This document discusses ZTE's UMTS green speed solution for mobile networks. It proposes making networks more energy efficient and environmentally friendly through green equipment, green network construction, green power supply, and green supply chain approaches. Specifically, it suggests decreasing site numbers and increasing antenna sensitivity to lower energy consumption. It also promotes high efficiency power amplifiers, intelligent carrier shutdown when traffic is low, and software-defined radio platforms to smoothly evolve networks over time with minimal hardware upgrades. The goal is to lower the total cost of ownership for mobile operators through reduced site deployment, material and power usage while still providing high quality coverage and services.
