American
airplane security system or TSA, point to the conclusion, that the massive TSA system merely
creates the appearance of protection. In the last paragraph, I have attempted to show how the TSA
creates a guise of protection while doing very little to prevent terrorism. However, despite doing
very little to protect us, the TSA profoundly impacts the parameters for how the debate around how
privacy is defined. In fact, the government uses systems like the TSA to control the narrative around
privacy. In the current system of airport security, innocent citizens, are

Discuss The Reasons For The Decline Of The 50 s
Just as the studio system did not appear from nowhere in 1930 it did not suddenly end in 1948.
However, it s a convenient date to signal the end of the golden age because of the Paramount
decision. In 1948 the US supreme court ordered that the oligopolistic control of the majors was
uncompetitive. The major studios were ordered to sell all their cinemas to allow fairer
competition for films and to stop the system of block booking to allow other cinemas to negotiate
for films. This of course meant that profits were reduced for the majors. However, this may have
actually helped them as audiences began to decline in the 1950s for three major reasons:
Competition from TV, Increasing affluence and Suburban living. During this period several stars

Speech On Plastics
Year 10 English
Language Analysis Essay
In a response to a recent rise in the number of plastic bags, debate has resurfaced in the media
regarding the extensive use and deposition of plastic bags. Stakeholders which include the
Australian Retailers Association, governments of different states and various legislations have
implemented measures to reduce the total number of plastic bags that are being consumed and
eternally contaminated. The wider implications include, soaring death rates of a number of marine
animals and the exponential cost on recycling plastic bags. In the opinion piece titled, Forget, reuse
and recycle. Let s flat out reject plastic bags, which appeared on 31 August 2017 in the Courier
Mail, author Jane Fynes Clinton contends in a controlled and authoritative tone that the use of
plastic bags are an ongoing concern and change that is necessary is disregarded. Dr Clinton has put
forward this article to citizens of Australia, local supermarkets, governments and institutes.
Establishing with outrage and melancholy, Clinton argues that plastic bags do not just contaminate
the oceans, but also violate the environmental terms and affect many marine organisms. The author
s convincing use of active voice, highlighting that, change is coming, but we are hastening
frustratingly, not only asserts a sense of guilt in the reader, but also seeks to reinforce that we as
humans continue to oscillate on whether we should protect marine life that we need for the future.
It is now becoming ubiquitous. In a frustrated manner, the author employs the reader s sense of
fear that, the changes are going to bite hard some creatures. This phrase embeds a a frank sentiment
in the audience who are stubborn to change and incline to their negative opinions, while also urging
our support the contention by creating an appeal to authority. Moreover, the context is heightened
by her reference to supermarkets chains announcing a bag ban. Moreover, in the following
sentence, It is frightening, appeals to the audience s sense of fear. This encourages the reader to
think about the consequences of the millions of plastic bags floating in our precious oceans. The
inclusion of the image of a person carrying

Rite Of Initiation In Araby By James Joyce
Rite of Initiation
Rite of initiation, sounds like something frightening, but in literature a rite or story of initiation
does not refer precisely to something of terror. The protagonist of Araby faces experiences for
which his previous experiences had not prepared him. In this case the main character enters a new
stage of his life (an evolutionary stage), from childhood to adolescence. For this reason, Araby, by
James Joyce, should be considered a story of initiation.
The protagonist, and at the same time the narrator of this story is a child that all the experiences
he has had are based on school and play with his friends. He lives in a small, quiet neighborhood,
where day to day life is monotonous. However, the protagonist loses interest in the games, since
something else catches his attention: the sister of his friend Mangan. This boy spends hours
looking at this girl and does not understand the sensations and feelings that she causes, feelings that
come to his life for the first time to make him discover love.
The protagonist has not lived before a similar situation since it is the first time that falls in love.
This first experience represents a discovery. This child does not understand the feelings
discovered and the state in which he is. (...) I myself did not understand (...) I thought little of the
future. I did not know whether I would ever speak to her or not or, if I spoke to her, how I could
tell her of my confused adoration (par. 5). The protagonist

ideas. At an age where you would generally start to develop from a boy to a man, age sixteen, Noel

that the he man naturally lives. Sad. (Perrin, Page 247 248) I completely disagree with that.
Perrin makes it sound like it s such a burden to be envious or jealous of those manly qualities. I
think it s human nature to do that and there is nothing wrong with acting out that way. No man
is going to say I want to be that guy , instead they re saying I want to be LIKE that guy ,
combining the qualities you have already with the ones that you don t have. I believe if you re
not constantly searching to be better in life or have better qualities, whether they re manlier or

because that update is going to make it better. Same rules apply to human life.
Another issue I have with another one of Perrin s opinions is he also believes that ...they

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Karnovsky s Fixative
Karnovsky s fixative is made of gluteraldehyde, paraformaldehyde, and phosphate buffer. This
fixative is considered the best one used in this class, so the best results were expected when using
Karnovsky s fixative. Gluteraldehyde functions similarly to formaldehyde in that it cross links
effectively. However, this molecule is larger than that of formaldehyde, so it is not possible to use in
paraffin embedding, because the large wax molecules would be unable to penetrate the tissue
after fixation. The largest disadvantage of this exceptional fixative is the higher cost, both of the
materials required for fixation, and for the required plastic embedding rather than paraffin. On the
other hand, the benefits of using Karnovsky s fixative often outweigh the increased cost. The
cytological preservation of tissue using this fixative is incredible, and allows for great
visualization of structures under the microscope (Hopwood, 1967). This fixative can be used for
electron microscopy due to this feature, and offers stunning results using less powerful
microscopes as well. A further disadvantage of this fixative and embedding process is that the
stains we are able to use are more limited as well.

Dickens Great Expectations. I will examine how Estella Havisham was imagined in Dickens
Great Expectations and how her personality was shaped into the Victorian era. I will explore the
character of Estella Havisham as a Narcissist, taking into account the works of psychoanalysts like

These norms were influenced by various factors such as economy, domesticity, gender roles,
religion, imperialism, and much more. Amid the period symbolized by the rule of British ruler
Queen Victoria, women were not liable to have the right to sue, suffrage rights, or the right to own
property. In the meantime, women took part in the paid workforce in expanding numbers taking
after the Industrial Revolution. Feminist ideas spread among the informed female working classes,
the women s suffrage movement picked up force and discriminatory laws were cancelled in the last
years of the Victorian age. In the Victorian Era, women were thought as only fitting in with the
domestic sphere and this stereotype obliged them to limit themselves only to their household and
raising children. Alex Owen puts this Victorian ideal of woman in words as The categorisation of
so called female virtues found its expression in the sentimental and idealised notion of the
spiritually refined angel in the house woman as an angelic creature whose rightful sphere of
influence was the home and domesticity (7). By making domesticity seem desirable to the
Victorian women they used such tools in order to keep them behind doors. Owen further explains
the Victorian feminine roles by pointing out, In analysing many discourses which together
constituted the Victorian ideology of femininity, including the domestic literature written for, and
often by, women, it becomes clear that perspective understanding was underpinned by certain major
constituents. Among the most important of these was the notion of innate female passivity, a
negative attribute constructed in opposition to so called masculine will power. Along with this
went the concepts of female frailty, constructed in opposition to a standard masculine strength and
virility; a moral and spiritual sensibility which acted as the

Pressure Ulcers As A Hospital
Upon admission to a hospital, a patient may be at risk for numerous hospital acquired
conditions. Pressure ulcers, also known as pressure sores or bed sores , are a type of hospital
acquired condition that may develop during a hospital admission if proper risk assessment is not
performed by a registered nurse (RN). Pressure ulcers form over bony prominences, such as the
back, heel, ischium, sacrum, and elbow, when circulation of these prominences is impaired
(Jarvis, 2012). Pressure ulcers may develop when a person is confined to a bed or immobilized,
which impedes proper delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the skinresulting in cell death (Jarvis,
2012). Pressure ulcers are divided into four stages. In stage I, a nonblanchable redness of intact
skin appears that does not disappear for 24 hours after pressure is relieved. In stage II, there is
partial thickness erosion of the epidermis or the dermis layer of the skin. Full thickness pressure
ulcers are a stage III ulcer, which extend into subcutaneous tissue. Lastly, stage IV pressure ulcers
involve all skin layers and may expose muscle, tendon or bone. Pressure ulcers can be prevented if
risk assessmentis performed and at risk individuals are identified (DeLaune Ladner, 2011). Risk
assessment scales, such as the Braden Scale and Norton Scale, are used to determine the
likelihood of skin breakdown in a patient. The Braden Scale is divided into six categories that help
predict pressure sore risk and each category is

although not as prominent as search, it provides a very different role as a digital channel. Email

and to build brand loyalty. One of the keys to unlocking the potential of email marketing in travel
is to understand that the seasonality of email works differently to other digital channels. Moreover,
this provides a great opportunity for marketers in the travel and tourism industry to keep their

Some of the recent work related to the automated test data generation is listed below:
Search based approaches have been extensively applied to solve the problem of software test data
generation. Yet, test data generation for object oriented programming (OOP) is challenging due to
the features of OOP, e.g., abstraction, encapsulation, and visibility that prevent direct access to
some parts of the source code. To address this problem Abdelilah Sakti et al. [26] have presented an
automated search based software test data generation approach that achieves high code coverage for

Constantine s Edict Of Milan
Throughout history there have been moments that define the rest of time. Turning points or critical
moments in which one decision or creation forever changed the path of history. Such moments as
Constantine s Edict of Milan, Gutenberg s development of the printing press, and Martin Luther s
Ninety five Theses forever changed the landscape of Western Civilization. Who knows where
Western Civilization would be without these great hinges of history.
In 313 CE, Constantine passed the Edict of Milan. This edict declared the freedom of everyone in
the Roman Empire to choose their own religion. He neither made polytheism illegal nor did he
make Christianity the official religion of Rome. Instead, to placate both pagans and Christians,
both were acceptable to be practiced. This edict also stated that the emperor was protected by the
highest divinity, whether that was God, Jupiter or any other god in the Roman pantheon.
Constantine continued his work to bring pagans and Christians into peaceful coexistence. He
gave the Christians their property confiscated during Diocletian s Great Persecution, but he had
the Roman treasury reimburse the people who had bought the stolen goods. He also declared the
Lord s Day to be called Sunday in honor of the day the Christian s God rested and in honor of the
sun, an aspect of pagan worship. He even kept the traditional title of Pontifex Maximus or chief
priest. After decades of persecution the Christians finally had an emperor on their

certain framework and GAAP allows for uniformity among companies. However, there are
differences in GAAP concepts throughout the various geographic regions of the United States.

Target will need to review their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to determine if it can
handle the change to IFRS from GAAP. Since different accounting practices may need to be
adopted as it pertains to fixed assets, R D, leases, among others the ERP system may need to be
changed.
Another consideration would be whether they will need to maintain two sets of records. If this is a
requirement needed, they will have resources tied up to maintain. An IFRS financial statement
looks different than GAAP. One may not realize these changes but there is less information on the
IFRS statements however there are more notes.
With all this information and much more to consider Target does not have the appropriate team in
place for this transition. They will need a team specifically designated for IFRS and should bring
in experts on IFRS to lead the team.

these changes but there is less information on the IFRS statements however there are more notes.
IFRS does not require a certain format to be followed while GAAP has a specific requirement
such as single step or multiple step. Extraordinary items are prohibited in IFRS while they are
allowed in GAAP if they are infrequent and not the norm.

Niemi s Argument Analysis
Niemi (2011) makes the argument that there is a greater need for civics classes at an early age in
order to increase political knowledge that students have in the future. The premise is that political
attention and voting are habitual, and promoting these values at a young age may create a type of
inertia that will carry out throughout their lives. In order to be successful, however, I would argue
that simply presenting information about political events and actors would not be sufficient. Neimi
makes the statement earlier that American students are struggling in mathematics and science, but
then contents that simply adding more classes with have a positive effect on civics. Instead of
simply adding more avenues of information for students, it makes more theoretical sense to make
these classes active. Social Learning Theory (Bandura, 1977) would argue that in order to gain
benefits of habitual voting, they would need to rehearse the practice of voting. Given that many
High schoolstudents cannot vote, it would be up to the civics classes to simulate the experience of
voting in a tangible way for the students to receive benefits.... Show more content on

Fishbein (1979) argues that intentions are the strongest predictor of behavior, and issues arise in
changing behavior when behavioral outcomes and actions are conflated. A behavioral outcome is
a grand, general goal. An example would being a good citizen. A behavioral action is a specific
occurrence that contributes to an outcome, but does not completely satisfy the outcome. An
example would be voting as an indicator of being a good citizen. Voting plays a role in being a
good citizen, but it doesn t completely satisfy it. The suggestion by Niemi, then, that providing
more political information in the classroom and motivating students to pursue it outside the
classroom is one that is simply one behavioral action that is being

The Loss Of Community And Connection
I am going to discuss two examples showing the loss of community and connection. I will discuss
an example of each. I will try to figure out what the author s meaning was, what the characters in
the story took it as, if the situation shows the loss of community or connection. Also, I will discuss
the ways that the story shows how either community or connection has been lost in the story and
what that means in the story. In Speech Sounds by Olivia Butler talks about how the community
/connection is lost when there is a loss of language. The first example of the story shows that there
is a loss of community. The first example of the loss of community is when the bus driver stops
suddenly to stop the first fight but a second fight starts up... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Community is lost because the citizens do not have the same goals, interests, or attitudes. The
people go their own way for wanting the same goals, interests, or attitudes. The passage in the
story shows that the people who started the fight are not in sync with what the bus driver is
trying to tell the men fighting, which is, to stop fighting. The author is trying to say in this
passage that if people do not have the same goals, interests, or attitudes people will not look out
for each other and this is seen throughout the story. This passage shows the loss of connection. In
the middle of the story when Rye mentions that the neighbor across from her wants Rye to tend
to his needs shows a loss of connection. Instead, she thought of the man who lived across the
street from her. He rarely washed since his bout with the illness. And he had gotten into the habit
of urinating wherever he happened to be. He had two women already one tending to each of his
large gardens. They put up with him in exchange for his protection. He had made it clear that he
wanted Rye to become his third women. (Butler, 572). The women and the men in this example
take it that there does not need to be a community since the epidemic happened. The author s
meaning was meant to be that people need a community and the loss of a community will destroy
people. People will be destroyed because they do not have a support system to help them

The Ex Basketball Player by John Updike Essay
The Ex Basketball Player by John Updike
A Loss of Motivation
In English Seven we read a poem called the Ex Basketball Player by
John Updike. The main character s name was Flick Webb. The poem explains how Flick lost
motivation. In high school Flick was an excellent basketball player, if not, the best. After high
school Flick didn t continue his basketball skills, and he never had tried as hard on his academics
as he did on basketball. Flick now works at Berth s
Garage and has a dead end life. I think that Flick gave up because he didn t want to work at
something that didn t come easily, such as academics. I enjoyed this poem because it makes you
think, I will now tell of a time when I lost motivation.

LOSING MOTIVATION
Two weeks ago our seventh grade English teacher gave out class a poem to read called Ex
Basketball Player by John Updike. The poem was about a young man named Flick Webb who
played basketball in high school and was very good. After Flick finished high school, he lost
motivation and quit playing. Instead of using his talents to get a good career he ended up
working at Berth s Garage. I think Flick quit playing because he did poorly in school sense he
spend most of his time p laying basketball. At this point I would like to share my story of how I
lost motivation and quit what I learned from my experience.
I was in the third grade and my friends convinced me to join Girl
Scouts. I thought it was fun for a while, but then it got boring and I lost motivation. In a couple
of months I started to dread going to the meetings so I talked with my mom about it. I told her I
didn t think it was fun anymore because I lost interest in the things we talked about and did.
There were some good things about it, like spending time with my friends and learning things
about myself. However, I figured I could do those things at school. My mom had told me I could
quit if I wanted to, so I did.
At first I thought it was good that I quit, and I was happy. Later though I

should do about 10 12 reps for the best strength outcome. From

Creators and Creations in Mary ShellyВґs Frankenstein
For the first time I felt what the duties of a creator towards his creature were and that I ought to
render him happy before I complain of his wickedness. In the light of victors Frankenstein s
comment, discuss Mary Shelly s presentation of creators and creations in Frankenstein. The
unnatural creation is seen to cause terrible foreboding. Shelly portrays the act of creating another
being to require monumental amounts of responsibility, which she shows by the structuring of the
novel. The consequences of disregarding these are seen to be profound adversities and finally death,
due to the unbreakable bond that forms between the monster and the creator.
Mary Shelly uses the deliberate structure of Frankenstein to make statements of the nature of
creation. Shelly makes uses of embedded narratives, embedding both the story of victor and
Frankenstein in Walton s letters. Using the concentric ring model, at the heart of the story is the
monster as the driving force, such as the deeper we get into the novel the more distanced we feel
from Walton and in parallel we relate to the monster on an escalating scale. This narrative distance
is used to mirror other distances in the book such as Frankenstein detaches himself from the moral
standards of humans and his family and the monster distance from humanity. This could be a
hidden warning of Mary shelly about the dangers of creation and science. In addition, Frankenstein
s creature can send

Taking place in the natural world, Samuel Coleridge s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner follows a
man and his crew through a supernatural experience induced by spiritual retribution. This man, the

temporary relief. In a sense he has become an estranged prophet following the course of his voyage
through the realms of life and death. He and his crew are tormented relentlessly after he willfully

death of the beloved creature, biblical and other supernatural themes intertwine to create a tale that

Analysis Of The Movie I Chose Silver Linings Playbook
The analysis of the movie I chose was Silver Linings Playbook. This movie was a revamping of
the publication Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick. Patrick, known as Pat throughout
the movie, Solatano, Jr. is portrayed by Bradley Cooper. Although it is unclear what is different
about Pat in the very beginning, the story soon unravels his skeletons in the closet. The opening
scene starts as Pat is being released from the Karel psychiatric facility in Baltimore. Pat was
institutionalized after he walked in on his wife and the history teacher having an affair in the
shower, blacked out, and beat the man nearly to death. He is ordered to attend therapy as part of
his plea bargain and release deal. Even though medication is almost required to treat his condition,
Pat decides it is better to change his outlook on life and find the silver linings, he even shouts his
motto excelsior meaning always upward (Excelsior dictionary definition). To me this meant,
finding the positive in every negative situation. However, even though it sounds good on the
surface, it can also be used as a crutch to fuel self delusion. Pat ends up being set up on a dinner
date in order to get over the fact that his wife has since moved. After the dinner date, Pat finds
himself spending much time with Tiffany, another main character with a mental illness, who he
enters a dance competition with and ends up falling for. This analysis will cover the symptoms

Executive Summary
Hong Kong Port, being the world busiest port for 12 years from 1992 to 2004, is globally well
known and this container port industry became one of its vital economic pillars. Such a
prosperous development began in 1970s with the boom of manufacturing business activities. The
effect on the end of close door policy of China was reflected in early 1990s due to the launching
and the rapid development of ports ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This drawn manufacturing enterprise moved from Hong Kong to backyard China at a relatively
lower cost. Therefore, Hong Kong port turns to focus on transporting container cargo; shifting
from a relay hub to a load center and enjoying its superb period till mid 1990s. The Handover in
1997 did not weaken the role of Hong Kong as a port due to the one country, two systems policy.
However, starting from 1997, the share of Hong Kong port started diminishing because of the rapid
growth of Shenzhen. According to GHK 2004, the share of Hong Kong port experienced a
significant drop from 93% in 1997 to 62% in 2003. Hong Kong port started to face the
challenges from Shenzhen and being limited by the lack of space and the relatively high
operations costs. Shenzhen, the nearest province of China from Hong Kong, has a 260km long
coastline. This coastline was separated in to East and West by Kowloon Peninsula in which the
western port area lies also in the Pearl River Region (PRD). There are altogether nine container
terminals and the major two of them are Shekou (on the West) and Yantian (on the East). In 2010,
the total containers throughput of these Shenzhen ports is 22.51 million TEUs (Shekou 9.8796
million TEUs; Yantian 10.13 million TEUs and the overall containers throughput of all ports in
China is 146 million TEUs). Geographically, both port of Hong Kong and port of

Agamemnan, The Inferno, Don Quixote Essay
Agamemnon, The Inferno, and Don Quixote may seem to be vastly different stories written across
centuries of time and within incongruous cultures but the three tales share related themes. * Set
among the ruling family of Argos, Aeschylus s Agamemnon examines the topic of justice: ancient
eye for an eye progressing toward modern disinterested justice, attributing all to the gods.
Similarly, in Dante Alighieri s Inferno each sinner is placed in a punishment to fit his crime: divine
perfection of justice. * Miguel de Cervantesapproaches the other side of justice, Don Quixote
questions what happens when an antiquated or fictional moral code is put into play in a different
time or place. * What is Justice? Aeschylus suspends justice somewhere... Show more content on

father s hand contrived. Although Aegisthus claims he is the weaver of Justice and plotted out

Chorus that [Zeus] lays it down as law that we must suffer, suffer into truth. According to them,
Justice is not meted out by man s will alone, but as a cog in the machine of the gods; a means to a
divine end. *
In the following plays, the wheel comes full circle as Agamemnon s son comes home to avenge
his death, by killing his mother Clytemnestra. Under the system in which they have labored to
this point, her death should beget the death of her son and so one SP. However, having been
killed by her son, in retribution for killing her husband, Clytemnestra s death cannot be avenged.
There is no one left to claim that responsibility. Aeschylus s gods step in and create a newer,
better system of justice to put an end to the vicious cycle. Justice is an imperfect proposition until
a higher power steps in and sets it right. Aeschylus uses several literary devices to portray the
imperfection of the old system.
Throughout the play, in many lines Aeschylus makes use of parallel structures. This device is
melodic but also symbolic of the two separate systems of Justice. Looking at the flaws of the
ancient system, the chorus says Each charge meets counter charge, and The plunderer

  • 3. Mary Rowlandson And Benjamin Franklin Every colonist that came to America had their own perceptions of its inhabitants. The majority of these people believed the Native Americans were savages because their culture differed from the colonists. To the colonists, everything needed to be proper. The way they dressed, whether or not they went to church, or how they raised their children needed to be up to code. If not, their fellow colonists looked differently at them. The natives were entirely different. Their goal was simply to survive, and they were conducting survival the best way they knew how to. The differences between the two cultures led to many severe problems. Mary Rowlandson and Benjamin Franklin had two entirely different views of the Native Americans, based upon their encounters with them. Mary Rowlandson believed the Native Americans were savage, blood thirsty creatures that were either going to kill or be killed. In her story, she supports her claim by using vivid imagery of a major event that took place during her lifetime. A very interesting quote from Rowlandson s literature is It is a solemn sight to see so many Christians lying in their blood, some here, and some there, like a company of sheep torn by wolves, all of them stripped naked by a company of hell hounds, roaring, singing, ranting, and insulting, as if they would have torn our very hearts out (Rowlandson). This quote uses an incredible amount of imagery and allows the reader to see just how Rowlandson feels about the natives. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The ships were called, Alexander, Borrowdale, Charlotte, Fishburn, Friendship, Golden Grove, Lady Penrhyn, Prince of Wales, Scarborough, HMS Sirius and HMS Supply. When America refused to take in anymore convicts, the English were forced to take the prisoners somewhere else. Due to prisons overcrowding, they were still thinking where to put all these convict. Their solution, was to put them in old, rotting prison ship known as hulks. Hulks were normally old naval ships that could not go out into sea and fight but they were still able to safely float on the water in the harbour. Once all the hulks were full with convicts, they began shipping them out to Australia because they thought that no one owns the land and was big enough to hold convicts for many years. One other reason that they moved these criminals here was because their old system was very cruel and it really disturbed the public. Their system was to chop the head off of the criminal. Due to the finding of Australia, it gave the English a new opportunity, for both the expansion of the empire and a place to keep the convicts. The bringing back of the ancient method of banishment, reduced the population stress in the Western parts of Europe by the less horrific methods in the newly identified territories. This idea of banishing the criminals was the replacement for the death sentence. The death sentence was not fully removed, as it still existed for the people who committed major crimes. There was amnesty of the death sentence for the people that committed minor crimes. What work did the convicts do on arrival to Australia? The work a convict did, was dependent on who they worked for, what skills they had and where they worked. Now we are going to look at how a convict s day went by. Rules ... • 10. The Sinking of the Titanic in Dusk to Dawn by Dr. Paul J.... The sinking of the luxurious Titanic was a traffic disaster that could have been avoided. Dr. Paul J Quinn stated in his book Dusk to Dawn The Titanic had actually been designed to carry forty eight lifeboats but was rejected because it made the deck look cluttered (11). The sinking could have been avoided if the Titanic crew had not over estimated its strength, and had listened carefully to the warnings of numerous other ships, and if the crew managed the rescue efforts into the lifeboats correctly. The Titanic held 2,200 people, yet it only held enough lifeboats for 1,100 people, which made the rescue efforts were not followed by procedure. The Titanic was originally designed to hold 48 lifeboats but the designer... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There was no consistency in loading the lifeboats because when they put them on the deck they only put them on one side of the boat. So a mans life depended on which side of the boat he was on. As the crewmembers loaded people on the rescue boats the women and childrenwere allowed to go first, but some of the crew jumped on these lifeboats as they were set off. This tragedy could have been avoided if the crew had not over estimated the largest ship in the world, built by a work force of 17,000 people. The designers and crew overlooked many details on the ship knowing that if this ship had ever sunk that they would not be ready for the rescue. The Titanic was considered unsinkable by just about everyone, including Paul Smith the captain of the boat. The crew and the builders of this ship had considered no worries about the Titanic, so they were not fully planned for this destruction (Ballard 11). The radio workers for the Titanic were not even on twenty four hour surveillance. The workers of the ship thought that they did not need them there because they thought that nothing could go wrong. There was a #8230;planned preparation rescue effort (The Titanic) that was meant for the crewmembers to go through many times. This preparation effort was only gone through one, the day before the maiden voyage. • 11. Film Analysis Of The Film 12 Angry Men This essay will explore the Oscar winning United artist film 12 Angry Men directed by Sydney Lumet; with a thorough evaluation of how successfully the narrative reflects tensions in 1950s America. 12 Angry Men is renowned for its strong linear narrative and the ability to obtain the attention of the audience with the use of only one mise en scene. The 1957 courtroom drama was established around the key theme of Politics and the battle between communism and capitalism in 1950s America; with a traditional Hollywood Narrative being sustained throughout, enabling a powerful and persuasive style. 12 angry meninitiate with an introductory scene, displaying external architecture of the New York County Courthouse which sets the scene for the rest of the film by highlighting the importance of the location. When brought inside, the audience is introduced to the 12 jurors, through a camera pan from right to left, to show their importance as they remain the key focus for the entirety of the film. With a high camera angle introduction of the main suspect, a young underprivileged Hispanic boy, whose life depends on the white men who sit before him. American society There are many nostalgic ideas of the 1950s that often create images of happiness; not far from those depicted in blockbusters such as Randal Kleiser s Grease (1959) and Walter Lang s Cheaper by the Dozen (1950). However, the reality of 1950s America was far from enjoyable. Although the 1950s was filled with consumer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Cyrogens are Great Improvements to Electrochemical Battery... Cryogens are effective thermal storage media which, when used for automotive purposes, offer significant advantages over current and proposed electrochemical battery technologies, both in performance and economy. An automotive propulsion concept is presented which utilizes liquid nitrogen as the working fluid for an open Rankine cycle. The principle of operation is like that of a steam engine, except there is no combustion involved. Liquid nitrogen is pressurized and then vaporized in a heat exchanger by the ambient temperatureof the surrounding air. The resulting high pressure nitrogen gas is fed to the engine converting pressure into mechanical power. The only exhaust is nitrogen. The usage of cryogenic fuels has significant advantage over other fuel. Also, factors such as production and storage of nitrogen and pollutants in the exhaust give advantage for the cryogenic fuels. C The importance of cars and usage also and not only the cars but also other automobile vehicle which is in the present world is increasing day by day. There are various points and terms that influence the choice of the car. This includes the efficiency, performance, fuel, pollution, emission which came during the combustion etc. As the prices of fuel (gasoline fuel, diseal ad others) are increasing and the availability and presence is decreasing we have to go for alternative choice. Action Research Literature Review Executive Summary Action Research believes that Human organizations can only be understood as whole entities (Baskerville, 1999) and that social processes are best to be studied when change is introduced to observe the effects of these. Furthermore, It makes use of a cyclical approach in order for an initial holistic understanding of a social setting. The action research literature has strongly challenged the character of positivism. It is believed that this type of research is derived from a different ontological basis; it tends to a humanistic social practice rather than a traditional natural science. Interpretivism beliefs that the world is socially constructed and subjective, that the observer is part of the what is observed and that science is driven by human interest. Furthermore, interpretivism, like action research, tries to understand what actually is happening by looking at the totality of each situation. Positivism is a research philosophy that involves working with the observable social reality. The emphasis is on highly structured methodology to facilitate replication, and the end product can be law like generalisations similar to those produced by the physical and natural scientists (Saunders, 2003). The basic beliefs are that the world can be seen as an external and objective object where the observer remains independent. The action research literature has strongly challenged the character of В‘positivist research (Waterman et al, 2001; Hart, 1996; Susman and Evered, 1978). These can be summarised as follows: В§The impossibility of achieving the assumption of objectivity in research findings and outcomes as well as the ability to control a limited number of research variables. It is an overtly religious tale that does not even reach for the subtlety of allegory. Constance depends on her religious faith for her survival throughout a number of events in the story, while those characters who do not share her Christian faith are uniformly evil, whether pagan or Muslim. The tale takes a narrow view of humanity in which Christianity represents unadulterated purity and any other religious tradition is pure evil. Also this essay will acknowledge the different aspects of one of the major topics in economics the scarce of resources and it s aspects: allocation, production, and distribution. Furthermore in this writing academic literature and articles would be used in order to defend the outcome of the discussion about government intervention in the market. Book Review Of Rodman Philbrick s Freak The Mighty Freak the Mighty Essay In the novel, Freak the Mighty, author Rodman PhilBrick wrote about a boy(Max) who had a learning disability, hated school, and was a social outcast to the rest of the world. Later in the novel Max met Kevin, a boy who had a physical disability. The two boys instantly became friends and as their friendship grew, they grew both mentally and physically. Both Kevin, who was nicknamed Freak , and Max gained a good friend when they met each other. By gaining a good friend, they changed people s lives. One way the author showed how a good friend can change one s life is by showing how different Max acted after he became friends with Freak. Another way Rodman Philbrick showed that in the novel, is by telling how Freak the Mighty, a nickname that Freak came up with for him and Max, changed how other people looked and acted towards both Max and Freak when they were together. This was shown a final time when Max and Freak the Mighty changed Freaks life. If one has a good friend by his side, then together the two friends can change lives. One way the author showed how Freak the Mighty changed people s lives in more than one way is by telling how different Max acted when he was around Freak. To do this I will first argue that airport security and the TSA are objectively ineffective and merely creates the illusion of privacy. Despite not actually protecting us, the system of airplane security, conditions individuals in the general public to be willing to make sacrifices in privacy for a perceived greater good in community safety. This viewpoint of individuals sacrificing a little privacy for the well being of society is the essentially the same nothing to hide argument that the governmentuses to justify mass surveillanceand the violation of... This is disturbingly ironic; as in an attempt to prevent us against terrorism, the TSA conveniently packs hundreds of travels together in cramped security lines, creating a clear terrorist target. Therefore, technically terrorists don t even need to get through security in order to make an attack. In 1948 the US supreme court ordered that the oligopolistic control of the majors was uncompetitive. The major studios were ordered to sell all their cinemas to allow fairer competition for films and to stop the system of block booking to allow other cinemas to negotiate for films. Rite Of Initiation In Araby By James Joyce Rite of Initiation Rite of initiation, sounds like something frightening, but in literature a rite or story of initiation does not refer precisely to something of terror. The protagonist of Araby faces experiences for which his previous experiences had not prepared him. In this case the main character enters a new stage of his life (an evolutionary stage), from childhood to adolescence. For this reason, Araby, by James Joyce, should be considered a story of initiation. The protagonist, and at the same time the narrator of this story is a child that all the experiences he has had are based on school and play with his friends. He lives in a small, quiet neighborhood, where day to day life is monotonous. This boy spends hours looking at this girl and does not understand the sensations and feelings that she causes, feelings that come to his life for the first time to make him discover love. • 32. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Karnovsky s Fixative Karnovsky s fixative is made of gluteraldehyde, paraformaldehyde, and phosphate buffer. This fixative is considered the best one used in this class, so the best results were expected when using Karnovsky s fixative. Gluteraldehyde functions similarly to formaldehyde in that it cross links effectively. However, this molecule is larger than that of formaldehyde, so it is not possible to use in paraffin embedding, because the large wax molecules would be unable to penetrate the tissue after fixation. The largest disadvantage of this exceptional fixative is the higher cost, both of the materials required for fixation, and for the required plastic embedding rather than paraffin. On the other hand, the benefits of using Karnovsky s fixative often outweigh the increased cost. The cytological preservation of tissue using this fixative is incredible, and allows for great visualization of structures under the microscope (Hopwood, 1967). This fixative can be used for electron microscopy due to this feature, and offers stunning results using less powerful microscopes as well. A further disadvantage of this fixative and embedding process is that the stains we are able to use are more limited as well. I will examine how Estella Havisham was imagined in Dickens Great Expectations and how her personality was shaped into the Victorian era. I will explore the character of Estella Havisham as a Narcissist, taking into account the works of psychoanalysts like Sigmund Freud, Lou Andreas Salome and Salvok Zizek in order to further elaborate her character as a Femme Fatale. Amid the period symbolized by the rule of British ruler Queen Victoria, women were not liable to have the right to sue, suffrage rights, or the right to own property. In the meantime, women took part in the paid workforce in expanding numbers taking after the Industrial Revolution. Feminist ideas spread among the informed female working classes, the women s suffrage movement picked up force and discriminatory laws were cancelled in the last years of the Victorian age. In the Victorian Era, women were thought as only fitting in with the domestic sphere and this stereotype obliged them to limit themselves only to their household and raising children. Alex Owen puts this Victorian ideal of woman in words as The categorisation of so called female virtues found its expression in the sentimental and idealised notion of the spiritually refined angel in the house woman as an angelic creature whose rightful sphere of influence was the home and domesticity (7). By making domesticity seem desirable to the Victorian women they used such tools in order to keep them behind doors. Owen further explains the Victorian feminine roles by pointing out, In analysing many discourses which together constituted the Victorian ideology of femininity, including the domestic literature written for, and often by, women, it becomes clear that perspective understanding was underpinned by certain major constituents. Among the most important of these was the notion of innate female passivity, a negative attribute constructed in opposition to so called masculine will power. Along with this went the concepts of female frailty, constructed in opposition to a standard masculine strength and virility; a moral and spiritual sensibility which acted as the ... • 36. Pressure Ulcers As A Hospital Upon admission to a hospital, a patient may be at risk for numerous hospital acquired conditions. Pressure ulcers, also known as pressure sores or bed sores , are a type of hospital acquired condition that may develop during a hospital admission if proper risk assessment is not performed by a registered nurse (RN). Pressure ulcers form over bony prominences, such as the back, heel, ischium, sacrum, and elbow, when circulation of these prominences is impaired (Jarvis, 2012). Pressure ulcers may develop when a person is confined to a bed or immobilized, which impedes proper delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the skinresulting in cell death (Jarvis, 2012). Pressure ulcers are divided into four stages. In stage I, a nonblanchable redness of intact skin appears that does not disappear for 24 hours after pressure is relieved. In stage II, there is partial thickness erosion of the epidermis or the dermis layer of the skin. Full thickness pressure ulcers are a stage III ulcer, which extend into subcutaneous tissue. Lastly, stage IV pressure ulcers involve all skin layers and may expose muscle, tendon or bone. Pressure ulcers can be prevented if risk assessmentis performed and at risk individuals are identified (DeLaune Ladner, 2011). Risk assessment scales, such as the Braden Scale and Norton Scale, are used to determine the likelihood of skin breakdown in a patient. One of the keys to unlocking the potential of email marketing in travel is to understand that the seasonality of email works differently to other digital channels. Moreover, this provides a great opportunity for marketers in the travel and tourism industry to keep their brand and services fresh in the minds of their target audience for even longer with some clever email marketing (Clowes, 2015). Related works Some of the recent work related to the automated test data generation is listed below: Search based approaches have been extensively applied to solve the problem of software test data generation. Yet, test data generation for object oriented programming (OOP) is challenging due to the features of OOP, e.g., abstraction, encapsulation, and visibility that prevent direct access to some parts of the source code. To address this problem Abdelilah Sakti et al. [26] have presented an automated search based software test data generation approach that achieves high code coverage for unit class testing. Turning points or critical moments in which one decision or creation forever changed the path of history. Such moments as Constantine s Edict of Milan, Gutenberg s development of the printing press, and Martin Luther s Ninety five Theses forever changed the landscape of Western Civilization. Who knows where Western Civilization would be without these great hinges of history. In 313 CE, Constantine passed the Edict of Milan. This edict declared the freedom of everyone in the Roman Empire to choose their own religion. He neither made polytheism illegal nor did he make Christianity the official religion of Rome. Instead, to placate both pagans and Christians, both were acceptable to be practiced. This edict also stated that the emperor was protected by the highest divinity, whether that was God, Jupiter or any other god in the Roman pantheon. Constantine continued his work to bring pagans and Christians into peaceful coexistence. He gave the Christians their property confiscated during Diocletian s Great Persecution, but he had the Roman treasury reimburse the people who had bought the stolen goods. He also declared the Lord s Day to be called Sunday in honor of the day the Christian s God rested and in honor of the sun, an aspect of pagan worship. He even kept the traditional title of Pontifex Maximus or chief priest. After decades of persecution the Christians finally had an emperor on their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Niemi s Argument Analysis Niemi (2011) makes the argument that there is a greater need for civics classes at an early age in order to increase political knowledge that students have in the future. The premise is that political attention and voting are habitual, and promoting these values at a young age may create a type of inertia that will carry out throughout their lives. In order to be successful, however, I would argue that simply presenting information about political events and actors would not be sufficient. Neimi makes the statement earlier that American students are struggling in mathematics and science, but then contents that simply adding more classes with have a positive effect on civics. Instead of simply adding more avenues of information for students, it makes more theoretical sense to make these classes active. Social Learning Theory (Bandura, 1977) would argue that in order to gain benefits of habitual voting, they would need to rehearse the practice of voting. Also, I will discuss the ways that the story shows how either community or connection has been lost in the story and what that means in the story. In Speech Sounds by Olivia Butler talks about how the community /connection is lost when there is a loss of language. The first example of the story shows that there is a loss of community. The passage in the story shows that the people who started the fight are not in sync with what the bus driver is trying to tell the men fighting, which is, to stop fighting. The author is trying to say in this passage that if people do not have the same goals, interests, or attitudes people will not look out for each other and this is seen throughout the story. This passage shows the loss of connection. In the middle of the story when Rye mentions that the neighbor across from her wants Rye to tend to his needs shows a loss of connection. Instead, she thought of the man who lived across the street from her. He rarely washed since his bout with the illness. And he had gotten into the habit of urinating wherever he happened to be. He had two women already one tending to each of his large gardens. They put up with him in exchange for his protection. He had made it clear that he wanted Rye to become his third women. (Butler, 572). The women and the men in this example take it that there does not need to be a community since the epidemic happened. In the light of victors Frankenstein s comment, discuss Mary Shelly s presentation of creators and creations in Frankenstein. The unnatural creation is seen to cause terrible foreboding. Shelly portrays the act of creating another being to require monumental amounts of responsibility, which she shows by the structuring of the novel. The consequences of disregarding these are seen to be profound adversities and finally death, due to the unbreakable bond that forms between the monster and the creator. Mary Shelly uses the deliberate structure of Frankenstein to make statements of the nature of creation. Shelly makes uses of embedded narratives, embedding both the story of victor and Frankenstein in Walton s letters. Using the concentric ring model, at the heart of the story is the monster as the driving force, such as the deeper we get into the novel the more distanced we feel from Walton and in parallel we relate to the monster on an escalating scale.
