Keeping its promise to progressively contribute towards a cleaner and greener planet, India’s largest global flexible packaging solution company Uflex has rolled out natural resource conservation initiatives
Presents the theme of World Environment Day 2015 with a focus on consumption, its impact on the environment and checking environmental degradation by avoiding waste.
Organic producers and food farmers develop and produce food outwardly utilizing artificial chemicals such as pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. They do not use genetically modified (GM) elements or expose food to irradiation.
Animal welfare and environmental sustainability are major concerns for organic producers. The phrase ‘organic’ can also cover animal goods. For instance, eggs certified as organic are free-range, rather than from caged (battery) hens.
Kinds of organic products available in Australia include eggs, meat and meat products, grains, dried legumes, honey, fruit and vegetables, dairy foods, and some prepared foods.
Presentation on success stories and challenges ahead to make global agriculture more climate smart. Brownbag presentation in the WorldBank on 15th May by Andy Jarvis from the CCAFS program of the CGIAR.
A look inot the histroy of Permaculture adn its roots. Then a look into the state of the world very briefly. Following that an examination of each of the principles laid out by Bill Mollison in the book Introduction to Permaculture. Finally ending with a few pictures that provide looks into Permaculture Management techniques reflecting these design principles.

Working with data is a challenge for many organizations. Nonprofits in particular may need to collect and analyze sensitive, incomplete, and/or biased historical data about people. In this talk, Dr. Cori Faklaris of UNC Charlotte provides an overview of current AI capabilities and weaknesses to consider when integrating current AI technologies into the data workflow. The talk is organized around three takeaways: (1) For better or sometimes worse, AI provides you with “infinite interns.” (2) Give people permission & guardrails to learn what works with these “interns” and what doesn’t. (3) Create a roadmap for adding in more AI to assist nonprofit work, along with strategies for bias mitigation.

INTRODUCTION.
• Dajopen Waste
Management was started to
address the Socio-
Economic, Environmental
conditions of the vulnerable
communities of the Slums,
the Youth & Women , while
addressing the plight of
small scale farmers through
making of organic fertilizer
and other recycled products
from waste.
• With the support

BENEFITS/IMPACT
• Through BEACON empowerment, we were able to have more farmers to use
organic fertilizer which has led to increased soil fertility and high crop yields
and high water retention which assist the crop to withstand rain shortage and
root aeration due to the organic Bio-mass(carbon).
• The project focuses on the environmental, social economic challenges to the
community especially from the slum areas using collected garbage for
economic purposes and in process reduce solid waste streams that breed toxic
material and pathogenic organisms into dumpsites and land fills thereby
contaminating land and surface water.

IMPORTANT ASPECT
OF THE PROJECT
• The project cleans and conserves the environment, while it keeps
the Estates and other areas habitable as per HIC policy. This will
ensure our homes are free from diseases like malaria, typhoid and
cholera which are caused by the mosquitoes, flies and rodent in
the garbage heaps.
• It corrects the soil acidity, whereby 5grams of organic fertilizer has
scientifically proven of having 6 billion microbial lives, thus enables
the soil to release nutrients which increases the crop yield. Besides
high crop yield, it also assists the crop to withstand abiotic and
biotic factors, while changing the soil from disease inducing to
disease suppressing soil

METAL WASTE
From the Urban and Slums’ waste, we collect assorted metal waste. A good
example is a simple hand Maize Sheller above, has enabled small scale farmers
to shell high quality maize kernel for storage.
