This paper presents the design of a solar-powered vehicle that can be remotely controlled via GSM communication networks. The vehicle is powered by a 5-watt solar panel and 3 rechargeable batteries. It can be operated from anywhere within the GSM network by making a phone call to a mobile phone attached to the vehicle. Pressing buttons on the caller's phone generates DTMF tones that are processed by relays to control the motor driver and move the vehicle forward, backward, left, or right. This remote control via GSM allows the vehicle to be controlled over long distances without worrying about battery charge levels, as the solar panel provides much of the needed power.
