Prompt #3 Scene analysis
I chose to analyze The Dark Knight (2008) directed by Christopher Nolan. My scene
begins at 00:01:13 and ends at 00:05:54. I chose to analyze this scene because it
contains interesting points that I have recognized, as the villain shows different
characteristics, using aspects such as camera angles. In this analysis, I will be looking
at the setting, lighting, sound and the use of the camera and how each of these views
influences the audience.
The setting within this sequence takes place downtown Gotham city in a building,
from ziplining, on the street, to the van, outside of the building, and last inside of the
bank. The scene starts, the camera zooms up onto a building. The window is then
broken and the camera switches showing a masked man shooting a zip line across
from the building to another building. The clowned mask is being used to hide their
faces which is iconic and is an example you would expect to see in a heist film. The
sound in the back ground is a fast hard tempo beat which gives the audience the
impression that this is a heist film. The next shot shows a man standing at the corner
of the street holding a clown mask in his hand and a bag. The camera slowly zooms
up to the mask leading the audience to believe that they may see the identity of the
person holding it. This man is unlike the others characters he is not wearing his mask
and this builds pressure, but this up tempo

The immigration is always an important issue throughout the history of the United
States. The government is struggling to assist the diversity of cultures and ethnic
groups because immigrants continuously bring their traditions into America. This
raised the metaphor melting pot and salad bowl, which described the term of
assimilation and integration of the many different cultures in America. Today, the
United Statessociety no longer matches the melting potmetaphor; it shifts to salad
bowl metaphor. This concept is different from the notion of the melting pot. The
salad bowl means that the immigrants keep their unique customs and cultures, the
integration degree of immigrant merge into the American community, and the youth
immigrant generations recognize their heritage of origin culturein the mainstream of

The term melting pot was generally used in the United States after it was used as a
metaphor for describing an association of cultures and ethnicities in 1908. Many
different types of people blend together as one in a society. America is always a

of immigrants have mixed together. They have refused their origin traditions and
cultures to become totally assimilated into American society. That was why

Weddings, A rite of passage
A rite of passage is a public ceremony that marks, recognizes, celebrates or is
believed to actually cause a change in a person and her or his status, usually brought
about or related to increasing age (Peoples, Bailey). Almost every culture has rituals
that signal a change in life. Marriage is one of the most common rites of passage in
any culture. Weddings and marriage ceremonies are clear transitions from
adolescence to adulthood. Some form of marriage is known to have existed in all
human societies. Its traditional function in most of these societies has been to
stabilize sexual relations and to unite a man and a woman in order to provide care
for the young. In addition, marriage has linked and allowed for economic
exchanges between different kin groups and has served as the primary coming of
age ritual for women (Nelson). In America we are known for throwing lavish
ceremonies and expensive parties to celebrate the union between two people. I ve
attended quite a few weddings and participated in one during my lifetime thus far.
Most weddings in the American culture follow the same itinerary.

In today s modern world it seems as if all major events have an official story, and
another often less credible story pursued by doubters and sceptics of the government
or the details in the story. These sceptics are more often than not referred to as
conspiracy theorists. The issue that arises with these conspiracy theoriesis that while
some sound over the top ridiculous, some have turned out to be all but true. For this
reason, conspiracies are often controversial, they make serious issues into a
fairytale, or a simple non serious event into a serious concerns. These theories are the
result of paranoia regardless of their truth, they are often formed on assumptions,
absence of information, and fear. For these reasons a conspiracy can be formed
around nearly any situation, disaster or event. Conspiracy theories are not just a
modern phenomenon either, and they can be found throughout human history, but
with today s technology it has become easier than every to spread these ideas
around. These ideas propagate due to the culture surrounding the world, and the fear
individuals have of the unknown. Many people prefer elaborate stories over simple
explanations, especially when they feel their government is behind the event.
Misunderstanding, disbelief, denial, fear and human abilities and emotion play into
why and how these conspiracy theories emerge. Theories based outside of definite
fact, or the accepted explanation has been occurring as far back as history goes. The

The period prior to World War I contained many political changes throughout the
world. Characteristics during the decade prior to World War I was often referred to
as Globalization. The trade industry actually grew from what considered to be one

passage was describing the sun setting and the night flowers blooming. By

these items one would attach the weighted rubber stoppers to one end of the
apparatus and a hanging mass on the opposite end. The time and number of rotations
were recorded for various weight scenarios and then used to graph the square of the
orbital period versus the Mass ratio of the swinging to hanging weight. This was done
to show accuracy of the theoretical model in real time. The data obtained from this
experiment is then calculated and plotted on a graph. This information was between a
twenty percent confidence interval due to human error. The results shown below

My scene begins at 00:01:13 and ends at 00:05:54. I chose to analyze this scene because it contains interesting points that I have recognized, as the villain shows different characteristics, using aspects such as camera angles. In this analysis, I will be looking at the setting, lighting, sound and the use of the camera and how each of these views influences the audience. The setting within this sequence takes place downtown Gotham city in a building, from ziplining, on the street, to the van, outside of the building, and last inside of the bank. The scene starts, the camera zooms up onto a building. The window is then broken and the camera switches showing a masked man shooting a zip line across from the building to another building. The clowned mask is being used to hide their faces which is iconic and is an example you would expect to see in a heist film.
