TYPES OF SOLID METERS GRAVEMETRIC BELT BELT WITH NUCLEONIC SENSOR VERTICAL GRAVEMETRIC LOSS IN WEIGHT DUAL HOPPER IMPULSE VOLUMETRIC DYNAMIC ACCLERATOR CROSS-CORRELATION
GRAVEMETRIC BELT SOLID FLOW METER Vertical gate feeders suitable for non-fluidized materials with particle size <3mm 0.5R <25kg/s Or <0.3m3/s Type of material Accuracy Flow rate
Belt with nucleonic sensor Preferred when materials are difficult to handle such as corrosive, hot, dusty or abrasive. 0.5 to 1.0 <25 kg/s Type of material Accuracy Flow rate
Vertical gravimetric Dry and free-flowing powders with particle size <2.5mm 0.5-1.0 Limited capacity Type of material Accuracy Flow rate
Loss in weight solid flow meters Liquids, slurries and solids 1.0 R Depends on size of hopper Type of material Accuracy Flow rate
Dual hopper solid flow meter Free flowing bulk solids 0.5R 0.13-40 Type of material Accuracy Flow rate
Impulse type solid flow meters Free flowing powders. granules <13mm 1 to 2 0.4-400 Type of material Accuracy Flow rate
Volumetric solid flow meters Solids of uniform size 2 to 4 <0.3 m3/s Type of material Accuracy Type of material
Dynamic solid flow meters These unit detect either the forces needed to initiate the dynamic state by accelerating the solid or the forces resulting from the impact of falling solid.
Accelerator type solid flow meters The solid stream enters the accelerator section of meter by gravity. The accelerator is driven at constant speed and as the entering solids are accelerated. They create a corresponding torque. Variation in torque is measured by torque transducer. And amplified so that transmission signal becomes directly proportional to mass flow rate of solid.
Cross-correlation solid flow meter The concept f cross-correlation is based on tagging. It consists of injecting some particles, dye , a radioactive material or a pulse of any other form and measuring the time it take for such a tag to travel a known distance.
