Editor's Notes
Young people, especially, are trying to do several things at the same time.
PH ranks highest in the APAC region in terms of time spent online via computer, and third in terms of internet access via mobile devices. Cheap Android phones.
In terms of social media use, we again rank highest in the APAC region
In terms of social media use, we again rank highest in the APAC region
Lectures, classes: long reading assignments, the ability to last 1.5 hours without touching their phones.
Conversations: buzzing phones, or impulsively checking for messages. While studying: check email, IM, etc.
Writing papers: scan and copy.
People accumulate a lot of information, but not enough knowledge. Teachers see this a lot. Not enough thinking, reflection, synthesis goes into papers written by many students. It can also happen to us.
Study time. Meals. Eating out. Etc.
Appreciation for human contact, for the value of other people, empathy.
Inferiority complex, or a sense of frustration.
Detachment, selflessness.
Reading. Sports.
Parents should set the tone, and be conscious of giving good example to their children.
