Gustar – To like
A very important and useful verb in Spanish
Gustar – To like
It is not conjugated in the normal way instead it
needs object pronouns. These pronouns go in
front of gustar.
Gustar – To like
These are the object pronouns (in blue):
me gusta I like
te gusta You like
le gusta He/she/you polite like
nos gusta We like
os gusta You plural like
les gusta They like
Gustar – To like
Gustar has only two forms: gusta and gustan
•We use gusta when what we like is singular
Example: Me gusta el chocolate
Le gusta el tenis
•We use gustan when what we like is plural or several singular nouns
Example: Me gustan los animales
Le gustan los perros y los gatos
Te gustan las camisetas

Step 1: You and your partner are to
translate the following sentences into
Spanish. Then explain why you chose the
form of “gustar” (gusta/gustan) and the
object pronoun (me, te, le)
Step 2: You and your partner are to answer
the following questions:
1. I like pizza.
2. I like sandwiches.
3. She likes to study.
4. He doesn’t like dogs.
5. Do you like Spanish?
6. You like dogs (los perros)

Imagine you are sitting down to eat dinner with some friends or family. In five sentences,
tell what at the table belongs to each person. (hermano/a, madre, padre, amigo/a)
Example:
