The Battle of Coral Sea
May 7 8, 1942, an important battle happen, that is the Battle of Coral Sea. The Battle was fought
by air planes on both sides, There was no ship involved at all. The Japanese wanted to capture
New Guinea and leave Australia out. The Coral Sea actions happen from a Japanese operation,
they wanted to capture Port Moresby, on New Guinea s southern eastern coast. Japanese air base
threaten Australia and supported plans for future expansion, trying to help Australia get out of the
war and exchange the strategic defense of Japan s oceanic empire. In the spring of 1942, the
Japanese had great gains in the Far East. The conquest of the Philippines, Burma, Malaya, and
Dutch East Indies had cost the Japanese Navy 23 warships. Also, 67... Show more content on

The Demand For Fossil Fuels
With Earth s population continuing to grow, the demand for fossil fuels is increasing every day.
In 2014, the United States alone consumed over 19 million barrels of oil a day. Not only is
running out of these vital fuels a concern, but our ferocious appetite for fossil fuels is heating
our planet at an alarming rate. While wind and solar power have been doing their part to cut
back on the use of fossil fuels, it may be biology that allows us to finally cut the cord to fossil
fuels. Recent studies into using biology as a renewable fuel have shown that an H2 producing
bacteria called, Rhodopseudomonas palustris, and biodiesel producing algae may be the keys. R.
palustris is unique in that it consumes electrons from iron and other metallic... Show more content

palustris produces H2 and uses and enzyme called nitrogenase to catalyze the reaction. However,
most bacteria actually live in nitrogen deprived environments. The bacteria in those nitrogen
deficient environments stop growing, while producing more H2 than the bacteria who have
access nitrogen. The increased H2 production is due to a metabolic process called the
tricarboxylic acid cycle. This cycle replaces the gyloxylate cycle that is used by R. palustris in
nitrogen rich environments. In addition, the bacteria use the electrons they collected via EET to
generate ATP in another process called cyclic photophosphorylation. When nitrogen is not
available as a catalyst for H2 production, R. palustris can use electrons ingested from sources like
iron to produce H2. The problem with using these electrons is that the process of H2 production
will be in constant competition with the biosynthetic process of cyclic photophosphorylation,
which also requires electrons to function (Mckinlay et al. 2013). The energy created from algae
for biofuels is slightly less complicated than that of its bacterial cousin. Algae composition, by
weight, is half lipid oil. Scientists have been studying this oil for decades to convert it into algae
biodiesel this biodiesel burns cleaner and more efficiently than any petroleum based fuel (Stefani
Newman How Algae Biodiesel Works 2008). The algae used in the production of diesel are grown

Mass Incarceration And Its Effects On The United States Essay
Mass incarceration is a major problem in the United States. Since the tough on crime movement that
began to emphasize more punishment and creating new policies such as; three strikes law, truth in
sentencing laws, mandatory sentencing, and determinate sentencing, our prisons and jails have
become overcrowded. The three strikes law increases the prisonsentence of an offender convicted of
three felonies or serious crime. Usually the punishment ranges from a minimum of 25 years to life
in prison. The truth in sentencing laws require the offender to serve a substantial amount of their
prison sentence (usually around 85 percent) before they are eligible for release on parole. The
mandatory sentencing requires a minimum period of incarceration that the offender must serve
regardless of the history of the offender or the nature of the circumstance. These get tough policies
have implicated longer prison and jail sentences and has reduced the amount of discretion that the
judges, parole/probation officers and prison and jail administrators. These actions have
consequently increased the prison and jail population, which causes an increase in money spent on
jails and prisons. The United States have moved away from rehabilitating offenders. Incarcerating
offenders without trying to rehabilitate them only increases the chances of them returning back to
jail or prison. The correctional system should focus their attention on rehabilitating offenders and
looking at alternatives to

The Last Night Of The World Chapter Summary
What if the end of the world was tonight? Many people often worry about their last day of life on
Earth; if it were to ever end. This fear tends to make people think about what they could do to
make the best of their remaining time. This situation is shown in the short story The Last Night
of the World by Ray Bradbury. In this story, there are two unnamed characters who talk about
what they are thinking and feeling on their last day. These two characters connect with each other
at a higher level, dealing with the last day of their existence together. The theme of this short story
is to live life to the fullest while you can. If people live this way, then the end is less scary, and the
journey there is more enjoyable. This theme is portrayed through the characters words, describing
how they feel about the situation. The first way the theme emerges is in the girl s words. The girl is
younger than the man and is more cautious about the matter. She isn t scared, but more... Show

He is older and wiser, and has mostly come to peace with his life. The first way this is shown is
when he says Sometimes it frightens me; sometimes I m not afraid at all but at peace (1). This
shows that although he is scared of the future, he is at peace with his past and what will happen.
The second way his words show is serenity with the situation is when he is describing the things
he will miss. He says I won t miss a thing except perhaps the change in weather, and a glass of ice
water when it s how, and I might miss sleeping (3). This quote is saying that he will miss the
simple things, not the big ones. The last way the theme is emerged is when the man and his wife
go to bed as normal. It says, They washed the dishes and stacked them away with special neatness.
At eight thirty the girls were out to bed and kissed goodnight... (3). This scene show that although
the world is ending, people are still about to be normal about

Nicholas Stoller s Neighbors
When I got the invite to see Nicholas Stoller s work in progress comedy Neighbors back in
February, I didn t know what to expect. Of course, I knew it was going to be raunchy but my
main concern was whether the film would be actually funny. Seth Rogen s particular brand of
comedy has been largely hit or miss with me as there are times where I ve found him too
abrasive (like in 2011 s ill advised reimagining of venerable radio serial crime fighter the Green
Hornet) but when he s in a role that plays to his strengths, he can be absolutely hilarious. Despite
my mixed feelings on Rogen, the biggest wildcard in Neighbors was Zac Efron. Women
specifically teenage girls may go crazy over his baby blue eyes and perfectly formed pecs and
abs but as an actor, he s been less than impressive. With only the poster as my frame of reference,
I went into the screening of Neighbors and came out ninety minutes later in pain...because I was
laughing so hard! In fact, I enjoyed Stoller s film so much that I recently saw it a second time in
its completed form, although the only things that were missing in the work in progress version
was some post production effects and the end credits. We re barely two weeks into the summer
movie season and already we have a strong contender for best comedyof 2014.

Objectives Of Six Sigma
SIX SIGMA:
Six Sigma means a measure of quality that strives for near perfection. Six Sigma is a disciplined
and data driven approach or methodology for eliminating defects (driving towards six standard
deviations between the mean and the nearest specification limit) in any process , from
manufacturing to transactional and from product to service. The statistical representation of Six
Sigma describes quantitatively how a process is performing. To achieve Six Sigma, a process must
not produce more than 3.4 defects per million opportunities. A defect is defined as any process
output that does not meet customer specifications. The fundamental objective of the Six Sigma
methodology is the implementation of a measurement based strategy that focuses on process
improvement and variation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Six Sigma as a measurement standard in product variation can be traced back to the 1920 s when
Walter Shewhart showed that three sigma from the mean is the point where a process requires
correction. Many measurement standards (Cpk, Zero Defects, etc.) later came on the scene but
credit for coining the term Six Sigma goes to a Motorola engineer named Bill Smith. (Incidentally,
Six Sigma is a federally registered trademark of Motorola).
In the early and mid 1980s with Chairman Bob Galvin at the helm, Motorola engineers decided that
the traditional quality levels measuring defects in thousands of opportunities didn t provide enough
granularity. Instead, they wanted to measure the defects per million opportunities. Motorola
developed this new standard and created the methodology and needed cultural change associated
with it. Six Sigma helped Motorola realize powerful bottom line results in their organization in fact,
they documented more than $16 Billion in savings as a result of our Six Sigma

John Stuart Mill The Harm Principle
John Stuart Mill was an English philosopher and a progressive in British politics during the 17th
century. He lived during a time of political transformation in England caused by the Industrial
Revolution. The Industrial Revolution brought social mobility to the middle and lower class, along
with more political participation. With this newfound freedom, the people of England felt their
liberties were being diminished because they had the ability to accomplish all the more but in some
cases, could not. This was just one question of libertybrought up during the time Mill was
developing intellectually (Sparks 186). Mill wrote many works that trifled with the idea of gender
equality, government structure, and economic principles, to name a... Show more content on

The largest and arguably most influential point Mill makes in his essay is that the harm principle
does not only apply to the government anymore but to all of society. In making this argument he
is defining societal values in that it shaped areas in which society must respect personal liberties.
He constructs his statement on how the harm principle is applied to society in three parts. His
first assertion pertains to the liberty of one s own mind. He states, the inward domain of
consciousness; demanding liberty of conscience, in the most comprehensive sense; liberty of
thought and feeling; absolute freedom of opinion and sentiment on all subjects, practical or
speculative, scientific, moral, or theological (Mill 20). In saying this, Mill means that a person s
liberty cannot be persecuted if they never act on them. Any thoughts a man may have are his
own thoughts and he may think whatever he would like to think. This has shaped societal values
because no one is truly obligated to share what they think today, nor is it a societal norm to
criticize one s opinions if they differ from your own but it does happen. His second statement
addresses the control one individual can have over another. He claims that an individual can plan
their life as they please, and should not be met with the pressure of what others may see as being
abnormal (Mill 20). By saying this, Mill expresses the

Rosalind Franklin Dna Replication
Because of her discovery of the B form of DNA, recognition that two states of the
DNA molecule existed and defined the conditions for the transition, essentially being literally only
two steps away from discovering the structure of DNA herself, Rosalind
Franklin deserved to be a co winner of the 1962 Nobel Peace Prize Nobel Prize in
Medicine for elucidating the structure of DNA in such a way that the mechanism for genetic
replication was revealed. The x ray, or photograph that James Watson, Francis
Crick and Maurice Wilkins used, and was extremely viable in all three of their research, was a
direct result of work carried out by Rosalind Franklin while at King s College in
London. Instead, the three men received the recognition and Rosalind ... Show more content on

From these photographs, or x rays, she was able to draw a logical conclusion to the basic
dimensions of DNA strands. Rosalind actually presented these findings at a lecture in King s
College at which one of the eventual Prize winners, James Watson, were in attendance. Franklin
tried to figure out how the double helix worked but wasn t able to. Without her permission,
Franklin s co worker, Maurice Wilkins, secretly showed her photos to the American scientist
Watson. He and Francis Crick, his British research partner, were trying to build a DNA model.
When Watson saw the photographs, he realized that DNA is a double stranded helix and the two
were able to complete the model.
In 1953, the same year Rosalind left Cambridge, both Wilkins and Franklin published papers on
their X ray data in the same journal issue with Watson and Crick s paper on the structure of DNA.
Neither published paper gave credit to the photo that would eventually help, if not become the
breakthrough they needed in their

Lily Monologue
I m 15 years old and most nights I ponder what happiness means.
I don t fight, cry or yell but these days I find myself wanting to do all three.
I thought I had life figured out when I was young and free.
Back then I knew what I wanted to be,
Back then I wanted to be a pilot, an artist, a doctor, a secret agent, and a singer for the whole world
to hear.
And when I was 5 years old I used to always throw my dolls into my bright pink and blue bag,
zipped halfway, toys dingling, and run away to beneath the massive oak tree.
I ve held hands with more boys then I wish I ve had and not nearly as many as I would ve liked to.

often.

But I force myself not to but I still do!
I m trying to find happiness.
I still am but for the time being I ride my bike
Across the park where I see little girls and boys content
Like water lilies all spread around the playground
So beautiful I pray they may stay forever a child
Filled of joy and carelessness
So full of color and exploring outside of the perfectly drawn images
I find myself sitting on a park bench with Lily as she reads to me
Her eyes skimming the pages and attempting to read the words,
She cries when she can t pronounce them
I tell her, hey Lily it s okay
It s okay to not know how to say it correctly.
It s okay stumble and fall.

Diagnosis
Diagnosing a TB patient is through taking proper medical history and physical examination to
observe the characteristic symptoms of TB patients which are cough, weight loss, fever and/or
night sweats (for pulmonary TB patients also may complain of coughing of blood) which might
be mild for several months, this is why some patients neglect to see doctors early so they are
kept without treatment for some time leading to the increase of chance of spread of the
organism to other people (12). Other tools of diagnosing are chest x ray especially in pulmonary
TB (3), and doing some tests including sputum smear microscopy that is even though very old
method, it is not only still used but also the most common test used globally. Because of the
improvements of diagnosing procedures and due to WHO approval in 2016, there is increasing in

Forrest Gump Is The Portrayal Of A Man That Has Been...
Introduction
Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you re gonna get. Forrest Gump is the
portrayal of a man that has been alienated from society, not because he is unintelligent or dimwitted,
but rather because he is not restricted by the conventional ideals, which are embedded, within his
culture; thus, Forrest challenges the conformities and principals that most people are accustomed
to. The contrast that Robert Zemeckis, director of the film, is attempting to convey through the
character of Forrest Gump is how most people are too smart for there own good; and thus, try to
escape the realities and actualities of life. While other characters in the story are suppressed by
society s conflicts, Forrest remains blinded to all; hence, he is able to live in the moment, rather
than evading what is real. Forrest s unique selflessness and compelled nature to do what is right,
as opposed to what is easy, are what our society incorrectly labels stupidity or ignorance.
Zemeckis is obviously pointing out that an individual has no control over his or her own destiny
and in order to live a noble life, must accept life as it is.
I think it is very appropriate that Zemeckis begins his movie with the scene in which he does.
Starting with Forrest s worn out and dirty shoes with a camera shot of a feather floating on the
breeze foregrounds the entire movie. It is an obvious symbol for Forrest and the way he just
casually makes his way through the worst of times

public. Much of the knowledge the average American receives on a daily basis is through

Americans have with chemistry is in a high school lab. A survey by the Royal Chemical Society,

In America you can vote, why?; because we have a democracy in which people are in charge

citizens have such as my parents. My parents vote in what they believe in and my mom is even a
politician so people vote for her. It s important to vote because we can express our opinions and it
could change our future. Opinion, everyone uses it from the president to an average joe, so what is
one of the best ways to voice your opinion, voting. You vote because you want to express what

Bowers Vs Hardwick Case
The fourteen Amendments have given a rational change for society. Most of the cases have
given society the opportunity to establish a different perspective about a daily routine. All of
those cases were decided because of the 14th Amendment, giving citizenship rights and equal
protection of the laws. However, the Amendment also limits the actions of all state and local
officials. Dred Scott v. Stanford, Dred Scott taken by his owner he travel to Free states and he
attempted to sue for his freedom, but he was still a property to his owner. The Constitutional

Essay on The Cultural Significance of The Tale of Genji
The Cultural Significance of The Tale of Genji
The Tale of Genji is one of the most important stories of ancient Japanese literature. Japanese
scholar Sin Ohno said that there is no literature written during the Heian Era which is written in as
precise language as The Tale of Genji. The author, Murasaki Shikibu, is a woman. In this tale, we
can see the concept towards marriage of women during her period.
During the Nara Era, and some time before, the concept of marriage was totally different from the
concept we know today. It is called Tsuma Toi Kon. Tsuma means wife; Toi means to visit; Kon
means marriage. In order to explain the marriage during this era, I will present an example of the
typical interactions between men ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this time, daughters inherit the land from their mother. This shows that men and women did
not completely rely on each other economically. Men and women generally had their own
properties and estates. Sometimes women rejected men coming to visit them at their estates after
the relationship began. On the other hand, men sometimes stopped visiting women. During the
Heian era, traditional marriage was still strong. Also, in some cases, when a man stopped visiting a
woman for a while, another man started visiting the woman. While the new man was still visiting,
the old man might come back to visit the woman; two men might even meet each other. Visiting
several women at a time was not considered rude during this era.
Women were often treated differently according to status. Women of different status often hated
each other and became jealous of each other. In The Tale of Genji, women of the court hated
Kiritsubo because the emperor loved her the most even though Kiritsubo was in a lower position
than those women. There were many problems concerning marriage during this era.
During the Heian era, however, new changes occurred. The growth of a consuming public
accelerated with the development of cities like Heian Kyo. People used to work, even wives of
nobles, outside on their farm land. Royalty started living on the money collected by the
government, and also lived on the properties and estates given by their parents. The population

I Can t Determine First Time I Ever Felt Shame
I can t determine first time I ever felt shame, nor am I certain that I want to remember. The thought
of even discussing shame makes me feel quite vulnerable and uncomfortable, but, upon deeper
reflection, I can conclude that shame has almost always been an integral part of my character. This
same reflection also causes my mindto race towards the p word: perfection. Dr. BrenГ© Brown
stated in her lecture that this attitude of feelingshame from an inability to reach an ideal existence
is commonly found in women, but it is in this manner that I feel I most commonly interact with
shame (www.ted.com). To make matters worse, I have consistently bottled this shame up within
myself and have not communicated or acknowledged its existence. By so doing I have allowed
shame to flourish within me. Dr. Brown added that shame, needs three things to grow
exponentially: secrecy, silence, and judgment. Without knowing it, I have been effectively
growing my own shame over the past twenty years. I personally desire to kill shame at its very
roots in my mind now that its existence has been made known. Examining perfection could be the
place to begin my quest to eliminate shame. Perfection for me has presented itself as a persistent
needto properly meet or surpass expectations. There are always expectations that a person must live
up to, and they may come from internal or external sources. These expectations can vary between
cultures, but they are always present. I have realized that I

and friends. As he assumes that the arguments are over and he is in control of his own life again.
Additionally, Bigger has more important problems to worry about than his current friendship, as he

Bigger is naturally afraid that Jan might speak a different story than what he told P.I. Britten, so
in an attempt to silence and bully him into submission to stop asking questions. This however
backfires as Jan is not the kind of man who would easily give up on what he set his eyes on, in

Bigger introduces him to his little murder story, Jan defends his own self well enough that the story

Bigger plans to disguise Mary s disappearance as a communist kidnapping. Following his

Leonard Shelby s Use Of Narrative Techniques In Memento
Memento is one of the more unique mainstream films of the 2000s. In this film, we see the
protagonist, Leonard Shelby, in search for the man who raped and killed his wife. This is no
typical detective tale as Leonard s investigation is complicated by his anterograde amnesia,
which he develops from a blow to the head. Leonard cannot make new memories, which makes
remembering new facts about the murder impossible. As a result, Leonard relies on an extensive
photograph record and tattoos of facts about the case to stay focused on his investigation. Even
with his methods, Leonard is not able to keep up with all new information. Consequently, he is
manipulated by a corrupt cop (Teddy) who eventually tells Leonard that his wife did not die in the
attack, and that he had actually killed his wife s killer long ago but forgot about it. As a result of
being manipulated, Leonard writes on a picture of Teddy that He... Show more content on

The backward story telling implemented in Memento leaves the audience disoriented as the
audience experiences events without knowing the causes of those events (because Leonard s short
term memory forgets the causes of the event that takes place). The narrative structure of Memento
truly accentuates the condition of Leonard. Furthermore, the editing of certain sequences further
disorients the audience because the sequence of events is edited to fit the character of the
fragmented mind of the protagonist. Thus, the editing helps to reveal the mindset of Leonard.
Finally, the color changes experienced from certain scenes to other scenes highlight Leonard s
forgotten parts of the story being told, which, again, further complicates and disorients the audience
to fit the disoriented protagonist. All in all, certain elements of film can tell interesting and non
traditional stories. No film can better exemplify this fact than

I Attended Western Kentucky University s Symphony Concert
I attended Western Kentucky University s symphony concert. It was on Friday, October 30th at
7:30pm. It was held in Van Meter Hall. Their event was named It s time for a treat. The
symphony was conducted by Dr. Brain St. John. Before it began, I read over the program that was
handed out to find out basic information. The history of the pieces helped in understanding them.
The concert featured many well known works by famous composers such as Camille Saint Saens,
Modest Mussorgsky, and Berlioz. The three pieces that are the most memorable in my mind are
Overture to La Cenerentola , LГ ci darem la mano , and March to the Scaffold from Symphonie
Fantastique. Beginning with the first piece called Overture to La Cenerentola composed by
Gioachino Rossiniin 1817. It was part of the Rossini s version of the opera, Cinderella. An overture
is used to capture the audience s attention. It informs the audience the concert is about to begin.
This piece is still a good selection for an overture. The contrasting soft and loud pitches made a
good way to get the audience s attention. Also the brass section became a vital piece towards the
end with the intense The increasing and decreasing tempo seemed like a good warning that the
main event was about to begin. I really enjoyed this music. I felt like it was light because of how
the strings and woodwinds interacted. This helped the mood in the room go from somber to upbeat.

Tollund Man is a 2400 year old naturally mummified body that was discovered in 1950 in a

a result of being hung by a rope noose, because he believed in another god than his community,
which suggested he was rebelling against his own community. According to Source A, the Danish
police report, Tollund Man wore an iron neck ring, which was typically what slaves wore during the

Act 8 Called To Be Church
In reading, Acts 8 and Called to be Church. There are so many patterns of conversion that can be
gleaned in the understanding of being saved. As we compare the conversion with Simon of Samaria
and the anonymous eunuch from Ethiopia, in learning how God requires us to become Christians.
This is their story of conversions.
When Philip arrived in Samaria, Simon was amazed by the power of God working in Philip s life,
that Simon repented and became a believer, baptized and saved (Act 8:22). However, Simon
being a magician by heart, when his conversion happened, Simon s magic practice came to a
screeching halt. As if it was something evil or anti Christian. This was considered the outward sign
of his conversion, but later, became a misplaced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Acts 8 tells us, this man was in Jerusalem to worship the God of Israel, but was not saved.
However, he gains religion from hearing the preaching, in a revival under the leading of Peter
and John in Samaritan City. The story goes, that God sought after this man, after he left
Samaritan City and divinely leading Philip to him, in a desert place. As if, it was a divine
election of God s sovereign will. Acts 8:26 40 tells us, an angel appeared to Philip and told him
to go join this man in the chariot. Later riding down the road, Philip baptized the man in the
water that they come upon and the Spirit of the Lord took Philip away. As this man witnessed
what just happened, he left the scene rejoicing. This opened the door for all Gentiles to be saved
by God. Later, the story goes on to say, some ancients viewed this man to be the father of
evangelism in Ethiopia (Carter and Earle, p. 122).
For me, I had a different, but the similar pattern as the eunuch s conversion. In 1994, responding
to a different concept and experience of conversion. Bringing me later to find God in a new
revelation, that changed me to truly repented, baptized, and saved, in 2013. As Fernando states,
Conversion, not conceived in narrowly moral terms, rather seen as coming to a new understanding:

Does Playing Sports Help Your Child Succeed In The Future...
Dear Parents/Guardians of students in Amery School District,
Some think that competitive sports are bad or almost terrible for kids while others think it is an
opportunity for children. It is clear that sports are good for young adults because it can help them
be more successful in school and in the future because there will be pressure. One reason is that
children tend to do better academically when they are in a competitive sport. A paragraph from the
article Does playing sports as a child help you become successful in life? By Matthew Edward

The majority of jobs involve working with other people. If a child develops good teamwork and
leadership skills early on in life, he/she will be better off later in life when it matters most. This
suggests that by playing sports teenagers can learn to be leaders and working hard in school
(2016). In addition, an experienced sports coach wrote the article How Sports can Help Your
Child Succeed in the Future in this article he found a survey that Minnesota State High School
League study took. He states As kids get a little older . . . the correlation between sport and
success becomes more palpable. A Minnesota State High School League study found that student
athletes are more than twice as likely to graduate than non athletes. They also showed to have a
higher average GPA (2.84) than non athletes (2.68,) and were absent from school fewer days per
year. This supports the idea that teens that are involved in sports have a higher grade point
average or have higher grades than non athletic teens, so those teens that are in sports will have a
chance of receiving scholarships. (2014) Likewise, Steve Silverman wrote the article, How Do

Since Randy is a fresher, he may be nervous about suggesting the above course of action to

policy of extension of expiration date by a warehouse or a distributor. Randy can bring across
this to his boss Cheryl and follow the instructions. If Cheryl is convinced that the cost benefit
analysis of the extension of the expiry period is favorable, then the warehouse company Meeker

Dumbest Generation Essay
There have been many claims that Generation Y, or millennials, are the dumbest generation to
have lived. However, millennials, while they don t hold extensive knowledge, know where to get
the information needed and can access the information they need for research quicker than past
generations due to search engines. Millennials also can change their tone to match their audience
generally better than past generations as well. Does this mean they can be considered the smartest
generation? Possibly. Millennials today seem to care more about where to get the information
they need rather than retaining it. For example, they know they can access the Google search
engine. This shows that, according to Begley (Source 2), Gen Y s ignorance of facts reflect not
dumbness, but choice. This lack of knowledge does not prove that millennials are dumb, but that
they have access to a lot of information if they choose to use their sources, and since this
information is readily available, they do not have to necessarily retain facts. Also, contrary to some
beliefs, the access to search engines don t make the generation dumb, but it rather changes the way

Use Of Propaganda And How It Is Used By Donna Woolfolk Cross
How Not to Be Bamboozled
We tend to think of language as something we use; we are much less often aware of the way we
are used by language (Cross 247). There are different types of communication and communication
styles, for example, verbal, non verbal, and visual. Propaganda can be found in all forms of
communication. It is used for persuading, coercing, and manipulating ones feelings, actions, and
belief of things in a certain way. Donna Woolfolk Cross believes, The only defense to become wise
to the ways of words (247).
In her essay, Propaganda: How Not to Be Bamboozled , author Donna Woolfolk Cross explains the
different types of propaganda and how it is used in the United States. The essay was first
published in Speaking of Words: A Language Reader (1977). Cross defines propaganda as simply
a means of persuasion and so it can be put to work for good causes as well as bad (247). In her
article she discusses how propaganda works and explains how propaganda is used with thirteen
different devices to manipulate people s thoughts, opinions, and ideas. She uses this essay as an
informative piece, giving advice on how not to be manipulated by propaganda.
In Cross s opinion, she believes people are bamboozled by propaganda because they fail to
recognize when they experience it (248). The thirteen propaganda methods Cross describes in this

The Detroit Lions And Chicago Lions
The Detroit Lions started the 2016/2017 season on September 11th, with a close win over the
Indianapolis Colts. This game was a major back and forth battle that could ve easily been in favor
of the Indianapolis Colts but instead went to the Detroit Lions with the score of 39 to 35. This
game for sure was a great way to start the season for the Detroit Lionsand also showed the potential
that they have going into the season and because of that it raises many questions of how the
Detroit Lions are going to do in the upcoming season. In this essay I will explore the claim that the
author uses ethos, logos, and pathos to express to the audience that years after the great legend
Barry Sanders(who played for the Detroit Lions from 1989 till 1998) the Detroit Lions may once
again be a power house in the run game again. I argue the fact that it is a little too early to make a
speculation like that about the season but only time will tell as the seasons continues.
Now the article, Years after Barry, the Detroit Lions run game pretty sweet again? written by Dave
Birkett starts out by recapping on the Lions vs. Colts game. He then explains throughout the
article about how the Detroit Lions may once again have a strong running force after years of
being the worst when it comes to the run game. He uses stats and also statements from coaches,
and players to give the reader an insight on where he s coming from.
The author of the article, Dave Birkett has an outstanding record

Reflection On The Seamstress
The Seamstress dramatically changed how I viewed the Holocaust because it not only showed
me how intolerable the conditions were, but also how poorly the Jews were treated. Before
reading The Seamstress I did not fully grasp the concept of the Holocaust or the fact that the
Jews were scared for their lives. My knowledge of the tragic event was very vague, and I didn t
understand it was so horrific. Not only were the survivors extremely brave, but they also suffered
unbearable scenarios which I, myself, do not believe I could withstand. Initially, the book showed
me that the Jewswere despised, preyed upon, and often felt very unsafe just walkingin the street. It s
very sad that people felt unsafe around their homes, and where they grew up. It s also sad that
Jews were harrassed in the street and around their houses. I think you should be able to walk
freely without being nervous to be taunted. The Jews, however, couldn t walk freely, were so often
spit on, and called names by the Germans. Sadly, even the kids were being so mean to the Jews. I
believe that hate and racism is taught, and the German s definitely taught their children to hate the
Jews. The children often spit on the Jews walking in the streetsand called them names such as, dirty

Student Code Of Professional Responsibility
As members of Western College of Law, and, moreover, as members of the legal and academic
communities, students must hold themselves to the highest standards of ethical behavior. An
individual whose actions impugn the integrity of his self or herself necessarily impugn the
integrity of the institutions and communities in which they are permitted membership. Moreover,
those who would practice law have a sworn duty to the People, who must trust in the honor and
integrity of their legal advocates and representatives. If the People lose faith in the law, the law
loses its efficacy as a tool for the public good. Therefore, as protectors of the academic and
professional ethics of this honorable profession, this board has a sacred duty to... Show more content

Section IV (A)(1)(2) and (3) of the Student Code of Professional Responsibility (Student Code)
dictates, [a]ny conduct pertaining to academic or other University matters that evidences fraud,
deceit, [or] dishonesty constitutes a violation of the Student Code. Furthermore, it states, [a]ny
criminal act that raises serious doubts about the accused student s honesty, integrity or fitness to
practice law constitutes a violation of the student code. Mr. O Shea committed this act
purposefully and knowingly in violation of section IV (B). The Committee should expel Mr.
Oshea from Western College of Law. Admission to the State Bar will require that Mr. Oshea to
prove that he [i]s a person of good moral character, which may be proved by any evidence
satisfactory to the court. Furthermore, the State Bar often considers an applicant s financial
integrity. In Application of Taylor, the Supreme Court of Oregon denied the applicant, relying
heavily on the evidence that the he had committed theft and that he had exhibited dishonest
financial practices. Mr. Oshea s offense covers both of these grounds with a single act. The
Committee should apply the same logic to its decision. Though this recommendation is admittedly
severe, the details Mr. Oshea s actions clearly warrant expulsion. Mr. Oshea intentionally committed
fraud. As a law student, he cannot reasonably claim ignorance to the illegality of his actions.
Additionally, Mr. O Shea stole a sum of

Electronic Media And Sleep Research
Electronic Media and Sleep Over the years, electronic media has contributed different ways in the
modern society, especially young adults, who has been the largest group among media users. The
use of Electronic Media has recently raised a concern regarding to sleeping behaviors that are
presented among students around the world. Since the early 21st century, researchers have
conducted a study that shows the connection between electronic media and sleeping patterns with
young adults (Journal of Sleep Research, 2014, 389). As students increasingly continue their habits
of using Electronic Media as personal entertainment purpose, they are at a potential risk of
developing insufficient amount of sleep as well as encountering health problems. Even though
Electronic Media has given students access to their education and promote social network
connection, Electronic Media use should be limited at school because too much exposure to
Electronic Media can cause health problems and social isolation among young adults and the use of
electronic media interferes with students sleeping habits. This paper will explore two of the main
scholarly articles that are published in 2014 as well as an authoritative source with similar research
procedures that involves, among young adults exposure to electronic media while also examining
the change of sleeping pattern habits among university students. Tavernier, Royette Willoughby,
Teena (2014) examines the sleeping duration among the sample

Who is the best player in the soccer forever? There are many great player throughout the history

Current Ratio Of Tesco
3.1.1 Current ratio comparison
Current ratio measures whether a firm s has enough current assets to meet the current liabilities.
Current ratio is calculated dividing the current asset by current liabilities. The following figure
represents the current ratio of both J Sainsbury Plc. and Tesco Plc. Figure 1: current ratio of J
Sainsbury plc TescoPlc from 2013 to 2015
From the above figure it is seen that current ratio of Sainsbury was 0.610273 in 2013, which means
that it has 0.610273 current assets per ВЈ1 liabilities. This also means that it has less liquidity
compared to its current liability.
There was an increase in current ratio in 2014 at 0.644789 and this got slightly reduced in 2015 at
0.638596. Normally, current assets are used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
and red for Sainsbury Plc.
The ratio for Sainsbury almost doubled in 2014 from 2013 with the ratios being 0.293419 in
2013 and 0.4962306.in 2014. A new liability in the form of amounts due to Sainsbury s Bank
customers and banks was one of the main figures responsible for inflating the liabilities but current
assets increased at a higher rate, partly due to more assets from Sainsbury bank, leading to the
improvement in current ratio. This ratio was almost stagnant as the figure was 0.494583273 in 2015
In the case of Tesco ratios were 0.447462762, 0.470602791 and 0.466288831 in 2015, 2014 and
2013 respectively so the ratios more or less stayed the same with a slight dip in 2015. One
possible factor is that even though borrowings which form part of current liabilities increased
greatly from the year 2013 to 2014, assets in the form of short term investment was also made
which in fact was double of the year 2013. The combined figure for tax and provision was almost
the same in 2015 as it was in 2014 so possibly one of the main reasons for ratio dipping in 2015 is
the fact that short term investment was half of that of 2014.

Surgical Smoke Essay
Abstract
Surgical smoke is generated during the cutting or coagulation of tissue by a wide variety of
devices including laser, vessel sealing devices and electro cautery. Quantity of smoke generated is
variable based on the amount of tissue, open or closed procedure, device utilized and functional
temperature of the device. The contents of the smoke generated contain numerable volatile organic
compounds. Several carcinogenic particles have been isolated in surgical smoke. Both viral and
bacterial components have been identified in smoke particles. The size of particles in surgical
smoke is predominantly smaller than 2.5ВµM. Inhaled small particles have known negative health
effects. Smoke temperature was not identified as an evaluated vector of risk in the literature. The
literature does not definitively link surgical smoke exposure to injury or disease. Preventing
workplace exposure to tobacco smoke has reduced mortality. Operating room personnel are likely at
risk from chronic exposure to toxins, small particle inhalation and possible infectious transmissions
from smoke. Smoke evacuation systems can provide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

samples were collected from within 30 cm at the breathing height of the surgeons and anesthetic
technologist and evaluated by GCMS.14 20 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were
detected in the smoke.14 The study confirmed data found in several studies and identifies that
particles from electro cautery smoke often are in the size range of 0.3 up to 0.5 Вµm.6,7,9,10,14
Cancer risk was calculated as increased and above World Health Organization standards for both
personnel, primarily (89%) due to the particulate matter of the smoke versus the gaseous

Abdominal Pain Research Paper
The possible causes of abdominal pain are multiple. It is important to differentiate because some
causes can quickly become life threatening. Yet not only are there many, many causes of abdominal
pain in the abdomen; in addition, there are abdominal problems that cause referred pain elsewhere
in the body (commonly colic; and bloodor infection irritating the diaphragm commonly causes
shoulder pain), and there are problems elsewhere in the body that cause pain in the abdomen.
While a 20 year old man is more likely to have an acute condition (such as infection) causing
abdominal pain and a 50 year old man is more likely to have a chronic condition (such as IBD)
causing his abdominal pain, we cannot have a hard and fast rule because of age.... Show more

Peritonitis (inflammation of the peritoneum) can result from many causes, but itself causes the
influx of fluid into the peritoneum, resulting in severe dehydration and electrolyte imbalances,
leading to respiratory distress, kidney failure, liver failure, disseminated intravascular coagulation,
and death within days of onset. Laboratory and imaging tests are often not helpful, so can be
done last, to make the final differential diagnosis from the limited set of possibilities we are able
to determine after a complete history and physical. Normal lab results can occur even with
significant disease, and abnormal lab results can occur even with mild disease and may not be
specific enough to be diagnostic. An exception would be serum lipase, which would indicate
acute pancreatitis. CT scans are usually the most useful when there is significant abdominal pain,
but in emergency cases, the patient should probably proceed to surgery rather than wait for
imaging results. The high number of diagnoses to be ruled out in a patient presenting with
abdominal pain make them impossible to cover in a short paper. The reader is encouraged to
refer to the figure in the reference below regarding differential diagnoses based on the location of
the pain, a copy of which could be printed out and kept on hand as a diagnostic aid in the clinical

Analysis Of Sherwood Anderson s Hands
Sherwood Anderson Hands is a short story written by Sherwood Anderson. The action takes
place during the 1890s in Winesburg, Ohio, however, the writer takes you back to Pennsylvania
for the reader to understand the background of the story. The tone of the writer is serious. Hands
deals with the psychological trauma suffered by Adolph Myers, who later adopts the name of
Wing Biddlebaum after being driven out of his town in Pennsylvania by false accusations. I
think we can see how emotionally hurt and mentally disturbed Biddlebaum is. When Willard
asks him about his hands; Biddlebaum gets upset and remembers his students. You hear them
talk and you try to imitate them. He made the use of the word imitate probably because his
students jumped in the bandwagon of accusing him. Here and there went his hands, caressing the
shoulders of the boys, playing about the tousled heads. When I first started reading about how
caring he was for the boys, I suspected immediately of him. But the truth is that Adolph Myers
didn t have bad intentions. The touching of the hair were a part of the schoolmaster s effort to
carry a dream into the young minds. What I dislike is the injustice committed by these parents
and the people from the town. Instead of digging deeper to find out the truth they decided to
blame him when there was a lack of evidence to support the facts. Things are not always what they
look like and we should we careful of the things we say. It has been tested

  • 3. The Demand For Fossil Fuels With Earth s population continuing to grow, the demand for fossil fuels is increasing every day. In 2014, the United States alone consumed over 19 million barrels of oil a day. Not only is running out of these vital fuels a concern, but our ferocious appetite for fossil fuels is heating our planet at an alarming rate. While wind and solar power have been doing their part to cut back on the use of fossil fuels, it may be biology that allows us to finally cut the cord to fossil fuels. Recent studies into using biology as a renewable fuel have shown that an H2 producing bacteria called, Rhodopseudomonas palustris, and biodiesel producing algae may be the keys. R. palustris is unique in that it consumes electrons from iron and other metallic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... palustris produces H2 and uses and enzyme called nitrogenase to catalyze the reaction. However, most bacteria actually live in nitrogen deprived environments. The bacteria in those nitrogen deficient environments stop growing, while producing more H2 than the bacteria who have access nitrogen. The increased H2 production is due to a metabolic process called the tricarboxylic acid cycle. This cycle replaces the gyloxylate cycle that is used by R. palustris in nitrogen rich environments. In addition, the bacteria use the electrons they collected via EET to generate ATP in another process called cyclic photophosphorylation. When nitrogen is not available as a catalyst for H2 production, R. palustris can use electrons ingested from sources like iron to produce H2. The problem with using these electrons is that the process of H2 production will be in constant competition with the biosynthetic process of cyclic photophosphorylation, which also requires electrons to function (Mckinlay et al. 2013). The energy created from algae for biofuels is slightly less complicated than that of its bacterial cousin. Algae composition, by weight, is half lipid oil. Scientists have been studying this oil for decades to convert it into algae biodiesel this biodiesel burns cleaner and more efficiently than any petroleum based fuel (Stefani Newman How Algae Biodiesel Works 2008). The algae used in the production of diesel are grown in large open or closed ponds, the most popular and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Mass Incarceration And Its Effects On The United States Essay Mass incarceration is a major problem in the United States. Since the tough on crime movement that began to emphasize more punishment and creating new policies such as; three strikes law, truth in sentencing laws, mandatory sentencing, and determinate sentencing, our prisons and jails have become overcrowded. The three strikes law increases the prisonsentence of an offender convicted of three felonies or serious crime. Usually the punishment ranges from a minimum of 25 years to life in prison. The truth in sentencing laws require the offender to serve a substantial amount of their prison sentence (usually around 85 percent) before they are eligible for release on parole. The mandatory sentencing requires a minimum period of incarceration that the offender must serve regardless of the history of the offender or the nature of the circumstance. These get tough policies have implicated longer prison and jail sentences and has reduced the amount of discretion that the judges, parole/probation officers and prison and jail administrators. These actions have consequently increased the prison and jail population, which causes an increase in money spent on jails and prisons. The United States have moved away from rehabilitating offenders. Incarcerating offenders without trying to rehabilitate them only increases the chances of them returning back to jail or prison. The correctional system should focus their attention on rehabilitating offenders and looking at alternatives to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Last Night Of The World Chapter Summary What if the end of the world was tonight? Many people often worry about their last day of life on Earth; if it were to ever end. This fear tends to make people think about what they could do to make the best of their remaining time. This situation is shown in the short story The Last Night of the World by Ray Bradbury. In this story, there are two unnamed characters who talk about what they are thinking and feeling on their last day. These two characters connect with each other at a higher level, dealing with the last day of their existence together. The theme of this short story is to live life to the fullest while you can. If people live this way, then the end is less scary, and the journey there is more enjoyable. This theme is portrayed through the characters words, describing how they feel about the situation. The first way the theme emerges is in the girl s words. The girl is younger than the man and is more cautious about the matter. She isn t scared, but more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second way his words show is serenity with the situation is when he is describing the things he will miss. He says I won t miss a thing except perhaps the change in weather, and a glass of ice water when it s how, and I might miss sleeping (3). • 6. Nicholas Stoller s Neighbors When I got the invite to see Nicholas Stoller s work in progress comedy Neighbors back in February, I didn t know what to expect. Of course, I knew it was going to be raunchy but my main concern was whether the film would be actually funny. Seth Rogen s particular brand of comedy has been largely hit or miss with me as there are times where I ve found him too abrasive (like in 2011 s ill advised reimagining of venerable radio serial crime fighter the Green Hornet) but when he s in a role that plays to his strengths, he can be absolutely hilarious. Despite my mixed feelings on Rogen, the biggest wildcard in Neighbors was Zac Efron. Women specifically teenage girls may go crazy over his baby blue eyes and perfectly formed pecs and abs but as an actor, he s been less than impressive. With only the poster as my frame of reference, I went into the screening of Neighbors and came out ninety minutes later in pain...because I was laughing so hard! In fact, I enjoyed Stoller s film so much that I recently saw it a second time in its completed form, although the only things that were missing in the work in progress version was some post production effects and the end credits. We re barely two weeks into the summer movie season and already we have a strong contender for best comedyof 2014. • 7. Objectives Of Six Sigma SIX SIGMA: Six Sigma means a measure of quality that strives for near perfection. Six Sigma is a disciplined and data driven approach or methodology for eliminating defects (driving towards six standard deviations between the mean and the nearest specification limit) in any process , from manufacturing to transactional and from product to service. The statistical representation of Six Sigma describes quantitatively how a process is performing. To achieve Six Sigma, a process must not produce more than 3.4 defects per million opportunities. A defect is defined as any process output that does not meet customer specifications. The fundamental objective of the Six Sigma methodology is the implementation of a measurement based strategy that focuses on process improvement and variation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Six Sigma as a measurement standard in product variation can be traced back to the 1920 s when Walter Shewhart showed that three sigma from the mean is the point where a process requires correction. Many measurement standards (Cpk, Zero Defects, etc.) later came on the scene but credit for coining the term Six Sigma goes to a Motorola engineer named Bill Smith. (Incidentally, Six Sigma is a federally registered trademark of Motorola). In the early and mid 1980s with Chairman Bob Galvin at the helm, Motorola engineers decided that the traditional quality levels measuring defects in thousands of opportunities didn t provide enough granularity. Instead, they wanted to measure the defects per million opportunities. Motorola developed this new standard and created the methodology and needed cultural change associated with it. Six Sigma helped Motorola realize powerful bottom line results in their organization in fact, they documented more than $16 Billion in savings as a result of our Six Sigma ... • 8. John Stuart Mill The Harm Principle John Stuart Mill was an English philosopher and a progressive in British politics during the 17th century. He lived during a time of political transformation in England caused by the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution brought social mobility to the middle and lower class, along with more political participation. With this newfound freedom, the people of England felt their liberties were being diminished because they had the ability to accomplish all the more but in some cases, could not. This was just one question of libertybrought up during the time Mill was developing intellectually (Sparks 186). The largest and arguably most influential point Mill makes in his essay is that the harm principle does not only apply to the government anymore but to all of society. In making this argument he is defining societal values in that it shaped areas in which society must respect personal liberties. He constructs his statement on how the harm principle is applied to society in three parts. His first assertion pertains to the liberty of one s own mind. He states, the inward domain of consciousness; demanding liberty of conscience, in the most comprehensive sense; liberty of thought and feeling; absolute freedom of opinion and sentiment on all subjects, practical or speculative, scientific, moral, or theological (Mill 20). In saying this, Mill means that a person s liberty cannot be persecuted if they never act on them. Any thoughts a man may have are his own thoughts and he may think whatever he would like to think. This has shaped societal values because no one is truly obligated to share what they think today, nor is it a societal norm to criticize one s opinions if they differ from your own but it does happen. His second statement addresses the control one individual can have over another. He claims that an individual can plan their life as they please, and should not be met with the pressure of what others may see as being abnormal (Mill 20). By saying this, Mill expresses the ... Without her permission, Franklin s co worker, Maurice Wilkins, secretly showed her photos to the American scientist Watson. He and Francis Crick, his British research partner, were trying to build a DNA model. When Watson saw the photographs, he realized that DNA is a double stranded helix and the two were able to complete the model. In 1953, the same year Rosalind left Cambridge, both Wilkins and Franklin published papers on their X ray data in the same journal issue with Watson and Crick s paper on the structure of DNA. • 17. Forrest Gump Is The Portrayal Of A Man That Has Been... Introduction Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you re gonna get. Forrest Gump is the portrayal of a man that has been alienated from society, not because he is unintelligent or dimwitted, but rather because he is not restricted by the conventional ideals, which are embedded, within his culture; thus, Forrest challenges the conformities and principals that most people are accustomed to. The contrast that Robert Zemeckis, director of the film, is attempting to convey through the character of Forrest Gump is how most people are too smart for there own good; and thus, try to escape the realities and actualities of life. While other characters in the story are suppressed by society s conflicts, Forrest remains blinded to all; hence, he is able to live in the moment, rather than evading what is real. Forrest s unique selflessness and compelled nature to do what is right, as opposed to what is easy, are what our society incorrectly labels stupidity or ignorance. Zemeckis is obviously pointing out that an individual has no control over his or her own destiny and in order to live a noble life, must accept life as it is. I think it is very appropriate that Zemeckis begins his movie with the scene in which he does. Starting with Forrest s worn out and dirty shoes with a camera shot of a feather floating on the breeze foregrounds the entire movie. It is an obvious symbol for Forrest and the way he just casually makes his way through the worst of times ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Much of the knowledge the average American receives on a daily basis is through coverage in popular culture, and chemistry is simply not mentioned as often as the two other major sciences, biology and physics, on a daily basis. In fact, the only direct relationship most Americans have with chemistry is in a high school lab. A survey by the Royal Chemical Society, the oldest non profit chemistry society in the world boasting a membership of over 50,000, found the two most common words adults associate with the word chemistry are school and teacher. In this tale, we can see the concept towards marriage of women during her period. During the Nara Era, and some time before, the concept of marriage was totally different from the concept we know today. It is called Tsuma Toi Kon. Men and women generally had their own properties and estates. Sometimes women rejected men coming to visit them at their estates after the relationship began. On the other hand, men sometimes stopped visiting women. During the Heian era, traditional marriage was still strong. Also, in some cases, when a man stopped visiting a woman for a while, another man started visiting the woman. While the new man was still visiting, the old man might come back to visit the woman; two men might even meet each other. Visiting several women at a time was not considered rude during this era. To make matters worse, I have consistently bottled this shame up within myself and have not communicated or acknowledged its existence. By so doing I have allowed shame to flourish within me. When she was old enough she learned that her father was discriminated against due to his race and that joining the Canadian troops was a challenge for her father and his peers. Throughout this docu mentary, the director asks her father Alex Louie why he did not share stories with her as a child and why he felt the need to repress these memories. He states that he felt embarrassed and he did not want to burden his young daughter by telling her sad stories. Both characters care about their families and have gone through the same obstacles in the past, yet portray it in very different ways. In the documentary, Alex Louie and his peers interviewed are vocal about the obstacles they were put through, however they clearly state that they would not bring up the past if they were having a random conversation in a coffee shop on a normal day. This speaks volumes in terms of educating younger generations about the past. Aunt Emily in Obasan ensures that Naomi knows about the past however Obasan chooses to let it go and leave the past with the past. The deep question would be which character is doing the right thing, if the younger generations do not know about the past; they may lose some form of culture and not fully understand what their ancestors fought for. However, if they know too much about the past and constantly are reminded of it, then it may drive them away from their culture and traditions. The balance and limits are major problems in regards to the amount of information given to younger ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Reflection On The Seamstress The Seamstress dramatically changed how I viewed the Holocaust because it not only showed me how intolerable the conditions were, but also how poorly the Jews were treated. Before reading The Seamstress I did not fully grasp the concept of the Holocaust or the fact that the Jews were scared for their lives. My knowledge of the tragic event was very vague, and I didn t understand it was so horrific. Not only were the survivors extremely brave, but they also suffered unbearable scenarios which I, myself, do not believe I could withstand. Initially, the book showed me that the Jewswere despised, preyed upon, and often felt very unsafe just walkingin the street. It s very sad that people felt unsafe around their homes, and where they grew up. It s also sad that Jews were harrassed in the street and around their houses. I think you should be able to walk freely without being nervous to be taunted. The Jews, however, couldn t walk freely, were so often spit on, and called names by the Germans. Sadly, even the kids were being so mean to the Jews. I believe that hate and racism is taught, and the German s definitely taught their children to hate the Jews. The children often spit on the Jews walking in the streetsand called them names such as, dirty Jews, filthy pigs, or whores. As if it wasn t bad enough to suffer around their home, the... Student Code Of Professional Responsibility As members of Western College of Law, and, moreover, as members of the legal and academic communities, students must hold themselves to the highest standards of ethical behavior. An individual whose actions impugn the integrity of his self or herself necessarily impugn the integrity of the institutions and communities in which they are permitted membership. Moreover, those who would practice law have a sworn duty to the People, who must trust in the honor and integrity of their legal advocates and representatives. If the People lose faith in the law, the law loses its efficacy as a tool for the public good. Furthermore, it states, [a]ny criminal act that raises serious doubts about the accused student s honesty, integrity or fitness to practice law constitutes a violation of the student code. Mr. O Shea committed this act purposefully and knowingly in violation of section IV (B). The Committee should expel Mr. Oshea from Western College of Law. Admission to the State Bar will require that Mr. Oshea to prove that he [i]s a person of good moral character, which may be proved by any evidence satisfactory to the court. Furthermore, the State Bar often considers an applicant s financial integrity. In Application of Taylor, the Supreme Court of Oregon denied the applicant, relying heavily on the evidence that the he had committed theft and that he had exhibited dishonest financial practices. Mr. Oshea s offense covers both of these grounds with a single act. The Committee should apply the same logic to its decision. Though this recommendation is admittedly severe, the details Mr. Oshea s actions clearly warrant expulsion. Mr. Oshea intentionally committed fraud. As a law student, he cannot reasonably claim ignorance to the illegality of his actions. Additionally, Mr. O Shea stole a sum of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Electronic Media And Sleep Research Electronic Media and Sleep Over the years, electronic media has contributed different ways in the modern society, especially young adults, who has been the largest group among media users. The use of Electronic Media has recently raised a concern regarding to sleeping behaviors that are presented among students around the world. Since the early 21st century, researchers have conducted a study that shows the connection between electronic media and sleeping patterns with young adults (Journal of Sleep Research, 2014, 389). As students increasingly continue their habits of using Electronic Media as personal entertainment purpose, they are at a potential risk of developing insufficient amount of sleep as well as encountering health problems. Even though Electronic Media has given students access to their education and promote social network connection, Electronic Media use should be limited at school because too much exposure to Electronic Media can cause health problems and social isolation among young adults and the use of electronic media interferes with students sleeping habits. This paper will explore two of the main scholarly articles that are published in 2014 as well as an authoritative source with similar research procedures that involves, among young adults exposure to electronic media while also examining the change of sleeping pattern habits among university students. Current ratio is calculated dividing the current asset by current liabilities. The following figure represents the current ratio of both J Sainsbury Plc. and Tesco Plc. Figure 1: current ratio of J Sainsbury plc TescoPlc from 2013 to 2015 From the above figure it is seen that current ratio of Sainsbury was 0.610273 in 2013, which means that it has 0.610273 current assets per ВЈ1 liabilities. This also means that it has less liquidity compared to its current liability. There was an increase in current ratio in 2014 at 0.644789 and this got slightly reduced in 2015 at 0.638596. The ratio for Sainsbury almost doubled in 2014 from 2013 with the ratios being 0.293419 in 2013 and 0.4962306.in 2014. A new liability in the form of amounts due to Sainsbury s Bank customers and banks was one of the main figures responsible for inflating the liabilities but current assets increased at a higher rate, partly due to more assets from Sainsbury bank, leading to the improvement in current ratio. This ratio was almost stagnant as the figure was 0.494583273 in 2015 In the case of Tesco ratios were 0.447462762, 0.470602791 and 0.466288831 in 2015, 2014 and 2013 respectively so the ratios more or less stayed the same with a slight dip in 2015. One possible factor is that even though borrowings which form part of current liabilities increased greatly from the year 2013 to 2014, assets in the form of short term investment was also made which in fact was double of the year 2013. The combined figure for tax and provision was almost the same in 2015 as it was in 2014 so possibly one of the main reasons for ratio dipping in 2015 is the fact that short term investment was half of that of 2014. 3.2 Profitability indicator ... Quantity of smoke generated is variable based on the amount of tissue, open or closed procedure, device utilized and functional temperature of the device. The contents of the smoke generated contain numerable volatile organic compounds. Several carcinogenic particles have been isolated in surgical smoke. Both viral and bacterial components have been identified in smoke particles. The size of particles in surgical smoke is predominantly smaller than 2.5ВµM. Inhaled small particles have known negative health effects. Smoke temperature was not identified as an evaluated vector of risk in the literature. • 48. Analysis Of Sherwood Anderson s Hands Sherwood Anderson Hands is a short story written by Sherwood Anderson. The action takes place during the 1890s in Winesburg, Ohio, however, the writer takes you back to Pennsylvania for the reader to understand the background of the story. The tone of the writer is serious. Hands deals with the psychological trauma suffered by Adolph Myers, who later adopts the name of Wing Biddlebaum after being driven out of his town in Pennsylvania by false accusations. I think we can see how emotionally hurt and mentally disturbed Biddlebaum is. When Willard asks him about his hands; Biddlebaum gets upset and remembers his students. You hear them talk and you try to imitate them. He made the use of the word imitate probably because his students jumped in the bandwagon of accusing him. Here and there went his hands, caressing the shoulders of the boys, playing about the tousled heads. When I first started reading about how caring he was for the boys, I suspected immediately of him. But the truth is that Adolph Myers didn t have bad intentions. The touching of the hair were a part of the schoolmaster s effort to carry a dream into the young minds. What I dislike is the injustice committed by these parents and the people from the town. Instead of digging deeper to find out the truth they decided to blame him when there was a lack of evidence to support the facts. Things are not always what they look like and we should we careful of the things we say. It has been tested ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
