Is Euthanasia Wrong
An assisted dying law would not result in more people dying, but in fewer people suffering
(Selby). Euthanasia, also known as physician assisted death is the painless killing of a patient
suffering from an incurable and painful disease or in an irreversible coma (Nordqvist). There are
many famous cases involving euthanasia. For example, on April 15, 1975, Karen Ann Quinlanlost
consciousness after mixing alcohol and the drug Valium, restricting oxygen to her brain( Karen
Ann Quinlan ). After several weeks, doctors at St. Clare s Hospital in Denville, New Jersey, say
she is in a persistent vegetative state, with irreversible brain damage ( Karen Ann Quinlan ). In
August, her parents asked doctors to remove their daughter s respirator. This was the first case of
physician assisted death. Another right to die case involved Terri Schiavo. In February of 1990,at
the age of 26, Terri Schiavo collapsed at home and oxygen was cut off to her brain for several
minutes (Lynne). More recently,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All doctors take an oath known as the Hippocratic Oath at the beginning of their career stating
that they will do whatever they can for a patient in order to help them, but helping is not always
keeping them alive. Ending a person s life upon request with a purposeful goal is hardly a
malicious act, therefore it is inaccurate to compare euthanasia to murder (Starks et al.). Another
issue that many people see in physician assisted death is that it gives doctors too much power.
However, the only power that it gives them is to fulfill someone s final wishes. Another valid
point is that vital organs can be saved. There is a long list of people that are in need of a kidney,
lung, heart, and liver transplant. However, with physician assisted death the organs can be
preserved and be transplanted to someone who has been long waiting for a transplant (Messerli).
Once again, we have to put the needs of the living before the

General Motors Company is an American global auto manufacturer with its headquarters in Detroit,
Michigan. It is world s second largest automaker after Toyota. GM is conducting business in more
than 157 countries, employing over 209,000 people. It manufacture cars and trucks in 31 countries

It was part of their Global Strategy as Cruze was General Motor s first global small car.
According to Chevrolet European Chief it is sleek, it has a high tech interior and arched roofline
and most importantly it was Chevrolet s first global product that would be the future of where the
brand will be.
Before launching the Cruze, General Motor had been trying very hard for many years to make
Chevrolet as its main global brand. This is because they are very different from their main
competitors i.e., Honda and Toyota, General Motor has a huge brand portfolio in different
countries. For example, Chevrolet dominates in US, Opel in Europe and Buick in China. They
also took over Daewoo in South Korea in 2002 and after rebranding some of their models GM
started selling them in Asia and Europe under the name of Chevrolet.
There was a huge strategy of GM behind launching Cruze. With a brand new design, Cruze was
launched when GM needed the most. The major reason behind it was there was a huge downfall
in the auto sales of GM in US. That is why GM planned to launch a global product that would help
them to recover losses that they suffered.
RISKS INVOLVED:
Besides a vision to gain profit there were some risks involved as well with the launch of Cruze.
The first risk was tough competition from the rivals and another was low fuel economy. Cruze
was expected to give a fuel economy of around 40 plus miles per gallon which was good enough

The Dead By James Joyce Essay
James Joyce emerged as a radical new narrative writer in modern times. Joyce conveyed this new
writing style through his stylistic devices such as the stream of consciousness, and a complex set
of mythic parallels and literary parodies. This mythic parallel is called an epiphany. The Dead by
Joyce was written as a part of Joyce s collection called The Dubliners. Joyce s influence behind
writing the short story was all around him. The growing nationalist Irish movement around Dublin,
Ireland greatly influences Joyce s inspiration for writing The Dubliners . Joyce attempted to create
an original portrayal of Irish middle class life in and around Dublin at the end of the 19th century
and beginning of the 20th century. The historical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the idea of stream of consciousness he captured his characters arbitrary manners including
their thoughts and feelings. This allowed Joyce s writing to be more understandable and
convincing then previous writers. Joyce s writing technique with the use of the epiphany, religious
symbolism, and stream of consciousness gave the reader access to a deeper understanding of
human experience by using subconscious associations along with the conscious thoughts of
narrative for his characters. All of these literary elements are portrayed in Joyce s The Dead . His
story depicts aspects of everyday life in the Irish capital of Dublin. Joyce portrays the
parochialism and piety as well as the repressive conventions of everyday life. Joyce s characters
dream of a better life against a dismal and impoverishing background where the cumulative
effects of life are full of despair and hopelessness. Through Joyce s modernist approach to
narrating he uses a structure of symbolic meanings and revelatory moments called epiphanies .
Joyce viewed Dublin as the Centre of Paralysis in Ireland (Puchner, Martin 177). Joyce viewed
Dublin as a city of blunted hopes and dreams that were lost in the sea of misery. A city Joyce
viewed that was filled with poor who were desperate to move out of the slums that they spent their
entire lives living in. Dublin s population was constantly growing and not enough jobs

A Study On Admiralty Law And Maritime Law
UNIT 1: INTRODUCTION 1.1 ABOUT SUBJECT: Admiralty Law or Maritime Law is a distinct
body of domestic laws that supervene upon the maritime activities (like marine commerce, sailors
related aspects, marine navigation, marine shipping, marine salvaging and transportation of
passengers and goods by sea). It has also been governing questions and offenses related to
maritime activities and other sub heads. Broadly, it is a more of a private international law related
subject that governs the relationship between private entities that operate vessels on the oceans.
Keeping in view the distinction with respect to the subject matters of Public and Private
international law, it is mandatory to specify the distinction between The Law of the Seas and The
admiralty law and the chapters succeeding will be a great source to enlighten the same. 1.2
HISTORY: The series that started with The Law of Prize as the governing Customary Law. Then
came the the cannon shot rule that was developed by the Dutch Jurist (Cornelius van Bynkershoek),
which talked about the limited National Rights granted to a specified belt of water extending
from a nation s coastlines that was usually 3 nautical miles (i.e., 5.6 km or Three mile), it was so
that all waters beyond national boundaries were considered international waters (i.e., free to all
nations but belonging to none of them). Later there emerged the conflict between Bourbon and
Hapsbury which was settled in 1648 through the peace of

Behavior Change Project Examples
I chose to do my behavior change project on improving my diet. I put my own little twist on it
with the way I measured my success and I had to supplement it to reach my goals, but I feel that it
was done really well. My goal was at the end of the four weeks to be able to run 3.1 miles in 18:45.
I have run times close to this before, but that was a couple of years ago. At the beginning of this
project my time for 3.1 miles was 20:36. I knew that if I was committed and worked really hard that
I would be able to do it though. I chose to measure my behavior change this way due to the fact that
I have a very busy life and I am on the high school cross country team. I figured I would already be
running each week and I have a raceevery week that I can measure my time against my goal. So I
was just trying to save some time in my schedule by partially combining two activities. My goal for
the end of the first week was to be able to run 3.1 miles in 20:00. I... Show more content on

The problem that I referred to when talking about my difficulties in week one, was the surprise
trip. My dad decided this year that he wanted to go the annual air race championships in Reno,
Nevada. I was not expecting this to fall in the middle of behavior change project. This trip made
it really easy to get the three miles in and hard to get the healthy meals in. Since we were trying
to avoid spending too much money we were just eating at small diners and fair type food that
were close by. I tried to mitigate the damage by ordering the healthiest alternative that I could find,
but that did not always work. The other unforeseen difficulty was the addition of a new vending
machine at my school. It is right in the main hallway and full of only unhealthy options. I dealt
with this by not bringing any small bills to school. This allowed me to walk past it without the
ability thereby removing the

Bulimia In America
Today in the United States over thirty million Americans suffer from an eating disorder. Of
those thirty million, only three million will ever receive proper treatment. Some doctors will
call any eating disorder Anorexia when really it could be Bulimia or another eating disorder.

people may receive proper treatment. Anorexia and Bulimia are both very serious eating disorders
with many differences and similarities including causes, symptoms, and treatments. Anorexia is an
emotional disorder characterized by an obsessive desire to lose weight by refusing to eat.

Literary Interpretation In Kich By Carolyn Kizer s Bitch
Carolyn Kizer s Bitch is describing the unnamed woman s feelings towards an ex lover from an
unspecified time in the past, which she has just encountered. The woman was extremely hurt by
the ex and has a lot of anger deep inside towards this person, but does not want to demonstrate it.
The main image is the speaker and the ex lover running into one another and catching up. Now,
when he and I meet, after all these years, I say to the bitch in me, don t start growling. (Kizer
1,2). The tone of the poem is angry, sad, and reflects a relationship where she was hurt and misses
the other person. The woman tries to control her inner feelings when she encounters the man,
concealing her true feelings with polite conversation. Just by the tone of her inner feelings, you
can see the woman thinks the man from her past caused her harm. The woman of Carolyn Kizer s
Bitch provides a satiric interpretation of a typical meeting between her and an ex lover since the
end of their relationship. In a single, thirty four line stanza, the woman participates in a witty
monologue that displays a ideally ironic division: the woman s two coinciding but opposite
interchanges, one entailing of the woman s external conversation with her former lover and the
other of silent warnings, threats, and clarifications to her inner self, represented in the poem as a
bitch. The speaker is camouflaging compelling emotions with external civility. While the hiding of
true feelings is an everyday

Differences Between Emily Dickinson And Bukowski
Bukowski was influenced by many writers before and around his time as he was published in
the mid to late nineties. Those who influenced him include Albert Camus, E. E. Cummings, John
Fante, Henry Miller, and some will argue Emily Dickinson. Both writers, Dickinson and
Bukowski, touch upon death, writing from their graves, and saving the world through the
sincerity of one person. Dickinson s poem If I can stop one heart from breaking mirrors one of
Bukowski s most famous quotes You begin saving the world by saving one person at a time; all
else is grandiose romanticism or politics. His simple of idea that universal peace begins with one
soul mimics the message in Dickinson s verse.
If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain (Dickinson).
Words synonymous with each other not only shows the similarity in writing topics, but also in the
thought process for both writers. Both their moral compasses lead to the same conclusion, whether
it is a thought they act on or simply have. The similarities between these two go one further in their
darker poetry. Emily Dickinson famously writes many poems about death and dying as does
Charles Bukowski. Two poems of theirs are particularly similar. Bukowski s Alone with
Everybody delivers a similar message about death as Dickinson s Because I could not stop for death

Racial Barriers In America
Americans are constantly bombarded by depictions of race relations in the media, which suggest
that discriminatory racial barriers have been dismantled. (Gallagher). We as a society in America
think that everything is over that discrimination is done with. Race is something that is inevitable,
but how we decide to perceive it is our choice, we see it as something not important and that race
does not matter for a long time. So why are Indians to this day segregated from everyone else in
reservations. With separate government still living within the United States, because they were seen
as savages and not as humans. And why did the Irish and Japanese work so hard to become
Americans. They wanted to look or at least be treated like white people

Tuesdays essay
Once you learn how to die ,you learn how to live ,this quote sums up most of the lesion Morrie
is trying to teach the readers. let me start from the beginning Mitch is telling us a story about his
old professor that has been diagnosed with ALS.It s a disease when your body shuts down slowly
. Morrie is teaching us how to live life in better ways before it s too late. The three most important
aphorisms is family,importence,memories.
To begin the first important aphorism that Morrie teaches Mitch is that Even though someone is
dying it s not gonna ruin the relationship it might make them closer. One example that Morrie states
is Death ends a life not a relationship (174). This is saying that even when Morrie dies Mitch and
his bond or relationship still lives on the memories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example from the text that morrie says There is no experience like kids and i would do it all
again (94). This quote is saying that kids are a wonderful thing when the time is right to have them
and u should give them the best life you can. One other quote i found was there is no better feeling
than having a child and the love they share (96). This quote is say there is something different
about the love for your child a love that s stronger than anyone else.
The last aphorism is once you learn how to die ,you will learn how to live. One example i got that
ties into the subject was without love, we are birds with broken wing (92). This example is
explaining that we are hopeless if we don t have long a bird can t fly if his wings are broken ,and
that s what birds do the most they can t survive. The last evidence is have is As i see it they have
to do with, love, responsibility, spirituality, and awareness (175).This is explaining the things Morrie
should have realized before he was dying

Trinity College Exam Hall Classical
Classical architecture is a language that speaks to us with antiquity. The Exam Hall, once Theatre,
on the campus of Trinity College Dublin can be viewed as a neo classical building, built during
the Georgian era. Neo classical architecture is the revival of Greek and Roman classicism that took
place in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. This revival of architecture as James Adams, a
famous English architect said, was ready to seize with some degree of success, the beautiful spirit
of antiquity, which is quintessentially seen in the Exam Hall. The exterior of the Exam Hall
displays classical semblances of the Roman Corinthian Orderwhile the interior is decorated using a

In comparing the Exam Hall to renowned neo classical buildings we can deduce that we are
rightful in describing Trinity College Dublin s Exam Hall as being classical . Chamber s classical
style shined in much of his work, specifically the exam hall. Trinity Colleges Exam Hall can be
described as classical because it is built following the guidelines of Corinthian Order. During the
period of classical architecture the Greeks founded the original three orders Doric, Ionic, and
Corinthian different classical styles of building that followed certain rules and mathematical ratios.
The Romans adopted these orders and made them their own. Roman Corinthian Order is the style of
the Exam Hall. The most distinctive element is the columns, which support an entablature. The
Exam Halls columns contain smooth unfluted shafts made from Portland Stone, a highly sought
after stone at the time. The column capital is ornate as all classical capitals are. The capital is
decorated with acanthus leaves and small volutes. There is also a fleuron in the center of the
abacus, which lie atop the column capital. The capitals are also made of Portland stone. The
entablature, being held up by the columns, contains three discrete elements that are classical in
architecture. The Exam Hall exemplifies all three of these elements. The architrave and frieze are
found to be smooth while the cornice contains dentils,

The U.S. government used the Treaty of New Echota in 1835 to justify the removal ( A Brief
History of the Trail of Tears). The Cherokee were forced on a journey from their previous
villages into Tahlequah, Oklahoma to start a new life. This journey became known as the Trail of
Tears. They died of hunger, disease, dehydration, and exhaustion ( The Trail of Tears ). Life after
the trail of tears was challenging at first because the tribe lost over 4,000 of its members during the
journey. Once the Cherokees reached Oklahoma, the government still was not very friendly to
them. The government contractor gave them some food, but it was contaminated with insects. The
government was focused on enhancing their profit and did not care about the well being and
welfare of the Cherokee (Ojibwa, The Cherokee After Removal ). There are several events that
effected the Cherokee Indians. In the late 1780s, The United States government wanted the
Cherokee Indians to stop hunting and learn to farm. The United States government wanted to
civilize the Cherokee Indians by encouraging them to change their current lifestyle and begin
living like the Christian Americans ( Indian Removal Timeline ). On March 27, 1814, The
Cherokee Indians fought in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend. Andrew Jackson assembled a force of

Summer Is Hot On The Heels Of Spring
Summer is hot on the heels of Spring in spite of the roller coaster weather pattern some of us
seem to be in right now. Trust me, before we know it we ll be complaining about the scorching
heat and oppressive humidity and wishing we could have just a day or two of those milder
temperatures once in a while. Anyway, with summertime comes the decidedly American tradition
of cookingout. Cooking out is one of my favorite Summer activities. What a great way to kill
three birds with one stone. First and most obvious we all need to eat, even though some of us
(myself included) could stand to eat a little less. So why not cook out? I don t know about you, but
for me there s something almost magical about eating foodthat s been cooked on a charcoal grill. It
just seems to taste better. Maybe it s an association thing like turkey at Thanksgiving and
Christmas, ham at Easter, cake on your birthday, liquor on New Years Eve OK, maybe we
shouldn t go there. For my wife there s magic in the idea of her not having to cook. She s always
up for letting me do the cooking! Let s move on, shall we? Second, cooking out can help reduce
energy consumption. Think about it. If you re cooking outside you re not heating up the house with
the range and/or oven going while simultaneously running the air conditioner to cool the house
down. That should make Al Gore and the Inconvenient Truth crowd happy. On the other hand, they
probably wouldn t appreciate the idea of burning charcoal

White House Construction
In order for Alexander Hamilton to get his assumption bill passed, he, James Madison, and
Thomas Jefferson made a deal known as the Compromise of 1790 which gave Hamilton the votes
he needed to pass his bill and Jefferson and Madison obtained the nation s capitol for the South and
this is where the White Housewould later be built. Before construction of the White House,
though, the President lived in the President s House in Philadelphia which was built in 1767 and
served originally as home to the Penn family, who founded Pennsylvania, and it was probably the
largest home in all of Philadelphia. This is where Washington spent his presidency and also where
Adams spent the first 18 months of his presidency before moving to the White House. The
architect who designed the White House was Pierre Charles L Enfant in 1791 while designing the

has faced many changes over the years, one of the most important renovations being the Truman

For John, the preparedness of the church is synonymous with the righteous activity of her
saints. In addition to the church s call to active participation as the partner of Christ in righteous
action in the world, the text takes a subtle yet critical turn toward a Eucharistic theology, as John
references the invitation to the marriage supper of the Lamb a point that will be discussed in
greater detail at a later juncture. While the word church is not directly mentioned in the
pericope, it must be noted that other biblical texts such as 2 Corinthians 11:2 3 and Ephesians 5:
25 27 lend support to the notion of the church as Christ s bride. As the narrative develops John
takes great care to remind his reader that the revelation that he receives comes as a result of an
angelic encounter. Toward the end of the pericope, the angel with whom John speaks, seems to
confirm that what John experiences has come from God as evidenced by the statement These are
true words of God. Revelation 19:9. This affirmation is significant primarily because John writes
while in exile on the island of Patmos. The vision that John receives and records suggests that he
has not been exiled from the presence of God and God s prophetic use. What

The Crucible Mass Hysteria Essay
Mass hysteria is a phenomenon that transmits collective allusions of threats through a population
in society as a result of rumors and fear. The Crucible by Arthur Miller accurately portrays mass
hysteria that took place during the Salem witch trials of 1692. People were accused based on
revenge or other malicious motives and to make the situation worse, nothing about the trials was
logical. After a few people were accused, fear set into the town and everyone was viewed as a
witch until proven innocent. Mass hysteria not only happened during the Salemwitch trials, but
right after the Twin Towers fell on September 11, 2001 as well. Mass hysteria ties into both the
accusations made in The Crucible and the islamophobia that set in after 9/11. The terrified and

A short term effect caused by mass hysteria were hate crimes towards people of the Islamic faith.
According to the FBI, anti Islamic hate crimes spiked by 1,600 percent with 481 incidents during
2001. Another major change was the increase in airport security. A month after 9/11 the Transport

to create traveling by plane more safe: more specific ID is required, shoes must be removed at
checkpoint, all baggage must be screened, no liquids above 3.4 ounces are allowed past the

The Mission Of Carbon Offsets
Our Mission The mission of Carbon Offsets To Alleviate Poverty (COTAP) is to empower
individuals and organizations in developed countries to address both climate change and global
poverty. COTAP counteracts your carbon emissions through certified forestry projects in least
developed regions which create transparent, accountable, and life changing earnings for rural
farming communities where income levels are less than $2 per day. The Problem In developing
regions around the world, hundreds of millions of people live in rural areas on less than $2 per
day. This level of poverty forces communities to make hard choices between food, health care,
and education. It is the poverty level where an estimated 11 million children die every year. Many
of these communities are not fits for traditional microfinance, which tends to be primarily urban,
and significant portions of their land are not suitable for agriculture. While there are many
promising technical innovations and development programs which can increase crop yields, there
remains a geographic limitation on markets where such increased yields can be sold. The result is
that there are farming communities all over the world who could be made much less economically
vulnerable if there were a way to generate significant supplemental income from non crop land
usage which did not rely on physical distribution. The proven potential of small scale forestry

The Sun Also Rises Relationships
Love and friendship are a major theme in the course of the book, The Sun Also Rises by Ernest
Hemingway. As an expatriate himself, Hemmingway paints a realistic picture of life in 1920s
Paris, France through his protagonist Jake Barnes. To show the importance of his characters, the
lost generation, Hemingway writes of Jake and his friends, the places he visits, and the events he
enjoys. Due to postwar times, the relationships between Jake and his lover Brett, his friend Bill,
and antagonist Robert enhance the plot and do not represent the typical healthy relationships. The
type of love portrayed between Jake and Brett is not the typical fairy tale story due to the
disillusioned state of the characters in a self indulgent time. The war affected

Allegories In Dante Alighieri
About everything in life has a deeper meaning and it can be found with just a touch of creativity.
But the ability to construct the meaning into literature takes so much more talent. That s where the
average authors get weeded out from the great. Dante Alighieri is one of these great authors and it
shows in his writing. He uses an abundance of allegories throughout his books making the reader
overthink every word. In his book Inferno, Dante Alighieridescriptively crafts three allegories of
Francesca, the city of Florence, and Dante s journey to incorporate hidden symbolism and meaning
submerged underneath the cover story of Dante s version of Hell.
Every once in a while it s necessary to take a step back, evaluate your life, and look at the bigger
picture, which is what Dante did when he toured Hell. Dante Alighieri makes it obvious that
Florence is Dante s Hell on earth by the way he incorporates all the negativity. Dante Alighieri s
description of Florence leaves the readers to believe the city is in political ruins. There are so
many sinners living there and Dante shows this when he says, But tell me, if you can, where
they ll all end,/ the citizens of that divided town?/ Is there amongst them any honest man?
(Alighieri 51) to paint a picture of how he views Florence. The beginning of the quote allows the
readers to interpret that Dante doesn t have much confidence that they will go to heaven, rather
he suggests that because of this indecisiveness that they will later be found in Hell. He used the
word divided to show that there is a big controversy, which split the city of Florence, as he
explains in the quote. The second sentence flat out states that he doesn t believe that there is a
single honest man left and this is shown because of how he punctuates the end of the sentence
with a question mark. This proves that Dante considers Florence as Hell because of all the sinners
there. If he doesn t think he could find a single innocent person there, then it is basically equivalent
to Hell, which Dante doesn t want to live in. All the depreciation of Florence shows that Dante
doesn t want to live there and considers the city the trail that s directly feeding sinners to Hell.

Obstacles In The Grapes Of Wrath
The Grapes of Wrath gives an in depth reality to how life should be lived even with the obstacles
you overcome. This is explained in the novel through the Joad family. The Joad family consists of
a weak family that is about to lose their land in Oklahoma. There was no work for them in their
home state due to the Great Depressionand Dust Bowl. This leads them to take a chance and
journey to California for work. Although, they overcome many obstacles they learn new skills
and strengthen their family. The story takes place in the 1930 s in the states of Oklahoma and
California. At this time the United States is under a Great Depression and some states are
experiencing a great drought, most commonly known as the Dust Bowl. Citizens experienced
great struggles that no one should ever go through. Some of these include: no food, no income, no
shelter or eviction, death and loss of loved ones. Banks breathe profits; they eat interest on money.

Bartleby The Scrivener Charity
In Bartleby, The Scrivener by Herman Melville, the author uses charity as a general theme for
the lawyer to sympathize with Bartleby. Melville portrayed this theme of charity in the story
because when his father s fur trade wasn t successful, then later died, his family was left with his
debt. His brothers and he took over his business to try to provide for his family. With this family
background Melville was able to relate his story to life experiences and thoughts upon charity. In
the story, the lawyer has 4 workers; Turkey, Nippers, Ginger Nut, and Bartleby. Ginger Nut was
everyone s errand boy. He was young and naГЇve and did not understand much because of that.
Turkey and Nippers were not the most cooperative workers. Turkey was... Show more content on

Charity can also be portrayed in many ways. The lawyer accepts the fact that Bartleby would say
I would rather not instead of firing him when he first says it. It would appear that he was given
special treatment by the lawyer because he was not fired for his actions. The lawyer talks about
Bartleby compassionately and sympathetically because he would not be useful to another boss
other than himself. He felt that he needed to take care of him because if he fired him then
Bartleby would have a hard time surviving. People would not want to hire him because he has a
disability, which distanced himself from others. The lawyer says, Poor fellow, poor fellow!
thought I, he don t mean any thing; and besides, he has seen hard times, and ought to be
indulged (Melville, 19). This direct quote supports the theme of charity. The lawyer is talking
about Bartleby and is sympathizing with the fact that he has had hard times in his life. This
could be a connection to how Melville feels because of his past. Melville did not have an easy
childhood because his brothers and he had to grow up quickly once their father died and take
over the family business. The lawyer clearly is fond of Bartleby. When the lawyer realizes that
Bartleby has become a problem, he moves his office to a different location instead of kicking him
out. This way Bartleby

Creon A Tragic Hero In Antigone
Antigone: a Tragic Hero In Sophocles play Antigone, there are two possible tragic heroes, Creon
and Antigone. A tragic hero is a character who is noble, has one or many unfixable flaws, and
experiences a downfall. While Creon could be considered, he is nowhere near as noble as
Antigone, who lives by the law of the gods and dies for the dignity of her brother. His disposition
is far from flawless, but he does not experience a downfall comparable to Antigone s death.
Antigone portrays all the components of a tragic hero; thus, she is the true tragic hero of Antigone.
Nobility is expressed through many facets of Antigone s personality. She does what she believes is

Diarrheal Research Paper
Diarrheal is an intestinal disorder in which an individual is induced to frequently release fecal.
This consistent fluid loss leads to dehydration and nutrient loss. If an individual is not able to
replace the loss in due amount of time, this can eventually lead to death. Nevertheless, although it
may seem diarrheal (the constant release of fecal) is the cause of painful effects, it is not. Rather
diarrhea is a mechanism the body uses to get rid of the harmful bacteria(pathogen) inside the body.
The pathogen is typically presented in the water and food one consumes, and is injected in the
body. This infection known as amoebiasis is most prevalent in developing countries, because water

Abraham Lincoln and the Emancipation Proclamation Essay
On January 1, 1863, the Emancipation Proclamation was delivered by Abraham Lincoln. This
bold and progressive move by the President declared that all persons held as slaves within any
State or designated part of a State, the people whereof shall then be in rebellion against the United
States, shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free (The Library of Congress, 2014). While
Lincoln now harbors the fame for ending slavery, his proclamation initially only ended slavery in
those states that attempted to separate from the union. The proclamation authorized the recruitment
of former slaves into the Union Armies and promoted the eventual creation of a Union without
slavery. It was this strategic use of the legal system that allowed... Show more content on

Poorly clothed, homeless and malnourished, the newly freed slaves were exposed to many
diseases. Yellow fever, dysentery and other diseases killed off approximatley1 million former

lynched, beaten or worked to death by former slave owners or by Klansmen. Additionally, this

Many runaway slaves perusing freedom enlisted in the Union army to protect themselves and their

The Effects Of Diversity On Hollywood And One Of The Most...
There has been many controversies about the lack of diversity in Hollywood and one of the
most recent one was the 2016 Oscars. The Oscars is an award show that showcase the best
people in front and behind the camera. Unfortunately there was barely any diversity in the
nominations this year since most nominators were white, even though there was many diverse
films that were considered Oscar worthy. With that being said, people protested that there needs
to be more diversity in these categories and some actors agreeing by using the hashtag
#OscarsSoWhite in social media. To make things worse, the Academy Awards members are
majority older white males which brought to the attention from the protesters that in order to
have diversity into the awards, the members itself needs to represent of all races so, it can be
considered a fair choice. Which make sense to why throughout history of the Oscars there was
always a discrepancy of diversity in the nominations since 1929 because only a very small
percentage of minorities actors have received an award compared to the white actors that
dominated the Oscars with a high percentage of winners. This created tension in Hollywood that
the Oscars are marginalizing itself as a all white program and that there needs to be changes. When
the nominations were being announced for the 2016 Oscars, many were surprised of the lack of
diversity and the films that were snubbed. One in particular would be Beast of No Nation, which

Gender Advertisements Erving Goffman Summary
As well as feeding off of the sources and material presented earlier in this paper, the analysis to
come will also use Erving Goffman s categorisation of gender to analyse how the women (and
some men) are depicted on the front covers of Playboy and Good Housekeeping within said
timeframe. In his study GenderAdvertisements (Goffman, 1985), Goffman gathered hundreds of
advertisements from magazines in various positions and poses and analysed poses and how they
portrayed masculinity versus femininity. His way of analysing advertisement differentiates itself
and makes a broader distinction of what is considered sexist or not, by showing much like the
Heterosexual Script earlier on in the paper, what was considered appropriate roles for men and
women.
In Goffman s analysis of advertisements he suggests several variables used when analysing a
depiction of both men and women. Relative size suggests women are often positioned lower than a
man, both in height and size, which can often also propose they are lower in both physical and
social standard. Feminine touch shows women carefully caressing an object, or even themselves by
touch. Showing a clear distinction between the utilitarian grip men usually have, and the decorative
touch women more often have. Function Ranking is when there is often both a man and a woman,
and at first glance they might seem to be executing a function, but at a closer look the woman is
again more of a decorative part of the picture, looking at

The Issue Of The Environment And Globalisation
The past few centuries have seen such a drastic change in the world in terms of human activities
that it has resulted in an enormously significant change in our planet. For a better understanding,
the process which brings all people and communities across the globe come together to experience
a progressively universal economic, social and cultural environment is called globalisation. Thus,
by definition, the process of globalisation affects everybody throughout the world and also has a
significant impact on the environment. As said by James Arvanitakis (Arvanitakis p.166), the issue
of the environment and globalisation is the most pressing issue facing the world today .
Globalisation is thought to be a major cause behind change of climatethat is experienced currently
in the world. However, there are those who support and agree with the notion that climate change
actually poses a global risk and those who do not agree with it. The debate on the extent of climate
change being a global risk, which is called climate change science, is one that is of high interest for
various groups in Australia who either agree with the view or disagree with it for their own reasons
and each one has their own arguments regarding the subject. Global climate change is part of the
larger Anthropocene syndrome of human induced global environmental changes. These include
land degradation, ocean acidification, and disruptions and depletions of the stratospheric ozone

via channels they understand because they are imbedded within that asset. Along those same lines
a liaison can potentially provide a direct military force to solve a problem when it is within their
home country. So instead of just providing intelligence support they could also provide operational
support as long as those lines of communication and understanding are in place. Potentially the
most beneficial advantage to cooperation is that of providing a viable cover to mask U.S. actions
or interests as local ones and concealing otherwise apparent U.S. behavior in foreign countries.
There are also disadvantages to foreign intelligence relationships and liaisons which the United
States must maintain a state of vigilance on (Rosenbach and Peritz, 2009). First the U.S. needs to
be aware of the potential for conflicting interests. Relationships with adversaries could potentially
provide them with sensitive information about interests, strategies, plans, or tactics critical to the
U.S. This leads into hostile collection and the fact that liaisons or foreign partners may attempt to
leverage their status in an effort to gain insight into United States intentions and or sources and
methods. So as the U.S. is collecting in a foreign partner s back yard this could tip them off to
sensitive strategies being utilized.
Beyond those disadvantages there is the hurdle that different countries have different standards and
capabilities. An international partner may have less rigorous

The evangelicalism movement dates to the eighteenth century and is the earliest movement of the
three movements. Evangelicalism originally took place in Britain and the British colonies and is
connected to Puritanism and Pietism. Those who are in accordance with the beliefs ... Show more

I believe it is possible to be in a Christian community where the believers in it come from one or a
mix of any of the three movements. From being raised in a Christian household, I have an
understanding of the various views on the authority of scripture. After doing further research
and writing this paper I have a deeper understanding of the authority and nature of scripture. I
know the word of God is not just based on the inspiration of God, but that it is God breathed and
infallible. Having knowledge of that fact can help me when sharing scripture and what I have
learned with the people out in the world. It is also important for us to not hold scripture above
God, but instead use it to lead people to God through the scriptures. Reading about
evangelicalism reminds me that we as children of God have a duty to be missionaries in our
communities to help evangelize the world. God is counting on us to help grow his garden of
souls. God is counting on us to plant the seed in someone who does not know or believe. With the
help of God through the Holy Spirit the sharing of His Word should come easily and we must
always remember that all things are possible through Christ. I will take the knowledge of the
scripture I have gained and

Why Carter Center Won The Nobel Peace Prize
Nobel Peace Prize What would you do if your entire nation is being ravaged by a disease that you
don t know how to treat? That s where The Carter Center stepped in to aid struggling families in
Africa. Led by former president Jimmy Carter and his wife, they were able to bring cures to
villages that have none. Some people may say that the Carters just want to gain media attention
but I will prove that is not the case. The purpose of this essay is to show why I believe the Carter
Center should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
The first reason why The Carter Center should win the Nobel Peace prize is they assist people in
thousands of villages with diseases that don t have a cure in their country. The biggest epidemic
that the Carter Center was involved in was the Guinea worm disease. In just one years time the
Center reduced the disease by a whopping 99 percent! That number decreased from 3.5 million to
less then 11,000. Since the Center has many people to help throughout the world, they teach the
people who are at the center of the disease to cure it themselves. To do this, the Carter Center train
volunteers within the thousands of villages who are the main reason the diseases are cured.
However, this not the only reason the Carter Center should win the Nobel Peace Prize. ... Show

To cure Guinea worm they took an extremely low tech approach. One of the main ways they
stopped the disease was to keep people from drinking contaminated water. They built wells,
treated water to kill fleas, and also filtered water. The simplest way they destroyed the disease
was by handing out pipe filters. Pipe filters are small portable water purification plants that look
like a piece of jewelry. It has a fine screen at the bottom that filters out fleas making any water
source safe to drink. What more could they have done to help those

Survival In The Novel Hatchet By Gary Paulsen
Survival. That was Brian s only mindset in Gary Paulsen s novel, Hatchet. Brian is a thirteen
year old city boy who goes to visit his father in the Canadian wilderness for the summer. Midway
through the flight, the pilot began jerking uncontrollably and by the time he stopped, he was lying
dead. Brian, after the mysterious death of the pilot, is forced to pilot a plane alone. He manages to
crash land in the Canadian forest, but now he has another problem. Survival. Brian now has to learn
how to live again.
Gary Paulsen wrote this adventurous, action packed book based off of many of his own real life
experiences. Most of the situations Brian goes through, Paulsen went through himself. This allows
Paulsen to write with astonishing

Post American World Essay
Fareed Zakaria Post American World Book Review Few would disagree that the previous U.S.
administration of George W. Bush Jr. plunged America s international reputation to an all time
low. Even as the country staggers to recover international goodwill under President Barack
Obama, a homegrown credit crisis, captured most strikingly in the collapse of several iconic
institutions of American industry like Citigroup and General Motors, has brought the U.S.
economy to a standstill. Few would doubt that America will eventually recover from both crises.
Be that as it may, the unipolar moment, centered on the preeminence of American power, purse,
and presence may well and truly be over, or so we are often told. What powers will take the place...

This new global order, Fareed is quick to remind, has in fact proven remarkably peaceful. While a
conclusion that would perhaps be initially met with raised eyebrows, Fareed proceeds to explain
this in a manner that makes eminent sense. For instance, he argues that Islamic threat is overrated
and that the struggle between governments and terrorists will persist, but with the former holding
the upper hand. For instance, he explains, Al Qaeda may have been a movement out to rally the
entire Muslim world to jihad against the West, but the many variations within Islam undermine its
ability to merge into a single monolithic force. He goes on to suggest that ideological watchdogs
have focused so much on jihad rhetoric that they have ceased to take into account the actual Muslim
societies which are frustrated with the fundamentalists, wish for modernity (that allows for dignity
and cultural pride), and pursue practical solutions not martyrdom. Equally telling is his explanation
for this artificial and unnecessary state of paranoia we live in. The problem, to him, lies in the
mismatch between people s perception and fear of the danger (i.e. war, terrorism, organized
violence) that allegedly surrounds them, and the actual reality. This, he argues, can be partly
attributed to

Timeless And Timelessness In Literature
One theme in literature, and British literature alike, is timelessness. Many pieces that are famous
have been passed down through generations and readers all over the world still relate to it through
love or comedy. Two works that capture timelessness and universality are A Valediction: Forbidding
Mourning written by John Donne and Much Ado About Nothing written by William Shakespeare.
What often draws people to literature is raw emotion. A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning perfectly
fits the raw emotion and timelessness with true love. This poem by John Donne captivates readers
imaginations through his idea of love extending past death and the eternal love of two people.
Love songs and love stories endure time because they are always relevant because love is
always relevant. Donne s poem can be used in a variety of situations and has endured because of
the sweetness and vulnerability of it. Donne writes, Thy firmness makes my circle just, / And
makes me end where I begun, (Donne 35 36). These lines are one part of a conceit that likens his
and his wife s love to a compass and that she completes him. If people are in love, romantic
gestures and nice words can make the love grow stronger, so the message of Donne continues to be
passed on through people in love. Poems like this make hearts swell and, on the education side, use
many aspects of figurative language. A Valediction continues being taught because of the beautiful
use of language and metaphors and how Donne

The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe, And Adolf Hitler
The White Witch or The Queen Of Narnia from C.S. Lewis book The Lion, the Witch, and the
Wardrobe, and Adolf Hitler, the old dictator of Germany are similar in many ways. The first trait
they share is cunningness, the second is evilness, and the last is cold heartedness.
Obviously, as mentioned earlier, the first trait Adolf Hitlerand the White Witch share is
cunningness. The first piece of evidence that shows that the Witch is cunning is, While he was
prince he would wear a gold crown and eat Turkish delight all day long, (Lewis, 40). In this scene
the Witch finds Edmund. She tricks him to bring his siblings so that she can kill them. To do
this, she said she does not have an heir. She persuaded Edmund that if he does the job, and he
would become her heir. He could then become Prince of Narnia and eat Turkish delight all day
long. Similarly, Adolf Hitler brainwashed people to believe what he believes. Biography.com has
stated, It was abridged and translated into 11 languages, selling more than five million copies by
1939. A work of propaganda and falsehoods, this book laid out Hitler s plans for transforming
German Society into one based on race, ( Adolf Hitler ). This quote is talking about Hitler s
autobiography which is full of lies and false statements. The book s name is Mein Kampf, or My
Struggle. What Hitler was trying to show was, that he almost died in World War 1 by getting hit by
a bombshell and being gassed. He thought Jews were the reason behind the

  • 2. Is Euthanasia Wrong An assisted dying law would not result in more people dying, but in fewer people suffering (Selby). Euthanasia, also known as physician assisted death is the painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or in an irreversible coma (Nordqvist). There are many famous cases involving euthanasia. For example, on April 15, 1975, Karen Ann Quinlanlost consciousness after mixing alcohol and the drug Valium, restricting oxygen to her brain( Karen Ann Quinlan ). After several weeks, doctors at St. Clare s Hospital in Denville, New Jersey, say she is in a persistent vegetative state, with irreversible brain damage ( Karen Ann Quinlan ). In August, her parents asked doctors to remove their daughter s respirator. This was the first case of physician assisted death. Another right to die case involved Terri Schiavo. In February of 1990,at the age of 26, Terri Schiavo collapsed at home and oxygen was cut off to her brain for several minutes (Lynne). More recently,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All doctors take an oath known as the Hippocratic Oath at the beginning of their career stating that they will do whatever they can for a patient in order to help them, but helping is not always keeping them alive. Ending a person s life upon request with a purposeful goal is hardly a malicious act, therefore it is inaccurate to compare euthanasia to murder (Starks et al.). Another issue that many people see in physician assisted death is that it gives doctors too much power. However, the only power that it gives them is to fulfill someone s final wishes. Another valid point is that vital organs can be saved. There is a long list of people that are in need of a kidney, lung, heart, and liver transplant. However, with physician assisted death the organs can be preserved and be transplanted to someone who has been long waiting for a transplant (Messerli). Once again, we have to put the needs of the living before the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Chevrolet European Chief it is sleek, it has a high tech interior and arched roofline and most importantly it was Chevrolet s first global product that would be the future of where the brand will be. Before launching the Cruze, General Motor had been trying very hard for many years to make Chevrolet as its main global brand. This is because they are very different from their main competitors i.e., Honda and Toyota, General Motor has a huge brand portfolio in different countries. For example, Chevrolet dominates in US, Opel in Europe and Buick in China. They also took over Daewoo in South Korea in 2002 and after rebranding some of their models GM started selling them in Asia and Europe under the name of Chevrolet. There was a huge strategy of GM behind launching Cruze. With a brand new design, Cruze was launched when GM needed the most. The major reason behind it was there was a huge downfall in the auto sales of GM in US. That is why GM planned to launch a global product that would help them to recover losses that they suffered. RISKS INVOLVED: Besides a vision to gain profit there were some risks involved as well with the launch of Cruze. The first risk was tough competition from the rivals and another was low fuel economy. Cruze was expected to give a fuel economy of around 40 plus miles per gallon which was good enough ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Dead By James Joyce Essay James Joyce emerged as a radical new narrative writer in modern times. Joyce conveyed this new writing style through his stylistic devices such as the stream of consciousness, and a complex set of mythic parallels and literary parodies. This mythic parallel is called an epiphany. The Dead by Joyce was written as a part of Joyce s collection called The Dubliners. Joyce s influence behind writing the short story was all around him. The growing nationalist Irish movement around Dublin, Ireland greatly influences Joyce s inspiration for writing The Dubliners . Joyce attempted to create an original portrayal of Irish middle class life in and around Dublin at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century. The historical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through the idea of stream of consciousness he captured his characters arbitrary manners including their thoughts and feelings. This allowed Joyce s writing to be more understandable and convincing then previous writers. Joyce s writing technique with the use of the epiphany, religious symbolism, and stream of consciousness gave the reader access to a deeper understanding of human experience by using subconscious associations along with the conscious thoughts of narrative for his characters. All of these literary elements are portrayed in Joyce s The Dead . His story depicts aspects of everyday life in the Irish capital of Dublin. Joyce portrays the parochialism and piety as well as the repressive conventions of everyday life. Joyce s characters dream of a better life against a dismal and impoverishing background where the cumulative effects of life are full of despair and hopelessness. Through Joyce s modernist approach to narrating he uses a structure of symbolic meanings and revelatory moments called epiphanies . Joyce viewed Dublin as the Centre of Paralysis in Ireland (Puchner, Martin 177). Joyce viewed Dublin as a city of blunted hopes and dreams that were lost in the sea of misery. A city Joyce viewed that was filled with poor who were desperate to move out of the slums that they spent their entire lives living in. • 5. A Study On Admiralty Law And Maritime Law UNIT 1: INTRODUCTION 1.1 ABOUT SUBJECT: Admiralty Law or Maritime Law is a distinct body of domestic laws that supervene upon the maritime activities (like marine commerce, sailors related aspects, marine navigation, marine shipping, marine salvaging and transportation of passengers and goods by sea). It has also been governing questions and offenses related to maritime activities and other sub heads. Broadly, it is a more of a private international law related subject that governs the relationship between private entities that operate vessels on the oceans. Keeping in view the distinction with respect to the subject matters of Public and Private international law, it is mandatory to specify the distinction between The Law of the Seas and The admiralty law and the chapters succeeding will be a great source to enlighten the same. 1.2 HISTORY: The series that started with The Law of Prize as the governing Customary Law. Then came the the cannon shot rule that was developed by the Dutch Jurist (Cornelius van Bynkershoek), which talked about the limited National Rights granted to a speciп¬Ѓed belt of water extending from a nation s coastlines that was usually 3 nautical miles (i.e., 5.6 km or Three mile), it was so that all waters beyond national boundaries were considered international waters (i.e., free to all nations but belonging to none of them). • 6. Behavior Change Project Examples I chose to do my behavior change project on improving my diet. I put my own little twist on it with the way I measured my success and I had to supplement it to reach my goals, but I feel that it was done really well. My goal was at the end of the four weeks to be able to run 3.1 miles in 18:45. I have run times close to this before, but that was a couple of years ago. At the beginning of this project my time for 3.1 miles was 20:36. I knew that if I was committed and worked really hard that I would be able to do it though. I chose to measure my behavior change this way due to the fact that I have a very busy life and I am on the high school cross country team. I figured I would already be running each week and I have a raceevery week that I can measure my time against my goal. So I was just trying to save some time in my schedule by partially combining two activities. My goal for the end of the first week was to be able to run 3.1 miles in 20:00. I... My dad decided this year that he wanted to go the annual air race championships in Reno, Nevada. I was not expecting this to fall in the middle of behavior change project. This trip made it really easy to get the three miles in and hard to get the healthy meals in. Since we were trying to avoid spending too much money we were just eating at small diners and fair type food that were close by. I tried to mitigate the damage by ordering the healthiest alternative that I could find, but that did not always work. The other unforeseen difficulty was the addition of a new vending machine at my school. It is right in the main hallway and full of only unhealthy options. • 8. Literary Interpretation In Kich By Carolyn Kizer s Bitch Carolyn Kizer s Bitch is describing the unnamed woman s feelings towards an ex lover from an unspecified time in the past, which she has just encountered. The woman was extremely hurt by the ex and has a lot of anger deep inside towards this person, but does not want to demonstrate it. The main image is the speaker and the ex lover running into one another and catching up. Now, when he and I meet, after all these years, I say to the bitch in me, don t start growling. (Kizer 1,2). The tone of the poem is angry, sad, and reflects a relationship where she was hurt and misses the other person. The woman tries to control her inner feelings when she encounters the man, concealing her true feelings with polite conversation. Just by the tone of her inner feelings, you can see the woman thinks the man from her past caused her harm. The woman of Carolyn Kizer s Bitch provides a satiric interpretation of a typical meeting between her and an ex lover since the end of their relationship. In a single, thirty four line stanza, the woman participates in a witty monologue that displays a ideally ironic division: the woman s two coinciding but opposite interchanges, one entailing of the woman s external conversation with her former lover and the other of silent warnings, threats, and clarifications to her inner self, represented in the poem as a bitch. The speaker is camouflaging compelling emotions with external civility. While the hiding of true feelings is an everyday ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Differences Between Emily Dickinson And Bukowski Bukowski was influenced by many writers before and around his time as he was published in the mid to late nineties. Those who influenced him include Albert Camus, E. E. Cummings, John Fante, Henry Miller, and some will argue Emily Dickinson. Both writers, Dickinson and Bukowski, touch upon death, writing from their graves, and saving the world through the sincerity of one person. Dickinson s poem If I can stop one heart from breaking mirrors one of Bukowski s most famous quotes You begin saving the world by saving one person at a time; all else is grandiose romanticism or politics. His simple of idea that universal peace begins with one soul mimics the message in Dickinson s verse. If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain; If I can ease one life the aching, Or cool one pain, Or help one fainting robin Unto his nest again, I shall not live in vain (Dickinson). Words synonymous with each other not only shows the similarity in writing topics, but also in the thought process for both writers. Both their moral compasses lead to the same conclusion, whether it is a thought they act on or simply have. The similarities between these two go one further in their darker poetry. Emily Dickinson famously writes many poems about death and dying as does Charles Bukowski. Two poems of theirs are particularly similar. Bukowski s Alone with Everybody delivers a similar message about death as Dickinson s Because I could not stop for death ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Gallagher). We as a society in America think that everything is over that discrimination is done with. Race is something that is inevitable, but how we decide to perceive it is our choice, we see it as something not important and that race does not matter for a long time. So why are Indians to this day segregated from everyone else in reservations. With separate government still living within the United States, because they were seen as savages and not as humans. In comparing the Exam Hall to renowned neo classical buildings we can deduce that we are rightful in describing Trinity College Dublin s Exam Hall as being classical . Chamber s classical style shined in much of his work, specifically the exam hall. Trinity Colleges Exam Hall can be described as classical because it is built following the guidelines of Corinthian Order. During the period of classical architecture the Greeks founded the original three orders Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian different classical styles of building that followed certain rules and mathematical ratios. The Romans adopted these orders and made them their own. Roman Corinthian Order is the style of the Exam Hall. The most distinctive element is the columns, which support an entablature. The Exam Halls columns contain smooth unfluted shafts made from Portland Stone, a highly sought after stone at the time. The column capital is ornate as all classical capitals are. The capital is decorated with acanthus leaves and small volutes. There is also a fleuron in the center of the abacus, which lie atop the column capital. The capitals are also made of Portland stone. Trust me, before we know it we ll be complaining about the scorching heat and oppressive humidity and wishing we could have just a day or two of those milder temperatures once in a while. Anyway, with summertime comes the decidedly American tradition of cookingout. Cooking out is one of my favorite Summer activities. What a great way to kill three birds with one stone. First and most obvious we all need to eat, even though some of us (myself included) could stand to eat a little less. So why not cook out? I don t know about you, but for me there s something almost magical about eating foodthat s been cooked on a charcoal grill. It just seems to taste better. Maybe it s an association thing like turkey at Thanksgiving and Christmas, ham at Easter, cake on your birthday, liquor on New Years Eve OK, maybe we shouldn t go there. For my wife there s magic in the idea of her not having to cook. She s always up for letting me do the cooking! Let s move on, shall we? Second, cooking out can help reduce energy consumption. Think about it. If you re cooking outside you re not heating up the house with the range and/or oven going while simultaneously running the air conditioner to cool the house down. That should make Al Gore and the Inconvenient Truth crowd happy. On the other hand, they probably wouldn t appreciate the idea of burning charcoal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For John, the preparedness of the church is synonymous with the righteous activity of her saints. In addition to the church s call to active participation as the partner of Christ in righteous action in the world, the text takes a subtle yet critical turn toward a Eucharistic theology, as John references the invitation to the marriage supper of the Lamb a point that will be discussed in greater detail at a later juncture. While the word church is not directly mentioned in the pericope, it must be noted that other biblical texts such as 2 Corinthians 11:2 3 and Ephesians 5: 25 27 lend support to the notion of the church as Christ s bride. As the narrative develops John takes great care to remind his reader that the revelation that he receives comes as a result of an angelic encounter. Toward the end of the pericope, the angel with whom John speaks, seems to confirm that what John experiences has come from God as evidenced by the statement These are true words of God. After a few people were accused, fear set into the town and everyone was viewed as a witch until proven innocent. The Mission Of Carbon Offsets Our Mission The mission of Carbon Offsets To Alleviate Poverty (COTAP) is to empower individuals and organizations in developed countries to address both climate change and global poverty. COTAP counteracts your carbon emissions through certified forestry projects in least developed regions which create transparent, accountable, and life changing earnings for rural farming communities where income levels are less than $2 per day. The Problem In developing regions around the world, hundreds of millions of people live in rural areas on less than $2 per day. This level of poverty forces communities to make hard choices between food, health care, and education. It is the poverty level where an estimated 11 million children die every year. Many of these communities are not fits for traditional microfinance, which tends to be primarily urban, and significant portions of their land are not suitable for agriculture. While there are many promising technical innovations and development programs which can increase crop yields, there remains a geographic limitation on markets where such increased yields can be sold. The result is that there are farming communities all over the world who could be made much less economically vulnerable if there were a way to generate significant supplemental income from non crop land usage which did not rely on physical distribution. • 23. Allegories In Dante Alighieri About everything in life has a deeper meaning and it can be found with just a touch of creativity. But the ability to construct the meaning into literature takes so much more talent. That s where the average authors get weeded out from the great. Dante Alighieri is one of these great authors and it shows in his writing. He uses an abundance of allegories throughout his books making the reader overthink every word. In his book Inferno, Dante Alighieridescriptively crafts three allegories of Francesca, the city of Florence, and Dante s journey to incorporate hidden symbolism and meaning submerged underneath the cover story of Dante s version of Hell. Every once in a while it s necessary to take a step back, evaluate your life, and look at the bigger picture, which is what Dante did when he toured Hell. Dante Alighieri makes it obvious that Florence is Dante s Hell on earth by the way he incorporates all the negativity. Dante Alighieri s description of Florence leaves the readers to believe the city is in political ruins. There are so many sinners living there and Dante shows this when he says, But tell me, if you can, where they ll all end,/ the citizens of that divided town?/ Is there amongst them any honest man? (Alighieri 51) to paint a picture of how he views Florence. The beginning of the quote allows the readers to interpret that Dante doesn t have much confidence that they will go to heaven, rather he suggests that because of this indecisiveness that they will later be found in Hell. He used the word divided to show that there is a big controversy, which split the city of Florence, as he explains in the quote. The second sentence flat out states that he doesn t believe that there is a single honest man left and this is shown because of how he punctuates the end of the sentence with a question mark. This proves that Dante considers Florence as Hell because of all the sinners there. If he doesn t think he could find a single innocent person there, then it is basically equivalent to Hell, which Dante doesn t want to live in. All the depreciation of Florence shows that Dante doesn t want to live there and considers the city the trail that s directly feeding sinners to Hell. Everyone commits sins ... People would not want to hire him because he has a disability, which distanced himself from others. The lawyer says, Poor fellow, poor fellow! thought I, he don t mean any thing; and besides, he has seen hard times, and ought to be indulged (Melville, 19). The Oscars is an award show that showcase the best people in front and behind the camera. Unfortunately there was barely any diversity in the nominations this year since most nominators were white, even though there was many diverse films that were considered Oscar worthy. With that being said, people protested that there needs to be more diversity in these categories and some actors agreeing by using the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite in social media. Gender Advertisements Erving Goffman Summary As well as feeding off of the sources and material presented earlier in this paper, the analysis to come will also use Erving Goffman s categorisation of gender to analyse how the women (and some men) are depicted on the front covers of Playboy and Good Housekeeping within said timeframe. In his study GenderAdvertisements (Goffman, 1985), Goffman gathered hundreds of advertisements from magazines in various positions and poses and analysed poses and how they portrayed masculinity versus femininity. His way of analysing advertisement differentiates itself and makes a broader distinction of what is considered sexist or not, by showing much like the Heterosexual Script earlier on in the paper, what was considered appropriate roles for men and women. In Goffman s analysis of advertisements he suggests several variables used when analysing a depiction of both men and women. Relative size suggests women are often positioned lower than a man, both in height and size, which can often also propose they are lower in both physical and social standard. Feminine touch shows women carefully caressing an object, or even themselves by touch. Showing a clear distinction between the utilitarian grip men usually have, and the decorative touch women more often have. Potentially the most beneficial advantage to cooperation is that of providing a viable cover to mask U.S. actions or interests as local ones and concealing otherwise apparent U.S. behavior in foreign countries. There are also disadvantages to foreign intelligence relationships and liaisons which the United States must maintain a state of vigilance on (Rosenbach and Peritz, 2009). First the U.S. needs to be aware of the potential for conflicting interests. Relationships with adversaries could potentially provide them with sensitive information about interests, strategies, plans, or tactics critical to the U.S. This leads into hostile collection and the fact that liaisons or foreign partners may attempt to leverage their status in an effort to gain insight into United States intentions and or sources and methods. When we accompany Palestinians, because of the racism of the whole system, the army doesn t treat us as targets the way they treat Palestinians. We want to expose the racist nature of the conflict by doing this, and also simply try to protect people so they can try to resist politically. • 42. Evangelical Movements Since the beginning of the twenty first century the nature and authority of scripture have been issues regarding the Christian Faith. Throughout this paper the nature and authority of scripture will be surveyed in reference to three theological movements: Evangelical, Liberal, and Neo Orthodox. All three theological movements will be explored by examining the issues, implications, and analysis and application of the Evangelical, Liberal, and Neo Orthodox movements. The Issues The evangelicalism movement dates to the eighteenth century and is the earliest movement of the three movements. Evangelicalism originally took place in Britain and the British colonies and is connected to Puritanism and Pietism. Those who are in accordance with the beliefs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe it is possible to be in a Christian community where the believers in it come from one or a mix of any of the three movements. From being raised in a Christian household, I have an understanding of the various views on the authority of scripture. After doing further research and writing this paper I have a deeper understanding of the authority and nature of scripture. I know the word of God is not just based on the inspiration of God, but that it is God breathed and infallible. Having knowledge of that fact can help me when sharing scripture and what I have learned with the people out in the world. It is also important for us to not hold scripture above God, but instead use it to lead people to God through the scriptures. Reading about evangelicalism reminds me that we as children of God have a duty to be missionaries in our communities to help evangelize the world. God is counting on us to help grow his garden of souls. God is counting on us to plant the seed in someone who does not know or believe. With the help of God through the Holy Spirit the sharing of His Word should come easily and we must always remember that all things are possible through Christ. I will take the knowledge of the scripture I have gained and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Why Carter Center Won The Nobel Peace Prize Nobel Peace Prize What would you do if your entire nation is being ravaged by a disease that you don t know how to treat? That s where The Carter Center stepped in to aid struggling families in Africa. Led by former president Jimmy Carter and his wife, they were able to bring cures to villages that have none. Some people may say that the Carters just want to gain media attention but I will prove that is not the case. The purpose of this essay is to show why I believe the Carter Center should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. The first reason why The Carter Center should win the Nobel Peace prize is they assist people in thousands of villages with diseases that don t have a cure in their country. The biggest epidemic that the Carter Center was involved in was the Guinea worm disease. In just one years time the Center reduced the disease by a whopping 99 percent! That number decreased from 3.5 million to less then 11,000. Since the Center has many people to help throughout the world, they teach the people who are at the center of the disease to cure it themselves. To do this, the Carter Center train volunteers within the thousands of villages who are the main reason the diseases are cured. However, this not the only reason the Carter Center should win the Nobel Peace Prize. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To cure Guinea worm they took an extremely low tech approach. One of the main ways they stopped the disease was to keep people from drinking contaminated water. They built wells, treated water to kill fleas, and also filtered water. The simplest way they destroyed the disease was by handing out pipe filters. Pipe filters are small portable water purification plants that look like a piece of jewelry. It has a fine screen at the bottom that filters out fleas making any water source safe to drink. What more could they have done to help those ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Post American World Essay Fareed Zakaria Post American World Book Review Few would disagree that the previous U.S. administration of George W. Bush Jr. plunged America s international reputation to an all time low. Even as the country staggers to recover international goodwill under President Barack Obama, a homegrown credit crisis, captured most strikingly in the collapse of several iconic institutions of American industry like Citigroup and General Motors, has brought the U.S. economy to a standstill. Few would doubt that America will eventually recover from both crises. Be that as it may, the unipolar moment, centered on the preeminence of American power, purse, and presence may well and truly be over, or so we are often told. What powers will take the place... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This new global order, Fareed is quick to remind, has in fact proven remarkably peaceful. While a conclusion that would perhaps be initially met with raised eyebrows, Fareed proceeds to explain this in a manner that makes eminent sense. For instance, he argues that Islamic threat is overrated and that the struggle between governments and terrorists will persist, but with the former holding the upper hand. For instance, he explains, Al Qaeda may have been a movement out to rally the entire Muslim world to jihad against the West, but the many variations within Islam undermine its ability to merge into a single monolithic force. He goes on to suggest that ideological watchdogs have focused so much on jihad rhetoric that they have ceased to take into account the actual Muslim societies which are frustrated with the fundamentalists, wish for modernity (that allows for dignity and cultural pride), and pursue practical solutions not martyrdom. Equally telling is his explanation for this artificial and unnecessary state of paranoia we live in. The problem, to him, lies in the mismatch between people s perception and fear of the danger (i.e. war, terrorism, organized violence) that allegedly surrounds them, and the actual reality. This, he argues, can be partly attributed to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Timeless And Timelessness In Literature One theme in literature, and British literature alike, is timelessness. Many pieces that are famous have been passed down through generations and readers all over the world still relate to it through love or comedy. Two works that capture timelessness and universality are A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning written by John Donne and Much Ado About Nothing written by William Shakespeare. What often draws people to literature is raw emotion. A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning perfectly fits the raw emotion and timelessness with true love. This poem by John Donne captivates readers imaginations through his idea of love extending past death and the eternal love of two people. Love songs and love stories endure time because they are always relevant because love is always relevant. Donne s poem can be used in a variety of situations and has endured because of the sweetness and vulnerability of it. Donne writes, Thy firmness makes my circle just, / And makes me end where I begun, (Donne 35 36). These lines are one part of a conceit that likens his and his wife s love to a compass and that she completes him. If people are in love, romantic gestures and nice words can make the love grow stronger, so the message of Donne continues to be passed on through people in love. Poems like this make hearts swell and, on the education side, use many aspects of figurative language. A Valediction continues being taught because of the beautiful use of language and metaphors and how Donne ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe, And Adolf Hitler The White Witch or The Queen Of Narnia from C.S. Lewis book The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and Adolf Hitler, the old dictator of Germany are similar in many ways. The first trait they share is cunningness, the second is evilness, and the last is cold heartedness. Obviously, as mentioned earlier, the first trait Adolf Hitlerand the White Witch share is cunningness. The first piece of evidence that shows that the Witch is cunning is, While he was prince he would wear a gold crown and eat Turkish delight all day long, (Lewis, 40). In this scene the Witch finds Edmund. She tricks him to bring his siblings so that she can kill them. To do this, she said she does not have an heir. She persuaded Edmund that if he does the job, and he would become her heir. He could then become Prince of Narnia and eat Turkish delight all day long.
