Leon and Snowball Comparison
George Orwell, writer of the book Animal Farm captures important aspects of the Russian
Revolution and portrays them in a humorous and more understandable way. Each animal represents
an important person or event that happened during this time. Snowball is a pig that lives on Mr.
Jones farm who is enthralled at the idea of a Revolution and one of the main animals to help get it
going. The inspiration for his character was from important revolutionist, Leon Trotsky. Snowball
was modeled after him, showing most of his character trails and interest. Most of the people and
events that look place throughout Trotsky s life are also incorporated in Snowball s life. Orwell s
imagination ran wild as he wrote this memorable story so that he might... Show more content on

When he got out, he helped tremendously with the founding of the Soviet Union and organized
the Red Army. As he left to help other city s form their own union he was arrested and sentenced
to life without rights but he escaped after ten years. From then he was head of the Red Army and
Commissioner of War. In the Battle of Cowshed, Snowball, so greatly led the animals just as his
comparison did with the Red Army. Trotsky traveled around rapidly trying to spread the
revolution Snowball sent pigeons around too tell everyone about what was happening. In the
beginning Snowball and Napoleon were on good terms but as things progress and Napoleon
realizes that Snowball is by passing him in everything he kicks him out. Then throughout the
rest of Animal Farm is trying to kill him. These two had the same relationship as Stalin and
Trotsky. Never agreeing and great at many things Trotsky is then kicked out by Stalin and Stalin
tries too assassinate Trotsky on many occasions. In the end both truly just wanted a better society
and just wanted there views to be known. Animalism is a system in which the animals made up

Hunger, Malnutrition, And Famine
According to recent statistics from the United Nations World Food Program, 795 million people
across the globe, suffer from the effects of being undernourished ( Food Program, 2015, para. 1).
Both hunger and malnutrition serve to be the number one risk to health and well being, more so
than Aids, Tuberculosis, and Malaria combined ( FoodProgram, 2015, para. 1). Although the planet
produces enough food to feed everyone (Wright Boorse, 2014), hunger, malnutrition, and famine
continue to adversely affect people in both developed and developing nations. Children are
particularly susceptible to the ill effects of hunger and malnutrition as stunting or growth failure,
aside for disease, is the leading cause of abnormal growth development in children ( Stunting, n.d.).
In July of 2015, while serving as a health care provider, at a two day medical clinic in the
impoverished town of Suscal, Ecuador, a fairly young woman sought my treatment for her 12 year
old son who was suffering the consequences of chronic diarrhea from a parasitic infection
contracted by drinking contaminated water. Besides chronic diarrhea, the child also suffered the
after effects of the Hepatitis B virus, which was contracted by eating contaminated food. Most
stunning was the child s clinical presentation of being underdeveloped and underweight for a
normal 12 year old. Even more alarming was the fact that the child was missing both maxillary
incisors. Through an interpreter, the mother inquired as

EDM Culture
Millennial Values in EDM Culture
While elements of the millennial mindset like acceptance and kindness were found in the early
stages of Electronic Dance Music, those values are truly evident in this modern EDM culture.
Kindness:
EDM has rebranded itself from the original drugs and underground stigmas that it has come to be
associated with. The basics of why it was created, acceptance and community integration have
been rebranded as PLUR for the current generation. PLUR stands for Peace Love Unity and
Respect. It is often called the new hippy movement and related festivals are branded as the new
Woodstock . EDM Festivals such as the Electric Daisy Carnival promote a strict no drug policy.
[Under the Electric Sky]
Moral Responsibility:
An essential part of EDM s rise to fame in this generation has to do with tech boom. New
technology is everywhere. Electric is a key word that both symbolizes technology and creates a
high energy feeling. Artists feel a new moral responsibility to distribute free or cheap music. Many
popular EDM DJ s such as Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, and Paul Oakenfield operate free podcast
where they stream their new music for free. The music sharing platform SoundCloud often pays
DJ s to submit their own work, and YouTube is also a main player for free new music releases....

[Forbes] The biggest mark of the millennial generation is the development, use, and implementation
of technology. According to a survey performed by the Nielson Company, technology use ranked
the highest when Millennials were asked what makes their generation unique. Phones are available
at the palm of your hand. And with these and other portable devices being internet capable, any
information, including clips, reviews, and sounds, can quickly be accessed. It only makes sense
that the music of the generation reflects this huge generational differentiation

The Influence Of Ralph Miliband s View On Marxist Theory
2. Ralph Miliband s View on Marxist Theory of the State
2. 1. Introduction
This chapter aims to present Ralph Miliband s view on the Marxist theory of the state. Miliband, as
stated by Newman (2007) was probably the most influential Marxist political sociologist writing in
English in the second half of the twentieth century, his works simultaneously contributing both to
the academic research agenda and to student protest movements of the era. (p. 176).
One of his most popular books is The State in Capitalist Society . The major goal of this book is
to refute the pluralism claim a dominant paradigm in the western political science when the book
was published that power is dispersed among a large number of competing groups in society and
the government was open to influence by competing parties and groups . (Newman, 2007, p. 76).
In his book, Miliband s criticism against the pluralists is clearly stated in the Introduction chapter,
One of the main purposes ... to show in detail that the pluralist democratic view of society, of
politics and of the state in regard to the countries of advanced capitalism, is in all essentials wrong

Cultural Memory, The Mgr Murder Trial
Cultural Memory and the Sri Lankan Civil War in Shobaskthi s short story, The MGR Murder Trial
By
Dr Preetha Vasan .
Abstract : This paper looks at the intersection of cultural memory, war and literary narrative in
the specific context of the civil wars that raged Sri Lanka. It would consider the dynamics of
cultural memory of an ethnic minority group during a civil war. To achieve this , the paper would
attempt a close study of Shobasakthi , the Tamil Eelam writer s titular short story The MGR
Murder Trial from his short story anthology. The use of a popular cultural icon is deliberate in the
story. The paper would consider the symbolism of this usage and thereby arrive at the author s
response to the civil war Assmann and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
War has many fall outs. Like the Nigerian poet John Pepper Clark Bekederemo states The
casualties are not only those who are dead . Literary writings have represented many facets of
war ranging from the great epics like The Mahabharatha to our postcolonial postmodern writings
on terrorism, genocide and exile. In order to understand the context of the narrative of
Shobasakthi s story , it is necessary to briefly consider the many trajectories of the Sri Lankan
civil war. Sometimes called the pearl of the Indian Ocean, meaning resplendent in Sinhala, once
described by travellers as a paradise and named by Arab seafarers as Serendib, Sri Lanka was what
an Eighteenth Century writer had in mind when he coined the word serendipity .However the
nation s gruesome and protracted civil wars have reduced these myriad nomenclatures to the
poignant Tear drop in the Indian Ocean. In the Sri Lankan context multiple historicisations, various
narratives of the same history occur since the nation is marked by a diversity of ethnic, religious
and linguistic identities. These include Sinhalese, Sri Lankan Tamils, Indian Tamils, Muslim
moors, Tamil Christians, and the Eurasian Burghers. Historians, political science scholars
Richardson, Stokke and others have located different reasons for the civil strife in Sri Lanka to
understand why and how simmering ethnic differences escalated into a full scale insurgency

Education of the Black Male in America Essay
Today s education is often viewed as failing in its goal of educating students, especially those
students characterized as minorities, including African American, Hispanic, and Appalachian
students (Quiroz, 1999). Among the minority groups mentioned, African American males are
affected most adversely. Research has shown that when Black malestudents are compared to other
students by gender and race they consistently rank lowest in academic achievement (Ogbu, 2003),
have the worst attendance record (Voelkle, 1999), are suspended and expelled the most often
(Raffaele Mendez, 2003; Staples, 1982), are most likely to drop out of school, and most often fail to
graduate from high school or to earn a GED (Pinkney, 2000; Roderick, 2003).... Show more content

There is no single overriding factor to explain this lack of success, but most scholars and researchers
point out that beginning in the colonial era and continuing through most of our nation s history, the
experiences of Black males in White society have been so negative and psychologically damaging
(Pinkney, 2000; Staples, 1982) that they have given birth to and nurtured a deep seated and
tenacious belief in their own, and the entire Black community s, inferiority. At the beginning of this
history, Black male slaves were looked upon by White society as the most undesirable and least
trust worthy of people, and they were treated accordingly. Black male slaves were closely
associated with and compared to animals, and were said to have a deceptive and violent nature and
to be uncontrollable and in need of the whip (Kunjufu, 1986). Given this formative experience in
slavery, the fact that Black males have continued to be disadvantaged from birth to death throughout
our nation s short history hardly seems to need explanation.
A Broader Problem that plagues Black males are not totally the responsibility of the public
schools, but are a responsibility of society as a whole (Delpit, 1995). We can say, however, that
the public schools do play a major role in addressing the problems of Black male students. The
educational experiences and the support services afforded Black male students could play an

When The Deceased Was Married Or Had Children
It is much easier to file a wrongful death lawsuit when the deceased was either married, in a
common law marriage or domestic partnership or had children. The children do not even have to
be biologically related to the deceased to file a wrongful death claim; step children may also file a
wrongful death lawsuit. The children can also be minors or adults.
In the case that the deceased was married, had children or both, their spouse and children can file
for survival action, pre death pain, emotional suffering, as well as the loss of future economic
benefits.
If an adult loved one passed away, consult with a Washington state wrongful death attorney to
determine if you, or anyone, has legal grounds to file a wrongful death lawsuit on your behalf. A
qualified lawyer will be able to guide you through the process and determine who has the biggest
chance from the survivors of the deceased in successfully pursing a wrongful death

Gun Control Controls Nothing Essays
More and more frequently, we are saddened by the news of mass shootings. Whether it takes
place in a school or public area, these shootings are both disastrous and mortifying. Families begin
to feel anger and sadness, and demand immediate justice. Although these terrible events continue
to happen, there have been no significant steps taken towards the reduction in the number of
weapons; specifically assault rifles. This leads one to question do we need to ban the right to
possess such weapons? If the possession of these weapons is not made illegal, we run the risk of
another attack. While there is no questioning the severity of these mass shootings, a ban on assault
rifles is not the answer because they are not the cause of such events,... Show more content on

The bill definitely has good intentions, but the fact of the matter is that these shootings are
anomalies. Since 2006, there have only been six cases in which ten or more people were killed
in a given shooting (USA Today). Therefore, these are not common events. At less than once per
year for the last seven years, it is something that might even go unnoticed had there not been a
great deal of news coverage following such events. To add to that, out of the 231 mass killings in
the United States in the last seven years, only a mere thirty two of these cases have been due to
guns (USA Today). This means that there are many more important issues than assault rifles
when it comes to the prevention of mass shootings. One of the main issues with mass shootings
is not the guns but the people who wield the guns. In the United States, less than six percent of
people are considered to have serious mental disorders (National Institute of Mental Health). Less
than one percent of that number would even be at the risk of committing as catastrophic a crime
as a mass shooting. This is the type of person who would do such a thing. Again, this is not
common at all. We are talking about a handful of people in the whole country, yet news coverage
and popular opinion makes it out to be a common event. Seung Hui Cho, the Virginia Tech
Massacre killer who murdered 32 people on

Lila reclaims her child from her mother in law and leaves the reservation. Ray makes a phone call
to her child to explain her situation and tell him that Lila will be there to take care of her children.
Police promise that, as a white woman with no criminal record, Ray will be freed from jail in
several months as long as she cooperates. Lila arrives at Ray s house and sees Ray s children
playing.
Structure
The structure of this film is conventional because the story is told in a chronological order, which
makes the film realistic. A series of incidents that happen during their river crossings show Ray and
Lila s terrors and desires, and the more they notice these emotions, the more they gain self revelation
through the jobs.
The script ends with character s personal transformations as Ria and Lila decide to go against their
character. Ray and Lila s actions and decisions result from their transformations through the
sequence of the script.
However, the film s resolution is inconclusive. The script begins with Ray searching for her run
away husband, and yet by the end of the script, audiences are unsure what happened to the husband.
Character
Although Ray and Lila are racially different, both are single mothers struggling to live with mere
wages. When their economic necessity meets, they get involved in immigrant s border crossing so
as to survive in urban poverty. Throughout the

The Poetry of Wallace Stevens
Though Wallace Stevens commonly uses a blank verse writing style in his poetry, staying true to
the style s definition of unrhymed lines with consistent meter, Sunday Morning differs from the
poet s other work as he maintains consistency in stanza structure as well. Here, each of the eight
stanzas consists of 15 feet and contain 10 beats per line (classic iambic pentameter). This extremely
organized structure seems ironic, as the poem s theme involves the death of Christianity and
organized religion. However, it also lends to Stevens message of the importance of life and death,
and the immaculate natureand consistency seen in earth s life cycles. Sunday Morning is an
example of Wallace Stevens romantic period writing style, as he articulates the human connection
to nature and the existence of spirituality within ones physical surroundings.
The uncompromising structure of the poem provides a meditative rhythm (showing Stevens
connection to Milton and the romanic era) as the speaker reflects on the relationship between
oneself and the natural environment. Simultaneously, Stevens use of blank verse and inclusion of
both enjambments and end stopped lines allows for artistic exploration, mirroring a human thought
pattern and the speaker s mental exploration of personal beliefs. The syntax resembles a racing
mind, as the sentence structure is the only aspect of the poem that does not follow a strict pattern.
This is evident as the speaker ponders a Pagan perspective,

Comparison Of Buddhism And Taoism
Taoism and Buddhism are China s two major religions. Taoism is a Chinese philosophical,
religious, and spiritual belief system that teaches one to flow with life and to be true to one s
nature. Taoism is one of China s five religions. It is one of three philosophical teachings which also
include Buddhism, and Confucianism. Taoism began in the in the late 4th century BC under the
work of Laozi, in the Tao Te Ching. Tao means way and Taoism is sometimes expressed as the
flow of the universe. Taoism s central value is naturalness, which one achieves by freeing
themselves from desire and selfish thoughts and behaviors and embracing simplicity in life. Taoism
is also sometimes referred to as Daoism.
Taoism teaches that trusting one s instincts and gut is the path to finding one s true nature. Taoism
has survived as long as it has it has because it teaches to adapt to which allows followers to
embrace modern culture rather than fight it. The three most popular ancient Taoist works include
Tao Te Ching written by Laozi, and one written by Lieh Tzu, and another written by Chuang Tzu.
Taoism teaches to reject hate, to reject intolerance, and to live with compassion, harmony, and
balance in one s life.
Violence is considered to be a last resort in Taoism. Taoism can help one to decrease stress in their
life, which is known to cause illness. Taoism teaches that bad deeds and sin result in illness. The

Gender Stereotypes In Disney Films
Discussion In the current study, we sought to analyze the portrayal of gender stereotypical
behaviors in Disney films. We developed this study based on previous findings from Kirsch and
Murnen (2013), (Junn,1997), and Leaper et al (2002) and because of the potential implications of
Disney s portrayal of genderstereotypes in their films. We developed two hypotheses to test this.
First, we hypothesized that malecharacters would exhibit masculine stereotypical behaviors such as
giving orders and being aggressive, more often than feminine stereotypical behaviors and women
would display feminine stereotypical behaviors such as performing domestic duties and primping,
more often than masculine stereotypical behaviors in Disney movies. Second, we hypothesized that
women would have more fluidity in these Disney films, meaning they are more likely to exhibit
masculine stereotypical behaviors as compared to males demonstrating feminine stereotypical
behaviors. According to our results, we failed to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

stereotypical behaviors observed and made it clearer which gender was more likely to exhibit
them. We only watched 5 of the over 150 Disney produced films and thus perhaps our results are
by chance. If we increased our sample size, then we might have increased our chances of finding
gender stereotypical behaviors, as has been discovered in many studies. Our study may have

Trichinella spiralis cause disease in humans? Why might ingesting this organism be more
dangerous than ingesting a beef tapeworm? a. Once the Trichinella spiralis is ingested it goes
through the body into the stomach, and encounters pepsin and gastric acid. Once this occurs larva
is released and travels into the small bowel mucosa where they mature into adult worms. The adult
worms then travel into the striated muscle an encyst into the body where they may live for years.
Compared to beef tapeworms Trichinella is far more dangerous, due to the potential that the larva
will migrate to the brain, this may cause very serious symptoms such as epilepsy or even death.

Hip Hop vs Punk
The fashion aspect in Hip Hop and Punk is very distinctive. Throughout Hips Hop s history, the
fashion trends have evolved, but the concept of Hip Hop fashion has always remained
conceptually unchanged. This has given birth to a few varieties among Hip Hop fashion according
to their respective generations and choice of self expression through the four pillars of Hip Hop
which are Bboying (dance), MC/Rap (music), DJ (music) and Graffiti Art (visual art). The varieties
of fashion within the Punk culture differ from Hip Hop in a different aspect. While Hip Hop s

houses and garages are because of the cold weather, rainy downfall, and because of floods. The
rodents go up to the houses in order to get warm and dry areas in the house where they may have

usually surfaces when the killer is in his mid to late 20 #8217;s and the first murder is usually the
result of a #8220;precipitating stressor #8221; some event that pushes him over the edge

kill their first victim, they may experience some remorse but after they kill again their remorse
dwindles and they enjoy the kill and the high that goes along with it. Once the murder hunt

Scarlet Ibis Theme
The Scarlet Ibis Analysis Theme Essay The story by James Hurst, The Scarlet Ibis , creates a theme
that is identified in many parts of the story. From the beginning to the end, it can be proposed that
character, irony, symbolism are the main supporting elements for the theme. In The Scarlet Ibis
James Hurstuses character, irony, and symbolism to reveal his theme: Conflict between love and
pride. To elaborate, the author creates a great description on how character helps with the
overall theme. The story is set in Eastern North Carolina the early 1900s, and it explains on how
the character Doodle s brother feels about his sibling. It was said in the story that Doodle s
brother disliked having his brother with him because he was ashamed of having someone that
could not walk or swim with him. In addition, it could be seen that even from the beginning of the
main characters story that Doodle s brother disapproved of his younger brother, It was bad enough

First of all, the scarlet ibis has many meaning throughout the story. To start off, the scarlet ibisthat
had died represents how small and fragile it was like Doodle, but what most importantly should
be seen is that the bird was in a place that it should not be at when it arrived at Doodle s yard. Just
like the bird, Doodle was out of place because he was different from everyone else, he was
fragile. Also, when Doodle had died, his brother stands by his brother and cries about his death.
He had been bleeding from the mouth, and his neck and the front of his shirt were stained a
brilliant red (Hurst 426). Just like the scarlet ibis, Doodle ends up dying on the same way. With his

Social Media Communication And The Power Of Online...
In the world of technology communication has become easier than ever. The world has now
shrunk from a vast populated land to a network of communicating individuals living in a global
village. People from all over the globe have come closer together and distances have decreased to
the extent that an individual is merely a click away.
In this ever growing network of people a new theory has emerged, the idea of 6 degrees of
separation. The idea behind this is that between you and any another person in the world is only a
chain no longer than six people. This emphasizes the significance of online communication and the
way it has made the world a whole lot smaller.
This is the power of social media and the developments in online communication. A happening in
one part of the world reaches to the second part in a matter of seconds. Imagine if that news or
happening was about you. The significance of this technology is the ease it provides. Using this
tool to your advantage can give you a large number of benefits.
Social Media Marketing brings global fame to your name.
This is your ticket to international level fame. Your company or your name could be known

Effects Of Obesity On The United States
Introduction According to the Center of Diseases and Control Center facts, during the previous
20 years, there has been a dramatic increase of weight in the United States and the rate continues
to remain high. With the estimate of more than 33% of the United States adults (34.9%) and
pretty near 17% or (12.7 million) of kids and youths matured 2 19 years of age are obese (CDC,

Benefits Of Payroll Outsourcing
Payroll outsourcing can save companies time and money. It allows the business to not waste man
hours handling a function that doesn t bring in any revenue. The cost of payroll processing is
greatly reduced by using a payroll service company. It usually costs more to pay an employee to
handle the payroll than it would cost to outsource to a professional company.
Another cost savings of outsourcing is avoiding penalties and fees from the IRS and state if a tax
filing or payment is submitted late or incorrectly. In the event that an error does occur most payroll
service companies will pay the penalties and interest that are accrued.
Payroll companies [http://www.apluspayrollservice.com] stay up to date on the newest tax tables
and tax laws. Tax laws are constantly changing and payroll companies stay on top of the new
changes to keep the business out of trouble. Payroll companies offer services like direct deposit

Monty Python Satire Essay
In the film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, a confabulation took place between a nonsensical
King Arthur and a soldier with a keen interest in birds. In Monty Python and the Holy Grail we see
everyday acts of chivalry, being hilariously mocked. What, ridden on a horse?
Yes!
You re using coconuts!
What?
You ve got two empty halves of coconuts and you re bangin em together.
This is a prime example of satire directed at chivalry today. People seem to think that chivalry is
rooted so far in the past that it s gone. I can say that it may be gone from some minds, but
definitely not all. To be a good and true knight, a man had to follow certain ideals, ideals of
chivalry and courtly love. That consisted of, being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through means of this story, chivalry seems like a perfect ideal that everyone can and should do,
but in Monty Python and the Holy Grail viewers can see that maybe chivalry was sort of silly and
kind of hard to follow. In the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail they satirize the sort of
chivalry shown in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. For example, while Sir Gawain was
honorable and brave, Python s Arthur and his men were exactly the opposite. Arthur and his men
ran away from danger, they ran away when the French castle threw whole animals at them, they
ran away from the killer bunny and Sir Robin ran away when he realized that he was not going to
win the battle against the three headed knight. Clearly, the characters in Monty Python and the
Holy Grail didn t exhibit any of the ideals of chivalry. Chivalry was also well represented and
adored in the film Knights of the Round Table. In the film we see many chivalric acts take place,
but one act that I focused on was, when Arthur and Sir Lancelot were unknowingly fighting in the
woods. The film shows Arthur getting his sword stuck in a tree and Sir Lancelot getting it out for
him. So the chivalric idea of fighting a fair fight is shown when Sir Lancelot helps his opponent,
instead of just taking the advantage and winning. Once again this aspect of chivalry was

The Benefits Of Geothermal Energy
Throughout history, society has been looking for ways to increase renewable energy to provide
better resources to replace fossil fuels to reduce carbon footprints. The earth is a great source of
natural energy therefore thermal energy is one of the most abundant resources. There are many
types of renewable energy, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat.
Geothermal heat renewable energy converts natural heat into electricity resources. Geothermal
energy represents the inner heat of the earth s core. Geothermal energy is mainly produced by
decays of radioactive elements in the mantle and the center of the earth s layers. Heat is constantly
flowing from the Earth center to the surface creating a great source of natural energy. These
geothermal powerplants drill wells into geothermal tanks to transfer hot water and steam from the
earth s core to the surface. One great advantage of geothermal energy is that using the resources of
water and steam, you are able to reuse and pump back the supplies into the ground. Another perk of
using geothermal energy is that the energy is clean. Geothermal energy is environmental friendly
because the power plants don t use fossil fuels.
Some of the largest geothermal projects are located in Imperial Valley, California. It has eleven
power plants built near the San Andreas Fault. These power plants are owned and operates by a
company called CalEnergy Operating Corporation and are producing more than seven hundred

Some of the characters I like are penelope, jaime, and maribella. I like them because they are nice

who hurt people for the fun of it. Maribella made a big mistake but Jaime forgave her because he
knew she did it for a good reason and not for the fun of it. I love people like this because it shows

Everyone in the office has known set guideline of what their daily tasks that they are to

things can get hectic and, usually during our morning meetings, but after that the mood dissolve
and disappear. There is a front desk as you walk in the front door, since I have started at the
agency there is no one there. For the most part there is no need for a receptionist. None of our
clients physically come into our offices. We go to them, in the comfort of their home. This is
because our clients are our clients because of terminal or chronically ill patients. We are there to
provide a comfortable life. With there being so many workers in and out of the office, whoever
is working from the office, becomes the receptionist. I m defining the Receptionist role as
answering the phone. Our phones ring constantly. When our patients have questions, are
concerns, it is the quickest way to get a hold of us. While each of the workers who visit the
patients has a cell the office is also another way of contacting us. It is fundamentally important
that our patients and patient s families can always get in contact with us. We as a company are

uses words to shape the group of students. Professor Tolsons teaching methods and his political

California s Three-Strike Law
The Three Strikes Law has three different components. Just like marriage, driving, and educational
laws the Three Strikes law has its own version in every state. Unfortunately California s Three
Strikes law is causing the most controversy. The three parts in California s law are the defendant s
record of prior convictions, the current charge and the minimum punishment the defendant is
facing. A man or woman has to be convicted of two felonies and charged with another one before
the Three Strikes law can come into play. Dictionary.com defines a felonyas an offense, as murder
or burglary, of graver character than those called misdemeanors, especially those commonly
punished in the U.S. by imprisonment for more than a year (Brauchli).
The first strike that someone has on their record has to be from a serious or violent crime. Some of
the controversy derives from what the law considers a serious offense. The second strike
happens when there was a prior conviction that was a violent or serious crime. When a suspect is
facing his or her second strike the required time is doubled. For example, if the court gave
someone seven years for a felony, they would receive fourteen years. When a person receives their
third strike on their record with any felony conviction their time jumps up to twenty five to life.
The offender can not receive parole until eighty percent or twenty years of their time is served
(Brauchli).
A considerable amount of people have received a twenty five to

Trend continued well into the Anglo Burmese war of 1824. Burma lost and as a result had to cede
of its land to British India. By 1885, the entirety of Burma was a province of British India until
1937 when it became a crown colony of Britain . It wasn t until Japan invaded Burma in the 1940s
that the Burmese were able to successfully resist foreign rule. Even in its Colonial period there was
a lack of widespread internal stability, this would create the trend that would theoretically justify the

Burma officially gained its independence from Britain in 1948 by negotiations lead by nationalist

Comparison Of War And Doolittle s To Helen
Helen of Troy is well known for many reasons. Today, writers allude to the beautifully Mysterious
woman who notoriously broke hearts. Poets Edgar Allan Poe and Hilda Doolittle, exemplify this
use of creating meaning by alluding to the famed damsel. Poe s poem, To Helen , publishes in
1831, and Doolittle s poem, Helen, written in 1928, give readers different tastes of Helen s story
from their individual writing styles. The speaker and the imagery in each poem differentiates the
writers and their styles as the uniquely attempt reason and understand the one woman who caused
one of the most well known wars in the history of man. Writers have power because they can
create an idea, and they create whoever or whatever they want to convey that idea. The main

Although both Edgar Allan Poe and Hilda Doolittle poems revolve around Helen of Troy, the
way in which they describe Helen is different. Poe says, On desperate seas long wont to roam,
thy hyacinth hair, thy classic face, Thy Naiad airs have brought me home to the glory that was
Greece, and the grandeur that as Rome, (Poe, lines 6 10); the imagery that Poe creates, paints the
scene of the ocean and the pretty woman. He related Helen to a water nymph, not only because of
her beauty, but because of her actions as well to show the reader her mannerisms. On the other
hand, Doolittle writes, All Greece reviles the wan face when she smiles, hating it deeper still when
it grows wan and white, remembering past enchantments and past ills, (Doolittle lines 6 10). H.D.

Comparing and Contrasting Two Views of How Social Order Is...
Comparing and contrasting two views of how social order is produced as in the public spaces.
The concept of social order has various definitions. The explanations for the concept of social
order tend towards large scale studies and macro theories with a sharp focus on the analysis of
our society as an entity. There are however some studies that are more specific and are concerned
with issues smaller scale issues such as families, crime, communities while raising issues of
social order on a level which is described by Scott Marshall (2009, p.707) as micro. This work
explores the differences as a well as similarities of ideas that relates to the creation as well as
management of social order on the basis of Buchanan s work titled Traffic in Towns as well as
the ideas that were advanced by Hans Monderman (Buchanan, 1963).In this work, a lot of effort
is placed on the relationship that exists between the traffic and the pedestrians as well as how the
governance of these two important variables play part in the creation of social order. Buchanan
and Monderman effectively investigated the relationship that exists between pedestrians and the
traffic in the making and remaking of social order. The conclusion of the Second World War saw
the level of traffic congestions in most of the Britain s towns as well as cities increase in
correlation with the rather exponential rise in the level of car ownership as noted by Silva (2009,
p.325). Buchanan was effectively commission by the

Arguments In Dealing With Dragons
While reading the novel, Dealing with Dragons , by Patricia C. Wrede, one could ask if
someone like Cimorene, a princess in the story, should be justified if they go against what
expectations are made of them and why that should ever be approved of. However, Cimorene
was completely justified in ignoring the social norms of her day because it is very clear that she
was never content with being a princess in that kingdom, she was only truly happy in living an
improper life away from her heredity, and she is far more intelligent than most men, yet she is still
treated like a lesser human being while in her kingdom that proves to only be keeping her behind
from accomplishing great things. In the novel, Dealing with Dragons , it is made very clear that
Cimorene immensely loathes being a princess in the Kingdom of Linderwall because of the
social norms that she is forced to abide by. The author states, Then what, exactly is your problem?
... This! Cimorene gestured at the castle around her. Embroidery lessons, and dancing, and and
being a princess! . This event occurs when Cimorene fairy godmother comes to the castle for a
visit. Cimorene blatantly states that everything involved in her life is exactly her problem and
because that, one can find that she was justified to run away from a life that she despises.
Furthermore, this shows that Cimorene had a motive to run away from what would be an
inexorable marriage because of her parents and that she never wanted to hurt

New Product Development ( Npd )
New Product Development (NPD) entails introduction of new products or services to the market. In
today s environments, NPD is crucial to many companies due to a number of reasons: firstly,
international competition is increasing rapidly; markets have become fragmented and demanding;
again, technologies are changing and becoming more diverse. (Bigliardi, Eleonora, Roberto,
Giuseppe, 2010). In order to always be ahead of competition as well as maintain a competitive
advantage, organisations have integrated NPD into their corporate strategy and also offer products
that are well aligned to target customer needs. (Calantone, Vickery, Dröge, 1995; Damanpour

are enumerated. Literature Review Various NPD models have been proposed as a result of
evolution of design of NPD process throughout the years. Specifically, three major generations of
NPD models are identified. (Bigliardi, Bottani, Rinaldi, 2013) For the first generation of
models, NPD process was perceived as series of stages to be conducted chronologically to
simplify innovation activities. (Bigliardi et al., 2013). Works by Klompmaker et al and Hanan
(cited in Bigliardi et al., 2010) proposed an NPD model comprising of 27 steps and a 24
activities flow diagram appropriate for non industrial goods respectively, while McGuire (cited
in Bigliardi et al., 2013) proposed a similar model for industrial goods. Another model proposed
during the early 1990s indicated NPD steps were performed in parallel or concurrently (Clark
Fujimoto, 1991). Cooper (1994) postulated a third generation of NPD models, which involves
moving a new product from idea to launch mainly incorporating discipline into a process. Even
though there exist differences across various models, in terms of the activities recognised, each
theoretical element shows a framework that is significantly similar. Most of the stage based
models denote the process as a series of linear activities, having feedback loops between each

Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit em, but remember it s a sin to kill a mockingbird
(Lee, 98). Ever since its publication, Harper Lee s novel has been read by millions worldwide.
Its perspectives on racism and empathy have been reviewed, criticized, and analyzed by every
demographic. But there is the ever present question: what, in essence, does Harper Lee mean when
she declares it a sin to kill a mockingbird? Though she reveals that it is a sin because they are
innocent, what is she truly implying? Is she discussing the events of Tom Robinson s fictional
trial, or something deeper? However one visions it, it is clear the story would not have developed
and lived up to its glory without many of its characters and events that... Show more content on

The Scottsboro Boys was a nationally controversial case; and it all began with nine African
American men and two white women aboard a train. The train ride began on March 25, 1931. A
fight erupted between the African American men and the white men on board the train, and the
African American men won and forced the white men off. After news of the fight spread to
Paint Rock, Alabama, all able men with weapons waited for the train to arrive for its mortar
stop. When the train pulled in, a racial confrontation immediately ensued. In the midst of it all,
two women, Victoria Price and Ruby Bates, emerged from a train car and claimed they had been
raped by the nine African American men that had been on the train. Only the verbal confirmation
from one of the white women that they had been raped was enough to send the public into a
frenzy. The men of Paint Rock surrounded the African American boys and forced them to line up
against a wall. Then they aggressively made them stand and wait for a bus to take them to
Scottsboro. The Scottsboro Boys were surrounded by the aggressive public as soon as they were
put in the Scottsboro jail. The sheriff had to go out and declare that violence towards the prisoners
would result in violence towards the instigator. While Atticus Finch did not condone violence, this
is similar to the To Kill A Mockingbird jail scene. Additionally, Victoria Price, one of the accusers,
had traits similar to those of Mayella Ewell. When the trials actually began, she would be extremely
evasive on the witness stand, and claim she did not know what would seem to be rather obvious
information. Also, her manner indicated she was uneducated, and like Mayella, and she would
frequently burst out in unintelligible streams of sentences. She was tough as nails, with foul
language, and improper clothes. She hardly fit the stereotype of the young Southern

Hector Happiness
While studying the film Hector and The Search for Happiness, I grasped innumerable concepts of
life. Hector encountered happiness in a bind of adventures on his international quest throughout

Descriptive Essay On Velvet
Antonio Noyola Velvet I sit upright, gasping, trying to remember where I am and how I got

direction it came from, and make out through the darkness the shape of a teenage human lying

my own name. Josh s eyes are shut. Soon my eyes began to adjust to the darkness. I see that we

Persuasive Essay On Tree Stump
Are you a new homeowner trying to improve the looks of your yard by removing trees? If you ve
recently had one cut down in your yard, were you left with a stump that s getting in the way of
your landscaping plans? Although you may be tempted to pull the stump on your own, tree
stump removal is not usually a good do it yourself project for new homeowners. Here are some
reasons why you should hire a professional company to take care of the procedure for you: Time:
Digging a stump up and pulling it out of the ground can take a long time, even if the stump doesn
t appear to be large at ground level.. Even a relatively small tree trunk could be hiding a massive
root system. Many people may assume that tree stump removal will only take a couple hours, only
to find out that the root system is much larger and more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Safety: Getting a stump out of the ground can be extremely dangerous for an inexperienced
person. For example, even if you re experienced with towing vehicles with your truck, you may
run into difficulties iff you attach a chain to the stump and try to yank it out. The chain may
snap suddenly, causing the vehicle you re using to lurch forward abruptly. Hiring a tree stump
removal company will allow you to stop worrying about causing injuries or damages. They are
familiar with the proper safety equipment and also know how to remove the tree stump without
danger to people or property. Money: Tree stump removal can be costly, if you do it yourself. If
you don t have the necessary equipment, you may have to rent a chainsaw, purchase a heavy saw
or obtain equipment that you don t already own. Additionally, your inexperience could result in
damage to your vehicle or property. On the other hand, if you hire a professional company, you will

How Did Pancho Villa Change During The Mexican Revolution
Pancho Villa was a top military general of the Mexican Revolution. Pancho Villa was born
Doroteo Arange on June 5, 1878, in San Juan del Rio Durango. Villa spent much of his youth
helping around his parents farm. After his father s death when Villa was only 15 years old, he
became head of the household.
With his new role as protector of his new household, he shot a man who was harassing one of his
sisters in 1894. He fled, spending 6 years on the run in the mountains. While there, he joined a
group of fugitives and became a bandit.
Although the specifics of what occurred in Villa s life during this time are unknown, it s confirmed
that he changed his name while on the run to avoid getting caught by the authorities. In the late
1890s, he worked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
government then turned against Madero as well, fearing that the new president was too
conciliatory to the rebel group and concerned about the threat that civil war in Mexico was

of rebel force, led by Felix Diaz (the former dictator s nephew), clashed with federal troops in
Mexico City under the command of Victoriano Huerta. On February 18th, 1913, after the ninth
day of that melee (known as La Decena Tragica, or the ten tragic days ), Huerta and Diaz met in
the office of U.S. Ambassador Henry Lane Wilson and signed the so called Pact of the Embassy,
in which they agreed to conspire against Madero and to install Huerta as president. Huerta assumed

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Multicarrier Modulation
Multicarrier modulation is a technique of transmitting data over several subchannels instead of
transmitting the data over the whole bandwidth in single carrier systems. The data stream to be
transmitted is divided into a number of lower data rate data streams. The subchannels have narrow
bandwidth compared to wideband channel in single carrier systems and also the symbol period on
each subchannel is increased.
Multicarrier modulation provides immunity to fading caused by data transmission over mul tipath
fading channels or frequency selective fading channels. Each of the subchannel expe riences flat
fading due to the decreased bandwidth. Also, due to the increase in the symbol period, it provides
enhanced immunity to ISI. Another advantage of multicarrier modulation technique is it can
provide better spectral efficiency compared to single carrier modulation, since the spectrum of the
subcarrier can be overlapped.
Although there are advantages, multicarrier modulation technique has disadvantages such as
requirement of synchronization with marginal conditions , higher Peak to Average Power Ra tio
(PAPR) implying strict requirement for amplifier to be linear.
A number of multicarrier modulation technique has involved. Few of them are OFDM, ... Show

These sub carriers are orthogonal to each other. It is very much popular scheme used in digital
television, audio broadcasting and 4G communications. OFDM has the ability to deal with severe
channel fading conditions without complex equalization filters. Due to the longer symbol period
and the CP extension, OFDM is more robust against the effect of timing offset and delay spread in
multipath fading channels. OFDM also gain higher spectral efficiency due to the overlapping of the
subcarrier spectrum which are orthogonal to each other. The major drawback of OFDM is high

How Does Dickens Create Suspense
4.Dickens creates an atmosphere of mystery and danger by keeping the reader in suspense and
on edge. He does so through his abundance of details in his descriptions. He evokes emotions that
the reader wouldn t otherwise feel unless they were there. Dickens uses imagery to make the
reader feel as though they are in the novel with the other characters, making it tangible. He
increases the tension in the chapter using heavy mist, which is used to block the reader s vision,
so they cannot tell what is coming next. The setting also played a role in creating such a
suspenseful mood. It is a late night in November, so it is particularly dark and cold outside. The
Dover mail coach is traveling up a hill called Shooter s Hill, which leads the reader to know that
the surroundings are dangerous and to think that someone might get shot. 5.When Jerry Cruncher

Mr. Jarvis Lorry is the embodiment of order on the outside. He wears sleek stockings and shoes
with plain, but trim buckles. Although his clothes are not of higher quality, like his stockings,
they were still a crisp white. His suit was brown, finishing his look of a proper businessman. Mr.
Lorry does not even have a hair out of place. His face is clear of emotions, and he insists that he
is a man of business who has no feelings. His brown clothing helps to make him look dull and
reserved, which is how people would assume that he is a trustworthy and honest businessman.
The reader also notes that Mr. Lorry has carefully trained and forced himself to look dull instead
of bright and full of life. Like many other men, he is under the impression that showing his
feelings is not a masculine act. By hiding his true feelings, he thinks he is being strong. However,
the reader knows that he is a compassionate and sentimental man because he goes out of his way to
take care of Miss Manette and her father although doing so could tarnish his

The Negative Effects Of Dropping The Dropouts In Schools
Dropping the Dropouts
Nelson Mandela once said, Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change
the world. It is difficult to prevent temptation within the student population when it comes to the
harmful aspects of our society and the effect it has. Most students strive to be cool or popular or
simply fit in when they attend grade school. Although not all students fall into the wrong path,
every student deserves assistance and the opportunity to grow and prosper. In the Pasadena
Independent School District (PISD) about 90% of the students are minorities. Meanwhile, in 2015
the highest percentage of drop outs within ethnic groups was 9.6%; it belonged to a minority.
Although minorities tend to have higher dropout rates, there are nonprofit organizations established
such as the Communities In Schools After school Centers on Education program (CIS ACE). As an
employee of this particular organization, I can confirm that our main focus is student success in the
Pasadena ISD. Regardless of all the positive effects is has within our community and the hard work
we put toward the program, it is no longer receiving a grant to furthermore continue this program
even though it is evident that students in Pasadena ISD would be benefitted more than most
compared to other school districts. This is because there is not enough support from the
administrators in the district and because those who distribute the grants deliberately decided to
give it to another district.

  • 2. Leon and Snowball Comparison George Orwell, writer of the book Animal Farm captures important aspects of the Russian Revolution and portrays them in a humorous and more understandable way. Each animal represents an important person or event that happened during this time. Snowball is a pig that lives on Mr. Jones farm who is enthralled at the idea of a Revolution and one of the main animals to help get it going. The inspiration for his character was from important revolutionist, Leon Trotsky. Snowball was modeled after him, showing most of his character trails and interest. Most of the people and events that look place throughout Trotsky s life are also incorporated in Snowball s life. Orwell s imagination ran wild as he wrote this memorable story so that he might... • 3. Hunger, Malnutrition, And Famine According to recent statistics from the United Nations World Food Program, 795 million people across the globe, suffer from the effects of being undernourished ( Food Program, 2015, para. 1). Both hunger and malnutrition serve to be the number one risk to health and well being, more so than Aids, Tuberculosis, and Malaria combined ( FoodProgram, 2015, para. 1). Although the planet produces enough food to feed everyone (Wright Boorse, 2014), hunger, malnutrition, and famine continue to adversely affect people in both developed and developing nations. Children are particularly susceptible to the ill effects of hunger and malnutrition as stunting or growth failure, aside for disease, is the leading cause of abnormal growth development in children ( Stunting, n.d.). In July of 2015, while serving as a health care provider, at a two day medical clinic in the impoverished town of Suscal, Ecuador, a fairly young woman sought my treatment for her 12 year old son who was suffering the consequences of chronic diarrhea from a parasitic infection contracted by drinking contaminated water. Besides chronic diarrhea, the child also suffered the after effects of the Hepatitis B virus, which was contracted by eating contaminated food. Most stunning was the child s clinical presentation of being underdeveloped and underweight for a normal 12 year old. Even more alarming was the fact that the child was missing both maxillary incisors. Through an interpreter, the mother inquired as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. EDM Culture Millennial Values in EDM Culture While elements of the millennial mindset like acceptance and kindness were found in the early stages of Electronic Dance Music, those values are truly evident in this modern EDM culture. Kindness: EDM has rebranded itself from the original drugs and underground stigmas that it has come to be associated with. The basics of why it was created, acceptance and community integration have been rebranded as PLUR for the current generation. PLUR stands for Peace Love Unity and Respect. It is often called the new hippy movement and related festivals are branded as the new Woodstock . EDM Festivals such as the Electric Daisy Carnival promote a strict no drug policy. [Under the Electric Sky] Moral Responsibility: An essential part of EDM s rise to fame in this generation has to do with tech boom. New technology is everywhere. Electric is a key word that both symbolizes technology and creates a high energy feeling. Artists feel a new moral responsibility to distribute free or cheap music. Many popular EDM DJ s such as Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, and Paul Oakenfield operate free podcast where they stream their new music for free. Introduction This chapter aims to present Ralph Miliband s view on the Marxist theory of the state. Miliband, as stated by Newman (2007) was probably the most influential Marxist political sociologist writing in English in the second half of the twentieth century, his works simultaneously contributing both to the academic research agenda and to student protest movements of the era. (p. 176). One of his most popular books is The State in Capitalist Society . The major goal of this book is to refute the pluralism claim a dominant paradigm in the western political science when the book was published that power is dispersed among a large number of competing groups in society and the government was open to influence by competing parties and groups . (Newman, 2007, p. 76). In his book, Miliband s criticism against the pluralists is clearly stated in the Introduction chapter, One of the main purposes ... to show in detail that the pluralist democratic view of society, of politics and of the state in regard to the countries of advanced capitalism, is in all essentials wrong that this view, far from providing a guide to ... • 6. Cultural Memory, The Mgr Murder Trial Cultural Memory and the Sri Lankan Civil War in Shobaskthi s short story, The MGR Murder Trial By Dr Preetha Vasan . Abstract : This paper looks at the intersection of cultural memory, war and literary narrative in the specific context of the civil wars that raged Sri Lanka. It would consider the dynamics of cultural memory of an ethnic minority group during a civil war. To achieve this , the paper would attempt a close study of Shobasakthi , the Tamil Eelam writer s titular short story The MGR Murder Trial from his short story anthology. The use of a popular cultural icon is deliberate in the story. The paper would consider the symbolism of this usage and thereby arrive at the author s response to the civil war Assmann and ... Literary writings have represented many facets of war ranging from the great epics like The Mahabharatha to our postcolonial postmodern writings on terrorism, genocide and exile. In order to understand the context of the narrative of Shobasakthi s story , it is necessary to briefly consider the many trajectories of the Sri Lankan civil war. Sometimes called the pearl of the Indian Ocean, meaning resplendent in Sinhala, once described by travellers as a paradise and named by Arab seafarers as Serendib, Sri Lanka was what an Eighteenth Century writer had in mind when he coined the word serendipity .However the nation s gruesome and protracted civil wars have reduced these myriad nomenclatures to the poignant Tear drop in the Indian Ocean. In the Sri Lankan context multiple historicisations, various narratives of the same history occur since the nation is marked by a diversity of ethnic, religious and linguistic identities. These include Sinhalese, Sri Lankan Tamils, Indian Tamils, Muslim moors, Tamil Christians, and the Eurasian Burghers. Historians, political science scholars Richardson, Stokke and others have located different reasons for the civil strife in Sri Lanka to understand why and how simmering ethnic differences escalated into a full scale insurgency ... • 8. Education of the Black Male in America Essay Today s education is often viewed as failing in its goal of educating students, especially those students characterized as minorities, including African American, Hispanic, and Appalachian students (Quiroz, 1999). Among the minority groups mentioned, African American males are affected most adversely. Research has shown that when Black malestudents are compared to other students by gender and race they consistently rank lowest in academic achievement (Ogbu, 2003), have the worst attendance record (Voelkle, 1999), are suspended and expelled the most often (Raffaele Mendez, 2003; Staples, 1982), are most likely to drop out of school, and most often fail to graduate from high school or to earn a GED (Pinkney, 2000; Roderick, 2003).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no single overriding factor to explain this lack of success, but most scholars and researchers point out that beginning in the colonial era and continuing through most of our nation s history, the experiences of Black males in White society have been so negative and psychologically damaging (Pinkney, 2000; Staples, 1982) that they have given birth to and nurtured a deep seated and tenacious belief in their own, and the entire Black community s, inferiority. At the beginning of this history, Black male slaves were looked upon by White society as the most undesirable and least trust worthy of people, and they were treated accordingly. Black male slaves were closely associated with and compared to animals, and were said to have a deceptive and violent nature and to be uncontrollable and in need of the whip (Kunjufu, 1986). Given this formative experience in slavery, the fact that Black males have continued to be disadvantaged from birth to death throughout our nation s short history hardly seems to need explanation. A Broader Problem that plagues Black males are not totally the responsibility of the public schools, but are a responsibility of society as a whole (Delpit, 1995). We can say, however, that the public schools do play a major role in addressing the problems of Black male students. The educational experiences and the support services afforded Black male students could play an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Gun Control Controls Nothing Essays More and more frequently, we are saddened by the news of mass shootings. Whether it takes place in a school or public area, these shootings are both disastrous and mortifying. Families begin to feel anger and sadness, and demand immediate justice. Although these terrible events continue to happen, there have been no significant steps taken towards the reduction in the number of weapons; specifically assault rifles. This leads one to question do we need to ban the right to possess such weapons? If the possession of these weapons is not made illegal, we run the risk of another attack. While there is no questioning the severity of these mass shootings, a ban on assault rifles is not the answer because they are not the cause of such events,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bill definitely has good intentions, but the fact of the matter is that these shootings are anomalies. Since 2006, there have only been six cases in which ten or more people were killed in a given shooting (USA Today). Therefore, these are not common events. At less than once per year for the last seven years, it is something that might even go unnoticed had there not been a great deal of news coverage following such events. To add to that, out of the 231 mass killings in the United States in the last seven years, only a mere thirty two of these cases have been due to guns (USA Today). This means that there are many more important issues than assault rifles when it comes to the prevention of mass shootings. One of the main issues with mass shootings is not the guns but the people who wield the guns. In the United States, less than six percent of people are considered to have serious mental disorders (National Institute of Mental Health). Less than one percent of that number would even be at the risk of committing as catastrophic a crime as a mass shooting. This is the type of person who would do such a thing. Again, this is not common at all. We are talking about a handful of people in the whole country, yet news coverage and popular opinion makes it out to be a common event. A series of incidents that happen during their river crossings show Ray and Lila s terrors and desires, and the more they notice these emotions, the more they gain self revelation through the jobs. The script ends with character s personal transformations as Ria and Lila decide to go against their character. Ray and Lila s actions and decisions result from their transformations through the sequence of the script. However, the film s resolution is inconclusive. • 12. The Poetry of Wallace Stevens Though Wallace Stevens commonly uses a blank verse writing style in his poetry, staying true to the style s definition of unrhymed lines with consistent meter, Sunday Morning differs from the poet s other work as he maintains consistency in stanza structure as well. Here, each of the eight stanzas consists of 15 feet and contain 10 beats per line (classic iambic pentameter). This extremely organized structure seems ironic, as the poem s theme involves the death of Christianity and organized religion. However, it also lends to Stevens message of the importance of life and death, and the immaculate natureand consistency seen in earth s life cycles. Sunday Morning is an example of Wallace Stevens romantic period writing style, as he articulates the human connection to nature and the existence of spirituality within ones physical surroundings. The uncompromising structure of the poem provides a meditative rhythm (showing Stevens connection to Milton and the romanic era) as the speaker reflects on the relationship between oneself and the natural environment. Simultaneously, Stevens use of blank verse and inclusion of both enjambments and end stopped lines allows for artistic exploration, mirroring a human thought pattern and the speaker s mental exploration of personal beliefs. The syntax resembles a racing mind, as the sentence structure is the only aspect of the poem that does not follow a strict pattern. This is evident as the speaker ponders a Pagan perspective, ... Taoism is a Chinese philosophical, religious, and spiritual belief system that teaches one to flow with life and to be true to one s nature. Taoism is one of China s five religions. It is one of three philosophical teachings which also include Buddhism, and Confucianism. Taoism began in the in the late 4th century BC under the work of Laozi, in the Tao Te Ching. Tao means way and Taoism is sometimes expressed as the flow of the universe. Taoism s central value is naturalness, which one achieves by freeing themselves from desire and selfish thoughts and behaviors and embracing simplicity in life. Taoism is also sometimes referred to as Daoism. Taoism teaches that trusting one s instincts and gut is the path to finding one s true nature. Taoism has survived as long as it has it has because it teaches to adapt to which allows followers to embrace modern culture rather than fight it. The three most popular ancient Taoist works include Tao Te Ching written by Laozi, and one written by Lieh Tzu, and another written by Chuang Tzu. Taoism teaches to reject hate, to reject intolerance, and to live with compassion, harmony, and balance in one s life. Violence is considered to be a last resort in Taoism. We developed this study based on previous findings from Kirsch and Murnen (2013), (Junn,1997), and Leaper et al (2002) and because of the potential implications of Disney s portrayal of genderstereotypes in their films. We developed two hypotheses to test this. First, we hypothesized that malecharacters would exhibit masculine stereotypical behaviors such as giving orders and being aggressive, more often than feminine stereotypical behaviors and women would display feminine stereotypical behaviors such as performing domestic duties and primping, more often than masculine stereotypical behaviors in Disney movies. Second, we hypothesized that women would have more fluidity in these Disney films, meaning they are more likely to exhibit masculine stereotypical behaviors as compared to males demonstrating feminine stereotypical behaviors. According to our results, we failed to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We observed a total of 487 instances of male stereotypical behavior, but only 77 instances of female stereotypical behaviors. This leads into the final and perhaps the largest limitation of our study, which was the limited sample size which could have potentially increased the amount of female stereotypical behaviors observed and made it clearer which gender was more likely to exhibit them. We only watched 5 of the over 150 Disney produced films and thus perhaps our results are by chance. If we increased our sample size, then we might have increased our chances of finding gender stereotypical behaviors, as has been discovered in many studies. Once the Trichinella spiralis is ingested it goes through the body into the stomach, and encounters pepsin and gastric acid. Once this occurs larva is released and travels into the small bowel mucosa where they mature into adult worms. The adult worms then travel into the striated muscle an encyst into the body where they may live for years. Through means of this story, chivalry seems like a perfect ideal that everyone can and should do, but in Monty Python and the Holy Grail viewers can see that maybe chivalry was sort of silly and kind of hard to follow. In the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail they satirize the sort of chivalry shown in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. For example, while Sir Gawain was honorable and brave, Python s Arthur and his men were exactly the opposite. Arthur and his men ran away from danger, they ran away when the French castle threw whole animals at them, they ran away from the killer bunny and Sir Robin ran away when he realized that he was not going to win the battle against the three headed knight. Clearly, the characters in Monty Python and the Holy Grail didn t exhibit any of the ideals of chivalry. Chivalry was also well represented and adored in the film Knights of the Round Table. In the film we see many chivalric acts take place, but one act that I focused on was, when Arthur and Sir Lancelot were unknowingly fighting in the woods. The film shows Arthur getting his sword stuck in a tree and Sir Lancelot getting it out for him. There are many types of renewable energy, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat. Geothermal heat renewable energy converts natural heat into electricity resources. Unfortunately California s Three Strikes law is causing the most controversy. The three parts in California s law are the defendant s record of prior convictions, the current charge and the minimum punishment the defendant is facing. A man or woman has to be convicted of two felonies and charged with another one before the Three Strikes law can come into play. Dictionary.com defines a felonyas an offense, as murder or burglary, of graver character than those called misdemeanors, especially those commonly punished in the U.S. by imprisonment for more than a year (Brauchli). The first strike that someone has on their record has to be from a serious or violent crime. Some of the controversy derives from what the law considers a serious offense. The second strike happens when there was a prior conviction that was a violent or serious crime. When a suspect is facing his or her second strike the required time is doubled. For example, if the court gave someone seven years for a felony, they would receive fourteen years. When a person receives their third strike on their record with any felony conviction their time jumps up to twenty five to life. Poe says, On desperate seas long wont to roam, thy hyacinth hair, thy classic face, Thy Naiad airs have brought me home to the glory that was Greece, and the grandeur that as Rome, (Poe, lines 6 10); the imagery that Poe creates, paints the scene of the ocean and the pretty woman. He related Helen to a water nymph, not only because of her beauty, but because of her actions as well to show the reader her mannerisms. On the other hand, Doolittle writes, All Greece reviles the wan face when she smiles, hating it deeper still when it grows wan and white, remembering past enchantments and past ills, (Doolittle lines 6 10). The concept of social order has various definitions. The explanations for the concept of social order tend towards large scale studies and macro theories with a sharp focus on the analysis of our society as an entity. There are however some studies that are more specific and are concerned with issues smaller scale issues such as families, crime, communities while raising issues of social order on a level which is described by Scott Marshall (2009, p.707) as micro. This work explores the differences as a well as similarities of ideas that relates to the creation as well as management of social order on the basis of Buchanan s work titled Traffic in Towns as well as the ideas that were advanced by Hans Monderman (Buchanan, 1963).In this work, a lot of effort is placed on the relationship that exists between the traffic and the pedestrians as well as how the governance of these two important variables play part in the creation of social order. Buchanan and Monderman effectively investigated the relationship that exists between pedestrians and the traffic in the making and remaking of social order. The conclusion of the Second World War saw the level of traffic congestions in most of the Britain s towns as well as cities increase in correlation with the rather exponential rise in the level of car ownership as noted by Silva (2009, p.325). • 38. Arguments In Dealing With Dragons While reading the novel, Dealing with Dragons , by Patricia C. Wrede, one could ask if someone like Cimorene, a princess in the story, should be justified if they go against what expectations are made of them and why that should ever be approved of. However, Cimorene was completely justified in ignoring the social norms of her day because it is very clear that she was never content with being a princess in that kingdom, she was only truly happy in living an improper life away from her heredity, and she is far more intelligent than most men, yet she is still treated like a lesser human being while in her kingdom that proves to only be keeping her behind from accomplishing great things. In the novel, Dealing with Dragons , it is made very clear that Cimorene immensely loathes being a princess in the Kingdom of Linderwall because of the social norms that she is forced to abide by. The author states, Then what, exactly is your problem? ... This! Cimorene gestured at the castle around her. Embroidery lessons, and dancing, and and being a princess! . This event occurs when Cimorene fairy godmother comes to the castle for a visit. Cimorene blatantly states that everything involved in her life is exactly her problem and because that, one can find that she was justified to run away from a life that she despises. Furthermore, this shows that Cimorene had a motive to run away from what would be an inexorable marriage because of her parents and that she never wanted to hurt ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. New Product Development ( Npd ) New Product Development (NPD) entails introduction of new products or services to the market. In today s environments, NPD is crucial to many companies due to a number of reasons: firstly, international competition is increasing rapidly; markets have become fragmented and demanding; again, technologies are changing and becoming more diverse. (Bigliardi, Eleonora, Roberto, Giuseppe, 2010). In order to always be ahead of competition as well as maintain a competitive advantage, organisations have integrated NPD into their corporate strategy and also offer products that are well aligned to target customer needs. (Calantone, Vickery, DrГ¶ge, 1995; Damanpour Shanti, 2001). Therefore, success of many companies have been attributed to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thereafter, conclusions and recommendations for improving the NPD process of the company are enumerated. Literature Review Various NPD models have been proposed as a result of evolution of design of NPD process throughout the years. Specifically, three major generations of NPD models are identified. (Bigliardi, Bottani, Rinaldi, 2013) For the first generation of models, NPD process was perceived as series of stages to be conducted chronologically to simplify innovation activities. (Bigliardi et al., 2013). Works by Klompmaker et al and Hanan (cited in Bigliardi et al., 2010) proposed an NPD model comprising of 27 steps and a 24 activities flow diagram appropriate for non industrial goods respectively, while McGuire (cited in Bigliardi et al., 2013) proposed a similar model for industrial goods. Another model proposed during the early 1990s indicated NPD steps were performed in parallel or concurrently (Clark Fujimoto, 1991). Cooper (1994) postulated a third generation of NPD models, which involves moving a new product from idea to launch mainly incorporating discipline into a process. Even though there exist differences across various models, in terms of the activities recognised, each theoretical element shows a framework that is significantly similar. Most of the stage based models denote the process as a series of linear activities, having feedback loops between each activity. New ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This essay will exemplify how Genghis Khan s capability to lead was established by realizing his beginnings and how through intense leadership skills his daughters were able to save and run his empire after his death. Due to the stresses of living out in the severe circumstances of the plain, Mongolian women often shared the tasks of hunting and steering with the men. They knew how to ride horses and shoot. The Scottsboro Boys was a nationally controversial case; and it all began with nine African American men and two white women aboard a train. The train ride began on March 25, 1931. A fight erupted between the African American men and the white men on board the train, and the African American men won and forced the white men off. After news of the fight spread to Paint Rock, Alabama, all able men with weapons waited for the train to arrive for its mortar stop. When the train pulled in, a racial confrontation immediately ensued. In the midst of it all, two women, Victoria Price and Ruby Bates, emerged from a train car and claimed they had been raped by the nine African American men that had been on the train. Only the verbal confirmation from one of the white women that they had been raped was enough to send the public into a frenzy. The men of Paint Rock surrounded the African American boys and forced them to line up against a wall. Then they aggressively made them stand and wait for a bus to take them to Scottsboro. The Scottsboro Boys were surrounded by the aggressive public as soon as they were put in the Scottsboro jail. The sheriff had to go out and declare that violence towards the prisoners would result in violence towards the instigator. While Atticus Finch did not condone violence, this is similar to the To Kill A Mockingbird jail scene. Additionally, Victoria Price, one of the accusers, had traits similar to those of Mayella Ewell. When the trials actually began, she would be extremely evasive on the witness stand, and claim she did not know what would seem to be rather obvious information. Also, her manner indicated she was uneducated, and like Mayella, and she would frequently burst out in unintelligible streams of sentences. • 47. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Multicarrier Modulation Multicarrier modulation is a technique of transmitting data over several subchannels instead of transmitting the data over the whole bandwidth in single carrier systems. The data stream to be transmitted is divided into a number of lower data rate data streams. The subchannels have narrow bandwidth compared to wideband channel in single carrier systems and also the symbol period on each subchannel is increased. Multicarrier modulation provides immunity to fading caused by data transmission over mul tipath fading channels or frequency selective fading channels. Each of the subchannel expe riences flat fading due to the decreased bandwidth. Also, due to the increase in the symbol period, it provides enhanced immunity to ISI. Another advantage of multicarrier modulation technique is it can provide better spectral efficiency compared to single carrier modulation, since the spectrum of the subcarrier can be overlapped. Although there are advantages, multicarrier modulation technique has disadvantages such as requirement of synchronization with marginal conditions , higher Peak to Average Power Ra tio (PAPR) implying strict requirement for amplifier to be linear. He does so through his abundance of details in his descriptions. He evokes emotions that the reader wouldn t otherwise feel unless they were there. Dickens uses imagery to make the reader feel as though they are in the novel with the other characters, making it tangible. He increases the tension in the chapter using heavy mist, which is used to block the reader s vision, so they cannot tell what is coming next. The setting also played a role in creating such a suspenseful mood. It is a late night in November, so it is particularly dark and cold outside. It is difficult to prevent temptation within the student population when it comes to the harmful aspects of our society and the effect it has. Most students strive to be cool or popular or simply fit in when they attend grade school. Although not all students fall into the wrong path, every student deserves assistance and the opportunity to grow and prosper. In the Pasadena Independent School District (PISD) about 90% of the students are minorities. Meanwhile, in 2015 the highest percentage of drop outs within ethnic groups was 9.6%; it belonged to a minority. Although minorities tend to have higher dropout rates, there are nonprofit organizations established such as the Communities In Schools After school Centers on Education program (CIS ACE). As an employee of this particular organization, I can confirm that our main focus is student success in the Pasadena ISD. Regardless of all the positive effects is has within our community and the hard work we put toward the program, it is no longer receiving a grant to furthermore continue this program even though it is evident that students in Pasadena ISD would be benefitted more than most compared to other school districts.
